online buddy of mine (born in 2004) said “i strongly suspect the vast majority of ‘I'll always remember where I was on 9/11’ stories are not true. I simply don't believe that 75% of people were watching the news live at 8:45 in the morning on a Tuesday when the strangest thing happened.” and like. okay. we can talk about the aftermath in the 22 years since 9/11 and the horrific and evil jingoism that ruined countless lives in decades-long wars all we want. but i cannot overstate enough that 1) we still very much had a monoculture in 2001. most americans would watch either the today show or GMA. 2) as soon as that first plane hit every news station in the country was covering it. schools and businesses and break rooms turned on every tv. every radio. anything that had the ability to broadcast the news. (smartphones weren’t a thing. cell phones and the internet existed but they were new and fragile. unreliable. your best bet was still to sit there and watch. or listen.) and we all sat there and watched the second plane hit and the pentagon hit and the towers collapse and flight 93. so, yes: basically everyone who was alive and old enough to form lasting memories in 2001 remembers that day and the coverage. even people who weren’t near a tv or radio in real time remember where they were and what they were doing when they heard the news. they probably even remember the reason why they didn’t hear about it in real time. i was 5 years old in my first week of first grade and i remember it. it was like. the biggest thing to happen in this country since fucking. pearl harbor. bigger. there’s no need to downplay that.

I bit God's hand and now he wont even feed me
This ones inspired by a picture of Mary holding Jesus but, since Virgil grew up in foster care and never knew his mother, there's no one there. Just the hollow space where someone should be.
It speaks to his relationship (and subsequent disconnection) with his heritage and culture as the orphaned child of immigrants and his difficult relationship with religion, having grown up religious but feeling betrayed and abandoned by god after his injury.
I wanted it to look like an old post card, it says return to sender but unfortunately they didn't leave a return address. It's probably just gonna sit at the post office until they throw it away. :-(

Atlas: Dude, you bolted out of that building so fast, I didn’t get a chance to see. Let’s have a look.
Atlas: Pretty.
Taryn: Did yours hurt?
Atlas: Nawh. I find it a bit therapeutic. Weird, right?
Taryn: That’s actually a common phenomenon. I think I read it somewhere. I mean to be completely honest with you, it wasn’t horrible.
Atlas: Ah so you didn’t mind it. Would you ever get a tattoo...?
Taryn: Maybe… Atlas, I’m not going back in there to get a tattoo.
Atlas: [ chuckles ] I wasn’t gonna ask! I think I’ve pushed you out of your comfort zone the allotted amount of times today.
Taryn: So that’s your grand scheme.
Atlas: [ mischievously ] Perhaps. Who knows?
Taryn: [ shakes head ] Nice. You coming over later or?
Atlas: Actually, I… Have a get together to attend to.
Taryn: Ah.
Atlas: Want… To go?
Taryn: Parties aren’t really my scene. I feel like I’d lurk around like a victorian ghost or something.
Atlas: PFFT- No worries, I figured I’d offer.
Taryn: I’m curious but do you typically go to a lot of parties? Are they because of your line of work?
Atlas: Well, this one your brother invited me to. However, I think my work helps me network with a lot of people but I guess it beats being alone.
Taryn: Are they strangers?
Atlas: Most of them.
Taryn: I see.
Atlas: Why do you ask?
Taryn: I think… You’d have a better time doing something with the people you like.
Atlas: Hmmm… I usually don’t cancel.
Taryn: Wait- I didn’t mean to do that now! O-Or even with me- Besides, Kai is probably waiting for you.
Atlas: I’m sure he’ll be fine, besides he has Dan and Frances.
Taryn: Atlas!
Atlas: Bee, it’s fine!
Taryn: Oh my god, no! I feel so bad.
Atlas: [ chuckles ] Don’t! It’s already done. C’mon, let’s go walk around.

When I say I like Dottoscara, I don't actually support them ending up together. I mean Dottore was insanely manipulative towards Scaramouche and was hugely responsible for ruining his life. They are like toxic exes, so I'm glad Scara can now heal and have his redemption arc. In fact, I'm looking forward to him getting his well deserved revenge.
But what I mean by liking them is that I just find Dottore and Scaramouche's relationship so fascinating. I wanna see more of their dynamic explored in different ways, to explore their characters, and to see just how intertwined they are. (if that makes sense)
Tumblr media
If you take in Nahida's fairytale, Dottore's motivations for recruiting Scara are far more personal. Dottore (seeing himself as a monster) has always felt like an outcast among humans, but when he met Scaramouche, he felt "solace." I see this as Dottore feeling a sense of belongingness within Scara since they are both outcasts, but got jealous/furious when the latter got accepted by the people of Tatarasuna so easily (whereas he has to disguise himself just to be accepted) so he started the whole Tatarasuna incident and then recruited him to the Fatui.
(maybe you can say that Dottore prolly just wanted to be fellow outcast friends with Scara, so much that he had to traumatize the latter into joining the Fatui, so they can be similar. In the end he only succeeded in making Scara hate him, good job Dottore.)
And then there's the whole thing with them being two sides of the same coin, Dottore, a human who is seen as a monster and Scaramouche, a puppet with so much humanity....
(Also, I don't know if it's just me who noticed, how Dottore was rejected by Sumeru and expelled by the Akademya, while Scara was welcomed by the very same region, and according to his birthday letter, he seems to be fitting in just fine in the Akademiya. Now I don't know if this was meant to be intentional, but I just love that extra irony there, considering Dottore prolly thought that they are similar, but they actually couldn't be more different.)
There's just so much stuff to explore... I'm fascinated by the dark aspects of their relationship, but I also feel like you don't spend 300+ years with someone without developing some sort of attachment. As unhealthy as it is, I can see them having their calmer moments too. Dottoscara has such a wonderfully complicated relationship that I think people tend to sleep on, which sucks, bc their dynamic is so interesting and that's why I really, really like them so much.
Also, I like a lot of wholesome ships already. I'm allowed to like a non wholesome ship from time to time, smh, and It's not often you come across such a complicated relationship like this in Genshin. I really hope Hoyo explores more of their dynamic in the future.

talk more about the celine part of darkiplier.
because yes, obviously he's an emo soft boy who constantly keeps up a calm, collected appearence. but he's also an occult enthusiast. girlboss. mom friend. sitting in a fancy restaurant with a glass of wine, judging other people. divorced. problematic but slaying.
