Helloo! I wanted to say that I loved second chances sm, when I found a random chapter last year I read the entire fic in a couple days bc I had to know what happened next, then reread it every now and then while waiting for the updates

I like how we can see both sides of the coin with shadowpeach, how they both care but are still struggling for different yet similar reasons, their struggle with what they went through, dealing with each other's personality traits and habits(their own too) that are still hard to let go of, the glimpses of the consequences of the punishments and their backstory in general

And maybe it's a me thing, but I feel like your Wukong acts like he's a bit aro spec, maybe demi aromantic, and I love that he does, especially while still explicitly loving(and like longing for?) Mac sm

I got that feeling after rereading one of the conversations shadowpeach had in the kitchen when Wukong said something about just wanting to be near Mac, and having him as his best friend was so great kinda like there couldn't possibly be anything better

I know it's probably to show how he grew up, or his personality, and that he's dense (specifically when it comes to reading Mac's feelings towards him) but I feel that just adds to the similarities with the aro experience bc there's a side of the aro community that is blind to more romantic stuff, and romantic-coded gestures or more intimate closeness is just closeness all the same

And your Wukong gives me the impression that he just wanted Mac to be close to him, didn't matter what kind of close, and that he holds the title of "best friend" as a really special thing. Be it BECAUSE of Mac, or maybe since before becoming friends with him, like not just anybody would be his best friend (Also it was maybe to show his trust issues, but still)

I think Wukong said somewhere that he just wanted Mac to be happy to be around him, as happy as SWK was to be around Mac. And I know his inability to put his feelings(love) into words more than referring to a strong or special friendship is probably to show that he's not good with Feelings™, but I like to think that maybe he is enamored in the way a queer platonic love would feel like, so calling it a strong or special friendship kinda does cut it to some degree I think

Also the way Mei (everyone really, but she's more expressive about it, and we see her more than other characters) sees Wukong as a hopeless case, but I think Wukong would see Mac loving him strongly in any way as the best thing ever, as long as it's strong love, he wouldn't mind, love is love, like he just wants to be as special to Mac as Mac is to him

Also I'd love to see them be together even if they don't have the same kind of love for each other, bc the love they have for each other would still be just as strong, and would let them have just as strong of a bond, (in the future, as things are going I have hope, I do hope they end up together in this universe, even if nothing of what I'm saying fits them by the end)

I mean no disrespect to your original idea, or if that's not what u intended, I tried looking through your blog and I haven't found any mention of something similar or headcanons about it

But yeah, idk if u mind ppl putting headcanons on your stories? Some ppl do mind, so idk I just wanted to say that regardless of that hc of mine, I think how you write them is so cool and interesting, and I find that about Wukong really cool even if it's not really where the story is heading and it's been really fun to reread

Duuude!! I fuckin looooveeee that headcanon! Holy shit that's so awesome! Honestly, I didn't even realize I was writing Wukong that way but now that it's been pointed out I can totally see it!

As someone who is kind of on the ace spectrum, I think I may have just subconsciously made it that way. Just like every other author I know, I have a habit of adding my own traumas/ideologies to my stories so I really shouldn't be too surprised LOL

But don't worry! I don't mind people making headcanons about my story~ In fact, that's my favorite part of writing is seeing how people interpret the story and seeing how they formulate it into drawings or headcanons like this! It's so cool!

Initially, my intention was to write Wukong as being oblivious/in denial about his own feelings and in general just bad with feelings. However, I really love your idea too! It's definitely one of those things where Wukong is just happy to be around Macaque. Macaque is "his person", the one he feels happy and comfortable around, the one he feels he can be open and honest around... and yeah I just realized how much that sounds like the beginnings of a queer platonic relationship LMAO

IEYTD Phantom/Zor/V. Vitti Theory

Spoilers abound for IEYTD 3.

Who is the Phantom and why do they use Zor's code?

We know the following about the Phantom:

They used to be associated with the agency, but quit before the agency could "get them killed" (implying that they dislike the agency or its methods)

They have either the skills or access to go to every mission location, and the Handler seems to think it's the former

They use the same cipher as Zor

They want Phoenix to live (final cipher is "I expect you to live")

We know the following about Zor:

They keep trying to take over the world, and don't care about casualties

They seem to want Phoenix to die, but often leave things open for Phoenix to escape (commented on by Juniper who wanted to just shoot Phoenix)

They use the same cipher as Phantom

They imply that they know something about the agency that Phoenix doesn't. This implies either a history with the agency predating their attempts to take over the world, or some sort of double-agent in the agency feeding them information

Although left uncertain, Zor is most likely a woman

They want to make Spanish class mandatory

Every single Zor operative has an American background. This could just be because Schell Games is an american company, but even the Fabricator and Solaris explicitly have dual-citizenship (this is according to https://iexpectyoutodie.schellgames.com/page-locked/login?ref=https%3A//iexpectyoutodie.schellgames.com/shawnsdesk -

Handler notes at one point that Zor is behind just about every nasty plot the agency has foiled (he says "we", so this could just refer to Phoenix's missions)

Their handedness is uncertain. The portrait of the hand holding the globe in "Winter Break" (first game) is left handed. The hand holding the snow globe is also a left hand in "Cold Shoulder" (third game). However, the data sphere override hand is a right hand, and in "Seat of Power," there are buttons on both armrests, but the emergency evac buttons are on the right.

We know the following about V. Vitti:

She used to be a field agent at the agency

Her photo is in Dr. Prism's office. She seems to not quite be part of the group, though she doesn't seem unhappy. This photo also shows that she knows the Handler, Director Morales, and Dr. Prism

She is most likely right-handed (she holds a wine glass in her right hand in the photo)

Her portrait is in Zor's office. This is just of her face, and she's smiling.

I don't think the Phantom could have picked up Zor's cipher just from looking at the items in the fourth mission. Although you can decode the Phantom's message partially using the cipher and brute-force it from there, the Phantom uses symbols not seen in the fourth mission. Because of this, I think the Phantom already knows the full cipher. Therefore, the Phantom either is Zor, is part of Zoraxis, or is otherwise affiliated with Zor.

I don't think Zor is the Phantom because Zor pretty clearly wants you dead. It's true that they leave different ways out for you to escape, so maybe they're only 99% on board with you dying (prefers you to suffer), but they do not "expect you to live" like the Phantom does. Additionally, even if they had some sort of change of heart post-game, the safe and letter were set up before Phoenix arrived at Babadag (and before anyone discovered that Phoenix had cheated death again).

I don't think any of the Zoraxis folks we know could be the Phantom either, including Juniper. All of them want you dead. Maybe Ollie could be the Phantom, but if that's the case, then Ollie is almost certainly a made up name. He could even be masking his voice since we never actually see him.

I know Juniper=Phantom is a popular theory, but without the mimic mask I do not think Juniper has the skills (and no longer has the access) to get to every mission location. First of all, it would be very difficult for him to get to Babadag before Phoenix and set up the safe with custom keys (not to mention, he'd have to both anticipate which hideout Phoenix was going to and discover the location of that secret hideout). Additionally, although I could see Juniper teaming up with the agency to get revenge on Zor or the Fabricator, I don't see why he would "Expect you to live." Granted, he did expect us to escape the death trap, but the message from the Phantom is more of a plea for us to leave the agency to save ourselves. If Juniper wants allies to take down Zor, this is counterintuitive to his goals. Finally, Juniper did not have any history whatsoever with the agency: if this were the case, the Handler would know about it.

Additionally, the Handler specifically refers to the Phantom's skills being why they could show up at every location, rather than any access they might have due to Zoraxis affiliation. However, the Handler's been wrong about whether or not people are part of Zoraxis in the past (such as with Juniper).

So, my thoughts are that the Phantom is someone who is acquainted with both Zoraxis and the Agency.

This is a bit of a gut feeling, but I don't think Zor is V. Vitti. This is based on the portrait in Zor's office: for one, I don't think Zor would keep a portrait of themself laying around for agents to find. Second, it doesn't really seem like an ego-driven portrait. If you look at self-portraits of generals, dictators, and so on, they all try to exude power or status. That's not the feel I get from that portrait. This portrait seems warmer, more like a family member of romantic interest. Additionally, people don't put up pictures of people they don't respect. Also, I get the feeling that the Handler would have commented on the picture if they didn't expect to see V. Vitti's picture in Zor's office.

A bit of a silly one, I don't see why V. Vitti would want Spanish class to be mandatory, since Vitti is an italian name. Based on what we know about Zor, he's either from the United States or from Spain. Given the US's horrible track record with latino immigrants, I could see a world where an american Zor wants to turn the tables and make Spanish mandatory. I could also see a world where a spanish Zor wants to reassert Spain's dominance over the world, because ego. I don't see a world where an italian or italian-american Zor wants to make Spanish mandatory. (Granted, the whole spanish class/spain thing could be an elaborate ruse by Zor to obscure their identity.)

So, via process of elimination, I think V. Vitti is the Phantom. I believe that she worked for the agency for some time, possibly even fighting against Zor. For some reason, V. Vitti and Zor became friendly with one another. Either Zor divulged the dark secrets they knew about the agency to V. Vitti, or V. Vitti discovered some dark secrets and shared them with Zor. They became friendly or romantic with one another (or perhaps discovered that they were related- brother's cousin's mother's ex-roommate, etc.). It's possible that Zor's code is what they used to communicate.

They do not have the same goals, since the Phantom is not currently working with Zoraxis. In fact, I'd bet that V. Vitti is presumed dead by both Zor and the Agency (with this possibly occurring after the agency discovered said relationship- hence why the portrait of V. Vitti in the briefing room is thrown in the plant and not on the wall).

Of course, this is still just a theory hanging on a gut feeling about a portrait in the first game. It's entirely possible that we do not yet have enough information to determine who the Phantom, Zor, and V. Vitti really are. And maybe Juniper did have some dark history with the agency that has yet to be discovered (Was he a triple agent, perhaps?) Or maybe Zor and the Phantom are the same person, and Zor's simply changed their mind on whether or not he wants Phoenix to die (and he's decided that it might be easier to manipulate them into quitting).

A New Fishbowl

Please watch before reading to understand refs. (NOTE: I can't remember if Pezmuerte's first name is Ozma or not, but for now let's just go with it)

"Again?!?" cried Felix, almost dropping the glass he was washing.

"Again," sighed Bruno.

It was Wednesday, which meant it was Felix and Bruno's turn to do the dishes, with the help of Antonio. It was the same arrangement as usual: Antonio allows Parce to lick food off the plates, then Felix washes, Bruno dries, and Casita takes over putting the dishes away. The two Madrigal men always looked forward to these days because it gave them a chance to chat. Today's conversation topic: Bruno's new girlfriend, Ozma Pezmuerte.

"And...and she was sure it was dead?" asked Felix.

"Well, I'm no expert, but I'm fairly certain fish don't swim belly up," said Bruno, setting down the plate while Casita moved its tiles towards the pantry. "This is like the fifth time it's happened."

"Seventh," said Antonio blatantly. "Pico's been keeping track."

Felix just shook his head. "Ay. What is she doing with those fish, bro?"

Bruno flung up his hands, exasperated. "I don't know! I mean, she cleans the bowl regularly, she makes sure they get fed every day. She even talks to them! She treats those fish like they were her own children."

"It's the bowl."

Felix and Bruno turn to Antonio who was holding one of the coffee cups for Parce to lick. The boy said the statement so matter-of-factly that it made the two adult men feel foolish for not considering it, even though they had no clue what that meant.

"Why does the bowl matter, hijo?" asked Felix.

Antonio sighed, rolling his eyes. "It's simple. Bowls aren't natural to a fish. Nature intended them to swim in ponds, rivers, and oceans. You put them in a bowl, you're not only stressing them out by removing them from their natural habitat, you're also putting them in an environment that they're unable to thrive in. Basically, every time Pezmuerte puts a fish in a bowl, she's sentencing it to a slow and torturous demise."

Antonio then handed the cup to his flabbergasted father and took another dirty dish from the pile. The two men just looked at each other, stunned.

"How...how did you know all that, Antonio?" asked Felix, both impressed and slightly horrified.

Antonio shrugged. "The fish told me."

"You can talk to fish too?" asked Bruno.

"Yeah. They're really smart. It's kind of hard to hear them underwater, though."

Felix shook his head and went to clean the cup in the sink. "Well, there you have it. Ozma just can't have pet fish anymore. Problema resuelto."

"No! ¡No problema resuelto!" groaned Bruno. "This isn't fair. She's a good woman; she doesn't deserve this! She loves fish the same way I love rats. She won't even eat them!"

Bruno sighed heavily as he leaned over the counter, rubbing his temple. It had been a month since the festival celebrating the return of Casita and the magic. Bruno was so hesitant to attend on account of his history with the town. At first, it was difficult, even with Mirabel's encouragement. No matter how hard he tried to ignore them, he could still feel the people staring at him, whispering behind his back while he danced with his niece. Just when he felt that things were going to back to how they used to be - him being a lonely, reclusive man - Ozma approached him and asked him to dance. He had known Ozma since they were children and, yes, she did blame him at the time for the death of her first fish, they still held a good friendship. He had always known he had feelings for her, but never dreamed they'd be mutual.

Ever since the festival, Ozma and Bruno had been seen together a lot in the town. Walking to the market, lunch by the river. They were even caught once or twice in a loving embrace. Bruno was thrilled when he was able to give her a new goldfish, but now it seems that fish were never meant to be kept as her pets. He knew he'd eventually have to break the news to her...

"I just...I just wish I could fix this somehow," mused Bruno.

Felix pursed his lips and thought. "Well, let's see. Obviously, bringing fish to her isn't the answer. Sooo...what if you brought her to the fish?"

Bruno cocked an eyebrow at his brother-in-law. "What do you mean?"

Felix gave a sideways smirk to his youngest child. "I think Antonio might be able to help, right hijo?"

But Antonio was hesitant. "I dunno, Papi..."

"Come on, hombrecito!" chided Felix. "Do you it for your Tío! Look at this guy! Can't you see the passion that burns in his eyes for his lady love? Can't you hear his heart beating like drums inside his chest? The man wants nothing more than to cherish the rain that waters the ground Ozma walks upon and..."

"OH-KAY! Let's tone it down at bit!" snapped Bruno. He almost forgot how passionate Felix would get when talking about love. "B-but seriously, Antonio, I could really use your help."

Antonio looked to Parce who just shrugged, wanting to lick another dirty plate. "Ok, Tío Bruno, but first we have to lay some ground rules."

"Ok, ok, careful. We're almost there."

"Bruno, where are we going?"

"You'll see; just keep your eyes closed."

Later that evening, Bruno had convinced Ozma to talk a walk with him in the jungle. She inquired as to why and Bruno simply replied "I'm going to show you a new fishbowl I found." When they were getting close to their destination, Bruno asked Ozma to close her eyes as he led the rest of the way. While her eyes were closed, she could hear running water, only heightening her curiosity.

Finally, they came to a stop. "Can I open my eyes now?" she asked softly.

"Yes. Abre los ojos."

What Ozma saw before her took her breath away. Bruno had led her to a gorgeous jungle spring. It was the most beautiful sight she had ever seen. A luscious waterfall cascaded down large boulders into the clear, crystal waters. The foliage surrounding the large pool varied in vibrant shades of greens, pinks, oranges, and turquoise.

"Bruno," breathed Ozma, placing a hand to her chest. "This...this is wonderful!"

But Bruno wasn't done. "Look in the water," he encouraged, bringing her to the edge. She gazed into the pool and her smile grew even brighter. There were fish! Beautiful fish of all different shapes and colors. One looked much like a goldfish, but it was so large it could be the size of a trout! Very slowly, Ozma got on her knees and lightly traced her fingertips across the water's surface. One of the large colorful fish broke the surface, its large mouth opening and closing towards her hand. Clearly, it thought she was food. Ozma withdrew her hand, but still chuckled.

"They're called koi," said Bruno, sitting beside her. "Very similar to a goldfish."

"How did you find out about this place?" she asked, not taking her eyes off the fish as they swam.

"Weeeell, you can thank Antonio for that," Bruno smiled. "He found this place weeks ago. And the best part...." He then went to the edge of the trees and pulled back a few branches, showing a clear view of the town. "It's just a hop, skip, and a jump away. You can come here whenever you like. Just promise that none of the fish are removed? And, uh, check with me first before you bring any outside food. Antonio really wants to protect these little guys from...uh, he just wants them taken care of properly."

Ozma nodded in agreement. "I promise." She then stood and wrapped her arms around Bruno's waist, hugging him tightly. "This is the most beautiful fishbowl I've ever seen." She pulled back and gazed deeply into his eyes. "You truly are a wonderful man, Bruno Madrigal."

Bruno blushed and chuckled nervously. "I'm just happy I was able to - Mm!" Before he could finish, Ozma kissed him on the lips, causing his heart to soar. Melting into her arms, he closed his eyes and returned the kiss.

Meanwhile, a bit upstream, Felix and Antonio watched the two in their lovers' embrace. "That's our cue to vamos, Antonio," said Felix, lifting Antonio to his shoulders and heading back to town. "Thanks again for sharing your secret fish pond with them. I know they're gonna take good care of it."

"I hope so," grumbled Antonio. "I still think she kills fish for fun."

"Okay, we really gotta talk about your perspective on people..."

He gets sent to spy on and potentially assassinate a Mand'alor (EXTREMELY long story here, but tldr adult Boba brought Jango back from the dead and Jango's having a grand time fucking with everyone). Problem being that he doesn't yet have orders to kill Jango when someone else tries... so Vinir's gotta save Jango's life to protect his payday.

He gets assigned as Jango's bodyguard after that, because Boba insists Jango needs some protection in light of a very-nearly-successful kill job. Jango's view on this is "I will accept a bodyguard to prove that I am better than him and don't need him."

And then Vinir can keep pace with him and the two of them form a begrudging alliance that develops into a qpr. There is a shitload of drama down the line when Jango finds out why Vinir showed up in the first place, but they settle things eventually. There's stabbing involved but that's practically a love language for these guys. Truly nobody else could ever fucking deal with either of them.

Racer is a close second, though. She's a clone trooper, part of an ARC squad to be specific. She's their demolitions expert and she is wildly irresponsible with this. (If her responsible older brother/squad leader keeps finding dud grenades in his bunk, that's totally not her.) They have a broken microwave that she keeps microwaving random things in to see what happens (they explode, except the space Furby, which starts sparking and gets them all in trouble).

She's a chaos gremlin to the max and loves horrible jokes and puns. If she can find a way to cause trouble and bother her brothers, she will take it and add some glitter. She loves all things fast, and is a part-time underground speeder racer, hence her name. She has plans to make a career of it someday and could probably be pretty good at it!

There is more complicated AU nonsense at play here, like there is for basically all my Star Wars characters. TLDR is her squad, the Aces, get time travelled into the future where they can do whatever they like without the war going on.

Racer promptly starts flirting with a pirate captain, and gets not only a cool new job as a pirate but *counts on fingers again* three cool girlfriends. She heard 'be gay do crimes' and took it to the absolute max. If you know The Orion Experience, that's her vibes, especially All Dolled Up and The Cult of Dionysus. I support her in all she does.

And Cam my beloved <3 He's dating one of Racer's brothers, Ember, and she is constantly at risk of getting Bonked for playing the grindr sound effect whenever she sees them holding hands. And the one time she played the wedding march.

He's a marine biologist with a particular love for the stingray tank. He and Ember have a meetcute where Ember literally trips and falls into Cam, and Cam catches him and takes him to lunch. Ember spends the entire lunch listening to Cam infodump about coral and Cam is ready to propose right then and there.

(Meanwhile there's some minor drama going on in the background, because Ember suddenly disappeared during a family outing and they're all mildly concerned he's been kidnapped or fell into the shark tank or got eaten by a kraken or something. Nope, all he fell into were those big brown eyes.)

His secondary love, besides the ray tank, is the shark tank. Ember's always a little nervous to see him diving in there, but Cam has three different sharks who consider him a friend, and he loves all of them in return. They've never tried biting him and he's good at what he does, so he's pretty confident and calm about swimming with the sharks.

He also knows sign language, which means he can talk with the mermaid performers when they're in the tanks. He's called the mermaid whisperer, and every so often he gets a letter from a kid on a field trip who saw him talking with them, asking how the mermaids are doing. He keeps every letter framed in his office.

Do you have any meta/theory on the significance of the cleric/paladin d&d characters vs wizard/dungeon master. Is maybe one more Will and Mike's relationship and the other their role in the story as a whole? Sorry if you already mentioned this and this is redundant

Yeah, I’ve talked about it before. But why not talk about it again? It’s been a while- and Will’s recently published journal (plus st tweets) added more to this symbolism

The Duffers used Will and Mike’s d&d classes to say they’re soulmates! XD

Will in all 3 seasons identifies as a wizard- he even writes on the mixtape he makes “will the wise- wizard mix” (which is a different class than clerics). Even in s1 Will’s castle byer’s password was “rhadaghast” a lothr wizard.

But in s2 Mike (the paladin) says that Will is a cleric. Meaning this reflects how Mike (alone) actually feels about Will. In d&d, they have similar moral values, powers, and generally need and depend on each other in the lore of d&d.  Mike says Will is a cleric,despite Will still identifying as a wizard in s3, since it shows how deeply Mike actually feels about Will.

It shows he views Will as one of the only people who understands him and views him as a his moral compass 

“ strength of conviction gave many paladins a sense of common fellowship but did not always endear them to others. In many cases, paladins did not get along quite as well with other non-paladin adventurers, with the exception of clerics with similar beliefs.”

“A Paladin tries to hold to the highest standards of conduct, but even the most virtuous Paladin is fallible. Sometimes the heat of emotion causes a Paladin to transgress his or her oath (of honesty, courage, compassion, honor ,and duty). A paladin who has broken a vow typically seeks absolution from a cleric who shares his or her faith or from another paladin of the same order…

And Mike calls El a “mage” which wasn’t even a class in D&D (in the 80s)- A line he says to Max about zoomer (who he doesn’t like) …so… how much do you want to bet Mike was the one who made him and Will matching by giving him and Will “lawful good” (since this is writen in his starter kit). And he already ignored the fact Will is a wizard. 

But in Will’s recently published cannon journal he also does this- he keeps Lucas (Ranger) , Dustin (Bard) and his own character (a wizard) …but he changes Mike to a cleric !!!

Because Clerics have the strongest of healing abilities

Mike thinks Will brings out the best in him. And Will thinks Mike as someone who helps him heal. So they both call each other clerics.

D&D also represents their romantic relationship

when they fight in s3 Mike says “I’m not trying to be a jerk. We’re not kids anymore. I mean…what did you think? That we’d never get girlfriends. Play games for the rest of our lives?” And the truth is that’s actually what Mike wants- which is why he was upset about Will trying to give away the d&d game . And why he still has all of Will’s d&d pictures on his basement’s wall (which he’s kept on his wall for years- despite removing the old poster from the wall). And during Hopper’s speech, when it pans to Mike , Hopper says “I miss playing games every night.”

* He also caresses Will’s  d&d drawing- when he thinks he’s dead- and has a binder filled with every d&d drawing Will has ever given him.

 In the first ep - Will  admits he rolls a 7 (since he couldn’t lie to Mike)-  and in the last ep of s1 (they show us Mike smiling at Will right before Will rolls a 14- since they’re 7s together.) Mike even apologizes to EL saying “sorry I sound like a 7 year old.” When talking about how all 3 can play with toys & right after talking about Will visiting to play. and mentions Will’s rolls as a way to convince Lucas to help him look for him.And Mike even mentions Will rolls as a way to convince Lucas to help him look for him in the first ep.

Mike in the last ep in s1 ,writes a d&d story for Will.  in ep one Will tells Mike “it was a 7, the demogorgan it got me.”At the end of the season Mike writes a whole story of him and his friends killing a 7 headed monster, and showing the decapitated head of the monster to king Tristan (Will). Similar to how at the hospital he tells Will to not worry cause “it’s dead now”. This is right after Will rolls a 14 (cause Mike and Will are 7s together). And Mike who is a fan of starwars has King Tristan give them medals after killing the monster. Cause he wants Will/king tristan (instead of Leia -a girl) to present him with medals and be his romantic love interest (and praise him for being a hero)…

In the pilot, they even say Will uses d&d to “escape” his insecurities about his sexuality “like mike” & Mike uses d&d to “escape” his insecurities about not having a gf.  * And no, dustin & Lucas didn’t use d&d to “escape” anything- in the pilot script.

Mike angrily yells “El’s not stupid. It’s not my fault you don’t like girls” to himself- cause Will hit a nerve when saying mileven was ruining their friendship - because a part of Mike is trying to use El to put distance between him and Will . Dustin in s1 foreshadows the fight, saying “all you want to do is spent time with her… and you know it and he knows it. And nobody says anything until you’re yelling at eachother like goblins with intelligence scores of zero.” (Another  d&d ref/ ‘love makes you stupid’ ref.).

And also, maybe a part of him resents how Will is making him feel. So he says this whole speech , in the garage, to himself - to keep his romantic feelings for Will under control ( expecting Will to agree with the heteronormative statement). Which is why he was so shocked when Will (who he assumes is straight) and he expects would agree -  instead says “yeah, I guess I did. I really did.” (about never getting gfs but instead being together for the rest of their lives). 

And the  “crazy together” scene (which is romantic since both Mike & Flo both equate love making you ‘crazy’. Flo says “ only love makes you crazy and that damn stupid”). And the ‘crazy together’ scene also has a zoom-in on Mike’s d&d game.

Mike and Will both love each other (and El is just confused). He wants to be with Will- but he’s scared. The Hopper dialogue even says “Lately, I feel like you’re pulling away from me or something? I miss playing board games every night.” Mike was upset when Will gives the game up- but Will says “I’ll just play with yours when I come back… if we still want to play?” In other words- the ball is in Mike’s court- if he wants Will, he has to initiate it. Because Will assumes he was “stupid” to think he had a chance. Mike is also acting “stupid” because he’s pushing away Will despite loving him, and hurting him in the process (the opposite of a cleric).

But Mike in s4 will admit his feelings to Will… since after Will says this line, Mike asks

“Yeah, but what happens if you want to join another party? ” (find someone else (‘another’) before that- the other ‘species’, or just someone else: girl, guy or otherwise?”

But Will decides to make himself vulnerable and just be honest,  and shyly admits “Not possible” (much to Mike’s happiness)

so yes- this tweet is about byler

They even answered the question of ‘what makes Mike crazy’ with one’ joke’ response - of Will asking about d&d. And in a separate post made fun of mileven by ending it with “can we just play d&d?”

And when, Mike and Will open up to each other about their mental-health issues,  that’s when they both agree that no matter what they’ll be together- “crazy together”. It’s a double entendre - they’re crazy cause they’re in love- but also “crazy” and will be “together” to help each other through their issues.  This theme is double-downed on in Will’s cannon journal (where it’s established “crazy together” is shown to be Mike & Will’s thing- not mileven’s). As Mike tells Will to tell him when he’s having ptsd episodes since- they're “crazy together”.

*Will draws Mike’s d&d character next to the sticky-note. And we also see throughout Will’s whole journal- Mike’s d&d character is always by Will’s (d&d character’s side). And on the cover of his journal Will ONLY draws his and Mike’s character- cause they’re “crazy together”.

Mike specifically says to get him when he’s having ptsd episodes about the mf (which represent Will’s se*ually abusive father- theory here/ here).

That’s what love is - like Flo said only love makes you “crazy” and “stupid” and this is only applicable to byler.  Mike and Will love and  bring out the best in each other-  heal each other. Being “crazy together” to Mike is about being selfless and wanting the best for you partner’s happiness no matter what- with mileven it was simply a way to excuse his poor behavior to El (under the guise of ‘love’).

 For all the supernatural stuff to stop , Will has to face his trauma and heal. This involves having a strong support  (of friends and family) and Will learning to not hate himself any longer, because of his past abuse and sexuality. And to stop correlating his love (for Mike) with his past abuse/trauma (represented by the monsters. And Mike and Will have to embrace their love for each other. And let go of their shame. When Will ‘dies’ in s1, Mike hugs his mom ,and  Heroes plays, and the lyrics are “and we kiss as though nothing could fall and the shame… was on the other side.” In s1 the term “other side” was used to describe the upside down. So it’s saying Will’s shame relating to Lonnie will eventually be on the other side, and so Mike and Will kiss ‘as though nothing could fall’. In Will’s journal he even draws Mike’s d&d character again with the caption “never Kenny Roggers”. This is because Jonathan asks ‘who would you rather  be friends with David bowie or Kenny roggers?”. And Heroes was originally sung by David Bowie- making the byler hint of this being ‘their song’, more apparent. The cannon Will-comic is even titled  the “other side” and Mike is on the opposite end (‘the other side’ waiting for Will who is trapped in the upside down looking up at the imposing figure of the demogorgan). The demorgogan in blue light and mike in opposing red light. The monsters Will created are based on the d&d game and his prior abuse at the hands of lonnie. But byler’s love is also represented by d&d- and thus the only way to stop it.

HAPPY NEW YEAR YOU GUYS!!! Here's an official Nia ref with her Backstory!

=============BACKSTORY==============

Nia was born on the planet Ryloth, located in the Outer Rim Territories of the galaxy. She was born not in a big city, but on a small village to her mother, Silene Aeor'Hana, and her father Andan Aeor'Hana. She also had two older brothers, Cassier and Kehel. After the end of the Clone Wars, Ryloth was under the control of the Galactic Empire. This new seige of power caused life to change on Ryloth, especially Nias. Nias father Andan, was sent off and forced to work doing hard labor for years when Nia was only a child. Leaving her mother, Silene to raise her and her brothers all by herself. Although life was hard on Ryloth, Silene tried her best to make sure her kids were living life to the fullest. Silene had Nia and her two brothers help out on their family's farm that was located away from their main village to maintain secrecy. During this seemingly peaceful time, Silene made the decision to teach Nia and her brothers the basics of self defense. Given the situation their planet was in, Silene made sure they were able to handle themselves if they were ever in a tough spot. Silene taught Nia how to be independent, and to not rely on others. She taught Nia how to be headstrong and that hardwork and dedication is necessary to achieve your goals. Although life was hard on Ryloth, Nia and her brothers made the best of it by helping out their mother and supporting each other through it all.

Sadly, this would all change when Nias village was raided by The Empire. Silene thought their isolated farm wouldn't be discovered by the imperial forces. But once she heard about their main village being raided, she desperately tried to quickly pack up her and her kids stuff so they could escape. But it was too late, The Empire had discovered their isolated farm and forcibly separated Nia and her brothers from Silene. Nia desperately cried out for her family as they dragged her away and forced her to join the other captured Twi'Leks. Silene called out to her children, fighting the troopers who her holding her down and preventing her from going after them. Unfortunately, one of the troopers grew tired with her constant thrashing and retaliation. That one trooper shot her dead on the spot. Nia didn't see this, and neither did her brothers. Nia would be about 18 at the time she was separated from her family. She would be sold into slavery, passed around until she was auctioned off to Jabba the Hutt. Nia would be one of his personal slaves on Tatooine. She would be tasked with serving drinks and meals to guests, putting on a show for the guests and Jabba to enjoy, and to really sit there and look pretty.

Nia at this point, lost most of her bubbly personality, and became bitter and resentful. She despised everyone she came across during her time as one of Jabbas slaves. One person who she couldn't stand, was none other than the bounty hunter Boba Fett. He frequented Jabbas establishment mainly on jobs and to collect bounties. But on some occasions he would make himself at home, and Nia caught him practically flirting with the dancers and slaves. That was what made her hate him the most. She wanted nothing to do with him, and actively avoided him as much as possible. Until one day when she was serving him a drink, and he tried to flirt with her. Nia of course, wanted nothing to do with him and rejected his advances on multiple occasions. Until one day, in private, she snapped at him. Telling him the truth about what she thinks of him, and breaking his bubble completely. She delivered this speech to him, and stormed off back into the main area of Jabba's establishment:

"You know why I'm upset? I'm upset because you are ignorant. You CHOOSE to be ignorant. I'm upset because when I was just 18 years old I was ripped away from my mother and sold as a slave. While my mother SCREAMED and BEGGED for her child to be returned, the soldiers turned a blind eye to her. I was forced into a cattle truck along with many members of my village where we had cuffs around our wrists. We were brought into auctions where we were reduced to nothing but objects with a price tag. While you sat in your high towers drinking vodka, I was chained to a wall. With nothing but a pile of pillows on the floor and a 5ft chain around my NECK. And yet while my people SCREAMED and BEGGED for help, you CHOSE to ignore their cries because It did not concern you. I was beaten by my owner if I stepped out of line in the SLIGHTEST. And I was nothing more to him than object he could admire and get off too. I was forced to do sexual acts against my will, and if I didn't comply I would be killed and thrown away like TRASH. I was worth nothing to him. So while you sat there, drinking and living the high life- I was being TORTURED. And while you sat there, having sex with prostitutes and flirting with enslaved women- my people were DYING at the hands of the empire. And while you sit here and party, every second, every MINUTE- My planet suffers at the hands of various crime lords. And yet you continue to ignore their suffering while KNOWING what they're being put through. You chose to ignore them because it did not concern you. So while you sit here, IGNORANT to the fact you are privileged- I will be fighting to free my planet. I will be fighting for children who were like me- who never had the chance to grow up and live a normal life. I will be fighting for the parents who had their children RIPPED AWAY FROM THEM. That was the last time she ever spoke to Boba Fett. And shortly after this incident, she was sold again, this time to a general on the infamous Death Star. Surprisingly, being on the Death Star wasn't as horrible as being in control of Jabba the Hutt. Nia was mostly alone, as her owner was usually always busy. This was a blessing for Nia, as she knew as long as she was alone, she wouldn't be hurt. She did know however, that her owner had a major anger problem. This would eventually be her downfall. Nia was secretly conversing with a stormtrooper aboard the Death Star and trying to devise a plan that would free the both of them. Her owner found out about their secret nighttime meetings and was absolutely FURIOUS. So furious that he permanently blinded her by tossing chemicals into her eyes. Saying that she would "finally never see him again". Nia was feeling completely hopeless at this point, feeling it was better to die than to continue living this life. This was the first time she ever felt truly hopeless. Luckily for her though, the same stormtrooper still visited her. After they had gotten word of a rebel attack against the Death Star. The stormtrooper led Nia to an escape pod, where she thanked them, and the course was set for the rebel base. The stormtrooper knew she would be taken care of there, and would never have to live a life of slavery ever again.

Okay, here’s what I’ve been working on this past forever. Batman and Robin: Born to Kill fanart + Robin: Son of Batman fanart. featuring: Maya and Damian + their dads, then their dads in civvies and hating each other, their dads in costumes and fighting each other, Maya and Damian in civvies and loving each other, and Maya and Damian in costumes and fighting together.

I mostly did this giant image set cuz I wanted to contrast their relationships. IDK why, but I really like comparing it in my head, even though by time Maya comes on screen, Morgan’s been dead for a bit. I also have no clue whether she made her Nobody costume after he was dead or not. I just wanted to draw them together like Batman and Robin, TBH.

(Also, the fight scenes weren’t reffed directly from the comics, but the civilian clothes and scenery was).
