Her name is Xyra and she’s pakistans one and only beloved (actually hated 🤓) spider-girl!!!!!

She’s loud, brash, overly confident, friendly, annoying and cheeky (oh and incredibly mischievous like she has a serious problem cooking up horrific ideas)

Ive got a bunch of more drawings of her without her mask and ima share it soon. This was just some practice of her but you can tell I’m incredibly indecisive on what her suit should look like.

just wanted to send my love to the muslims who are spending eid without their extended families. every year, i see people celebrate eid with their cousins, uncles, aunts, etc. and have these incredible feasts and great company. not everyone has that. some of us have to resort to a whatsapp call to our extended families and stay at home with our parents and siblings whilst having a humble meal.

it’s an odd type of loneliness...so im sending my love and blessings to you all

Y’all-

Y’ALL!!! When that BITCH had her shoes on in the mosque in Ms. Marvel, I felt physical pain and I’m not even Muslim, I just know basic stuff about other religions to better be respectful so I know you shouldn’t do that (and also, shoes on ANY carpet are yuck, let alone a holy one). And I know it was to demonstrate how evil she was but I legit cannot imagine how much more impact it must have had to Muslims.

Also, I recommend anyone who liked ms marvel (or loved it, like I did!!!) to go back and learn some basic things about Islam and Pakistani culture and THEN go back and rewatch it because knowing the little details and thought that went into the world building are phenomenal (and I probably missed much to most!!!)

From the deep significance of partition being featured, to funny little details like the halal/haram hats (when I tell you I BARKED, I laughed so loud. Also for ppl who are Jewish like me, halal/haram are roughly similar to the kosher/treyf dichotomy of allowed/forbidden, pls actual Muslims correct me if I have anything wrong).

Anyway, ms Marvel was a great show, I loved it, SUPER IMPORTANT (it’s not perfect, as I understand it, but this is so important to young Muslim girls and desi girls) and having a very basic background knowledge of Pakistani culture and Islam in general can really enhance watching the show so I recommend all non-Muslims and/or non-south Asians go back and do some basic research, not only because learning is fun, but also because it opens your eyes to a lot of the painstaking thought and detail put into this show. It really was a labor of love on behalf of everyone involved, and even imagining how much it must mean to the people it was created for the most makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

Also- fun linguistic research- Hindi vs Urdu. They’re pretty mutually intelligible, as I understand it, and it’s one of those language dichotomies where the labelling of different languages is largely by political boundaries versus linguistic ones- fascinating research. Although, with language change, I’m sure it will diverge more and more in the coming generations, and the divide is probably more pronounced than it was 80 years ago. Anyway, that’s just my inner linguistics nerd talking, but it’s super fascinating!

Is anyone else watching Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha? I ship Maheer & Areeb and I hate that they would sink this ship 😭 coz you know it's a Pakistani drama and we can't win. Like for once can we not have a typical storyline and have something unique!?!?! I'm tired.

I know they're going to make Areeb (or at least most likely his family) the villain and justify forcing Maheer to marry Saad. Like in a "I told you so" and "this is why love marriages (without the happiness of parents involved) aren't right and doomed for failure" type of way.

The storyline would have been so much better if they had pursued Maheer x Areeb storyline instead. I personally feel respect>>>>love but i hate hate hate how this drama is going to twist the concept I love and make Areeb some obsessive man who couldn't stand up for the woman he claims to love.

The only thing I love is the cast coz they are such amazing actors and the ost (and tbh the initial plot as well coz it had so much potential but I know damn well in what direction it will go and that is downhill).
