No no you don't understand! I want to watch this show/movie, read this book, listen to this podcast, etc.! But I must be in the right mindset and the exact head space to begin, or I just can't!

question: do ppl ACTUALLY say things they don’t mean when they’re angry? or is that just an excuse after letting something true slip? i wouldn’t ever say something i don’t mean in anger, so the concept confuses me.
but something was said to me that is bothering me, though apparently was said in an argument and wasn’t meant. but i don’t rlly believe it wasn’t like, deep down true thoughts/feelings??? anyone have any insight? anyone say things they don’t mean in anger?
EDIT: this was a hastily worded post that i didn’t expect to get notes. this is a genuine question asked in good faith that i got a lot of amazing answers to!
also re: the many ppl saying “OP is lying about not saying things they don’t mean in anger because everyone does it”— i genuinely have never done that. if i say something mean while angry, i meant it. that’s literally why i asked this question and why the concept confuses me, because i wouldn’t do something like that so i wanted perspective from people who do it. idk why y’all can’t believe that lmao not everyone is as prone to anger and outbursts

Me: “I can’t be autistic, I don’t have sensory issues.”
Also Me-
- The person who told me to try freezing grapes is my enemy.
- *Physically gagging from trying to eat a freeze dried strawberry*
- “I can’t sleep, my shirt is on.”
- This yogurt had pieces of fruit in it so I will let it spoil in the back of my fridge and die of starvation before I eat it.
- If anyone touches me right now I will become a safety hazard
- *Throwing myself off of furniture*
- Something is crinkling SOMEWHERE in the next room and if I don’t find it and destroy it I will never sleep again.
- This person’s headlights were too bright for 0.5 seconds and now I will have a migraine for the next 4 hours.
- My hands are wet MY HANDS ARE WET MAKE IT STOP
- What do you mean these clothes are dry? They’re clearly still damp, how do you not feel it? They’re still damp!
- These two rocks rubbed against each other and made a noise and I think I may have broken a tooth from clenching my jaw so hard
- If I am forced to wear jeans for more than 0.3 seconds upon entering my home I’m going to start crying
- Frosted Glass = Evil
- Yes I am going to “waste money” buying pre-peeled garlic because peeling garlic makes my hands sticky and I hate it.
- Stopping to wash my hands every 5 minutes while cooking because I can’t stand having things on my hands.

"hey google how do I recover from a meltdown?"
The results:
"if your child--"
"if your autistic child is having a meltdown "
"[anything by autism speaks]"
"what to do if your toddler has a tantrum"

the pipeline of :
finding out you’re autistic —> becoming hyper aware of your autistic traits —> having imposter syndrome because you think the hyper awareness is actually just you faking it

Turns out that when you don't want your neurodivergent child to develop "negative" or "childish" coping mechanisms, you should be more actively involved in helping them cope instead of pretending there's nothing wrong and blatantly denying the child's issues.
Don't be upset that I don't have the skills you never taught me <3

one of the weird things about autism is genuinely not knowing if you are capable of doing something or not
