Long-term Reparations for a Black Family
The below write-up is from a previous post I made for Courtney but I copy and pasted it as I'm fatigued and it's still relevant.
For those of you who know my blog, you know my friend Courtney needs support. The reality is it is unlikely that that will change soon given that she is a disabled single mom providing for 3 kids with a low-wage job. I love her dearly and she genuinely struggles every day. I want to make the world better for her. I talk often about the power of community care. Courtney needs this consistently. If you are a non-Black person who is financially secure, please consider giving her reparations every month or biweekly. I will put her paylinks below. To work towards and as an accomplice of Black liberation, you need to be committed.
This part is not copy pasted but new.
Currently, her family is struggling with food, getting their water on, and saving for next month's rent. They don't have water at the moment and her son has no clean underwear left. They really need the water back on. The sooner the better. They need 136 more to get the water. If you see this, please send a dollar if possible, or even 50 cents. Small donations add up. Give reparations consistently and commit, but if you can't do it consistently still help out when you can.

Civil Unrest Brief: Summary BLUF: Overview of protests globally with U.S. emphasis; Jane's Revenge attacks pregnancy center, SPLC stokes anti-self-defense protests, Dutch farmers protest against climate change overreach. In Minneapolis, MN on March 3rd; activists associated with 'Jane's Revenge' vandalized First Care, a pro-life pregnancy center. They broke windows with a hammer and graffitied the center with wordings of "If abortions arn’t safe neither r u” and “Jane was here". The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is renewing civil unrest in the case of a man who was killed in Florida in 2018 in which the SPLC says the legalities of the self-defense centric "Stand Your Ground" (Justifiable Use of Force) statute in founded in "White supremacy" and "vigilantism". SPLC highlights a historian opinion that certain occasions of self-defense are "historical structures of white supremacist and patriarchal power". This comes after a White man (Fraser) shot a Black man (Broadus) in what the court found to be self-defense. A civil case against the man was set to begin trial in May (now postponed to October) which will likely see 'Black Lives Mattter' aligned activists, LGBT activist (due to alleged domestic homosexual relations between the two), and gun control activists join in protest against the right to self-defense. 50,000 activists in the Netherlands, who are opposed to the government's mandated "European Nitrate Directive". These opposed to the directive, known as "Agenda 2030" support farmers and their autonomy. The directives call for a 50% to 95% reduction in nitrogen pollution by 2030 which could force 11,000+ farms to close and another 17,000+ to downsize production. 54,000 agricultural businesses would be impacted. Those supporting the directive say the goal is to "curb the emissions that cattle farming produces with its digestion of feces and urine." Those opposed to the directive say "The voice of the People systematically gets ignored. With regard to the nitrogen ‘crisis’: it only exists on paper." An incomplete list of helpful things mainstream BLM discussion is putting to the forefront
and why we should KEEP it mainstream until change finally comes!
(I promise not to get traumatic with the material)
The countless other cases beyond George Floyd of previously-unrecognized fallen black friends whose police murderers have yet to be accounted for.
The negative consequences of “All Lives Matter” and similar derivatives.
The negative consequences of silence, complicity, obstruction, and performative activism with no calls to action.
The widespread desire for not just the inoffensive and ineffective incremental reform, but the absolute abolishment of police/justice systems as they stand.
Every single time the police make a “wholesome” or “in-solidarity” gesture to go viral, they immediately lie and open fire on protestors unprovoked once the cameras turn off.
Every single time the govt/police outright lie in easily disprovable ways, from the NYPD claiming a Rolex store was looted by protestors to Trump denying any use of tear/CS gas.
The countless times the police have attacked and seized peaceful protestors completely unprovoked, with increasing ferocity, fraudulence, illegality -- and most importantly -- scorn and contempt from the public.
The countless times protestors and observers have remained peaceful, constitutional, and caring of their fellow man as TV news characterized them as riots while hyperfocusing on looters.
Methods to keep protestors safe, from the rights to protect themselves, to the communal knowledge of “don’t show protestor faces on social media”, to the weapons the police are using and how to deal with them before they’re deployed. (this is really important imo!!!!)
The countless instances of protestors still caring more about public health during the COVID-19 pandemic while beaches, casinos, and other high-traffic areas are so impatient to restimulate the economy that nobody there even wears face masks.
The widespread reputation of “All cops are bastards”, in part due to the increased knowledge of the “good cops” who challenge systemic racism and brutality end up fired, abused, and/or killed by their former kin.
Debunking of widespread misconceptions and misinformation, from the campaign to raise Derek Chauvin’s charges (we can’t prove it was premeditated, let alone in court procedure) and the DC Blackout (sourced to a troll account with 3 followers), to safety concerns like fake “protests” (baits for lynching) and various ineffective safety measures against police during protests.
Ways to game and overwhelm social media systems into shutting down the spread and visibility of hate movements (thanks, Kpop stans! Stan Loona!)
The practically-nonexistent and lackadaisical regulations police are held to, from pathetically tiny training periods to their ability to stay on the force despite multiple severe transgressions they are presently NOT obligated to tell the public.
The absurdly disproportionate allocation of major city funds towards the police for a perception of crime only caused by a lack of funds towards constructive services like jobs, physical and mental healthcare, education, livable wages, food security, etc.
The amount of oppressive bills govts are trying to sneakily pass while everyone’s “distracted” to hope nobody notices.
The countless small businesses (especially black-owned) neglected by the govt and left unable to participate without outsider funding in the oh-so-precious economy it scrambled to revitalize.
Resources and charitable movements to help those within the black community in need.
The power of community bail funds and their ability to power many illegitimately-arrested through legal processes with highly-maximized and recyclable charity cash.
The endless list of incredibly talented black individuals with bright potential careers in the arts, sciences, humanities, etc. but were lost solely due to racial discrimination, and yet continue to fight for their right to work anyway.
Increased movement towards building allies through empathy with understanding of mental health over callous and antagonistic threats of ostracism.
Increased prevalence of introducing anti-racism to children and respecting their ability to think.
The knowledge that just because George Floyd’s killers were charged, that doesn’t mean black lives are completely saved, and that they should ALWAYS matter, not just today or tomorrow. There’s still so much work to be done.
The countless news showing how much the protests are working, and how much progress we are making as a movement and as a people. At our current pace, as long as our demands remain loud and visible, we should be expecting change soon.
Thank you for bringing these to the light, everyone! If we keep talking, we can keep up with, if not outpace whatever the opposition throws at us!
The more we stay informed, the more we can endure, and the more the police/govts will continue making themselves look like failures that will have no choice but to change for the better.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — A poll worker in Memphis, Tennessee, has been fired after turning away early voters who were wearing “Black Lives Matter” and “I Can’t Breathe” shirts, an elections official said Monday.
The worker was fired Friday after officials received a call from a witness at the Dave Wells Community Center in Memphis, Shelby County Election Commission spokeswoman Suzanne Thompson said.
Tennessee law does not allow voters to wear items bearing the name of a candidate or a political party in a polling place. But state law does not prohibit statements such as “Black Lives Matter,” Thompson said.
The number of voters who were told to leave was not immediately known, but Thompson said it was only a few. The poll worker thought the statements were tied to the Democratic Party, Thompson said.
“That was pretty bad,” she said. “They were not supposed to be turned away.”
Early voter turnout ahead of the Nov. 3 election has been strong in Memphis and throughout Tennessee. Early voting ends Oct. 29 in the state.
More of a commentary on how well conservative figureheads have associated BLM with official Democratic Party affiliation, overlooking the very reasons why the movement even exists.
