So I just learned today that Disintegrate is in fact a Transmutation spell, not an Evocation one.

My brain is just hard-wired to think of most damage spells as Evocation, so I read the description of how it works and went “Okay, shoots a beam, must be Evocation.”

No, apparently this isn’t a death ray that zaps you and reduces you to ash, it’s a weird transformation beam that transforms your entire body into dust.
