So. In the episode Micro Management. Jack Fenton says that his Fenton Crammer is able to "shrink ghosts."
And while the Crammer does shrink ghosts. -aka Skulker and Danny-
You know who else it shrinks? Dash.
So that begs the question.
Is Dash fully human?

The Batclan get in the same vicinity as the Fenton parents.
They end up receiving a blast from the Fenton Crammer [its basically a shrink/grow ray for those that don't know].
Danny and Jazz only find out when both of them find their own mini-vigilante.
Now, they have to get the device back. However, Jack had been modifying it, so its kind of in parts. Danny has to use his smarts to fix the dumb thing.
Jazz is running distraction against the parents.
-----
Really it could be any group of DC characters.
Identity reveals?
Technus trying to take the Crammer while Danny is working on it.

"Jack, on the other hand, pulls an uno reverse on Bruce. Bruce thought he was adopting a black haired and blue eyed teen with angst issues. Nope! Jack now has a new reclusive rich best friend! They're family, practically brothers! You want to run for Gotham mayor and end city crime? Anything you say B-man!"
-.-.-.-
Because how did we miss the sheer comedic potential of Jack Fenton deciding that Bruce Wayne is his new BFF? Forget bad parents Fentons. They did an one-eighty once they found out Danny was Phantom. Decided to be super supportive instead - and when Phantom befriends other heroes this suddenly is everyone's problem.
They're especially enthusiastic about the bats (maybe Danny or Jazz is dating one of them?) and Jack glomps on to Bruce.
Like Jack is enthusiastic, and he can't take hints. He is in Bruce's personal space. He slaps him on the back. This totaly-not-a-meta picks him up and hugs him. The grumpy goth in Bruce doesn't know how to handle this! He is having a crisis!
Jack knows about Batman, and still does it to Bruce (B finally managed to enforce some boundaries while he is in costume, but it was fraught). How did this happen??

Aheem... prompt from @regonold
16 Hours
Danny remembers the first time something shorted out his powers. Vlad with his stupid Plasmius Maximus thing. Well, 'remembers'. Mostly he remembers the aftermath.
Apparently Vlad hadn't known at the time exactly how Danny ended up half ghost. He thought it had been a slower progression like his own development. It hadn't occurred to him that Danny's original death had been much quicker.
Danny remembers a short, light shock. Really, the spector deflector was worse. But this shock... suddenly his muscles were seizing, his heart stuttering, his Lichtenbergs burning. And then, nothing. A blank space in Danny's head that apparently spanned 3 hours.
Next thing he knows, they're in some kind of vehicle. There are sirens outside (a police escort, Danny would later learn). His mom is driving like her life depends on it. And Vlad is giving him chest compressions, looking grieved and panic striken. He's crying. They both are.
"Please tell me you didn't have to kiss me." His voice comes out pained and raspy. Mom almost crashes the vehicle.
"No, Little Badger. Thankfully, you kept breathing. Just your heart that was struggling." Vlad chuckled, guilty yet relieved.
It was another hour before they made it to the nearest hospital from the stupid hunting cabin. 6 more for all the stupid medical tests. "An accident," Vlad told them. "Small shock, but with an already weak heart..."
Any other time, Danny might have argued. Tried to make Vlad admit more guilt. But the whole ordeal had exhausted him to much to care then.
The second time was marginally better. At least with the Fenton Crammer, it was a steady loss. And Danny managed to fix it before his healing factor fully failed. It still hadn't been pleasant, fighting Skulker and dealing with Dash while phantom echoes of his death arced across his body. But he'd managed.
This. This is so much worse. Danny thought it would be like the Crammer again. A steady decline. But it isn't.
And it isn't like the Maximus either, a one then done, pain then nothing, dying then dead, moment.
No. This is more like the blood blossoms. This is torture. This is hell.
The suppression cuffs let just enough of his power bleed through, just enough healing factor, to keep him alive. Alive and in agony for... hours? Days? Weeks? Minutes? Danny couldn't really tell. His thoughts had long since turned to nothing but static and pain. All he knew was that time was passing around him while he was here, suffering on the absolute brink of death yet unable to embrace it.
Oh god he wanted to die. Please just let him die already! It's too much. A death that should only last a few seconds drug out into an eternity. His muscles ached with the strain of being locked up. His insides were broiling from the electric heat. His heart stuttered and stopped and started and stuttered. It hurts. It hurts. It hurts!
He might have been screaming. He might have been Wailing. Or he might he been choking on weak uneven breaths. Danny didn't know. Didn't care to know. Didn't care if he ever found out the details of his time in chains. He just wanted, no needed, it to end. But it just dragged on and on and on. And Danny was lost in it.
Too far gone to even realize when it ended.
.
Batman hadn't been there when the new meta appeared, quite literally materializing from nowhere in the conference room mid-meeting. He had been dealing with a mass Arkham breakout at the time. So he wasn't there. An unfortunate fact which will haunt him for the rest of his life and possibly beyond.
He should have been there. If he had only been there...
He didn't blame his team mates. They didn't know. Who would have guessed that simple power suppression cuffs could ever be an instrument of torture. He'd never considered it possible.
He didn't blame his team mates. How could he blame them? Batman wasn't even the one to connect the dots. Red Robin figured it out. He always was good at stringing together thoughts know one else would think to connect.
Red Robin asked the right questions. He figured out in 5 minutes what the rest of the league and the best doctors -not technically- on earth had been agonizing over for 16 hours.
16 hours too long.
He should have been here. Should have come sooner.
"Don't know, B!" Flash had met him at the Zetas, already rambling at top speed before he could reorient himself after teleportation. Everyone else had gone home, unable to help and needing to tend to their own cities and responsibilities.
"He just- He appeared out of nowhere while we were in meeting. Didn't trip any alarms or nothing. Just popped up. We figured it had to be teleportation, but he'd have to know where the Watchtower was to do that.
So we figured, you know, random kid teleporting into the Watchtower during a Justice League meeting. Not good. Big threat. Bats would tell us to detain. So we did.
But before we could get him to a holding cell, there was this flash of light and he changed or something. He had white hair and green eyes and some sort of jumpsuit on when he appeared.
But after the light he had black hair and a t-shirt and jeans and I actually didn't see his eyes cause he just collapsed on the spot.
Started convulsing or seizing or something. And screaming. God, B, the screaming... So we took him to medbay and...
He's dying B. He has to be. He's got a fever that keeps spiking and dropping, his muscles keep spasming, and his heart keeps giving out...
He looks 14. He looks like..."
Flash had trailed off there, as they reached medbay. Bruce understood his reluctance to complete that sentence as soon as he saw the boy.
He looks like a Robin.
Like all 4 of his sons combined.
Like someone mixed Dick's and Jason's faces and put it on Tim's body at Damian's age.
It can't even be a trick. The suppression cuffs are nullifying his abilities. This is what he truly looks like.
His sons.
In pain.
In agony for 16 hours because Batman prioritized Gotham over an emergency on the Watchtower.
"When exactly did you say he collapsed."
"When we were moving him to a holding cell after we caught him. He was a trick to catch too. He-"
Red Robin cut him off. "Yeah, sure. But when exactly did this start. What happened immediately before?"
Flash was less then pleased about being interrupted, but acquiesced after a look from Batman. Tim had an idea. Tim was on to something. "Like I said, just after we caught him and got the cuffs on so he'd stop slipping away again."
Bruce couldn't keep the growl out of his voice one he realized what Tim was suggesting. Of course he knows it wasn't their fault. He's told all of them as much since. But in the moment...
"Take them off!"
"What?"
"It's the cuffs! Take the damn cuffs off! They're killing him!"
Flash wasted no more time, bolting out of the room to fetch the disabler. Tim didn't bother waiting for the fastest man alive. He had the cuffs disabled before Flash would have been able to swipe his access card into the detainment center storage room. Bruce practically threw the cuffs out of the room in his haste to get them away.
The change had been... not nearly as quick as Bruce would have liked. The heartrate settled out almost instantly, although into something a bit too slow for comfort. But it was steady and Bruce knew nothing about this kid's normal physiology so he counted it a win.
The screaming, of course, had long since choked off. According to Flash's report, his vocal cords failed after about an hour. But his facial expressions still indicated consciousness, though not awareness.
The muscles stopped spasming and unlocked slowly over the course of several minutes. Flash was back by then, looking a bit put out to have lost a race against Red Robin. Batman could not give a single flying fuck about Flash's ego right then.
Shortly after his muscles unlocking was when he finally passed out. Once more, Batman thought about 16 hours. 16 hours and he hadn't even been able to slip into unconsciousness for relief. He should have been here.
The fever was the slowest to break. In that it still hadn't broken almost 2 hours later. Batman had sent Tim and Flash home after Red Robin finished squeezing all the details he could out of Barry. Tim had given him a look before leaving, some mixture of worry and mischief. "Should I tell Agent A to prepare a room?" Bruce just rolled his eyes and shooed him off. Hopefully to bed. Knowing his son, probably not. Tim was most likely still up doing research. Bruce wanted to call Alfred to wrangle Tim to sleep.
But calling Alfred would mean leaving the room so the still potentially a threat meta couldn't hear if he woke up. And Bruce couldn't leave him. Not until the fever broke. Not until he woke up. Not until he knew the boy that looked like his sons would be okay.
Not until he could apologize for being late.
16 hours.
16 hours too late.

thinking about how smart jack and maddie fenton are. like it's actually insane the kinds of gadgets they've made. the specter speeder is par for the course as far as sci-fi goes, but it's one of the few vehicles in the show that floats, no wheels. they built an entire portal to a different dimension in their basement. they have force fields. the ecto-skeleton. the crammer, which shrinks and grows people. maddie has an ecto lightsaber?? and all that only scratches the surface. their level of genius is paralleled only by danny's op-ness.

I was rereading a Dead Marvel x Danny Phantom crossover ( last updated in 2014, RIP ) called Marvel Phantom by Slayer Anderson, and here is the Summary.
So...the Fentons punch a hole through to the afterlife in their basement, and develop unparalleled hover technology and...they're crackpots?
In that fic, that gets played seriously because they showed their tech and a brief glimpse of the Ghost Zone to the News for an interview on their studies and everyone on the planet, from Companies to the Military, wants their tech.
Like they made a physic cancelers shd gravity inverters for their hover machines to study ghosts, not knowing that what they did went beyond groundbreaking and make every technology look like it came from the stone age.
That they are actually geniuses that do genius things despite being 'kooky.'
And you know what, that author is right. Are there any other stories out there where someone stops and says 'You built a what in your basement that did what?!
Sure, Amity is Amity which deals with weird supernatural shit, so they get a pass on not actually stopping and thinking that, but what's everyone else excuse?
Suddenly imagine everyone knows about FentonTech and what they can do.
Remember the Fenton Crammer that can shrink humans and inanimate objects? And if a ghost gets shrunk, their powers get weaker? That can be very useful to transport stuff that would had taken time and money.
Or how they have a what's basically a futuristic tank for a RV that has a lot of space?
Or that they have an Emergency Ops Center on their home that can turn into a hover vehicle.
All of the anti-ghost weapons.
I can go on and on, but things can get funny/ hairy real fast.
Wayne Ent, Lex Corp, Cadmus, every military will want a generous piece of that Fenton Pie, with the Fentons going, what's the big deal? We only made this for ghosts and shit. Whatever happened because of that was a happy accident.
Also imagine Lex Luthor about to pop a blood vessel, and holding himself back from throttling Jack during a talk .
Lex: 'Let me get this straight. You built a pocket-sized mini nuclear reactor that can power the US for six generations at full capacity and still have the juice to power an extra two, and instead of using that to for the betterment of mankind and showing those aliens ( cough Superman cough ) their place, you use it to power a pastry machine homemade peanut butter FUDGE!?'
Jack: Gourmet peanut butter fudge! :D it even makes pies and cookies. That nice Superhero with that A on his chest sure loved the Apple Pie it made!
Luthor: *collaspes and start to foam at the mouth out of rage, shock and disbelief*
Vlad that was sitting at a corner: *Sniff*. 'Welcome to my world.'
Bro this is HILARIOUS!!!!
This is the type of chaos I LIVE FOR!
I know little to nothing of Alex Luther other than the fact that he is a xenophobe…. And that he got cancer from being a xenophobe. (Ha! that’s how it should be for racists and such(jk cancer is actually really bad and not a joke))
He would just be MAD that these social idiots would have been able to go all of this with NO FUNDING!
Like seriously where did they get the money to do this crap????
Also Vlad crying in the corner is so funny to me, the grown ass man being a pouty bitch cuz he can’t have a woman he simpped for for 20 plus years!
Wish I could add more but I can’t possibly think of what else to add other than this.

Heeeey, Darth!! Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 💚
Hi Summers! What a great idea! I love this!
Here are the five favorite fics I've written, in no particular order (but maybe a bit of an order):
A Secret Uncovered Summary: When Danny's transformation is caught on tape, Danny has a whole new battle to face, including a press conference, Valerie, and, of course, school. But who is the mysterious ghost who set him up? And how much can he possibly mess up his life? Reason: This has always been my favorite of the pieces I've written. I poured so much love and work into this piece over (many) years. I'm so proud of it. I set out to tell a story of what it would be like if everyone knows (before Everybody Knows AUs became a thing and even before Reality Trip haha) and used it as a vehicle to show so many different reactions. I've had so much fun working on this. (And there may be a cross-post to AO3 very soon!)
Tortured Truth Summary: Danny's parents discover that the ghost boy is half human. Now that they've captured Danny, will he submit to torture and reveal himself, or is the revelation just the beginning of their problems? Reason: I'm starting with my old ones here! This is actually the first fic I ever shared with anyone, and it's also the first fic I've ever finished. While the torture is tame compared to today's standards, I feel like it has a great emotional payout and I enjoyed taking a micro-examination of the family unit's reactions and using Danny's illness as a way to force everyone to confront his powers.
The Red Vengeance Project Summary: With cameras strapped to their foreheads, Paulina and Star venture into the woods to bait the ghostly urban legend to appear in the hopes that Phantom will come save them. It seemed like a good plan in the light of day, but they get more than they ask for in the dark, claustrophobic, and dangerous woods. Reason: This was one of the first DP fics I'd written in a long time. It'd taken a break and just come back to the phandom to write this and another fic for Ectoberhaunt and I loved it. It brought me back to why I loved writing for this phandom in the first place. I picked this one over my actual first fic since coming back because I enjoyed writing this one more. I loved playing around with the different POV and I felt like it resulted in a really cool effect.
Micro-Unmasking Summary: Great timing prevented Danny’s secret from being revealed to Dash during their shared experience with the Fenton Crammer. But what would happen if his timing had been just a little off and Dash saw more than Danny wanted? Reason: This one's had a special place in my heart for awhile. I started it in 2009 and finally finished it in 2022! It was also just a fun topic that I enjoyed reading. I felt like I got to be a little witty in this one and I just really enjoyed writing it.
Prove That You Deserve the Answer Summary: After an argument with Jazz leaves Maddie feeling insecure about her role as a mother, she wishes she could understand her children better. She soon learns the dangers of making wishes around ghosts when she switches places with Jazz. But when this body swap allows her the opportunity to really talk with Danny, she realizes that maybe she can use this to finally see what's really going on with her son, and maybe find some way to fix their relationship in the process. Reason: I am so proud of this one. I sought out to finish a longer fic and I actually did it! I really pushed myself on this one, and I feel like it really paid off. I feel like the internal thoughts and monologues were so fun to explore and I loved writing from Maddie's POV.
And there are my five! This was a fun dive into my past works and really took some thought as to why they became some of my favorites.
Because this is a great idea, I'm gonna do some tagging! Maybe we can come up with a great list of reading recommendations from it by the end! I'm going to tag: @summerssixecho (you're not escaping your own idea lol), @underforeversgrace, @murphy-kitt, @nickelodeonstudios, and @lexosaurus

What is the most effective Fenton weapon?
I’d say the Fenton Crammer.
Tumblr media
Not only does it work on ghosts, I found out it works on humans too.
Imagine the amount of problems that come with being smaller than a mouse.

You know what DP x DC shenanigans we haven't explored yet?
The Fenton Crammer.
Aka the device that can shrink both humans and ghosts (and inanimate objects).
Like imagine the possibilities.
It could be a repeat of the Micro-Management episode where Phantom is shrunk along with [Hero Name] and has to try and get unshrunk before his identity is revealed.
Which it is known that Phantom's powers get weaker the longer he's shrunk... ... so would that mean if a hero with powers was shrunk ... ... they too would start losing their abilities the longer they're tiny?
What if Phantom was shrunk with the civilian id of the hero?
What if the Fenton parents accidentally (or more likely on purpose) shrink a hero or multiple heroes? (The Justice League, The BatFam, the Flash Family, the SuperFamily, Teen Titains, Young Justice, the possibilities are endless) and Danny has to find a way to get everyone back to normal.
Which would he be trying to get them back to normal as a Fenton or as Phantom? Is he trying to prevent the hero(es) from realizing his other identity in the process?
Depending on how the Drs Fentons shrink the hero(es) is he also trying to prevent them from discovering just who shrunk them? Or his relation to them?
Just think on it. Fenton Crammer. Spector (and Hero) Shrinker.

Okay, on the Vlad finds Danny shrunk by the Crammer thing, imagine Vlad picks up tiny Danny and secures him in his work bag.
Doesn't entirely match the prompt, but I hope you like it anyway!
.
.
It was rare, but sometimes Jack invented something that was pure genius. On those infrequent occasions, Vlad made sure to make note of, copy, and, of course, improve said inventions. Mainly by giving them a reasonable name.
Fenton Crammer? Really? That was what Jack called his shrink ray? It sounded like something a student might do before a test.
Plasmius Minimus was so much better.
Vlad drifted behind the tour group, smiling blandly whenever Daniel shot him a look from his place at the back of the pack. Daniel, bless him, had been convinced from the beginning that Vlad's generous offer of a tour of Vladco for the students of Casper High was a trap.
He was right.
The paranoia was still amusing to watch. Daniel was so intent on keeping an eye on Vlad that he'd tripped five times and run into cubicle walls twice in the hour since arriving-- No, make that three cubicle walls.
Goodness, if Daniel kept this up, he was going to do Vlad's job for him.
Vlad shifted his gaze to Daniel's two friends, and suppressed a chuckle when Daniel bristled at him. It was, almost, cute. Like a feral kitten hissing at a large dog.
They were the greatest obstacle to Vlad's plan. But Vlad had a simple, easy method of getting them out of the way. Social conventions.
"Alright, everyone," said the tour guide. "We're not allowed to have too many visitors in the labs, so this is where we split up. When you hear your name, go to your group."
Easy, thought Vlad again, watching as Daniel's group was led away to the labs and his worried friends followed the other group to the auditorium. Vlad followed neither, but instead stayed on the office floor for a while before going in a completely different direction before ducking out of sight just long enough to duplicate.
The duplicate stayed on that floor, striking up a conversation with a secretary in full view. He himself transformed and phased through the floor, going down to the lab.
He probably wouldn't need an alibi, but it payed to be prepared.
The students stopped by the dressing rooms first, and the tour guide showed them how to put on the guest versions of the protective coveralls, masks, and goggles. A bit excessive for this lab and what they were doing in it today, but Vlad had insisted, for the protection of the students.
And for a little more obfuscation for the sake of his plan.
He waited until the students were jostling each other at the door, and then he struck, raising the small pistol and firing a single, quiet shot at Daniel.
There was a whisper of a gasp, and Daniel seemed to vanish. Vlad knew better. He caught the miniature ghost as he tried to phase through the floor, and pulled him out.
Daniel cursed at him, his voice tiny.
"And what were you going to do, if your powers went out while you were down there? Think, Daniel."
He phased a small glass jar, one that he had placed earlier, out of a wall, and dropped Daniel in before screwing on the lid. Daniel, predictably, banged on the glass.
"Come, now," said Vlad, amused. "You could at least appreciate the effort I went through to get this jar ghost proofed. There are even holes in the lid."
What followed was, of course, more cursing.

Ghosts really do have a lot more to fear from the Fenton Crammer than humans do. Actually, almost any other ghost would have been far worse off in the situation than Skulker was.
Human bodies are internally stable, made of several systems all tailor-made to perform specific functions. More importantly, though, everything in the body works by physical and chemical means. There’s no need for telepathy for a human to stay alive.
Ghosts, though? They manipulate their bodies remotely, rely on signals and ectoplasm transferred between the anchor and core to function. The problem is that the Crammer affects part of the system - the ectoplasmic shell and the anchor - but doesn’t affect the core.
With the anchor’s diminutive size, it becomes a bottleneck for all the core’s energy. And the core isn’t made to control energy on such a small scale. It takes a lot more effort to do everything through that tiny passageway, and weakens the ghost even relative to its size.
Skulker, who never relies on his core’s abilities to begin with? It does almost nothing to him. His shell is already weak, he already has tools to deal with that. And the tools shrink with him too, and function just as well in this form. Relative to their size.
