The Secret Life of Walter Mitty / Virginia Mayo as Rosalind van Hoorn

I've said this before, but I'm always fascinated by fashion from those few years in the 1940s between the end of the war and the arrival of the New Look. This outfit in particular (by Irene Sharaff) has a lot of continuity with clothing of the late 1930s, particularly in the flowerpot-shaped hat.

I really like the effect of the black gloves and black netting on the hat. Her belt of metal links is interesting too. I am not quite sure what is hanging from it, and whether it is a practical item or just an ornament.

Moontide (1942)

A simple story told in a way that really feels like you are in some kind of a dream. The movie does effortlessly what The Trial \ Le procès (1962) tries so hard and bluntly to do (it succeeds to). Giving you the unease of a nightmare and blissfulness of a happy dream. It’s interesting how going from scene to scene something seemingly random happens while keeping you feeling that it’s actually must be connected and highly significant.
