February 12, Scriptures of the Day First Dominion of the Messiah:
Micah 4:1-4 and 5-8 - But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the Mountain of the House of The LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains (at Jerusalem), and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more; But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts hath spoken it.
In that day, saith the LORD, will I assemble her that halteth, and I will gather her that is driven out, and her that I have afflicted; And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the LORD shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever.
And thou, O tower of the flock, the strong hold of the daughter of Zion (Jesus/Yhswh the Messiah), unto thee shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem.
Micah 4:4 - For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever.
Psalm 102:25-27 - Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands. They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed: But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end. The children of thy servants shall continue, and their seed shall be established before thee.
Hebrews 1:10-12 - And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands: They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment; And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.
The Revelation 20:1-10 - And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
Rev 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
[With all other nations walking in the name of their gods for hundreds of years, the Messiah's First Dominion began looking like an old worn garment!, so He let Satan out of prison around 840 AD (giving Him 770 years to rule the nations), judging by the time documentaries say civilizations worldwide disappeared without a trace, knowing he'd traverse the earth enlisting an army of dissenters as sand of the sea in multitude, and come up against the 'camp of the saints' during their last Feast of Tabernacles for that Kingdom Age. His army was devoured by fire from heaven, Messiah's kingdom was simultaneously folded up and changed to an unseen realm; Satan was cast into the Lake of Fire, leaving millions of demon spirits to take his place; and the only people to repopulate Earth were stragglers who missed their ride to the yearly feast, and their yearly treks to Jerusalem turned into wars over which ethnicity was to claim that city.]

Miraak: Hey, you like true crime, right?
Last Dragonborn: Yeah, I do, why?
Miraak: I found something for us to watch!
Miraak: *turns on the news*
Reporter: Breaking news, a Dragon Priest has blown up the Thalmor Embassy, more at nine—
Last Dragonborn: What did you do?!
Miraak: Surprise! I became a criminal!
Last Dragonborn: I’m charmed, yet terrified!

“‘Have dominion . . . over every living thing.’ How though, you may ask, since I have a beast within? Actually, there are a myriad, a countless number of beasts within you. You should not take offense in these words. Rage is a small beast, yet when it growls in the heart is any dog more savage? Is not the treacherous soul like fresh bait staked in front of a bear’s den? Is not the hypocrite a beast? [Rule] then over the beasts inside you. Rule your thoughts so that you will become a ruler over all things. So the same one who provides the power to rule over all living things provides power for us to rule over ourselves.”
— St. Gregory of Nyssa

Thinking about the Ian/Ellie/Ian reunion through a romantic lens. Spending decades trying to convince themselves that they didn’t miss each other and then they meet up and it’s like?? Alan and Ellie are already gazing at each other like long-lost lovers. When they walk into Ian’s lecture, he pauses and looks like his world has just shifted on its axis. Ellie and Ian always had something going on between them but now Alan’s realizing that his own feelings for Ian are maybe less platonic than he thought. And then later they’re all bickering lovingly like they’ve been married for years. I’m unwell

Scripture for the Day: Re: The Man Child The Revelation 12:1-6, Isaiah 66:5-7, The Revelation 14:1-5 & Zechariah 14:1-5
The Revelation 12:1-6 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. And she brought forth a MAN CHILD, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron (a hand gun? See photo): and her child was caught up unto God, and to His throne. And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days (3 ½ years; others had already fled there when the abomination that made desolate stood in the temple causing death of 20,000 worshippers [Antiquities of the Jews Book 20.5.3]).
Isaiah 66:5-7 Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at His word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for My name's sake, said, "Let the LORD be glorified": but HE SHALL APPEAR to your joy, and they shall be ashamed. (The rulers of all synagogues in Israel and Asia cast out the Christians beginning shortly after the Day of Pentecost, but Jesus had told them they would be His witnesses to the uttermost parts of the earth - Acts chapter one). A voice of noise from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of the LORD that rendereth recompence to his enemies - Rejoice with Jerusalem! BEFORE SHE TRAVAILED, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a MAN CHILD!
The Revelation 14:1-5 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with Him an hundred forty and four thousand, having His Father's name written in their foreheads. And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were REDEEMED FROM THE EARTH. These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever He goeth. These were REDEEMED FROM AMONG MEN, being THE FIRSTFRUITS unto God and to the Lamb. And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God. [Zechariah chapter 14 is proof that this took place at the time of the 70 AD siege of Jerusalem; for “all nations” were gathered against Jerusalem ‘in that day’.]
Zechariah 14:1-5 Behold, the DAY OF THE LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. And his feet shall stand IN THAT DAY upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south….. and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with Thee. [In Zechariah 12:3 we see all people of Earth were there, gathered against Jerusalem. Remember Vespasian had killed off all who were not useful to his agenda – Isaiah 10:14; and it was then that every knee bowed to the Messiah and every tongue confessed that Jesus Christ is Lord; thus fulfilling Isaiah 45:23 and Romans 14:11.]

Last Dragonborn, to a torch bug, as their follower, a dragon, two giants, three mammoths, a bunch of bandits, cultists of Boethiah and Miraak, a spriggan, hold guards, a Thalmor patrol, and a random fox fight to the death in the background: To you, I can admit that I'm just too soft for all of it.

jurassic park is trending (omg no fuckibg way????) and it got me thinkin about my undying love for the franchise, as well as my general love for those 90s universal movies. the ride at hollywood, the merch, and it’s general affect on pop culture.
and I have to say.
The franchise lost the moment it realized it could be a big movie monster franchise.
Tumblr media
with a couple of exceptions, there was so much reverence in the way jurassic 1 handled the behavior and the nature of the dinosaurs, treating them as amoral creatures locked in turmoil as the park falls apart, and we are simply caught in the midst of the chaos.
Tumblr media
jp2 doesn’t do too much disservice to the way the dinosaurs are treated, still being forces of nature. sure they don’t do much new or give a different perspective on the nature of theropods instead of instantly antagonizing them, but the hatchling plot was cool. also, we got that iconic scene at the end. you know the one.
Tumblr media
it starts to get muddled with jp 3, with the entire climax hinging on the big battle between mama rex and the spinosaurus, with added elements of humor that serves to further demystify the dinosaurs, entering campier territory.
then came Jurassic world.
Tumblr media
while Jurassic World no doubt reinvigorated interest, it was the nail in the coffin for the opportunity for Jurassic Park truly to come back the way it did. it was almost wwa, the way that dinosaurs were simply setup to showdown at the very end, teaching the audience since the third one that this was what you are to look forward to, along with your classic escape the dinosaurs plot. it truly sealed its fate as a blockbuster, answering genuinely interesting questions (ethics of cloning, whether they really are dinosaurs or simply monsters, etc.) and addressing interesting concepts (indominous, Feathered DINOSAURS DOMINION!!!!!!!) with such a juvenile attitude, merely meant to appeal to a “general majority” who (they assume [wrongly]) that simply want to see dinosaurs on the big screen. if you cater to a supposed audience, all you will be looking at is simply confirmation bias. Movies like Barbie prove that people are still interested in political, social and cultural rhetoric and systems being addressed and talked about in franchised media, and yet…
jurassic park can’t seem to take itself seriously anymore. they don’t even animate the dinosaurs very convincingly anymore.
but hey. atleast the new ride at universal Hollywood is good. little bit of pacing issues but, hey. better than the sorry state it was before

@bunniesandbeheadings I might misunderstand the text you linked. How could Mary call Edward a bastard? KoA was dead by then, and of course widowers can remarry. Calling Jane a legitimate Queen in no way would take away KoA’s status as Queen?
all of hviii's marriages after catherine of aragon were not recognised by the catholic church/pope. when he needed dispensations for these marriages, like for affinity (his marriage to jane was one of them), they were granted by the anglican church, whose authority the pope and other catholic monarchies of christendom did not recognise (the last real 'papal' henrician appointment, irony of ironies, was thomas cranmer's). there was also the matter of all marriages taking place when the realm was in schism, thus "all other women of henry concubines and not wives". prince edward was (legitimate) heir as reified by parliament; both retroactively from the succession act of 1536 and in name by the one of 1543.
foreign dignitaries of course, when they visited, would honour whoever henry's wife was as queen to maintain good relations and as matter of diplomacy (this wasn't, of course, done by the imperial until the last weeks of AB's time as queen, but otherwise, she was, even if 'frostily' by the french as in 1534). but they were often under instruction to treat this status as transient, as lauren mackay has summarized in her biography of chapuys, for example, charles v was rather mercenary in his attitude towards jane seymour, continually referring to her as henry's 'mistress' well into their marriage in his own instructions to chapuys:
"It appears Charles [V] was at times rather ruthless in regards to Jane, despite the fact that her being in power benefitted Mary. Charles referred to her in several dispatches as Henry's mistress rather than queen [...]" Inside the Tudor Court, Lauren Mackay
#bunniesandbeheadings#replies#there's like the question of why mary did not attempt to overthrow edward while he was king if she didn't believe his reign was legitimate#which is an interesting one...#but 1) her biographers really discount how much of a dissembler she was#2) loades theorized that she actually did buy into the henrician supremacy and her own illegitimacy and simply had a turnaround once#edward died believing that was god's sign she was the rightful heir thus legitimate...which i find an oversimplistic explanation. to say#the least...#i think psychologically in the last years of the edwardian regime she had something of a redeux of the AB years?#this belief england was going to fall into perdition due to 'evil councilors' but she couldn't do anything to reverse it#which is why there's an escape attempt not just an escape plan as in the former but she also decides against this in the last hour#so yes. what was her plan? or hope? it might've been that edward vi would be excommunicated as he reached his majority#and that charles v took up the call to invade and england became one of his dominions#and she would be set up as regent as he set up his other female relatives as regent in his absence#idk if i'd say jane being in power benefitted mary. all the 'benefits' she received came from her swearing to oaths she'd been pressurized#to swear to for the past two years...?#anyway this was illuminating and instructive. to me. it best explains imo why she took such a defiant attitude towards edward. she wouldn't#have seen it as defiant if she didn't believe in his authority in the first place
