little update <3

hello people! i know, it’s been a long time since i posted anything. i’ve always been here tho! just reading one shots and fanfics and liking lots of pics and gifs that i have to tag and organize, it’s gonna take me a while lmao.

i do have some plans on what to do here now. i’m experimenting with my writing and such, i found out i feel more comfortable writing here than on wattpad for some reason (which is the place i started off on). my only real problem is that i procrastinate a lot and get bored fast of what i’m doing 😩 hopefully this won’t happen, but i’ll just take my time anyway.

i’d also like to say that i still love gmw, i’ll never stop enjoying it and there’s no way i’d ever get rid of all those papers with the analyses i put together in 2020, took me too much time for me to do so 💀

i just got back into one direction, which has always been a band i really loved even though i never properly got into and engaged with the fandom before last year (ngl you guys scare me sometimes). but as directioners say “it’s never a phase, it’s a lifestyle”, yep, that’s me. they never really left, their music was always there for me whenever i needed it.

i also recently got into 5sos more, trying to get into the fandom so hi! nice to meet you all, i first learned about the boys in 2017 through a cover of “she looks so perfect”. since then i haven’t really listened to their music much but like i said, i’m currently getting into it more and more. my favorite songs at the moment are disconnected, older, youngblood, ghost of you and lover of mine :) OH and i also got into miss taylor swift!! we stan a queen. i’m slowly listening to all her discography and damn, she’s written so many songs (all very lovely tho).

in the meantime i’ve read a ridiculous amount of books and mangas. i’m not sure wether i want to make reviews and such since i genuinely don’t think i’m that good at it, but we’ll see.

so this is it for now! hopefully you’ll be able to see me a bit more and i’ll be more than happy if you stick around <3

this is my favorite type of first kiss. pulling someone in for a rushed, brief kiss then pulling away to gauge their response. the moment of silence where they're just staring at each other wondering if that really happened because they did it and can't take it back. then other other person pulling them back in and kissing them with every ounce of passion they have. then the prolonged eye contact once they've parted because yes, it's real. yes, they like you and you like them back. it's poetic. it's beautiful.

With Samantha LaRusso, I think the biggest thing I see with criticisms of her is that a lot of the criticism has shades of "hypocrisy is worse than murder", e.g. they have no problems with characters doing something so long as that character doesn't have a code against it.

You know how people don't bat an eye when the Punisher murders criminals but have a problem when Batman does it? Same principle. That's why these fans have no problem with Tory starting fights / antagonizing Sam (because Tory doesn't have a code against it) but have a problem with Sam giving Tory a taste of her own medicine (because that sort of aggression goes against Miyagi-Do's code). That's why they have no problem with Hawk startinh a fight at the mall with Demetri over a Yelp review, but they have a problem with Miyagi-Do starting the arcade fight. Among other examples. 🤔

Yeah that's a good point. The existence of a Code definitely makes the violations more egregious...though in defense of the first one, the reason people get pissy when Batman kills people is that it's been shown in comics before that the Code exists for a reason—Bruce knows if he kills one person, he won't be able to stop himself, hence the restraint of a Code.

I haven't watched Daredevil in full, so idk if Frank has that restraint, but Bruce is able to recognize that he doesn't—and he's proven to be right on multiple occasions. So when Snyder Batman (to name one example) kills people and shrugs it off, it feels...weird.

Regarding Tory and Sam, I think it's definitely because of what you mentioned...but more to the point, I think people also just gravitate to "mean" girls more than "nice" ones. And it's easier to see the flaws of nice girls, whereas for mean girls, you can just say "well, what did you expect? She's not a nice girl!"

That doesn't make it right ofc—both girls should be held to the same standard—but Sam holding herself to a strict morality while Tory doesn't so much is definitely a major factor of why she's more liked/forgiven for things than Sam is. People just don't vibe with Sam the way they vibe with Tory...and as someone who vibes a lot with Sam, I think that's a shame.

(It's a similar principle as to why Maya Hart is largely preferred over Riley Matthews, but I don't care enough about GMW to get into that whole mess 😂)

Global Mangrove Watch.

The Global Mangrove Watch (GMW) was initiated as part of the JAXA Kyoto & Carbon Initiative in 2011. It is led by Aberystwyth University and solo Earth Observation, in collaboration with Wetlands International, the International Water Management Institute and the United Nations Environment World Conservation Monitoring Centre (U.K.). The African part is supported by DOB Ecology through the Mangrove Capital Africa project. The GMW aims to provide geospatial information about mangrove extent and changes to the Ramsar Convention, national wetland practitioners, decision makers and NGOs. It is part of the Ramsar Science and Technical Review Panel (STRP) work plan for 2016-2018 and a Pilot Project to the Ramsar Global Wetlands Observation System (GWOS), which is implemented under the GEO-Wetlands Initiative. The primary objective of the GMW has been to provide countries lacking a national mangrove monitoring system with first cut mangrove extent and change maps, to help safeguard against further mangrove forest loss and degradation.The GMW has generated a global baseline map of mangroves for 2010 using ALOS PALSAR and Landsat (optical) data, and changes from this baseline for epochs between 1996 and 2020 derived from JERS-1 SAR, ALOS PALSAR and ALOS-2 PALSAR-2. Annual maps are planned from 2018 and onwards.

Boy Meets World (‘How to Succeed in Business’ - 5x09) - Cory/Shawn

When I first got into ‘Boy Meets World’ this was one of the few episodes that I missed (I forgot a lot of it when I watched it for the first time) but it’s now one of my favourite episodes of the series and its because its the first time that we get to see Shawn Hunter succeed.

Cory and Shawn get an internship at the same agency and Shawn does really well; Cory however, does not and gets himself fired. Of course, being quite self-centered, Cory thinks there’s something wrong with the universe as it’s always been the other way round ‘Shawn messes up; he cleans up after him’ and just then, Shawn says he’s got his job back - but as a janitor, which is an even lower position than what he had before.

The real climax to this issue, is when Cory finds out that Shawn was given a fax, cell phone and a credit card for working at the agency and he starts to feel bad about it which leads to Shawn going to him and saying

‘I can’t enjoy this because of what it’s doing to you’

‘Because it’s killing me. All my life your’e the one who messes up. I’m the one who cleans up after you, that’s the way it’s always been.’

‘I know. For the first time I’m doing something on my own and it feels good - it feels really good’

This softens Cory’s whole deminor when he realises what he’s just said.

‘Well I mean it’s supposed to feel good. You did great. I guess for the first time, I’m just jealous of you.’

(Right then Topanga tries to interrupt the moment with a statement that the audience already knows - that he’s putting too much pressure on himself but Cory’s focus is still on Shawn)

‘I’m sorry I underestimated you. I’m real proud of you’

‘Yeah well, I’m proud of you too.’

The narrative reminded me of the ‘Girl Meets World’ 4 or 5 episode plotline in Season 3 (When Maya was turning into Riley ) Because Maya was happier, getting good grades, “liking a boy her age” Riley made it all about her and said ‘You became me’ and didn’t listen/talked over her when Maya tried to call her out on her behaviour.

In that whole conversation - Shawn cared about Cory’s feelings, Cory spouted his insecurities, Shawn set him right, Cory listened to him, checked his behaviour and said what was really bothering him; while Shawn was empathetic. Then he apologised and said he was proud of him in which Shawn responded the same. And that right there. That 1 and a half conversation that the two of them just had, had way more character development/healthly communication than Riley and Maya had in 3 seasons.

HSMTMTS 2x08 Review

Most Likely To was the best ep of S2 so far and ended one ship while launching another. Let’s dig in!

Gaston was super fun, a very nice showcase for both Larry and Matt. This is the kind of energy that early S2 was lacking. Also feels like the first ep where East High might actually have a shot at beating North High. Covid restrictions played a role but we really needed to see more rehearsal scenes and scenes of the wildcats just being theatre kids. This also may be one of the last times we see EJ perform as a student in the musical so I’m glad we got this.

EJ has been criminally underused for most of S2, he’s marketed as part of the big 4 along with Nini, Ricky, and Gina and Matt Cornett’s name is listed 3rd in the credits but in the early eps of S2 you’d think he was guest star. Lately he’s started to become more important and tonight was an excellent showcase of why he’s such an interesting character. I’m not gonna check but this feels like it’s the most EJ screen time in a single ep that we’ve gotten all season long.

Of course, the main reason for EJ’s increased screen time is because of Portwell. I’ve been neutral on them but tonight they really won me over’ their scenes were so sweet that they warmed even my cold black heart. Matt and Sofia are good friends irl and that shines through in their easy rapport and great chemistry. Gina snorting at EJ’s joke was cute and I loved the shot of Gina accidentally walking into the shot for EJ’s confessional. As an aside, they’ve been doing some fun stuff with the confessionals lately which helps add a bit of the metaness that helped make S1 so great.

The real big Portwell scene tonight was EJ and Gina talking on the couch at Ashlyn’s. Lot’s to love there. Gina’s speech to EJ about what she sees when she thinks of him was sweet and her saying that EJ tried to do the right thing and often failed but kept trying echoes what she said of herself during her confession to Ricky. Also when EJ asked Gina if she understood the feeling of having her life mapped out she replied, ‘’not really’’ which is almost certainly the inspiration for Gina asking a question to EJ and him responding ‘’not really’’ in their pre S2 face time call on the hsmtmts instagram.

EJ is still wracked with guilt for the guy he used to be but Gina reminds him that he’s grown and is a good guy which leads to her slip up about her seeing him that way vs the rest of the gang hinting that she’s beginning to catch feelings for EJ. Which leads to EJ complimenting her and them having a moment that could well have led to a kiss if Ashlyn hadn’t come home. And they cap it off with Gina falling asleep and EJ covering her with his Duke sweater.

It’s been nice not seeing Gina upset over Ricky these past two eps and it’s a damning indictment of the poor writing and pacing of S2 that her story in the first 6 eps can be summed up as Gina being upset over something Ricky said or did. Not only has Portwell allowed EJ to rise in prominence but also it’s allowed Gina to escape the rut her character was stuck in pining for Ricky.

I hope after S2 is over that we get an interview where Tim explains how the Portwell plot came to be. The S1 finale set up some possible interest between them as did the pre S2 face time call but nothing came of it during the first 4 eps, they stood next to each other a lot but barely interacted otherwise. Notably in 2x01, which Tim himself wrote, EJ tries to grow a beard and tells Ashlyn that he says her as so young which is extremely jarring now that we know that EJ is crushing on Gina who is Ashlyn’s age.

Was Tim not set on doing Portwell until he realized he needed to give Gina something else to do other than hopelessly pine for Ricky? Narratively, it made sense after Rini got together in S1 to put the other two Big 4 characters together in S2 but did Tim not want it to seem so obvious to the audience so he deliberately kept Portwell apart until 2x05 where EJ’s feelings make for a nice plot twist? Was he just reluctant to plug EJ back into the love square due to how much more complicated it would make things but later felt he had no other options? Or was it just plain old bad pacing and writing?

Of course, I wish that there wasn’t such a large age gap between Sofia and Matt but there are no Gina ships that avoid that problem, there’s also an age gap between Sofia and Joshua, just as there was between Olivia and Joshua and Matt in S1. Depending on when they film S3 there’s a good chance that most of it will be finished before Sofia even turns 18 which is deeply unfortunate. There’s a broader issue of teen girls being cast in mostly age appropriate roles while their male love interests are older adults and in particular it often affects female characters of colour. Netflix has a really bad track record with those kind of age gaps but Disney has problems too as we’ve seen on HSMTMTS and on GMW where by the end of S3 they had 18 year old Peyton Meyer as the boyfriend of 14 year old Rowan Blanchard’s character (not to mention canon Joshaya which didn’t have such a bad age gap between the actors but was problematic regarding the ages of the characters themselves).

A knock I’ve seen on Portwell is that EJ is just gonna leave for university next year but that was never gonna happen, Matt’s under the same 4 season contract as all the other mains and he’ll be sticking around in some capacity much like Sharpay ended up doing in the movies. It is true that EJ will probably have to move on at the end of S4 while Gina still has her senior year left but that will also happen with her and Ricky since he’ll be graduating at the end of S4. It was a big mistake to make EJ a senior but it also may end up being a big mistake to make Gina a sophomore. It would have been too messy to retcon EJ to be a junior but Tim probably should have taken the chance to retcon Gina into being a junior in S2.

That Rini breakup was so sad (missed opportunity for gotta go my own way). They managed to get in a Troyella reference with the treehouse. This was inevitable they just have not been communicating well though now that we know that Ricky thought Nini left YAC for him some of his desperation to spend as much time together as possible makes more sense. I think Rini is endgame if the series has 4 seasons but it wouldn't shock me if we never seem them dating again and they only get back together in the series finale. It also wouldn’t surprise me if Nini never dates anyone else for the remainder of the series or at least not seriously.

We’re not even halfway through the series so it’s way too early to permanently slam the door on Rini though this time apart will probably help Joshua and Olivia move on from their own bitter break up before it bleeds too much into their performances. I do wonder if Tim really has a clue what he's gonna do with them for the remaining 24-28 eps of the series, assuming S3 and S4 have 10-12 eps each.

Roman Banks killed If I Can’t Love Her and the montage of all the couples or ex couples was great.

It was nice to finally meets some parents other than the Bowen’s and Salazar-Roberts’. Kourtney’s mom was played by Dara’s actual mother and their dynamic was great as expected. It seems from their conversation that Kourtney's father is dead which I don’t believe has been mentioned before. Cash Caswell.... well it gets what the character is about across. He really looks and sounds like a rich Utah republican, I bet he knows Mitt Romney personally. I liked EJ going to tell his father that he’s not going to Duke and recognizing that he wants to build his own life on his own merits.

We saw a bit of that S1 Miss Jenn energy tonight which was fun though I didn't like how curt she was with Seb nor did I like how rude Carlos was to Seb although we know that blows up in 2x10.

Jazzara rising! I really liked how Jazzara and Portwell are sort of mirroring each other and since Mazzara knows about EJ’s feelings for Gina it wouldn’t shock me if helping EJ out is part of him showing a softer side in 2x12.

Of course Ashlyn is VP of the Nostradamus society. It's clear her family has some kooky new age beliefs (her parents are probably members of some naturopathic medicine group on Facebook that doubles as a gateway into Qanon)

It was nice to see Big Red being such a good friend to Ricky and the return of Ricky’s infamous pillow hugs. Lmao at Ashlyn just chilling while Big Red is comforting Ricky

Also Miss Jenn saying sexy and Big Red referring to pillow talk, the writers are adding a bit of spice when cooking up these scripts.

Looking Ahead:

Looks like Gina may be wearing EJ's duke sweater next ep according to some posts I saw. Jack presumably is there to somehow help Gina decide what she wants with Ricky and EJ though him having wanderlust might also feed into Gina’s thoughts on settling down in SLC or moving with her mom around the country.

Let's see what mom of the year, Lynne Bowen, has up her sleeves. Ricky’s bedroom at her place in Chicago looks much nicer than the apartment Mike Bowen has so perhaps she makes a lot more money than he does.

Not looking forward to the Zoom portions of the ep but I guess it was inevitable.

There’s only two paths for Gina’s story to go in the remainder of this season; either she decides to move on from Ricky and give EJ a chance or she decides that Ricky is worth trying again and squelches her budding feelings for EJ. The former looks much more likely after tonight’s ep but either way it needs to be handled with care. Inevitably Gina and Ricky need to talk about what happened between them but if Tim really wants Ricky to continue being a viable love interest or even a good friend to Gina then he needs to really have Ricky apologize and show a thoughtful, kinder side of him that’s largely been missing this season.

What I think Tim is doing is setting up Portwell getting together in 2x12 but Ricky pining over Gina until Portwell break up late S3 and Rina get together in the S3 finale before they break up later in S4 and Ricky gets back with Nini near the end of the series. If I had Tim’s ear I would tell him that he should pick which ship he wants to do, Rina or Portwell, but don’t do both. He wants canon Rina? Great then end Portwell before it starts and have Rina happen in S3 and introduce other obstacles to them getting together rather than having to damage EJ’s character and make him lose another girl he likes to Ricky. He wants canon Portwell? Great then have Gina and Ricky’s conversation be closure for the both of them and have Gina and EJ get together and break them up without Ricky being a cause of it or waiting in the wings to get with Gina soon afterwards. Doing both will be a disaster and I truly hope that Tim Federle carefully thinks over his mistakes in S2 and really plans out the remaining 2 seasons of the series while there’s still time to prevent things from going really off the rails like GMW and AM did thanks to the bad decisions of Michael Jacobs and Terri Minsky.

an episode review

I watched A Christmas Maya (that’s the episode title right?) and I have so many feelings. Honestly, it reminded me what I loved about the show.

-There were lines that literally made me burst out laughing, e.g. after Maya is like “of course you carry glitter around in your pocket” and Riley responded “it used to be butterflies...” and then buries her head in her hands, plus Cory’s face when she said that was too funny

-Sabrina is so talented. Can I just say that? Like she moves so seamlessly between comedy and drama. In one line she can make me go from teary eyed to laughing.

-the story Maya tells us about her Christmas pasts with her mum was both hilarious and awful. A tragicomedy. With that said, my heart ached for her ESPECIALLY because my babygirl is so afraid that she is the problem. Like she didn’t want to go home because she was sure she would ruin her new fragile happiness and ugh Maya Hart when will you stop breaking my heart?? (on that note, Maya is such a devastating character in season 3, now that I’ve actually watched I Do and this episode there is literally no denying that the identity crisis fucked her up big time)

-The gift giving scene was brilliant. I love how absolutely terrible everybody’s gifts seemed on the surface level but all the meanings behind them were just *tries not to cry* beautiful

-on that note, it is a literal CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY that we didn’t see Maya’s gift for Lucas, like wbk the writers hate lucaya but damn! the writers really hate that ship don’t they?

-ZAY BABINEAUX (that’s it, that’s the tweet)

-But on a more serious note, Zay is an icon and a legend and I loved the gift he got for Smackle and I equally loved how Farkle basically straight up said to him here’s this game that takes 17 years to play, that’s how long we wanna be in your life for

-Also, I think I understood the Riarkle shippers for the first time. Like I’ve never been against y’all but I always thought they had a platonic energy (even though I think they are definitely one of the best written, layered dynamics on the show) but that gulp after she pours her heart out to him did things to my shipper heart

-I saw someone once say Riley is at her best in this episode and YES Riley is at her BEST in this episode. That selfless love, that patience, that ready willingness to accept her friends in whatever form, to give up her happiness for them. That’s Riley at her best. And I’d like to believe that if we got the full story (bc we know s3 was not meant to be the end) we would have seen a lot more of this Riley

-that line to Farkle about not trying to change him and wanting to know him “whoever you are” made me scream at my laptop because why couldn’t you have that energy towards Maya at the start of the season babe?!

-My one qualm with the episode is that I wasn’t particularly fond of the Matthews (+Ava) acting out Maya and Katy’s (and Shawn’s) lives, it just felt a bit like mockery to me and made me cringe when Topanga was doing her impression of Katy working as a waitress

-Last but not least, Ava’s line “there are plot holes man!” was GMW meta at its finest

Adventure Time Reviewed - Season 1 Episode 6 to Episode 8

From The Jiggler to Business Time

S1E06 The Jiggler

This one is about the cautions of adopting cute little forest animals. I wonder why Finn and Jake are covered in so many bite marks? Why was that kingdom on fire? What was going on? How much trouble can one watermelon get into? Anyway this is the first episode to feature Finn’s autotune voice. I can’t remember the last episode he said something in autotune - there was the s6 finale, then a few scenes in season 7.

When they take the Jiggler back home, they Get Creative and escalate until they destroy their entire house interior. I think Princessss made an AMV Nightosphere gag about this. I love how chiptune noises play every time the Jiggler moves on day 1.

I always loved this episode. I thought it was very disturbing when the Jiggler gets sick, and then explodes. It reminds me of failed attempts to save birds or insects after my cats have gotten to them. I can relate so much to Finn and Jake here. Poor Jake having to keep himself together and look after his traumatized little bro. I love the OST of this ep. The soundtrack was uploaded to soundcloud once, along with Ricardio the Heart Guy. I love how artistic this ep is with the edible drawings and the painting of the jiggler’s mom. Very bright and colourful. I always found the momma jiggler’s cry to be... weirdly genuine.

S1E07 Ricardio the Heart Guy

This ep starts with Finn saving PB from Ice King, who humorously kisses Jake’s butt. PB gives Finn a kiss on the.... neck? hat? as thanks, and Finn’s crush truly begins. Oooooh boy. I always wondered in hindsight why Pb let the ice king roam free to begin with. That question is raised later in this season. Ice King kidnaps dozens of princesses daily and roams free, but Princess Cookie starts 1 hostage situation and is locked up forever. In the ep What Have You Done, it’s reasoned IK can only be punished for recent crimes, but... ehh, there are a few reasons. Pity? Old ties? Maybe she doesnt want to lock up a pathetic old man forever. There are some really funny statues of Finn and Jake in the castle, they look buff. I wonder who made these? PB commissioning them makes a lot of sense. Hey, it’s Peppermint Butler’s first speaking lines!!! “This style of massage is called Best Friend Massage. Because it can only be done for friends. It is completely consensual.” Well the first line from Ricardio the Rapist Stand-in is already incredibly sus. What’s even more sus is he’s apparently friends with LSP. I find it interesting that Ricardio is so intelligent. This must have been one of the motivators behind making Simon really smart. Ricardio is his heart, at the end of the day. Oh, Simon at the end of the show still has maracas in place of a heart. I wonder if that has health complications?

“I hear you appreciate ancient technology.” This is foreshadowing of MULTIPLE things now. One - Ice King being pre-war. Two - PB building everything out of pre-war technology. Three - The fact there was a war to begin with!!!!

Jake is trying to help Finn deal with his new emotions of jealousy (burning low war flashbacks) and he’s once again trying to make him happy, Jake never once considered the logistics of whether Finn and PB would ever actually go out, because it was far more important to him that Finn grow up and have the courage to listen to his heart. Jake encourages Finn’s crush to a fault, and provides lots of support to him when he’s heartbroken later on.

I love how PB and Ricardio were talking about dangerous micro-organisms and poor Finn has no idea how to approach the topic. I love how Zanoits are actualy dangerous and Ricardio uses them as a poison later. Anyway even PB can tell Finn is jealous. Finn is of the idea that she has no idea of his crush on her. Of course she knows. But from her side it’s exactly the same as Baby-snaps wanting to be a princess, or every other candy person doting on her - she thinks it’s adorable and completely fails to take the other person seriously. At least, until Braco comes along. Then you realise it’s a good thing she didn’t take Finn seriously, because she might have done something ridiculous like make him a robot clone of herself.

Anyway this ep provides a challenge to Finn or a test of his character, ironically through his own test of Ricardio’s character! Finn gets obsessed with proving Ricardio evil to the point that he gets easily baited into punching him, and doesn’t care that the Ice King is basically dying. Poor Ice King. At least Jake is here to approach the situation with a level head.

I was wondering as of late, with all the post-Obsidian sexuality discourse (in no way ignited by that one towel scene), whether PB was interested in Ricardio during this ep. It’s possible, and in the past, I thought “maybe”? But upon rewatch? No. She is only interested for as long as she can have scientific discussions with him, and as soon as his knowledge becomes lacking she has already used him for all hes worth. SAVAGE. But not as savage as him trying to rip out her heart. Ew, creep!!!

I should say that Ice King wanted to cast a spell that would force PB to fall in love with him. He’s NOT safe, he’s dangerous. He’s especially a danger to PB. He does kill her twice at the end of season 2, after all. Once again I don’t know why she hasn’t locked him up LOL. Anyway, even if he did cast a love spell, she wouldn’t change any of her decisisons. It’d just make her sad, like it did at the end of The Suitor. There was that one time PB tried to make a love potion but we don’t talk about that. Ice King does demonstrate some concern for Bubblegum’s welfare when he reveals Ricardio’s plan to literally murder her. Ricardio’s plan here is pretty slapstick violent, and it’s funny watching Finn beat him up, but when he returns in season 4, it’s far more... personal and insidious. As in, here he could be seen as a jokey stand-in for a predator creep, but in that later episode he 100% sexually threatens her and forces her into a non consensual relationship, making it very satisfying when PB beats the shit out of him instead.

Holy fuck I forgot about this joke. Golden.

S1E08 Business Time

For some reason, I don’t feel like there’s a lot to say about this ep. It doesn’t demonstrate any remarkable characteristics of Finn and Jake themselves. Instead, it seems to be more of an inside joke.

When they find the business men, Finn and Jake at first feel like the business men are helping them work more effectively with their assists. However, the boys end up just being lazy, and not realizing that their workers are messing everything up. You can sympathise for the business men because they’re just doing what they were told to do. This all seems to be metaphorical for when Pen and Patrick McHale started work on the show, and they got tons of help from Cartoon Network staff. They wanted to do everything by themselves, but ended up having to delegate. Maybe they feel lazy for it?

What makes this episode EXTRA SPECIAL, however, is its confirmation of the Great Mushroom War. By the time the season had released, the first shot of the intro was already Mushroom War bombs. There was also a reference to the war in the previous episode, where PB and Ricardio shared an interest in “ancient technology”. However, the only reason those references exist is because of THIS episode - This is the one they were working on when they decided it should be post-apocalyptic. They made the human zombies, and the icebergs filled with human junk, and then every GMW reference we see in the show is down to this decision.

I enjoy the physicality of this ep. Finn and Jake crash through the entire gauntlet. Finn’s still wearing his fire resistant glove as he does it. They get covered in bruises, because they... like pain? I liked when you could see Finn’s sword legit being shinier, and his shoes having bouncing noises. And I want to be hydrated! I loved how smushy Jake was when he became an ice cream monster. I love the colours of the Fluffy People. S1 has this unique art style compared to the rest of the series. They often draw white outlines to white things, it works nice here.
