The Asspull 3X controller. Looks rather strikingly similar to a certain other input device, doesn't it?

But that's not why I posted this.

I just watched an interesting YT video about the select button. About how the NES had one because some Nintendo arcade games had one and the controller therefore needed one for home ports. And how this then basically became a vestige of backwards compatibility. Even the PlayStation controller has a select button remaining from its past as the Nintendo Play Station (two words).

So the A3X controller, I designed it with start and select buttons. You can't see 'em on this render but there's two shoulder buttons too.

But does it really need a select button? Does it in fact need a start button, or can it be reasonably relabeled "pause"?

To wit, the GeneDrive's controller only has a single start button. Its predecessor the Master System had none, overloading 1 to also mean start. Almost(?) all Sega consoles afterwards also had only a start button.

The Gravis PC Gamepad of course also had none, but the PC-Engine had select and run buttons. And the XBox-lookalike Logitech controller I test all this with has start and back buttons.

So now I'm doubting myself again, as one does, and could really use some external inputs (lame pun intended) to help guide things.

No matter what comes out of this, at least things are reasonably easy to alter.

Вот на что потратил монетки из копилки. 2700 Хорошая цена для этой фирмы. Качество супер. Брал для Свича но говорят с пк тоже топ работает. Из особенностей- дополнительные кнопки, программируемые макросы и регулировка мертвых зон ( по умолчанию их нет но можно добавить) Очень порадовал внутренний аккумулятор.

Его легко достать и вместо него можно просто воткнуть две батарейки! это так гениально! ( Да хренкоробка- этот аккумул��тор оказывается можно класть в комплекте, а не требовать за него денег как за пол геймпада) Как итог- доволен. Из минусов- отсутствие HD вибрации, нфс ридера и возможность разбудить свич.
