FIRST NIGHT OF TOURDUST AT WRIGLEY
im writing down all the stuff that i remember so i dont forget!! obviously the big ones were GINASFS LIVE?? HELLO??? i was very unspoiled for the setlist so every song was a huge shock
tai as openers got a hUGE response. and it was great!!! im thrilled to report that bilvy is still a whore <3 he was playing submission games with mike and sisky the whole set, did snakes on a plane, doing high kicks and draping himself all over his bandmates as god intended
i mean it probably goes without saying but i need to shoutout the set design for this tour. oh my god it was SO beautiful. there were no big screens behind them, instead there was a big round screen mounted over the stage and it would play funky videos during all the songs. one half of the stage was this gorgeous blue wrought-iron looking thing with stars and monsters and a clock. the other side was glowing gold, so it was like a night/day dichotomy
there were big red curtains behind the guys and they would sweep shut for a few songs and when they opened again there'd be a new setpiece behind them. like a physical setpiece!! the first one was an anchor, the second was A MOVING DOGGIE HEAD, the third was a huge tree with owl eyes. they were fucking gorgeous
the pink seashell monologue played w/o any instrumentals before love from the other side kicked in
joe has a new guitar! it's like...green and super detailed, it's seriously so fucking fancy i need hq pictures of that thing stat
joe vocals were SUPER LOUD AND PROMINENT my god it was a blessing
patrick was KILLING it the whole concert. i was floored. fob songs are NOT EASY TO SING esp love from the other side but he was impeccable pretty much the whole night
he did fumble the lyrics to centuries tho dlfdjkjf looked like something was up with his soundboard around that time
they hit us with a triple-punch of chicago is so two years ago, calm before the storm, and then where is your boy, all in a row. patrick talked a little bit before where is your boy to be like "yeah so this was forever ago...i was jogging..." and pete chimes in "imagine us jogging"
patrick also talked a bit before they rolled the piano out. he was like "hi guys!! :)" and talked about how the set design was all pete's idea and it was super fucking fancy and he was floored by it. he said that pete suggested he play piano and then was like "ugh i dunno im not GREAT at that" (you fucking liar) and then that led up to the medley that closed with don't stop believing and the rest of the band joined in and AGHHH
i was not prepared to hear headfirst slide and disloyal order in the same night.
i was not prepared to hear HEAVEN IOWA that night. of all the stardust songs i did NOT EXPECT THAT ONE
for those who were involved in the stardust project, it went off really well the first night! i got my pink seashell and during fake out i looked behind me and the whole stadium was lit up pink! after it was over, pete was like "wow that looked amazing guys" so the band definitely noticed!
pete did the baby annihilation monologue live! he seemed kind of nervous he had his hoodie pulled up and everything but he delivered it very different from the studio version and when it was over he pulled a big black curtain over himself and then disappeared when it fell
save rock and roll live is always a treat but my god when the camera pulled back and i saw that all four members of fall out boy were smiling while they sang OH NOOO WE WON'T GO. my god. my heart.
they did not do a proper encore because they didnt want to tread into curfew, so we did not get a picture with them
OKAY THATS ALL I CAN REMEMBER FOR NOW. ILL ADD TO THIS IF I REMEMBER ANYTHING ELSE <3 THIS WAS A STELLAR START THANK YOU FALL OUT BOY I LOVE YOU FALL OUT BOY

1) Top 5 Zep songs
2) Top 5 most underrated Zep songs
3) Top 5 Jimmy eras
With explanations! Hey, you said you were bored 😝
hello!! im gonna do my best on the explanations because i suck at explaining everything 😂
1) no quarter, when the levee breaks, the song remains the same, heartbreaker, the rover
no quarter: the song in its entirety is an absolute fucking masterpiece, but a few of my favorite things about it is THE riff, organ solo, guitar solo, and robert’s vocals towards the end. it is such a powerful song in my opinion and it’s my favorite hehe
when the levee breaks: i remember when i first listened to this song, and i was just amazed. the drums are so catchy like??? AH it’s what makes the song so special y’know? and the harmonica parts, the guitar.. THE GUITAR! just fucking beautiful. i also love how it ends haha
the song remains the same: literally a song i can just dance to, it’s so happy and upbeat and my favorite lyric is “california sunlight, sweet calcutta rain, honolulu starbright, the song remains the same… lol it’s great. this song is a 10283727289/10 😊
heartbreaker: once again, THE riff, that swinging bass, so fucking groovy i love it. and of course the iconic guitar solo in this song, no other instruments, just the guitar.. robert’s vocals are so sexy too HAHA
the rover: one of my favorites off of PG, i love how bonzo’s drums start off the song in the beginning and then jimmy’s guitar just comes in.. fucking magical. the guitar throughout the song is like my favorite thing ever, it sounds so good. i love this song so so so so much 😍
2) white summer/black mountain side, traveling riverside blues, sugar mama, for your life, the crunge
white summer/black mountain side: the danelectro. the fucking danelectro. when jimmy performed this song live at RAH 1970 he just seemed so into it, like he was in some sort of trance almost (i mean he seemed like that for every song he performed LMAO) he put his whole heart and soul into this song, it’s so beautiful like.. the vibes i get from it as well.. it’s very mellow but happy. it’s hard to explain i just really enjoy listening to it
traveling riverside blues: squeeze my lemon till the juice runs down my leg.. squeeze it so hard i fall right out of bed 😂 lol but this is my favorite off of coda, the slide guitar is very catchy and the music video for this song is great haha.. didn’t know it even existed till a while ago, i always have to go back and watch it because of something (not jimmy, not him at all..)
sugar mama: i first heard this song on here actually, someone posted it (forgot who😅) and i remember i couldn’t stop listening to it for a little while, i was obsessed. i haven’t listened to it lately but i should i miss it haha. it’s on coda (deluxe edition) and if you haven’t heard it yet, please give it a listen it’s soooo good and for what? my favorite thing is the drums and guitar, how they just work together, y’know.. it’s great
for your life: is this song even underrated? not sure lol but i like it. i don’t know why, but i love robert’s voice in this.. and jimmy’s lil guitar riff haha
the crunge: gonna be appreciating jonesy a lot in this one.. cause SYNTHS, BASS, HELLO?? perfection. he ate this song up😍 it’s definitely different from any other song they wrote, but that’s why i love it.. it’s so fun to listen to. i cannot get enough of the synths. cannot get enough of bbg’s talented, sexy ass😏 also the ending is funny, “where’s that confounded bridge?” so iconic
3) i apologize this post is so goddamn long but i really wanted to answer this ask lol. but i think im gonna put pictures of my fav jimmy eras in this part
Tumblr media Tumblr media
hot damn.. long haired, princess pagey era. isn’t this everyone’s favorite jimmy era? cause like i cannot with how pretty he looks. he’s got such a sweet, soft face 🥺 ugh my top favorite for sure
Tumblr media Tumblr media
BEARD. BEARD. BEARD.
he looked so sexy with the beard, but also still looked absolutely adorable too at times. i need him LMAO he’s perfect
Tumblr media Tumblr media
erm.. THIS! his hair, jesus christ help me.. he looks so good i could cry 😩 also his face started to mature a bit during this time as well, which made him look EVEN MORE handsome (also.. ass in the last gif)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
75.
do i even need to explain myself here?
long hair is back.. beautiful face.. 🤭
Tumblr media Tumblr media
yardbean jimmy! he’s such a baby i love him i love him i love him i love him 🫶 i wanna just kiss him, n hug him, n hold him ☹️ sweet boy
whew! this was probably the longest post i’ve made ever, especially for an ask.. it’s been an hour LMAO but i hope my explanations were.. understandable, and made sense LOL. thank you @lzep for the ask! love ya❤️

jade chimes - UGHHDIASFUFDSDFHFDHJHD literally shaking crying throwing up listening to this i am OBSESSED with how it builds and when it gets to the subtle vocalizations in the back oh my gooddddd oh my fucking god. its like neath the fountain but in different font i don't know what it is about these kinds of tracks that just fucking GET ME was almost gonna make this my teapot theme but this is a song that needs to be savored and appreciated in complete stillness it needs my full undivided attention. easily an all time favorite EASILY she sits at the table with neath the fountain and chatter between roots and all the others i listed that one time.
dusk's descent - I kinda glossed over this on my first listen but I'm bringing it back on because holy fuck once it builds!!!!! so good
when the herb fades - i absolutely adore baizhu/changsheng's theme always very much welcome another rendition of it

mountainborn gale - shout out to the solitary suanni for having an absolutely fucking banger of a boss theme to make farming it a billion times for xianyun less painful 🙏

Hello 🥺 What do you think about the piano in Falling being very prominent in the introduction and during the chorus, yet quiet in the verses? Thank you!
Hi!!! Ok a) of all this is such a sweetly phrased question, bless you, b) I’m sorry I’m answering this so late, I am literally awful about putting off answering asks for weeks— but c) of all what do you say we just call it even because ugh you made me listen to Falling on a Sunday morning, dsdfjkdsjf so many feelings. <3 but also </3, jfc I love this song so much.
Big fan of this question and mainly what I think is just— I love the instrumentation of Falling just because it’s so simple? It’s just a lil piano. And in the verses, you’re right, it’s really subdued. I’ve always thought of it as an emotional build kind of deal, like, I think it’s an attention-catcher in the intro, for one, and the chorus is supposed to be an emotional center of the song, so that’s where the piano gets really evocative and loud again; and I love how H draws attention to his voice by having less/lower piano in the verses, where he tells the real story of the song, and lets the piano rip in the chorus, as the emotion of it all pours out of him.
But also, in this song, I like to think (likely somewhat baselessly, lmao) that musical cuing and like, presence of musical themes are a thing? This is getting a little further from your question, but one of my favorite things about the way Falling sounds is how well it pairs with Sign of the Times. If you sing the SOTT chorus over the Falling chorus, I swear to you it sounds so good, it’s heavenly, it’s so lovely. And from there, I'm kinda like, well, the piano in Falling’s verses, that makes me think of the slow piano in SOTT’s verses, those slow, low repetitive chords that are common to both songs. I had this pet theory a while ago that the three-note upward progression at the end of SOTT and the three-note downward progression at the end of Falling could kind of mirror one another, if you did a bit of jostling em around— and at the least, I think they really sound nice together and they sound similar, which makes sense because they were written by the same person, but. Falling’s themes of self-loathing and self-reflection and loneliness and hopelessness and guilt, put in conversation with SOTT’s gritty hope, its kind of dismal look toward the future and its attitude of, like, this is what we have, hush your crying, the kinda resigned, Dylanesque all you can do is do what you must lyrical vibe— that combination is such a powerful one to me. Coming from a not dissimilar sonic background, SOTT asks why we’re always stuck in the same cycles of hurt and longing, and then in Falling we hear from a person in the middle of exactly that: a cycle of hurt and longing that makes it feel like the room is filling up with water, even as in another moment that person advises themselves to rise up into the sky, leave it all behind, let it all go.
So, in short, the piano in Falling 1) makes me think about Harry’s artistic choices about drawing certain emotions out of his listeners, the storytelling journey of a song, where to code information and where to code emotion and how you can use instruments to help support that; and 2) makes me wonder about lyrical or sonic similarities between his songs, even across his albums, and the ways that makes me feel as a listener.
Thanks for the question, anon, hope I answered it and hope you are having a happy day <3 if you've got thoughts and want to come back and share I'd love to hear! Also going to link @finelinegynandromorph brilliant post about falling because it feels in line with this ask, they have some incredible thoughts about the vocal/harmonic choices H makes in this song, a post worth multiple reads for sure <3

A Review on NCT 127′s 3rd Album <Sticker>
So NCT 127 just came back with their 3rd Full Album <Sticker> and this is my first 127 comeback since I became a fan last year! Neozone is such a special album for me as it was their first album that I explored entirely. I've known NCT as the group who never fails any expectations so I've kept mine up although I know they'll exceed it anyway. And guess what, they did! I absolutely love their new album hence this review~
This isn't a technical music review—as I am not a musician myself—but rather a listener's honest takes, goofy notes, and interpretation on each of the tracks in the album. I admit I've also struggled to build my own opinions on some of the tracks until I listened to them over and over again.
I have also heard there are mixed opinions on the title track <Sticker> and a lot says it's another acquired taste. But I think it's not just that, as it can be a grower, just like how most of NCT's songs were for me. Maybe after a few listens and a right passage of time, it will grow on those people. The bottom line here is, I like it a lot! 😛
So I listed down the songs according to their respective track numbers and followed each with a bulleted list of my opinions and interpretations.
(Viewer/reader discretion: before you continue, minors, do not interact as there are few 18+ contents under the cut. Thank you.)

1. Sticker
Tumblr media
THEY DIDN'T JUST PUNCH A NEW NOTCH ON THE BELT LIKE THAT
THIS SONG SLAPS, LITERALLY SLAPS… AND WHIPS
The recorder at the intro boyyyy I thought something was wrong but then I remember it’s NCT lmao
It already stuck in my head from my first listen from the Instagram audio.
With Taeyong opening the verse with his divine rapping, I knew I'm in for a new ride.
STICK-UH STICK-UGH STICK-UGHGHGH
To those complaining it sounding like noise music, imagine it sounding generic. I don't think it would fit as the title track. Not a b-track or in their repertoire, even. They are called NCT because they define the NEO in the music culture and music technology!
It honestly was an unorthodox, just like all of their title tracks, which I’m inherently here for.
Literally, no one does it like them!
The growls and the vocal flexes and adlibs! (You can tell it has Yoo Youngjin's brand.)
The crisp metronome sound that’s consistently ticking except for the pre-chorus and the dance break adds depth to the soundscape. I love how it’s used instead of the usual snaps.
The production quality blew my mind. Like how can someone think those melodies would sound so exquisite? CAN I CALL THEM GENIUS?
The piano at the back, oh my God—Yes! It adds this mystifying element to the song.
I'm not sure if it's a midi violin at the pre-chorus, but it added thrill to the song. It was a great transition from the bass line in the verses to the combination of the flawless harmony with the same instrumental.
"You treat me like a boy, like a grown-up child chasing a dream" JUNGWOO BABY NO MORE HUH
Taeil, Doyoung, and Haechan—the bridge vocal trinity!
But why the heck are they cowboys? I dig the concept, but why? LMAO
BTW GUNSLINGER MARK I’M ON MY KNEES YEEHAW
This is easily one of my favorite tracks from NCT 127's entire discography 💚
2. Lemonade
Tumblr media
(⌐■_■)
Jaehyun starting off this song with his deep voice eee
The song opens to a verse oozing with chill confidence. They're like, yeah you're lurking because we’re cool.
This is such a huge slap to their haters. NCT's not chillin' like a villain, nah they're the main characters!
Well maybe they’re villains, but still ya not cooler than them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Funny enough how they could have just referred haters as simply lemons whose sour/bitter to the taste, but 127 squad's success is sweeter than all the haters' spiteful remarks so yeah, SIPPY SIPPY LEMONADE 🧃
"WOOF"
I might have just barked too wOW
Yuta’s vocals hooooO his voice just sounds so glamorous mhmm
Also Mark referencing their previous title tracks such as: Firetruck, Cherry Bomb, and Regular (it's Irregular in the lyrics) in his rap part 👌💅
I just love Mark's energy when he raps. HE RESOLUTELY BITES AND STRAIGHT UP EATS EVERY TIME HE DOES.
3. Breakfast
Tumblr media
Now breakfast time, oh jeez!
AAAHAHFU—
Summer 127's bestie!
If Summer 127 talks about dancing all night long, Breakfast is the morning after.
You know what it is.
"Even if I gulp and drink you, it's not enough for me." oho Taeyong no you ha—STOP
Sexual innuendos aside, isn't it just sweet if someone tells you they'd want to have breakfast with you every day?  Okay maybe I'm melting at the thought 😩🙈💞
And I can see myself dancing to this song as I make breakfast (in the afternoon or at midnight bc I’m crazy)
This was an okay b-track for me at the first skim on the album, but boy it grew on me wildly.
Honestly one of my favorite tracks in this album.
4. Focus
Tumblr media
Did I just invade a private call? LMAO
The analog voice filters make it like so.
Dude, this feels intimate in the level of eavesdropping a phone call between seasoned lovers. Then you realize you hear them whispering their kinks over the line and you're ooh, that's sexy! hfgklhfhf
My first listen to this, I almost went feral because,
"I can't wait to eat you…" when it's actually "I can't wait 'til we chill…" aahaha
"Baby call me when you want me." OKAY!
This sounds relaxing and chill. I'd love to play this on a late night drive or just before bed time along with Fly Away With Me, Sun & Moon, My Youth, and Long Flight.
Belongs to ‘make out session’ playlist  ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
That was lowkey a playlist recommendation, huh?
I'd be kidding if I don't say I could touch myself while listening to this song AHAHAFGHFJFJ
I didn't know this would grow on me this much lol I love love LOVE THIS!
5. The Rainy Night
Tumblr media
Ooh, the holy melancholy!
Piano at the intro—I knew I'd cry to this.
This song isn't just about break-up, but the heartbreak after one.
The yearning; the remnant pieces from the shattering of what was once there.
I think I crumbled from this one.
This hit so hard I felt like I fit in the shoes with the lyrics throughout the entire song.
What’s fascinating is I clearly forgot the title when I mentally said this sounds like a sad rainy day song from the first listen.
Something I’d turn up when it suddenly rains, just because I want to feel the blues.
Taeil and Haechan singing in lower register? I wanna cry :( they’re just one of the best vocalists in K-music industry right now.
Could have been also nice if they added Yuta to the vocals.
"My selfish heart who waits for you to come back," OKAY WHO HURT THEM?
And the fact that they sang it so good that it translated every ounce of the emotions well even before I looked up for English translations is the reason why I love this song too.
6. Far
Tumblr media
Hmm… What the hell?! Do I like this? Wait...
Alright!
The jumpy vibe from the first verse to the pre-chorus set the mood for this song. It sounds merry and heavy. It was honestly too much to take until I’ve reached the chorus part.
Honestly, I think this song could fit NCT Dream better, as it gives off a vibe similar to Hello Future's b-tracks. If some credible source say this could have made HF’s track list, I might believe you too fast.
Also Dream’s Deja Vu where they go na nananananana na na na~
Playful yet confident! That’s what I mean!
As usual, the vocals are insane! Vocal flex from left to right!
I swear Jungwoo sounded a bit like Taemin at the second verse that I had to replay it hahaha
I love hearing Johnny as a vocalist! SM, how many signs do you need until you utilize his vocal talent???
Taeil's part where he sings, "go nuts, go nuts, 'til we go bust, go bust" IDEK BUT I SNORTED A LAUGH AT FIRST LISTEN HFCAHKFHK
Not my favorite, but still great though!
But wait it’s actually stuck in my head???
7. Bring The Noize
Tumblr media
Yes, they never beat those noise music allegations
HERE'S SOME NOIZE, BITCHES
I love me some noisy percussions. AND THE BASS YO
This screams so much confidence!
The build up from the pre-chorus to the chorus—FIRE!
This song reminds me a lot of SuperM's Super Car, especially with the engine roar samples and the battle cry-like singing at the chorus.
JAEHYUN RAPPING? You mean Jaehyun the visual, the vocalist, the actor, the model, the funny dude, aka my everything?! (markie bb look pls look away for a moment)
THEY DELIVERED IT STRAIGHT FROM NEOCITY THAT'S SOME NCT MUSIC RIGHT THERE NO ONE DOES IT LIKE THEM
When I said I'd play Focus on a late night drive, and if I add this in the playlist, VROOM VROOM SPEED LIMIT WHAT
OUTTA MY WAY
“We got no shame” ouh TAEYONG’S FLOW IS JUST VERY HIM AND HE’S IN A LEAGUE OF HIS OWN
You know what's so clever about this song? It's how it ended with Mark's final rap without any instrumental, leaving you  standing there with a doppler effect-like post experience.
A super car on a super speed just whooshed past you and you look its way as it zips through the road. It's gone in an instant but you're floored dumbfounded at a sidewalk. That's how I describe this song.
8. Magic Carpet Ride
Tumblr media
This song… Wow. Oh gosh it's so beautiful.
Their harmony in the chorus—it makes me want to kiss someone so passionately that I'd cry.
This makes me want to feel love that transcends the universe. Literally, just please take me on a magic carpet ride :(
The background harmonies too oh my goodness—HEAVENLY.
Jaehyun's voice is so warm and soulful it fits perfectly with songs of this genre.
Okay alright Doyoung Grande!
And Taeil makes me feel like I'm listening to old school R&B.
The first time I heard this from the track video, I can't stop replaying because it's just that great.
This makes me want to love. I think that sums it up.
9. Road Trip
Tumblr media
This is such a soothing song for me, especially how I easily become nostalgic thinking about the road trips I've had.
Whenever I listen to this, my brain immediately conjures up thoughts of my ideal getaways. Gazing at the sky through the car window, stirring up from a nap in the middle of the ride, and   eventually reaching your destination.
Oh, to travel around anywhere... (curse you covid-19)
Okay that's it. I'M PACKING UP.
But where do I go—
I could also imagine Mark playing this on the guitar and the other members sing along together, something like that.
Just Wholesome™ vibes.
I love how it evokes such a nice emotion within me effortlessly.
This isn't my favorite, but I still love this.
10. Dreamer
Tumblr media
Eyyyy such a refreshing song!
This song is so bright it makes me want to dance. I play this first in the shower!
It reminds me so much of Elevator (from Neozone)
The horns make it more lively I think!
Yuta and Jungwoo's voice suits lively songs like this.
The background vocal in low register in Taeyong's part in the first verse is so good ahhfhf
Taeil, the R&B vocal king you are...
There's this part where Doyoung and Johnny harmonized, that at first listen they seemed to clash, but it sounded actually fine after a few listens. Maybe it's just that I've never heard them do it before.
And I think it's Doyoung's laugh at the end of the bridge? Oh my goodness I really love this too!
11. Promise You
Tumblr media
MY FIRST LOVE AND MOST FAVORITE SONG IN THE ALBUM!!!
The first time I heard this from their NCIT Sharehouse Sitcom, I fell in love with the song already.
It sounds like something you'd feel from a warm, welcoming hug.
The lyrics are so beautiful and endearing. It's definitely a be-there-for-you type of song that will touch your heart.
It definitely sounds like a promise.
A song about platonic intimacy.
This really fits to be the closing song of the album. It's like the end of it but holds a promise that says “see you soon.”
Because they cherish their fans like that.
It's also like I've watched a movie with a happy ending, where the camera pans up to the clear sky and this song starts playing.
Speaking of ending, I would love to hear them sing this as an encore stage in their concert. You know, that moment just before the stage lights die down at the end of the concert where they send final blows of flying kisses to NCTzens. Then you come home smiling and crying.
Tumblr media
This wasn't supposed to be this long since I originally planned to write this with just simple phrases and emojis but I got too engrossed lol. I also meant to include my own ratings but I figured it’s pointless since I can’t really decide about them hahaha
I really enjoyed the whole album and I love how they're progressively defining what NEO means by breaking through standards. It's not NCT music if it doesn't make you say "WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT?" But then you realize it’s stuck in your head and you’re enjoying it already.
✨ OVERALL RATING: 127/10 💚
if you’ve reached until here, thank you for letting me share you a braincell or two 💞

Xoxo Droplets’ Jerk Squad Band AU
So this came to me while I was listening to Yeah Right off of Evanescence’s latest album, The Bitter Truth.
Yeah I know, but hear me out:
•They were all in an after-school program for ~cultivating musical talent in troubled youth~
•Even though most of them cannot stand each other, as a whole they’re almost magical onstage
• Nate is the frazzled manager of course, constantly stretched within an inch of his life but he claims a perfect (by his standards) show is worth all the stress
• Bae writes the lyrics, handles a majority of the PR– if somebody tries to spin his words he can spin it right back on them– and I also feel he could play the electric violin for the songs that call for it (it’s a thing and it’s epic)
•Jeremy seems to be the type to have piano aggressively encouraged to him by his parents, so he’s on keyboard and composes most of the music
Imagine Bae leaning over Jeremy “No no cupcake, I know it’s difficult for anyone to keep up with my genius, but you modulate the key on the next line” and pointing
“If you don’t get that finger out of my face I will stuff this sheet music up your nasal cavity”
“...and don’t call me cupcake”
•JB takes lead guitar and does a lot of showboating, works the crowd and is usually in some sort of scandalous headline every week but she loves it
•Shiloh plays bass and provides backup vocals, he’s annoying but they keep him towards the front of the stage because his energy is infectious so we might as well put him to use
• I can see Everett having the ability to use both hands equally well, so he’s on drums and enjoys having his finger on the very heartbeat of the metaphorical system, probably dabbles in the synth too
•Pran is the one-man tech wizard and has as tiny of a presence as possible, only the most hardcore fans know what he even looks like
•[If we bring the reader into this, they were hand-selected by JB for their seemingly sweet, friendly, conflict-averse demeanor as well as their powerful voice– she didn’t want too much competition for the boys’ attention]
•[Whether her judgement is sound remains to be seen, but my money’s on not]
•[On the other hand, there’s still enough onstage chemistry between them to play it up for the fans and the press]
•They definitely squabbled over the name
• “Hear me out: Baend.” “NO” “JB and the JBs” “oh, please” “get real” “could we squish all of our names together?” “Ah yes, because none of the members of the band could ever switch out, it’s not like that happens only all the time”
• “What about ‘That Band’?” “Seriously?” “It’s no worse than anything else that’s been suggested” “Ugh fine” “wait I was being sarcastic” “well too bad we’re sticking with it now” “this is all your fault Jeremy”
each member has a good amount of groupies/fangirls. JB, Everett, and Shiloh revel in the spotlight and have a lot of overnight visitors to their respective rooms, Bae pretends he’s above all that but he’ll have the occasional “dalliance” as well which is,,, not what you’d think
Legit he sells a limited amount of ‘day dates’ to his fans at every tour stop which consists of him hanging out with them for a certain price, it’s only word-of-mouth through the hardcore base which just adds to the mystique
• Nate and Jeremy are like “gross”, but at least they have fans and at the very least that’s good for both business and their image
• Pran HATES it lol he’s just like “Why. Why.”
• “Must be a bunch of burnt out losers who weren’t hugged enough as children.”
• They all constantly diss everyone else’s outfits and haircuts, naturally

•Pran: turns it down low
•JB: Hello, world! ...it’s not working. Testing, one two three.

•JB has some cool pins on the strap of her guitar and has a few different guitars she rotates though depending on her mood
•Everett and Shiloh have similar stickers on their respective instruments, they still mock each others’ taste in decoration though because them

•Nate: WHAT
•Nate: YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS RIGHT NOW
• Everett: Lol jk here they are in my back pocket
•Bae: Wonnndderrrfulll, crisis averted.
• Shiloh: Everett, that’s not really funny...
• Everett: F***ing can it, freckles.
• Shiloh: :( you can it.
• JB: everybody shut up before I make you shut up
• Everett: ;) is that so?
• Jeremy: kill me now.
• Nate, offstage: I need a raise...
•[Reader once walked in on Nate aggressively rubbing at his eyes and sniffling after a particularly rough week, but he brushed it off as seasonal allergies and they didn’t press the matter at the time]
•Roommate musical chairs kept happening at every single stop until finally everyone was fed up with everybody, even the ones who usually get along, so Bae and Nate decided on getting everyone their own room while touring– they even added a clause to the contract to make sure it would happen for the divas (yes that includes the two of them)

why richard robbins is a king among men, or an analysis of the maurice (1987) soundtrack
hello, i am gay, a former band kid, and a slut for classical music analysis…… so i’ve been wanting to do an in-depth analysis of Richard Robbins’ absolutely breathtaking soundtrack for Maurice (1987) for some time. it’s an incredibly emotionally moving work of art, but i also feel like there’s so much care and thought and soul put into the pieces of the soundtrack, and Robbins absolutely deserves all the credit in the world for writing the perfect accompaniment to the film. the songs have lives of their own, outside of the film, but they also breathe a certain life into the scenes when paired with the performances of the actors and the cinematography and camera work. the soundtrack means so much to me, so i wanted to take a moment (or a few thousand words or so) to expand on all of its intricacies. i’m not a professional musician or a music student, i’ve j been playing woodwinds for over a decade and can find my way around a guitar and piano, so these are my thoughts and interpretations as a musician. feel free to share yours! this was a bit of an undertaking, so i recommend reading while listening, and i hope u enjoy!
(the pieces are listed in order of their appearance in the film, not the album)
PROLOGUE - THE LESSON
The opening piece is a very traditional overture, setting the mood for the film and foreshadowing the (musical) events to come. It begins with a mysterious, almost eerie sound with pizzicato in the low strings and high woodwind and harp lines before opening into the dominating melody in the high strings. Though the melody is grand and moving, it also has an air of hesitancy, almost melancholy, and in this moment, we’re introduced to Maurice’s musical signature, the clarinet (specifically, the low clarinet line). The low clarinet triplets and the sets of five recurring notes in the low flute and violin create a sense of impatience and forward motion, as we can sense young Maurice’s uncertainty in his conversation with his headmaster. This section transitions into a solo in the English horn, which Robbins uses to represent the idyllic, pastoral English countryside. Here, it seems to signal both the natural surroundings that the scene takes place in, as well as the pastoral beauty of childlike innocence. This solo honestly gets me EVERY TIME, it’s so gorgeous and the gradual layering of other instruments underneath is mesmerizing. The piece ends with shrieking upward woodwind scales, capturing the sense of impending fear that we can sense in young Maurice.
AT THE PIANOLA
This piece is a bit strange to listen to outside of the film, as it plays in the scene as Clive and Maurice play Featherstonehaugh’s pianola in his Cambridge dorm room. The piece captures Clive and Maurice’s pianola playing, which echoes the thematic melody introduced in the opening composition, but the single piano line is quickly swept away by a traditional string orchestra before moving into a call-and-response between the high strings and high woodwinds. I always thought this piece was so beautiful in its development, growing from a simple piano melody into a fully orchestrated concerto. The melody, particularly in its piano form, always struck me as very French, reminiscent of the French Romantic pianists with some impressionist elements as well. The transition from piano melody into the full orchestra is welcome, but overwhelming—it evokes the excitement and intensity of falling in love, as the film reaches the precipice of Clive’s confession. The instrumentation is also fascinating here: as I mentioned previously, Maurice is musically represented by the clarinet and/or woodwind melodies, but Clive usually comes through as high strings. This piece is pushed forward by the strings, as the violin and viola take on the melody under the piano and are followed by the woodwinds. The woodwinds follow the strings in a call-and-response pattern, musically establishing Clive’s lead in their romance, with Maurice following along with his advances, especially at first.
MISERERE (GREGORIO ALLEGRI)
UGH I have so much to say about this piece. I want to start with its origins, which is a setting of Psalm 51 to music, at first for the exclusive use in the Sistine Chapel during Holy Week (a nod to this scene taking place in the spring, around Easter). We all know this piece and the scene it accompanies, as those shots of Cambridge (and that wicker chair) are forever immortalized in my heart (<333) The lyrics are incredibly significant, as Psalm 51 is a confession of sin by David—specifically, of his feelings of lust for Bathsheba.
Have mercy upon me, O God: after Thy great goodness. According to the multitude of Thy mercies, do away mine offences. Wash me thoroughly from my wickedness: and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my faults: and my sin is ever before me. Against Thee only have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that Thou mightest be justified in Thy saying, and clear when Thou art judged.
David is asking for mercy for his act of sin, and to be “cleansed” from his lustful act by God.
Make me a clean heart, O God: and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from Thy presence: and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me. O give me the comfort of Thy help again: and stablish me with Thy free Spirit.
He prays for God to return to his life, and to give him salvation again.
I think this choice of psalm is SO fascinating, as it can take on two meanings. On one hand, it represents the feelings of guilt that both Maurice and Clive feel for their attraction to each other, knowing that their feelings are considered to be sinful in their (and the societal) understanding of Christianity. In a way, this piece can signify both Clive and Maurice asking for that salvation and asking to be saved from their desire. On the other hand, however, I think the choice to overlay this particular piece with Maurice and Clive’s first moment of physical intimacy is critical in interpreting its meaning. Rather than asking for salvation from God, the psalm’s lyrics could also represent Maurice and Clive asking for salvation from each other through their desire. There are a few points in the psalm that could be read in a rather different light in this context, particularly “Thou shalt open my lips, O Lord: and my mouth shall shew [show] Thy praise.” The “high spirit” that they are searching for, in this case, is not the forgiveness of sin by God, but rather the intimacy and physical affection of a lover. (As Forster points out in a later section of the book, one’s God and one’s lover can be equal “incentives to virtue.”) I feel like this psalm is being used in both ways: as a reminder of the internal and external pressure that Maurice and Clive face, but also to musically express the reciprocal desire they are seeking from each other as they begin to explore the physical side of their relationship. This piece is also just so damn beautiful, the high C just gets me every fucking time. The specific vocal arrangement—and the excerpt of that arrangement—that Robbins decided to use highlights a solo female soprano, sounding almost like a Greek siren. As her voice emerges from the varying vocal textures, there is a sense of seductiveness, but there is also a loneliness there, as she stands alone among the choir. The choice to center the soloist was a beautiful way to show the loneliness that Maurice and Clive feel as they both continue to hold that fear and hesitancy about their feelings and desire.
THE CAFE ROYAL
This piece plays during the infamous “to the ladies!” scene, during which the Halls and the Durhams are dining together, and Clive announces his decision to become a barrister and enter politics. This piece begins as a classic, grandiose waltz, representing the glamor and high society lifestyle that the two wealthy families live within. At the beginning especially, it seems almost overstated, hinting at the façade of British upper-class life that Maurice desperately despises. As the piece continues, a duet of low clarinet and oboe emerge with a woeful melody that is built upon on its repetition by a dark solo cello line. (I don’t play double reeds or cello but they’re two of my favorites, and all I can say is that Richard Robbins knew how to pick instruments that fuck, plain and simple.) The contrast in mood created between this grand waltz sound and the individual instruments emphasizes the trapped, isolated feeling that both Maurice and Clive feel as upper-class British men, expected to have careers, marry, and build families. Stuck in the middle of their constructed lives, Maurice and Clive are represented by the duet and solo lines, standing out among society and desperate for an escape.
IN GREECE / THE WEDDING
This piece opens with a haunting melody that sounds almost like a chorus—I’m still not entirely sure what the instrumentation of this section is, but it sounds like high woodwinds and strings layered together and/or an echoey, chime-like percussion instrument. The lone melodic line overlaid with harp runs (again, Robbins said I will exclusively highlight instruments that fuck hard, and ignore everything else) in the beginning brings the same sort of haunting loneliness as in “Miserere,” evoking the duality of the Greek siren as well as the hymnal church choir. Gradually, the piece builds into a waltz through the development of a pizzicato bass line as well as running woodwind and string harmonic lines. I think the use of a waltz in this section of the piece is a symbol of the bitter end of Maurice and Clive’s relationship, as the minor key and legato melody in the high woodwinds gives the waltz a mournful quality.
The opening section of the piece is quickly interrupted by the abrupt and angry sound of an organ. Rather than romantic, this interlude is loud and overwhelming, representing Clive’s overzealous transition into heterosexual marriage and family life. The interlude then transitions into a beautiful but incredibly sad melody, reminiscent of the music that might accompany a funeral service. This short but emotive section is probably one of my favorites in the entire soundtrack—as it plays, we can see Maurice exiting the wedding chapel after Clive and Anne, and that hidden pain and fear and loneliness is brought to life by this melody.
PENDERSLEIGH IN GLOOM
Simultaneously romantic and melancholy, this short piano interlude demonstrates the inspiration that Robbins took from classical French pianists. This composition reminds me of a transition section within a Debussy piece as the uneven tempo and dynamics exude emotion, conflict, and hesitation. In this moment in the narrative, between Clive’s marriage and Maurice’s meeting of Alec, Maurice is in a state of contemplation and uncertainty, and Robbins has reflected that perfectly.
MISS EDNA MAY’S SURPRISE / THE TRAIN
Though this piece is definitely not the most sonically appealing, I think it is the most texturally interesting on the soundtrack. The piano melody in “Miss Edna Mae’s Surprise” begins as a playful, jaunty, idyllic piece, but quickly builds drama and transitions into the surreal and eerie. The melody wavers between fun and nightmarish, never fully settling into one, but establishing tension through the contrast between the two. As the piece builds layers of woodwinds and strings, it continues this contrast between the expected, playful melody and something more sinister before suddenly merging into a screeching, forceful ending with high woodwinds and piano. Similar to “The Café Royal,” this piece represents the internal conflict that Maurice faces and his fear of settling down into the heterosexual family structure. While there is a sense of joy and happiness on the surface level, as Maurice acts the part to uphold societal norms, internally he is incredibly afraid of being trapped in a cycle of marriage and family that would be unfulfilling and dishonest to his selfhood.
The next section of this piece, “The Train,” is one of the most creative compositions I’ve heard in a long time, and I was honestly blown away when I listened to it closely (and LOUDLY). Rather than using train sound effects, Robbins uses the sounds of the orchestra to emulate the different sounds one might hear on a steam engine train. The rhythmic beat of the railway tracks underneath the train car are created by repetitive staccato notes in the strings and percussion. The airy, legato sound of the steam engine is actually created by single reed woodwind instruments played in a particular way. The woodwind players are blowing air into their instruments with a very loose embouchure, which is the muscle tension created by the lips around the mouthpiece that forces the wooden reed to vibrate and create sound. By loosening their embouchure, the players are blowing air into their instruments without the reed vibrating, resulting in a sound resembling air or stream escaping from engine pipes (can u tell im a clarinet player :-)). The melody of this piece emerges in the high woodwinds, including upper clarinets, flutes, and oboe. The melody line is eerie and tense, much like the mood of the train scene in the film, and the blended lines are erratic and dissonant. They seem to echo and fade in strange ways, mimicking the sound of an approaching or departing train whistle. Robbins is able to capture the sounds of a steam engine locomotive while also establishing the tension and conflict in Maurice’s character in this scene. As a woodwind player, I am in complete awe at Robbins’ creativity in building this composition, and I honestly think his ability to layer these sounds to create such a complex, textured sonic landscape is nothing short of genius.
THE MOONLIT NIGHT (a tiny bit nsfw, feel free to skip!)
Maurice’s nightmare of the “sinking ship” of heterosexuality is brought to life through an eerie, isolated English horn solo over tense string chords, eventually transitioning into a low clarinet melody, Maurice’s musical signature. Slowly, as Maurice’s nightmare fades away and he wakes up from his sleep, the low clarinet melody diminishes and is overtaken by low, warm chords in the lower woodwinds (bass clarinet, my beloved <3). These low sounds are interrupted by hesitant but curious flute runs, through which Robbins introduces Alec’s musical manifestation. The flute sounds grow faster in tempo and more intense in sound as Alec watches Maurice from outside his room but reduce to a single line of low strings, woodwinds, and percussion as he climbs through Maurice’s window. This ominous and minimal sound is gradually layered with sudden high strings, led by Maurice’s low clarinet, before fading away into near silence until the first touch suddenly takes the piece into swift motion. It develops into a beautiful and intricate waltz as Maurice and Alec embrace, representing their intimacy through the style of a partnered ballroom dance. The melody of the waltz, layered over staccato strings, is an ascending, fluttering scale that begins in the clarinet before finishing in the flute. Robbins’ choice to compose the melody as a shared scale between Maurice and Alec’s respective instrumental representation is a perfect way to express their first night together, and the airy, light, understated flute is a brilliant way to embody the spirit of Alec’s character. In the final section of the piece, as the melody grows irregular and begins to fade away, the ascending lines and rhythmic pizzicato strings begin to mirror the gasping breaths and soft moans of intimacy, constructing a gorgeously imaginative musical landscape for this critical scene.
ALEC’S FAREWELL
This short but expressive piece captures Maurice’s transition from dejected acceptance of Alec’s departure to a tentative hope as he realizes that Alec has missed his boat to Buenos Aires. Plucked bass and a fragmentary string melody overlay a tense, oscillating clarinet line, representing Maurice’s internal anticipation as he anxiously fidgets in the taxi ride back to Pendersleigh. At this point, Maurice does not have confirmation that Alec has purposefully missed his boat to reunite with him, but the suspense created by Robbins’ minimalistic composition leaves room for such a possibility, without completely revealing its certainty.
THE BOATHOUSE
This piece begins as Maurice makes his way towards the boathouse on the evening of Alec’s expected departure. He has just spoken to Clive, confessing his love for Alec, and now hopes to be reunited with his lover in the boathouse, the safe haven that Alec had promised Maurice after their first night together. Continuing where “Alec’s Farewell” left off with an oscillating clarinet line and minimal strings, the piece quickly erupts into motion as a solo clarinet begins a low triplet melody, accompanied by strings and a solo oboe harmony (the clarinet line is fucking FIRE and I would pay so much goddamn money for the sheet music). The clarinet solo moves swiftly, desperately, shifting between major and minor keys to represent Maurice’s restless search for Alec. As he enters the boathouse, the clarinet ascends a scale before lingering on a high A, as if he is calling for Alec. When the call is not answered, the clarinet line repeats, bringing Maurice’s anticipation to its height until he opens a second door and finds Alec resting within the room behind it. As the two meet and share a moment of reconciliation (“So, you got the wire, then?”), a lingering bass note (another one of Alec’s musical representations) swells into serene, legato woodwind chords that echo until their final kiss, and Alec’s “Now we shan’t ever be parted, and that’s finished.”
While listening to this song more closely, I was completely struck by its similarities to Leonard Bernstein’s “Somewhere” from the 1957 musical West Side Story. The final chords in “The Boathouse” are strikingly similar to the final high woodwind chords echoed by a low bass line in “Somewhere.” Bernstein also highlights clarinets throughout the musical, particularly to emphasize the vocals of the protagonist, Tony, while using flutes to underscore the voice of María, Tony’s love interest. Aside from the musical similarities, I think the thematic parallels between the story of Tony and María are worth mentioning as a source of musical inspiration for Robbins. A retelling of Romeo and Juliet set in 1950s New York, Bernstein’s West Side Story is a classic tragedy of an unconventional relationship that is unaccepted by society. Although not sharing in its tragic ending, Maurice definitely builds on the cultural trope of two star-crossed lovers desperate for an escape from a prejudiced society. Bernstein himself was gay, although he spent much of his career closeted, and West Side Story (particularly “Somewhere,” but also “One Hand, One Heart,” “Tonight,” and “Finale”) became emblematic of the struggles that gay couples face, especially with the popularity of musical theatre among American gay men. The lyrics (copied below, but I highly recommend finding the 1957 ballet version or the 1961 film version!) represent Maurice and Alec’s story beautifully, and the fact that Robbins was inspired by this piece of media that holds so much significance for queer people when composing the soundtrack for Maurice makes my gay little heart grow three sizes <3
There's a place for us, Somewhere a place for us. Peace and quiet and open air Wait for us, somewhere.
There's a time for us, Some day a time for us, Time together with time spare, Time to learn, time to care. Some day, Somewhere, We'll find a new way of living, We'll find a way of forgiving. Somewhere, Somewhere . . . There's a place for us, A time and place for us. Hold my hand and we're halfway there. Hold my hand and I'll take you there Somehow, Some day, Somewhere!
CLIVE AND ANNE
For Clive’s final scene, Robbins returns to piano and string instrumentation in the melody, representing a return to the traditional life that Clive now finds himself living with Anne. This variation on Clive’s signature melody, however, is significantly slowed down, almost to the tempo of a funeral march or dirge. As he shuts each of the windows, eventually stopping for a brief moment to reminisce on his time with Maurice, the melody grows increasingly loud and desperate as the high woodwinds are layered in. The sudden and dramatic development of this piece sound like a futile cry out for help, as Clive remains trapped in a prison of his own creation. The composition ends without a concluding chord, tense and unresolved. It’s fascinating to me that we can hear Robbins’ simultaneous resentment and pity for Clive—though the piece is deeply sorrowful, Robbins does not leave Clive with a satisfying ending, choosing to keep him suspended in the societal purgatory that he chose for himself.
END TITLES
Are you crying yet? No? I don’t believe you. Robbins establishes the ending to the story by building the piece off of a gentle, pastoral variation of Maurice’s low clarinet melody. The legato chords and balance of high and low instrumentation recall Robbins’ musical sampling of “Somewhere” before the melody shifts into a call-and-answer duet between the clarinet (alongside an oboe) and flute. Much like the clarinet and flute duet in “The Moonlit Night,” the two lines blend together—but in this final composition, Robbins has written the two parts as complementary, yet distinctly different, rather than imitations of one another or two segments of a single line. The melody becomes a conversation between two harmonizing entities who are sharing in the creation of something wholly new. The duet tapers off into an English horn solo over a harp line, bringing back the idyllic English countryside that we first saw young Maurice exploring in “Prologue – The Lesson.” In this final piece, Robbins adds on to this solo with the clarinet and flute before the melody spreads throughout the full orchestra and builds to a grandiose and rousing finale. I think the English horn solo is the part that breaks me every time because of its introduction in the very beginning of the story— through this understated melody, Robbins is assuring us that Maurice did stay true to himself, and he did find his happiness, though it may not be what Ducie or anyone else wanted for him. Maurice and Alec in the clarinet and flute, alongside the English horn, managed to find harmony in each other and peace in a life built on a love they shared, and nothing more.

hello lee :3 what r some of ur ocs like idk much abt them yet :00
yessss rai okay u read my mind lets go ily hehe >:-)
okay so ill talk abt my band ocs bc i have yet 2 do so and also i love them ^__^ and if u see similarities between them and mcr no u dont !
so theres like 5 of them, just these fucking dudes in a shitty little town in a shitty little band called wives and husbands. they're kind of known as like ''that local band'' and just play at rlly anything they can get, clubs or dumb venues anything yk yk. they have all the typical dreams of making it Big and Getting Out Of Here, and do they ever? who knows. if they do, they suck bc they never take anything seriously. theyve lied and messed with interviewers so bad that even they've forgotten some stuff. they love talking to people in the crowd and yelling back and forth with random people, but if a reporter comes in they like to play a game to see how much they can bullshit and how long it takes to get them to just give up. whoever gets the winning statement gets to pick a place to eat at that night. they have a few serious interviews tho, dw.
the lead singer is kai, he's this tiny little malewife guy w a dumb haircut and a bandana tied around his head, wears a lot of red, and has a big family. hes like. idk a middle child and loves his little siblings a lot, takes them out all the time. he always promises that if they make it big he'll take them to paris. he likes music like david bowie and probably has daddy issues, and sounds similar to think like.....kellin quinn or vic fuentes. when i first made him he would get rlly emotional while singing and often get too caught up in it and destroy instruments and it caused a lot of arguments between them bc gthat shit is expensive n idk if im gna stay w that, but i like the character development it cld lead to :-)
next is rei [pronounced ''ray'' i got her from some movie i watched w my sibling sorry it sounds like ur name tho sdlkfjs], she's kai's childhood friend, they live down the street from each other, she's the token weird girl love her. she plays rhythm guitar, and shes kind greasy and has a lot of shitty smudged makeup and her hair usually falls in her face and she probably has eaten anything you can find outside. she's kind of a menace playing guitar, jumps screams and rolls around a lot [think frank iero pro rev], but shes good. she kind of does backup vocals, but usually its just loud yelling. she lives w her dad and theyre okay. they have issues they dont talk abt but usually theyll just sit and watch movies together and not talk at all.
imani is their other friend met her when they were like 12 shes awsum <33 shes super tall like 6'7 and has big poofy hair that covers her eyes and big smile i love her :-(. she loves her friends too rei and kai are pretty short and she likes to lift them up or theyll hang off her arms and she wears platforms and all these cute boots so she's like even taller and she also wears a lot of pink, think sanrio :-). shes super nice, does actual backup vocals, and is the lead guitarist. i love drawing her hehe. her family has a little cafe that rei and kai always beg for free food [they usually get it], and her older brother usually hooks them up at venues and stuff.
okay and then alice my queen i love her. shes this tall goth girl with a spiky mullet and heavy freckles, she writes most of their songs and plays bass. she usually wears a leather jacket and big heavy boots, and she doesn't talk like at all. nothing personal they just doesnt have much to say. their voice is really monotone and kind of deep. her parents are big into church, whole family is, so they all look like this little 1920s family and its kinda weird. shes not really into it but goes to please her parents. she has two younger twin brothers that are just as weird. anyway, she met rei and kai through a job rei got and they kind of just harassed her until she said ugh fine. but she rlly does love them all hehe
okay last one this is so long imso sorry augh okay so now we have bear :-) their drummer :-) bear is also kind of quiet, but theyre more snarky and sarcastic, make a lot of snide comments but genuinely they are a nice person. they had bleached blondeish-white hair, and wear a lot of big boots, sweaters, and brown. they also have a van and since theyre the only one who even has a car theyre automatically the driver, and alice gets permanent shotgun bc theyre dating and if you take it bear will kick you. theyll sit anywhere they can and like exploring abandoned buildings

Kingdom ranking
My personal ranking of the groups on Kingdom now that I've (re)watched the performances from eps 2 and 3.
I am not very familiar with some of these groups, the one I know best is ATEEZ (I can name all the members and I like a few of their songs), while the one I know least is SF9 (literally all I know is they have 9 members and that one of them isn't performing because he's injured😭).
This got really long with my explanations so, long story short:
ATEEZ
Stray Kids
BTOB
The Boyz
SF9
IKON
1. ATEEZ
This level of stage production felt almost unfair to everyone else...seriously. I am a fan of Dvorak's Symphony no. 9 and it goes so well with ATEEZ's whole vibe...well it certainly goes with the pirate theme. HongJoong starting the performance brought the energy level to 12000 immediately. San looked so fierce...boy was screaming - and the pink hair looks fantastic. Yeosang being lifted by one of the backup dancers at one point...loved that. Jongho is the most intense vocalist in all of Kpop...the look he gets when he's singing is honestly scary. That high note of his was absolutely insane. They all had their moments and the eye contact they made with the camera was constant and intimidating. I loved hearing them struggle a bit with the (live!!) vocals from how hard they were dancing. The first time I saw ATEEZ perform I thought these kids were out to conquer the world, and that is the feeling I get every time I see them, Kingdom being no exception.
2. Stray Kids
Again, the stage production...hello? I loved Lee Know and Han's intro especially. Felix's makeup was sick. Their outfits and accessories in general were top notch. Shout out to the one backup dancer mirroring Bangchan, that is some intense core strength. I liked the sinister music during that part and how Bangchan slightly altered the melody of his line to fit it, very creepy. I wish the backing track had been lowered...I could hear some of them (especially Han, I.N. and Changbin) delivering strong vocals, but they were being overpowered by the track, which is a pity. The people ask for more Seungmin (he's really the one member that I felt we didn't see as much as the rest). But they REALLY came through with the energy, Han especially. In terms of stage presence and charisma I really do feel ATEEZ and them are in their own sphere.
3. BTOB
Ugh, the mics are ON! The VOCALS!! No one else on this show is singing live like THAT (but to be fair, they are not dancing like the others either...). The harmonies were seriously stunning. The instrumental of the song was beautiful, and so were their sets/props, they weren't kidding with the "Theater Ver.". Minhyuk's sword section was fun to watch and it brought a performance element that was much needed for BTOB. That being said it's really hard to rank them because even though their performance is phenomenal, it feels like they're not competing in the same sport as the others...I wouldn't be surprised if they finished last for that reason.
4. The Boyz
They had great energy and stage presence. Really nice (live!) vocals from some of the members! One of the members really stood out to me, I believe his name is Juyeon (?), he was the one who had that dance sequence with the backup dancers behing the stretchy fabric...I don't think I've ever seen it done like that, it was really cool. I assume he's a main dancer within the group, and his expressions were very solid throughout the performance. Overall, I thought the performance was creative and these boys really looked like they came to win.
5. SF9
The song was really freaking cool. I liked that they had mostly female backup dancers! The part where they lift them up on their shoulders was cool, and so was the solo part that followed, with one member (Chani?) and one of the backup dancers. I'm not sure the guy who danced the intro is, I think it's Taeyang? I hope it is because he's now my favorite. The performance overall was good and honestly hot but I didn't feel the same amount of energy from everyone and some of that lipsyncing really took me out of it :/.
6. IKON
First of all, I am biased towards those songs, I have listened to both Love Scenario and Killing Me an infinite amount of times, but I think it was my first time seeing either performed without B.I., which was very sad. I really enjoyed the beginning, with the jazzy feel, but I really don't think Love Scenario was the song for that peppy dance break...doesn't really fit the mood imo (if it wasn't for that I probably would have ranked them before SF9 tbh). However I really liked the mix on Killing Me. I feel like I didn't see the members shine equally though (did Song get any lines?) - that being said, this is something I only noticed because I am somewhat familiar with IKON...

I didn’t want to look away from the stream in order to liveblog my thoughts, so here are my notes of my major reactions, mostly in the order I jotted them down:
- Uhm hello this is the best Louis’ ever sounded??
- CAHN’T
- YES Drag Me Down!!
- Uhm I’m pretty sure we all sobbed through Two of Us? I’m broken.
- Every transition between songs: “Omg is this going into the new song?? ... Nope. Okay. That was beautiful, though.”
- Through the Dark. I was not expecting this song but OMG gorgeous vocals. Amazing.
- Instrumental break in Fearless: Yes band! Go on then 🎸
- Copy of a Copy of a Copy. Omg where can I buy this immediately?? Gorgeous. Epic. Beautiful. My heart.
- Me this whole livestream: OVERWHELMED.
- Always You - PRAISE! This song is my baby.
- CAHN’T again ❤
- The bluetooth on my headphones gave out for several seconds during Walls and I almost had a heart attack.
- “Still more songs” 😄
- I don’t even need to say that Only the Brave was a religious experience, do I? We all know.
- “Fuck!”
- The band laughing at “have a little drink for them.” 😂
- Ugh the visuals throughout this. The lighting. So good.
- All the fan vids on Kill My Mind were very cute 🥰
- Oh, I can immediately rewatch? DOING THAT.

'DEVIL' (Full Album) - ONEUS, Comeback Review
Tumblr media Tumblr media
01. Intro : Devil is in the detail
Hhhhdnnjd I love Seoho's and Keonhee's voices in this. It isn't my favorite ONEUS intro, but I still love it. Plus the "Ravn Spit Out Flame" is in this, which makes me happy. I was sad when it wasn't in the title.
02. 반박불가 (No diggity)⭐
It isn't my favorite ONEUS title track, but I do like it. This song gives me so much energy. Makes me want to fight someone. Or set something on fire. Or punch something. It makes me feel very strong and pumped up. I like it.
03. 식은 음식 (Leftover)
It's so fun! It reminds me of Dizzy! I already saw the choreo from Ontact (everyone should see it, it should still be on YouTube). It's such a cute song! I love Leedo's part in the first chorus, and the prechorus is pretty!
04. 완벽하지 않아도 괜찮아 (Incomplete)
Leedo vocals at the start 🥺... So goddamn pretty... Seoho's voice is so pretty... his and Hwanwoong's voice goes so well with it, Woong in the second verse especially... and Dongju at the start of the bridge... ughhh I started imagining a pretty choreo for this song
05. Youth
Dongju at the start?? Seoho really has such a pretty voice... and Hwanwoong... And Geonhak vocals 🥺 hello... And Keonhee and Youngjo... this song is so much prettier than I thought it was gonna be. The instrumentals are so pretty! I love the music so much
06. 뿌셔 (Bbusyeo)
07. 우리의 시간은 거꾸로 흐른다 (Rewind)
Leedo starts it off... oh gosh, Ravn's rap with the music is so calming, and then Seoho's vocals. Keonhee's voice in the prechorus--already fell in love with it in the Highlight Medley. The music gives me a weird, almost nostalgic vibe. Sounds like... all the pretty songs from the early 2010s. Please, the little bit of Dongju was nice, he needs more lines. 😭 And the one time Seoho harmonized with Youngjo a bit. 🥺
08. Lion Heart
Ooo, not my usual type but I did like it. Maybe it'll grow on me more in the future. I love the music, the chorus is cool. The second verse, which we heard from the Highlight Medley is so cool sounding!
09. What You Doing?
~Cosmic~ Anyway, Hwanwoong and Seoho at the start stole my heart. The chorus with Keonhee's voice is very charming! I love it! And Ravn did so well! Fits well. I didn't think I'd love the song, but I like it more than I thought I would!
10. 눈부시게 빛이 나더니 그 날 (I.P.U) ⭐
Ugh, the vocals are so pretty. Seoho and Keonhee especially for me in this song. And Ravn's rap. And Leedo's vocals!!! Oh my gosh! 🥺 Seoho has such a pretty voice! And Dongju's part was small but oh so pretty! Again, Seoho has a gorgeous, soulful, pretty voice!
11. Outro : Connect with US
It's so short but I love it so much 😭 It's so pretty, I wish it was longer
Final Thoughts - ∞/10
All four members of the vocal line thoroughly wrecked me with their vocals. Seoho hasn't been this high on my bias list since Lit, and Hwanwoong since maybe Twilight. Seoho really has such a pretty voice... and Keonhee... his voice works so well... also I had no idea how much I liked Dongju's voice paired with Youngjo's. The songs that ended up being my favorites, I already knew they would be from the Highlight Medley. However, I liked every single song more than I thought I would.

GOT7: Jinyoung
I haven’t written in a while. I actually  have a list of things to write about, and this isn’t actually part of it, but hey, I gotta do what I gotta do. I’ve just been watching fan-made Youtube videos about JY, and I just can’t help but take this chance to write about my GOT7 bias.
Jinyoung is an absolute cutie pie!!
Tumblr media
OMG just look at him. An absolute cutie. :( His smile is so adorable.
To be honest, I first watched him in He Is Psychometric. I didn’t know he was part of GOT7 (I’ve just heard of the group, but I didn’t actually know anything about them). He had a pretty cute and fun character there, especially because I really liked the special power concept of the show, but that was about it.
My admiration for him grew big when I saw him with GOT7. I think I first saw one of their interviews in America. Suddenly, I viewed him as the super adorable human being he actually is and immediately stanned him hard.
TALENT
I will repeatedly say it on this blog: I’m a big fan of multi-talented people, especially those with adorable visuals. Jinyoung is one of them! Obviously, he can act - aside from He Is Psychometric, he’s done a bunch of other roles in dramas. Being a member of GOT7, he can dance well. To add to that, he has such an angelic voice. I don’t usually expect much from kpop sub-vocals + visuals, but Jinyoung, he can really sing!!! I like his voice!
I’ve recently started learning classical guitar. Yesterday, I found out he also plays the guitar well, even while singing. Just a few seconds, I saw a clip of him playing a classical guitar piece. He can also play the piano! (Ugh the connection to me stirs my heart, lol) I’m a sucker for those who can play instruments, if you still haven’t noticed.
INTELLIGENCE
Not only am I a fan of multi-talented people, I am also a big fan of smart people. Surprise, surprise, Jinyoung is also one of those. I just learned that today. I’ve always found book nerds cool. Aside from that, I saw that in Escape Rooms, he’s usually the problem-solver of the group.
I think he picks things up quickly. Even though he didn’t grow up speaking English, he’s learned English so well he almost sounds like a native speaker sometimes! Of course there are still some grammatical errors and accent slips here and there, but his English sounds so fluid!
PERSONALITY
I’ve been talking about his skills and talents, but what really got my heart is his lovely personality.
When I first watched him in American interviews, I thought he was pretty quiet (even though he speaks English so well). Not too quiet, but he’s just not as talkative/noisy as the others (Jackson, Bambam, Youngjae, Yugyeom, etc). I found it kinda adorable considering his role in He Is Psychometric is a little different. Then I saw other fan-made videos and learned he is actually called Savage King! I even saw a clips of him mocking JYP (the OG Park Jinyoung) right in his face (Knowing Brothers)! He’s funny and has no filter. I love his relationship with the members. They’re hilarious.
As Mother to GOT7
Jinyoung can get savage, but his truest personality is this soft, loving, human being. He is like the mother of GOT7 because he takes care of the members all the time. He supports them when they’re sick, gives them what they need even if they haven’t asked yet. I especially love his relationship with JB. The parents of GOT7 - ah they are my top 2 people in the group. JB, as the super reliable leader of the group, also relies on Jinyoung as his partner in taking care of their GOT7 children. When JB is not present or is having a hard time, Jinyoung is there to take the lead, especially in bringing back order when GOT7 gets chaotic (as they usually do).
Everything he does is adorable to me now. :(
How do I reach the Jinyoung level? Sigh. Hello, Jinyoung, I’m also in the ‘94 Line.
To end this post, I’m going to bless you with Jinyoung in a rugged-look.

folklore reactions
the 1: i totally called the tone of this album. I also love how all the album is in lowercase. this is such a sweet song! melancholy but beautiful. however, joe???? is she good? are they good? um hello I need to do some research about who this is about bc its beautiful but also sad. God I love Taylor Swift. She truly is the greatest songwriter of this century.
cardigan: I’m really excited about this one tbh. nice into? YESS LANA VIBES. dark edgy rep mood and im here. how is this album already better than lover? also is she okay again? like i need to know about my girl. if this album doesnt win a grammy im going to riot. I love how poetic this album is. I didn’t really understand the black and white but I think I understand it now.
the last great american dynasty: from the title im hoping also lana vibes but lets see. okay halsey 929 vibes in the beginning.  love the storytelling. I love this album so far. is this about the kennedys? is this about her past relationships? wait it totally is! marvelous? rhode island? or wait this is tiwwchnt? is this a reflection on her friendships? i’m so curious. Love the background instrumentals. wait no i’m wrong this is about her house? or the lucky one? i too had a marvelous time ruining everything also this is a mood
exile: I’m not the biggest fan of bon iver so i’m not too excited about this one, but i’m open to it, I guess. This is very The Last Time of her and I love that song so. oh no sad again. you were my crown now im in exile! no no please taylor be happy im going to straight up cry. I really hope she’s doing okay, but this song is beautiful. okay some quick research and taylor and joe are still together and apparantly he wrote things which makes sense
my tears ricochet: very its nice to have a friend of her. okay i def hear the jack antonoff in this song. another sad song. :(  Wait yes here comes the orchestra why is this speak now x 1989? im here for this part of the song for sure.  florence inspo for sure.
mirrorball: wait this is very fearless era is it not lmao? like the vocals are floaty and seem younger. okay this is sweet. yes begin again vibes I love it!!! yes empowerment and happiness!!!!! this is my favorite so far. This is what Me! wishes it was. hush! this is so relaxing. tbh i did think she said “im still on my toilet” instead of “tallest” so lets see if anyone else makes this mistake.  wait THIS IS THE LUCKY ONE PART 2. beautiful 10/10
seven: this is about the lover album going to call it. okay why does this literally not sound like her at all? wait im so wrong. like this is fairies in the field and she sounds like an irish folk singer from the 90s. this is cute. cottagecore lesbians on tiktok are going to use this sound for sure lmao. who does she sound like? ok i am not a fan of this song just going to put that out here now its kinda boring.
august: if theres not an upbeat song on this album i will freak out. ugh another slow song. wait this is happy! yay! very beautiful kiss for him. why do i get like past romance vibes from this? (tom????) we love yearning. cruel summer who?also fearless vibes from this too.
this is me trying: based on the title im worried again? i almost do who???? I got wasted like all my potential ugh mood. why can’t she have the album booklet secret sentences again i sure hope she does omg. call it what you want also.
ilicit affairs: now this has got to be about the getaway car triangle. can i be right about one thing. yearning again, but nice this time too. HIM! this is very red era and I don’t know how to feel about it. treacherous inspired this for sure. okay this is my favorite because its lowkey a diss track. dear john vibes also!
invisible string: never grow up vibes. however, I still need to know if taylor is okay like genuinely because i’m scared lmao. I hate it when people are sad esp her and like her albums define my life a bit so if shes sad im sad? bad blood lmao. aww time heals everything, this is so cute i sure hope shes happy. we love a self referencing queen.
mad woman: the man part 2? oooh swear words. is this about k*nye? is this about k*m? wanting me dead has really brought you too together? who else? ive got to find some fan theories omg
epiphany: the 1975 vibes? i swear if this is instrumental.. okay why does this sound like a small british child singing in choir. its really beautiful though, no insult meant I just don’t really listen to music like this ever. its not really my aesthetic but I can appreciate it.
betty: my friend freaked out about this song so from her reaction its got to be either confirmation of Kaylor/taylor being gay, the song is some weird genre thats not taylor, shes pregnant, or just really deep lyrics that hit differently? lets see. wait COUNTRY TIME? YO. oh no what did she did to betty? wait i feel uncomf. whats abigails opinion on this i need to know, were they friends? yikes friend breakup i’ve been there. is this from someone else’s perspective i gotta know. yay she goes to the party!!! wait what cardigan? whats happening im so ??
peace: interesting......this is beachy I love it? its nice to have a friend vibes again. she sounds like.. not herself? this is so different from everything she’s done before I need to sit with it and listen to it before i understand. clowns to the west. her voice sounds so beautiful here and so mature? i honestly was ready for this era after rep but not right now? idk how I feel about it.
hoax: not s single upbeat song :(((((. faithless love??? not cute. is she going to perform any of these live i cant really imagine it. new york? aw no she’s sad my baby girl. hmm. don’t like this one. the vibes are great but I just dont like them.

i watched the heathers on riverdale episode and listened to the soundtrack on spotify and i have a lot of things to say
FIRST OF ALL @ riverdale fandom dont freaking attack me for saying these. just being frank with yall
also the only actors whose names i know of are kj apa, cole sprouse, lili reinhart, camila mendes, and casey cott
BEAUTIFUL
- CASEY COTT,,,,he saved this song he should’ve just sang it alone - they made it so PG they didnt even include the fREAK SLUT CRIPPLE HOMO HOMO HOMO - okay camila sounded okay - kj apa,,,honey youre cute but pls stop singing - josie can sing but like,,,not for musicals - can everyone pls get the emotions right in this song thEYRE LITERALLY SINGING ABOUT HOW HIGH SCHOOL FREAKING SUCKS AND THEYRE ALL "just not today! :D" or "just not today *seductive wink*" - the autotune in lili's verse knjkACN - cole's voice is so deep he sounds like he wants to die - "why do i act like such a creep" whoever sang that im sorry but youre terribly fla t - so many wasted harmonies - "aHhh HEAther hEAther aNd hEATher" why falsetto - "lets make her beautiful" rip harmonies "okAY? okay?" rip falsetto uGh - cheryl can sing but i dont know something's wrong,,, probably autotune - "you hope you dream you pray ANd you GEt yoUR wAY" autotune count: ive lost count - The riverdale producers giving casey cott the high veronica notes is one of the few things they got right in this episode
CANDY STORE - heathers 101 lyrics knAKJCNJA i want to die - they can say biotch but not dick huh - the orchestration's weird,,,but okay - GO PLAY DUCK DUCK GOOSE - ICE CREAM - the first verse was okay then autotuned kicked in - the verses are pretty okay - i want more emotion pls just,,, sound bitchier - "SEE YOU DONT HAVE IT WATCH THIS" HACKNASCKJA IM CACKLING - rip harmonies in 2nd chorus,,,,those were great but they probably didnt find a person who can do the crazy mcnamara notes huh - DOORKNOB - cheryl youre struggling with the bridge - "kEEP ON TESTING ME *lower octave* and end up like her" oof whERE ARE THE HIGH MCNAMARA NOTES - i didnt understand the chandler riff what was that about - rip harmonies aGAIN this song had a lOT of amazing harmonies and they,,,threw it away
FIGHT FOR ME - josie honey youre terribly autotuned - kj apa kjnSCJNKANCKJA why - everything's so autotuned i dont even know what's real and what's not - i kinda like the end harmonies,,that's it tho
BIG FUN - okay orchestration's great - again with the heathers 101 lyrics jNCKSNAJC dont do heathers if you arent bold enough to curse on tv - rip harmonies,,,,,,,,,nobody did like the high notes jesus christ - convenient that they have a character named "Veronica" in the show - i dont know if thats camila's real voice but it did sound nice,,,however, i still believe it's autotUNED - once again, they gave casey cott the high veronica notes "i FEEL LIKE BONO AT LIVE AID" - "take a picTURE I'LL NEED PROOF" who the hell said that he sounded so monotone and emotionless like he forgot at the last minute he had to say a line - awkward silence for the part "i broUGHT SPARKLING CIDER :D" - no context "danG DANG DIGGITY DANG DANG" hAJKCSJNAC me initimidating my enemies - once again, akward silence for the dialogues - dang dang diggity dang dang everything's so autotuned - thE INSTRUMENTAL'S SO LOUD probably to mask the fact that most of the cast werent *cough* vocally trained
DEAD GIRL WALKING - what THE HELL IS UP WITH THAT TINY HARP SOUND AT THE INTRO OF DGW ANKCSJACI CHOKED - a u t o t u n e d  girl walking - the instrumental got better - i see they went with like pianos and shit and not mostly electric guitar for the guitar solo riffs - "ALL HOPE IS GONE IM A DEAD GIRL WALKING IM ON YOUR LAWN" gurl,,,youre in school,,,and there is no window lock,,,,,,, - heATHERS 101 lYRICS KASNKCJANSCKA - "had to see yOU HOPE I DIDNT WAKE YOU" bitch youre all awake in school - i cant listen to this song anymore without hearing the weird hair swishes and sound effects - "that works for me" yall monotone as hELL like yall dont wanna have intense sex just,,,okay sex - "hoWD YOU FIND MY ADDRESS" none of the lyrics make sense bc uhm,,,,theyRE IN SCHOOL - "i think you tore my mattress" gurl is chill as hell where is the concern over the mattress AHAHFANKCC - at least the guy sounded a bit hornier than the other girl - goodbye intense barrett notes - AHAHAHHAA they yeeted away from the G#5 - it's just like G#4??? - the other girl doesnt sound shes enjoying the sex huh - the guy who did the jd riff at the end,,,,hMMM pretty good but is it auTOTUNED??? the question remains - i can tell the whole song's like,,,autotuned but if just a little bit, toni sounded actually great
OUR LOVE IS GOD - the cult girl is not showing any emotion,,,,she's like reciting the lyrics hDJCKAJ - casey cott sounds great but autotuned ruined his voice - harmonies sound great actually - the instrumental is inTENSELY loud as HELL again - "they die becauSE THEY SAY THEY MUST" no context bc jD did not kill anyone in this scene - the ending harmonies were great
SEVENTEEN - fuck me i liked this the first time i heard it - im biased probably bc i love seventeen knKSCAJ - intro instrumental sounded a bit off key - cole pls dont sound dead - lili sounds great - SEVANTEEN - cole redeemed himself in the harmony chorus - is this shit autotuned???? bitch - SEvANTEEN (Cole Sprouse, 2019) - okay one thing's for sure, the tonight part is dEFINITELY AuTOTUnED - the toni girl is intensely autotuned wtf
LIFEBOAT - WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS INSTRUMENTAL - IT SOUNDS LIKE A NEW SONG LIKE LIFEBOAT WHO?? - I HATE IT - camila you dont sound oppressed - where's the emotion,,,,,elle mclemore who???? - i think the high notes are autotuned???????????????? whats new - I THOUGHT I WAS CAPTAIN - okay lyric change to fit the plot but,,,weird nonetheless - again,,,fuck this instrumental
SEVENTEEN REPRISE - in the episode, it looks weird as hell bc like random cast members are singing it when VERONICA and MARTHA should be singing it - hello??? chandler kurt and ram should be dead yet theyre still on stage???? fully clothed??? singing with everyone else????? - the producers DID NOT watch the musical - "martha are you free tonight?" - the girl playing veronica sawyer sings as she stares out into the audience and not at martha bc riverdale isnt about to cast a fat girl and give a fat girl some screentime on their show - KJ APA PLS - also cheryl,,,pls - a u t o tu n e - the song doesnt make any sense anymore bc it's taken out of context to fit the plot,,, - theyre all singing to an invisible martha - at least the harmonies sound decent fiNALLY - hello head voice - "TAKE oFF OUR SHOES AND DANCe" - the ending "BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL" i could not hear the girls bc they were all. singing. in. head. voice. or was it falsetto??? - im so done with this
OVERALL - what's the point of doing a heathers episode if yall aint gonna stick to the musical - i get that it has to be aligned with the show's plot but,,,,okay you do you - the people playing JD and Veronica were totally ignored bc like some songs meant for them werent even sung by them lmaooOOOO what is this - to summarize: AUTOTUNE - heathers kidz bop version by riverdale (2019) - im honestly just thirsty for new heathers content so i forced myself to live through this - costumes look cute tho - ALSO in their heathers promo poster, josie is wearing her veronica sawyer costume,,,,i dont recall seeing her wear that except for the last scene in seventeen (reprise) - basically seventeen (reprise) was a mess,,, - im judging them so much as if i can do better,,,,,,,,but whatever
IN CONCLUSION - they shouldve learned from their carie episode that musical episodes arent meant for riverdale - at this point, i dont even know what's autotuned and what's real
