How Do I Do Stuff
The question was phrased a little strangely, and I don't want to embarrass the person by posting exactly what was said, but I'll answer it and hope this clears everything up.
I do almost all of my drawing by hand. No, I don't trace in Photoshop. Not a judgment on those who do, but I come from a generation of artists who did not use Poser programs or other digital tools. We learned to draw using a technique called the Sight Size method. I know a lot of people assume everyone - including the old masters - traced everything using optical tools, but while it is true some people did, it is just as true that most didn't, and you can draw with great accuracy if you learned how to draw the old fashioned way.
Sight Size breaks everything down into its barest components of geometric shapes and you build from there. Once you learn it, you never forget, and it applies to everything you will ever draw.
I learned it using a set of Famous Artist Course books my mom had since she was a kid, and they are still the gold standard. They're often on ebay. If I were you, I'd buy them.
Tumblr media
I actually find using figure reference really annoying because I like exaggerations and modifications from reality in my final work.
This page from Neil Gaiman's Chivalry was drawn and painted without figure reference of any kind.
Tumblr media
I don't know why people assume I trace all the time. If you were to try to use photographs to replicate these figures, you would find they are slightly off. There is no tracing here.
This is not to say I never use reference. This page, for example, was referenced from a photo of my mother. Isn't she pretty.
Tumblr media
But this page of Sir Galaad was drawn and painted without reference.
Tumblr media
He's pretty, too.
If he were real, I'm sure a lot of people would be very happy about it. But he's not. And had I reference, the art would have gone a lot faster. I had a time trying to nail this face that is very alive in my head but doesn't really exist.
Back in the ancient days, all cartoonists had to learn to draw and paint extemporaneously because reference was limited and digital tools didn't exist. While some high end artists had photography studios and professional models with costume and sets on hand, small fry like me were limited to what was in the house or available at my small local library, which was no bigger than a few rooms of my current house.
Artists kept extensive "morgue files" or "swipe files" which were collected from magazine clippings and photographs so we would have as much of what we might need on hand for quick reference. These ephemera collections could get unwieldy. I have thousands of photographs I've simply never sorted. I finally dumped most of my files this past year.
Have I ever traced anything? Of course, especially if I have to re-use a shot or setting over and over. Making extra work for myself is just silly. It's my job to make pictures, not to perform magical feats, like copying one shot after another over and over without making a mistake.
However, for almost 15 years of my career, I refused to copy or trace anything, and did not even own a lightbox. On the one hand, that forced me to learn to carefully examine what I saw. On the other hand, it was a stupid hill on which many deadlines died.
Only after I realized many professional artists had lightboxes and overhead projectors did I finally break down and get one.
The one thing I use my lightbox for more than anything is for tracing my thumbnail sketches to the final drawing paper. Instead of trying to capture the liveliness of the original sketch by copying what I see - only bigger - I blow the thumbnail up to the size I want the final art to be, then I trace over the thumbnail using a lightbox onto the final drawing paper.
Here's a look at thumbnails from the graphic novel Neil Gaiman's Snow, Glass, Apples.
Tumblr media
I enlarged these on my computer to fit onto 11"x14" paper, and traced the thumbs before finishing the art which was drawn in pen and ink and colored in Photoshop.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While I obviously made some changes, the essence of the thumbs is there in the final work. Tracing my thumbs retains some of the looseness of the original sketches, which is often lost otherwise.
So, there is a valid purpose to tracing at times, though in my opinion, too much tracing can weaken drawing ability, substitute for developing skills, and make the work kind of stiff.
If you want to, I'm not your judge. But it's weird to me that people think I must be faking my skills in some way.
Ironically, the word cartoon comes from the Italian word cartone, which is a large heavy sheet of paper - also, the origin of the word carton.
Preparatory sketches were made on this paper which was then transferred to the final work surface via either tracing or by stamping little holes in the paper through which dust was sprinkled, recreating the contours of the drawing for the artist to follow.
So the origin of the word cartoon comes from a process often used...for tracing.

Vash
He was absolutely scared out of his mind when he first saw the ink appear on his skin. He even went as far as to try to scrub his skin raw, and the ink was still fresh as ever. Poor blondie is wondering how the hell something like this is happening.
Meanwhile, you’re doodling like there’s no tomorrow with your ballpoint pen, tracing the outlines of your veins and doodling smiling faces.
Over time, Vash learns to just accept the random appearance and disappearance of drawings across his body. At the end of the day, it’s like a fun little game to see what’s been sketched on him underneath his turtle neck.
It takes a while for Vash to realize that it’s his soulmate doodles appearing on his skin. Warmth floods his heart each time he thinks of this, causing him to lovely trace the marks across his own skin.
He would laugh sometimes at the sudden ink smear appearing on his skin before new sketch marks appeared, your work hypnotizing him. He especially loved when you used different colors, almost painting his skin like a canvas. Eventually, he makes the move to respond.
So imagine your surprise when you find a poorly drawn flower appear on your skin. Ensue the same panic Vash experienced when you remembered you didn’t draw that.
Tumblr media
Wolfwood
Scrubbing his skin did nothing. Seeing the scripture on his forearm made him wonder if he had perhaps gotten too drunk the night before and had gotten a tattoo.
The fancy calligraphy was choice, especially with that proverb. For the lips of the adulterous woman drop honey, and her speech is smoother than oil. Wolfwood decided that there could be worse things etched into his skin from that old religion.
You, on the other hand, were giggling to yourself. Oh, the irony of something appearing to beautiful but naughty. A snort escapes from one of your nearby friends.
He didn’t put anymore thought into it until the next day when the ink disappeared. Lowkey, thought he was super dehydrated for him to imagine that, but nope, even after drinking tons of water, the ink was no longer on his skin.
Cue some praying. He nearly has a heart attack when more ink appears on his skin. He has to go back to the orphanage and ask the elders for help on understanding the situation. Turns out it’s a soulmate thing, one which they didn’t even bother to mention until now.
Overtime, he appreciates the calligraphy he appears on his skin, particularly when new motifs appear. Wolfwood liked seeing you test new things and watch as the ink appear on his skin.
However, he was very glad to wear long sleeves when you would write down a particularly dirty proverb like 5:19. He would always end up blushing a bright red like a tomato, a huge contrast to his normal, stoic personality.
Imagine, your surprise when you notice fresh ink on your skin. For your ways are in the full view of the LORD in basic script.
Tumblr media
Knives
He almost didn’t see the script appear on his arms, the ink nearly blending into his suit and pale skin. His fingers traced the letters he could make out. Knives immediately knew what this meant, it was his soulmate reaching out- most likely not knowing what was happening.
He tried to ignore it the best he could and kept himself covered with his cloak. Having someone would just drag him down, make it harder to reach his goal of eradicating humanity. However, his curiosity got the best of him.
Taking another look, the bleach blond quickly recognized the letters as chords with their denoted accidentals. Luckily for him, he new how to play. It was child’s play, really.
Meanwhile, your trying to understand how to play different songs only by listening too them. You were too stubborn to look them up, very confident in your ability.
And so it became a pattern for him to decipher your song you had written on his arm. He would spend hours playing the piano, watching the notes on his arm be crossed out and replaced. The composition rarely stayed imprinted on his skin for longer than a day.
Often, Knives would see lyrics being written with the chords. A little artist are we now? His small joke to himself caused a small smile. He would end up humming them, his low voice cutting through the air. It was for the sake of rhythm, he told himself.
Imagine your surprise when you saw a new. mark you knew you hadn’t inscribed into your skin, a word marked out for another.

Nagito Color Study | Please do not repost, reblogs are welcome though! Brushes & Techniques & a progress pic below the cut
Uhhhh okay, how to explain this one. I was rereading “Logically Lucky” by PinkSweetSmoke and some of the visuals in the earlier chapters really struck me. The way that they write this relationship is pretty dynamic, and I wanted to see if I could use colors to talk about how Hajime and Nagito feel for each other and what they’re going through emotionally? So this is fanart for that fic, directly inspired by that fic based on the established vista(s) and also the style of writing their relationship, but it doesn’t really make sense unless I say all of that lol? But it wouldn’t exist if not for that fic, so I’d feel weird not mentioning it.
Brushes used (Clip Studio, Free):
Main: “ラフペン” from gyuukotu’s “Fill Set (塗りセット)”, content ID 1695210 Fill: Default India Ink brush pen - the rough pen is a little unpredictable, so I used this to flat the image and make sure that there were no gaps Cloud Flat: "荒筆" from gyuutoku's “Fill Set (塗りセット)”, content ID 1695210 Cloud Blender: I downloaded it from the internet instead of the app 2 years ago and cannot find, with certainty, where it came from, since I get rid of everything on my hard drive that's not art every year :( there are lots of good cloud blending brushes out there for free, though, and I typically use the gouache blender Misc. Techniques: Screen Distortion: I used CSP's free cloth texture clipped above the "blue" layers and then liquified it in places for the screen distortion effect Gradient Mapping: I cannot overstate how helpful gradient maps were for minor color corrections, you guys PLEASE try them on a finished piece of your own if you haven't used them yet. Click Layers > New Correction Layer > Gradient Map and then choose from the premade gradients before adding your own so you can see how they worked. I used a few different ones clipped to specific areas w/ lowered opacity & hard/soft light settings where I felt like the color was falling flat and it was SO helpful at giving it just that little bit more depth. Hearts: I've discovered that you can cheat at hair and clothing rendering by just making hearts. Try and see how many you can find lol Color Theory in General: The whole point of this piece, after it stopped being fanart (lol rip), was to be a color study focusing on the contrast between shadow and light and what I could do within the blues & the yellows to make them appear as if they're actually different colors. In the blue section, everything is p much blue, nothing is any other color. In the sunny section, a lot of the stuff is warmer variations of the standard colors, since I wanted it to be more vibrant and didn't feel like I could achieve that if everything was shades of yellow and orange. That being said, I stuck as closely to that as possible. But ANYWAY, juxtaposing the two starkly different color profiles also helps the blues in the blue side read as colors that they aren't, which was part of why I did this study. Sneaky sneaky: I just modified the diner a bit in order to get the colors I wanted, i.e closing the blinds bc I can. As an artist it's important to remember that YOU have full control over every single part of the piece, you just should ideally have a reason to create inaccuracies/ break rules or else it can end up being a bit messy and disorganized & details/ your vision can get lost.
Aaaand finally, the sketch from TWO AND A HALF MONTHS AGO:

here's that other AU I've put way more into - the "Uncle Cally AU", where Cal was instead taken in by one Aquato Family Circus! This one is admittedly the brainchild of @friendlyfrankenstein, I just happened to take the ball and run... and run... and run.......
don't think this doodle dump is the start and end, though! There's a lot more coming up in the queue soon...
(alt text/image IDs under the cut!)
[Image 1 ID: A character design sheet for "Caligosto Aquato", an alternate version of Loboto who joined the Loboto Family Circus. He is wearing goggles similar to Raz's and has a full head of hair, with shaggy bangs and a light green kerchief patterned with yellow flowers. He has on a high-collared shawl cape with several safety pins and patches, over a navy-blue and white-striped Aquato family unitard and brown, puffy short-shorts with a deep red cummerbund. There are two patches on the torso of his unitard. His right arm has an elbow-length brown sleeve on his forearm with several patches and safety pins, while the left hand just has a red band around his wrist. He is wearing navy blue fingerless gloves on both hands, as well as knee-high, laced navy blue boots. There is a small knee guard on his left knee, while his left thing has a scrap of fabric tied around it, the same color and pattern as his kerchief. A detail shot shows him pushing up his goggles, revealing his green-and-red heterochromia and dark circles around his eyes. Off to the side is a design for his "Doctor Loboto" guise, wearing a simple surgical mask that covers his face, his canon-compliant shower cap, an oversized powder-blue button up, a apron over that with complex buckles in the back similar to canon, greenish surgical gloves, and the same blue boots as his "circus" design.]
[Image 2 ID: A rough sketch design for Cally's caravan. It is shaped like a carriage, with a swooped roof with a decorated lantern hanging off of it. There is a big window in the back, posters taped to the sides, and a hatch on the roof on the other side through which Cally is peeking out. There is an accordion-shaped, slightly curving tower emerging from the curved part of the roof, with a pipe weaving through and emitting a small cloud of smoke where it ends. The top of the "tower" has another, smaller window, in which Raz can be seen reading a comic and peeking outside. There is another, smaller lantern dangling from the tower, as well as what looks like a radio antennae at the very top.]
[Image 3 ID: A traditional ink doodle-page with various sketches of Loboto and other Psychonauts characters. At the center is a drawing of Uncle Cally and Augustus standing side by side. Cally is wearing large earrings and a shawl with a hood, a puffy-sleeved blouse, fabric tied around his waist like a skirt, and his usual striped tights and heeled boots. Augustus has a shawl wrapped around his neck and shoulders like a scarf, is wearing a baggy shirt with large, dangling sleeves, has a sash tied around his waist like a belt, and has his usual shorts, striped tights and boots.]
[Image 4-5 IDs: Various rough gestural sketches of Cally doing stretches, contortions and circus tricks. The first image is done digitally, while the second is traditional pen on a lavender post-it note. In one of the digital poses, a sketchy Raz can be seen balancing on top of one of Cally's feet.]
[Image 6 ID: A single-panel comic of a younger Cally and Augustus stretching. Cally is leaning against a wall with one hand, grabbing the ankle of his bent leg with the other, grinning and saying, "So is 'mooning over letters from Donatella' going in the act or something". Augustus, next to him in a deep lunge, holding a paper in one hand, blushing and glaring, retorts "Don't get on my case just because *you* don't like girls." Cally replies in turn, "You're just jealous the new strongman asked me out first".]
[Image 7 ID: A sketchy five-panel comic of Cally and the Aquato kids. In the first panel, Cally is squatting to secure a pulley on the ground, looking over at a young Raz in his circus outfit, who is staring at him. In the second, Mirtala runs by as he picks up his tools, tripping on a rock, causing a frantic Cally to catch her with a telekinetic hand; while he does, Raz is tugging on his arm, trying to get his attention. In the next panel he is bent over to pick up Mirtala, providing an opening for Frazie to spring up onto his shoulders, while Raz hangs around his legs yelling. In the next panel, Frazie is hanging off his back, sticking her tongue out at Raz, who climbs up Cally's leg pointing and shouting at Frazie, all while Mirtala fidgets in Cally's hold and Dion, shouting and holding a crying baby Queepie at arm's length, appears to the side. Cally, looking overwhelmed, screams "AUGUSTUS". The final panel shows Cally handing Mirtala over to an exhausted-looking Donatella, shouting "STOP HAVING KIDS". Augustus, standing next to Donna holding a sleeping Queepie in his arms, grins cheekily and retorts "But they're just so much fun to make".]
[Image 8 ID: A single-panel comic of Donatella and Cally. Cally is grinning, holding a terrified child upside-down by the ankles, using telekinesis to hold his arms and head in place, money falling to the ground out of his pockets. Donatella is in front of the kid, pointing and shouting, "YOU TRY TO SNEAK IN FREE, LITTLE PUNK?? THINK IT'S FUNNY DESTROYING SMALL FAMILY CIRCUS?! THAT YOU WILL ESCAPE CONSEQUENCES??" Augustus, in the background, looks on in horror.]
[Image 9 ID: Cally in the far foreground, motion-blurred and looking utterly terrified, running from Donatella in the background, who has skidded into frame in a wide stance, eyes glowing red.]
[Image 10-12 IDs: A three-panel comic of Cally, Oleander, and the Aquatos. Cally and Oleander are sitting side-by-side on a log, working on a rope-and-pulley system. Mirtala and Frazie walk in from the right side of the screen, Mirtala looking delighted and shouting, "It's Uncle Oly!! Uncle Oly's visiting!!" Oleander looks mildly surprised, while Cally looks extremely flustered. In the next panel, he catches Mirtala by the head with one hand, saying, "Woah woah *woah*-- Tala. Who told you to call him that??" Frazie, walking past behind him with a smug grin, responds, "Mom said we might as well get used to saying it sooner rather than later." In the last panel, a blushing and furious Cally says "Did she now," as he whirls around to look at Donatella, who looks incredibly smug as she stands with Queepie dangling from her hands by his arms. Off to the side, Oleander looks down in flustered confusion as Mirtala holds her arms up and shouts "UNCLE OLY UNCLE OLY WATCH MY NEW TRICK".]
[Image 13 ID: A drawing of Raz, Augustus, and Cally in the postgame of Psychonauts 2, at the cliff by the falls. Augustus is standing, staring out at the falls, with a hand on the back of Raz at his left, staring slightly up at him, and Cally to his right, sitting with his legs crossed, one arm propping him up, and the other up around his brother's back.]

Sketches of the life series winners I may or may not end up inking. They started as practice figures and ended up as… brainrot and worldbuilding? Shows how my poor brain works.
Starting at the top and going down, we start with Grian, Saint of the Desert Sun, first canonized Saint of the Church of the Watchers. As told in the Third Book, he fought in the Red Winter War against the Red King. He was betrayed, temporarily fell to the sins of revenge and wrath, before regaining his virtue and besting Scar of the Desert and martyring himself on the sand. Stigmata associated with him is blood-like coloration on the hands and especially under the fingernails.
Scott Major, Saint of the Endless Stars, was the second canonized Saint. As told in the Last Book, he survived strife and turmoil among the many factions of the Four Directions before martyring himself on his own sword. Stigmata associated with him is blood-like coloration on the chest or around the head.
Pearl Moon, Saint of the Shadowed Moon, was the third canonized Saint. As told in the Double Book, she wallowed in the sins of jealousy and violence before she was reunited with her Soulmate and was martyred by an explosion. Stigmata associated with her are lines around the wrists or marks that resemble fire or frostbite scars.
Martyn Littlewood, Saint of the Stained Planet, was the fourth canonized Saint. As told in the Book of Time, he was a loyal friend to his ally before descending into the sins of pride and wrath. He killed his ally and was martyred by a strike of lightning. Stigmata associated with him are crooked lines on the skin that resemble either lightning scars or branching coral.
Scar Goodtimes, Saint of the Blooming Planet, was the fifth canonized Saint. As told in the Book of Secrets, he was a lonely and friendless man who quickly fell to the sins of trickery and destruction. Despite this, he survived through these immoral ways and eventually slew the good Pearl of the Mounds. He did not martyr himself, instead turning his back to the Secret Keeper and declaring himself his own man. Stigmata associated with him are marks on the hands resembling ink stains from writing, or splotches resembling blooming flowers.

What do you think of AI stuff like DAll-E or Midjourney?
It's not as useful as some people want you to believe. A lot of people pushing for the acceptance of this kind of software are the same tech bros that invested in crypto currency and were trying to sell you NFTs, which should tell you enough.
All of this "it's democratizing art!" and "finally, people can make art even if they don't have natural talent!" is snake oil.
You know where my "natural talent" came from? I started drawing when I was 4 or 5 years old. I drew at least one thing per day for over 20 years. I earned the ability to crank out dumb doodles on a whim.
Tumblr media
You can't just show up one day and think you deserve to make artwork without putting in the work to learn and get good at it. Art's importance comes from the length of time needed to learn to master it. And I don't just mean drawings, I mean music, film, food, everything. No matter what it is, effort is value.
Financial value, sentimental value, it doesn't matter. All value is derived from the effort required to make it.
If you can just push a button and churn out artwork en masse, that devalues the importance of art. I mentioned this back with the Martin Scorsese ask, but it's like, which has more value? An original hand-made piece of artwork, or a print of that artwork? Prints are easy to mass produce. You can get a nice, high quality, glossy print of the Mona Lisa almost for free at this point. But the actual Mona Lisa, the original product, is actually valuable beyond value.
Art prints are literally just replicating a single file over and over and over again, but the original is one-of-a-kind and where all the effort is most evident. All the layers of paint can be felt as DaVinci sought perfection in his work. That's what makes it special. That's what makes it important.
My uncle does woodworking. He's so good at it, he gave my Mom an end table that looks like it came from a high-tier furniture store. A mass-produced end table like that would be at least $100. He made it by hand. It is beautiful. I will treasure that end table forever.
Effort is value.
If you spend any length of time looking at art websites where AI art is allowed (such as deviantart or pixiv), what you'll often find is these AI art chumps submitting massive amounts of artwork. They'll submit 10, 20, 40+ images a day, all from the same prompt, all with slight differences, because to them, every single thing the generator produces is worth submitting.
Tumblr media
Even when I was drawing regularly, I could only really do maybe one finished piece per day. Two if you were lucky. Not only because sketching, inking, coloring and shading would take so long, but because after I was done the tank was empty. I'd used up all my effort for the day and had no more creativity left to give.
All the claims of "letting people without artistic talent generate art" are bogus because it throws the whole signal-to-noise ratio out of wack. Too much signal in itself becomes noise. And it devalues the effort that real artwork takes, because real artwork is now part of that noise, instead of rising above it.
When anyone can vomit out hundreds or even thousands of AI generated images that are of decent-to-good quality, a lot of what would be considered "b-tier" artwork ceases to be important anymore.
In a world where AI generated images are normalized, only the top 0.1% of artwork (your Mona Lisas) are considered to have real value. And who benefits the most from that kind of stuff? Rich people. Rich people who can afford to drop a million dollars on a historic piece of hand-crafted artwork. And just to be clear: these are exactly the same people who are trying to sell you on how important AI generator software is going to be going forward.
Or to simplify it even more: the people who stand to profit the most from AI "art" are the ones trying the hardest to sell you on its benefits. Because it benefits them more than it will ever benefit you.
Because, full disclosure, over this last week, a friend of mine has been having a lot of fun with Bing's new image generator feature, and I couldn't help but also play with the toy. The quality of images it can generate is shocking.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Microsoft, in their endless desperation to get anyone to use Bing on purpose, is clearly playing with fire here.
When effort is value and value is effortless, nothing has any value anymore.
I understand how, if you aren't an artist, this is all probably incredibly difficult to comprehend. The lure of fast and easy artwork from a simple line of text is a net gain to you, and nothing else really matters to your perspective. But imagine all of the up-and-coming artists who get completely pushed out of the conversation because of how easy it is to crap out endless AI generator output. I spent 20 years drawing every day for results that can be beaten in 20 seconds.
How many future artists is that going to discourage? There's a lot of buzz, now more than ever, about "late stage capitalism" and the way that's manifesting in our lives. When AI generated images are "good enough", how is that going to change the world around us?
You can't just think, "we'll figure something out" because the people trying to control this narrative do not have your best interests in mind. The people trying to control this narrative think they still don't have enough money yet even though there's not much money left to give them.
Their solution is to stop paying people to do work that they can get a computer to do for free, even if it means destroying the entire foundation of human culture. Long term destruction for short term gain. The same old story.
Are they going to get away with it?
(Another good ask along this line is over here, from February.)

🪶 CAN'T KEEP MY EYES FROM THE CIRCLING SKIES 🪶
Another bird!! originally the theme of these next two pieces was going to be scavengers, but I discovered that possums reallyyy don't translate super well into this style and layout, so I'm gonna pair this black vulture one with a different, not scavenger animal instead :)
[ID:A hand holding a black and white illustration on tan paper with uneven edges. behind it is a white tapestry with a pattern made up of illustrated green leaves, slightly out of focus. The illustration is a black culture head, looking down and right in 3/4 view. All the details and the eye are sketched in with white, and the illustration itself sits within a white circle. it crops at the base of the neck, its beak and upper neck feathers overlapping the shape. There is a larger circle surrounding the head, filled with vines with aster flowers, stylized leaves, and blue foot mushrooms. Most of the plants and fungi are colored in black, but some are just a white outline. Some plant material breaks out from a larger circle behind them and the shad drawing, Over top of the plants and fungi are radiating out from the center of the fish head are sketchy white lines. the paper is thin, and has a slight scaled pattern to it.
Image 2: cropped version of the previously described illustration. the photo goes to the edges of the page, and the illustration is centered. the radial lines on the top, bottom, and right of the page are slightly cropped.
Image 3: Crop on the vulture's face, details in the white ink becoming more apparent. The image crops right after the end of the beak, and right after both eyes
Image 4: Crop focusing on the vulture's feathers and plant/fungi life. Only the top right quarter of the illustrated page area is in frame. /end ID]

Good Client Guide
I've been asked how to be a good commissioner, and while every artist is different, there are a few guidelines that are at least solid rules of thumb. In no specific order, and with no real presentation to speak of, here's a list.
Know what you want, or at least have a vague idea in mind
Communicate clearly: do not be coy or make an artist drag it out of you. Include details, especially if they are important to you. This isn't like buying a TV, this is getting another human being to make you something that is only for you. This is about what you want. If you need to give feedback regarding work done, do so clearly and cogently as possible. You don't have to be a poet, just a person with an idea, so don't be intimidated.
Have references: Either have a reference sheet made up (even if you draw your first one, yourself!) or gather up some images of things you like. If you're working without a sheet, first make sure the artist is ok with that, then give them the info. I have had people come to me with little photocollages listing ”Hair similar to this, but this color, clothes like this, body style like this, shoes like this, but in this color, etc.“ And you know what? I nailed it for them every time. Once you have your first image, use that as reference for the next ones.
Try to make sure your references have everything an artist will need to work from.
Ask for WIPs on big projects, and ask for changes during the sketch phase: It is generally ok to ask for a WIP sketch on a big project. General etiquette is to ask for any big changes during the sketch stage, before inking and coloring get involved. That said, do not be afraid to ask for what you want. If, at the sketch stage, something is off, speak up. Be frank, but do be polite. Every rule also has its exceptions. If your character has purple hair, and the artist has colored it blonde, mention that. If they missed that little tattoo that is on your ref sheet, mention it. One thing, though, do not ask artists to work off of several conflicting sheets. The collage idea only works if you're just starting out, and it's confusing to jump back and forth between conflicting references.
Regarding artistic license: Ask if an artist is comfy with that, first. Some people genuinely like seeing where an artist will take something. This is lovely! However, some of us are very uneasy with it, and want a clear idea of what you want. Also, if you choose to let an artist create something for you, with no more input than the initial contact and concept, please don't ask for a bunch of changes. Many people think they want to be surprised, but actually do have a vision in mind, and become disappointed if they don't get a vision they never communicated in the first place. That isn't fair to any of the parties involved!
Be respectful of boundaries: If an artist says they are uncomfortable with a subject, do not push them to engage with said subject. Period, end of story. An artist also shouldn't press you to let them use any of your characters in ways you don't like.
Don't argue with an artist's prices: If you can't afford something, that's ok. We aren't judging you, we're probably poor, too. But don't argue or be rude about a price. “Wow, I wish I could afford that!” is the “If it doesn't scan, it's free, right?” of the art world. Please do not. Especially on an open commissions announcement or something, because at that point you're getting in the way of paying clients instead of just being pithy.
Pay promptly: Some artists take the whole thing upfront, some take half upfront and half after. Some dangerous fools don't take any money upfront, paid only on completion. Whatever methodology they take, pay at the time that you agree to.
Tipping: It is good form to tip an artist, if you can afford to. Most people do not know this. Artists often undersell their wares, and if you think its worth more, even that up with a tip.
Do not buy what you can't afford: Dear, god, the last thing I want to hear from a client is that they aren't eating or paying their bills to buy something from me. Please, take care of yourself and do not buy art if you are in danger! Food, meds and shelter first! We're out of a job if our clients die off, you know!
Be respectful of time: If you have a date you need something by, make sure that's clear, and that the artist agrees to that date. Generally, there can be roughly 24 hours of play in response time on either end, since both you and the artist do have lives. You may not even live in the same time zone! Both can be patient with that. And, of course, if either has an emergency or illness, that's different. Asking after something more than once a day is a bit clingy, but also, don't leave an artist hanging for days on end if they're asking for feedback.
While my words might have gotten long in the tooth, I would like to hope these are cogent in the majority. I'm blessed to do this work, and blessed with good clients, so hopefully this little guide can shine a light for anyone wondering how to be a good one, too!

🔮Witch!Sam Bingo🔮 🚘🐺Friday Drive🐺🚘
(Please do not edit/alter. Feel free to reblog, but please do not repost. At the very least please give me credit.)
Square Filled: wolf!familiar Event: @witchsambingo
For more art from me please check out my “myart” tag here on Tumblr. 👇(Art Notes and sketch below the cut) 👇
Art Notes: I finally finished my first square for the Witch!Sam Bingo!🙌 I’ve been trying to do that for a year now, but I couldn’t settle on an idea for any of the squares. Finally, last month I had sketched out this on cardstock paper, thinking I should try again at another traditional ink and marker drawing:
Tumblr media
And I like where this sketch was heading. I was like what’s not to love with mixing classical spn with witch!Sam elements? But, I knew I should just take it over to digital instead of risking me screwing up the inking process with traditional mediums. So I took a picture of it and traced, adjusted, and fixed stuff in Sai. But, it took me so long to get it all done because I kept procrastinating with it. I was just, for some reason, struggling to work on it. Eventually, when I got to the end of the shading and all of the lighting stages I mainly just slapped it all down just to get it done. I wanted to be finished. It’s been hard to art lately. I can get spurts of art in every once in a while but it is not reliable.
The background was an image of a cornfield I found on google that I took to Ps elements 15 to motion blur and change the coloration, lighting, and shading. I really could not be bothered to do a hand drawn background here. And tbh, I don’t think it would have turned out as well if I did. I’m actually pretty happy with how the background turned out.
I probably should have Gaussian blurred Dean but, I didn’t want to take the time. The me right now is satisfied enough with it.
References that I used for Sam and Dean: For Sam’s face I referenced a flipped 7x06. Sam and Dean’s outfits/body’s and inside of Baby I referred to both 1x02 and 1x05 where Sam and Dean are in the car. For the wolf I referenced two google images of an orange-ish wolf that I thought looked pretty. (One that was just a side profile of the head. The other a full body side profile)
I have no idea how to approach the other eight squares, but I’m hopeful that I’ll get some ideas eventually. It’s a lucky thing for me that the bingo decided to drop the deadline. Otherwise none of this would have happened.
But, for now I can at least cross one off the grid.
Tumblr media
I didn’t really listen to anything specific for this....well I did keep relistening/rewatching electricmonk’s vid for a little bit towards the end so that kind of counts. Too gorgeous of a vid not to rec anyways.
youtube
And, I think that’s it. Enjoy, if you can!♥♥♥

Here’s a reference sheet for my version of Captain 3, Samuel.
Info about him under the cut:
(Note that some aspects of his character are subject to change since I am still figuring out some details about him, so bare with me here)
General/Backstory of how he became the inkling he is in the present
- He lived in a town near Calamari County as a child until the day he turned 14, when he ran away from home to carve out his own path in Inkopolis, where following a certain elderly squid down a manhole would change the trajectory of his life.
- He went from being an outspoken and silly squid as a 14 year old, to serious and hard-working to a fault, before mellowing out and becoming more laidback as an adult.
- Became Captain approximately a year before the events of Splatoon 3.
Relationships with the other NSS members
- Having known Cap’n Cuttlefish and the Squid Sisters longer than most of the other agents, he sees them more as a grandfather figure and older sister figures, respectively. As a result, he took Cap’n Cuttlefish being sucked dry by a bear pretty hard.
- Is good friends with both Coral (Agent 4) and Lila (Agent 8), but has a closer relationship with Lila due to the events in the metro.
- He still feels guilty for fighting Lila twice, though (even if one of those times was out of his control).
- His protégée Nixie (New Agent 3) reminds him of how he was as a teen, especially in terms of how serious she is about the missions and how she acts outside of missions. He ends up being a brotherly mentor to her, and encourages her to take breaks to prevent her from overworking herself.
Miscellaneous
- Prefers to use shooter weapons and non-scoped chargers, with his current favorite weapons being the Tentatek Splattershot and Z+F Splat Charger (his previous favorites were his trusty old Hero Shot Replica and Firefin Splat Charger, but those are both too outdated for him to legally use in turf war).
- Used to wear replicas of his Hero Gear all of the time when playing inksports, but as he grew older he began to gravitate towards more comfortable articles of clothing (such as hoodies) outside of missions.
-He has never worked for Grizzco, and is even less interested now that he knows why Mr. Grizz wanted his employees to get so much golden eggs.
- He is blind in his right eye due to it being exposed to the sanitized ink. It also led to his right eye permanently changing color from orange to a dull yellow.
- The scars on his arms and face were from the events in the metro, mainly from when he broke the blender Cap’n Cuttlefish and Agent 8 were trapped in.
- The scar on his ear is not from the metro, or any mission at all for that matter. That was instead from a fishing trip he took with Cap’n Cuttlefish.
As a bonus for reading this far, have this messy sketch of Samuel while he was controlled by the sanitized ink:

Pool - Steddie MicroFic
Written for ‘Pool’ wc: 600 | rated: e | AO3 Link
Edit: Misread the challenge rules! This month's cap was 442 words. So instead of pairing this down I'll just try to do better next time!
Steve and the kids change the way Eddie gets tattoos.
Before they were scratchers, done in kitchens and back rooms by 'friends of friends,' paid for in drugs. But after the Upside Down, after the long hospital nights, after the slow recovery, caring about his body had finally wormed its way into Eddie's brain. He couldn't imagine getting some of his unscarred skin inked only to get an infection.
One of Eddie's newer goals in life was never to disappoint Steve Harrington. With the exception of bad punchlines. When he was in and out of consciousness in the hospital Eddie heard everything Steve whispered at his bedside. How he was Steve's hero, how Steve needed to see Eddie’s smile, needed his eyes to open. Eddie vowed that he wouldn’t make Steve worry like that again.
So he saved tips from gigs and barback work. He started his sleeve with Max. A busted skateboard lovingly taped back together, high up on his left shoulder.
"You wanna keep it black and white?"
Eddie thought about Max, her recovery, and all he could see were bright pops of color.
"Nah man, make it loud. Pale skin makes for a good canvas."
He kept going, adding dice, a walkie, a spear... Each piece in bright colors. Everytime he went back to Hawkins for D&D or movie nights the kids would praise what he'd gotten and speculate about the next one.
Even when he was in town to see Wayne or smoke with Jonathan, he’d end up at Steve’s, swimming in the pool. It was their thing, a relaxing ritual. Heated water, low lights. Steve couldn’t swim alone anymore. Too much trauma, but with Eddie… Sometimes they would strip down and just float.
After Eddie started the sleeve, he’d wrap his new ink or sit with just his legs in the water. When he dived back in, he told Steve to touch the healed pieces.
Steve hesitantly reached his hand out. His hot fingers lightly ran over Eddie's skin making him want to melt as they both treaded water.
"They feel… raised?"
"Yeah, my artist is good but heavy handed. All the outline work is like etched in."
Eddie's breath caught in his throat as Steve's fingers reached up and ran over the faded scar on his neck.
"You’re incredible. You carved in something new. Something good."
"You could too Steve." Eddie reached out and touched Steve’s neck. "Add new memories. Better ones."
Eddie caught sight of Steve's eyes, darting from his scar to his lips. "I don't think I'm as brave as you Eds,” he said before pulling back.
That night Eddie sketched out his next tattoo.
He slapped the lined paper down on the counter as soon as his shop opened the next morning. He'd drawn the nail bat. The nails to be in neon blue, sunlight in oranges and yellow streaming behind. The bat in a wood grain. “Think a brunette with natural highlights,” Eddie said casually. “And,” he added, “you've been a little light handed, make sure this one’s deep.”
He spent a lot of the next month poolside with flimsy excuses not to jump in. Until the day he brought out the stereo and played Steve his new demo tape.
"You're doing such amazing things,” Steve said before he submerged most of his body under water. “Everyone is and… I'm here, just scraping by.”
Eddie stripped and dove in. He swam up to Steve and guided his hand to the new ink.
In the pool with that tattoo, Steve said that was the first time he realized Eddie loved him.

ZINETOBER WEEK 1: Forest
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Originally I wanted to draw all of my favorite forest animals for this weeks prompt but I realized that it would take forever.
Instead, I decided to draw a bunch of banana slugs because I remembered that one time while I went hiking, I saw a ton of them. It was like they decided to takeover the entire forest!
I love how each banana slug came out but I feel that once I scanned them, they ended up looking super saturated and the marker streaks are super visible? I don't know what I did but I promise it looks way better in real life 😭😭😭
Supplies/Programs Used:
🎨 Procreate: just to make the post, not for the zine itself
🎨 Canva: for the cover page and the background text
📱 Adobe Scan

blame it all on human nature - chapter 5
ao3 link || part one
☆Tuesday, April 8th, 1986☆
Eddie takes his normal seat at the lunch table, swinging his legs into his chair. Like ducklings, the kids file in around him.
“Whatcha got there, Baby Byers?” Eddie asks, as Will sets something carefully on the other end of the table. Eddie can’t really see what it is.
“Finished your DM screen.” Will explains. “Just gotta wait for it to dry now.”
“Shit, really? Lemme see!” Eddie hops up and circles the table. The thin wooden screen looks much different than he’s used to, but it still looks magical. Instead of glossy black, Will’s decorated it with painted symbols in different colors, glowing like they’re about to come to life.
Eddie lets his hand hover above the paint, not daring to touch the wet paint and ruin it. “Looks incredible, Will.” he says. “You’re a great artist.”
“Thanks.” Will says, and Eddie crosses back to his seat.
“When are we gonna play the campaign?” Dustin asks. “I have an idea for my character already!”
“Oh, really?” Eddie waves at Robin as he sees her enter the cafeteria with some of her band friends, and about half the kids follow his example. The girl she’s walking next to gives her a weird look, probably wondering why Known Ex-Wanted Man Eddie Munson and the entire nerdy freshman population are waving at her.
She waves back.
Eddie refocuses on the table. “You can tell me about your characters now, if you’ve got ideas.” He shuffles papers around in his disaster area of a backpack. “I think I’ve got extra character sheets in here.”
He passes out the sheets to the kids, watching them all get to work. Dustin starts immediately scribbling. Wow, he wasn’t kidding when he said he had ideas for his character. Will and El bow their heads together over their papers, and Will looks like he’s explaining some stuff to El. Mike and Lucas talk together excitedly.
Eddie, for his part, starts scribbling notes to himself on his hand. Make NPCs, he scribbles. No, that’s too vague. He crosses it out. Make tavern NPCs, he adds. Better.
The familiar clicking noises of rolling dice make him jerk his head back up. Dustin’s got out his d20, rolling for various stats. Kid after my own heart, Eddie thinks to himself. Always keep a dice set on you.
Mike snatches Dustin’s d20, rolls for something on his own sheet, then tosses it back, scribbling whatever number he got down.
The harsh jangle of the bell jerks them all out of their D&D-induced trances, and Eddie says, “Keep those sheets and finish them up before you give them to me!” Dustin tosses his dice back into their plastic container and books it out of the lunch room, grinning and waving back at Eddie and the group as they all disperse, much more slowly.
Eddie can’t keep his mind off the campaign for the rest of the day. He pulls out a journal, sketching the different monsters he wants to try to incorporate. His chickenscratch penmanship is crammed around each doodle, a brief description to help him when he’s actually narrating the campaign. As each class passes, his hand turns more and more blue with inked words, reminders for later.
He’s not paying attention in class until he hears the dreaded words: “partner assignment”.
The room is basically empty nowadays, just like the rest of the school. Grant, Gareth, and Jeff weren’t the only ones who left. The school’s population has dropped by the dozens, maybe even hundreds by this point.
Eddie hunches over, hoping if he’s a small enough target, no one will want to be his partner and he’ll end up alone. Normally he’d be more confrontational, but he’s not looking to start anything and be forced to repeat the year for the fourth time.
Someone sits in the empty desk next to him. Eddie can’t see who they are, his hair’s in the way.
“You just gonna ignore me, or…?” comes a familiar voice, and Eddie almost cries with relief, tucking his hair out of the way.
“Birdie, thank god.” he says. “I was gonna do this assignment by myself. You’re my hero. I didn’t even realize you were in this class!”
Robin glares at him. “Okay, seriously? What is with people and not knowing I’m in their class? First Steve, now you?”
“I’m going to level with you, Buckley, I don’t even know what class this is.” Eddie informs her. “I knew you were in a class of mine, so that should give me a leg up on Harrington, right?”
Robin looks unamused. “Are you high?” she deadpans.
“One: how dare you, just because I don’t know where I am does not mean I am under the influence.” Eddie says in a dramatic whisper. “Two: no, I just wasn’t paying attention. Can’t even get weed anymore.”
Robin sits back. “Okay, are we gonna actually do this project? I think I brutally murdered the rest of my school friendships by coming over here.” She looks across the room, and sure enough, there’s two girls Eddie doesn’t recognize glaring at her.
“Of course we are!” Eddie says. “...what’s the project?”
“I’m gonna hit you with a car,” she informs him, and Eddie barks out a laugh.
Erica waves off Eddie’s offer of a blank campaign sheet for her character when they pick her up from the elementary school later that day. “I had my own because I was prepared.” she tells him, passing a piece of paper to him. “My character’s done.”
Eddie’s a bit taken aback. “Well then,” he says. “Good for you.” He takes it from her. “Can’t wait to play with you-” he consults the sheet. “Captain Saral Niserie.”
She scoffs, but Eddie thinks he sees a private, excited smile as she looks back out the window.
☆Thursday, April 10th, 1986☆
“We open in a tavern, settled in the middle of the forest.” Eddie says. He thinks he hears Dustin mumble something about cliches, and levels the little butthead with a glare before continuing. “There are no buildings around as far as you can see, and you are with your party. Starting with…” He places a little figurine on the table, watching Hawkin’s face (they’re an unfamiliar girl, maybe around his age, with short red hair right now) light up. “Hannah Rockebrook, a level eight human warlock.” Eddie walks her across the table and puts her on the board. “Hannah opens the door and ushers the group inside, smiling at the bartenders, a pair of half-elf twins.”
He nods to Dustin, who’s on his left, and Dustin begins to talk. “Zoi, my satyr sorcerer, orders a round at the bar and brings it to the table.” He looks at Eddie. “Can I roll for perception?” Eddie nods. “Seven, with a plus one, so that’s eight.”
“Zoi sees a poster on the wall and points it out to the group.” Eddie says. “Also, you lose ten gold for paying for the drinks.”
Erica, who’s next, says, “Saral Nisarie, my cleric selkie, reads it aloud.” She looks at Eddie, because, right, they don’t actually know what it says.
“Monster hunting!” Eddie announces. “Rewards handsomely for each monster your group kills!”
The group begins to chatter, and Eddie keeps hearing Dustin and Mike talk about how boring the campaign is already. They haven’t even played for longer than a few minutes!
Will bangs the table (Lucas’s miniature falls over, and El fixes it with a sharp jerk of her head). “‘I think we should do it!’ my dragonborn Lytlutyl announces.”
“Wait, wait, wait.” Eddie says. “Say that name again.”
Will sounds it out slowly. “Lee-tuh-loo-till.”
“Yeah, I’m not saying that every time.” Eddie deadpans. “Can you give her a nickname?”
Will rolls his eyes. “Fine. What about Lita?”
“Acceptable.” Eddie waves a hand. “Continue.”
The group goes around, introducing themselves. El’s chosen to play a ranger, a Drow named Atierith (Ah-tee-er-ith, nicknamed Rith at Eddie’s request) of House Tema. Mike’s a tiefling bard named Celan the Degenerate. Lucas is a wererat artificer, named Iros Wainwright.
They delay a little bit when Lucas insists on talking with the bartenders (named Ronan and Stella) about the monsters around and learning effectively nothing, but they do manage to make it out of the tavern before the first session’s close, which is more than Eddie had been expecting, to be honest.
Saral lights off Hand of Radiance, and her hand begins to glow so the party can see in the woods. They walk for in-game hours, unable to find the monsters Stella and Ronan insisted were everywhere.
“Wind blows through the trees.” Eddie says. “Uh, Will, make a perception check.”
Will grabs and rolls the d20. “Nat 20!” he cheers.
Well, Eddie wasn’t expecting that, but he supposes he can give it to them a little early. “Some of the trees aren't reacting to the wind. None of their branches are bending when the wind blows, unlike all the other trees.”
“Can I throw something at one?” Mike asks.
“Roll dexterity?”
Mike does. “Eleven, with a minus one, so that’s ten.” El makes a little aborted motion, as if reacting to the number, which Eddie doesn’t really get.
“That hits.”
“I pick up a rock and throw it at a tree.” Mike says.
Eddie mentally runs through who’s where. “Lucas, roll athletics?”
He does. “Fourteen.”
“The tree makes a swipe, narrowly missing you.”
“Mimic!” Dustin shouts, panicked, and Eddie grins evilly.
“As you all watch, eight trees begin to twist and crack, bending at their halfway points and planting their canopies on the ground like legs. The ground underneath you shudders and shakes.” He traces around their minifigures, splitting the group in half. “Saral, Celan, Rith, and Zoi, you get lifted into the air on the back of the monster. Hannah, Lita, and Iros, you’re stuck on the ground.”
“Can I cast Inflict Wounds?” Erica asks viciously.
Eddie looks down at his sheet. The monster’s got a defense of thirteen. “Roll for it?”
She does. “Nine?”
“Sorry, kid.” Eddie says. “The monster feels your attempt to hurt it and growls. The motion shakes its entire body, and you slip off.”
“Can I catch her?” Hawkins says urgently, appearing right between him and Dustin.
“Hannah moves to catch her.” Eddie says before Lucas can jump in, because he can see he’s about to. He picks up the d20 Dustin had picked out for him, black with red inked numbers, and rolls for athleticism.
“She got a seventeen!” Eddie says. “Hannah takes one point of damage from the catch, but Saral, you’re fine, and you land neatly in Hannah’s arms.”
Erica smiles smugly.
Will jumps in. “Can we try to cut down the tree legs from here?”
Eddie nods. “Go ahead.”
“Uh, Lita’s got an axe,” Will says, consulting his character sheet. “So she attacks the leg closest to her.”
“Roll strength?”
“Eight, saving throw adds two.”
“She gets about halfway through the trunk before the monster roars and flings her away. Take five hit points.” Eddie says, and Will marks it down.
The battle’s fun. More chaotic than Eddie’s used to, due to the sheer number of players at his table, but they manage to get through the fight with no deaths. El delivers the final blow, and the table goes wild as Eddie describes the monster curling up and shriveling away.
“There’s something red in the husk of what used to be the monster.” Eddie says, and everyone’s interest is immediately piqued.
“Iros goes to check.” Lucas says.
“Roll perception.”
Lucas winces. “Four.”
“It’s a person with curly hair in a red tunic.” Eddie says. Bare minimum. “They’re lying on their side, asleep.”
Dustin tilts his head, leaning forward. “Were they possessed? Were they turned into the monster?”
Eddie smiles evilly at him.
“Can you heal them, Erica?” Lucas asks.
Erica sneers at him, but rolls for it anyway. “Sixteen.”
“They sit up and groan. ‘What happened?’” Eddie says.
“‘You were a monster,’ Celan tells them.” Mike says. “‘We defeated you and you turned back into this. Can you tell us who did this to you?’”
“‘I don’t remember.’ they say. ‘I was sick, in my bed, and then I woke up here.’” Eddie claps his hands. “I think we gotta end it here for the night, guys.”
The kids all boo, but El sticks around at the end to thank him for the campaign. “It was fun.” she says.
“No problem, kid.” Eddie says. “Happy you like it.”

How long is rock and roar 1 going to be? Do you have rock and roar 1 all planned out?
Is it just a matter of inking and coloring the comic pages every 2 weeks, or do you have to think about where you want the story to go after each comic page?
I’m very excited to see Clash and the Steel Stampede! And I’m excited for rock and roar 2!
Rock and Roar is planned out from beginning to end, every chapter and scene is written. I'm following the outline as I draw each page, and I sketch out a few pages at a time before I start polishing the next page that will go up. I'm hoping the comic doesn't go on longer than four years, but it'll depend if I'm able to switch to a weekly schedule instead of biweekly at some point.
And thank you! I'm excited to introduce them.

So, had the idea for a PT/Splatoon AU considering they are two of my hyperfixations atm and I think it would be interesting to combine them. Might sketch out some ideas later but I do have a general idea of who would be what.
Peppino: Inkling. Specifically, the variant of inking I consider the Cuttlefish family to be. King Inklings. These inklings typically have their ink color shown in the tips of their tentacles instead of the majority. They also live much longer than regular inklings, although Pep here is still middle-aged. Isn’t old enough to have served in the Great Turf War, although he was part of another war and still suffers from PTSD.
Gustavo: Axolotl. Tbh it made sense to me cause axolotls are typically seen as “friend shaped” and considering how I have Gus’s personality set, it was only fitting.
Brick: Giant sea cucumber. THANKFULLY, Brick isn’t as violent as CQ, and can’t even talk. He much rather would be Gus’s buddy and help him out.
Pepperman: Coconut Crab. Idk, considering how large he is in canon (plus his attacks) this made sense to me.
Vigilante: Jellyfish. Since jellies are extremely common in the Splatverse, much like cheese slimes in PT. Although it was tricky deciding what exactly he’d be, considering I originally thought to make him an inkling or octoling considering how he can sink into the floor much like they can. But ultimately I thought him being a jellyfish made much more sense.
Noise: Fuzzy Octoling. Despite what you may think, he’s actually not fuzzy due to the fuzzy ooze, but due to a genetic mutation. I’ll have a separate post explaining said mutation since it’s a bit too much info for here, but yeah. Still runs NTV. Also HATES Shiver with a passion, and will take any opportunity he can to dunk on him live. Seriously. He hates him more than he hates Pep, and that’s saying something.
Noisette: Octoling. I originally was going to make her a fuzzy octo like Noise, but I thought one fuzzy octo was enough. Plus, variety.
Fake Peppino: Hoooo boy this is where things get interesting. So. Fake Pep here is an experiment gone wrong. An attempt at mixing human DNA with inkling DNA. Why did this happen? Well..
Pizzahead: Shock of the day, Pizzahead is a fucking human. A scientist that ended up getting shot up from the rocket, and falling back down to earth. Much like Grizz. He was an accomplice of Grizz, but after ROTM, decided to take matters into his own hands in order to revive humanity. May or may not have gone insane in the process.
As for story? Well, don’t have much on that front. But here’s what I do have:
-The protagonist is Agent 4. Figured I’d give them some love since Nintendo seems to have forgotten about them.
-Peppino and Gustavo serve as general guides, providing tips and funny dialogue, much like Callie and Marie in ROTM.
-That’s it lol.
