Murder Board 2.0

Since I've figure a few things out, I need to re-do my Murder Board. New answers, new questions.

What I think I know:

NEIL GAIMAN IS A LYING LIAR WHO LIES. Except when he's dropping hints or answering straight out. All of his answers to anything anyone asks about GO are suspect at best. (I cannot blame him or anyone else on the cast or crew -- they spent A LOT of time and energy building this very meticulous puzzle game for us -- why would ANY of them give ANY of it away? That would ruin all the fun!)

Most of the discontinuity of Season 2 can be explained by POV switches between characters. See here and here for more. I think the title/location cards are also probably POV Clues, that needs a closer look.

Crowley gave something to Aziraphale in his mouth when they kissed. It's the fly. Now, what else was in the fly besides Gabriel's memory? RECORDS.

Saraqael and Crowley and by proxy, Aziraphale are all working together. See here and here for more. That explains A. the tiny miracle blowing up into a 25 Lazarii miracle. It didn't. They had to cover for something else that did. B. Saraqael showing the archangels the book shop in 2019 in the spy hole. C. Crowley's spy turtle neck and where he went during Aziraphale's Job flashback. D. Why Saraqael helps him see the trial in Heaven. (Oh! Muriel's now in on it, too!)

Crowley's memory is fine, it's a red herring. He is dissing Furfur, he is denying knowing Saraqael even after she gives him a reason to recognize her to hide that they are working together. He tells Jim he doesn't remember why they invented gravity, but that whole scene if from Aziraphale's perspective, so the conversation likely didn't actually go just like that.

Shax is on a mission besides Gabriel -- she's looking for whatever Aziraphale and Crowley are hiding. Gabriel is a side-mission.

The hand-washing comment from Crowley in the Resurrectionists minisode -- he tells DaVinci about helicopters in Good Omens the novel. It's just a thing he can do.

What is up with Maggie? Maggie's freaking Jesus 2.0. She's what Shax is looking for, and who Crowley, Aziraphale, and Saraqael are hiding. Also, where is God? God is busy being Maggie, that's where. Now, how the FUCK did Jesus 2.0 wind up owning a record store she inherited from her family NEXT TO AN ANGEL??

SECRET SONGS??? Why are the songs secret?? I'm losing my mind, what is happening?? I think this is a message that A. Aziraphale and Crowley are okay, and B. We will absolutely be getting part 3 of 1941.

I still think the scenes might be out of order. Is it as simple as watching them in chronological order? Could be.

What still needs answering:

The clocks jumping time still don't make any sense.

The weird hand in the 1941 photo still doesn't make sense.

Aziraphale's chair position being moved still doesn't make sense.

The extras behaving strangely still doesn't make sense.

Crowley's car being in the wrong spot on the road after Shax threatens him still doesn't make any sense.

I'm not sure that the POV switches explains all the weird sounds.

I'm not sure that POV switches explain Crowley's sunglasses going from silver to black.

I still don't know why Aziraphale went to Edinburgh, or why he stopped at the graveyard where Gabriel's statue is.

Why does Michael do the "nothing's in the box" thing with the matchbox? It's a petty specific action. Someone pointed out that Michael's nails look chewed and terrible, are we meant to stare at the matchbox while something else goes unnoticed? Well, duh. But what?

We most certainly did not get the whole scene where the Metatron is talking to Aziraphale. What else was said?

What did Crowley do during his ALL-NIGHT JAUNT in Heaven? Did he sneak around and steal something? Did he uncover something? Did they hurt him?

What did Aziraphale do with his briefcase that he took to Edinburgh? We see it in the book shop from his POV, and Edinburgh is seen from Crowley's POV, so they both know it exists. And then it's gone.

Why does Gabriel prophecy with God's voice? IS it God's voice? It's a woman, is it Francis McDormand? It's hard to hear.

Why the heck did Maggie and Nina go talk to Crowley while the Metatron was talking to Aziraphale? What they had to say wasn't important enough to leave Nina's shop during a rush, and I definitely don't think they derailed Crowley from what he needed to say to Aziraphale, though it might look at first as if they did. So what was that about?

When Shax stops Aziraphale for a ride, he says, "Oh, I really need to get to --" and then is cut off. He really needs to get to where? It's an easy assumption to think he means the book shop, or London. But is that all he means? Or was he on his way somewhere else? And if it was just the book shop, what does he mean he's late? Late for what?

Crowley can tell "something's wrong," and he doesn't just mean the demons. What?

Why would the Metatron allow Beelzebub and Gabriel to leave, after trying to stop Armageddon 2.0, but come after Crowley and Aziraphale like that? Because of the big miracle? Just because they're higher-ups? Something stinks. Is it because he knows they know where Jesus is?? Fuck.

Why does Crowley say "Oh, God," right before his confession in the final fifteen? To let Aziraphale know that he understands what Aziraphale is saying? That God (or the Voice) is there? Seems possible.

When Crowley leaves Heaven, he tells Saraqael and Muriel to come, too. But in the elevator, Michael and Uriel are there! When the fuck did they show up??

Why does Beelzebub tell Shax to attack the bookstore? Aren't they worried about Gabriel being harmed? And they know Hell is understaffed. Maybe that's why they command it? Because they know Shax won't be able to get the demons?

What about the Masons? It's such a specific thing for the pub owner to bring up, what is the meaning of it? And Maggie has a Mason symbol on her necklace. Did the Masons carve the statue of Gabriel? When did they see him?

The only narration we hear in the entire season is Aziraphale in the Resurrectionist flashback. I believe this is to throw us off the POV character switches all season. But still, why do we only hear him narrate 1 flashback? I think he's reading the diary to himself in the present day. That would explain the end, "And that was the last I was to see of Crowley for some time." He JUST heard the story of the jukebox from Maggie. And Gabriel appearing -- same city that statue is in. Of course he thought of something important from that diary entry! Now, what did he notice?

Is the Book of Life a real threat? We hear two stories about it, that it's real and that its ability to erase beings was something to scare the cherubs with, this is inconclusive. Crowley gets nervous after Beelzebub talks to him, but I think he's pissed that Heaven and Hell have taken an interest in them again, especially since they're trying to hide Maggie!Jesus.

So many promo posters show Aziraphale, Crowley, and Jimbriel together, or symbols of them. Three feathers: two white, one black. Tea cup, cocoa mug, wine glass. The three of them. Not with Beelzebub, not with Muriel, the three of them. And all three of them have been Jesus-coded in some small way. No one else. Those three. What. Why. Are they the sacrifice required to bring about the new world? Why not Beez, then?

Wait. Two Crowleys?? WTF. There are two Crowley puppets in the magic shop. Am I insane? I have no theory here, just some wild speculation that needs a lot more time to simmer. Two actual Crowleys, or two ideas of Crowley? Or something to hurt my head?

An album on the wall in Maggie's shop says "Rat Keith." This seems to me to be an allusion to The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents, by Terry Pratchett. In the book, some men have tied several rats' tails together to create a rat king that keeps the wild rats under control -- except that the rat king has too much power and is doing way more than just that. People die. So who's been given too much power and is now running the show instead of being a puppet? The Metatron, perhaps? Hm . . . Also, Keith is the young boy who plays the part of the Pied Piper for Maurice's scam. He leads all the rats out of town, never mind that the rats can talk and are in on the scam.

WHAT is going on with that damn white head statue in Aziraphale's book shop? It's centered in more than one shot, as if it's a character. Is it a POV hint? I wonder, if it is, whose POV it represents?

A blog that I didn't reblog pointed out that the records Aziraphale is listening to when Garbriel shows up are neither Shostakovich nor 21 minutes long. That seems important, but I'm not sure how.

Repeating themes: (I am just realizing that these aren't just themes, they are all Clues!)

Beverages of all kinds -- tea for Aziraphale, wine or whiskey for Crowley, cocoa for Jim.

Time -- lots of clocks/mentions of time

Love/partnership/togetherness being stronger than separateness

Memories/forgetting/remembering

Payment -- money comes up in both the Resurrectionists minisode and the Flesh Eating Nazi Zombies minisode, but no one pays for anything in present. There is bartering, but no money.

Rising from the dead -- Job's kids (even though they weren't actually dead), bodies used for science, Nazi zombies, the Second Coming. I think this is all just hinting around Jesus -- sure, hinting around Jesus, who we were expecting to show up in Season 3, but she's already here. The hints indicate that she is already on Earth, not going to show up next season. Ha!

Unreliable narrators. Because we are seeing the whole show from various characters' points of view. Because of that, we can only see what they know, expect, believe, or understand, but also what they want us to see. We need to take the whole second season with a grain of salt.

Death in general -- but 9a., I'm a dirty pagan, why didn't I make this connection sooner, death always leads to REBIRTH, change, something totally new and 9b. there are tarot cards in the magic shop, and even if you're not a dirty pagan, the Death tarot card means transition, something must die before a new thing can be born. Hmmmm.

Morality and what is "good" and what is right

Recognition and identity. Ah! Probably at least partly because Maggie is Jesus. How would you recognize her? She doesn't look like White Jesus, or even a more realistic Middle-Eastern or Black Jesus. She looks like Maggie. Who would know her? I think there's more to this theme, but Maggie as Jesus 2.0 adds up.

Licenses, permits, permissions, rules, proof, evidence, what's allowed. All of the minisodes mention this, and it all gets mentioned again over and over. Because Heaven and Hell do have rules they have to follow. Which drives home my theory that Gabriel stole some very incriminating records from Heaven when he left, Crowley got hold of them and gave them to Aziraphale during the kiss, and now Aziraphale is going to nail them.

yourusername welcome back to my postgame penalty box update show: quinn is the nhl's first star of the week edition!

the canucks are now 3/3 for the four game series against the oilers with their 6-2 win tonight, and oh, what a win it was!

professional best friend and hockey player quintin jerome hughes is SO tight with the hockey gods that they made the oilers's vincent desharnais poke the puck quinn just shot into his own net! thanks hockey gods for the quinn goal, a.k.a the first goal for the boys!

my blonde princess scored two of the six goals tonight, and quinny quinn assisted on both! #JustBestieThings he also assisted on millsy's goal, giving him A FOUR POINT NIGHT! AGAIN!

in case you aren't keeping count with me, this was quinn's 4th 3+ point night of the season, 20th of his career, his 2nd 4+ point night of the season, 3rd of his career, his 4th 3+ assist game of the season, 15th of his career, and his 5th multi point game of the season, 50th of his career! that's a lot of top notch games!

and for my favorite part of the game: the third period! for one, 🚨my man millsy and zach hyman dropped the gloves🥊🚨 they just... didn't do it well... i believed in j.t. but hyman was flailing about (it looked like he was trying to punch with both hands at once... interesting tactic i might have to steal when on regular ground) and j.t. quickly had him down on the ice! and digi held back a rowdy connor mcdavid and he fell to his knees! this is all because mccaptain was acting out all night and exchanged some cross checks with millsy, so hyman fought millsy for touching his captain, and digi grabbed mccaptain for touching his bestie

AND THEN, less than a minute later, mcdavid still had some angry cat vibes left in him and fell over suter while trying to cross check him and a scrum ensued! after being yanked out of the scrum, mcdavid then decided to shove quinn for no reason and then quinn JUMPED ON HIM to hold him back from going back in! i love it here! mcdavid got a penalty for roughing, and mr. leon draisaitl got a misconduct! AND LATER THE OILERS HEAD COACH GOT A MISCONDUCT! HOW COACHY CRO OF HIM!

in conclusion, i’m so proud of you quinn! you keep getting better and better every game and i'm enjoying every minute of it! here's to many more four point nights🤍 i love you way past infinity!

TMAGP 9 Thoughts: Name Dropping

This one was a big one. I was hoping some of this would happen later if only for my own amusement. Of all the episodes thus far I think there might be have the most foundational elements to the wider narrative in it.

Spoilers for episode 9 below the cut.

We'll start at the start although I don't have much to say about this pre-incident banter. It's mostly stuff that I think is for humour rather than narrative relevance. Such as the questions have a classic 7 point scale, but instead of neutral in the middle neutral is an extreme and trauma is the other one. Dead creatures, blood transfusions, and why? are all similar there. It's fun dialogue but I don't think there is much to say beyond that.

The case itself is a really great one. Might be my favourite so far. It's a Magnus Institute statement, opens with some interesting titbits, is TTRPG related, has a fun hook, and a satisfying conclusion. Hard to fault it anywhere.

So lets get to the fun stuff. The Magnus Institute framing isn't really of interest to me right now. This isn't anything particularly unexpected and doesn't give us any new information about the Institute itself but does hint at some of their methodology. The statement is part of artefact's assessment, and preceding the statement itself the artefact is given some viability ratings. No viability as subject, low as agent, and medium as catalyst. I've seen some people interpreting this as being about the statement giver but as this is the "Statement and Research assessment for artefact CD137" I think that's a misinterpretation. Especially since this post-statement and the statement giver dies. Those terms aren't explained here but if I had to take a stab at it I think subject is probably about further research, agent is it's utility as a weapon, and catalyst is likely related to rituals or avatars. The recommendation is a referral to "referral to Catalytics for Enrichment applicability assessment. "Enrichment" here could be a euphemism for turning someone into an avatar of sorts, or be a little more literal as an actual catalyst for some sort of experiment or ritual. I think the ritual idea is maybe more on the right lines as alchemy is a large motif of this series.

There isn't much to say about the statement itself. The dice could be the same ones mentioned in Episode 4: Taking Notes. That episode wasn't written by Jonny or Alex, while this one was, but I feel that sort of detail is something they'd feel comfortable adding in. Although I think it's more likely that the old man himself was part of the direction.

"Externals Liaison" being "gofer" so far is pretty great, and Nigel Dickerson is a pretty spot on name for that sort of British TV personality. Can't wait to hear about how they eat children.

Alice still being into Sam and jelly of Celia is cute, and it's great to see more of Teddy. I'm pretty sure he's going to play a larger role in all of this than it seems so far. Going to dig through the ruins of the Magnus Institute might also mean that episode 10 will be a no-incident episode too. Those things usually happened at the start and end of seasons for TMA but it seems pretty appropriate for TMP right now.

Overall, great episode.

Starting with this post I'm going to include a link to my Google sheet containing all the current cases, their CAT#'s, R#'s, DPHW's, etc. It contains about as much information on each as I think is reasonable, including who narrates it, a link to its episode, and any other relevant notes, as well as headers for incidents we didn't hear. Additionally it also contains the Klaus sheet (German and English) and links to it when a incident matches. It will be updated each episode after the episode is publicly available.

Incident/CAT#R#DPHW Master Sheet

DPHW Theory: 3354 is fairly standard for this sort of thing, I think. I expected H to be a little higher in general but not by a lot. The only very high score we've seen for H involved a lot of compulsion, and the higher scores are harder to escape from than this one seems to be.

Splitting CAT# and R# theories into two separate things now. As you may or may not have seen I wrote a fairly extensive theory on what I think R# means so it makes no real sense to group them.

CAT# Theory: CAT3 is a nice new data point. Not many CAT3's so hopefully this will help elucidate that. But as of yet I don't have a solid theory about how that could work. The other CAT3's were Transformation (Eyes) -/- Trespass, and Transformation (Full) -/- Dysmorphic which have the obvious overlap of transformation but that doesn't have a lot of overlap with Dice (Bone) -/- Fate particularly. There is the subsection of bone here which you could say is linked to the more physical manifestations of those two incidents but the Tria Prima idea I talked about here isn't something I think holds up well. So if CAT3 is something along the lines of the physical I don't think it'll be quite like that.

R# Theory: RB isn't particularly interesting in a general sense. It supports my theory reasonably well and so isn't too surprising. Which means there is little to talk about there. However, I do think it's a really good nail in the coffin for some of my other ideas. Which is encouraging now that I'm thinking about it in very different terms.

Header talk: Dice (Bone) -/- Fate is somewhat interesting. Dice (Bone) is incredibly specific in a way that bothers me. So far sections have been reasonably broad. A violin ends up in Collection, other objects in Agglomeration, Architecture deals with seemingly all buildings, but this section is just for dice? I can't be the only one that thinks that's far more specific than what we've seen before. It's also another very strange crosslink. I'm still not entirely sure what to make of those. I may have mentioned briefly that my current framework for crosslinks is viewing them as vectors. i.e. they're the way in which the supernatural is able to manifest. That holds up with Fate but it's still a bit strange in general terms.

Well, chapter 2 is done, just going to look over it and post it tomorrow. Sorry for taking so long and not being active here. Just been feeling, bleh. The meds I'm taking worked well until it stopped so I have been feeling tired. After updating the story I'm gonna post more here. I just stopped so I can focus on chapter 2 and finish it.

Also thank the season 4 special giving me some motivation and the last push I need to make me finish this. Wukong’s dad bod tho-

“Now this is more like it, Almond!” You said in eagerness, giving a small bowl of shredded meat to your dog. Today was a pain in the ass but at least you’re celebrating with a good meal tonight. A few meat and custard-filled steamed buns with actual soda and alcohol. Lately you have been drinking pure water or sometimes juice. Since they were cheaper. However, after a long week of work and this stressful day, you decided, you’re going to treat yourself. So you turned on the TV to some cable channel that had a Chinese Drama. Unfortunately, it was only in Cantonese, but hey better than nothing. You ain’t complaining. Spider Queen was extremely generous when she gave you an increase of pay. Maybe it was her plan all along to get you to be at…her little ritual.

Maybe you should try and ask around next time. You are going to work for Jin and Yin for a while. They might know something, maybe…

You sat in bed and stare at the TV. Almond’s fur brushed against your leg as she slept next to you. Full from her large meal. The show was entertaining enough, which was saying a lot since you don’t know what’s happening. Only get hints and clues from their expression and atmosphere. It was either this, the news, or educational channels.

From what you gathered, this drama looks old. The resolution was low and blurry. The show follows this priestess around and her weird encounters with demons or trying to be the best priestess she can be. It’s quite cute and funny. Then again, you’re half asleep and drinking alcohol.

“What?! But I thought you need some priestess stuff, why are you running off with that dragon?!” You shout at the screen. “Ugh, come on, you need to be more responsible.” Your words slurred slightly as you mumbled off. Dozing off, staring blankly at the show.

“Be…more responsible…”You mutter quietly. The words echo in your head. Tomorrow, you’re definitely going to organize your thoughts and make a plan on what to do next. You are in the show you been obsessed with for a while now.

Yeah, that’s what you’re going to do, tomorrow. Organize your thoughts, get info, and make a plan on what to do. You’re also going to have fun while doing it. Depending on when you enter this world, you can technically avoid all of the ‘bad events’ that are to come. What is the worse that’s going to happen?

You already worked yourself to death in your old life. There’s no way you’re going to do that in this life. You are going to have fun and enjoy this one.

A chill went down your spine, swearing the room temperature dropping out of nowhere. You put the plate and bowl on your nightstand with your drinks. Turning off the TV, you decided it was the best time to call it a day and rest. Glancing down, you see Almond stir and look at the window tiredly. Her ears were down and was shaking. Due to the dropping temperature or for a completely different reason.

“What’s wrong?” You gently pet her head. She immediately leans into your touch. You glance at the window and try to see what she’s looking at. The blind covers the window but there was no shadow or any indication of anyone outside.

Sighing, you got up and head to the window. Moving the blinds slightly, there was nothing, no one outside. Your hand grazes the freezing glass, making you pull away from the sudden coldness. Your skin tingling and burns from the sensation. As a cold and heavy feeling settling deep within you. Making your head spin.

“What the…”

Almond whines trying to catch your attention but you kept it at the window. You noticed a slight frost at the edges of the window. Again you reach out to touch it, almost as if it was calling for you, but Almond barks. Finally, you turn around to face her.

“What is it?”

“Woof!”

“I hope you do know, I can’t really understand you.”

“Woof, woof!”

“Do you want me to leave the frost alone?”

Almond nods and jumps off the bed. Trying to push you away from the window. Her paws nudges your knee and you took a few steps away from the window. A confused expression is written across your face. Maybe it’s best if you save this for a different day and maybe when you’re not tired.

“Alright, then I'll leave it alone for now. I won't go touching it, calm down.” You pick Almond up and went back to the bed.

“Let’s go to bed, alright? Now stop worrying about me so much, okay?”

You stroke her head and lay the small dog in bed. She was oddly anxious. You had never seen her this worried before.

“It’s fine Almond, just go to bed.”

It didn’t take much for her to go back to sleep. You quietly lay there for a few more minutes. You’re eyes glancing at the window and back to Almond.

A sigh escapes and cover yourself up with the blanket. Almond told you to leave it alone and it’s for the best. Who knows what will happen if you touch it? It looks like Almond does and that’s a good enough reason for you.

“I really hope this doesn’t lead to anything crazy.” You mumbled finally drifting off the sleep. Just wanting this night to end.

ML Plot Points: Felix and S4 Finale

I mentioned in the S4 that Felix had his debut in S3. The episode remains mostly the same with two big differences: the akuma is not a weird lazy combo of previous akumas, and Felix’s amok is not the ring. Felix getting the ring is mostly because of his mom wanting it. Also so he could get an idea of what Gabriel’s home defenses are like.

In early season 4, after the early season akumas, Felix arrives at the manor and basically tells the Agrestes that he’ going to be staying in Paris. Either Gabriel lets him in the manor or he gets an apartment nearby where it’s harder to keep track of him. Gabriel is not amused, but gives in.

It’s worth noting that Felix knows already that he’s a sentimonster and that Gabriel is Shadowmoth, so there is no “Oh my god! My uncle is a supervillain” moment. Though he is mildly perturbed by the body in the basement.

Sentimonster or not, Gabriel cares about his nephew and will not use the peacock to thanks snap him. He will use it as a threat though, which leads Felix to gather as much evidence and dirt on Gabriel as he can and puts it on a dead man’s switch. If he doesn’t update the password every two days, it’s all sent to Adrien and the heroes. This situation leads to a back and forth between the two where Felix tries to get the peacock and collects as much blackmail material as possible, and Gabriel tries to stop him, sometimes with akumas.

Their little back and forth culminates in the season finale. Nathalie has been using optigami to try spying on the heroes, with limited success. She has discovered some identities, but none of the permanent heroes. Still, they figured out that Ladybug is in Adrien’s school. So they make a plan. Nathalie sets up the trip to get Adrien out of the city and, as Mayura, creates a Sentinathalie to accompany so she can keep track of him while being nearby in case Gabe needs an emergency akuma. Gabriel akumatises Risk and lets him go nuts for a couple of days. Once everything is set up, Gabriel dismisses Risk and creates Strikeback.

Since Strikeback is a sentimonster created form the peacock holder, Strikeback is immensely powerful and practically impossible to control, thus, why they need Adrien out of the city. The attack works almost flawlessly. They cause a lot of property damage, Ladybug is forced to rely on new Temporary heroes and both Carapace’s and Rena Rouge’s identities have been compromised. Gabriel breaks Strikeback’s amok and calls it a day.

And then everything goes wrong.

See, Adrien is not the one on the trip, it’s Felix. Adrien, knowing that he couldn’t afford to leave Paris, convinced Felix to take his place. Ladybug, having just discovered that her usual Dog holder (and everyone else, for that matter) was compromised, goes to “Adrien” to have one temp holder not manipulated by Risk. The fight against Strikeback goes a little differently, but the summary is that most of the holders are about to run out of time and Ladybug has them go to different locations to get their miraculi separately without compromising anyone else. When she goes to find “Adrien”, she finds no one. And her yo-yo disappears.

It only takes her 6 seconds to get out of her surprise and retransform to eliminate her yo-yo, but that’s enough time for Felix to pull out a bunch of miraculi.

The thing that need to be understood about Felix is that, while he is genuinely smart, he is also an arrogant asshole. He thinks that, now that he has the raw might to win, he can finally drop the clandestine approach and just punch Gabriel to get the peacock. So he does the not very smart thing and unifies every miraculous in his possession:

-Miraculi that I want Felix to have: dog, ox, fox, turtle, tiger.

-Miraculi I wouldn’t mind giving him: pig, mouse and rooster.

That’s somewhere between five and eight miraculi simultaneously on the first day he has used a miraculous. If it wasn’t for his sentimonster regeneration, he would just die instantly, and he doesn’t even know about it beforehand.

Having swallowed his amok, with the Ox cutting him off from the peacock (making it impossible for him to get Thanos snapped) and the rest of his miraculi powering him up, the newly named Baskerville decides to just take the brooch from Gabriel.

It doesn’t go great.

Felix gets caught in a trap almost immediately and in the time it takes for him to escape, Gabriel has transformed, akumatised Nathalie into Domain and given her a sentimonster. Thus begins the most interesting fight I’ve foreshadowed in the posts about world building and powers.

Shadowmoth has all the same advantages he and Mayura had in the season 3 finale fight.

Domain has the ability to possess and alter the layout of the mansion, as long as she’s inside of the property.

The sentimonster (I haven’t thought of a name for it, suggestions are appreciated) has a space warping power that only works inside of the property. More specifically, it can change what doors lead to what room and the size of the rooms and hallways.

Baskerville has unlimited uses of the powers of all the previously mentioned miraculi.

During the fight, We finally get a look at how unhinged Felix trully is and why. He screams out about how awful it was growingg up with him. Being forced to obey every unreasonable expectation just for being alive, suffering every humiliating punishment for not reaching them, having his memories tampered with when he lashed out at him.

Using so many miraculi like that is putting him in excruciating pain, but it’ll be worth it if he finally gets to have control. It’ll be worth every lie, every scam, every underhanded bullshit trick he’s had to rely on to survive. He will not be controlled by anyone else again. He’s killed one rich jackass to get control of his life, he’ll do it again.

After some careful retrieval from team Moth (by which I mean they cut off his limbs), Felix is left with only the fox and the ox. In a last-ditch effort, he takes a punch to the face from Shadowmoth, losing the ox but getting the peacock. After that he immediately runs away.

In the meantime, the Hero Squad has caught on to the fight happening in the manor and is about to capture him. Gabriel is too injured to continue, so he hands all the miraculi to Nathalie so she can continue the job. The season ends with Nathalie using the Dog miraculous to get the crystal coffin out of the basement into an obscure warehouse one day the company and Gabriel surrounded by all the active heroes.

Things I didn’t elaborate on above:

-Marinette detransformed in front of Adrien because doing it quickly is more important than letting the miracle be stolen. Adrien promptly reveals his identity to her. This is how they find out Felix is a trick ass bitch.

-Felix is the only sentikid. There’s no SentiKagami, SentiChloe or SentiAdrien. It’s just him. He was made by Colt because him and Amelie were having trouble having children and is based on Adrien. Felix has… feelings about the person he’s a magical clone of.

-Felix’s amok is not the ring, it can be any random object, but it’s something that he carries with him almost religiously after he shows up in S4.

-Felix killed Colt. This would be implied subtly throughout the season and finally confirmed during the final fight. He poisoned his food to do it.

-Colt used the amok to mess with Felix’s memories rather often, so he’s not a reliable narrator about a lot of things. I really want to lean into the existential horror of not knowing how reliable his own memories really are.

-Felix suspects Adrien is Chat Noir but he is not completely certain.

-

GOD this is so much more fascinating than Canon.

Hi regular followers!! I’m so sorry if you've been here a long time, because I don't have much updates on my ~classic~ gameplays and saves and they just...... won't be. For a while.

Not So Perry... I have a bit of Gen 4 but I haven't played in a whiiiiile so. I might revisit that/redo/we'll see.

Star x Crossed is indefinitely on hold - I will probably revise how that was posting because the full episodes just aren't possible right now. I might do it more as like... an edit type thing, where the edits tell the stories or whatever. It SUCKS because I had really big hopes and dreams for that save and instead I... had a child.

The Nobel ABCs will return because I have 10 generations done in game. I just need to queue.

Maggie's Wonderful Life WILL eventually be done LMAO. I'm hoping to get back into that save soonish. I LOVE farming gameplay! So I want to play/finish it. I had about half of the introductions shot before I got distracted with other things and then... well. yeah.

New saves? When I manage to play, I play a lot of newer saves LMAO. Mostly because when I have time right now I need... something easy.

I decided I like doing this once a year Simmancy Newsletter during my favorite time of the year. Halloween remains the BEST season, and there's also no guarantee I won't drop off the face of the planet again.

Obv the main thing is that, as previously stated, I had a baby. A whole ass baby. She's now 3 months old, and she is so much in the best way. We're currently teething and if you're like "Kit that seems a bit early," you're absolutely right but this is the lot I've drawn in life. She likes to be sat up, and stood up, and to talk to the Baby in the Mirror. She also is obsessed with trees and the cat. I know new moms are annoying and I'm absolutely that annoying new mom, I literally cannot shut up about her and therefore make my sims blog also about her.

I go back to work next month and I'm absolutely dreading it. Can I just be a sim and have someone press motherlode for me? Please?

Otherwise, there's very little in Kit World. The past 6 simblr years remain wonderful, and I've met some of my best friends on here. I go between BG3 and Sims when I have game time (which isn't a lot because Baby Simmancy is increasingly awake and mobile). I WISH I had more time to hang around here but maybe in a year or so.

Anyway, that’s my update of the year. Happy spooky season everybody! I hope it’s a good one!

03/08/23. HELLO, HELLO, HELLO, ALL, LONG LONG LONG TIME, NO SEE. ♡ Can you believe it? When I first published this story (first to tumblr, then to ao3), I had just moved to Japan! When I posted ch. 7, I was still living in Japan, and would stay there for another 7ish months... and in the 5 years and 4 months since posting the last chapter, I have moved to three different cities in the United States and started a Ph.D. program. (I am currently halfway through my PhD program!!!!!) What a wild ride. Also, we lived through the pandemic?! And I bought a house! Over the summer! The market was vicious.

So, then how did I get the inspiration/time/energy/motivation to write Ch. 8, you ask? Marvelous question. I lied down in bed last night to go to sleep "early" and ended up reading an utterly hilarious play-by-play commentary on Bad Books, Good Times of a popular fantasy novel series—and I'm not quite sure what it was about "poorly written books explained by hilariously clever book lovers" but I suddenly had a craving for fanfiction, so I opened up my Books app on my phone, and my eyes fell upon a sudden recommendation for my downloaded copy of technical difficulties. And I thought, "Am I suddenly and weirdly in the mood to jot down some notes to start Ch. 7 right now? By golly, I think I am."

4.5 hours later, I'd written the whole damn thing from scratch on my phone in my Notes app. (Messily! Half-assed! But I wrote all of it down!) I then spent another 6.5 hours today filling in the gaps and "editing." This chapter (and the one that will follow it) has been in my head for more than half a decade, but I just haven't had the space to get it out until now!!

I think one of the most beautiful parts of getting a PhD is how completely it blows your perfectionism tendencies utterly to bits, and one of the really interesting byproducts that has come up in my acdemic writing is just how quickly I can crank out decent-enough writing (skill-building!!). In my case, I think so much of it has to do with just being able to word vomit fairly well while not trying to fix anything until the whole damn thing is basically done. So, I applied that knowledge here! Behold!

This isn't to say that I'll be writing the final chapter anytime soon—I may be on spring break right now and may have had a stroke of Writing Inspiration in the Wild™ last night, but I'm still finishing my last semester of classes and learning advanced Python and working on my milestone paper for my doctoral program and preparing to present at my next conference in June and preparing my proposal for my dissertation next fall. BUT! The important thing is that I will post the last chapter of this story (and all my other stories)! Eventually!! ;)

No BETA for this chapter because I gotta THROW this out onto the internet and get back to coding, so bear with! I may do minor edits for it in the near or distant future. Also, please note that I have not watched any episodes of Miraculous Ladybug after the finale of Season 1, so this fic is very much a ~time capsule~ from the past. If there is any additional lore that might otherwise apply to the plot of this fic, please know that I don't know about it, and I am keeping myself selectively ignorant on all matters of Miraculous Ladybug season 2 and beyond until after I finish this story the way I originally intended. ♡ Woo!

a little comic self-promo!

Hi! For those of you who don't know, I currently run a webcomic called Another Story, which is hosted on Webtoon Canvas.

I've been working on the story for around 4 years now, and the comic itself has been running for almost 2 now. It is my absolute pride and joy and I have put so much of myself into working on this project. You can find it here:

I am notoriously bad at self promoting, but I wanted to give a few reasons why I think you might enjoy it!!

I was inspired by various cartoon series that follow a serialized setup despite starting off more episodic. I've always been a big fan of shows that start off simply and plant the seed for some later lore that gradually builds over the course of a season. (Shows like Gravity Falls, Adventure Time, Steven Universe, etc. really inspired me to use this style when I first started development)

It has a fun, unique artstyle! I am not trying to toot my own horn, but one thing that I like about my comic is the uniqueness of the character designs. The fact that every character is a part of a diverse alien species and there are no human or earth-based references is interesting and fun. (Considering this is a long term project, you can see how the style and designs have evolved a bit since the first few pages.) If you follow me already because you like my art, you can like my art over and over and over again if you decide to read Another Story.

So much lore and worldbuilding. One of my favorite things in media that I enjoy is some worldbuilding you can really sink your teeth into. It's the kind of thing that really makes me want to theorize and observe and analyze.... which is exactly what I've tried to do when building the world of the Araelian system.

Positive LGBTQ+ representation! I know that this is no longer rare in webcomic spaces, but I still thought I'd mention it as a point. I think it is nice to read a story every now and then where an LGBT character's main arc doesn't have to be about actively struggling with their identity, it is simply another thing that adds on to who they are as a character.

It is silly....until it is not. It has a lot of tone variation ranging from really conversational-style comedy writing to some edge-of-your-seat, earth-shattering intense drama later on. Best of both worlds and I am hoping to give each and every one of my readers some tonal whiplash when the proverbial ball drops.

It's got Umbot in it. Everyone seems to like that guy.

One thing that I have really struggled with on the comic however is growth. I have promoted it on my Insta quite a bit and it never seems to get any traction. It has been the slowest climb imaginable to 100 subs over the course of 2 years. With 4 completed episodes (comparable to cartoon episodes) and around 50 individual updates, this is not all that much. I really care so much about this project and would appreciate any sort of support at all, especially subscribing to the comic itself on Webtoon!

Nothing can stop me from making more Another Story, however. My loyal fanbase of roughly 10 people and my brain that cannot cease AS-related thoughts for more than 5 minutes will not allow me to do so. So read it, or don't! But if you do I'm sure you won't regret it! :D

WHIPLASH | Chapter 1

Eddie Munson x Fem! Reader

Summary: A season 4 fix-it fic with an ‘x reader’ insert because it destroyed me and I still need comfort months later.

You sit in your seat, knee bouncing up and down quickly in a feeble attempt to release some pent up energy. Your teacher drones on and on about a topic you quite frankly don't care enough about to pay any attention to. Instead, your focus is on your notes, or what little you have of them, anyway. You stopped writing nearly twenty minutes ago, opting instead to scribble little stars and hearts in the margins of your notebook. You've never been one to enjoy math. You understood it to a relatively impressive degree according to your peers, but you failed to see the intrigue that few people had it in it. English and Art are more your speed, mostly because you love to create.

You sigh and look up towards the window for what you think has to be the fiftieth time in the passed half an hour, displeased but not surprised to find that the parking lot is the same as it was the last time you checked. God, this day could not move any slower if it tried.

As if on cue, the shrill sound of the bell makes you jump and breathe a sigh of relief, quickly collecting your things and getting the hell out of that godforsaken classroom. You're met with the regular cacophony of noise as you weave through the sea of bodies towards the cafeteria. You have to dodge a few people as they nearly walk straight into you, seemingly none the wiser to your presence despite the fact that they came within centimetres of you. You try to get to your locker to drop off a few textbooks but find that your neighbours are currently looking through theirs. Coming to the conclusion that the space between them isn't wide enough to reach yours, you stand behind them and shift your weight between your feet awkwardly. As confident as you may seem to others, you really couldn't feel further from it sometimes.

There's a word for how you're feeling right now. A feeling of being out of place, a persistent voice in the back of your head that tells you that you're not supposed to be here. That you should just leave before people start getting annoyed with you for standing still in the hallway.

Monachopsis

That's the word. Fitting, you think, as one of the people blocking your path finally departs and allows you to open your own locker. You make quick work of stuffing a couple textbooks inside and grabbing a small paper bag before continuing on your way. 

When you finally reach your destination, your gaze automatically slides to your regular table and the feeling begins to dissipate.  The Hellfire club, lead by your childhood best friend and town pariah, Eddie "The Freak" Munson, has become your tight knit group of friends. You find that with them, you feel like you belong, even despite not knowing all that much about D&D.

"Look who it is," The metal head smiles as you take your place between him and Garreth, "What took you so long?"

"Had to drop some stuff off, sorry." He nods and hums in acknowledgement as you reach across the table to steal a couple of Jeff's M&M's, drawing a comically high pitched whine of protest from the victim of your heinous crime. You pull out your lunch bag while Eddie flips through a magazine you're not familiar with.

"Guys, listen to this," Eddie scoffs, clearing his throat to proceed with what you can only assume is about to be a dramatic monologue, "Dungeons and dragons."

Yup, there it is.

You snort at the deep, theatrical voice he's taken on and Gareth elbows you in the side, earning himself a hushed but curt, "Watch it, asshole."

"At first regarded as a harmless game of make believe, now has both parents and psychologists concerned. You all laugh at the absurdity of the article when out of the corner of your eye, you spot the two freshman Eddie had welcomed into the group standing just a few feet away, looking like they're about to piss their pants. You shoot them a look of confusion but they keep their eyes on the floor as they scurry over to sit adjacent to you.

"Society has to blame something. We're an easy target." Jeff adds and Eddie nods his head in agreement.

"Exactly. We're the freaks because we like to play a fantasy game. But," You jump in your seat when Eddie slams a hand down on the table before climbing on top of it, "As long as you're in to band, or science, or partiieess."

You chuckle at the nasally tone he says it in, watching him walk to the end of the table and cup his hands to his mouth, "Or a game where you toss BALLS INTO LAUNDRY BASKETS!"

Jason Carver stands up from his table to yell at your eccentric friend from across the room, "You want something, freak?"

Eddie's response is to stick his tongue out and put his fingers up against the side of his head like devil horns, clearly pissing the jock off but not enough for the situation to escalate further. Eddie smirks at him as he huffs and sits back down to talk heatedly amongst his friends before turning around to walk back down the table, "It's forced conforming."

"That's what's," He hops down to the floor and yells in the direction of a teacher, scaring the shit out of her, "KILLING THE KIDS!"

Everyone at the table laughs as he steps back and gestures for two cheerleaders to walk passed him before taking his seat, "That's the real monster."

There's a short moment of silence before Dustin hesitantly breaks it, "So, uh, speaking of monsters. Um, Lucas has to do his, uh... balls-in-laundry-baskets game. So," The poor boy looks like he's about to be eaten alive as he titters out his next sentence, "He's not gonna be able to make it to hellfire tonight."

You chance a glance at Eddie to find he has a very unimpressed look on his face as he munches on a single bag of walnuts. You slide him your yogurt and a spoon while Dustin continues talking, nodding when Eddie throws a quick, "Thanks," your way.

"And I know there's no way we can beat your sadistic campaign without him. So, me and Mike. We were talking, shooting the shit, and we were thinking that we... m-maybe we might..."

"Postpone?" Mike finishes, sending the table into an uproar of protests.

“Postone?!”

“Over my dead body!”

"I worked for weeks re-painting your figures!" You exclaim alongside everyone else before Eddie cuts you all off.

"Shut up!" You share a disgruntled look with Garreth before turning your attention back to the dungeon master, "You saying Sinclair's been taken in by the dark side?"

“Uhh, something like that?”

"Something like that?" He echoes, tossing a nut at the boys and earning a high pitched, "Jesus Christ," from Dustin, "And rather than find a sub for him, you want... you want to postpone, the cult of Vecna?"

"I- I don't want to postpone it, we don't want to postpone it," Eddie pushes away from the table with a screech from his chair and stands up, "It's just that, you know, most of the subs will be at the championship game."

He whips back around to face the boys and you swear you see them flinch, "Oh, it's the championship game?"

“Yeah?”

"Can I level with you? Jeff graduates this year. Garreth's got, what, a year and a half?" He walks behind you and you crane your neck to watch him as he goes, "Me? I am army crawling my way towards a 'D' in Miss O'Donnel's. If I don't blow her final, I'm gonna walk that stage next month, I'm gonna look principal Higgins dead in the eye. I'm gonna flip him the bird," He raises his middle finger as he slowly turns around to the rest of you, "I'm gonna snatch that diploma and I'm gonna run like hell outta here!”

You chuckle at his little jog as Gareth speaks up, "Didn't you say that last year?"

Now it's your turn to elbow him in the side.

"Yeah, Yeah, and I was full of shit!" He exclaims, jogging back down to your table, slowly turning to survey the cafeteria, "This year's different. This year is my year. I can feel it."

He turns around and grins at you, "'86, baby."

It makes you happy knowing he's so optimistic about graduating this year. You can't count the amount of times you've had to reassure him that he isn't stupid over the years.

"Y'know what that means?" he settles his gaze on the freshman once more, coming around to squat between them and place each hand on one of their shoulders, "It means that you boys are the future of hellfire. I knew it the moment I saw you. You were sat at that table right over there looking like two little lost sheep. You were wearing a Weird Al T-shirt, which I thought was brave."

Dustin replies with a tense, “Thank you.”

"And you," He turns to Mike, "You were wearing whatever shit your mommy bought you from the goddamn Gap!"

You snort along with your friends at his comment, remembering exactly what outfit he was talking about. Suddenly, he's pulling them up by the backs of their shirts like you would a puppy by the scruff of it's neck, "We showed you that school didn't have to be the worst years of your lives, right?"

He gets two soft, “No”’s in response.

"Well, I'm here to tell you, that there are other lost little sheepies out there who need help. Who need you, and all you guys gotta do is get your Bo Peeps on and go find one." And with that, he shoves them forward to start their quest.

He rounds the table to plop back down in his seat and you give his shoulder a half hearted shove, "You didn't have to scare them so bad. Poor little shits looked like they were about to piss themselves."

"Not scaring. Motivating, princess." He smirks at the way you frown at the nickname.

"Watch yourself, Munson." You say as you roll your eyes and feign indifference. In reality, your heart flutters and your cheeks flush at the nickname, but you pray he doesn't notice.

"You coming to Hellfire tonight?" He asks, peeling the top off the yogurt you'd given him and taking a spoonful.

"I don't know, I don't wanna intrude-." He scoffs at you as if you'd just said something absolutely ludicrous.

"Y/n, you're a member. You can't intrude on a club meeting if you're apart of the club."

"Yeah, but I don't even play."

"Sure, but you help me write the campaigns, paint our figures, make us dice-."

"Okay, I'll come!" You laugh and he grins at you, "Speaking of dice, I actually have something for you guys."

They all lean in to get a better look at what you're doing as you rummage through your backpack for that paper bag you grabbed earlier. When you find what you're looking for, you sit back up and reach inside to remove a black box in the shape of a coffin. They all watch you curiously as you hand it to Eddie, "I know I gave you a set last month but since this is the end of your campaign, I wanted to make something special."

"That's very sweet of you, princess, but you really didn't have-," When he opens to the lid, his eyes blow wide and his lips part in what you hope is awe. The set of dice inside are made of a combination of black and red resin, the numbers painted in a shiny silver. On the inside of the lid, the name of their band, Corroded Coffin, is painted in the exact font they had chosen for the posters they had hung up around town.

"You made this?" He asks, looking at you like you'd just handed him the Mona Lisa. Gareth and Jeff are now urging him to show them, and when he turns it around to show them they look just as shocked as he is.

“Are you serious?”

“Those are fuckin’ metal!”

"Thanks." You giggle bashfully, cheeks and ears heating at the onslaught of praise.

"How long did it take you to make these?" Eddie asks, brushing his fingertips over the dice.

"Not too long. Two weeks max." You reply nonchalantly, popping an M&M into your mouth as he looks back up at you.

He really isn't sure what to say. You've made dice for them several times before but this feels different somehow. Normally, your dice were pretty generic. Either solid colours or a marbled mix of different ones. Never had you ever put this much time and effort into a set, especially with the damn near exact copy of their band name that you had hand painted on the lid. Part of him doesn't even want to use them in fear of damaging them.

"Thank you. Really, this is just... holy shit." He chuckles, shutting the lid and slipping them into his bag.

"'Course. I had to do something to mark the big finale." You smile, resting your chin on your palm before jerking your nose towards his backpack, "You better use them tonight."

He places one hand on his chest dramatically and takes yours in his other, "You have my word, fair maiden."

"Good." You laugh as the bell rings to mark the end of lunch. He pulls his hand from yours to pack up his things as you and the others follow suit. You stand and sling your backpack over your shoulder, "I'll see you guys after school."

“Yeah.”

“See ya.”

You turn and begin walking towards the doors before spinning on your heels to face Eddie again, continuing to walk backwards, "If you lose those, I'll kick your ass!"

“Ooh, is that a promise?”

“Suck my dick, Jackass!” You laugh.

“Don’t tempt me, L/n!” He hollers back.

You flip him the bird and he gives it right back, his smile damn near blinding you before you finally make it to the doors and slip back into the crowded hall to make your way to class.

what's up i'm still very ill with this bug/flu/whatever and i'm going to start binging all of good omens season 2 in a minute. but to spare you all 59850 posts on your dash about something you might not care about, i will instead use this post to liveblog! i will be going back to this post and editing it with every update, so if you're interested in hearing my thoughts you can come back here (and if you're not it should be easy to avoid)

here goes!

update #1: when i started watching i SWORE to myself i would let it all play out before obsessively rewinding the bits i liked after it was all over. less than 2 minutes in and i failed.

"I'd hate to see you getting into any trouble." now what if i chewed my arm off.

update #2: crowley shielded aziraphale first before aziraphale shielded him in the garden of eden???? what if i cried.

update #3: the power is finally back so i've finished episode 1. all this talk about the book of life is raising my goddamn hackles. terrified to see how it comes into play. it's very interesting to me that crowley hasn't told aziraphale about it, too. i personally think aziraphale would still hide gabriel even if he knew about the extreme sanctions.

also, shelly conn is fabulous but i feel her version of beelzebub is *much* more animated than anna maxwell martin's. she's incredible and i love all her mannerisms but at the same time i was very attached to the stoicness of the previous beelzebub so it'll take a little bit to get used to.

update #4: aziraphale doing the little 'one two three four' with his finger before singing to maggie. he's so precious to me he's the specialiest little guy in the world for me and i understand crowley because i, too, would get into trouble with both heaven and hell to keep aziraphale safe

update #5: episode two done. thoughts:

1- this is just a romcom isn't it. i mean.

2- the music that played while aziraphale said crowley needed to take him to hell invokes the music that played during the bandstand scene in episode 3 of season one. i LOVE each and every scene that examines the themes of 'your side, my side, our side' <3

update #6: i'm (not unpleasantly!) surprised that they're addressing aziraphale's classist rant from the book. on one hand i'd just considered it one of the things the adaptation decided to do away with, but now that they've acknowledged it, i'm now very excitedly anticipating a resolution to that conflict. because if i remember correctly in the book the matter didn't really get resolved, aziraphale just dropped this bombshell on me and i had to put the book down for a minute lol

i guess they've been hinting at beelzebub spying on the bookshop using the flies, but i'm curious as to why they would have that knowledge and pretend they didn't. what's the benefit for playing coy here? either there is, and we don't know what that is yet, or the flies are a red herring.

update #7: finished episode 3 and i'm honestly not sure i understood a lot of it! what happened to crowley after falling through the gorund?? did they send him to the pit of torture or whatever for stopping the suicide? also aziraphale is my favourite character but if he says something like "the virtues of poverty" again i'm going to bite his head off. anyway. crowley. don't you know you're a fictional character and that according to all laws of fiction, if you say "if any harm comes to aziraphale" it means it's probably gonna happen? smh

update #8: i still haven't watched any more since last update but. oh dear. i'm too worried to click 'next episode' because 1- the more it dawns on me what might've happened to crowley after getting pulled into the ground i get so hopelessly depressed and 2- 'it's too late. it's always too late' is a very worrying note to end on and i'm positively terrified!! for future reference don't watch anything emotional or worrisome while having a stomach bug. i'm writhing in my seat lol.

Hello sorry to bother you with this all of sudden ,and this might be coming out of nowhere, and I’m not trying to force you or be pushy but I m trying to get more people into this show with great potential. If your not interested it’s fine but Have you heard of or watched moon girl and devil dinosaur? Season 2 comes out tomorrow February 2. 

The main character i love she gives me autistic vibes I’m autistic. The show has interesting characters, action ,great music, and animation ,good themes and representation, Anime references, it even has an eyecatch season 2 is going to be more story driven if you find that interesting. It also shares the same animation studio as rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles.

It be good if you watch the first 2 season 2 episode when they air so the ratings will be higher. And watch the other season 2 episodes when they air.

I think Disney might be trying to sabotage the show with them probably dropping 14 episodes on Disney + on February 3. They did similar with season 1 and the ratings where low ,please watch season 2 episodes when they air on. But more importantly also watch it on Disney + on feb 3 and when they air it on YouTube. Unfortunately they are dropping 14 episodes on Disney + so watch them all in one day but also when they air the first time.

I’m not just saying only cable just also. I’m saying please support this show. Despite that it still won 5 Emmys. Also if it’s no trouble could if it alright with you spread the word about this show to others you know like either online or irl. Time is limited!

Hello! Thank you for the ask. I had been planning on watching Moon Girl for a while due to how amazing the clips of it I saw were but unfortunately due to current events I will not be watching it. Due to Israel’s current genocide against the Palestinian people, particularly in Gaza, me and many other people are participating in the BDS movement. A boycott campaign in order to divest funds from Israel. Here’s a link to it.

As people found out more about this many of us, including myself, have canceled our Disney + subscriptions as solidarity to this movement and because Disney is listed as a pressure target. Now recently they have also announced to FULLY boycott any marvel products because currently in the new Captain America 4 movie there is a character named Sabra who is an IDF soldier/terrorist and is essentially a PR Zionist “hero” for Israel. Because of this people have been telling Marvel to take her out COMPLETELY from the movie but they have currently not budged. So BDS has since called to boycott ALL things Marvel until this character is taken out. And that includes comics, movies, merchandise, and of course TV shows. Which means most likely Moon Girl is a part of the boycott list especially considering her show is on Disney + too. So the only way I would be watching this show would be through pirating. After this post I will not be promoting any Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur or any Marvel Content until Marvel removes the character Sabra from Captain America 4. I’m sorry if this isn’t the response you were hoping for but I hope this may lead you to joining this boycott as well and maybe even incline you to start educating yourself more on the genocide that is taking place right now as well as helping in ending Israeli occupation of Palestine.

If you are in the US like me you can actually download the 5 calls app in order to call our congress people and government to call for a permanent ceasefire and to not use our tax money to keep funding this white supremacist settler colony into existence. It even gives you a script on exactly what to say when you call.

My typical way of experiencing... well, everything, if we're honest... is to avoid having any expectations. It's something I learned how to do, and I stick to it pretty well. While it was originally mostly a bulwark against a chaotic childhood making my lil autistic ass have to figure out how to do without any sort of routine, the most profound effect it has these days is drastically increasing my enjoyment of media.

The only time I find myself disappointed with something, in that sense, is when they do something that it literally would have been better to have done nothing at all. Solmare has managed to do this a few times.

And YET. Here I am. I think so much about Obey Me that I can't help but speculate, and I've gone and got my hopes up because I've realized that there are some really fucking cool things they could do. I'm feverish, so this might get long... gunna put it under a cut.

So. I started playing the OG Obey Me about a year and a half ago. The fourth season either came out right as I started, or was already out. I never was really effected by the wait time for the next season drop, and the limbo that left fans in, so I get that my perspective is different than most.

But my perspective is this: they had a cool story with some neat concepts, both story-wise meta game stuff, but the game play was so ass it could barely be called game play, the balancing is insane (I've scraped through the main story using countless glow sticks but most of the extra lessons are still beyond me will full teams of lvl 100+ cards), and they'd written themselves into several corners they didn't know how to get out of.

Then they released Nightbringer. It has it's issues, sure, but as a game? I enjoy it about 1000% more than OG. The story is one of being thrown back in time and trying to find your way home, which we managed last chapter. On April 13th, the game will have been out one year. I think that's when they'll drop the next season but...

It would be so wildly cool if they also merged the games. The MC's just returned to the timeline from OG, supposedly, though hadn't Solomon suggested that... y'know, everyone had noticed you disappearing? OG is at it's end of life. It's pretty clear they're going to shut it down at some point. I want, so so so badly, for 4/13 to hit, a massive update to be available, and the entirety of OG's story line to have been ported to NB. I want the accounts to merge together. I want to have all my cards and I want there to be a new Nightmare chapter with all the old cards from OG and I want the plot moving forward to be a mess of scrambled timeline shit, trying to figure out who NB is, and stress. From a game dev perspective, they have the chance to do something so so wildly awesome and I KNOW they won't. I KNOW I'm going to be disappointed. But FUCK it'd be cool...

I have so many ideas on how it could be done... and I'm well aware it'd probably piss a lot of people off still, but people are pissed off anyways. I think it'd make more people happy than it did angry.

And I know some people don't like Ruri-tunes but like... at least it's a game. I'm no huge fan of rhythm games tbh. I honestly hated them before Ruri-tunes, but I disliked the dance battles so much that I've started liking rhythm games more just because it was suck an upgrade imo

Anyways. That's the end of my rant. I want them to do meta shit that ties into their story basically. Thank you for coming to Mal's fever talk.

《The Mandalorian》『SEASON 3 : Episode 8 - Chapter 24』-「THE RETURN」

SPOILERS!

Thoughts on rewatch……

This episode picks up where last episode leaves off. Did not expect the jetpack to last that long for Axe; given that the fleet was just outside atmosphere.

Bo Katan has a plan. Normally, her plans (just like anyone else’s plans) don’t quite go as intended. But she’s confident, and sends Axe up to the ship.

Ever the leader, she charges in but brings up the rear, setting a detonator charge to buy her some time.

Din is bound between two troopers, and we get a first-person POV from inside his helmet. I’d assumed one’s line of sight from inside the helmet wasn’t much, but I’m wrong.

Din asks Grogu, “You with me?” The music soars from the drums (important later), straight into the theme music.

Din contacts Bo-Katan and lets her know he and Grogu are okay for the time being, and tells her what he’s doing. She updates him on her plan, and tells him to “stay safe”. No surprise, the camera immediately cuts to the Captain, and the crew leaves their current predicament.

Next scene is the TIE/IN Interceptors. They hang upside down like bats, and they drop and take off like them too. It ups the scary factor, as they can launch with little notice. We also see bombers screaming skyward to the flagship. The shot of numerous TIE fighters shooting out of a hole in Mandalore’s surface is just… something else to see.

Gideon puts on his helmet, and when he says “I’ll take care of them myself”, he sounds a lot like Darth Vader.

The shots of R5, Din, and Grogu sneaking around the base feels A LOT like the sequence in A New Hope where R2D2, Kenobi, Han, Luke, and Chewbacca are sneaking around the Death Star. It’s also interesting how Din speaking to Grogu is sort of a meta-narration, so we learn the details the same time Grogu is hearing it.

Axe notifies command, and sends all his troops down to the planet. He orders them to leave the capital ship. At this point I’m thinking, “Axe is crazy! That’s incredibly self-sacrificing!” But then I remember loyalty is one of the best traits any Mandalorian has, so it’s no surprise he’s willing to do what it takes to help defeat Gideon and his army. Axe’s troops head down to the waiting Gauntlets, and they dive toward the surface. The Gauntlets are accompanied by several smaller fighter ships. I really love the shot where the Gauntlets descend to the planet, the camera lingers above the clouds, and not a few seconds later, the TIE Interceptors shoot out from beneath the clouds and up to the capital ship. The Mandos going down, and the Imperials going up, it is a foreshadow for a later scene, but I’ll explain that later. How ships of both parties never hit each other is beyond me, but smart of the Mandos to use the cloud as cover.

Axe trying his damndest to stay put in the pilot’s seat is a feat in and of itself. He’s fighting the fight/flight instinct. I’ve never seen anything like it.

The scene where Din instructs R5 to keep opening the laser shield doors one at a time is pretty intense, it’s like each door he passes, the level of difficulty goes up. The first pair of guards Din fights, he grabs a knife and fights with it momentarily and throws it at one guard, and he tries to get it back, and he fails. He doesn’t let that stop him. He gets another knife from the first downed guard and tells R5 to open shield #2. The weapons get bigger, and the guards get tougher. He fights messy, but acquires an electro-staff and an actual shield. He instructs R5 to open shield #3. He loses the knife, acquires a blaster. R5 gets intercepted, but does not back down, and opens shield #4. Din loses a shield, but retains the blaster; he shoots the last few guards a few times for good measure. Din now has two blasters. He went from being weaponless to being fully-armed. After all, weapons are part of his religion.

Din and Grogu pass clones of Gideon. This might be a bit of a canonical throwback, but the fact that Gideon has been able to clone himself kind of points to why the Empire, years ago, was looking for Omega from the Bad Batch. She was one of the special ones. Even so, last episode, Gideon says that cloning was not his obsession; clearly that was a lie, but also a misdirect, since he did say about his beskar armor, “the most impressive improvement is that it has me in it.” That, was not a lie. It was a foreshadow. Din shuts down the tanks, which explode, and he and Grogu leave.

Even though Bo and her troops arrive at their very temporary shelter (as they leave literally right after this), it’s not simply just worldbuilding. The Captain explains that though he and his crew have had to cultivate the plants, it was a giant metaphor for just how stubborn Mandalore and its people are. The Empire bombed the planet until it looked like there was nothing left, and yet, and YET people, plants, and animals clung to life. Life on Mandalore does NOT quit. The Captain says, “Life persists.” Bo admits, “I’ve only ever seen gardens in the domed cities.” To which the captain replies, “All they need is room to grow.” Fitting metaphor for the Mandalorians themselves.

Bo’s troops go up, Axe’s troops go down, and they reunite as a single deadly fighting force. Bo takes out the Darksaber - as she believed that it is only with the blade she can reunite her people. This is not really true, and I’ll explain why later. The Mandalorian troops head back down into the planet, and are met with ascending Imperials. Remember the foreshadow earlier when the Gauntlets went down then the TIEs went up? That was a foreshadow for this scene! And what an aerial battle it is. I have never in my life watched a jetpack battle between people in Mandalorian armor. It’s a really awesome scene. The reason why Bo can actually wield the Darksaber is because her goals and feelings regarding her people and her planet are very, very clear - she may not want to rule Mandalore, but she sure as hell wants her home planet and her people back. We hear the frantic but controlled alto instruments, but also the bass line of the Mandalorian theme song playing as the clash begins.

Gideon thought he could “[isolate] the potential to wield the Force” (that’s what he wanted from Grogu a season or two back), but the Force is not something you “get”, it’s something you have. You either have it or you don’t. If you don’t have it you can’t wield it. Gideon’s movements are calculated, controlled rage. His movements sound like there is a robot behind the suit rather than a human, making him seem more menacing. He lets Din face the Praetorians alone. Much like their real world counterparts, Praetorians are elite guards. When Grogu becomes a target, the Guards rush after him. Din tries to run after Grogu, but gets repeatedly downed by Gideon. We see an unnamed Mandolorian warrior make use of her knee blasters. The battle rages on three fronts: The Praetorians are attacking Grogu, Gideon fights Din, and the Mandalorians exchange blaster fire with the Imperials. Bo Katan spears one through the midsection with the Darksaber - brutal, but necessary. She comes in with a flying kick, aided by her jetpack, and downs Gideon. She tells Din to get Grogu. Bo fighting with a saber is definitely NOT the first time we see a non-Force sensitive person wield a saber (see: Han in ESB (briefly), and Sabine Wren in Rebels). Also love how Grogu is just casually using the Force to aid Din, and Din doesn’t even know it (maybe he does).

Meanwhile, the capitol ship is on a downward trajectory that cannot be corrected: this is intentional; Axe meant for this to happen. He will crash the ship into the base, the only way to hurt Gideon where it matters most. Gideon knocks her down, but Bo is furious, gets back up, and lunges. Gideon destroys the Darksaber, removing the one thing Bo thought she could use to reunite her people. Suddenly, she is alone again; in the sense that she theoretically loses authority. Gideon states, “You’ve lost everything.” For context, Obi-Wan had told Anakin in AOTC that a saber is a very precious possession, and extremely meaningful to one’s life. To lose it is tantamount to losing one’s life and meaning. So, to Bo, it’s like she lost everything, all over again. Gideon taunts her, saying “Mandalorians are weak once they lose their trinkets.” This is not true. Last episode, Din told her he’s not loyal to some weapon. The Darksaber means NOTHING to him, and now Bo realizes this. She’s had enough of the power grabs and divisions that the Darksaber has caused between Mandalorians, and she fires back: “Mandalorians are stronger together.” Which is her journey so far. She realizes this only now because if not for what had happened to her, she would not have known this otherwise. The Darksaber is but a mythical weapon, ultimately meaning nothing. Bo has stated last episode, “Mandalore has always been too powerful for any enemy to defeat. It is always our own division that destroys us.” Meaning, the Darksaber is nothing but a curse; without it, the Mandalorians come together NOT BECAUSE OF A BLADE, but to retake their damn homeworld once and for all. Bo did not have to worry about some blade. To nobody’s surprise, the moment she utters this, Din comes marching in with Grogu, blasters firing.

The ship is still going down; at this point I’m thinking, “Axe is on a suicide mission!” But then, right after I finish the thought, he shoots out a window and escapes, free to fight another day. His and Bo’s troops evacuate the base. The ship crashes into the base; Din, Gideon, and Bo face off. Din gets hit on the wrist, and Bo comes to his rescue, shielding him. The place explodes around them, Grogu uses the Force to disadvantage Gideon; Din rushes to protect Grogu, and Bo rushes to protect them both. The flames engulf everyone. It looks like they might not survive this, BUT BUT BUT! Grogu saves the day! He is using the Force to create a bubble to shield Din and Bo. This scene feels so familiar because it feels like a heroic inversion of that one scene in S4E8 of Rebels, “Jedi Night”, where Kanan uses the Force to hold back an explosion to save the Ghost crew but sacrifice himself; here Grogu saves both Bo AND Din from the flames. Bo is astonished; she looks from around her, to Din, and finally down at Grogu, like she can’t believe she’s alive. The flames around them dissipate, and both Mandalorians stand up, and we cut to black. It’s not over.

Remember the drums I mentioned earlier? The Mandos are at the Mines of Mandalore, where Ragnar finally gets to be properly baptized, as his last attempt didn’t go so well. Din practically adopts Grogu right there and then, and the Armorer approves. Someone mentioned once that it took so long for Din to call Grogu his son, because he started off a mission but now Din has grown close enough to basically be a dad. It was about time that happened.

So the thing with names- “Din Grogu”, right? I’m thinking, what if, if “Grogu” is a first name, and “Din” is something like a last name, only put before his first name “Djarin”? Therefore “Din Grogu” would make sense on a lastname-firstname basis. It’s not the same with Bo-Katan, or Axe Woves, or even Sabine Wren, for that matter. If Din and Grogu are a Clan of Two, then clearly it should be called Clan Din. It only makes sense that way, that in Clan Din there is Djarin and Grogu. This is the way names work, I think?

The Armorer states, “You must leave Mandalore and take your apprentice on his journeys, just as your teacher did for you.” And why, you might ask? This is the fulfillment of the Hero’s Journey: the Hero returns to whence he came, after a call to adventure, where he meets supernatural aid and comes across guardians, mentors, and friends; he reaches a revelation, a rebirth, after which he transforms, atones, with the gift of the “Goddess”, and returns. Din had started his journey on the call to adventure, and meets Grogu, his supernatural aid. Greef Karga is his mentor and friend. Bo is also his friend and ally. Din’s revelation is sort of him removing his helmet; his transformation, he changes because of how he feels toward Grogu. However, he must atone for that, so he requests that Bo guide him to the Mines so he can baptize himself in the Living Waters to atone. Then he returns to Mandalore to help fight Gideon, and subsequently also returns to his starting point, as a gunman and bounty hunter for hire.

Bo, the Armorer, and the rest of the Mandalorians meet at the Great Forge, finally able to reclaim Mandalore after so many years. The Armorer hands Bo-Katan Kryze a torch, and she lights the Forge. It roars to life, symbolic of the Mandalorians being one once more. The Mandalorians have finally come home, UNITED, and it wasn’t even a blade that reunited them.

Din returns to the rebel base. Some time passes, and he returns to Nevarro. Greef Karga gifts him a home for between assignments, and Din gifts Karga his IG-11 droid back, but improved. For what is perhaps one of the few moments in his life, Din has peace. He sits outside his new home, his N1 parked just outside, and watches Grogu practice his abilities.

FINISHING THOUGHTS:

1. I loved this episode, largely in part due to the aerial fights and carefully planned shots. The characters I theorized last week could show up, didn’t, and that’s okay. They didn’t, because they didn’t need to.

2. I also loved the foreshadowing, the visual references, the metaphors. I also loved how the Darksaber is no more. Don’t get me wrong, it is an AWESOME weapon, but it has plagued the Mandalorians for far too long, and has been one of the things that divided them. Struggles for power and all that, all for a blade. It took ages of infighting, division, it took Din telling Bo that the blade didn’t matter to him; it took Gideon finally destroying the very thing that divided the people of Mandalore, for Bo-Katan Kryze to finally, FINALLY, realize that Mandalorians are stronger together. It’s not that she didn’t know, it was that she chased after the blade like her people before her did; now that she doesn’t even have it, she doesn’t even need it! And she is still able to unite her people! WITHOUT THE BLADE!

3. Something about the Great Forge being “the heart of our civilization” (per Axe, last episode), and the Mandalorian creed vows about the words being forged into their hearts, I’m not quite sure how to put into words this association but there’s certainly something there.

Geogradient Shawl is complete! I slowed down a lot at the end, but I accidentally added two extra rows between dip rows on clue 4. Looks like it blocked out alright and I honestly don’t mind how it looks so I’ve decided to keep it. I’ll add fringe once it’s dry and call it complete!

Anyway, more thoughts about this project under the cut

The pattern is.. not my favourite from Westknits, but definitely not a bad one. The pattern itself was decently written but there was a discrepancy between clues 1 and 2 regarding which colours to use. I’m not too upset about that because of the shitshow that was clue 1 but I do hope it gets updated eventually. Subsequent clues were updated, but I mostly went by the pattern and didn’t check the ravelry group all that much so I ended up using less colour C and D in the design as a result. Another part of the pattern that irked me somewhat was the right handed language used. This is pretty standard for knitting patterns but idk I was hoping a big designer like Stephen West would at least be able to use more neutral language so as to not confuse me lol. The original clue 1 was especially confusing as I had to construct it in the opposite direction.

The first two clues were a bit boring tbh. Westknits MKAL patterns always seem to be full of wacky stitches and cool colour play but this one felt like a slog until I got to clue 3. Again, I blame the part 1 shitshow for this and I do understand that it’d be a huge pain to have to rewrite an entire part of your pattern in a few hours. I adore the Granny Square alternative clue 1 and honestly wish I had seen it before deciding what to do with mine but oh well lol. Overall, pattern is ok. I already have a triangular shawl so I was hoping the would be a different shape, so clue 4 was a pleasant surprise!

Now when I got up to the horizontal floats and dip stitches, I was a bit wary because while they look pretty, I feel like this shawl is going to catch on eeeeeveeything. I don’t know how much I’ll wear it, it might be a special occasion kinda shawl.

The yarn I used was too thin. The result was nice and airy with a good drape, but it does make the floats and dips a little less impactful than I’ve seen on other finished geogradients. I didn’t buy a kit from my lys but my lys was selling kits of this yarn. Otherwise the yarn is lovely and soft. I have about 150g leftover (not including the scraps I plan to turn into fringe) so I’ll have to think of something to do with them. I don’t think they’re going to play ball with my other fingering weight scraps. It was also a bitch to frog and would get fuzzy at the drop of a hat thanks to the alpaca content.

Overall I enjoyed this project though. Would I do another MKAL? Probably not. At least not for a while. I think I’d rather wait for the design to be released first. But who knows? I am a slave to my FOMO and there was a lot of that in my geogradient shawl.

Would I make this pattern again? Honestly? Yeah. I think I’d do it with a thicker fingering weight yarn and probably with a proper merino (or merino/nylon at the very least) I’d also do the granny square variant clue 1 and probably the optional mohair part in clue 2 as well. I was a little peeved that optional mohair wasn’t listed in the initial materials but apparently that a weird unwritten rule of an MKAL- Stephen is just happy to drop this info mid project and assumes that every knitter has an extensive stash of yarn they can pull from. Especially mohair, which isn’t something that’s regularly produced in Australia (except for one farm in QLD) so it’s all imported and all expensive.

It’s a pity, because the mohair dares I saw looked gorgeous.

Anyway, I’ll add the fringe once it’s dry and probably won’t touch it again for 6 months. That’s another lesson learned: all the trendy patterns on ravelry are seasonal for the northern hemisphere so it’s not worth keeping up with them.
