#I never really talk about EXO much because besides like 4 of them I’m not to familiar with the group
Note
Did you listened to the last EXO album ? If so, what do you think??
I did actually!
I’ve been secretly doing some EXO here and there every once in a while! I really enjoy their music and they have a lot of talent!! (Artificial love and like 20 others are constantly playing because I love them so much)
But yeah I did! I really liked Don’t fight the feeling and Paradise! Which ones were your favorites?
Honestly I’ve been keeping an eye on EXO since this look, you know,,,, back before I knew Baekhyun’s personality and thought there was a chance he was a normal sane human being lol (but isn’t it even better when they aren’t? And honestly what idol is sane anyways?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is still so freaking good as a look, anyways my boy got shipped off to the freaking military rip in peaces my guy 🤟😞
But yeah I thought the album was cute! Plus I got to see Kai and that always makes me happy! And honestly Chanyeol is such a good rapper it’s such a treat to listen to him! And Lay is back!!! I don’t really understand all of what was going on but Lay slaps as a dude and as an artist so I’m stoked! Also I’m looking forward to hearing more from them! (Especially before my boy Kai also gets carted off poor thing :{ ) (GIVE HIM ANOTHER SOLO ALBUM SM!!!!!!!!!)
#Taemin and Baekhyun almost at the same time it’s such a shame :/#(also said in a joking manner good on them for serving even if it’s mandatory) (its respectable you know? anyways)#sorry I probably could have talked about the music itself a bit more lol#my opinion of it is honestly just good generally any EXO is just really good!#I know you got into them such a lot time ago! it’s always been so funny to me that I have all these groups I like but the one extra group#I’ve seen you like the most is one I know only a little about haha#though I think I’ll probably get into them sooner rather than later my friend is basically obsessed with the idea#EXO just has such different vibes from any other group I’ve seen I think I’ve just had no idea what to think of them lol#it probably just wasn’t my time to get into them yet#but also since Lay is back I’m pretty excited#anyways! I don’t think I answered your question in anyway that was helpful… oops lol#also if I start calling you song bird is that weird? I just like the idea because you are tiny and adorable like one#anyhoo just let me know how you feel about it I think it’s cute but obviously you get the final say!#hope you’re doing great! <3 stay healthy and safe! wishing you the best always!!! <333#I never really talk about EXO much because besides like 4 of them I’m not to familiar with the group#I know Kai and Baek mostly from SuperM I know Chanyeol because he’s extremely talented and I know Lay#I can usually identify the other members if pressed but I don’t really know anything much about them#but I remember your favorite is D.O so I’ll keep an eye out for him if I do decide to get into them ^-^#froggy writes

a chanbaek analysis from a veteran exo-l (part 2)
Tumblr media
CLICK HERE TO READ PART ONE
Writing this was a bit harder in comparison to the first part, because I wanted to organize things into a neat timeline, but I ended up not having enough patience for it lol specially because both of ChanBaek's main archive blogs seem to have deleted their pages documenting each date of EXO's early years. Therefore I apologize in advance if this part is a bit more messy. Also, please don't forget that all of this is my opinion and I don't mean for any of it to be taken as truth!
I kind of want to jump from MAMA era directly into Wolf era, since we don't really have a lot of cover regarding their debut phase besides Chanyeol's overeagerness and Baekhyun's awkwardness towards it, so to sum it up, I felt as if Chanyeol was more confident and consistent on what he thought an idol should act like, while Baekhyun (sweet, innocent Baekhyun who was a trainee for less than a year!) was still unsure on how to act on camera.
On the few early variety shows/interviews EXO appeared on, the members always pointed out how funny Baekhyun was, how good he'd be at variety and at doing imitations, but he never really lived up to all the praise on camera, although off of it, he most likely was as good as his members claimed.
He was a bit stiff on his early days in comparison to what we see today, and that's normal, I guess, since he debuted really quickly, but when you compare him to Chanyeol the contrast is so interesting, because the latter was able to latch on to a persona as soon as the public gave him one, while to me, Baekhyun was still doubtful regarding what to put on display. In the end, deep inside, Baekhyun is a private person, and was even more so when he wasn't confident enough to talk to fans like he does today.
Once again, I’m sorry for not being able to upload the gifs directly into the post, so I’ll just link them like I did on my last one.
This is another one of the moments where Baek appears to tell Chanyeol to just. Hold on for a bit.
There's another one similar to this where Chanyeol does the same thing (try to whisper on Baekhyun's ear) and Baekhyun fake laughs and stares at a fan's camera right after. Then, his expression just goes blank. It's really interesting to watch because you can just see the gears spinning on Chanyeol's brain as he stares at Baekhyun for a second and clearly thinks alright, fanservice time, and leans in to whisper something: it happens so fast you just know it wasn't genuine whispering, just a playful interaction for the fans, and Baekhyun's direct stare to the camera as soon as it happens just confirms this for me.
1: Chanyeol spots his target.
Tumblr media
2: He’s really thinking this through.
Tumblr media
3: Baek's in a perfect position for whispering-time, so he leans in and does his thing.
Tumblr media
4: Baekhyun laughs.
Tumblr media
5: And stares directly at a fan's camera.
Tumblr media
6: Immediately regrets his life choices. Chanyeol looks pleased.
Tumblr media
It's actually better to watch the whole thing, so I'll leave it here. (starts on 0:28!)
(Random note: on this date EXO perfomed a cover of H.O.T's We Are The Future, and I feel like a lot of new EXO-Ls have not seem it and I adore this performance, so I'll link it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1-z4s3fdgo)
Now let's jump on to Wolf era, shall we?
Wolf era
I can't help but laugh when I think about how wild 2013 was for both EXO and EXO-Ls. They had their first hit song (which was Growl, not Wolf) the fandom grew considerably, shippers where just discovering the cute ISAC moments between "BaekYeol" and "HunHan"... Or at least that's how everyone remembers most of what happened during that year.
Are we forgetting the rumoured ChanBaek fight?
Considering their past interactions on airports, SMTOWN concerts, ISAC and other events, ChanBaek was now widely known to be close to each other. Baekhyun even said Chanyeol was the one who made him open up, and both of them mentioned feeling this "connection" to each other as soon as they met (although jokingly).
Tumblr media
After Mama, the fandom was content-less for a considerable period of time, and what most people did was sharing around old performances and repeat overused memes.  I think that in every fandom there is a period where fans establish their main inside jokes and basically just get together to create a collective line of thought for perceiving their idols. That being said, one of the most well established facts in the fandom was that Chanyeol and Baekhyun were close. That was a fact. But then Wolf came, and they suddenly were not.
This gif is a good example of how awkward their interactions were. Not even my delusional shipping brain in 2013 was able to come up with an explanation for it.
They simply did not acknowledge each other at all, and Chanyeol appeared to be closer to Kyungsoo (I think Baekhyun interacted a lot with Tao, but that may have been during the Growl era, not Wolf. As I said before, I'm a Chanyeol stan guys, sorry lmao).
Point is, these two boys who seemed to be best friends suddenly were clearly distant from one another.
What added fuel to the fire of the rumours was their appearance on Sukira, a radio show, where Sehun cried because the members sometimes had fights. Here's a fanacc:
[130530] EXO at Sukira
Sehun cried because the members sometimes fight.
Sehun: "Let's be loyal to each other, don't fight, and go until the end"
D.O: "We've been under a lot of stress lately because of the comeback, so I wish we won't fight in the future and do our best"
Here's a video cut of this part of their interview.
I think this ask on lets-talk-baekyeol, a popular ChanBaek analysis blog from back in the day, shows how curious a lot of fans were.
What happened back then?
There's really no answer for that. On my opinion, not even Chanyeol or Baekhyun could give us a concrete answer on it, because I don't think an actual fight happened. For me, it was most likely a personality clash, a disagreement that probably wasn't even voiced out loud, just both of them noticing how uncomfortable things got, if Baekhyun's reactions to Chanyeol's fanservice is any indication. I somehow doubt there was a specific episode that created this distance between them, specially because during Growl, they went back to being friends, although not as touchy on camera as before, as if one of them had established their limits (oh, I wonder who!), but I still have this feeling that all of this was unspoken, because unspoken things seem to be a pattern on ChanBaek's relationship (something I'll touch on later, hopefully).
But it was during Growl era that I noticed something else about Baekhyun.
Wolf era
EXO'S Showtime was a such a gift. I recommend reading lets-talk-baekyeol's blog for this. I don't really agree with everything they say they do present a lot of relevant points. I may repeat them here, since I noticed them myself as well, but credits for them nonetheless.
I remember finding the lack of ChanBaek interactions during the episodes really dissappointing, but considering the Wolf Era drought, this was better than nothing.
My 13 year old self was devastated when Baekhyun appeared so quiet during Chanyeol's birthday episode, and during a recent rewatch of it, I think realized why.
Baekhyun doesn't like superficial things. It's not that Chanyeol is insincere, but he's just better than Baekhyun is at handling people pleasing, even when he doesn't really mean what's he saying/doing. The Chanyeol birthday episode was heavily centered on Chanyeol's random admiration for Kai, which I think we can all agree that it was a little bit scripted or a really spur of the moment thing that they just ran along with and oh man. Baekhyun did not want to be part of it.
During ChanKai's hug, this is what he looked like on the background, and the poor boy even refused to eat cake. He's just in the back, which is weird, because he's such a talkative person and Chanyeol is one of his closest friends. The only moment where he seems to be genuinely comfortable is when Chanyeol blows the candle and it's really cute. To me, it seems that he was kind of embarrassed to witness so much acting from everyone else and was unable to participate because he struggles with things like this, but the moment Chanyeol blows his candles to comemorate his birthday seems sincere enough for him to fondly smile.
This ties in so well with everything from Mama Era. He's just unable to keep acting/people pleasing on the same easy way that Chanyeol does, but this time he's not as nervous about it as he was on his earlier-early days, where he probably felt pressured to actually do stuff. Now he just doesn't do **it, he just doesn't do something that he dislikes doing, and that sadly creates a distance between them on camera and probably on a deeper level in their relationship as well, because both are just realizing how different their perceptions over their jobs is.
There's also this moment that the mods on lets-talk-baekyeol pointed out.
On the Christmas episode, when the members leave the couch to go get their presents, Chanyeol stays seated while Baekhyun gets up to fetch his. This is the sitting arrangement before (almost) everyone got up:
Tumblr media
But when Baekhyun comes back, there's free space next to Chanyeol, however he's hesitant to sit by his side. He actually hesitates and doesn't sit down. Jongdae even gives him a little push right after.
Tumblr media
Baek just seems hesitant to do things on camera, to interact with Chanyeol in front of an audience. For this moment, I feel like he's afraid to sit next to Chanyeol and end up having to over act. It's not that Chanyeol himself makes him uncomfortable, but the image of the friendship that they ended up creating for fans demands a lot from him.
And when I say hesitant to do things on camera, I really do mean it, because when Baekhyun thinks he is not being recorded/seen, here's what he does:
Here and here.
Their relationship clearly changed, and I think the reason for it is actually simple: both of them were under the impression that they were compatible with each other when they actually were not. Their personalities are extremely different, even if the way they present themselves is sometimes similar. Wolf and Growl era was our way, as fans, of watching them navigate around each other and finding out how their relationship was supposed to work.
And you know what's nice about that? The members watched all of it unfold. Their reactions to some of ChanBaek's interaction is a gold mine when it comes to analyzing them, because they clearly know, just as we do, that their relationship is kind of complicated. But I want to talk about it on the next part.
I am sorry for cutting this off again! I don't know if the next part is going to be the last, because after Growl there's Overdose and we all know what happened on 2014 [coughs] dating scandal [coughs] god help me I don't want to talk about it [coughs] so there's a lot to uncover and I need time to organize stuff.
Thank you for reading!

final kingdom rankings
i decided to do the dumb thing that took too long and ranked all of the kingdom stages based on my personal opinion and ranked my top 7 over all (unit stages included). once again this is an opinion and i’m more then happy to discuss other opinions on the stages, but don’t use this post to bash me or others if it differs from your own. this will include notes on both the performance and the music itself.
with that said i’ll keep it under the cut as this will probably be a long post (spoiler: it is </3):
quick note: i watched all the stages by group and each stage in chronological order as i was taking notes. there may be some repeats of things or i bring up something that’s in a lower ranking stage if a higher ranking stage was one of the more recent ones (hope that makes sense). also if you don’t want to read everything there’s a top 5 ranking and my own final group ranking at the bottom.
skz:
stage 3 - i’ll be your man: seungmin and jisung vocals!!! i’m still not too familiar with the original btob song so i’m not sure how skz’s version varies from it, but their version i think fits their team really well. chan took a little bit of a back burner this stage, but we really got to hear the vocal side of skz shine through this song esp in their lower register which i think it stronger then their upper one lmao. jisung is really the only one (that i think) can belt some of those high notes so consistently. on the actual performance side of things there was an interesting use of sets and props, but not over done. there were some really ineresting dance breaks esp at the end of the song. the story of the stage was also i think one of skz’s strongest (and no guns <3). i really hope skz does a song like this in the future cause they can obviously pull it off.
stage 2 - side effects / god’s menu: really loved how we got to see a different side of skz on this stage with their acting! i don’t think they had another stage that was quite like this one. also loved the mixing again with both side effects and god’s menu with how they used felix as the transition between the two songs, and the FAT synths during the ‘my head hurts’ right before going into god’s menu. while this is a strong stage musically, acting and energy wise. i feel like there was too much of a reliance on props and a lot of work was done by the dancers which was visually amazing!! but skz is a strong dance group too and i wish it wasn’t as flashy as it was.
final stage - wolfgang: this stage and their 2nd stage are honestly tied but i think wolfgang is slightly lower cause i prefer the mixing for the 2nd stage. really dissapointed there was no epic organ player that was killed at the end </3 but that aside i would say wolfganf is a just a really strong skz song that’s a little more in the 3racha style. i really liked how they tied in some of the points from their intro stages with the green mouth light things and some of the samples used in the track! the reason it’s middle of the pack (haha get it cause their wolves.....i’ll stop) for me is similar to the side effects stage as it relies a lot on their dancers and props. it was a really nice ending performance to end their time on kingdom. (also one of their most messiest stages, but it was probably the one with the least amount of time for practice with everything lmao)
intro stage - miroh: really great intro stage for the skz cause we really got a taste of what was to come with kingdom (sadly no jinnie). the mixing was insane and one of my faves i think for skz (esp minho’s part <3). it had the same height of energy as the original tack, just much darker, and there was decent balance between vocals, dance, and rapping. it also showed their great work as a team with the small stunts in the choreo.
stage 4 - god’s menu x d4: don’t get me wrong, this stage is really neat with the deadpool stuff, but it’s also a stage that won’t really age that well? it was more on the gimmicky side of kingdom stages and i’m not sure why they had a large chunk of the choreo with guns???? that’s not needed that you. going into the good things...binnie popped off!! he really stuck out to me this stage rap wise. also the drop for the first d4 chorus was very unexpected but also really satisfying? kinda reminds me of the drop in the chorus for 1team’s ‘make this’ (go check it out if you don’t know the song). over all a really fun stage and their energy was really good, but just wish it wasn’t quite and gimmicky as it was </3
ateez: man i miss mingi....comeback soon king
final stage - the real: ok this stage is also really really close to their wonderland stage but is just SLIGHTLY ahead it. this stage was probably one of the most fun ones to watch out of ateez’s kingdom performances because they seemed so loose? like they were really just feeling themselves on this stage and it just looked like they were really enjoying themselves out there like this is what they were born to do. i also love this song and it’s one of my fave recent releases from ateez again (i’m not too big of a fan of their fever series sorry </3). the energy, rap, vocals, choreo was just all there. i’m just really glad we were able to see one of these stages again where we go to see the group really just let loose and half so much fun performing before the end of kingdom.
stage 2 - from the wonderland: look...i KNOW there’s a tentacle, but i’m going to look past that. it might be the favoritism towards wonderland as it is one of my top ateez titles, but i think it they did do a really good job mashing it together with symphony no. 9. there was a decent balance between using props/reliance on dancers and the group actually dancing. jongho slayed that high note at the end, and it was actually placed well in the song where it didn’t seem out of place. and them the OUTRO just represents one of the main reason’s i love ateez with their amazing energy. high energy song, high energy choreo...just the perfect ending to get you hyped. also one last note....seonghwa looked so hot when he was walking through the line of dancers with that rifle (he just looked good this whole stage <3).
stage 3 - the awakening of summer: a very different style from the original and i’d say even a different style for ateez but it still works?? the beginning was a lil cheesy and not sure how the whisper talking/rapping through most of the song works for me, but the INSTRUMENTAL pls play it at my funeral...that synth line <3 i really liked the little choreo with the rope that san did and the overall choreo was also really strong. the outro was a little let down on the energy of it. it may be cause there was some slight timing issues with the vocals and backing track or they were just missing SOMETHING for it, but jongho slayed that belted note once again where i’m not too mad at it lmao.
stage 4 - answer: in the first half i really thought this was going to be one of my fave stages for ateez as the added strings were a nice touch and i loved how they made some references to their past songs and overall concept story line. overall musically in the first part it was decently balanced with a few ode to joy and answer. once it got to the part where it was the opera singers i was????? if they stopped there i think it could have still worked, but the ending there was just so much going on but it was also missing so much as well?? i didn’t understand jongho’s one belted note at the end. this was the only stage where i really felt it didn’t fit. they either needed to not add it at all or have him have one other note after it with maybe a break between the two notes to make it feel more complete. overall...a decent stage, but it really just didn’t have that ateez polish on it.
intro stage - wave: ok tbh i....kinda hated this stage? NOTHING on ateez or wave, just the song did not translate to the style they ended up choosing for it. i think say my name would have been a really strong intro song in the final style chose esp since it didn’t come up in their later stages. the choreo was really strong, but honestly the mixing just seemed like they forced two pieces together that didn’t fit.
the boyz: ok i just want to write a quick note as a general opinion i have across all their stages. tbz is a really solid group overall esp with dancing, but i feel like for kingdom they played it safe in a lot of ways and we didn’t see much variation of wow factors from their stages. they were good!! just (usually) fairly predictable like they set the bar high and then just never raised it again </3
stage 4 - monster: this ranks so high partially cause i love exo’s monster sm but besides that point </3 the vocal line seemed to be pretty much a copy paste from the original (not a bad thing at all) but once again the instrumental my beloved <3 i think because the vocal line was pretty much the same as exo’s made it a really nice balance between the original and tbz version. i wasn’t too sure about the giant snake towards the end, but it actually wasn’t too bad as it was more of just the use of an entrance, then just a bg prop after that. as with all of their stages, the choreo was really solid, but it was the arrangement of the song that really put this performance on the top.
final stage - kingdom come:  dance wise i think this is my favorite out of all their stages. they had neat transitions from their pre recorded parts of the stage and the live part of the stages. really liked the part where the hand off screen was controlling the chroeo. then the dance break/outro!! not sure what it was, but i think it just really highlighted their strengths in dancing as a group. the song itself didn’t stand out at all and i think that’s why it ranks lower then their monster stage. it sounds a lot like checkmate to me (possible blended with salty???) so it’s a solid track, but it just doesn’t sound that different from their past ‘finale sounding’ tracks. it was a nice stage to end on for them as it was really solid, and it capped of their time with the kingdom series well.
stage 2 - no air: tbh the orginal song for no air doesn’t do much but i LOVE this mix of it. it might be the slowdown of the chorus that really does it for me, but it’s one of my fave mixes for their stage. really solid choreo and i liked the paired dancing with the other dancers in the first chorus. i think tbz i one of the the better groups when it comes to non-power dancing....not sure how to word it, but they’re very graceful and i love when they show it off and the dancing in front of the white fabric was a really nice touch. they also pulled off their stunts really well!! that’s another things they’re pretty reliable in, but it’s something they don’t overuse which is nice. a very strong stage overall for them.
stage 3 - the red wedding: someone is going to murder me for this, but i’m not the biggest fan of o solo mio </3 tbz did a really good job with the song! music wise for me is just that the rap sections i think didn’t flow too well in their rendition of the song. i don’t remember how they fit in the original but it didn’t fit that well in this stage ;_; i thought the rest was really good! their use of props wasn’t overdone and added some interest to the choreo that was already really strong. also really enjoyed the sections in the birdcage with the female dancer. another really solid performance by them.
intro stage - the stealer: LOVED the choreo and formations for this performance. they’re a really strong dance group and i’m glad we got to see how good their dancing is with no props or anything. the song it’s self wasn’t too special, it was a solid mix but it seemed like something we’ve seen before? i think it reminded be of one of their stages from rtk, but i don’t remember which one ;_;
sf9:
stage 4 - move: CONGRATS TO SF9 FOR BEING THE ONLY GROUP THAT HAS TAEYANG. i could watch that man dance all day damn. the only thing i didn’t really like/understand was the very end where they were standing in the rain??? it would have been neat if they had one final dance break in the rain box or a solo dance or SOMETHING...it just didn’t need to be there otherwise </3 but everything else was SO GOOD. the concept of the stage was strong, the mixing was fit the group really well, and with move being such a difficult dance, the members did a really good job with it. the props/sets used i think added to it, and there was a good balance between those and the group actually dancing. glad to know taemin covers in the kingdom series did the original songs justice <3
final stage - believer: taeyang once again <3 overall the track sounds like a really solid b-side, but their performance really brought it up to a nice finale song. loved their references to their past stages with the props and formations with the dances, it wasn’t too much and didn’t distract from the rest of it. the use of reflections was also really well done!! that prop was super cool and loved how they played around with it. overall a really nice way to end kingdom for them, and i think dance and staging wise, it was one of my faves to come from them.
stage 3 - the scene: congrats sf9 for being the only group that has hwiyoung <3 tbh this stage would probably be my number one of they didn’t have the guns during the choreo </3 it just...brought it down so much for me (and the blurred out knife???). i think the mixing was pretty solid as it was close to tbz version, but made it fit sf9 really well. the fight scenes were super well done and i feel like did add something to the stage. then overall the dancing was really sharp this time around!! a super good stage....just take out the dancing guns.
stage 2 - jealous: this was one of the few stages outside the introductions that didn’t have a super heavy reliance on props, they didn’t rank well, and then we never saw a stage like it again </3 i loved this stage!! it didn’t change drastically music wise, but i really liked the kind of rock style? remix of now or never and it fit well with the concept of the stage. the formations!!! in this performance were some of my fave and loved the bits of choreo we saw when the members were dancing with the female dancers. there were some parts with the members weren’t quite in sync with each other, but overall it was really solid and sad we didn’t get to see a stage like this one again ;_;
intro stage - good guy: if sf9 just did suit concepts in the future i would not be mad <3 but overall a solid intro stage! there wasn’t much difference music wise except in the dance break in the beginning from the original song. choreo was pretty crisp and overall done well. there were no ‘wow’ factors in this stage, but a very solid one overall.
ikon:
final stage - at ease: tbh i wasn’t too sure about the song in previews, but it’s grown a lot on me as this past week went on. it’s a great hype song and has the energy of ikon that i really love. the drop the in the chorus is really satisfying and it was just as satisfying visually in the performance as well. they used their dancers really well and the members also did really well with the chorus choreo. it was just overall a really satisfying stage for ikon and it was the only stage in my opinion they ramped up their more laid back energy and worked so well.
stage 2 - to the world: this is one of the stages that really does age pretty well. i wasn’t a huge fan of it mainly bc of the ending and it’s still not my fave but it didn’t take away as much from the stage as i remember. i LOVE both love scenario and killing me. the love scenerio portion of the stage i think it still one of my fave ikon moments. the acting was solid and i liked their story with it. in some ways i wish at least killing me was a little more hard hitting and less a copy and paste for the most part from their original. love scenario was an amazing opening but killing me needed something to make a solid ending song as it caused the energy of the stage to kinda fall off or not really raise at all. overall i do really like this stage, it just needs more of something for the ending.
intro - rhythm ta: i think this was my 2nd fave intro stage right being skz’s. i love the formation in the beginning and the vocal fry on the ‘ikon is back’ was a nice touch. it also just seemed like the most loose intro stage? like this wasn’t their first rodeo and just felt really comfortable on this stage. overall loved the energy of the stage, and there was solid mixing of the song and good choreo.
stage 3 - inception: this isn’t hate on bobby or anything but his rap parts really bought this performance down for me </3 it might have just been an off day or smth but...yeah. otherwise i really liked the stage!! the mixing was really intresting and they really made inception into their own ikon style. the sets used was also probably my fave overall? it was really really neat with the changing sets to match the song title. also the ending was super cool with the dancers in that final formation where they kinda slowed down. a really cool stage overall.
stage 4 - classy savage: family watching yg tv time <3 i think there was a really nice balance of both the original bp song and ikon’s style. tbh it seems opposite of what i said with the boyz..the insturmental seemed pretty close to blackpink’s, but the vocal/rap was very much the ikon style. the reason this one is so low for me is because it seemed like two separate stages with lisa? it was really neat that she was added, but it would have been so cool if he joined in with them for the final outro or something. she even had the same lyrics to the blackpink song as ikon’s changed so it just made it that much more separate. if lisa either joined in more with ikon or she wasn’t added at all i think this would have ranked a lot higher on my list </3
btob: another quick note....i think on the performance end btob is the opposite of tbz. they don’t do much with choreo but they’re such an enjoyable group to watch and their VOCALS are always so stable so i probably won’t have many notes on their dancing lmao
stage 4 - blue moon: concept and comedy kings <3 idk they were really feeling themselves but it looked like they were having so much fun on stage and it made me have a smile on my face the entire time. the concept of the movie worked so well with the style of the jazzy tune. i’m not too familiar with the original bside so i’m not sure how much it differs or if it does at all. there’s really nothing i would change from this stage...it’s just so enjoyable to watch from the concept, vocals, and peniel playing that piano terribly <3
stage 3 - back door: really close to their blue moon stage for me. i really feel like they got the hang of the kingdom stages at this point. i loved their remix of back door. they took a rap heavy song and turned it in to a vocal heavy one so well?? truly made it their own. the weird drop(?) after they say back door just works so well for me and the inclusion of the electric guitar is so NEAT. there wasn’t much as far as dancing except for the small bit at the end and in one of the ‘dressing rooms’ but it really worked for the concept of the stage. idk it’s just a really fun stage to watch and a really good hype energy at the end.
final stage - show and prove: TALK ABOUT A FINALE STAGE. i love this song on it’s own and it’s probably my top song or in the top 2 for the original kingdom songs. this stage is another one that’s so close with their blue moon and back door stage, but i think it ranks a little lower then the other two as there was choreo from the members (or at least not a lot at all). but even with that this stage didn’t feel any less grand then the other finale performances because they killed the vocal parts so much and the song itself is such a GOOD ending song. oh man i would rate this higher if dancing or concept also was involved ;_;
intro stage - beautiful and painful: (i think that’s what it’s called?): vocal kings <3 they really said we’re the best vocalists on this show with this intro and you know? they’re correct. i wasn’t too sure on this stage when i first watched it since it was so different compared to the other groups, but watching it again now it’s a really strong intro stage. btob is a really strong vocal group and they established that really early on and only gave us a taste of what they were really able to do. a great intro stage overall.
stage 2 - missing you: overall the stage is really beautiful with the lighting and the trees, but similar to ikon’s stage with lisa it seemed really disjointed. the vocal sections were really strong on their own and the dance break section this was really cool on it’s own, but it didn’t mesh together super well :/ a decent stage for sure, i just wish they kept the style of the dance break or just kept it the style of the vocal stage. i think they might have just added that dance section in there as the other groups had such dance heavy performances and theirs didn’t, but again it just kinda took something away from it </3
unit stages: i’m not going to write notes on the unit stages cause i’ve already written so much on the group stages lmao but if you want to more about/wonder why one ranked lower then another than pls ask! i’m just too done with this post to write it now. i will say 2-4 are really close in ranking. love poem took the whole thing for me and i wasn’t a huge fan of wither rap unit stage </3
love poem
wolf
king and queen- both performances teams are really close in ranking after a rewatch
spark
colors
full dash
top 7 stages overall: cause i couldn’t choose 5 </3
love poem (i think it’s cause minnie brainrot but we’re not going to talk about it thank u)
i’ll be your man
blue moon
the real
from wonderland
side effects / god’s menu
move
final group rankings:
stray kids (call it favoritism, but they deserved it)
ateez
btob (if kingdom was only vocal/music they would have won in my opinion)

Tumblr media
The giddy feeling from your last date with Junmyeon didn’t last long. It wasn’t due to lack of contact, both of you reached out to message the other when you could. And although you had worn the sweater to bed that night, it had been hanging on the front of your wardrobe ever since.
You just… didn’t want to jump too ahead of yourself.
In the beginning, you had been looking for someone different and Junmyeon was showing you more than you initially expected. He surprised you enough that you were satisfied, for now at least. Still, you wanted to give the full ten dates a good attempt before allowing yourself to get too in over your head with your feelings.
Besides, the time apart reflected that of your busy nature. Work was all too easy to focus on and even easier to be overwhelmed by that you didn’t have a lot of time in your day to even think of the man halfway across the world.
And because of that lack of time, you were incredibly surprised to pick up your phone and find several messages from Junmyeon within the same time zone.
Instead of reading them all, you pressed the call then speaker icons, placing the phone down on your desk as you continued to type up an email.
“You didn’t have to ring.”
“I don’t even have one hand free to message back,” you admitted, though you did pause in typing momentarily to take in his voice.
“Working too hard?”
“This week feels like four years long, not four days.”
“Have you eaten?”
“Lunch.”
He sighed. “Y/N, it’s past seven.”
“Maybe I’ll make it home by eleven,” you concluded, grimacing at the stack of paperwork beside you.
“Do I need to talk to your boss about regulating your hours?”
“I’m just counting down the hours until the weekend arrives. Anyway, I wish I had time to catch up with you but I really should get back to my emails.”
“You don’t need me talking your ear off and transferring the content into your work notes.”
“Definitely not.”
“I still think dinner is needed.”
“I’ll get something when I can and I’ll talk to you again soon. Welcome back, by the way.”
You hung up after saying goodbye, your focus slipping back to the project you were in charge of this month. You were deep in the throes of it when there was a gentle knock at your door.
“Come in,” you called out, not lifting your eyes from a report until a takeout bag was placed in front of you.
Junmyeon smiled when you looked up at him, confounded. “I told you that you needed to eat.”
“How are you … how did you know this was what I was craving?” you breathed, discarding the report to the side as your stomach overruled you with the insatiable smell of the food.
“Well, I can’t say I’m a mind reader but you did tell me that this is one of your favourite things to eat when you’re extra hungry.”
“I did?”
“Mm.” He then gestured to the door. “I bumped into Ayla at the entrance. She gave very thorough directions to find your office.”
“I bet she did,” you mused, still touched that he had gone to such efforts for you. You were halfway through your burger when you snapped your focus back to Junmyeon. “Wait, where’s your food?”
“I ate it on the way, I was kind of hungry.”
You then looked him over more carefully, noticing how wrinkled his shirt was. Placing down the burger, you pointed at him. “You came here right after getting off your flight, didn’t you?”
“You happened to ring when I was in the luggage claim,” he confessed with a wry smile.
“You should have just gone home!”
“And sat in my empty house worrying about you not eating until eleven? Come on, I made the right choice. Even your stomach is thankful.”
You laughed. “Incredibly. I really appreciate this.”
“It’s my pleasure.”
You ate the rest of your burger quietly, unsure what more to say. You were overwhelmed by his selfless gesture. It had been a long time since someone had looked out for you like this.
Junmyeon had picked up a file during the time you were eating and when he noticed your gaze on him, he held it up. “Is this what you’re working on?”
“It’s a huge release for the company next month. I keep thinking I’ll never get it done in time.”
“This is really impressive,” he stated, flicking over another page. “You came up with this on your own?”
“I have my team to thank for bringing it to life,” you replied, feeling shy with his praise. Junmyeon read over it some more and then looked back up at you, his expression now indescribable. You rested your head in the palm of your hand, sliding your elbow up onto the desktop to support it. “What is it?”
“Am I dreaming right now?”
“No, why would you ask that?”
He shook the file. “This is incredible.”
“Enough with the compliments.”
“No, I mean it. I already thought you were funny, down to earth and intelligent but wow, this is something else, Y/N.”
“You thought that about me?”
Junmyeon nodded. “That and more. It’s not fair. How does someone like you exist? I knew when I met you for dinner that there was more than the physical attraction there but damn, I’m struggling here.”
“Struggling?” you echoed, watching his ears turn red. “With what?”
“With how much I like you,” he confessed honestly, placing down the file. “God, I want to kiss you.”
You got up then, moving swiftly into his arms that caught you too easily, meeting his lips midway. It wasn’t hurried, his mouth moving at a much slower pace that your beating heart. Still, the way he caressed you blew your mind. The stars behind your eyes blinded you, leaving you reliant on your other senses. As you gasped for more air, you inhaled, growing intoxicated by his cologne. Your fingers threaded through the ends of his hair, his own now gripping at your waist and pulling you closer to his torso. Another gasp invited your tongues to deepen the kiss, tasting him as the moment grew heated.
You finally pulled back for air, certain you had just experienced the longest first kiss of your life.
And you could tell that Junmyeon was just as affected as you were.
“Was it worth the wait?” you asked as you attempted to catch your breath, Junmyeon’s head bobbing up and down immediately.
“I told you if I did that before I left I wouldn’t be productive on my trip.”
Laughing, you pointed back to your desk. “How do you expect me to finish all this tonight?”
“I’ll help you,” he offered and you leaned in to kiss him again, getting caught up in an equally long and overwhelming second embrace. Junmyeon rested his forehead against yours. “I mean, I’ll try to help you.”
“You need to go back home,” you urged with a breathy chuckle, watching as he grinned in response. “Without me.”
“That’s not fair.”
“It’s only date number four,” you pointed out and Junmyeon laughed.
“I suppose this is as good a date as the others.”
You shook your head, brushing the hair away from his eyes so you could soak them in more effectively. They swirled with adoration for you. “No, this one is the best one yet.”
“Really?”
“Mm, this is my favourite.”
“I think it’s because my lips sealed the deal,” he offered but you shook your head in disagreement. Glancing around your office, at the disarray of your workspace, and then down at your feet sans the heels you had kicked off under your desk earlier in the evening, you then grinned at the man still holding you.
“This is the real me,” you stated and Junmyeon slowly smiled.
“I mean, I probably stink from being in the same clothes from when I set out on my flight home so this is the real me too.”
“I like the real you,” you confessed and Junmyeon’s grip around you tightened.
“You’re right; this is the best date yet.”

Thera’s Journal Entry #54
I heard the door slide open and I looked up. Ann was standing in the doorway and walked in, then plopped down on a chair like she owned the place, pushing the fuzzy decorative pillow (which Crow had gotten me) to the floor.
This was my off day for the week. Or, sort-of-off day. I had some scouting to do on Europa late that night, which I wasn’t happy about. I wasn’t overly fond of the cold planet to begin with, and the weather and temperature wasn’t really better at night fall.
“So what’s up?” I asked, setting aside the holopad I had been scrolling through.
“You know how you haven’t had a chance to meet my new friends yet?” Ann began.
Ann had recently found a set of Guardians to become friends with. Four of them to be exact. A warlock, a titan, and two hunters. I was happy for her, even if that meant she would spend a lot of her time now going on missions with them instead of me. That had been the case lately. I would be free to do something with her, or I’d have a mission that Ikora would tell me I could do with another Guardian, but she would be wrapped up with one or all of her new friends. But I knew how it felt, having friends like that.
I nodded to Ann. She had wanted me to meet them, but all at once, which was hard to do since at least one would be on a mission, and we could never find the time where we were all free.
“Well, they’re all free. And I’m free. And your free. If you’d like, they’re all hanging out on the EDZ. I want to surprise them and show up with you.”
“I suppose we can. I can’t see why not.” I answered.
Ann shot up from her chair, ready to go. I followed close behind.
----------------------------------------------
“So who are all of them again?” I asked over the coms. Ann was in her own jumpship nearby.
“Okay, you’ve got Alex. He’s the awoken hunter with the dark blue hair and the orange eyes. Then you’ve got Lana, she’s the other hunter. She’s human, and I’m pretty sure she’s the youngest of the four. Then there’s Jacks-4, the titan and the exo. Lana told me he’s the oldest. And finally there’s Mason, but we all call him Mace, and he’s the warlock with the fluffy dirty blonde hair.”
I nodded. I was sure that they would all introduce themselves, but I would still like to know their names before hand.
We couldn’t land our ships, too many trees, and there wasn’t a big enough area, so we simply swooped down. I saw Ann’s four friends all look up. They sat around a rather large bonfire, and some had bottles in their hands.
Our Ghosts transmatted us out. Ann first, and then me right behind her. Mace, Jacks, Lana, and Alex, all stood in surprise.
“Is that the Young Wolf?!” Lana said excitedly, as if she couldn’t believe that I was right there in front of her.
“It is. Wanted to surprise you guys, so I brought her along. Thera, meet the gang.” Ann gestured to all of them.
I wasn’t sure what to do, and I couldn’t believe it, but I actually felt nervous.
“Hello,” I said rather awkwardly.
Alex turned and grabbed up an unopened bottle of alcohol, said “Catch.”, and then threw it at me. I caught it and opened it, then took a swig.
“Don’t feel intimidated.” I stated.
“Do you mind if we ask you questions?” Jacks asked me as he sat back down near the fire.
“Not at all. Ask away.”
They all sat again, and I sat beside Ann.
“Ya’ll shoulda seen the looks on your faces when the Young Wolf pulled up.” Said Mace with a grin.
Lana looked at him. “Mace, you had on the exact same expression. You’re sitting over there as if you knew the entire time when we all know you didn’t.”
Mace shrugged picked up a book from beside him and opened to a page. He pulled the pencil out from where it had been behind his ear, and began to scribble.
“So, I suppose before we ask questions, we should tell a bit about ourselves. I’ll do the honors of giving you the run down.” Said Alex as he stood on a tree stump nearby.
He pointed to Mace, “Artistic and sarcastic.” Then to Jacks, “The titan Dad of the group who wants to make sure we all have fun but stay safe.” Then to Lana, “She’s the youngest and Jack’s favorite.”
“What about yourself, Alex?” Lana asked.
“Me? I’m the cool one.”
Ann, Jacks, Lana, and Mace all laughed as if it were the funniest joke ever told. I giggled a little at Alex who faked a pout and crossed his arms. Alex sat down.
“So Thera, tell us a little about yourself.” Lana asked.
“Well,” I tried to think about what to say. “I suppose you know everything there is about me. All that hero stuff and what not. That’s all that’s important.”
“No, no, tell us about the little things. Hobbies and what not.”
“Um, well, I like to cook and bake. Though it’s hard to find the time.” I said.
“She makes some good cookies.” Ann told them.
“You should bring some. If anybody likes cookies it’s Jacks.” Said Mace.
“I thought exos don’t eat?” Asked Alex.
“We can, but don’t have to to survive like you all do.” Jacks answered and Alex opened his mouth. “And before you ask, yes, I can still taste.” Alex closed his mouth.
Jacks turned to me. “Thera, if you don’t mind me asking, why aren’t you seen around the Tower much?”
“You make it sound as if I never go out at all.”
“Well it’s just that usually, Guardians don’t see you walking around. Sometimes they will, but not very often.”
“I like being by myself a lot of the time. It’s just an introvert being an introvert really. I’ll go out every once in a while to pick up bounties, turn in bounties, and maybe talk to Ikora or someone, but that’s about it.”
“Do you go out in the City much?” Asked Lana.
“No. Not really. Every now and then I’ll head out with Ann and Shaxx to play dodgeball with the kids.”
“Oh I love the children of the City.” Lana gushed. “I’ll try to go down there at least once every month to talk to them.”
I nodded. “They are very sweet.”
I looked over to the side, where all the Ghosts were clustered together.
“I have an idea.” Said Ann, following my gaze. “Hey Ghosts! Come back here for a minute!”
The Ghosts all returned to their Guardians. Scout lowered down to rest on my knee.
“How about,” Began Ann. “We all tell how we decided on our Ghost’s names?”
Everyone nodded, and even the Ghosts bobbed up and down.
“And you Ghosts can chime in whenever you want to add or subtract from the story. I know some people here who will definitely add in some white lies to their stories.” Ann continued.
Alex leaned over and whispered something to his Ghost.
Ann pointed at his Ghost. “And Chase you better not lie for him!”
We laughed.
We began with Jacks, who said he decided on the name Zuza after she had always stopped to look and scan flowers no matter where they were. Zuza was a name that meant lily. Lana smiled, finding it very cute.
Alex told how he called his Chase, because the Ghost (who was smaller than the rest) had ran down a fallen dreg after they had stolen his gun (which Alex explained had been given to him by Shaxx after a win streak in the Crucible quite soon after he arrived at the Tower after being rezzed). And the Ghost had managed to track down the dreg, reaching them with Alex close behind. Chase had decided to add a detail Alex had forgotten. Chase had been ten times faster than Alex, and had been quite a ways ahead of him the entire time.
Lana said that she had named her Ghost Reeva a week after her rez, because of her fascination with the stars.
Then Ann explained how she had been rezzed in the Cosmodrome in one of the many rusted cars. But, that around the cars there had somehow been poppies growing there.
Mace told his story of how he had been rezzed on a large cliff side and that it was at the break of dawn when he took in his first breath of a new life.
Then, all heads turned to me, and I began mine...
(Yes, I did decide to end it before Thera told how she found the name Scout. But I intend to write that part tomorrow.)

*******************************
Sehun dishevels his dark brown locks once again as his fingers constantly press a button on his remote control. The screen in front of him blinks and shows different pictures which fail to grab his attention.
Sehun sighs in agony. It’s Saturday night and he has nothing to do, no one to get laid, and no reasons to sleep yet. Now he realizes how lonely he is after he broke up with his previous girl friend who sneaked behind him to get into his best friend’s (Kai) pants. Yes Sehun dated her for a good two years and in the last three months she slept with Kai. He caught her red handed when he came to Kai’s room; unplanned, to take the homework he left. That day ended his relationship with the girl and his friendship with Kai.
Sehun has been doing well the past few months forgetting the memories, leaving Kai behind, and moving on. He is thankful for Johnny and his friends who accept him nicely into the gang. Sehun does not meet his fellow friends: Chanyeol and Baekhyun as frequent as he did before mainly because Kai shares an apartment with them. Sehun met Johnny from his philosophy class and they happen to have the same hobby, therefore they start to be best friends.
Usually on Saturday nights, Sehun has some fun with Chanyeol and the others; probably catching on with their games, talking about some girls here and there, Baekhyun challenges them for a match in PUBG, Suho annoys them with his dad jokes, Lay and Chanyeol might work on their music, and Kai? He’ll be with Sehun laughing their ass off when Baekhyun lost a game. Hufth he really misses Kai, but at the same time he hates him with all his heart. How could a best friend do that?
But truth is : best friends are the ‘best’ back-stabber right?
Sehun turns his TV off when he heard a knock on the door. Lazily he proceeds to grab the door.
“Yeah-“ he opens the door to see the person disturbing his peaceful night- “Oh, it’s you.”
Sehun steps aside to let the man behind the door in.
“What is it Johnny?” Sehun questions when the tall man makes his way to his cooler and ponders over the glass to pick which drink he wants.
Johnny grabs a can of Carlsberg, pops it open and quenches his thirst. Sehun rolls his eyes then snaps, “If you’re only here for my drinks… put some dollars there and leave.”
Johnny takes his time to finish the last drop and after applying pressure to crumple the can he finally speaks up.
“I see you have no company tonight. The TVs are boring, mind to follow me?” he asks while tossing the unformed can between his hands.
“What? Where?” Sehun deems more explanation.
“Somewhere you might never have been before-“ he glances at his wrist and back to Sehun “the offer’s short. Are you coming or not?”
Sehun looks puzzled. Johnny out of the blue knocked his apartment door, finished a can of beer, and suddenly asked him to join him.
“It will be interesting I promise. At least more interesting than sitting in your dull apartment crying over your ex.” Johnny shrugs his shoulder playfully and tosses the can to the bin.
“Fine. I agree just because I have nothing to do, and seeing you made time to come and pick me up… it better be something good.” Sehun jogs and grabs his denim jacket and jumps into his boots. Judging by Johnny’s fashion he knows a sneaker won’t do good.
“Nice choice. You’re quick in observing eh?” Johnny slaps his back and walks out of the small flat.
“Walk faster please.” With that one sentence, Sehun locks his door and catches up his friend’s long steps.
Sehun finds out that they are not alone. He sees Taeyong, Jaehyun, and Yuta lounging over the basement smoking a stick of cigarette.
“You’re finally here! Took you almost one box of this.” Jaehyun playfully shakes the half empty cigarette box. (The four shares them, duhh)
“Where’s your manner-” Sehun smirks and opens his hand to which Yuta quickly places a bar “-thank you! Now shall we get going?”
Taeyong laughs at his arrogance. “I don’t promise you will like where we’re headed. Note that it’s our job-“ he points at himself then to Yuta and Jaehyun “- Johnny is only accompanying us and we think you’ll be lonely after your drama… so let’s see how this goes.”
Sehun keeps his mouth close and follows them into their car. After an hour drive out of the city, they reach a vast crowded area on the outskirt of the busy streets. There are no tracks or path there, but judging by the numerous two wheeled vehicles and spot lights exposing a route, Sehun knows they are in a wild motor tracking area. He did not know these 4 calm looking guys are into this kind of sport, but that explains their fashion style! Lots of leathers, tight pants, chains, and that smoldering look.
Sehun jumps off the car and looks around for a while; just to realize he is no longer with the gang. He lost them, but before catching up, he decided to look around for a little while.
The brunette is mesmerized by the shining slim bodies of the motors. There are several bikes displayed nicely side by side, each one having their own personal strikes of colors and styles. One motor caught his attention, the simplest one, with just a sticker of 127 in a bold neon green prints. He carefully runs his finger through the neat numbers then quickly pulls them back when a small voice calls him.
“Hey-“ the person taps his shoulder “- I believe we are not to touch any thing used for the race. People might claim it for cheating if something goes wrong later.”
Sehun bashfully keeps his hand together and apologizes “Oh! I’m sorry.” He brings his hand to his neck and slowly makes an eye contact to the girl, who called him off, in front of him.
“No worries, no one saw it except me. Besides you look new here.” She runs her eyes scanning him from top to bottom. She smiles when the flustered man gives out his hand “Sehun. Yes I’m new here. And you? You yourself looks a bit out of place here.”
Sehun clearly lost control of his mouth. How can he made such a blunt comment about this stunning girl across him. Yes she looks young, without her height people will definitely ban her to be here.
Right within his vision is a girl not taller than him, slightly shorter, wrapped in a comfortable ripped skinny black jeans and a white tee shirt with black leather jackets. Her long hair is neat under her cap. Her eyes are calm, her hair is strangely the cute hue of cotton candy, and her cute dimple smile defines the title of “nice cute girls you wish you can date” Sehun envies her eternal young genes. And yes he wonders why the hell is she here.
She seems taken aback by his comment, but plays along quickly “I’m also surprised I’m here. What brings you here?” She smoothly drives the conversation.
“I’m tagging along my friends… and I lost them when we arrived here-“ He cranes his neck over the crowds to look for his squad “-Johnny is over there. The others I don’t see them. No worries.”
She smiles and Sehun melts. “So you really don’t know what’s happening here?” she asks.
Sehun nods then darts his eyes to his surrounding. The crowd is moving to the sides when 10 motors are growling their engines on the starting line. The MC shouts some opening remarks.
Guess the first round is starting in 5 minutes. “I sense it’s some wild racing?” He returns his vision to the girl beside him.
“Right. As clear as a day. They do wild race here. Practically like Moto Gp but without the sponsors, live cam, and rules. It stands to its name. Wild race. No rules, just start from the starting line and find your way to the finish line.”  without much emotion she explains it to Sehun.
“I don’t get it.. why are they doing this?” Sehun wonders. The first race started and he saw how dangerous this game is. “How do you determine the winner?” Sehun earlier saw someone walking around the crowds collecting moneys and he puts them under one box and gives it to the judge. Which they did not keep directly. He wonders if that is the betting money.
“The one not under drugs or booster, the one who reaches the finish line, and the one who performs best in the eyes of the judges. There’s some scoring system that I also don’t quite get it. Worry not there are medical team and a professional judge.” She looks into the distance: the dusty and dirty race track.
“What does the winner gets?” Sehun asks.
“Money. They win money and fame maybe. I am also like you. I don’t get this whole thing.” She shrugs her shoulder acting like she also doesn’t get why this thing is allowed.
Sehun secretly smiles at her comment. Funny how the two of them doesn’t like being here and happens to bump into each other. Just as he is about to dive deeper into the conversation, Johnny calls him and walks towards him.
“Looks like your friend is looking for you Sehun, I’ll be going. See you.. somewhere else.. I think you don’t like this thing and won’t be coming back!” she turns around.
“Yeah. It’s not my style… hey you haven’t tell me your name.” Sehun yells a bit. She successfully heard him and turns around her heels, “It’s (y/n)! See you on another chance!” she smiles, walks through the crowd and disappears.
“You’re here! I’ve been looking for you around. Come on let’s get ready the real deal is starting in 7 minutes.” Johnny grabs his hand and drags him to one side of the audience area.
They are simply standing by the opposing sides of the track. Between them are the racers and their motors. Sehun’s surprised when he sees the motor that caught his attention earlier. The 127 motor is there. “Where are Taeyong and the others?” Sehun raises his brow to Johnny.
“Right I forgot to tell you. Taeyong is a manager.. Jaehyun is the mechanic and Yuta-“ Sehun cuts him off “Yuta is the racer?”
“Yes but not for tonight. You’ll be surprised to know our racer.” Johnny speaks a bit louder to match the voice of the crowds and the engines. “They have the best player.. it’s that one.. the one with 127 printed on the jacket.” Johnny points at a person.
Sehun’s eyes widen when he coincidentally exchange gazes with the girl behind the helmet. She shoots him her playful shrugs and after putting on her helmet, she jumps over her seat and roars her engines. “(y/n)?” Sehun accidentally lets her  name slips.
“Oh you know? Yeah it’s her. She’s been playing for three month and Taeyong has never been this proud. She’s the best he ever had.” Johnny comments while having his eyes locked on the racers and to the MC who begins to announce tonight’s line up.
“This race is open for all genders. Don’t be surprised. Oh tonight’s opponent is easy Sehun! It’s a real piece of cake.” Johnny claps excitedly on the contrary, Sehun is worried sick. Why must a girl like her compete in something dangerous and dirty like this.
The whistle is blown and the flags are down, the ten motors wildly accelerates through the dark dusty road and 300 meters to the race, three contestants are knocked down. 500 meters into the dark night another two falls. Sehun can’t see which one in the dark is (y/n) but he hopes she is not falling behind. He hopes with all his might she is okay and alright. Sehun knows falling down from a high speed motor cycle is not something small. He knows the danger and he is worried sick (y/n) will end like that.
“Johnny… tell me who are the competitors tonight.” Sehun tries his best to concentrate on the shadows in the dark. The lack of constant lighting made it hard to keep track of the racers. Only under the glowing street light can they see what’s happening. “Majority it’s men who are usually knocking each other down. No worries, (y/n) can easily win tonight.” Johnny seems to smell something from Sehun. He knows Sehun is interested at her. He’s not the type to get worried sick for someone he doesn’t care.
Finally Sehun can let go the breath he doesn’t know he’s been holding. Just like what Johnny said, he saw (y/n) made it first to the finish line and Taeyong and the rest cheers into a group hug. Johnny is also over the moon. Sehun made a mental note he doesn’t like this and he is not coming back. No! This is so dangerous for his heart. He isn’t in the race but he can feel the adrenaline and he hates that.
On the side next to the judges, Taeyong Jaehyun and Yuta hug each other and collected the money from the judges. He took a small number for his team and hands the rest to the champion.
(y/ n) took off her helmet, placed it on one of the bike hand and she counts her money happily. Her breath is still quick and short. Sehun can see it from the distant how adrenalines must still take over her body. She keeps her money inside her jacket and walks to the side to have a discussion with Taeyong. While Jaehyun takes over the motor to examine the damages, Yuta checks on her condition.
“Some scratches here and there… nothing dangerous.” Yuta smiles in relief.
“Jaehyun I think there’s something missing. Someone kicked me but I managed to keep my body on the jock. But please tell me something is missing coz I heard something drop.” (y/n) goes to bend beside Jaehyun who’s busy examining.
Taeyong pushes a bottle of energy drinks to her lips and she diligently finishes half of it.
“Whoah. Indeed someone managed to kick some parts away.. but worry not I’ll get this fixed. Your next race you’ll be the fastest again.” Jaehyun brings her bike to a carrier truck.
She can’t go home with that dirty bike. Besides the bike is modified for races not for daily use or even used in town.
“Okay. Good bye!” she bows and turns to rejoins her friends. They welcome her nicely and Taeyong Jaehyun Yuta returns to Johnny and Sehun.
“How is it Sehun? Surprised?” Jaehyun interrogates when they are on their way back home. They live in the same unit apartment. Sehun lives alone with his brother while the four shares a big house.
“I did not know these things are happening in real life. I thought I’d only see them in movies.” Sehun snickers.
Yuta laughs “I think you’ve talk a word or two with our Ace racer. What do you think of her?”
Sehun tries to keep his cool image but fails, “She doesn’t look like she belongs there. She’s cute.” He admits that.
The four boos him and teases him.
“Our Sehun will finally move on!” Taeyong screams.
“No! It’s not like that! I just met her.. that’s just my first impression. Besides I’m not returning to that hellish place.”
“Said the man who really gets nervous during the race.. asking me constant questions to ensure she is alright.” Johnny mocks Sehun. This stirs the car to laugh and Sehun quiet in his place. Blushing all the way home.
--
Sehun gets home with butterflies in his tummy. The short encounter was too short of his liking, but definitely planted deep inside his memory. His brother, Luhan, welcomes him home with tons of questions.
“Where are you from?”
“What makes you this weird?”
“Don’t tell me you found someone new?”
“Sehun you’re not answering me?! You’re not drunk right?”
“Hey Sehun! SEHUN! Come to your senses!”
Luhan upon Sehun’s arrival has bombarded him with questions. Hey Luhan knows the heart break Sehun went through and he knows that earlier he left Sehun for his date and when he returns quiet late, Sehun is not home yet. His mind quickly think where can he be. Probably a club? Or maybe the guys’ house. But seeing how Sehun’s shoes are dirty.. Luhan knows he is not drunk or back from playing PS.
“Hyung. I’m not drunk okay. I’m totally in my right mind and I’m just happy for tonight.”
“What do you do?”
“Fine if you insist. I watched a wild motor racing. Happy? Just because Taeyong is working there.”
“Right. Did you win or lose the bet?” Luhan expects his brother to gamble since he’s there.
To which surprisingly Sehun denies “You know I don’t gamble.”
Luhan rolls his eyes “Who knows something gets into you. Anyways since you’re home.. I’ll be sleeping. Nighty night big baby.”
“Please if you’re doing your business keep the moans low. I  want to sleep without nightmares Sehun.” Luhan winks to his pants and closes his door.
Sehun grunts. Gosh why is he even having a tent right now between his tight pants. Gosh Luhan is really teasing him max. Why did he even have this boner right now?!

Warnings: some swearing
Pairing: Sehun x Reader
Genre: Fluff/angst
Summary: When a strange string of not so great events somehow and you with a job at the palace punching the wrong people can be not so great.
The music from the orchestra floated in the background as pairs spun and twirled in elaborate patterns. The beginning of your night was flooded with people of royal status bombarding you with well wishes, invitations, and promises of gifts. It was overwhelming but you managed to handle it and it distracted you from the new couple across the dance floor; now, things had finally calmed down a bit and Minseok returned to your side with a glass of amber liquid in hand which you gratefully took.
“It won’t be long now,” he said with a smirk.
“Won’t be long till what?”
“Well now that everyone has seen how young, gorgeous, and extremely single the new lady of the most powerful territory on the continent is…. Proposals are bound to come flooding in!”
You grimaced and punched him on the shoulder, “Don’t even joke about that!” He just winked and chuckled from beside you when suddenly you were being lifted up and twirled in the air. You let out a gasp of surprise when you were finally back on the ground and standing in front of Chanyeol who enveloped you in a bear hug. Yixing, Jongdae, and Baekhyun took up places beside MInseok as you squirmed from Chanyeol’s embrace.
“It’s nice to see you too Chanyeol but please let me go,” you wheezed as you finally broke from his grasp.
“Our little Y/n is so grown up and powerful now!” he exclaimed with a pout.
Beakhyun chimed in with a smirk, “We haven’t seen you in ages and now you come back in charge of Iyle? Shouldn’t you have mentioned it to us at least once?”
“I’m sorry, so much has happened over the past while and I didn’t even know myself until a few weeks ago.”
“You have to tell us everything Y/n!” Jongdae whined, joining in with Baekhyun and Chanyeol’s fake pouts.
“Watch what you say boy,” Yixing butted in with a smile and an arm over your shoulder, “It’s Lady Y/n now.”
Rolling your eyes you brushed him off with a smile, “It’s fine…”
“In all honesty Y/n, you look like a different person and not in a bad way,” he said with a comforting smile that only Yixing could create, “You seem so much more confident and it’s good to see.”
The other princes nodded along with him and you thanked them, you did feel different than the last time you saw them but you were glad they were back with you now, even if it was only for a few days. You continued to listen to them chatter away amongst themselves, making jokes just the same as they used too when a flash of pink tackled you in a hug.
“OH Y/N I MISSED YOU SO MUCH!” Jiyoon wailed, eyes watering as she clung onto you. “JIYOON!” You exclaimed wrapping your arms back around her as you both sobbed into the other’s shoulder. It had been so long since you’d seen her and immediately you started crying crocodile tears, staining both your dress and her. After a few seconds the latched onto your wrist and stood up again.
“We need to talk,” was all she said before dragging you away and towards one of the patio doors that was open and letting the warm night air flow through the great hall. All you could do was follow as you waved to the group of princes who stood there looking stunned. You followed her as she weaved around the patio until she found a secluded bench overlooking the spring garden where she sat you down.
“Y/n,” she sobbed again, “I missed you so much! You leave with Sehun and now you come back as the Lady of Iyle and you’re avoiding each other like the plague? I wrote you letters but Sehun just sent them back unopened, I thought you were dead!”
“I’m sorry,” you said lamely.
“What happened? You need to tell me everything.”
“He asked me to marry him… and I said no.”
“Oh Y/n,” she sighed taking your hand in hers, “I thought something like that might have happened, he’s always been so spontaneous, even since we were kids. But Y/n,” she paused, “Why did you say no?”
“Because I was afraid,” you whispered with tears in your eyes. You had never been able to tell anyone before but with Jiyoon it all just seemed to spill out of you like a waterfall.
“It’s okay,” she whispered, petting your hair calmly, “No wonder he was with that bitch Haerin. I hate to tell you this but even though we didn’t know, everyone started taking sides.”
“What?”
“You notice how only a few of the princes came to greet you right? Unconsciously, we’ve already started taking sides, Baekhyun, Chanyeol, Yixing, Jongdae, Minseok, and I are all on your side. Junmyeon, Jongin, and Kyungsoo are all siding with Sehun as well as most of their siblings.”
“I didn’t mean to create a rift between everyone.”
“Don’t worry about it,” she assured you, “Now tell me about this whole Lady of Iyle thing that happened.”
So you did, you explained everything about your father and mother, and how Lord Cha was the one that found you, and everything to do with the dead queen. She looked at you like you were insane but you knew she believed you.
“Oh Y/n…” she sighed, “I never thought…”
“It's okay,” you managed to say with a smile, taking her hand and giving it a squeeze this time.
“If it makes you feel any better, everyone on the continent knows your name, even though you’ve been ruling for such a short time your people love you!” You gave her a weak smile and the both of you sat in silence for a while.
“WIll you do me a favour and explain it to the others? I don’t think I have enough energy to explain it to everyone individually…”
“No problem! I’ll even tell Junmyeon and he’ll spread it to the rest of the boys.”
“Thank you so much,” You told her sincerely as you wiped a few stray tears from your eyes, “It feels really good to tell my best friend about all of this.”
“Anytime,” she told you with a smile, “now lets head back inside before people start to miss us, I swear when Chanyeol’s sister Princess Sejung gets bored all hell breaks loose!”
You laughed along with her as you wandered back through the wide patio doors and into the sea of people. Jiyoon was immediately swept away by the crowd leaving you alone in your search for the Princes, out of the corner of your eye you spotted Baekhyun chatting with some blushing ladies but before you could reach him you were spun around to face a smirking man with dark eyes and hair the colour of clouds.
“Nice to meet you Lady Y/n,” he purred, “I’ve heard a lot about you. My name is Taek, I’m the Governor’s son.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you,” You croaked out as he kissed your hand with a smirk.
“The pleasure is all mine, care for a dance?”
Before you had a chance to answer his hand was around your waist and you were one of the twirling couples on the dance floor. Though he didn’t look it, he was almost as graceful of a dancer as Jongin, he navigated through the swarm of bodies like he had been doing it all his life. And he probably had been, seeing as he was the son of the Governor.
“It’s not everyday you get to dance with the most beautiful and eligible lady at the ball,” he said with a shiny smile.
“I’m flattered,” you said skeptically. He wasn’t bad looking but his motives didn’t exactly seem chivalrous.
“When it was announced that the heir of Iyle had returned everybody thought it’d be some shrivelled old man, but when you entered, boy was everyone surprised.”
“I’m afraid I don't know if that was supposed to be a compliment or an insult,” you said with a frown as he twirled you around again.
“I meant surprised in the best way a man could, Lady Y/n. I assure you it was meant to be nothing other than a compliment,” he told you with a friendly chuckle, eyes glinting.
“I apologize, I am not quite used to the ways of court life yet.”
“I could hardly tell, you’re easily one of the most poised ladies here this evening and I see you are already close with the young royals?” He asked before lifting you up and shouting along with the others.
“You could say that…”
“As long as I’ve known them they’ve always been a tight knit group but now they’re taking over their parents rule and getting married like our King of Oclaria. Not much time for childish things when you’re the ruler of the country.”
With a small smile you nodded in agreement, “You’re quite right.”
“On the topic of marriage, I’d like to propose a deal,”
You looked at him quizzically, you had no interest in marrying this man you had just met but you were curious enough to gesture for him to continue.
“You see the girl the King is spending all his time with was my fiance but our engagement was cancelled once the King started taking interest in her,” he explained, “Now I am left without a wife and my father won’t let me take over the family business until I get married. Now seeing as we’re easily the two most powerful single people in this room aside from the King I think we should get married.”
You frowned, “I’m sorry but I fail to see how getting married to you would benefit me.”
Flashing you a smile that would make most girls swoon he swept you up again, “Well if we get married there really would be no downside. With both of our assets combined we would be filthy rich and have enough power to take over the country if we wanted. Aside from having a few sons you would have to do nothing but live a life of luxury after our marriage.”
“I’m sorry but I’ll have to turn down your proposal at this current point in time,” you told him with as straight a face as possible, “I’m really not interested in marrying right now.”
“Just think about it Lady Y/n,” he lamented, “together we could be the most powerful people on the continent!”
You huffed as the music came to a close and you stopped moving, he held you hand keeping you on the dance floor as those who wanted to leave cleared the floor and the orchestra began playing again. Just as you were about to answer him your hand was taken by somebody else, smoothly knocking his grasp from yours.
“Mind if I cut in?” Sehun asked, holding his arm tightly around you. It wasn’t exactly a question since he was the king but he still carried you off into the crowd of dancers before Lord Taek could answer.
“It’s quite a coincidence that you’ve managed to find yourself back in court isn’t it Lady Y/n?” he hissed in your ear, “When you left I thought I’d never see you again but now you return the most powerful Lady in the country. Aside from my future wife of course.”
“It is quite a coincidence isn't it,” You agreed with him keeping your voice as steady and emotionless as possible, “I’m not sure if I believe it myself yet either, it’s a lot of responsibility.”
He scoffed, “Well, we both know there were a lot of responsibilities you couldn’t handle either.”
You grimaced as he prepared to lift you over his head with a flourish. The lift and jumps were never your favourite part of dancing as you didn’t have the advantage of being much smaller than your partner like many of the other girls. It always felt awkward and this time was no different as you weren’t sure whether he would drop you or not.
“Now, it doesn’t seem like you have much choice about marriage,” he pointed out, “And it seems the governors son is already foaming at the mouth with the idea of marrying you?”
“You saw that?”
“Everyone did, he wasn’t exactly subtle with his proposal a few minutes ago.”
“Oh….” you sighed cheeks going warmer. The music slowed and people began to clap as the dance was finished. Partners were breaking apart and drifting back into the crowd but his hands only tightened around your waist as you tried to draw away from him. His rough fingertips dug into the bottom of your exposed back and you felt his breath against your neck as he leaned in to whisper in your ear.
“Lord Taek is a greedy bastard, maybe he deserves someone like you.” he spat at you before disappearing back into the crowd.
You stood there stunned for a few minutes until someone came up and grabbed your hand pulling you back into a swarm of people where you were quickly surrounded by the princes demanding for you to tell them what was going on. Quickly, you brushed them off and headed back to your room saying you felt ill and needed to rest.
-----
The clatter of people returning from the gala to their rooms had died down a long time ago but you were still wide awake. The clock on the wall chimed telling you it was three in the morning, the curtain danced in the warm summer air drifting in through the open balcony windows. Feeling restless you slipped a loose dress on over your nightgown and made your way through the silent palace corridors and into the gardens. Slowly and silently you made your way through the first five gardens, the sound of your slippers brushing against the plush grass, the hush of the wind dancing through the night, the soft trickle of the fountains, the chirping of crickets were the sounds that filled your ears in the silence. And cautiously you made your way from the garden of day into the garden of night.
It took your breath away, unlike the other gardens which glowed during the daylight hours but were otherwise dimmed by the absence of sunlight. The night garden glowed on it’s own. Purple wisteria spilled from every crack and crevice, hundreds of lights twinkling softly like stars hung from the domed glass roof giving off an otherworldly glow. You followed the twisting path in the tunnel of little purple flowers until finally it gave way to a large pond filled with little silver fish that seemed to glow in the moonlight. Continuing to follow the path around the side of the lake you came to a small structure sheltering an intricately carved marble bench. Sitting on the cool surface you took notice of the round white flowers that began to blossom in the moonlight; tentatively, you reached out a fingertip to brush against the soft petals.
“We call them moonflowers,” Sehun said, emerging from behind one of the pillars. Gone were his royal robes which he was wearing for the gala and now he was wearing something more similar to what he used to wear back in Arye. There was a certain charm that came with his messy hair and half buttoned shirt which had butterflies swarming in your stomach. It seemed so long ago that you were back in the palace of Arye, innocent and in love. Unaware of everything the world had in store for you.
“They’re beautiful,” you told him, returning your hand to rest in your lap.
“Couldn’t sleep?” he asked, you nodded, “Too busy worrying about who to invite to your wedding with Lord Taek?”
“I declined his proposal.”
“He doesn’t take no for an answer.”
“Well it’s the only answer he’s going to get!” You exclaimed jumping up.
You both stopped and stood in silence for a moment.
“I’m sorry, I don’t know what came over me,” you told him before dipping back into a lull of silence, “This place is really beautiful.”
“It’s always been for you, this garden. When you had nightmares I meant for you to come out here and have it be like your safe haven. Nobody except for the gardener is allowed in here still, and you of course.” He explained.
Smiling, you told him softly, “Thank you.”
“Don’t spend too much time out here,” he warned you, “There’s an early start tomorrow.”
“Goodnight,” you called after him as he disappeared down the path, leaving you alone with your thoughts again.
-----
With careful steps you climbed into the carriage, footmen closing the door tightly behind you. The line of carriages stretched through the whole driveway of the palace as the various guests loaded in. Jiyoon had offered to come with you so you wouldn’t be alone but you declined, the ride up the mountainside would give you time to relax from the night before. The second day of festivities would be a picnic on the mountaintop behind the palace, it was clear as the sun was shining down upon the palace that it would be a beautiful day full of fun. Peeking out the window of your carriage as you waited to set off you noticed you were dressed quite differently than many of the other ladies climbing into their own carriages. Many of them wore high necked, floor length dresses with varying sleeve lengths. They were made of lightly patterned cotton and lace in many layers to help the wearer remain cool in the warm sunlight. On the other hand you had opted for something a little more reminiscent of what people in Iyle wore in the south where it was much, much warmer. Your sleeves were short and puffed, ending about halfway down your upper arm,  like your dress from last night the neckline was wide and trimmed with lace while the back was low. With only one cotton layer dyed a soft periwinkle and spotted with many small blossoms the skirt ended midway down your calves giving you an ease of movement something longer wouldn’t allow. Opting to leave the parasol behind you donned a wide brimmed straw sun hat decorated with a ribbon matching the colour of the blossoms leaving your hair loose.
After a few minutes it seemed everybody was ready in their carriages and you set off with a lurch, rolling down the pebble drive and out the gates, up the mountain road. The view of the seaside cliffs from out your window caused you to reminisce about your trip down the coast for the first time you visited Iyle with the diving gulls and crashing waves, bordered by the swaying grasses and wildflowers. Drifting through daydreams it felt like hardly a moment had passed before you were climbing out and onto the plush grass. Blankets were already strewn about the meadow, each with a wicker basket placed in the center waiting for people to join them for lunch. One step at a time you made your way towards the open meadow until a flying ball of pink attached herself to your side with a giggle.
“Isn’t this amazing Y/n?” Jiyoon exclaimed as who you were guessing the two other princesses made their way over to your side, “This is Princess Sejung of Meadazia and Princess Hyejin of Qeca, I’m sure you haven’t forgotten them.”
“How could I?” you said with a smile, offering them both a small curtsy which only Hyejin returned. Jiyoon was the same as always, full of energy as she dragged the lot of  you away in order to find the best picnic spot. After a morning of playing about in the meadows the four of you settled down for lunch, weaving flowers into each other’s hats and hair. Other guests came by to chat time after time but none stayed long, moving onto the next blanket to continue their greetings.
After lunch was finished you and Jiyoon left the two sun fatigued princesses chatting with a group of young lords and ladies as you headed off to find the croquet set Sehun had mentioned to Jiyoon last night. Once the two of you found it you played round after round until finally you were released by a tap on the shoulder.
“Would you mind going for a stroll with me Lady Y/n?” Lord Taek asked with a sparkling smile.
You glanced over at Jiyoon who had quickly stopped paying attention to the game and started paying attention to the two of you. You turned back to him uncertain of what to say, “Well…”
“She’d love to go! It’s such a lovely afternoon isn’t it?” Jiyoon cut you off, grabbing the croquet mallet from your hands and shoving you towards him.
You stumbled and he caught your hand with a grin, “Thank you Princess, I’ll make sure to return her in one piece,” he told her.
“Don’t worry, you two go have fun!”
You shot her one last pleading look before you were dragged off behind Taek and down the hillside. Surprisingly he didn’t bring up the proposal again, the two of you spent most of the time talking and getting to know each other, the two of you were nowhere near close friends by the time dinner was called but you could say he would be a decent young man if he wasn’t so set on marriage.
Unlike lunch earlier dinner was a celebration meant to give thanks for the previous year’s good fortune with food, friends, family,  and as you quickly found out, lots and lots of drinking. You were only a few glasses of champagne in, when like the devil she was, Jiyoon made you drop your glass and join her in dancing around the bonfire.
“Hurry up Y/n!” she squealed as she kicked off her shoes, grabbed a handful of her long skirt and began spinning in circles to the hypnotizing beat of the drums. Feeling light from the bubbling beverage you followed suit, knocking off your hat and shoes, throwing your hands into the air with a shout of delight. The drum beats matched the pounding of your heart as you leaped around the growing fire, others equally as tipsy, if not more, quickly joined in with your pounding feet. The air filled with laughter, shouts, and music as you travelled around the circle linking arms and spinning with whoever wished to dance with you.  You were in a trance, the sparkling champagne infecting you, the drum beats carrying your feet for hours as the moon rose higher into the sky. Before you realized a cool breeze hit your cheeks and you felt yourself being pulled away from the large bonfire and towards a farther side of the meadow. The fresh evening breeze sobered you and you made out Lord Taek’s glinting smile from in front of you.
“I never would have expected you to be one for dancing,” he said stopping and spinning you in front of him. He leaned close and laughed, “or drinking.”
“And I never expected you to be the one waiting on the sidelines,” you hiccuped, you could feel the heat rising to your cheeks, were you really so drunk he could tell just from looking at you? You certainly didn’t feel drunk but maybe your vision was blurring at the corners just a little.
He scoffed, “Believe me, nobody loves to drink more than me. Unfortunately my mother has prohibited me from touching any and all alcohol today after what happened last year.”
“What happened last year?”
“It’s too late in the evening to get into it now,” he told you with a laugh, “Let’s just say I ended up with a few scars, but not nearly as many as you Lady Y/n,” he said grasping your arm and bringing it closer to his face so he could inspect it. You could feel the ill intention in his grasp as the silver stars twinkled in the moonlight. “Tell me dearest,” he whistled, “Where did you get these scars?”
The world snapped back into focus, suddenly it felt like and were crawling along every inch of your body, tiny pinpricks against every limb. You tore your arms from his grasp, hiding in protectively behind your back, “That’s none of your concern,” you sputtered out before stumbling back to the bonfire as fast as your jelly legs could carry you. The pounding of the drums once again drowned out your thoughts as you grabbed another glass of wine, and another, and then another before being pulled into the circle of dancing once again.
Slowly but surely the crowd trickled away, climbing into their carriages in a drunken stupor and being carted back to the palace. Eventually there were only only a few people left, Jiyoon and the other princesses have disappeared already along with the other princes whom you hadn’t seen much of during the day. Vision spinning you climbed into your carriage collapsing onto the plush seat as the driver shut the door behind you. The carriage dipped as you felt the driver climbing to his seat, you closed your eyes and rested your head against the side of the carriage but the telltale poll of the carriage didn’t come.
“Take us to the back entrance and if you tell anyone about this I’ll have you exiled!” The man outside the carriage ordered.
“Yes sir,” the driver replied as Sehun climbed into the carriage beside you and the horses began trotting away.
“Sehun…” you said breathlessly, “What are you doing here?” his face was flushed from drinking and his hair had escaped from its previous slicked back style and now was hanging in front of his dark eyes. You fingers twitched at the thought of running your hands through his hair as he loomed over you, gaze weighing heavily on your own.
“I want to be with you tonight,” was all he said before he attacked your lips. You gave in easily, mind clouded by drinks you were putty in his arms as he held you close to him. He was warm against the chill of the night and you gladly moved closer to him grabbing handfuls of his half unbuttoned shirt. You broke apart and you could feel his hot breath on your neck as he whispered in your ear.
“I'm still in love with you,” he breathed out, soul pouring through his eyes and into your own before you pulled his lips to yours. A few moments later he pulled away panting before gently moving away from your face and taking your hand in his placing a kiss on the scar closest to your wrist.
“You are beautiful,” he whispered against your skin before moving onto the next. He repeated this process kissing each and every scar on both of your arms and telling you how much he loved you before moving onto your back. The feeling of his rough lips against your back sent shivers down your spine and once he was finished your lips locked once more.
Once you reached the palace he pulled you behind him through the servants corridors stopping every few seconds to make sure you were still behind him as if he was afraid you were a dream and would disappear as soon as he looked away. The grand clock chimed for three in the morning when he pulled you into his chambers shutting the door and pressing you against it, kissing you passionately. Slowly as you moved closer to the bed his kisses grew softer and when he finally pulled himself away you met his eyes.
“Is this what you really want?” he asked between heavy breaths.
The air hung heavy as you slowly reached up to pull him into a kiss as your answer, when you broke away again you reached behind your back and slowly began undoing the buttons of your dress.
----
You woke as the clock chimed six with a start. The sun was just beginning to rise through the window and everything from the previous night came rushing back to you as your pounding headache cleared just enough to see who’s room you were in and your lack of any clothing. Thankfully Sehun was nowhere to be seen as you quickly threw your dress back on, collecting your shredded undergarments with an embarrassed blush before saying a quick prayer that you wouldn’t run into anyone in the hallway as you scurried back to your rooms. Thanking the gods that you weren’t caught you quickly ran yourself a hot bath, eager to wash last night not only from your body but your mind as well. The steam enveloped you, the scent of the bath oils filling the air as you let the heat of the water seep into your muscles. When you were finished you pulled on the soft robe and headed back into your room only to be met with Yixing sitting on an armchair next to the fireplace.
Quickly you pulled your robe even tighter and fastened the belt at the waist with multiple knots, “What are you doing here?” you exclaimed.
“Good Morning to you too Lady Y/n,” he said calmly, not moving from where he sat, “I’ll give you a few moments to get dressed then please come back here, I brought you breakfast and hangover medication. We have a lot to talk about.”
You gulped and nodded silently. Rarely was that amount of seriousness ever heard in Yixings voice so you scurried into your closet and pulled on a comfortable gown and plush sweater, quickly braiding your hair away from your face before returning back to the chair next to Yixing where breakfast awaited you. With a smile he urged you to take the medicine which quickly did a good job of clearing up most of your headache leaving only a dull throbbing.
He cleared his throat and placed his cup of tea back down on the table, folding his hand in his lap in a very royal manner, “I saw you last night,” he said.
You gaped at him, you thought that everyone would have already passed out cold by the time you and the King reached the palace, “How?” was all you asked.
“I came back earlier with Baekhyun who was far beyond drunk, I was heading to the kitchen to get a cup of tea and some things for him in the morning after I finally got him settled when I saw the two of you dashing through the servants corridors. I followed you just to make sure you were alright and I saw the two of you disappear into Sehun’s room,” he cleared his throat, “I pretty much assumed what happened after you didn’t come out for a while.”
Your cheeks were the brightest pink you had ever been before, you were so sure nobody had seen you and yet, one of  your closest friends had caught the two of you in the act.
“Nobody else saw you two, just me,” he assured you, “But Y/n you know what this means for your future marriage. You must be careful from now on, I won’t tell anyone but you have to make sure nobody finds out,” he warned, “If they do, the chances of you finding a husband are slim to none.”
“I know,” you said, head hanging.
“The one way around that would be to marry Sehun,” he told you softly, “I don’t want to worry you Y/n, but what if you’re pregnant? It’s almost impossible to get the herb that will stop your pregnancy anywhere on the continent after it was outlawed and the fields were burned by our predecessors. What will you tell people then?”
“I don’t know.”
He squeezed your hand in a comforting manner, “I don’t mean to burden you but I just want you to make sure you’re being careful. I’ll help you in any way I can, I promise.”
“Thank you,” you told him with a weak smile.
“The ball is tonight,” He said standing and moving towards the door, “I don’t want to tell you something you already know but if things don’t go the way you want, my door is always open.”
He shut the door behind him as he left leaving you to finish eating alone. After spending your morning alone in your room as the clock struck twelve noon you headed down to the Library to eat lunch with Jiyoon and the other princesses. As they chattered away like the small birds outside your window in the morning you kept to yourself, focusing more on the food in front of you than the conversation around you. Yesterday you had agreed to spend the afternoon with the girls as they got ready for the Solstice ball that evening, it was the grandest party of the summer and they assured you that they would need all the time they could manage. As soon as the four of you had finished your plates were cleared and you headed up to Jiyoon’s chambers. Being the ever so attentive friend she was, Jiyoon noticed something was up and pulled you aside.
“Is something going on Y/n? You don’t seem like yourself…” she asked, taking your hand in hers.
You smiled softly and gave her hand a squeeze, “I’m sorry, I’m just so exhausted after last night. I had too much to drink and not enough sleep but I’ll be okay by this evening,” you assured her, “I left my things in my rooms, I’ll come straight here after I go and get it.”
She nodded and dropped your hand. You gave her a small wave before she disappeared into her chambers and you down the hall. When you had almost reached your rooms you paused when angry voices came drifting from one of the conference rooms.
“You must make a decision, your highness! The solstice ball is tonight!”
“Things in the Southern Continent are getting restless,” a second male voice shouted, “There will be a war soon and you must marry to secure your throne!”
“Forget Lady Haerin,” A third one said, “Marry Lady Y/n, she is the most powerful of any lord or lady in our country!”
“Things are no different in your brother’s country,” the second one said again, “His advisors are pressuring him to marry more than we are you! You are not a child anymore.”
You backed away mind spinning from the information you had gotten from only a few sentences. There would be a war with the southern continent? Lord Cha had mentioned trade had been slow but you had no idea. You quickly shook it off and moved on to your rooms before anyone could catch you listening in or Jiyoon would get worried.
----
Your mind was elsewhere as you let Jiyoon do what she would with your appearance, hours seemed to fly by so quickly until you were standing in front of the grand ballroom as the Speaker announced your arrival. You went in before Jiyoon since she was at a higher position than you were, the grand staircase seemed shorter than last time with everybody milling about and almost no eyes on you. As an attempt to avoid attention you had decided forgo the original dress you had planned to wear and wear something more plain. It was white with vines of little red flowers strewn around your shoulders, waist, and wrists. You definitely blended into the background compared to the dresses some of the other girls were wearing, Jiyoon sparkled next to you as you walked up to the dias to greet the king. The entire time you kept a blank expression, eyes trained on the floor, as you dropped into a low curtsy mumbling out a “Your Majesty,” before breaking apart from Jiyoon who joined her family sitting atop thrones and headed back into the crowd. Once everybody had been checked off the guest list one of the royal advisors climbed atop a pedestal and rang a small but piercing bell, drawing the attention to himself.
“The purpose of this evening’s ball is for His Royal Highness, The King, to have a final chance to spend time with the eligible ladies of the continent before choosing his bride. At midnight I ask you please to gather back here for the King to announce his bride and without any further, please let the festivities commence.”
The band struck up a tune and the dancefloor quickly filled with people, you wandered off to the agreed upon meeting place for you and Jiyoon once she was released from her royal duties. For most of the night you stayed huddled behind a large sculpture of flowers reading the small book about the continent’s greatest composers you had stashed in the many layers of your skirts. Jiyoon stayed to chat and keep you company for a while but left quickly to flit around the crowds dancing and chatting like the social butterfly she was. People came and went, most who saw you turned away at the first glimpse of you looming behind a book but the Princes periodically stopped to chat without you, hiding from their parents or the hordes of girls always swarming around them. Finally the all ganged up on you, Baekhyun stole your book and Minseok pulled you onto the dance floor, despite the constant panic at the back of your mind you found yourself having a good time with them as they traded off with you for dances. When they were finally done with you, your book was returned and you headed back to your spot with a dazed smile.
It was almost Midnight and Sehun hadn’t paid any attention to you all night, every now and again you would see him with Haerin hanging off his arm but nothing more. As you emerged from the edge of the crowd into the shaded wings of the ballroom you were met with the man himself.
“Follow me,” he muttered before turning and disappearing through one of the doors that led to the garden. You turned back to the crowd and quickly spotted a fuming Haerin before a hand grabbed your wrist and Sehun pulled you into the garden behind him.
“You should listen to the king when he gives you an order,” he said as you trailed behind him. You stayed silent until he finally stopped you in the middle of a patch of rose bushes.
You looked up to meet his eyes and tightened your fists around your skirts, trying not to let the small bit of hope you had left peek through if he was just going to torture you, “It’s almost midnight,” you told him, “You need to be inside to announce who you’re going to marry, why are you out here… with me?”
“I need to know,” he told you, reaching out to grab your hands softly in complete contrast to before, “I know I said I wouldn’t ask again but you have to tell me the truth now, after everything that’s happened. I love you more than anything in the world and no matter how many times I try to convince myself otherwise my heart always ends up going back to you and I think you feel the same way. This isn’t just for political power it’s because I want you and I have wanted you long before you became the Lady of Iyle. I need to know now, Y/n, if I asked you to marry me what would you say.”
You looked deep into his eyes and saw a reflection of yourself inside and whispered with all your heart, no moment of doubt, “Yes.”
He kissed you softly before heading back indoors right as the clock chimed for midnight hand intertwined with yours. Your heart pounded  in your ears as he slipped his hand from yours and weaved around the crowd to stand with his advisors on the dias. Jiyoon quickly found your side as the same advisor from earlier began speaking, she squeezed your hand.
“Now, as the clock strikes midnight, his Royal Highness, King Sehun, will announce who will become his bride and the next queen of Oclaria.”
Everyone was silent as the trumpets wailed and Sehun stepped forward slowly, you felt eerily calm as your eyes moved across the crowd, seeing Haerin looking smug at the front of the crowd, and finally landing on Sehun where his gaze met yours.
“I am pleased to announce,” he said calmly, eyes never leaving yours, “That my bride and the next queen of Oclaria will be… Lady Y/n of Iyle!”
The crowd erupted around you as you took in all the shocked faces of officials throughout the room. You felt Jiyoon hug you tightly screaming into your ear before four guards surrounded you and brought you through the crowd and to the dias. Sehun outstretched his hand with a smile and without hesitation you placed your hand in his and stepped in front of the throne beside him and looked out across the crowd of cheering people with your hand still firmly wrapped in his.

Humans are Space Orcs, “Rival in the Circle pt. 2″
WARNING: important life lesson immanent.  Please read to the end line because there is something important I think people today need to see :)
Also, Sorry if there are any Issues, I am at the airport again running on 4 hours of sleep, so hope you like it.”
Sunny’s heart hammered in her chest, the world around her seemed to spin in tight concentric circles. Moss stood before her head proudly raised against the darkening sky. When she didn’t answer immediately, he moved forward and placed a hand on her shoulder. The gesture was surprisingly human, but most of the Drev had been affected to some degree by living with their human counterparts.
“You have proven yourself to be a commanding warrior, more honorable than your mother, and more rational than your father. You led our species into a new era, and you deserve everything that comes with that, a battle partner equal to your skill, a large brood, which is an offering that I gladly give you now. Allow me to prove myself in combat against you.” A beam of light cut through the volcanic smoke and glittered across his perfect green carapace.
That green had mesmerized her younger self. She had always admired it, found it entrancing. Moss himself, other than being a worthy mate in his level of attractiveness, was an impressive warrior in his own right. She had doubts that she would be able to beat him in open combat.
From somewhere deep inside her, she felt an up-welling of shame and embarrassment.
“Is everything alright?”
Sunny turned her head to find Commander Vir standing at her side looking up with concern. HIs bright green eye brimmed with worry for her. A hand rested on her arm, and she couldn’t tell if the gesture was supposed to be comforting….. Or protective.
“This does not concern you, human.” Moss said stiffly not taking his eyes from Sunny.
Commander Vir pursed his lips into a thin line, “To the contrary, ‘Moss’, it would be my business considering I am your Commanding officer, not only aboard the ship but also by the traditions of your people.”
The two stared at each other for a long moment, but then Moss shrugged, “You do not have to worry, Commander. I am simply and humbly offer myself to Sunny as a proper and respectable battle partner.” He glanced towards Sunny, “An offer I hope you accept.” He turned to walk away, but then paused at the edge of the rock outcropping, “I will be at the furthest circle to the north at dawn. I hope to see you there.”
***
Sunny stood watching as The tiny green spec vanished into the distance with Commander Vir standing still beside her. She glanced towards him from the corner of her eye trying to gage his reaction, though she still wasn’t sure about her own feelings on the subject. He was hard to read, very still, unmoving staring off into the distance. His face was completely neutral…. But the eyes, what was that she saw.
He turned towards her cleared his throat and then ... smiled, “He’s… a good guy, you know, smart and….. And a good warrior of course, can’t forget that. Um…”
“Are you ok?”
He waved a hand, “Not important. I should be asking you the same question.”
Sunny paused, distant laughter echoed in her head, “Um…. I’m not sure yet. I mean…. He is a good warrior…”
“And that carapace…. Green’s your favorite color isn’t it?” She watched as he glanced towards the vacant suit of Armor, which glittered a green not dissimilar to Moss’s armor. The human shuffled his feet awkwardly as he looked away, “Well I, should let you prepare. I mean this is a big deal, he practically proposed, so don’t let me get in your way.” He gave her a smile that definitely seemed genuine, though there was something about it she couldn't place, and turned to walk away passing by the armor without so much as looking at it.
That left her alone atop the hill staring down at her own feet.
She had been honest earlier, she didn’t know what she was supposed to feel, didn’t know what she ACTUALLY felt about any of this. She turned in a tight circle before sighing and taking a seat on a moss-covered rock. Ever since she was young, she had longed for a true battle partner, someone who would be able to match her skill and capabilities, someone who would always have her back, but lately she realized that she hadn’t thought much about that longing. Perhaps she just assumed that it would never happen, and as what Moss said about a large brood…
Did she really want that? Tradition and everything she had been taught since she was a child told her that she SHOULD want a large brood with many kits raised as great warriors, but that had never been something that caught her fancy. Kits were…. A handful, and she wasn’t well equipped to deal with them, so she had never really desired that part of things.
But did she really want this at all, or was that just her upbringing talking. Her mother’s teachings worming their way into her head. She sighed and looked down at her feet.
Shouldn’t she be happy about this, shouldn’t she be ecstatic that someone would be interested in her. She who was short, a slow learner, and only capable of winning battles by fighting like a human. This was likely her only change, and with someone she had admired since she was a child.
She sighed in frustration at her own thoughts and looked up. The sun was coming up, and as it did, the light was captured and then reflected by the green armor of the exo-suit. She stood and walked over to the armor in frustration, “What is wrong with me.”
The empty shell stared back at her without expression. It was just an empty, heartless thing. Nothing without the person that belonged inside of it, and even then it was just… wrong.
She sighed again in frustration and turned away.
***
Commander Vir accompanied her to the circle. Walking with him, she couldn’t read what he was thinking, and still wondered why she even cared. But of course she did, he was her friend, her best friend, and he had helped her through everything. He had accepted her before anyone else had, before even her own kind. Despite what she had done to him so long ago, he had been the first person to trust her, the first person to think she was something more than the tribe screw-up, and she felt that she owed pretty much everything to him.
“Nervous ?” He wondered flashing her another one of his unreadable smiles.
Gah! She wished humans were easier to read, she felt that she had gotten the hang of it, but the sheer control they had over their facial muscles was unreal. They paused together at the crest of a hill looking down at the northern circles. Moss was already there preparing, she could see his green carapace glittering in the sun as he danced about twirling his spear this way and that. His form was good...
Ad he looked good doing it. He was strong and precise.
A hand rested on her arm.
She looked down to find the human looking up at her large green eyes focused intently on her pupils wide black holes in the sea of green, “Look, Sunny, I…. I just want you to know that. No matter what, and no matter what you choose to do that, well, I am here to support your decision, and if this means that you are going to stay here with-with Moss and raise tons of tiny Drev babies than, well then I reserve the right to visit…. Also you have to name your first born after me, that’s non negotiable…. And if you guys decide to stay on the ship, than …. I hope that we can still be friends.” he ran a hand through his spiky blond hair, and scratched absently at the eye patch.
He cleared his throat again.
She looked down at the circle, “Thanks Ada- Commander.”
She thought she saw the man grow stiff, but as soon as it had come it had gone. The smile he gave her was just as warm as before, but more wooden, “Good Luck.” When she turned back, it wasn’t her friend standing atop the apex of the hill, but Fleet commander of the UNSC, and representative of the GA. His chin was raised high, his body at parade rest at-ease with his feet at shoulder width and his hands clasped loosely behind his back.
Moss looked up as she entered the circle, and spectators began to gather at its edges. A reconciler pushed his way through the throng and set himself up at the edge of the circle. With a loud clatter, he slammed his staff against the hard packed ground silencing the crowd. The reconciler was an old one, well past his prime with a deep black carapace that shimmered a deep and distinguished blue in the sunlight. The black and red cloak he wore fluttered in the volcanic breeze, and the staff he held in one hand was run through with strips of blue power fro the internal charging mechanism.
“Let it be made official that on this day the 50th under Teroc, our first moon, that Moss Volcanson challenges Sunny Lumnusdaughter to trial by combat as an offering to become a mated battle pair. As Blackrock Reconciler of Moss and Sunny’s original tribe, I hereby oversee this match as official and, in accordance with our traditions and laws I see the ring has been measured to approximate fighting length. Fighting may not leave the circle for a more than unreasonable time, determined by the laws set down by our ancestors. The match will be conducted to failure, unconsciousness, surrender, stalemate, or until one of you can o longer fight either by way of incapacitation or death.” He pointed one long talon at Sunny, “Choose your weapon.”
She didn’t skip a beat, “I choose hand to hand combat.”
Moss’s weapon was confiscated, handed to the side to be guarded over by a younger Drev assistant.
“Very well.” He slammed his staff against the ground with a thundering crack, “Do not hold back, do not show mercy, for you will only know if you are matched with each other if you cannot beat one another, or if the prospect is very difficult.” Sunny could still see Adam standing atop the hill watching. One green eye flashed with the light of the rising su.
The reconciler raised his staff, and Sunny was struck by another cloudy memory, one of a similar circle, Moss’s voice, the warmth of the stone under feet.
Stay down Sunny, before you embarrass yourself.
Laughter
The Staff slammed against the ground, and Moss lunged. Sunny dodged to the side faster than thinking intending to punch him in the side as he came, but he knew the human tricks and quickly swerved away
There is still time to forfeit.
She lunged forward catching him on the side of the head with a strike before dodging under another. He caught her with one of his lower arms, but it was smaller, and weaker, and better than getting caught by the larger arm. She grabbed him around the knees, lifted and fell backwards.
He hit the stone hard with a grunt , and she rolled to the side lunging for his neck very much intending to choke him.
Stay down, Sunny, before you embarrass yourself.
He rolled onto his back and kicked her in the chest violently. She hit the dirt, but quickly leaped to her feet even as he did. Together they charged across the circle making contact over and over and over again. She dodged a punch and caught him in the jaw with a bone crushing uppercut. Then she slammed her foot into the top of his and kneed him aggressively as he doubled over. He grunted and stumbled backwards falling over himself, but not completely.
He caught her next kick and dragged her to the ground trying to gain control that way, but she caught him in the face with a foot, and again they were both on their feet. What followed was a flurry of hands and claws blocking, swiping, punching. Sunny ducked under a punch, sidestepped a kick, then with a quick thought, she kicked a loose piece of porous stone into the air, caught it by one hand, and slammed it hard into the side of Moss’s head.
There was a clatter of stone underneath him as he staggered horribly. The crowd roared, but since the reconciler didn’t call her out, she kept going.
As she approached again, Moss turned to look at her. In his eyes….. She saw….
Surprise.
He hadn’t expected her to be this good.
There is still time to forfeit.
Honestly Sunny, what were you thinking. Moss is one of our best soldiers, and you… well…
She roared and slammed her elbow into his jaw.
He slammed to the ground hard, but she didn’t stop. She tackled him sending them both spinning across the stone with a clatter. They struggled for a long time neither of them able to gain the upper hand.
Stay down, Sunny, before you embarrass yourself.
She had been here before, in the circle with Moss. She had tried to forget it for years, tried to bite down the horrible embarrassment and inadequacy that she felt as her mother dragged her out of the circle, and Moss looked at her with pity. He hadn’t wanted her because she was short, and worse at fighting, but he hadn’t just beaten her like he should have. He went easy, he refused to fight her, he insulted her.
With a great heave, she grabbed him around the neck, and locked her legs around his waist.
He seemed surprised at her ferocity, but she didn’t let go.
He bucked and turned, but she just gripped harder.
The circle was loud with cheering and howling, so no one heard the whispering, “You bastard.” She muttered softly, “I looked up to you once, I wanted you, but I wasn’t good enough.”
Moss choked and gagged, “You ... weren't… as… good.”
“I know that.” She hissed, “But you refused to fight me, you insulted my honor greater than death, and now you expect me to come running back to you now that I can fight. You weren’t attracted to me then so you aren't now. The only thing that has changed is my power and status.” She gripped tighter, and he choked, “I NEVER recovered from that. They laughed at me, my parents almost disowned me. How dare you assume I would want YOU after your disrespect for me.”
He gagged.
“Look at me, and tell me you liked me then?”
He choked some more, “I don’t know… you weren't…. Tall eno-”
That was it. She crushed harder, he opened and closed his mouth like a fish, “Wrong answer.”
She felt nothing but anger as he struggled to breathe. How dare he think he could just crawl into her life like this, like she would pick him up because he was the first person to show interest in her because he was wrong. She had more self respect than that, she deserved more than that.
She deserves someone who respected her, who treated her as an equal, who, if not liking her from the beginning, could see past the ONE physical deficiency, someone who didn’t care about her power or lineage.
She deserved someone she could trust, who wouldn’t insult her, and didn’t ignore her because it was convenient. If he truly cared about her, he would have been with her through her hardest times even if she didn’t want it.
This was taking too long. with one hand, she drew back and cracked him over the head. The blow was so powerful that he went limp in her arms twitching slightly. The group around her was silent as she slowly stood dappled with blood.
“I win the duel, and I reject his offering.”
A stunned silence grew up around her as she stepped from the circle and onto the stone. A group of human marines gaped at her with open mouths as she walked past and out onto the open plane, alone.
She walked for a few minutes before she heard it.
The soft pattering of feet, and the sudden weight at her back. He didn’t say anything but rested his hands on her shoulders as she continued over the stone. The ground rolled by below her feet covered in a colorful array of plantflie. Adam’s breath was soft and rhythmic as she carried the two of them over the stone The weight was comforting, but the silence heavy.
“Wanna hear a joke?”
“My life.” She muttered
There was a pause, “Well actually, I was going to say your face, but I suppose your life works just as well.”
Silence.
And then she burst into a fit of laughter, which he joined in on. Together their voices rattled across the ground bouncing over stone and rippling outwards.
She wouldn’t mourn what she lost in Moss
After all she’d rather have dignity than company.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You were hurt, you knew that it was going to happened because of his reaction when he first saw it but hearing it from someone else just made it more realistic. It made you angry that he didn’t have the courage to come up to you and tell you to your face but he had no problem sending his friend to tell you how he felt. You remember there was a time that he would tell you everything, even the little things, he was so opened with you but know it’s like you’re meeting a different side of Chan. One that you didn’t like.
Weeks passed and you were starting to show more and more but it wasn’t to noticeable to others, you were wearing big sweaters and since you barely had any friends nobody knew besides you, Minho and Chan, at least you hoped. You decided to wear leggings with a big sweater it was cute outfit but you couldn’t help but feel that you looked bigger than the day before. Today seemed like everybody was excited about someone new but you didn’t pay much attention, you just simply didn’t care.
You were in your locker when you felt the presence of two people next to you. You looked up and saw Woojin and Changbin just starting at you, “Umm yes?” You asked them while grabbing your book and closing your locker, turning to face them. “Right (y/n), we just wanted to see how you were doing?” Woojin asked breaking the awkward silence between you three. “Oh umm I’m doing good, why do you ask?” you asked skeptical. Chan’s friends never talked to you only when you were dating Chan, so this was a bit awkward that all the sudden they started to talk to you again.
“That’s great to hear, umm do you mind coming with us?” Changbin asked you but before you could say no you were being dragged by them to who knows where. “Guys! what are you guys doing? I can walk by myself” you said trying to get out of their hold. “We know but we were told to bring you to the roof!” Woojin said, pulling you close so you wouldn’t bump into other people, who were walking the opposite direction. You saw the stares that you were getting and heard the whispers from your classmates. You pulled away and stopped walking making both Woojin and Changbin stop as well.
“What the hell are you guys trying to do? Who told you to take me to the roof?” You demanded from them but they just looked at one another, as if they were communicating with their eyes. You knew who wanted to talk to you but the fact that he had to send his friends to get you just pissed you off. ‘Is he that embarrassed to be seen talking to me?” You thought. “If Chan wants to talk to me, he can come find me. He has done it before, so why can’t he do it now? Why did he send you guys to come get me?” You asked scared to know the answer.
“Look (y/n), we are just doing what he told us to do. We don’t want any trouble or mean any harm towards you but can you just please come with us” Woojin plead. “No, Chan has no problem showing up when he wants to. Why can’t he do it now?” You asked. “He doesn’t want Rachel to know he is talking to you okay? He is scared that if she sees you guys talking, she is going to get mad and leave him” Changbin said while looking anywhere else but you. You scoff, “You can’t be serious! You can tell Chan that he can shove it up his ass for all I care” You told them, starting to walk away. “Please (y/n) just talk to him, all he wants is to talk to you” Woojin said pulling you back. “No Woojin, he always does this. Whenever I start to feel like I’m moving on he comes back and just makes it harder. He already told Minho to tell me he didn’t want anything to do with me! I’m doing exactly what he wants, even though its killing me inside. But I’m cooping so no I won’t go, please go tell that to your precious leader” you told them walking away.
You were walking down the hall to go to lunch, your baby was hungry but because of the incident you weren’t really paying attention and you crashed against someone. You would of fallen on your face but the person grabbed you before you could. You looked up and you saw the most beautiful human your eyes laid eyes on. “Are you okay?” He asked you, you were so caught up in his eyes that you didn’t hear him the first time.
“Oh what? I’m so sorry I wasn‘t looking where I was going. Are you okay?” You asked while pulling away. “Haha I’m fine, I’m more concerned for you since you seemed a bit paced out” He said while chuckling, you couldn’t lie and say that wasnt the most sexist sound you ever heard and his smile “OMG his smile” you caught yourself thinking. “Oh haha sorry it just I’ve never seen you here before. Are you new?” You asked while pulling your books closer to you, smiling at him. “Yea, today is my first day. My name is Jungkook!” He said while extending his hand for you to shake. You shook his hand, “Welcome Jungkook, I’m (Y/N)” He smile at you.
You heard a cough next to you causing both of you guys to break eye contact, “(y/n) I was looking for you!” You recognize that voice, Chan. You signed and close your eyes taking a deep breath, just hearing his voice makes you want to cry. “Chan, what can I help you with?” you said while turning to face him. “I need to talk to you, about you know what?” He told you while looking between you and Jungkook. “Oh hey man, you new here?” Chan asked Jungkook. “Yea, today is my first day here, Jungkook” Jungkook said while giving him a hand shake. “Hey Jungkook, I’m Chan or Chris, whichever you rather call me. How are you liking your first day?” Chan asked completely forgetting about you. That was something that you love about Chan that no matter who he meets he always makes them feel welcome, he was just so nice to everybody, except you.
“You know so far so good. I just bump into this lovely lady while trying to find the cafeteria” He said while giving you his bunny smile. You saw Chan make a face when he said lovely, it shattered you heart because it look like he was disgusted by the fact that someone find you lovely. You could feel your self-esteem breaking little by little.
“Oh don’t worry man, its just straight ahead to your right” He said while giving him directions. “I would take you but I really need to talk to her” Chan said while grabbing your wrist. “Excuse us” and with that you were getting pulled the opposite direction towards the roof, you saw Jungkook giving you guys an odd look. ‘Curse Chris and his timing’, you thought.
“What is it chan? Can’t you see I was talking to someone!” You told him while trying to pull away. “Yea, I can see you were totally talking. Didn’t think I didn’t see the way you guys looked at each other” He finally let go when you guys arrived on the roof. “Why do you care? I have the right to move on just like you did” You barked back, “The hell you are!” He said looking rather pissed, “You are carrying my child and if you think I’m going to let another guy come in the picture, you are mistake” He said while glaring at you. “Who the hell do you think you are to tell me what to do! You BROKE UP with me, to be with bitch Rachel. I have every right to find someone else!” You yelled, your hands becoming fist. “HAHA don’t fucking make me laugh! Don’t call Rachel a bitch because she is far from that!” “You don’t tell me what to do! Got it! It’s my life!!”
Chan caged you between the wall and himself, he was glaring at you and if looks could kill, you’ll be dead by now “Listen to me, you’re mine! As long as you are carrying my child, you and him or her are mine! I don’t care if we aren’t together, you be outta your goddamn mind if you think I’m going to let another guy take care of what’s mine! got it!” He told you in a low voice, before you could reply his lips where on yours. You tried pushing him away but you’ve missed his kisses so much that you lost yourself and ended kissing him back.
“Why are you doing this to me Chan?” was the last thing you thought before getting lost in the kiss.

15. Which actor or actress you want as your bestfriend, older sister, older brother, boyfriend /girlfriend?
Oooo it’ll be nice to be friends with them all but for my best friend, prolly Kim Go Eun. I want Kim Ji Won as my noona and Ji Chang Wook as my oppa (I heard he has great manners :D). And maybe I’m the only one but I would feel extremely uncomfortable to date my bias so I’mma hv to skip that last one lol
16. Who is your favourite kdrama male character?
Again, I never really think about these but the one and only dokkaebi will get points for how hilarious his character is as a whole
17. Who is your favourite kdrama female character?
Literally just finished watching Revolutionary Love, and Byun Hyuk is not the only one that fell in love with Baek Joon’s strong personality. Totally love this girl!!!
18. What is your least favourite drama?
There were several kdramas that I discontinued because I was bored and just sorta disliked it (like it’s not my type). Most of these are action-genred dramas and the ones that are political and pretty heavy (like I didn’t finish vagabond and k2 although they are actually really good ones, I just don’t really like the genres that’s all), but out of all of these I’d probably hv to choose Abyss (stopped watching it after only 2 episodes) or Cheese In The Trap (THE ENDING OMGG I WANNA CRY 😭😭 CITT IS LITERALLY MY FAV WEBTOON AND THE DRAMA’S ENDING RUINED THE WHOLE THING)
19. How were you introduced to kdrama?
Well I’ve known kdramas ever since I was little (I used to join my cousins sometimes while they were watching them) but as a summary, I liked dramas because of webtoon (like drama genre yk) and at that time my cousins and one of my aunt who were at my house at the time were binge-watching CLOY so I sorta joined and watched like half of it, and when it was done there were other kdrama reccs there (we were watching it on netflix) and one of them was WWWSK and I was sorta interested and curious so I decided to watch it with my aunt. Ever since then I’ve been obsessed with kdramas that I binge-watch them everyday lol
20. What was your first drama?
Technically the first drama I’ve finished was What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim (step one on being a PSJ fan woohoooo), but back then when I was little I sometimes joined my cousins when they were watching The Heirs and My Love From The Star
21. Who is your least favourite drama character?
Ooh, the Jang family from Itaewon Class got me on my nerves but both psychopaths from Strong Woman Do Bong Soon and Suspicious Partner are definitely really annoying like why would u kill people for no reason you 미친 사이코 또라이
22. Who is your least favourite actor or actress?
I don’t have a least fave bcs personally I think all of these actors and actresses are talented so like 🤷🏻‍♀️
23. Which actor or actress you want to marry?
As I said before, I would feel extremely uncomfortable if I’m dating my bias, so don’t even think about how I would feel if I married them
24. Is there a drama you wished that drama is your real life?
Wow okay but like EXO Next Door would be incredible lmfaooo (although I’m not rlly a fan of kpop but imagine being friends with all of the members of a popular kpop group like wow)
25. Which drama character you wished to have as your real life girlfriend or boyfriend?
Omg just a clueless romantic like Haru would be adorableee, or someone who is crazy over their gf like Ahn Min Hyuk would be amazhangg
26. Is there a drama character you wished that is you?
Wow I mean like being Do Bong Soon is great bcs 1. You hv superpowers and that’s already amazing on its own but then 2. Legit two handsome guys like you and just AAAA (also 3. She doesn’t hv any past traumas or somn and her relationship with everyone is alright)
27. Do you like noona romances?
Wow tbh nope, I never really liked noona romances, I mean like I’m already sorta uncomfortable when the lead man is older than the lead woman by like a decade or somn (like goblin omg), so like imagine if the woman is now older than the man by a decade (I mean like tbh I don’t rlly like it whenever the girl is older than the guys but eh whatevs)
28. What is your favourite sismance and bromance?
Bromance: KIM. SHIN. WANG. YEO. BEST BROMANCE DRAMA. ENOUGH SAID. EVERYONE CAN AGREEEE
Sismance: Fight For My Way’s Choi Ae Ra and Baek Seol Hee, I mean like,, friendship goals. Periodt.
29. Do you get second lead syndrome for both actors and actresses both?
Yesss, but I tend not to ship them and get too attached to them too much bcs ik they would never be endgame so like T.T
30. In which drama you had the worst second lead syndrome?
LITERALLY WATCHING IT RN AND I FEEL SO BAD FOR KIM SHIN HYUK OMGG 😭😭 (oh and also CITT’s Baek In Ho, like I didn’t ship them at all in the webtoon but their chemistry in the drama is urghhh I feel so bad for my babyy 😭 that’s also how I became a Seo Kang Joon fan YASSS)
31. What is your favourite drama in this year?
Well if you’re talking about drama that I watched this year, it’ll be too many as I’ve only just started watching kdramas literally March this year, so I’ll only perceive this as my favorite drama that was released in 2020, which is Backstreet Rookie although a lot of ppl actually hated it. Personally I disagree with those points too (adult webtoon, prostitution, underaged kissing, etc) but I really like how it’s such a funny comical drama, like those types of dramas are my favorite
32. Can you understand korean without subtitles?
Definitely not but that is indeed my goal yeeyee
33. What is your message to your favourite actor and actress?
You guys are amazing and all of us in the kdrama community will always support all of you, so HWAITING!! 💜

Chanyeol’s eyes are sharp when he takes in the other man across him. “Yoonoh,” he says, voice low. You’re friends with Yoonoh. Of course you are.
You pull at the edge of your dress with small movements, clearly lost at the situation you’ve found yourself in so suddenly. Everything was fine, just a second ago. You were even getting along with Chanyeol, for the first time in — ever. “You guys know each other?” you ask, eyes flicking between the two men who stand tall above you. Your confused pout is back.
“Something like that,” Yoonoh just says, glaring at the other with lighting in his eyes. His blond hair is slightly messy, but the dark circles around his eyes prove that he didn’t go to sleep yet tonight, so you couldn’t have woken him up when you texted.
Chanyeol’s eyes slowly shift from the violent stare of the other to catch your eyes, wide and confused in the situation. He briefly wonders how much you really know about the friends you’ve made, tongue peeking out to wet his bottom lip. “Are you sure you’re gonna be okay?” At the low tremble of his voice, your pout morphs more to a frown.
“Of course,” you nod, crossing your arms across your chest as a distraction from the obvious tension. Your eyes keep flicking between the blond to your right, and Chanyeol. “I’ll be fine. Besides, I’ve sobered up a little already.” You hold out your arm and then tap your nose with a smile, almost missing it. The tallest moves his eyes from you back to the man across him, clenching his jaw. “Don’t worry about me,” you mumble, voice small in the silence outside the party.
“I’m not worried about you,” Chanyeol responds, jerking his head instead towards Yoonoh to drive the point home. He catches your movements out of the corner of his eyes, as you drop your arms to rub your hands over your thighs back and forth, clearly feeling the cold now. Yoonoh’s frown is harsh, digging into his face like it’s not planning to leave. It makes him look vicious, something Chanyeol almost finds laughable. How can he be territorial when he and his friends are the ones who are trying to sneak into their circle of power like they own the place? If they were smart, they’d just stick to themselves and hope that Exo doesn’t find out about them.
Yoonoh runs a hand through his hair, before blowing out a tense breath. He glances over at you then, and smiles a tad bit, looking forced if anything. “Why don’t you head to the car, Dew? I’ll catch up in a second.” You open your mouth to respond, but stop midway when his hand wraps around yours and squeezes slightly. This keeps you quiet, as if only now grasping the serious mood of the interaction. “Go on,” Yoonoh repeats, moving you towards the door that will lead you back inside. When he lets go, you look over your shoulder again, confused.
“Okay? You guys are good, right?” you ask, looking over at Chanyeol now with a more skeptical frown. For once, Chanyeol wishes you’d just say what you’re so clearly wanting to, since then he could explain himself. But you don’t, and so the eyes he gets are those of distrust. You’re smart for catching on to the hostility in your dazed state. Chanyeol just looks away from you, not wanting to feel the judgement from your eyes boring into his skull. Of course you’d side with your friends.
“We’re fine,” he mumbles, shooting the blond the same thunder, without outright saying it. His fists tighten, if just slightly.
You pause for just a second again, before wrapping your slim fingers around the handle of the door. “Well, bye then, Chanyeol. Thank you for taking care of me. I know you won’t admit it, but I appreciate it anyway.” He glances over for a second, simply catching your eyes, where you smile softly. It’s that innocence in your face, the one that shimmers under your skin and plays in your eyes, that makes his own harden, frown settling deep between his brows. You swallow. “Okay, I’m going,” you just mumble, pulling open the door towards the still loud party, and disappearing into the bright colors.
As soon as the door falls closed with a loud slam, Yoonoh takes a step forward and pulls his hands from his pockets to crack his knuckles. He lifts his nose in something resembling disgust. “I don’t know what the fuck you think you’re doing, but I’ll kindly give you some advice anyway.” He pokes his two fingers into the other’s chest then, glaring at him. “Stay the fuck away from her,” he says, voice gravelly, like he hasn’t drank water in the last two days. Chanyeol chuckles dryly, and turns his head to look to the door.
He tosses his smoke down and puts it out under his foot, pushing the other back by his chest. Last time he might have gotten punched in the face, but he’s not nearly as drunk as he was then, and this time it’s one on one. Some part of him wants to see how he’d fare this time. But as he thinks that, your concerned look flashes through his mind again. If they’d get into it now, you’d know it was him. Instead he just blows a tense breath out through his nose, and glares back. “Stay the fuck away from our business then,” Chanyeol says, voice so low it sounds like a growl. “You talk all big and proud, but you can’t even run your own shit properly. I’ve already told you, stay out of our city.”
The other just shakes his head, jaw clenching. “Hmh, we’ve only just got here. We can’t leave this soon already.” A little smirk makes it’s way to his lips, mirroring a hyena, in Chanyeol’s opinion. When Yoonoh speaks again, he lifts his eyebrow, tempting him to do something. “Some really nice cars you have in there. Would be a shame if someone snatched them from you, right?”
With that, Chanyeol has to straighten out, smiling. Because he’d rather punch a guy into bloody pieces than let anyone mess with the place, the only thing he’s ever truly had to his name. He’s worked too hard for it. It would be so easy to break his nose right now, Chanyeol knows this, and he really feels like it too. Just a clean fist to the face, and the other would drop like a fly. But for some reason, Chanyeol thinks that would be too easy. “Hey, Yoonoh?” he calls, looking to the floor with a grin of his own. Your smile comes to mind as he speaks, his teeth crunching with the pressure he puts on them. “Really nice girl, isn’t she? So innocent. I wonder how she’d look coming around my cock.”
The grin drops from Yoonoh’s face instantly, replaced by a murderous glint and a scowl dark enough to scare children. He grabs Chanyeol’s collar with one hand, getting right up into his space. “If you so much as look at her again, I’ll make sure to break every bone in your face until you can’t go out into the street without scaring people.” He doesn’t notice the door knob moving behind him, as he spits the words.
Chanyeol smiles. “That’s not a threat, since I already do.”
Your eyes are wide when you take in the scene in front of you, taking a deep breath. “Guys?” Your voice is stronger now, but the concern there is tangible. “I forgot my bag so I…” you mumble, taking a few steps closer. You don’t finish your sentence, and so Yoonoh lets go of the other, while you frown up at both of them. It stays quiet for a long while, before Chanyeol smiles and leans down.
He picks up the small bag and hands it to you, mischievous grin only widening as you blink up at him. “Here you go, sugar.” You mouth a soundless ‘thank you’, before the white haired man looks away. He slaps the shoulder of the man across him, and lifts his brow victoriously. This might be easier than he first thought. “Good night, Yoonoh. Drive safe.”
Tumblr media
Your door opens suddenly, surprising you enough to make you jump. You straighten up in bed, wobbling a little in the plush. Yuna sends you a soft smile when she walks through the door, a plate in her one hand and a glass of water in the other. “I made you some food,” she eagerly hands it to you with a nod, before plopping down on the bed next to you. You put the food on the bedside table for a moment, as you look back at her. It’s not like Yuna to suddenly pop in like this, and while you don’t mind, it is slightly strange. Your big sister just links her hands together in front of her. “I wasn’t sure if you’d already eaten or not, so I whipped something up. I’m never sure if they’re feeding you enough there.”
A small smile comes to your lips at her thoughtfulness, but your frown remains. It results in an unsure expression, which makes your sister quiet down. “Okay? Thank you, I appreciate it a lot, Yun,” you say, genuinely. “But they do feed me, and you know they do. What’s up, is everything okay?” At your direct approach, your sister lets out a small sigh, and pushes her lips together.
“Fine, I’ll just say it,” she swallows. “I’m a little worried about you. You’re an adult, and you can make your own decisions. And I know that this is partly my fault, because I introduced them to you, but… I don’t know those guys that well, either, and I thought it would be good for you to have some friends here, because you might get homesick and—” You stop her rambling by grabbing her shoulder, and bending down a little to get into her line of sight.
“Hey, hey, slow down. I didn’t get half of that,” you giggle, squeezing her shoulder slightly, hopefully comforting her a little. It feels foreign, because if anyone has ever needed comfort, it was you. Your big sister was always the strong one, the one who’d hold you until your tears stopped, no matter how long it took. Seeing her like this, now, is slightly awkward for you, since you’ve never been in this spot before. You do your best though, and take her hand. “What are you talking about, Yun?”
“Your new friends, Dew,” she sighs, looking up at you with big, sad eyes. “You’re not like this, normally. You don’t smoke, or go out every single night. You don’t do that. And I know that you’re old enough to make these kind of decisions on your own, but I feel like you’re being influenced by these new friends you’ve made a little too much.” Her eyes shift to the floor then, mouth pulling tight. “If that’s not it, then— is it something with mom and dad? I know the last few years and the divorce were really hard on you, and I know that you were there through all of it, and that you felt really alone. But if there’s anything you need to get off your chest, I’m here for you. That’s what sisters do, right?”
When her eyes find yours again, you have to look away. “I’m fine, Yuna, really. Of course, everything that happened was hard. And I hated it, and if I can avoid that part of my life all together, I will. But my friends— your friends—,” you point out, aware that these people are acquaintances of you both mutually, “they’re not bad people. I know them, I’ve hung out with them just about every day for months now. I’m good, and they are kind to me. I’m happy right now, no? Isn’t that what matters most?”
“And what about Baron?” your sister continues, picking at her sleeves mindlessly. “He comes pick you up all the time, he drives you home. You spend the night at his house, without telling me anything. I worry, Dew! Even if you’re in good company, and even if I trust and know Baron, you should tell me some of these things.” He scolding tone flows out with a deep breath, before her eyes soften again. “Are you two dating each other? That’s it, right?”
“No,” you immediately reply, aware of how dumb that sounds. You and Baron spend so much time together, it’d only be logical if people assumed that kind of thing. But the idea of admitting that sends your heartbeat spiking, and not in a good way. “We’re just friends… that hang out a little more than we should,” you end, not willing to talk about it more. Whatever you have with the redhead is comfortable, and you want to keep it that way. Putting a label on it somehow would make everything so much more complicated.
But as you regard your sister, you remember when she lived in your old house still. She used to have a boyfriend at some point, one that she loved. And then slowly but surely, they grew apart. Or at least, that’s what you used to think up until a little while ago. More and more, you’re wondering if your big sister was just as affected by the endless fights your parents used to have. If she just smiled through it, like you did for longer than you can remember. Maybe she was so good at pretending, that even you didn’t notice.
“Baron is…” you catch her big eyes with a tiny smile, and drop your fists in your lap, rag doll-esk, “he’s really funny, and smart, and sweet.” Your words fill the tense void, softening it into a warmth. Yuna’s lips curl up at the edges at your words, so you quickly continue. “He makes me feel like a more exciting version of myself. And that’s good enough, to me. I don’t need to name it,” you explain more genuinely now, “I don’t want to name it. And I know it doesn’t make sense, but-”
“It’s okay,” Yuna nods, grabbing your hands in her warm ones, “I do get it. Even if I hope that you’ll get over that feeling sooner than later.” She takes a deep breath, before pushing herself off the bed, and crosses her arms over her chest. “I’m glad you told me.” She walks to the door then, stopping once to turn back at you. “And if he hurts you, I’ll punch him.”
You giggle, and wave her out of the door with a wide smile and a slight flush. Your voice drops to a whisper, words swallowed by the walls of your empty room. “I think it’ll be the other way around.”
Tumblr media
The air is chilly tonight, but in the sizzling glow of today, it’s a welcome breath of air. Moments in your life are blurring close together, shifting almost without question into an amorphous blob without lines to define it. Part of you wishes every party, every night spent running through the adrenaline of a burning fire would paint you a picture. Part of you knows that wouldn’t help you, anyway. In this mess of different colored paints, you sit and wallow, letting the colors stain your skin.
The windows open into a balcony, exposing the soft light of the city below your feet. It stretches out further than you can see, salient against the dark, ocean sky. Your colors fade the longer you stare at your fingers, wondering how you got here. More and more, this is the question that takes up the majority of your conscious. Smelling like gasoline, burning on the last of your reserves like it’s the match that brings you warmth, and not the fire itself. Your tongue sugared alcohol, your fingers dusted with soot. Ever since the talk with your sister, you’ve really noticed it, the effort you have to put in to keep yourself going. Somewhere along the way, you must have taken a wrong turn.
But as you search for reasons, there’s none that stand out. Maybe this chill is just the feeling of change. Maybe, maybe, maybe. A lot of maybe’s. You close your eyes for a long second, willing yourself to come back to earth. The alcohol of an hour ago is still somewhat strong in your system, blurring the edges between vein and skin. You brush your hair over your shoulder, and drop the straps of your bra to the side, alleviating some of the pull between your shoulder blades. A lone car lights up the street before you, flicking patterns of white to reflect from the windows. Despite all of this though, you feel lonely. You feel small, this night, more than any other.
When you let out a tense breath, two strong arms wrap around your waist, a shoulder pushing against your lower back in the unusual hug. The hands are big, covering your exposed skin with a warmth that’s grown comfortable. Like he knew what you were feeling perfectly, or perhaps he feels the same way. There’s no way of you knowing, without asking, and you’re not willing to break the silence. You just put your own hand over the bigger, to keep it from leaving.
And then, without a reason, lips brushing with soft caresses against your spine. You look over your shoulder with fluttering lashes at the tenderness, watching as Baron presses kisses over the expanse of your skin, unprovoked by your gaze on him. Baron often has his own personal missions, most of them starting or ending with you wrapped up in his arms. Tonight, he seems in a giving mood, which brings a small smile to your lips.
The lips move from your lower back up and up as you sit in silence, feeling them play up your back with purpose. When he finally gets to the top of your neck, he takes a tighter hold on you, pulling your body back against his chest and his chin on your shoulder. His soft lips press against your jaw, before he lets out a little breath of his own, warm and safe more than you feel. “I can hear your mind crunch from across the bed, angel,” he whispers, body solidly swelling against your back with every breath. It’s comforting beyond belief, knowing someone is there to stop your thoughts. At some point, you’ve started to recognize the man as your best friend, though there’s no spot that you can point to, exactly.
“I’m sorry,” you smile, not missing the tickling that results from his bed head brushing against your cheek. Without hesitating, Baron pulls you back more and lays you down on the blankets with a fragility, so he can look at you. The pillows melt to your form, dousing you in soft darkness.
“For what? Having thoughts?” At your chuckle, he covers your body with his own, keeping just enough space to allow you a comfortable breathing pattern. “I’m glad your brain still does what it’s supposed to do, actually.” His smile is gentle as ever, when he leans down. His face comes to rest next to yours now, the warmth of his body seeping into yours. “You’re going to get sick like that, you know. I’ve never known someone who genuinely enjoys sleeping with the window open when it’s cold.”
“I like it,” you admit, softly, while your eyes glide closed with the pull of the earth, “allowing the night in reminds me how small I am, and how insignificant my problems really are.” A small chuckle leaves his chest, which you can’t help but reincorporate. “Don’t laugh, I’m serious.”
Baron hums, and presses a kiss to the corner of your lips, holding you close. “I’m sure you are. I just can’t imagine what problems are keeping you up, at four in the morning. But whatever it is, I’ll kiss you as long as it takes to make them go away.” He smiles at your hooded glare, cheeks pulling up brightly. “I’ll even give you a foot massage, if that will help you fall asleep. You should just sleep the bad thoughts away.”
His forgiving words, though honest and true, make you pause. The ceiling closing in slowly but surely, inching along the walls. Bad thoughts, in this case, are true thoughts. You think it would be easy to just close your eyes and forget all about them in the morning, but clearly thinking that isn’t enough. Thoughts this late are sticky, like a gum underneath your shoe. One of those bad thoughts being Chanyeol. You’ve seen Chanyeol only once since the party, it being a common crossing of the street while you were working and even though he gave you a little smile, something felt off.
The dark circles around his eyes match yours nowadays, something you would have thought impossible just a few months ago. You wonder if he notices, if he cares. You wonder if he can see the way you’re stuck to your knees in quicksand. Then again, maybe he doesn’t care. Maybe he doesn’t notice because Chanyeol never makes you feel like you are changing yourself by being around him. In fact, being around him only amps up your own personality, never detracting from it.
And so, why the hell does it feel so off, when you’re near him?
“Hey,” a soft voice breaks your thoughts again, brushing a few hairs away from your eyes. “I’m serious, Y/N.” When you catch his eyes you know he is, face filled with a sincerity you can’t even manage for your own thoughts. You open your mouth to respond but fall short, instead keeping quiet and looking away, over at the slow waving of the curtains. But he doesn’t let you, grabbing your chin between two fingers and turning you to face him. His free hand grabs your own and squeezes softly. “Dew, listen to me, please.”
“I am,” you sigh, catching his eyes again. Something about this feels so much more intimate than everything you were doing half an hour ago.
“I get that it’s hard for you to open up to people past a superficial level. I will respect that,” he nods, his breathing the only other sound in the room. “But as much as I like you as a person, I’m your friend above all else, right? Seeing you upset, even when you don’t want to admit it, makes me worry.” He brushes his red hair out of his face, sitting up on the blankets to stare you down. He doesn’t let go of the tight hold he has of your fingers, seemingly forgotten. “If you have something to say, anything… You can. Even if it makes no sense, you can tell me and I’ll listen. That’s what friends are for.”
Thank you, you think, though your lips can’t move to say it aloud. Instead you pull him back to you by taking his other hand, being rounded in a hug tender as a flower. You feel silly, in a way, but not because of him. No, you feel stupid for being so weak, for the safety you only get from pushing people away. For as much as you are forgiving of others maybe, you are hard on yourself. “Just hold me close,” you eventually nod, words floating between your bodies like coming morning. And he does, and nothing else. You two sit for what could be an hour or just a second, your eyes closed and face hidden in the crook of his neck, with breathing that falls in line.
When you finally pull back, Baron smiles widely. And though you might not be in love with him, you really, really love him as a person. He runs his fingers through his cherry hair and sighs deeply, before scooting off the bed. “Okay, then.” You just send him a questioning glance, watching as he walks to the corner of the room and picks up his jacket, tugging it on easily. “If you won’t sleep, we’re going on a ride.”
Tumblr media
Chanyeol swallows when he moves to stand under the water, feeling the warmth of it run over his head and between his shoulders, loosening the slight ache that sits there from time to time. The apartment is quiet, and so his thoughts are loud, terribly so. He feels shaky, feverish almost, both because of how drunk he is and how much drunker he could still get, if he wanted to. The tense silence of the bathroom is thick, forcing his lungs apart in a mechanical way, in, out, in, out.
He closes his eyes against the bright lights, and stands there for seconds, the water hitting him. The gentle attack serves as the only line back to earth, he thinks, drifting into thought without anything to stop him. The first face he sees is male, a familiar face that he looks much alike. Everyone has always said that he takes after his dad, though Chanyeol through time has decided that he takes more after his mom. He sees that face again now, beaten and bruised and if he didn’t know any better, he’d feel sorry. But he doesn’t, since his old man had it coming.
He rubs his eyes a few times, scrubbing the image away with violent movements, before opening them all together. It’s been years. It’s been years and still the image remains ingrained in his memories. He runs his hands through his hair now, quickly getting the shampoo in hand. He shouldn’t have showered alone. Not this late, not when he’s this lost and not when he feels so out of it that everything makes him question.
The next face that greets him is a softer one, smiling like there’s nothing wrong in the world and Chanyeol knows that to her, there probably isn’t. Dara was, and forever will be, fleeting, after all. It’s this reason that made her so exciting, the knowledge that she chose who she’d love next and for how long she would, even if it meant breaking every heart around her if it wasn’t hers. He should have known from the very beginning that she would have shattered him, but he was too young and too in love to process things properly and now, he’s still suffering the consequences.
He’s still running away before anyone can get close enough to hurt him. And in some ways, he thinks of himself as a coward. But in the larger scheme of things, it won’t be his love life that will kill him. Of this much, the universe seems sure. Nothing about Dara was easy, and this will very likely forever be her legacy. The girl who almost killed Park Chanyeol. The girl who crushed Park Chanyeol under her stiletto heels with a smile on her lips. The only person who ever beat Park Chanyeol to pieces, and got away with it.
Truth is, every once in a while, she still shows herself. When he’s not expecting it, and a woman rounds the street from the corner of his eye, his first instinct is always to recognize Dara in her. When he finds old pictures of himself, a distant memory with her red stained lips marking his neck. Every once in a while, he still thinks of her, and realizes what a horrible person she really could be. Her slaps whenever she was displeased with herself were often the harshest, and the words she’d hiss to get under his skin would linger long after she’d run off. And still, young him somehow forgave it all, in the name of love.
When the shower suddenly gets colder, he rubs the water out of his eyes and yanks up the heat even more, trying to focus on the goal at hand. But it’s late. His thoughts are muddled. The next face that appears in front of his eyes is yours, though faded in the sharp light, evergreen. He doesn’t know why you’re here, messing with his thoughts like they are yours to play with, and yet, it’s comforting. For as much as he shouldn’t be thinking of you in the same sentence that he regards the horrible in his past, your non-presence brings him a warmth, fluttering around him like a firefly.
Something about you, lately more than ever, has stood out. When he first saw you, all those months ago, you might have been his opposite. Then, you were his neighbor for a while, standing across him like a reminder of what he could be. But now, you’re becoming a copy of him, and he can’t help but hate the way time is twisting you up. He hates seeing every point that will trip you up, as much as it did him.
And maybe it’s not his place to say — no, it definitely isn’t— but he wants to turn you around before it’s too late. Wants to keep you from falling into the same track he did. Because he might still have turned out fine, somewhat at least, but you… Innocent, kind, genuine you— won’t end up that way. A strange cold travels over his exposed skin, making goosebumps appear all over his tattooed arms. His stomach drops for no reason, and he suddenly feels horrible about what he told Yoonoh. Because for all the money in the world, he wouldn’t touch a hair on your head without your will and this truly is a revelation to him.
Because somewhere along the way, you must have slipped between his barriers. Without warning and without trying, you slipped through them like they were yours to pass all along. And, Chanyeol realizes, he cares.

The engine of the car roars loudly in the cold, rumbling eagerly with the knowing that a drive is coming. You tug open the heavy car door and hop inside, grinning ear to ear as Baron presses the gas, not even leaving you enough time to get strapped in. The dark blue race car shoots away from the hotel with a speed that sends your nerves into a next gear, feeling the pressure onto your lungs. You squeak. Even in the tight streets, Baron drives stupidly fast. It leaves you somewhat shell-shocked, and hanging onto your seat.
“Where are we going?” you yell over the noise of the car, quickly strapping in. Right as you do, the car skits around the corner, into oncoming traffic. It corrects just in time to avoid a late night straggler, while you close your eyes tightly. The car zooms past you two with minimal space, as you open your mouth wide to pull in a breath. “Baron!”
“Wherever,” he just responds, sounding calm as ever. Now, you’ve driven with him before, but never like this. Part of your swears he’s as good as a professional F1 racer, but part of you knows he’s way too reckless right now, to be of that level. When he gets out of the tight winding city streets, you relax just a little, glancing at the dashboard. 124 mph, great. When he moves his one hand from the clutch to grab onto your cramped hand with a bright laugh, you just shake your head.
“This is insane, why are you driving so fast? And how the hell am I not dead yet?” Baron laughs again, pushing on the breaks a little just for you.
He glances over at you for just a second. “Remember that I wanted to take you for a ride, but Yoonoh told me not to?” You vaguely nod your head yes, still too nervous to lower your shoulders into a comfortable position, and hold on tighter to his fingers. Some city sign passes you by, too fast and dark to make it out. “Yeah, I- uhm… I race,” he admits.
“You race? What does that mean?”
“I do street races, and often. I was going to tell you, but I was a little embarrassed and I didn’t know how to explain it.” The highway spreads out for long ways straight ahead, allowing him to take his eyes off the road and over to you. “I normally don’t drive this fast, definitely not with other people in my car, but yeah…”
“But you thought ‘what better way to show her what a good driver I am by scaring her into the next dimension?’” you call, laughing slightly at his embarrassed smile.
“Sorry,” he says, steering the car towards the exit, taking you towards the sea smoothly. “Honestly, a lot of stuff goes on that you don’t know about, shortie. This city is just short of a car racing mecca.” He says it so casually, leaving you staring blankly toward the road that speeds past the tires.
“What?”
“Yeah,” he admits, giggling slightly, “even the police is in on it. Your friends, the Exo guys?” They are not really my friends, you think, being reminded of Chanyeol once more. “They are running a whole underground car racing scheme, with betting and all. I heard that their garage is more so a cover up than anything else. But who knows, rumors spread so fast in places like these.” The rumbling of the car suddenly sounds far away. So Byun, Chanyeol, Kai… all of those guys are running an illegal car betting ring? It sounds like something out of a movie.
“What about Chanyeol?” you ask, concerns crawling up your throat. The name doesn’t seem to ring a bell. “Tall guy, white hair, a shit ton of tattoos?” Though Baron doesn’t immediately respond, you can see the recognition coming over his face, though he tries his very best to hide it. Before he can even deny, you grab his shoulder. “You do know him! What, what do you know about him?”
“I really don’t know, Dew,” he tries again, but you don’t buy it.
Your eyes must shoot fire as you speak, because he immediately seems to shrink back a little. “Tell me. It’s bad enough that you haven’t told me earlier, don’t you dare lie to me now.” Baron swallows, and removes his hand from yours to shift gears, and to smooth out the slight frown forming between his brows. The entire city feels completely empty, when his eyes find yours in worry.
“He was the one who beat up Yoonoh,” he sighs, looking back at the road, “and I— I heard that he… killed a man.”

**
The smell had not changed in all the years that you used to call this place home. Pinecone potpourri mixed with traditional cooking spices and a hint of citrus from the constant dusting. Your aunt had always been a bit eccentric, a bit off beat. It had made being raised by her both adventurous and anxiety-inducing.
In the privacy of your home, her random dance parties and unfiltered way of speaking made you laugh. But when you were in public and she was pretending to be a mannequin in a window display, you ran away to the food court to hide behind a cup of boba. The explanation was always the same no matter what antics she was pulling: she wanted to break you out of your shell. It seemed like a lost cause. You were comfortable in your shell. It protected you and kept you warm.
“I don’t see how you expect to go trialing off to a place you’ve never been before,” your aunt had complained when you first told her about applying to the far away college.
“They’re two entirely different situations,” you had argued. “I can go to class and go back home without any issues.” These days there was your phone if you ever got lost or in need of food but didn’t want to leave the comfort of your apartment. Modern conveniences only enabled your shut-in ways.
“But what about, you know, friends?” She looked at you over her stylish, cat-eye glasses that she had no use for with her perfect vision.
“I have those,” you insisted. So, you might not have had a best friend, but you had people that you occasionally hung out with and collaborated on. Then there was Victoria and Amber from high school. You still spoke to them regularly, despite them going to different colleges out of the area. Your aunt didn’t realize that not everyone needed multiple circles of friends to bounce between.
Pushing her glasses back up her nose, your aunt pouted. “I just worry about you, that’s all. You still don’t like getting into cars, especially by yourself, and if you happen to be studying late….”
“I don’t mind taking the bus.” A bit of a stretch. You did mind but would still take it if the situation were dire enough. Walking was good exercise. And better for the environment. Someone had to look out for the little bunnies.
“Alright,” your aunt huffed as she sipped on her now lukewarm tea. “It is your life. I’m just a spectator of it.”
“At least you have premium seating,” you teased.
That had made your aunt laugh. She was back to her more carefree self.
“Is that my favorite niece?”
“No, it’s your least favorite nephew.”
Your aunt poked her head out of the hallway, the edge of her pink fuzzy robe telling you that she was getting ready to go out.
That was the exchange the two of you always had when you came to visit. The first time around, you had rolled your eyes and given the sarcastic answer for the cliché greeting. As your mother and aunt were the only siblings in their family and your father was the single offspring from his parents, there were no other nieces or nephews to put above or below you.
Without prompt, your aunt passed through the living room and onto the kitchen. When she came back, she had two wine glasses filled with bubble pink liquid. After handing you the lesser filled glass, she sat down on the couch while you opted for the loveseat, letting your purse drop to the hardwood floor by your feet. Your aunt leaned back on the arm rest with one elbow as she sipped on the wine. “It’s watermelon,” she informed you when you hadn’t taken a drink. “Try it.”
Shaking your head, you did as she asked. Oh, no. It was delicious. That was dangerous. You took another, larger swig before putting the glass down on the coffee table.
Growing up, you’d felt bad for your aunt. Sometimes you still did, though not as much after her many lectures as to why you shouldn’t.
She’d always been the carefree one. As a marketing consultant, she was constantly flying all over the globe, having adventures in between work meetings and bringing those experiences back to you in the form of expensive souvenirs. When your parents volunteered to go help a poorer nation with their health crisis, your aunt was quick to lend her babysitting services. It was only supposed to be temporary, after all. Then tragedy struck
Your parents never came back and suddenly your aunt was now your permanent guardian. The carefree spirit took it in stride. She shifted her strategy to more web-based conferences until you were in high school and able to be on your own for longer periods of time. She never turned into your mother; she never wanted to. For that, you were even more thankful. She was still the spontaneous, forever young aunt that you had always known. That stability in her personality was exactly what you needed. Too much had changed in your world on a dime, the less that was altered the better.
“What prompted this little visit?” she asked, a curious half smile on her lips.
You shrugged. “I hadn’t seen you in a while, so I thought I’d stop by and say hi. It looks like you’re getting ready to go out, though.”
Your aunt waved her hand limply. “Not for a few hours. Besides, anything can wait for you.”
Shifting in your seat, you smiled at the affection she had for you. “I finally heard from the university,” you told her.
Her eyebrows shot up. “You did? They finally decided to stop dangling the carrot and just give it to you, did they?”
“Not exactly,” you cringed. “They said they wanted to see how this semester went and then they would let me know.”
Your aunts face fell into a scowl as if something awful smelling had made its way into her nose. “What sense does that make?”
You shrugged. “I don’t know. But at least it’s not an outright no.”
Clicking her tongue, your aunt leaned forward so she was now balancing her elbows on her knees. “You know, there are still other options. Closer options.”
“I know,” you said with a monotone voice. “But Plan A is my focus. I’ll look to other options if that falls through.”
That knowing look you were all too familiar with formed on her face. A long, reminiscing sigh blew out from her lungs. “You are so much like your mother. It’s scary sometimes.”
You never knew how to respond when she said things like that. Should you be happy at the comparison? Sad because your mother wasn’t here to tell you herself? You were a child when your parents passed away. You remembered vague moments, birthday parties and movie nights. But when you’re that young, you don’t get a good idea of your parents’ personalities. You don’t learn what they like or don’t like, how they act in crowds versus a small group of people. You have to rely on the memories of those left behind.
You stayed at your aunt’s house for another hour or so, talking to her about her latest clients and nights out with the girls. You told her how your days were going and how you were adjusting to the new routine with the combined class. The news of Yixing sat on the tip of your tongue, but you couldn’t bring yourself to mention him. Her reaction would have been too predictable.  She’d ask when the two of you were going to go out and when you explained that it wasn’t like that, she would ask why not. For that, you didn’t have an answer.
While you wanted to say that the two of you were just friends, it didn’t feel like the truth.
You saw more of Yixing than of anyone else, including Ran. He would walk you to class multiple times a day and the two of you would talk. Not about anything too deep. You weren’t at that level yet. He was funny and charming, never speaking a word that wasn’t kind. You learned that he lived in farmhouse in the woods with eight other people, all men. He swore it was never too crowded and that he actually enjoyed the company. He got lonely easily.
He also told you about how he took a few years off of college to figure out what he wanted to do. You’d asked him how he came to the path of becoming a doctor. He said he simply wanted to do something that would help people. He thought about opening a low-income clinic once he had his degree. Suddenly your heart was pumping under your sternum. When he asked why you went pre-med, you gave a shrug and said your parents and left it at that. These conversations were usually nice and lighthearted, you didn’t want to be the downer.
Yes, spending time with Yixing was nice, the highlight of your day, sometimes. But he also felt like a secret. One that you should keep to yourself for now. Good things didn’t always last. You wanted to see if this was a long-term investment for him before you invited anyone else in.
The next day, you needed some fresh air, so you decided to take a walk in the nature center on the edge of town. Although the woods would be a no-go area since they still hadn’t caught the animal terrorizing the area, the center would be full of people and should be quite safe. It couldn’t really be considered part of the woods given the infrastructure and the observation building, could it? Deciding to go anyway, you packed your bag with a few notes, snacks, and a water bottle. As your hand landed on the doorknob to leave, your eyes fell on the jacket lying on the back of the couch.
You hadn’t worn the comforting fabric since that day. The weather had been nice and putting it on would have seemed a bit obnoxious in your eyes. But this morning the weatherman had mentioned a chilly breeze. It wouldn’t hurt.
Arms through their designated holes, you left the apartment and started the walk to the outskirts of town. It wasn’t too far of a walk, maybe thirty, forty minutes at the most. You thanked yourself for wearing the jacket. A “chilly breeze” was an understatement. A few families and couples were dotted among the trails of the nature center that wound near and over the small creek. You passed by them all until you came to a spot that was deserted. Resting your legs, you sat on a bench with your back to the trees. The sun was shining up above. The only noise seemed to come from the rustling leaves and trickling creek. It was peaceful, just what you needed.
With your bag beside you, you took out a piece of paper with yesterday’s notes and started to review them. Some of the words were smudged and the edges were already crinkling, but you could make most of it out. The paper flopped in the wind. You thought you had a good enough grip on it, but a gust of air proved you wrong.
The paper went flying over your head and straight for the trees. Panic made you jump up, slinging your bag over your shoulder as you ran after it. The wind – now relentless – was enough to keep the paper continuously out of your reach.
It finally came to a stop when it caught on a tree root sticking out in the ground. You snatched the paper up and stuffed it into the bag to keep it from running away again. Straightening up again, your eyes settled on the horizon.
Then you screamed.
**
Yixing’s eyes snapped open.
He was no longer a wolf. He was human again. Sitting up, he brushed off the leaves from his arms. What time was it? Was it even the same day? He’d blacked out again. At this point, it was almost routine. His only consolation prize being the fact that he was alone. He still needed to figure out what was happening to him. He wasn’t ready to take this to his brothers. There was enough to worry about at the moment.
Getting on his feet, Yixing headed in the direction of where his things were stored. In order to avoid the others wanting to run with him, he’d entered the forest from a different area, storing his things in a bush to get back to later. He flicked his jeans to get the dirt off before pulling them on and then stuffing his feet in his shoes.
A piercing cry for cut through the air.
The hair on the back of Yixing’s neck stood up.
“Help! Somebody help!”
It was your voice.
He gasped. Then he took off. If anything happened to you-
Yixing skidded to a stop when he saw you kneeling in the grass. A body was laying in front of you, the clothes ripped and stained dark. It was lying face down, but Yixing could tell that it was a man and that he’d been attacked.
“(Y/n), what happened?”
You stared at him with wide, confused eyes. “Yixing? What are you doing here?”
He ignored your question, more worried about your own wellbeing. “What happened?” he repeated.
You shook your head as you dropped your eyes to the man lying on the ground. “I don’t know. I just found him like this. He’s still breathing but I’m not strong enough to move him.”
Yixing analyzed the situation. His car was only on the other side of the trees. The man was still alive. From Yixing’s point of view, he could make it, but they needed to act fast. Slipping his arms under the man while careful not to move him too much, he picked the man up and motioned with his head for you to follow.
He said nothing and you asked no questions as the tree line broke. Yixing scanned the parking lot of the nature center until he found his car. He rushed to the vehicle with a few glances over his shoulder to make sure you were keeping up with him.
“(y/n)?”
“Yeah?” You were huffing. Had he been running? He’d tried to go at a pace that you could keep up with.
“In my front right pocket are my keys. Can you fish them out and unlock the doors?”
You nodded. Yixing could feel your fingers trembling as they slipped into the denim opening. The shaking was even more obvious once the keys were free, the house and car keys clinking together as you searched for the fob to unlock the doors. Without prompt, you opened the back door to allow Yixing to slip the man into the bench seat. He told you to get in the front. You tossed him the keys and the two of you rushed to the hospital.
A pair of doctors rushed out of the automatic doors as soon as the car pulled into the emergency entrance.
“We found him in the woods,” Yixing explained. The doctors quickly examined the man as two more nurses came out with a stretcher.
“I think that animal attacked him,” you added.
Yixing’s eyes flickered over to you with worry. The doctors nodded in acknowledgement then helped the nurses move the man to the stretcher. The two of you followed closely but were forced to stay behind in the waiting room. Yixing sat next to you in the uncomfortable plastic chairs that were connected to the wall.
“You never answered the question.”
Yixing frowned. “What question?”
You turned to look at him with your eyebrows furrowed, making him want to reach out and smooth the creases they created. “What you were doing out in the woods.”
Yixing stiffened. He pressed his foot into the tile floor to keep it from bouncing. “I was… hiking.”
“Without a shirt?”
He looked down. Crap. He hadn’t even realized that he wasn’t finished getting dressed before he took off. “I get warm easily.”
Your eyes narrowed suspiciously. Yixing fought to keep his face neutral. It was a pathetic excuse, he knew it. But you didn’t call him out on it. Instead, you leaned forward, unzipping the polyester bomber that was easily recognizable as his own, taking it off, and holding it out to him.
“I’m fine,” Yixing said, ignoring the jacket.
“You really should put it on. I heard the front desk call the cops. They’ll be here soon, and it’ll look suspicious. What would you tell them the reason was for you not having a shirt?”
A cheeky answer came to mind. Yixing bit down to hold it back, even if it would have caused your face to heat up in an adorable fashion. The instinct of making sure his mate was okay was almost too great to ignore. You were the one who needed to stay warm, stay protected. But you had a valid point. And you were inside, out of the wind. So, he accepted the jacket and ran the zipper almost up to his neck to hide the lack of shirt underneath.
The police arrived about twenty minutes later. They separated you, making him anxious. Over the next hour or so, Yixing gave his side of the story to the officer. They took him at his word that he was strolling through the woods. The doctors had already informed the officers that the wounds were clearly animal made. While severe, they weren’t life threatening. That gave Yixing a small amount of relief.
“Would you two like to see him?” one of the nurses asked another hour later. You nodded eagerly. Yixing stayed a bit behind as the nurse led you through the halls to a large room that held several beds separated by plastic curtains.
The man was awake. Black stitches covered his arms. Three claw marks ran down the left cheek. From what Yixing knew of the other victims, this guy was lucky. He was talking to a nurse when he looked to see who his visitors were. As soon as his eyes landed on Yixing, the heart monitor spiked and his breathing quickened.
“Hey, it’s okay, these are the people who found you,” the nurse said to try and calm him down.
“Oh.” The man’s heart rate started to slow again. Each breath was deeper until they were back to normal. “I’m sorry.”
“How are you feeling?” you asked, taking a step forward. Yixing fought the urge to put himself between you and the man you’d rescued. He was probably harmless, but he had also been through a traumatic situation.
The man nodded. “I’m… alive, at least. Thank you.”
You gave a small smile. “I’m glad I came along when I did. Did you,” you bit your bottom lip nervously, “happen to see what attacked you?”
Yixing held his breath.
“It was a large gray wolf,” the man answered. “Huge. Like a mutated one you would see in the movies. He came from nowhere, knocked me down. I thought I was going to end up like the others as he clawed at me. Then he was gone.”
Yixing’s fist tightened at his side, his throat constricting. He forced down a swallow. He couldn’t panic. Not here.
You frowned. “I wonder what scared him off.”
“Maybe you did?” Yixing said with a slight tease. It was more to keep his own mental state calm than for the benefit of everyone else.
“I’m not that frightening.”
“Whatever it was,” the man shook his head, “I’m thankful.”
“He should really rest now,” the nurse said sternly. Yixing nodded in agreement and, after the goodbyes were given, led you away.
Once outside of the hospital, Yixing stopped you. “I can take you home.”
“That’s okay,” you countered, “I can walk.”
He didn’t like that one bit. Besides, he really needed you by his side right now. “Where do you live?”
“In an apartment near campus.”
No way. “That’s nearly halfway across the city. I can take you. It’s not a big deal.”
You shifted form foot to foot, refusing to meet his eye. “I don’t… really like cars.”
“You made it here alright.”
“That’s because I was too worried about him to think about it. The adrenaline blocked everything out.”
“I’m a safe driver, I promise.”
“I believe you. I just-” You blew air out between your lips, which ended in a growl. It was actually kind of cute. Yixing pushed back a grin. It wasn’t appropriate right now. “My parents were killed in a car crash, so they kind of freak me out.” You sucked in your lips as if you hadn’t meant to reveal that vital information.
Oh. That explained… a lot actually. At least, in terms of what you had been holding back from him. He never wanted to push, but he felt better knowing more about you.
“I understand,” he said sympathetically. “Can I walk you home then? I can come back for my car later.”
You shook your head. “That’s ridiculous.”
“Maybe so. But I need to make sure that you get home safe.”
You weighed his alternative for a minute or so. Yixing kept his patience. He refused to push you farther than you were willing to go. He just needed to see you walk safely into your building and then he would be okay until he saw you again.
“Okay,” you sighed. “You can drive me home.” He could have leapt with joy.
Yixing waited for you to get in the car before sliding behind the wheel himself. The death grip you had on the side handle didn’t escape his notice. He made sure to slow down easily and to take each turn with care. The only words you spoke were to give him directions. It wasn’t until the car was in park outside of your building did you finally relax.
“Thank you,” you told him in a strained voice.
“Any time.”
“I’m sorry if I was a little dramatic. I—” the growl of your empty stomach interrupted your speech. You groaned from embarrassment. Yixing couldn’t help his laugh.
Knock, knock, knock.
Leaning over and looking through the passenger window of his car was a strange girl Yixing had never seen before. He rolled down the window barely enough to be able hear what she was saying.
“How the hell did you get (y/n) into a car?” the girl gasped. You visibly cringed in the seat, sinking down a few inches.
Yixing blinked, unsure of how to respond. “Um, I—”
“Yixing, this is my roommate, Ran,” you interrupted, saving him. “Ran, this is Yixing. We have class together.”
“Oh!” The inclination behind her exclamation was more than obvious. And Yixing didn’t object to it. “I just ordered pizza and I know (y/n) usually gets hungry around this time. Do you want to join us?”
You flashed your roommate a panicked look, but Yixing couldn’t resist the opportunity. “That sounds great.” He caught you flinching, so he added, “As long as (y/n)’s okay with it.”
“Yeah,” you relented. “It’s the least I could do. For the ride.” You flashed an annoyed glare at Ran before getting out of the vehicle.
Yixing shouldn’t be this elated as he nearly sprung from the driver’s seat. He walked around the car slowly and let you and Ran lead the way, in case you changed your mind. You didn’t, thankfully, and Yixing walked up to your door with anticipation so great that he almost was able to forget what the man had said back at the hospital.
Almost.

Jamie- I used to like her, and I thought she was funny, but as time has gone on, she seems to have changed. She seems more rude and fake now. She acts like shes kinda over everything. Seungri- I really liked him before, but he can burn for all I care now. Soyeon- Yeah, I think she's racist. She just doesn't even hesitate to appropriate any culture she thinks will make their comeback 'cooler'. Plus she gives herseld almost all of the lines and thats just selfish.
i never liked her, i really don’t like her sense of humor and it always came off as belittling. as anyone knows i’m a huge stan of day6 and so i take all the members very seriously and owe them so much and the way she fucking talks to jae just does not sit right with me... i can’t... it just makes me so infinitely angry. the way she talks to him is like she thinks she is better or like her presence is a gift to him and listen... i’m not saying she doesn’t have a nice voice, but i am saying she can tone it down a bit cause it’s not cute the way she talks to people, not just jae.
i used to like seungri too. lots of people during the whole ordeal were like “oh i never liked him” or “he always gave me gross vibes” and i was like ??? where the fuck have i been then, because i genuniely did enjoy him and i’ll still admit that a lot of his music was great. but i do not promote, condone, or stand beside predators of any kind and as someone who has been a victim of sexual assault multiple times, i will NEVER not talk shit about this disgusting man.
i was going to put soyeon on the list because fuck her fr... that “ethnic hip” bullshit pissed me off, not to mention, and maybe this is just me, she seems very cocky and she has no right to be. but then i didn’t put her because who am i to talk shit about cultural appropriation when i really do stan exo like kai hasn’t had dreads in like 4 different comebacks and like they haven’t done blackface multiple times. so i just didn’t say shit.

Your POV
My head hurts so much that I feel as if I've just been hit by a carriage. The sounds of arguing around me do not help the situation at all.  So I try to not focus on the pain or the voices around me that won't subside and remember what happened. Images of Mira surface in my mind. Her corpse on the floor and the death rune carved into her back. My best friend and most trusted subject was killed because of me. I can't help but wince at the realization that I will never be rid of the death and chaos that I bring everywhere with me.
Fluttering my eyes open, my eyes wander looking for the source of those voices. As I begin to stand up from the very comfortable bed, I scan the room trying to find any trace of the people who were in here earlier. My eyes land on a pile of shirts neatly placed on the table. Walking towards them I come to notice that Im not in my dress anymore, but in what's seems to be a mans shirt. “Nice pair of legs you got there (y/n), wanna trade with me for a while?” At the sound of Ivars voice, I shriek and turn around whilst trying to pull down the shirt that is covering my body. “Ivar what the hell!” At the sound of my screaming Ivar just walks closer to me with a smirk gracing his perfect face. “W..what are you doing?!?!” His hands grasp onto mine and all I can do at that moment is stare back at him with my eyes and mouth open wide in shock. “You're gonna ruin my shirt if you continue to pull it down. Plus, you don't want me to see your breasts now do you?” At that, all the blood from my body rushes to my face. Turning me as red as an apple.
Ivar grabs my face in his hands and his eyes scan over it. “I know we’ve just met. And its probably really wrong for me to feel what I‘m feeling, considering you're my sister. But, when you were unconscious it was probably the hardest thing I have gone through so far in my life. Not knowing if you would wake up was a nightmare that I could not wake up from.” Ivar says with an exasperated sigh. “Ivar....” I begin to say, but am soon interrupted by his lips placed on mine. I know I shouldn't reciprocate his feelings towards me or his kiss for that matter. But, the fact of the matter is that even in this short amount of time, this man has made feel things that I have not felt in my whole life. This man however is my brother and that is something that will not change. Soon the warmth of his soft and plump lips leave mine. Before I can say something about how inappropriate that was, Ivar is already walking towards the door. You know for a cripple he’s fairly fast.
“You know (y/n) I’m so excited for what's in store in our future.” He says as he reaches the door. Rearing his head to where I still stand in utter shock of what just transpired seconds ago. “Especially, since we now share a room.” At that Ivar winks at me and leaves the room, with that smirk on his face. Once the door is closed my legs give out from underneath me. “Lord what have I just gotten myself into. It is wrong for me to have these sort of thoughts and feelings for my brother. Please give me the strength necessary in order to get through this.” As I look up and close my eyes I can only beg that he hears my prayer and somehow gives me the power to get through this. But knowing the almighty, something will happen.
------------------------------------------
As the weeks went on by, we had buried Mira the Christian way. Although nearly no one shared my beliefs, it felt nice to be able to have Mira been given the respect she deserved. People had brought flowers and different types of gifts to me in order show me their condolences. On the outside I had to be strong and show them that whoever did this had not gotten to me. However, my family knew all too well the toll it took on me. Especially Ivar, who would hold me at night and whisper sweet nothings into my ear when I had the recurring nightmare of that night. The raid that was supposed to occur after the festival was cancelled. I had expected many people to be upset at the fact that it was. But what I saw was a community come together for someone they did not know. And that is what I missed the most about Kattegat. The people. My people.
Ragnar, Bjorn, and Ubbe had decided to lead an investigation into who had murdered Mira. So far they had gotten a couple of leads, but nothing that would certainly pinpoint who the culprit was. In his worry my father had decided to teach me how to fight, so that I would be able to defend myself if it came down to it. He knew that this was a personal attack on me. And a personal attack on a son or daughter of Ragnar Lothbrok was an attack on him too. “Come on my beautiful sister, we have some more training to do.” I can hear Hvitserk say as he comes up from behind me. “Is that really necessary Hvitty? We trained yesterday!” On the weeks that went by I could say that Hvitty and I got really close. Closer than probably me and Ivar are. After the kiss with Ivar, I had tried to put as much distance between myself and him. What we had done was wrong and a sin. And I could not allow myself to give in to such temptations.
However, that doesn't mean that Ivar still didn’t try to get closer to me. Every chance he got I var would hold my hand or hug me from behind. I knew that people where beginning to get the wrong idea, as I had caught Margrethe talking about how “close” we were for siblings. As soon as I heard that I began to make sure to only talk or look at Ivar if necessary. Waking me up from my thoughts Hvitserk takes my hand and leads me out of the hall. “Im coming. Im coming. Calm down!” I cannot help but contain my laugh at Hvitserk’s desire to want to train with me. Its probably the cutest thing I have ever seen. “You look like a child anxious to play with a brand new toy, Hvitty.” At that Hvitserk lets out a chuckle. “Only of you're the brand new toy and I get to play with you everyday.” he winks at me as he says this. “Come on you're distracting me, let’s get to work. Legs shoulder width apart and make sure you have good balance...”
-----------------------------------
Bjorn POV
Tumblr media
“We must have gotten somewhere by now! I want whoever is responsible dead!” my father screams at Ubbe and I. “Father, we've searched through and through, but there are no certain leads! Its a he said she said situation thus far!” Ubbe yells back at him. “Do not tell me what I already know, boy! I just cannot help but feel useless and like I am not able to protect my own. We all know that that was supposed to be your sister dead, not that poor girl.” at that he trails off. My father has lost way too much over the years. Many friends have come and gone. But the way we buried Mira, could only remind him of his best friend Athelstan. The Christian priest that changed his life (and mine believe it or not) for the better. He was murdered too, and that has always been a constant reminder to him of someone he could not save.
“What I think that we should be doing instead of arguing is perhaps, finding someone who is good at unmasking people. Since none of us can seem to find who it could be.” I tell them both, getting tired of their back and forth arguing. “And who would you suggest Bjorn. No one can know that (y/n) is here, besides the people of Kattegat. Our enemies will know how to get us. Hell one of them probably was behind this!” my father reciprocates. “I think we all know who I’m talking about. Im just wondering if you'll be able to reel in and control that bitch of yours, when she gets here. Since I’ve already sent word to her.” I bark back at my father. I don't know if its because im sick of him treating me as if ill never be good enough. Or because (y/n)’s life is on the line, but I had never found the courage to stand up to my father, until now. At my words my father becomes silent. It might the loads of ale Ive had today, but I swear that I can see what seems to be pride in his eyes. “How long?” “One day’s ride” It is then that my father shouts to the thralls...
“Prepare the great Hall! The Queen is coming home!”
--------------------------------
Your POV
As the hours went by and my training had somewhat gotten better, I pleaded with Hvitserk to do something else. “Okay!Okay! We’ll stop training! But what else do you want to do?” Hvitserk's says shielding his sword. “I don't know, back in Frankia Uncle Rollo used to take me to the lake and taught me how to swim. Is there a lake nearby?” At that Hvitserk looks at me like I‘ve grown horns and a huge smile breaks out. “Come on, let’s eat quickly and then I have somewhere I wanna take you!” Rushing towards me Hvitserk grabs my hand and we quickly run off towards the great hall. Once we both quickly swallow our food, we head to the stables. There we find non other than Ivar in what seems to be him being pleasured by a thrall.
“Oh, Im so sorry. We didn't mean to intrude.” I say whilst quickly turning around. “Awww you're so cute (y/n), you’ve never seen or been pleasured before?!?!? Is that why you're as red as a tomato right now?” Hvitserk chuckles at me while trying to pry my hands away from my face. “Shut upppp!! Hvitty, get the horse and lets goooo!!” I chuckle nervously at him. “Its ok (y/n), you should take notes from Margrethe here. Who knows you might have to use them some day.” Ivar manages to say through his... compromising position. “Well Ivar, (y/n) and I are gonna go on a little adventure. Don't wait up...” At that Hvitserk grabs the reins on the horse and passes them on to me. “You know how to ride (y/n)?.” “Of course, Hvitty. Its literally my favourite thing to do.” “I’m glad to hear that. Now lets go!” And with that Hvitserk and I were off to God knows where. But one thing I knew for sure was that if Hvitserk was involved, we were sure to have a good time.
Tumblr media
Bjorn POV
Soon the day had gone by and it was just a matter of time before my mother was here. You could hear a pin drop in the great hall. The anxiousness that lingered in the air was so thick that you could probably cut it with a knife. My father could not stop bouncing his leg, some thing he did when he too was nervous or didn't know the outcome of certain events. My head quickly towards the doors when I heard the neighing and hooves of the horses. At that we all stood up and thats when both Ubbe and I noticed we were missing certain people. “Ivar, where's (y/n) and Hvitserk? They're supposed to be here or did you not tell them that we would have company tonight?” I whisper at him trying to not get noticed by father or Aslaug. “Probably fucking somewhere. You know they've gotten pretty close these past few weeks I wouldn't put it past them.” At that I just look at him shocked. “Are you sure it’s just him Ivar? Don't act like I haven’t caught you staring at our sister when she's taking bath or when she's walking around the market.”  Sigurd chimes in. “Whatever we will resume this conversation after this. But send someone to get those two here. NOW!”
When I turn back I am able to see my father already walking towards the door with the family behind him. Making my way outside I catch a glimpse of my mother on horseback. The most beautiful woman to grace the earth and the most skilled in combat. She taught me everything I know and for that I could never thank her enough. Behind me came up my wife Torvi, I smile down at her and hold her hand. She knows that I will do anything for my family, especially my mother and sister. And I will protect them at any cost. As my mother gets down from her horse I immediately go towards her and give her a hug. “You know that surprise I told you about in the letter. Well, I have an even better one now.” I say whilst chuckling in her ear. “My son, how many times do I need to tell you that Im not so easily surprised.” She laughs back at me. You don’t know what's in store mother...
After much due catching up with my mother. It’s time to get down to business. Father fills mother in about the fact that there has been a murder the night go the spring festival. My mother begins to ask questions on how we've conducted the investigation, to which Ubbe fills her in. I cant seem to pry my eyes away from the doors. Hoping that my sister and brother walk into the hall safely. It’s been hours and no one has heard or seen of them. “Bjorn, are you okay? You're not really focused on the matter at hand?” Torvi says while placing her hand on my knee. “Yeah...Yeah, Im fine just a little anxious thats all.” At that she leaves it alone. It is then that we hear some jugs fall over and loads of laughter. “Hvitty get upppp. Everyone is gonna knowwww....” I can hear the slurs of my younger sister.  “Pfttt.. Like they careeee, were just having some funnnn....” Great these two are drunk of their asses and dropping shit everywhere. It is then that they both enter the hall. (Y/n) is carrying Hvitserk, in what seems to be a futile attempt to act normal. But when her eyes land on the blonde graying hair of our mother she drops Hvitserk and immediately you can see that she sobers up.
“Mama...”
At that my mother stops talking. And her eyes begin to well up with tears. “No. it cannot be. It’s the gods playing tricks on me.” My mother says whilst looking down, refusing to turn around. My father gets up from his chair and kneels beside my mother. “It is true. She is here, come with me. I promise you she will not be taken from you again.” My father’s voice cracks at the end. As I truant where my sister stands I can see the pan and suffering coursing through her body. Her eyes show a small child that was ripped from her safe place and placed in an evil and hungry world, that only wanted to make her suffer. As my mother and father stand up I catch a glimpse of Aslaug and her stone cold face. That is filled with rage and what seems to be a predatory glare towards my sister. Trying to put it to rest and not say anything, I turn towards my parents. My father holds may mother in his arms as to keep her from falling over. “ My baby girl. Tell me that this was not dream that Ive had for the past 6 years and that you're actually here with me.” My mother manages to say through her tears. But,(y/n) is barely able to get anything out through her sobs. All she does is run to where my mother and father stand and embraces them. At that they all fall to the floor in their embrace. Hvitserk is now standing beside me. Watching, with the rest of us the reunion of a mother with her child. In my daze of being focused on my parents and sister reuniting I fail to realize that both Torvi and Aslaug are missing......
Tumblr media
Aslaug POV
“She should have been dead!!! What part of kill the insolent bastard child do you not understand!” I scream at Torvi. “You did not tell me that she was the daughter of Ragnar and Lagertha. Much less Bjorn's sister!” I had ordered Torvi to kill (y/n) so that what I had done that night many years ago, would not come back to haunt me or my family. I did this in order to protect them. That insolent child will only bring death with her. The death of our gods. And that is something I will not allow. I had faked to not have known about her existence all that time ago, but I cannot put past me the prophecy that was foretold by the volva. I will do anything in my power to make sure that she gets nowhere near my sons. For I rather die then see an era were Vikings and Christians alike are one people.... “When Helga and Floki get to the dock. Report back to me immediately and tell Floki that he has an unfinished job from 6 years ago.” As I stare at my husband and his so called “family” I cannot help, but get a bad feeling about this.
That Christian child will pay for coming between my family....

Word Count: 3373 (she’s a long one y’all)
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7 | Part 8 |
Waking up next to Baekhyun was very different from waking up next to Junmyeon. Waking up next to Baekhyun was different from anything. You’d never had a mother who cared enough to you crawl into bed with when you had nightmares. There were never any sleepovers because that required friends, another thing you didn’t have.
Waking up to Baekhyun was different.
Being next to Junmyeon made you uncomfortable, regretful and kind of gross. In fact it was the worst nights sleep you’d had, and you’d slept in some awful places.
Baekhyun was warm. So so warm. And he smelt really good. He was still fully clothed from yesterday, and so were you. But it made it simpler and much more comfortable for the situation you were in. small puffs of air were falling from his lips. Surprisingly he wasn’t holding onto you, which you were surprised about seeming as he seemed like the clingy type. You still hadn’t made your mind up on whether you were disappointed about that or not.
His fringe had fallen in his face, tickling his forehead and covering his eyes. His hair was lighter than when you’d met him that first night, now a swirl of browns. You couldn’t stop yourself from touching it, your hand possessed, needing to move the hairs away from his eyes. As you swept the hair away, you let your fingertips graze his forehead, testing the soft skin beneath yours. Before you could carry on and continue the trail down his nose, his eyes fluttered open, revealing his hazel orbs, alarming you. You retracted your arm so fast it was as if you were never there.  For a few seconds, that felt like minutes, you just stared at each other, neither one of you knowing where to go from here. Though the silence was soon broken, unsurprisingly, by Baekhyun.
“So, do you always caress the men you sleep next to, or should I feel special?” Huffing, you settled back down, staring up at the ceiling, rolling your eyes at his remark.
“I wasn’t caressing you, I was moving your hair from your eyes, and you make it sound like I sleep next to loads of men.”
“So I should feel special?” the smile was adamant in his voice, and turning your head towards him, you were graced with it beaming at you, bringing a wildfire to spread through your stomach up to your heart.
“One of these days you’re gonna wake up with my hand around your throat.”
“Kinky.” You rolled your eyes at him, turning to face the ceiling again. You let the silence settle again, and even though you could feel Baekhyun’s stare on you, you were comfortable. The quiet allowing you to think about things.
“About last night. I think we should talk about it, properly. Without anyone judging me and what I’ve done and haven’t done.” Looking back at him, you scanned overly his face once again, waiting for an answer. Sighing, Baekhyun closed his eyes, his arm covering them from your view. Your stomach turned in anticipation. Suddenly he shot up, swinging his legs out of bed, you watched as he stood up and stretched.
“Come on, get up.”
“Why? What’s going on?” you tilted your head at him, confused at his actions.
“I’m taking you for breakfast, we can go get some coffee and something sweet. And we can talk there.”
***
After tip toeing back to your room, being careful none could see you, *cough* Sehun *cough*, you pulled on some jeans and a jumper, meeting Baekhyun by your room. He was dressed in ripped blue jean and a grey jumper. It was different o the ripped black jeans and leather you’d seen him wear before. But you preferred it, it made him look soft. As if he was just a normal  boy you were friends with.
The drive into town was slow and quiet, and soon enough you were at a small bakery, the outside was painted a pastel yellow, with the name of the small shop painted in white cursive. You didn’t think you’d ever seen something so humble before. It was very different from the chains you were used to seeing in the towns and cities you’d passed through. You stood in front of the counter, staring up at the chalkboard menu, you tried to decipher the scribble of the different drinks, not noticing Baekhyun was already ordering.
“Y/N…? What do you want?” You felt Baekhyun’s fingertips graze your wrist, bringing you out of your haze. Looking at him then the woman behind the counter, you stuttered, not quite knowing what to do, not having made a decision you panicked, letting the first thing you could think of leave as your answer. You let Baekhyun pay, due to the fact you had no money. Swiftly you both moved to a table in the back, awkwardly seating yourselves in front of each other. Baekhyun was looking down at his phone, the awkwardness was new from him, though you’d guessed he’d never been in this situation before. But neither had you. You smiled at this situation, thinking that if it was any other universe, if you weren’t the people you were now, this could be a date. And awkward first date. The mere thought making butterflies soar through your stomach.
Baekhyun’s eyes flicked up, meeting your own, making your thoughts stutter in place. Neither of you would let the gaze break, you didn’t know whether that was because you were stubborn, or you just enjoyed looking at his eyes. Maybe you should keep the latter to yourself… you thought.
Your little staring match was interrupted by two cups being placed in front of the two of you. You looked down at the latte, smiling at the little design made in the froth on the top. Soon enough you were both sipping at the hot drinks, stealing little looks at each other over the ceramic cups.
“Baekhyun, last night… what was it about, really?” your eyes had now become serious. His mirrored it. Placing his cup down, Baekhyun leant back into his seat, his palms coming down to  stroke down his thighs, readying himself for his confession.
“I always felt protective, from that moment I found you, I had to keep you close and safe. And seeing you with Suho like that… I’ve never felt so much rage before, not for one of my brothers, I was jealous. I still am, to know he had you like that. I know I shouldn’t feel this way, but I can’t help it.” Baekhyun let out a sigh, closing his eyes. You knew what he was about to ask you and you still didn’t know how to answer him, you wanted to give him the truth but you didn’t want to argue anymore.
“Y/n, I just want to know why? Why did you do it?” His eyes met yours once again, his gaze demanding the truth.
“To be honest, I was confused and unsure of what was going to happen to me, I know it’s not the best excuse but part of me hoped it would keep me safe, another part of me wanted to.” Baekhyun nodded, his jaw ticking slightly at your last remark. “What about the kiss, why did you do it?”
“Which one?” Baekhyun smirked and you rolled your eyes, shifting back in your seat and picking up your cup of coffee, wrapping your hands around to absorb the warmth.
“You know which one.”
“I wanted to. I needed to. I was scared you would leave me again.” His gaze turned towards the table as yours softened, not really realising that this was what he was feeling. “You confuse me. When I’m near you my mind becomes fuzzy and I become way more emotional than I’m used to being. Guys like us, we don’t do think we don’t allow ourselves to have feelings. But with you, I can’t keep away. “ You nodded in understanding, knowing that everything he was feeling you also felt.
“I didn’t dislike the kiss, I liked every single one.” You felt timid, hiding behind your cup. You watched as his eyes lit up, for the first time you saw him become shy himself. Fingers playing with the rim of his own mug.
“We could take this slow, if you want to? Maybe get to know each other?” You suggested, your hands gripping onto your cup, tense and hoping for a good answer. Baekhyun’s eyes flickered up to your own, the smile in his eyes coming before the one on his face.
“I’d like that.”
***
The trip to the bakery was followed by  the two of you walking round the small street, both admiring the surroundings. Trying to hold on to the normality of the situation, the awkwardness of the realisation that this could be a first date still floating through your mind. Your hand itching to hold Baekhyun’s, stayed clasped in your pocket as you stepped beside him.
“I’ve never been through this part of town before.” Baekhyun broke the silence, his own hands in his pockets, his eyes glancing around at the domesticated town.
“Never?”
“I moved here from the other side of the country, and from there I went straight into EXO, I was the last one to join, there wasn’t really any time for sightseeing.” There was a pause, and you nodded in understanding. “What about you? What’s your story?”
“Well, I left home when I was 18, it wasn’t my choice. I had to go away for work, it was just to help out my family.” You moved a stray piece of hair out of your face, trying to concentrate on the topic of conversation, but it was making an uneasiness settle upon you. “When I hit 21, I didn’t want to be where I was anymore, so I ran away. I’ve been running ever since. Well until you found me.” You turned towards Baekhyun, giving him a smile which he returned.
“Where were you running to?”
“Actually I had run out of options, if it wasn’t for you cornering me that day I’d probably be dead, or worse.” Your laugh was humourless as your shook your head. Baekhyun stopped in place, causing you to mirror his actions.
“Is that why you’ve stayed with us? For the protection?” His eyebrows were furrowed and all you wanted to do was run your fingers across his forehead to massage the worry out of the crease.
“Yes and no.”
“What were you running from?” You were about to give him an answer when you spotted someone familiar a few paces behind Baekhyun. Your whole body stiffened.
“We’re being followed”
“What?”
“Hyunsik’s men, they’re right behind us.” You looked up at Baekhyun, you whole body, moments ago full of butterflies was now full of worry.
“Are you sure?” You nodded, your eyes flickering from him to the men behind you. Baekhyun’s hand grasped yours, making you focus on him.
“Run.”
That one word had you moving seconds later, trailing after Baekhyun through the small streets that were unfamiliar to the both of you, trying to find the car that was back at the Bakery. You could hear hurried feet behind you, but your focus was on the backstreets ahead of you, following Baekhyun in hopes that he knew where to go.
You exited out a street that was opposite the pastel yellow hole in the wall that was the bakery, a few blocks down the street was Baekhyun’s car. He didn’t let up, running to his black Audi, pulling you behind him. reaching the car he pushed you over to your side, unlocking the vehicle and slipping in, you doing the same. Baekhyun was quick to start the car, pulling out, he narrowly missed the guy chasing you down. Getting a head start before they could follow you.
Baekhyun tapped away on the screen in his car, pressing on Xiumin’s contact. You heard the phone ring throughout the speakers in the car. Looking back you spotted a car following behind you, looking back at Baekhyun, you could see the concentration in his face as he swerved through the town.
“Baekhyun?” Xiumin picked up, a questioning tone in his voice.
“We’re being followed.”
“Where are you?”
“Just driving through town, we were getting breakfast and one of Hyunsik’s men were trailing us.”
“Are you with Y/N?” Baekhyun looked over at you, before glancing back to the road.
“Yeah she’s next to me.” There was a pause before he carried on.
“Are you hurt?”
“No we’re fine, both of us.”
“Shake them off. Get to the other house and let us know when you’re there. And Baekhyun don’t be stupid.” With that, Xiumin hung up, leaving Baekhyun to speed through the town, working on leaving the streets that he was unfamiliar with.
“Baekhyun, they’re getting closer.” You looked behind you, watching as the car sped up, getting closer and closer to Baekhyun’s bumper. Baekhyun looked through the rear-view mirror, speeding up as he turned out of town and into the country side.
“We can lose them out here, we know these roads better than them, they’re used to the city.” The car took twists and turns, moving about the country lanes until you headed into an area covered in woods. The car was still trailing you, and you could tell that Baekhyun was conscious about it. Speeding up once again he took a sharp turn down an old lane, causing you to grip onto your seat. The turns became sharper and sharper, you closed your eyes not wanting to be in the car anymore. Though to your surprise Baekhyun slowed. Looking at him you saw him let out a breath.
“We lost them, but I don’t know how long for. Where we need to be is still about an hour away, I had t drive out of the way so I could lose them down the back roads.” You nodded, leaning back into your seat.
“That was a close one right?” He joked with you, causing you to, once again, roll your eyes at him.
***
Eventually you pulled up to a small cottage, though Baekhyun drove the car beyond the trees surrounding the place so no one would see anyone was home. The place itself wasn’t something you expected, and the fact Baekhyun opened the door with a spare key, to you was stupid as you thought that somewhere that was practically a hideout should have a passcode or something.
As soon as you stepped in, Baekhyun pulled his phone out of his pocket, moving further in the house to make his call to, who you presumed, was Suho. You waited in the hallways not really knowing what to do. Five minutes had passed before Baekhyun came back to you.
“What are you doing just standing there, come in.” You stepped further in, feeling a little foolish.
“Was that Suho?” He nodded, leading you into the kitchen.
“Yeah, he said that Kyungsoo is tracking them to find out what they were up to, he said he’d give us an update when he can. But I think we’re gonna be stuck here for the night until we get the all clear to go back.”
“What is this place?” You leaned against the kitchen table, watching as Baekhyun flicked a few switches, before turning the kettle on.
“When we need to hide, but don’t need to leave the country, this is where we go. We won’t be here for long, just until it’s good to go back.”
“so, we’re stuck together?”
“I guess we are.” Baekhyun’s tone was cheeky as he walked towards you, trapping you between him and the table surface. He tucked a piece of your hair behind your ear, cradling your cheek softly. “I have just the thing we can do to pass the time.” You looked up at him warily, wondering where he was going with this.
“Video games.” You laughed at his excited tone, pushing him away from you.
 ***
The night with Baekhyun was something you would have never expected to have. Not just with Baekhyun, but with anyone. You both played video games, becoming competitive with each other. You cooked together finishing the night by watching a movie, it really was, just for a moment, as if things were normal. As if you were both living this domesticated life.
When the two of you had decided that it was time to call it a night, you both had an argument as to whether you would sleep together or apart. You argued that you should sleep separately if you were to take things slow. Baekhyun denied your efforts, saying that you’d already slept next to each other before this time wouldn’t hurt, seeing as you were on the run. For the hundredth time that day you rolled your eyes at him.
Baekhyun had given you a t-shirt he’d found in the wardrobe to wear for bed, waiting for you to settle down next to him. once in bed, you faced each other. Both just looking at one another, taking in the situation you were in. letting out a breath, Baekhyun pulled you towards him, so you were settled into his chest.
“I am sorry about last night, and the night before. I acted like a dick.” You nodded into hi chest, feeling him rest his chin on top of your head.
“You did, but so did I.” Pulling away you looked up at him, giving him a small smile. “But we’re okay now.” Cupping your cheek, Baekhyun leant down to press a kiss to your lips, his nose brushing against you own. You smiled against his lips, moving in to kiss him again.
Each peck turned into a longer kiss, progressing into open mouthed kisses until you were both in a heated kiss, neither of you wanting to come up for air. Before you knew it Baekhyun’s hands were becoming needy. You had pushed his t-shirt up, dropping it off the side of the bed.
Rolling you onto your back, Baekhyun pressed you into the sheets, his hands movie up your thighs, fingertips reaching up to ghost over your stomach. His lips were soft on your own, pressing needy kisses into your mouth, as his tongue played with your own. His hands moved to your ribs, up until his fingers toyed with the bottom of your bra.
It was then that you realised the position you were in, and the promise you had made to yourself. Pulling away from his lips, you pushed his chest to get him to lift himself off of you. His eyes were wide and blown out, his lips pink and bitten.
“Wait.” Your voice croaked out, airy and full of want. “Maybe we should wait.” Your eyes looked into his own, hoping he would agree with you. Baekhyun released you from his grip, moving off of you to sit beside you in his original position.
“I know it’s stupid because of Junmyeon, but this is different. If we do this, this is not how it should be. It shouldn’t be rushed.” You pulled your t-shirt back down, looking from him to the comforter.
“It’s okay, I understand.” You nodded at his reply, not looking at him. Not being happy with your response, Baekhyun cupped your face once again, making you look at him. “Really Y/N, It’s okay. You want to wait? That’s fine, we agreed to, I respect that. I respect you.” You let out a smile, nodding. Smiling back at you, he leant down to plant a soft kiss on your lips, then on your forehead.
Letting you go, he reached for his discarded t-shirt, slipping it back on before moving down the bed, pulling you back into the position on his bed.
“Come on, let’s get some sleep princess. We have a lot to do tomorrow.”
Nodding once again, you cuddled into his chest. You didn’t sleep straight away, wanting to spend as much time cuddled like this before you had to go back. Back to Sehun hating you, Junmyeon judging you, Kyungsoo’s overprotectiveness and above all that, back to the truth.
Tomorrow was going to be a long day.

The Eℓyxion [dot] in Seoul DVD & Photobook; EXO asks & Chanyeol answers!
14 things that that 7 members who performed with Chanyeol during EXO PLANET #4 - The EℓyXiOn[dot] were curious about XIUMIN: How many instruments do you have at home? CHANYEOL: 8 electric guitars, 3 acoustic guitars, so 11 guitars in total. There are ones I’ve received as presents, and signature models from artists that I like. I have 5 pianos, but most of them are synthesisers and the sounds they make are all different. I also have a djembe and an electric drum. For composing music I have 3 MPCs, a multi effector, and a loop station among other things. I even have more than 10 guitar effectors. Now that I count it that’s a lot of stuff. XIUMIN: When are you going to write a song for EXO? CHANYEOL: If I had it my way it would be right away, but I don’t think I have the skills for that yet. I want to build up my skills a little more and when a really good song comes out I want to give it to EXO. I think I could be able to do that in 2019. SUHO: You like challenging yourself to doing new things such as bowling or scuba diving. Is there anything new you want to try out at the moment? CHANYEOL: I recently started golf, but I’ve stopped for now because I want to learn it properly. I want to tackle it again when I’ve got a bit more time. I took an interest in scuba diving so I obtained an open water license, and I’m getting ready for an advanced license next. I want to try tennis too SUHO: Why do you like Sehun so much? CHANYEOL: I like everyone in EXO, not just Sehun! Out of EXO there are some members that are good to talk with, and some members that are good to play with, I think Sehun fits both those categories. Sehun and I have similar schedules as well in terms of when we are and aren’t busy, so I think that’s why we hang out together a lot. BAEKHYUN: What’s the reason you’ve gotten back into instruments these days? CHANYEOL: When I got rid of my studio I left all my instruments at home for a while, so it became a habit to pick up my instruments and practice them. While I was practicing guitar I felt the emotions that I felt when I was in middle and high school. Almost like I was returning to the beginning? I’d also like to be constantly improving with the way I play an instrument BAEKHYUN: Why don’t you join games these days? Why?! CHANYEOL: I became obsessed with games for about a year and a half. I spent every day like a pro gamer, only playing games and exercising, so I barely met any people. As you know, when I become obsessed with something, there’s no end to it. I felt like excessive gaming wasn’t very good for my mental health, so I cut back, hahaha CHEN: You like handling instruments, but have you ever wanted to try other kinds of music? CHANYEOL: Like you said, Chen, I like handling instruments and I also enjoy band music. So when I compose I end up incorporating band sounds a lot. If I end up doing solo activities, I want to try a new type of indie band music that has never been heard before. CHEN: Do you have any plans to release hip hop music? I’m asking as a fan! CHANYEOL: I do like hip hop music, but I don’t think the strong rebellious mood of traditional hip hop suits me very much. Instead I want to try Jazz-hip-hop, which incorporates a hip hop beat to jazz music. Ever since I was young I’ve really liked the music of jazz-hip-hop masters such as Nujabes, or Jazzyfact, which Beenzino is a part of. D.O.: You handle a variety of instruments, which one takes the number one spot? I’m curious about which instrument you want to focus on! CHANYEOL: I’m the best at the drums, but the instrument I want to improve at the most is the piano. I want to become better at it because it’s the most crucial instrument when composing. So at the moment I’m looking for a teacher to get personal lessons. D.O.: Have you ever thought of considering my advice of ‘stop buying so many useless things! Cut back on your spending!’ CHANYEOL: D.O, you’re misunderstanding something about me. I don’t buy as many useless things as you think I do. As you know, I’m not the style to buy a lot of clothes or expendable goods. I only buy supplies needed for composing. I like to think that eventually they will become like my flesh and blood. My spending is all fuelled by my passion for music! Of course, I’ll take your advice into consideration. Before I would immediately buy any instrument I liked the look of, but now I think about it at least five times before buying. I’ll try and only buy the equipment I really need. KAI: What do you think you’ll be doing when you’re fifty? CHANYEOL: My dream is to be making music in a studio with a piano and a guitar. KAI: What’s a small dream you want to make a reality in the near future? Something small like ‘I want to collect all of a figurine set’. CHANYEOL: I want a song that I’ve made to come out to the world. If you think of it in a big way then it’s almost too big of a dream, but at the same time I think it’s a rather small dream. Because if you put your mind to it it’s not an impossible thing. SEHUN: When were you happiest while you were preparing for EXO PLANET #4 - The EℓyXiOn[dot]? CHANYEOL: It was really fun when we were practicing on stage with the dancers for EXO PLANET #4 - The EℓyXiOn[dot]. And when I was preparing for the solo stage ‘Nine Hands’, writing the lyrics was simultaneously the happiest and saddest time. Writing about everything we’ve been through as EXO from debut until now I had a lot of thoughts, and I got swept up in a lot of different emotions. SEHUN: It’s said that you hate the nickname ‘Yoda’, do you really hate it? CHANYEOL: Sehun, did you really have no questions to ask me? Hahaha. I don’t hate the nickname ‘Yoda’, and besides, barely anyone teases me with that name anymore. Translation by fyeah-chanyeol (Please take out with full credits)
