i saw a post and i don't wanna take over and derail the literal entire point of their post so i'm making my own
can we PLEASE stop acting like being dumb is inherently a negative, offensive thing. i hate to break it to you guys, but some people really are just plain old stupid. intelligence is an actual thing you can lack, and some people do lack it! and THATS OKAY!!!! it in absolutely no way contributes to someone's worth
you can be fat, you can be skinny, you can be tall, you can be short, you can be queer, you can be straight, you can be any of these things and not a single one of them are good or bad inherently, they just are
being stupid is the same. sometimes, people really are just stupid. but you CANNOT use it as an insult!!!! towards others OR yourself!!!!!! because a lack of intelligence does not negate your inherent worth and value as a human being

i think it's funny that there are people who genuinely believe messi will accept the 400 million deal and move to saudi at some point in his life, even if it's not now. the same midget who repeatedly expressed how hard it was to adjust to paris moving to SAUDI ARABIA? forget about the weather— do you understand how vastly different the culture is? not to mention the food, the laws, the customs, the language barriers? he doesn't even have any friends or people he knows in the country to help him assimilate. and you're expecting family man lionel andrés messi cuccittini to settle there? for money, of all things? be serious now

That's it for now, if you got requests outside of it, you can give it a shot.
The prompts can be short stories or hcs.

DR RATIO ANALYSIS: PART 2, ELECTRIC BOOGALOO
SPOILERS FOR 2.1 CONTENT.
Now, you might be saying - "Aurae, you already did one, why do you need a second?" And my answer is, "LORD, I FORGOT TO TALK ABOUT HOW HIS DEFINITION OF 'IDIOT' IS DIFFERENT. AND ALSO HE DOES NOT HATE AVENTURINE NOR DOES HE THINK AVENTURINE IS STUPID." Once again, here is my disclaimer - although I have been researching psychology for a solid six years, I am NOT a professional. (I will be, one day. Just you wait, just youuuu wait-) So understand that everything I say has been analyzed with personal judgement, with my own conclusions, come to with logic and my personal interpretation. This is just what I have concluded, and you are always free to disagree.
This is my legacy. To be an analyzer. So let's go.
Okay, now that my disclaimer is over, let's take off Ratio's plaster head and chuck it into the sea, and see - what does he mean by 'idiot'?
This will be much shorter than my last, so don't worry - I will not be flashbanging you with another 4k words. This is more like a follow up, than anything else, because there's a few things I wish to touch on.
Dr. Ratio doesn't hate idiots in the sense that he hates people that have 'low IQ' or are 'stupid' in terms of being 'slow to understand'. I definitely touched on this in my last analysis, but he hates people who take their education for granted and don't go places with the gifts that they've been given. He hates "idiots" - "narrow minded" people who have the capabilities to do more and perceive more than they choose to do. People who deliberately look away or take what they know and what they could do for granted. He wants to open people's eyes and allow them to see life from multiple different angles and he believes that everyone should have a chance to learn - with the whole "knowledge for everyone" thing he's got rolling.
He wears a plaster head around people he doesn't seem to know too well in order to think more, or so that he doesn't have to see the faces of the people he dislikes. Pretty good roast. However, he does NOT wear that plaster head around Aventurine. Let's listen to the doctor's judgement - Aventurine is far from stupid. Although he likes to chalk up a lot of the things he does to his own luck, he is an INCREDIBLY capable individual who's managed to get this far because of his own form of genius. He's a man who relies on chance and good fortune, yes, but his charm, his way of scheming, and the way that he's good with people? That's skill. A talent he doesn't take for granted. Dr. Ratio respects him for this - because despite the fact that he has no proper education, he has his eyes wide open to the world and doesn't take shit for granted. He learns what he can in order to survive and he does it fucking well - Aventurine is a very smart man. He's observant, quick on his feet, and great at going with the flow and thinking in the moment.
Aventio aside, I actually believe that Dr. Ratio would be a really good teacher to those who struggle. He's patient where it's needed to be, even if he's got a quick temper, and I believe in his pursuit for knowledge he would do his best to go out of his way to find strategies that would work for their individuals. We're all unique, and he's aware of this - and because he wants to allow people to think for themselves, whatever helps the individual works. Depression? He's got a psych degree, I'm sure bro could give you some strategies. Autism? He has a touch of the 'tism himself. ADHD, and not feeling organized? Bro will help you. It's canon that he's a great fucking teacher - those who finish his classes go on to become successful people who are intelligent and critical thinkers. Round of applause for Ratio, the man that kins my father. He's shit at emotions, but great at knowledge.
Also, on that note, I believe that he would most likely hate parents that push thier "gifted" students to the limit without any compassion for the person that they really are. He's most definitely got some of that academic trauma so I believe that bro holds a secret disdain for parents who just use their children to gain more recgonition. Well, not so secret. He'd cuss them out. (Ratio please cuss out the horrible parents.)
Dr. Ratio, the Teacher ever. (Hey, maybe he'd get along with Kunikida...)
Also, I am definitely planning on making a fic where he teaches Aventurine Latin. As long as you're eager to learn and willing to look past the chalk being thrown, he's got a place for you.
Thanks for coming to my tedtalk. I did not read this through, so this is not edited. Take my unedited rambles.

I kind of hate all the comparisons between kipperlily and like. Those fuckass "affirmative action fucks me over I wish I was [minority] so it would be easier" people because none of that. Is what she said. She said the bad kids already had more experience with adventuring before they got to augefort and it meant they had an advantage. Which is true. Yeah Riz was lower-class but his mum was a COP. Riz, Kristen and Fig had parents who were heroes (Sandra-Lynn is an active ranger, Kristen's parents are paladins, Sklonda is a rogue), Adaine's family was super rich and politically influential, Fabian had both. Gorgug's the only one who wasn't actively at an advantage [IN THE CONTEXT OF HAVING PRIOR KNOWLEDGE ABOUT HEROISM] and she didn't have shit to say about him. Kipperlily was the first person in her family to try heroism, the bad kids are largely legacy admissions.
Additionally to the people comparing it to the "anti-affirmative action" crowd: do you know what affirmative action is. The bad kids didn't receive special consideration on their admissions to aguefort or scholarships or additional financial support or extended assessment times or anything. How could she be mad about affirmative action if none of these people received affirmative action. What they DID have was knowledge about their classes that started much earlier than high school, which is what Kipperlily said in her file that she thought grading should be adjusted for because she did not have that.
To me it's less like affirmative action and more like augefort is like an IQ test. They pretend that it's fair and objective, but you can be taught how to do those things from a younger age, and if your parents took the time to teach you pattern recognition and shit then you'll do better on an IQ test than someone who wasn't trained for it and everyone will act like that makes you innately smarter when it doesn't. It just means someone taught you how to do that earlier.
Barring Gorgug, every one of the bad kids had access to information about heroism and their class at a younger age than Kipperlily did, which primed them for success in their classes. Every one of them got additional information about mysteries from their families (and even direct battle-tactics training from Bill), Riz especially with getting classified info out of his mum. Kipperlily does not have hero relatives. She's the first in her family line to attend a hero school. She knew nothing about it before her first day, meanwhile Kristen was already the chosen of Helio, Adaine had already been attending the best wizard school in the country, Fabian had already spent his whole life training with his father, and Riz was already involved in solving mysteries using info and tactics he got from his parents.
They aren't necessarily "privileged" (except Fabian and Adaine), but Kipperlily didn't say they were, she said that in the specific context of attending a hero school they had a prior-knowledge advantage. Saying they didn't is like comparing the grades of a kid who's academic career started with preschool with a kid who didn't attend until middle school and acting like one of them wasn't better prepared.

Hogwarts Legacy Modern AU
Sharp: -sighs and rests his head in his hands- What is the problem now, Mr. Prewett?
Prewett: I don’t want to share a station with her, she’s extremely belligerent and insulted me.
Sharp: MC, what did you say to him?
MC: I told him if I wanted to kill myself, I’d jump from his ego to his IQ.
Sharp: -snorts and tries (unsuccessfully) to keep a straight face-
Prewett: See?!
MC: Suck it, Prewett.
Sharp: MC! I need you to apologize to Mr. Prewett.
MC: Fine. Leander, I’m sorry for the mean, cruel, yet accurate thing I said to you.
Prewett: Seriously?! Professor Sharp, I won’t tolerate her insults!
MC: I don’t tolerate you in general.
Sharp: MC! Stop bickering like spoiled children! MC, grab your belongings, I’ll move you over by…oh no.
MC: What?
Sharp: The only open seat is by Mr. Weasley and I don’t think it’s a good idea to pair you up with him.
MC: No, no, it’s ok! Clearly I’ve hurt Prewett’s delicate feelings, I’ll go sit with Garreth. -moves her stuff over to Garreth-
Garreth: Wanna see what happens if we use twice the amount of horklump juice than the recipe calls for?

so, like, with the CHB vs CJ thing going on (from what i’m seeing) on Tiktok wouldn’t CHB win??
cause it’s stated that there’s roughly two hundred kids there and that there are hundreds of minor roman gods and that “a lot of the campers are legacies— second or third generation. Maybe their parents were demigods. Or their grandparents.” -Hazel (SON, ch 4)
MEANWHILE, at CHB they’re all direct children of the gods as they also gain abilities/powers from their parents (ex: apollo kids being able to curse others)
and sure they got actual formations and shit but CHB has the Hermes and percabeth which percy is known to have insane battle IQ + annabeth PLUS hermes cabin being the hermes cabin with their insane tricks and ideas to battle out the roman’s. though, their fighting styles are different as Romans usually stab instead of slice which Percy is seen doing. really, it all depends on the time and place because CHB has been thru sm and lost so many kids fighters.
imagine a prime CHB vs CJ like with Luke, Ethan, Beckendorf, Silena, and Clarisse. that’d be funny and insane!
in conclusion, CHB is really more insane power wise and respectfully has Piper (charmspeak) Annabeth (insane strategist) Leo (fire + insane w machinery) PERCY JACKSON. (no nico cs we need to make it fair) and the roman’s seem to be really uptight and strict when it comes to battles like, “no! you can’t just do that in a fight!!!1!1 >:((“ or maybe i’m biased.

I love and hate how the fandom characterized (arcane) Jayce and Viktor cause they’re canonically like
Viktor: Jayce is an amazing scientists, his creative and genius mind intrigues and I am thankful that I have met him, that I am able to work with him, as his incredible dream and lives work has allowed me to work towards bettering the future and securing my legacy. My recent diagnosis has worsened my unhealthy obsession with work but such is the price I have to pay for evolution, to help the people in need . I expected more support from my partner, but I will continue this path on my own if I have to.
Jayce: Viktor is brilliant, an amazing scholar and has saved my life, believing in me when I had nobody else. His intelligence and intellect amaze and he’s understood me intellectually like no one ever else did. I have been forced by the council to play into politics and secure our research funding, although I don’t care for their trades and want to continue my lives work, devoted to helping people. However as I now am hold to a different standard, I find myself not in control of what I stand for and it pains me that I can’t be of more help for my partner.
And the fandom somehow interpreted this as
Viktor: Ew hate people, everyone can go fuck themselves, Jayce you’re a bottom and a cheater, your IQ is so low I sometimes wonder how you breathe - go fuck yourself I’ll be in my lab being annoyed at your existence you piece of shit. xoxo
Jayce: lmao I am so great and hot, look at everyone loving me, I’m a silly dumb hobo puppy eyed boi and viktor is my scrunky meow meow who’s a meanie also I’m such a top, science is for nerds lol, let’s fuck some politicians sextech > hextech am I right
Whats even funnier is that the fandoms characterization of them (not their relationship) seems to fit more the lol canon if anything but almost nobody in arcane read their lol lore

I think the best thing I've learned so far from evolutionary biology is that There Is No Wrong Way To Be Alive. Once you evolve past basic concepts of "goals" in evolution and "ideal forms" and even past concepts of what is "right" in an environment and understand the nuance of existence and how it relates to everything around it, you come to the conclusion that life truly has no purpose. It has no goals, it has no riveting origin story. But this isn't a bad thing! By the time you reach that point, that realization feels like a sigh of relief. Life is the result of a bunch of accidents and happenstance with physics and chemistry. This, however, does not undo the wonders of everything that came after abiogenesis. It almost feels more miraculous. You feel like life is this big musical that is on the stage for no particular reason, and it will end for no particular reason. The musical is so wonderful that you feel happy to even be a part of it. It's color and extravagance in the dark halls that is the universe. The seats are filled with all of the hopes and dreams and beliefs of everything that has ever lived, and whoever will come after.
You take the scale of the concept back down to your individual existence and you feel liberated. There is nothing wrong with you. Right and wrong do not exist. You cannot fail. You are not "defective" for being blind or lactose intolerant, nor are you gifted for having a huge IQ or very few health problems in your family. You are alive. You're a thing that exists and you are made of the same things as everything around you. An entity that has a knack for performing lots of chemistry for no particular reason other than the mathematical happenstance of your existence. Even determining "you" is as much of a human concept as deciding that a "galaxy" is a thing with a name or a mountain.
Maybe it's because I was brought up with a few dashes of conservative ideas. Ideas that quickly evolve into heinous things such as "proper" genetics and "purity." That your children are your legacy and it is your responsibility to have them. That life's purpose is to reproduce. That there are humans with less value because they are a blight on the population. Once you SERIOUSLY internalize all of the previously mentioned concepts about life, all of these criticisms about existence just fade away. You have no obligations or responsibilities. You have no purpose. You can not have children, or donate your eggs/sperm without caring who the other parent is. You can be whoever you want to be because you're on the stage in front of the whole, unblinking universe, and you might as well dance.

"I'm really eager at this point for real specifics--on his intellectual and/or developmental disability". This wont ever happen because of British military regulations. It would ruin the Queen's legacy and Charles' reign. Similar to paying off Markle's abuse victim. They cant release the truth about her violent outbursts because they covered it up. They consistently put themselves in these situations.
Tumblr media
Oh, you're not considering all the options.
They’re far more likely to "leak” Harry’s IQ tests or whatever from when he was in school. Either from Ludgrove or Eton. Doesn’t really matter which because once they do, it’ll be obvious what the main problem has always been with Harry.
Regarding his military experience, the rumors were that he was never allowed to leave the base in Afghanistan. I suspect that rumor will be confirmed. People who have been in the military or are in the British military can already spot the problems with Harry’s service record already.
These things won’t affect QEII’s legacy or Charles’ reign because the stories will point out that they were in a difficult situation with Harry to begin with. That difficult situation is something most people refuse to acknowledge. Harry was third in line to the throne when he entered the military. Having the military babysit Harry was the best option the BRF had in dealing with him. It’s not as if Harry could get a regular job; he didn’t and doesn’t have the aptitude to maintain one unless he has a good babysitter, such as Ed Lane Fox.
Moreover, the BRF has to maintain a visible relationship with the military. It’s one of their functions. The BRF needed to have a royal with Harry’s place in the line of succession in the military full time. The UK government used Harry’s time in the military as part of their normal military pr. It’s the same thing the UK military will likely do when Louis likely joins the military in the future and when George does his military service.
Which “Markle abuse victim” are you referring to? There’s plenty on both sides of the Atlantic. Netflix and Spotify have their own axes to grind against Meghan. Hollywood rumors were that Netflix employees have been documenting all of Meghan’s bad behavior against their employees for more than a year. They had lawyers preparing litigation against her. They still might sue her. They have an axe to grind, and I have no doubt that they have audio & video recordings of her abusive behavior. The BRF likely won’t need to “release the truth” about Meghan if her Hollywood enemies get to it first. It won’t matter if the BRF does it at that point because Meghan will look worse to the (American) public if the evidence is not from her time in the UK.
I think you greatly underestimate Charles and the pr agencies the BRF employs. The only reason they’re holding back at this point is because they don’t want Harry to kill himself. That will make the current situation untenable. It would give Meghan the upper hand in accusing the BRF, and Fleet Street will have a field day with an actual scandal. Once the divorce press starts the tides will turn greatly.

As somebody who is probably not going to watch it what is going on with bunny juane. Did they actually make him into a faunus? Or is that an unrelated character?
Okay so it’s complicated
Spoilers for Ice Queendom ahead
So there’s a new Grimm that is the centerpiece of IQ called a Nightmare. It latches onto people and consumes their Aura, while locking them in, you guessed it, a nightmare. One of these Grimm attaches itself to Jaune
In his nightmare he is mocked by symbols of his family, saying that he’ll never be able to live up to the legacy. As the nightmare goes on, he shrinks down until he’s a little kid with bunny ears and tail
So yes and no. He’s not actually a Faunus, but it’s not a different character. It’s Jaune perceiving himself as a helpless little kid. Personally I think the bunny ears happened because he associates rabbits with Pumpkin Pete’s, and associates THAT with being a child. But that’s just me
Is it interesting to think that maybe IQ Jaune is a Faunus and something happened to his traits when he was younger? Sure. Do I think that’s what happened? Not really
Hope that clears things up

I read your post on IQ Weiss’ behavior and THANK YOU
because fucking hell people did not understand Negative Weiss was still Weiss but her insecurities like bumped to 1000. It’s very clear Weiss was still there, it’s Weiss, her core traits are still in her mind and heart it’s just that her cognition was distorted because of the nightmare grimm’s influence. Like that thing wanted her to think she was doing the right thing but Weiss was ALWAYS aware that it still wasn’t right. But negative Weiss also represents how Weiss feels like she HAD to be this way which is why she stubbornly sticks to it until she needs to be knocked down by negative Blake. (Who was absolutely terrifying and I loved her for it). That wakes up weiss’ I guess you can say more dormant or better views that were starting to grow (like her saying she doesn’t actually hate the Faunus ) like seriously why else would she mention that Blake’s dream character would always turn up eventually. Clearly blake was in her thoughts bc of their confrontation and Weiss’ self reflection after v1. And she’s still thinking about how to be better bc as you said being bigoted doesn’t just stop over night. Weiss had taken that initiative early on but negative Weiss needs to counter in some way.
The the grim takes these shaky feelings and adds her abusive home environment and creates something ideal for those (people, things) she thinks matter (like her dad and all of Atlas) but even Negative weiss knew some things weren’t right. That’s why weiss protects herself in different ways. Like all of the door having a different klein, the sillies, the bunk beds, and of course her exiled mansion full of Faunus and Blake’s things. The things she ashamed of being wrong about! And how this was apart of her that’s changed which as you said may be why the nightmare couldn’t get rid of it bc Weiss was already on a better path by then so it needed to like squash that hope. ITS JUST they tell you straight up what’s happening for the most part. The rest is mostly shown.
Anyways I HOPE I MADE SENSE. YOU EXPLAINED IT BETTER THAN I EVER COULD
the core difference between awake weiss and dream weiss imo was that in the nightmare weiss had no support network, just constant surveillance by her brother and jacques’ face plastered all over every surface hgbfkd like. it’s a dreamlike exaggeration of whitley and jacques judgmentally (in her pov, since she missed that whitley was legitimately concerned for her) looking on while weiss fights the arma gigas at the beginning… dream weiss is who weiss becomes when she has her father breathing down her neck and no role models or friends or escape to another continent to make rebellion possible; it is, in a way, directly analogous to blake’s nightmare turning her into adam, in that weiss becomes what jacques might have been if he had weiss’s iron determination and zero of her morals or compassion. or the weiss she might have been had she followed winter to atlas academy and married her desire to reform the SDC to fascist military conditioning instead of friends who cared and pushed her to grow into her best self.
( there’s also something too in how like. the nightmare empire is an exaggerated SDC twisted into an authoritarian state and the drumbeat from dream weiss of there being no place for faunus in the empire has this duality of both bigotry and weiss having to grapple emotionally with the reality that her family’s legacy includes horrific exploitation of and hostility towards the faunus; it’s simultaneously an expression of the bigotry her upbringing inculcated in her and an indictment of herself and her family name. like there’s a reason weiss made bashful klein the guardian of her own unwanted bigotry; she’s ashamed of feeling this way. )
what i thought was rly neat about how all this was handled is that blake… gets it. she’s hurt and confused at first bc it feels like dream weiss is showing weiss’s true nature, exposing the acceptance and apology from the real world as a lie, but then as soon as she sees what’s in the house it clicks and she gets it—and she offers yang this excellent, insightful analysis of what’s going on, emotionally, with weiss’s perception of herself and the white fang, bc she sees her own fears and hatred of humans reflected in weiss’s struggle—BUT! when the nightmare takes hold, none of that insight matters because having been victimized by the SDC and the bigotry it upholds doesn’t go away just because she can empathize with weiss’s struggle to unlearn it. and while the nightmare gives her the trappings of adam—his aesthetic, his grimm mask, his embrace of violence—it doesn’t and can’t give her his attitude; even the very worst version of blake is… basically sienna khan, actually: a genuine activist fighting to address systemic injustices. the nightmare twists her so she can’t see or accept or understand weiss’s effort to change while under its influence, but everything else she says during their duel is dead accurate and weiss validates its accuracy in her responses by arguing with her not on the facts but on her own intentions: yes, the schnees are guilty of these accusations you’ve laid out, and that’s why i want to fix it.
like. man. ngl the scene where blake identified her own fear of humans with weiss’s bigotry made me kinda wince initially bc really? they’re going to do the both sides uwu thing at the eleventh hour? but then i was really pleasantly surprised by how it ultimately played out bc. blake could see the similarities in her own escape from adam in weiss’s struggle, and that’s what inspired her to take this risk, but the thing that actually BREAKS THE NIGHTMARE’S HOLD ON WEISS is an angry, traumatized blake screaming in her face that the SDC exploited and abused blake’s people and weiss screaming back that she’s right. trying to gently coax weiss into this logic of “we’re the same” wouldn’t have worked at all but getting furious and confronting her head on snapped her out of it exactly like blake predicted it would. and i think it’s really fucking cool that THAT is where blake’s empathy led her. “i understand what she’s struggling with and to help her i’m going to draw on my own anger and fear and fight for what i believe in, because i trust her to hear me.” and it’s the right call!! it’s insanely dangerous but it works bc blake genuinely understood the situation and her judgment that what weiss needed was an honest, violent shock to her system was one hundred percent correct, and—for all that her self-doubt twisted her appearance into a facsimile of adam—her conviction that she could do this safely, that she would be able to leave the violence and anger behind once it was no longer necessary, was also completely correct. im just. really glad iq let her be absolutely right about this.

The main problem with TTG is that it’s just so mean-spirited for a superhero cartoon. Robin’s a jerk to his teammates so in turn they don’t respect him. Not to mention half the humor is the show and the characters flaunting it
Honestly my biggest problem with the show is that they took the Teen Titans, who were some of the most iconic and beloved characters, and they just... destroyed them. Turned them all into characters that they're not.
MY Robin is not a weirdo/stalker/creep/loser who can't even get his own team to respect him.
MY Starfire is not some dumbass annoying prep who overuses the word "the" in every single sentence she speaks. And she doesn't hate Robin either wtf.
MY Raven does not hate her friends AND SHE'S SURE AS FUCK NOT A BRONY 😭😭😭
MY Beast Boy is not an idiot who constantly screams/sings about waffles.
MY Cyborg is not a loud, obnoxious idiot who's only a few IQ points above TTG! Beast Boy.
These are not my Teen Titans. These are completely different characters with completely different personalities and a completely different team dynamic. And it upsets me that the legacy the OG series set has been permanently tainted by TTG! because now whenever people think of the Teen Titans they think about TTG! as well.
Tbh I wish they'd just chosen other characters for this series instead of the Titans. I feel like it wouldnt have gotten as much backlash if they'd left TT alone and made this show about another group of characters (not heroes, because you're right, this show is wayyyy to mean-spirited for a superhero cartoon. Like I'll never forget that "joke" where the Titans led Robin to believe his parents were actually alive and got his hopes up only for it to be a prank and made him cry😒)

Ya know, I've been thinking about why BSD fandom has a habit of mischaracterizing Dazai so often. It's not just him ofc, other characters get mischaracterized too, but when they miss with Dazai, they miss the completely.
I think he's the most complex character in series, both because he's constantly shielding himself by having a clown mask while emotional staying distant (although he cares about others and has formed bonds), but also goes through quiet a shift from Dark Era to where manga is now. To understand characters like him one needs more EQ than IQ (although some knowledge about human psyche in general would be welcome). Characters such as Atsushi and, idk, Fyodor, Sigma etc.- they can be 'put in the box' characterization-vise and still act like their canon selves somewhat (under certain situations). Dazai however, that simplification simply doesn't work with him. He wonders if he's allegorically human but his inner struggle are human at their core - and that's complex to portray and understand. So I believe to vast majority of folks Dazai is actually hard to understand so those people (usually under 20) are subconsciously trying to push him into their narrow definition of how anime characters can behave.
Now, Atsushi and Chuuya for instance are also complex, but in different ways from Dazai. Because they never had their 'bad guy' moments (although fandom simplifies Chuuya too imo, he's mafia executive ffs, not some delicate flower, he's done crimes too). Characters such as Gogol and Fyodor are villains, so they, in fandoms eye, can fall into a box. Dazai is gray era in everything however. That's my guess why fans mischaracterize Dazai so much
I agree completely with you and your take in this whole situation.
Is systematic how I stumbled upon a mischaracterization and I can immediately correlate it to the person's age.
And I feel this mainly with Dazai (not just because he's one of my favorite characters across all media) but also with most bsd characters, people do try to fit them into boxes. Where we can clearly see the author is building morally gray characters here. It's not a story about good or bad, it's a story about goals, bonds, beliefs.
I also think Dazai is usually the victim of this for one main reason: there's no canon backstory to him. The other day I had someone asked me where is mentioned Dazai's abuse through the story(they like to say the abused becomes the abuser but have the nerve to question his abuse). This hints at a lack of reading between the lines and understanding that the author is foreshadowing or preparing something to do with him, but every glimpse we get into younger Dazai it's so heartbreaking.
Dazai is made to be a mystery at the moment. We know only two things about him:
1. He's a liar
2. He made his friends last wish his legacy
Anything else is interpretations or someone else's POV of him.
But for me, this is what makes BSD so interesting. Each character has their development, each character is so deeply flawed, each character is human. Nothing in this series is made to be black and white.
I finish this with a panel of him when no one's looking, how tired he actually looks
