So here:

Jason, second heir to the throne of Gotham, was a happy little boy with a very loud personality. A former street kid, he was adopted into royalty at the age of 3 following his mother’s death, much like his older brother Richard, by the current King of Darkness. Make no mistake by the title he holds, Bruce Wayne is a very Just king though he cloaks himself in the fine fabrics of midnight and gold emblems that glitter like the stars.

But the young prince Jason was a ball of energy with a smart mouth and a baby as he were, often got on the wrong people's nerves. There was one man in particular, the Jester of the court– who was perhaps something more than a simple Jester to the King, maybe even a friend– had joined the Royal staff after a terrible accident that disfigured him many moons before Jason himself was even born.

On this day, Jason was only five when he trod on the odd man’s toes. He can’t remember what he’s said to the man, but it was something with loud youthful ignorance behind it, maybe something about his permanent smile and moon-pale skin. It wasn’t anything nice, to say the least, but who can blame a child of such brutal, unthinking honesty without the better knowledge on how such things were hurtful.

Maybe a man with a soft heart, and the belief he could give everyone in his Kingdom a better life and a second chance, should be blamed on keeping criminals and the insane in his company. Maybe a toddler in bright mocking colours shouldn’t have been left unattended to in the palace halls after a silly disagreement regarding his mother.

The wicked Jester did not return to the King’s court after that night.

Nor did the young Prince Jason. The boy was found in a puddle of his own bastard blood in a storeroom downstairs by the cellar, in teeny tiny shackles with his small bones shattered, tear streaks still wet on his cheeks as he lay limp on the cold cement floor.

The King had wept, cradling his broken body close to him, wailed and begged for the boy to come back to him, pleading for forgiveness from a child who was no more. The King of Darkness caressed the soft face of a lifeless shell, and that was when the shadows spoke.

A deep eerie voice had filled his ears from all directions, reminding him of a tale he had believed to be only myth. The story of the moon when she wept for her own son once very long ago …

A single tear of moonlight had fallen from the heavens, and from this small drop of sorrow bloomed a magic, glowing flower. It had the ability to heal the sick and injured– and in extremely rare cases, even raise the dead if the moon wished it so.

“However, the Flower of Lazarus is protected by a Demon whom hoards it for its youth restoring power”, the low voice warned. “And you have only until the fourth day, beginning when the sun breaks over your Kingdom at dawn, to retrieve it. For when the sun sets on that day, the boy will remain in a tomb forever.”

Bruce, because he is no King down here with a dead son in his arms, remains speechless and confused. Before he could gather his thoughts and interrogate the validity of this supernatural voice, a flock of bats screeched and swarmed and then the voice was gone.

And a man was left in a cold empty room with his beaten bloody son, fear and determination filling his heavy heart. A hope that in four days time, his son will be returned to the earth and fill the Palace with his laughter once more.

The quest carried out by the King’s Guard had proved successful, and the magic of the Lazarus Flower, brewed into a glowing green liquid potion heals the dead Prince’s body on the morning of the fourth day. A new tale of rebirth bringing the kingdom together as the King launched a floating lantern into the darkness of the night sky, a symbol of prevailing hope and new life, to celebrate the return of his beloved young son.

For that one moment, everything was perfect.

And then that moment ended.

A cloaked woman had entered young Jason’s room that very night by way of the balcony, silently creeping towards the boy’s bed where he slept soundly, unknowing to the threat of her presence. The woman pulls back her hood and strokes a deadly gentle hand up over his face until she reaches his soft baby curls as she sings in hushed tones.

“Flower gleam and glow”

And glow the child’s hair did, a bright green hue filling the room. She pulled a long lock of the glowing hair taught between calloused fingers, reaching into the deep green of her garments for the jewelled hilt of a small sharp knife as she continued.

“Let your powers shine”

The blade glinted in the unnatural light as the woman’s tan hand brought the sharpened knife up…

“Make the clock re–”

But as the knife sliced through the strands of hair it turned lifeless and lost its colour, turning moon-white and powerless. The shock and confusion was clear on the woman’s face, a frown carving its way into her beautiful features as she realised what she must do in order to fulfil her father’s wishes.

Just like that, Jason was stolen. Gone.

The Kingdom searched and searched, but their attempts at recovering the small boy proved nothing but futile and the King lost all his hope. They could not find the Prince of Gotham.

For deep within the forest, in a tall hidden tower, far away from his home, the woman– Talia Al Ghul– raised the child as her own.

Jason's brothers try to get him back in the game after the breakup and he ends up running into Roy at speed dating; they decide to fake date to get both their families off their backs. some nice Lian stuff here too.

Between These Pages (Is a Wonderful Place To Be) - ace!Jason gets extremely injured and Roy reads to him, cute little oneshot

(can you feel) the fire burning through your veins - nothing wrong with a little bit of self promo, right? this is demi!gay!Jason figuring his identity out and navigating his changing relationship with Roy. it takes place in a slightly alternate timeline where he's been to therapy for a couple of years and he never slept with Talia so it's his first time with pretty much everything. there actually is smut but it's Jason's first time :D

Arrows and Bullets - a two fic series. injured Jason falls into Roy's apartment and stays there until he heals. once again, some quality Lian stuff here. the sequel fic has some minor Jason-comes-back-home and surrounds christmas.

Boys Don't Cry - trans!Jason. I think this does have a minor plot?? I can't remember it's basically just fifty thousand words of marathon sex over the course of like at least a week

there's a middle ground between ace and outright smut actually

Some Kind of Disaster - this is actually one of my favorites and I've reread the whole thing more than once even though it's a mildly long series (although tbf I've reread longer). instead of outright dying at sanctuary Roy is just grievously injured and Jason runs to his side the moment he hears and refuses to leave. there's a lot of angst. one of the fics is smutty; halfway through the series Roy discovers Lian exists and that's where the plot really kicks in. so good

The Midnight Snow - Robin!Jason is in a time loop and Roy gets trapped in there with him

Flowers Are My Love Language - Jason keeps trying to get Roy to date him using flowers, and Roy simply refuses to get the message

Around Red Hood's Barn - Neighbors au where Roy and Jason are still partners as vigilantes, Roy just doesn't know Red Hood's identity, and Roy CANNOT STAND his new neighbor Jason. I love me some good identity shenanigans in a superhero fic

Oh boy, the work and research I had to do to pump this chapter out. I got queasy many times because I can’t really handle needles well, but ayeeee I survived for the readers!

This is not proofread, feel free to point out mistakes are wonky sentences! I’ll gladly rewrite them!

Jason lifted his shirt over his head, removing the piece of clothing that was covering his body. 

Roy’s done piercings before, and he’s seen tons of clients shirtless in his years of working as a tattoo artist. But nothing could have prepared him for the greek god standing before him. 

He watched with a close gaze as Jason spun around the room and landed in the swivel chair, causing it to slightly turn and direct Jason’s body into the light of the evening. 

Roy couldn’t stop his jaw from dropping to the floor. 

Jason’s abs glimmered in the sunlight as he put his arms behind his head, presenting his full torso as the muscles contracted and stretched under pale skin that was suddenly a little less pale under the glowing light. 

Roy was suddenly hyper aware of what he was doing. Shit, what if he messed up or Jason didn’t like the piercings and did the wrong thing when taking them out? He didn’t want the guy to be in pain, he didn’t want anyone to be in pain (except those who deserve it). 

“So uh,” Roy wet his lips. “you know what to expect right? The pain?”

Jason nodded. “Yeah,”

“Okay,” Roy returned the nod while walking over towards his station to start collecting the items he’d need to pierce Jason with. 

“Stand up for me?” Roy asked.

Jason did as he was told and rose from the chair, studying Roy’s movements as he came closer to him until he was standing in front of him. 

“Do I have permission to touch you?”

Jason couldn’t stop the way his eyes pale ears turned a light shade of pink. 

“Yeah, totally. Do what you need to do.”

They both nodded at each other as Jason spread his arms and Roy bent his knees, kneeling down. Roy looked to Jason for permission one last time before tearing the packaging with his teeth and extracting a sanitary napkin with the tips of his fingers. 

Jason was not going to think about how hot that was.

Roy came closer with the wipe until it’s moist surface was upon Jason’s nipple, spreading its juice over smooth skin, killing any germs and bacteria that may have laid upon the area. Roy did the same thing to the other nipple, cleaning it as thoroughly as he cleaned the first one. By the time Roy was done both buds were glistening with moisture in the sunlight. 

Roy wordlessly picked a marker from the pile and drew two mini circles on both side of Jason’s nipples, checking his work and smiling at it proudly. 

“Okay, done!” Roy chimed. “Can you lay down on the waiting couch for me?”

Jason nodded and stretched one last time before stalking over to the couch and laying down. 

Roy grabbed a forcep and a quirk, approaching Jason with steady caution as to not spook the man in case he was already scared. Who was he kidding? The man had a face of glee the whole time he was here, it’d be unlikely for him to back out now. 

A shiver ran down Jason’s spine as Roy clutched his nipple with the cold metal of the forceps, he could feel a bud pressing up against his nipple from the side, probably the quirk. 

“Deep breath in for me.” Roy’s voice took on a serious tone. “This is going to hurt!”

Jason did as the man said and breathed in, holding the air in his lungs, his eyes shut tight as he waited for the incoming pain of a needle being run through his nipple. 

He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t a little scared. Yes, him and pain were on good terms with each other but that still doesn’t mean he wasn’t worried about the consequences of his actions. 

Jason couldn’t stop the whine that escaped his lips as the needle went through his sensitive bud. He watched with lidded eyes as a shiver went down Roy’s spine. He felt cold liquid being sprayed on his now piercing nipple and a towel go over it. 

He sighed in relief as he lifted his head to watch Roy put the barrels on, the shiny beads glistened in the light. 

Roy repeated the same process and the same structure of words, telling Jason to take a deep breath and piercing the other nipple. He gently placed the barrels on the needle as he did the first one.

“You’re done!” Roy chimed.

Tattoo and Flower AU

A week passed before Roy saw Jason in his full glory again, dressed in the same winter outfit as the week before when Roy helped him move the boxes into the flower store. 

Roy heard the familiar chime of the bell, starting out his mantra before his head perked up and saw who was standing in the doorway. “Welcome to Snakes and Roses how may I--oh, hey!”

Jason gave Roy a smile. “Long time no see!”

Roy put down his phone on his desk with a loud clack!, excited to see the other man again face to face.

Their last interaction with each other had been sweet in Roy’s opinion. He had been looking forward to seeing him again and thought of his parting words often.

He didn’t know what the words could possibly mean until now. 

Once Roy finished helping Jason setting down the boxes, the two mingled in small talk, asking each other questions about the others life and getting to know each other. By the end of the discussion Jason’s clock on the wall had chimed. Letting the two know it was 8 am as the sun peaked over the sill and into the windows, golden light crept onto Jason’s skin, which in Roy’s humble opinion, made the man look like a Greek god. 

He was absolutely mesmerized by him.

“Well, I better get back to my shop,” Roy stretched, flexing his covered muscles in the process. “I’m down the street if you ever want to see me again.” 

Jason sent a flirtatious wink Roy’s way, causing him to blush. “You’ll see me around again, don’t worry about that.”

Jason smiled. “Hey Roy, how’ve you been?” They went over the basic pleasantries, falling into synchronization as if they had known each other for the longest time.  “Do you do piercings?” Jason asked.

Roy blinked at Jason twice, his eyes wide as his lashes fluttered down to meet pale skin in astonishment. 

He never would’ve expected the quiet bookstore owner to want a piercing of all things.

“Yeah! Totally.” Roy answered.

“Sweet,” A devilish grin appeared on Jason’s face. “do you do nipple piercings?”

Roy couldn’t stop his mouth dropping agape from hearing those words. 

“Yeah, uh... yeah.” Roy’s hand nervously went to the back of his neck “take a seat in the chair, and I’ll get the needle.”

“So are you looking for barbells or hoops?” Roy asked as he rummaged through his collection to retrieve a thin fine pointed needle. When he turned back around Jason was already seated in the chair.

“Barbells, both nipples, please. Horizontal and titanium.” 

“Okay, do you know how this works?”

“Yeah,” Jason shrugged. “you run a needle through my nipple, put the piercing in, then we stare at each other in awkward silence since ya just saw my titty.”

Roy let out a laugh and ran his hand through his hair. 

He liked Jason, he really did, he was good company and had a sense of humor that matched Roy’s. 

He could see them being friends, maybe even best friends. He just had to play his cards correctly.

“Well, yes, but beforehand I have to tweak the nipple a bit. Are you comfortable with that?”

Jason nodded. “Yeah, totally.”

Jason hoped he didn’t sound too excited. He really wanted to get a piercing to piss off his father figure.

He was a grown man, he should be able to do whatever it is he felt like. But with the constant pressure his dad put on him as well as his fathers status in the business world, he was unable to do the simple things that had always interested him.

Roy was excited too, nervous, but excited nonetheless.

He hadn’t done a piercing in a while, plus maybe this could solidify a friendship with Jason. Perhaps after work hours they could go to one of Dinah’s coffee shops and chat.

Time to get to work.

The way I haven’t seen a single Jayroy tattoo shop owner and flower shop owner AU is blowing my mind because this would be such a good dynamic for them!!

So have some of my fic like headcanons:

Roy Harper owns a tattoo parlor in downtown star city, Jason has recently set up a flower store right across from it.

Roy would frequently see Jason running in and out, carrying different pots of flowers. Some would be tall and wild, some would be colorful and small, and others would be Venus flytraps. Hence how he got that scar on the side of his neck (so he says).

There’s something... familiar, to Roy about the raven haired man that he couldn’t place his finger on. Through the window he could see the cheery decoration of cherry red pastel walls, paintings of vine like vegetation popping out as they were painted lime and forest green onto the walls. Plants set up strategically near the window and on oak wood near the wall. All surrounding Jason as he silently read a book, sometimes a small smile coming to his face as he flipped through the pages.

One day in winter while Roy was walking to the parlor to open up for the day, Jason was across the street struggling to bring some boxes inside of the flower shop. The streets were covered in sheets of ice and pillows of snow, Roy being dressed in only a parka and some boots while Jason had mittens, a Wayne Industries beanie (wait-what?), and a coat. Unbeknownst to Jason, behind the cardboard box obscuring his vision there was a frozen ice puddle in front of the door. Roy quickly took notice of this and yelled,

 “Hey! Look out!” 

Jason’s feet didn’t stop moving as his head turned around and aqua foam eyes met with blue ones. Without thinking, Roy dashed across the road and onto the opposite sidewalk, just as Jason’s feet glided over the ice Roy was there to catch him.

Roy noticed a few things in those moments. One, how tight he was clutching the box that even as his body was slipping he still held onto it. Must be some pretty important stuff in there. Two, the way his facial features swiftly shifted from  Three, the how soft the exposed strands of Jason’s hair felt against his neck and how warm his body felt against his. 

He had caught him from behind, his hands tucked under the other mans armpits as they both stood there, processing what had happened. After a few moments, Jason tilted his head back, more soft hair brushing against Roy’s neck. Once again, their eyes met, this time Jason offering the redhead a small smile. 

“Thanks for the save.” 

Roy gave a curt nod as he helped Jason onto his feet and made sure he was secure.

“Care to get the door?” 

Roy moved to the other side of Jason and opened the door, causing a bell to chime and the noirette to walk inside and place the boxes near the back. Once he was done he walked back out and the two formally introduced each other and made light conversation. Roy brought up he owns the tattoo shop right across from him and if he ever needed anything just peak inside and he should be there. Jason gave his thanks and with a wink told him he’d be there very soon in the near future.
