Cedarlight Grove’s altar for our Midsummer rite this past weekend. We shifted from our normal setup in order to avoid the rain but I think it all worked out quite well!

The days continue to stretch longer here, and along with it comes the sizzling hot temperatures. So, a new season begins today as the first day of the June Solstice (Summer Solstice) rolls in. So what’s the big deal? Well, today marks the journey when the sun travels along its northernmost path in the sky. The sun sets more slowly around the time of the solstice,…
Even though most people consider June 21 as the date of the June solstice, it can happen anytime between June 20 and June 22, depending on the time zone. June 22 solstices are rare—the last June 22 solstice took place in 1975, and there won't be another one until 2203.
In 2024, the summer solstice will take place on June 20th at 21:51 BST.
The June solstice occurs at 14:51 UTC. The North Pole of the earth will be tilted toward the Sun, which will have reached its northernmost position in the sky and will be directly over the Tropic of Cancer at 23.44 degrees north latitude.

Last night we were returning back home following a meeting at our local Christian congregation. As we reached our home at about 10am I saw a medium sized Badger walking along the pavement in front of our home and it ran up through the route to our next door neighbours garden. We see cats every days and on most days we see foxes either in the road or on our gardens – indeed there was one sleeping…
Last year I got to see how the Summer Solstice Festival is celebrated at our "local Stonehenge", and the opportunity to see beautiful garlands of flowers left on some of the stones, with High Rigg, the Helvellyn Range and other Cumbrian fells in the background. So I couldn’t resist painting it!
