muv luv alternative reflect

first thought on the story: before i even started i was so ready like i told everyone n their mamas abt how i was going to start this epic 😐. i was expecting A LOT bc not only is it regarded so highly by vn fans but also bc it left me with a slew of questions from the first game.. likee what was the relation of kasumi and sumika? was takeru going to fr survive this n if he DID is he going to go back to his original world? WHAT made him shift into this fucket up world in the first place? WHAT exactly are the BETA and why are they doing thissss😭😭 AND! IS takeru destined to suffer forever? Why?!

But now that ive finished it all.. wtf 😭 its honestly genius. a narrative that uses its medium and genre in the fullest sense!!! despite some of its outdatedness + my frustration with the protag the STORY TELLING is what kept me going. from the themes to the characters to the world building it was all so well done 😭 and its done in a way where it is satisfying to follow especially if you like to puzzle n piece things together. what interested me the most tho was the world building!! AND HOW IT ALL MAKES SENSE.. the game took all of the cliches and mechanics it represented as a dating sim n flipped them all in its favor to tell a crazy epic cohesive multi dimensional scifi tale.. WTF.

as a novel and a game it did its job beautifully.. AND even tho SOME arcs PISSED ME OFF n SOME scenes left me scowling at what i was dealing with (bc My god,! You will deal with the shit!) i kept coming back with genuine intrigue humm

my first initial thought once i was done was 'that was a LOT' bc My goodness what a fckin rollercoaster.. ONE that seemed to only plummet DOWN. As for my second thought..? 'at least we overcame.' and u know what. So true. To this i say Congratulations âge. I was unfamiliar with ur game.

prediction of the end: i honestly did not know what to expect for the end i just wanted my questions answered LOL! but when i got there it left me feeling both hollow and full.. it was heartbreaking..! BUT also cathartic?! cuz i cried like a bitch. bc. My gosh 😭😭😭😭😭😭 its some serious whiplash stored in those last 2ish hours in the game. it was worth seeing all of it tie together tho bc in the end it left u with a glimmer of hope for the future.. even though it is so so dim, its still there.. which was the kind of ending i need during these times

PLUS they played this song at the end like why would u do that. shit had me bawling fr. we used to be so happy hearing this. now it is a bit bittersweet and nostalgic.. like a memory

what scared you most: the capabilities of the BETA most definitely r u kidding me. every single battle seemed more n more hopeless 😭 every step that was taken to help humanity had high stakes. there was no way anything was going to be done without irreparable damage n loss. it constantly felt like a losing battle watching humanity try to survive and still have the heart to fight. but what TRULY disturbed me was sumikas relationship with the BETA and how they decided to tackle it. THAT shit had me pause the game for a hot min bcuz seriously? HONESTLY? it was overkill. beating a dead horse😭 they did not have to show me all of that N whats worse is that they HAD to drag it out. LIKE WE GET IT. WE GOT IT BEFORE IT WAS EVEN FULLY REVEALED WITH CONTEXT CLUES.. U did not have to dedicate a whole 30/45 mins revisiting her trauma in such detail 😭😭😭 so unnecessary my god.

even though the BETA are (by far) one of the most terrifying enemies that ive encountered in a story i want to know more about them.. the ending of alternative mightve answered most of my questions but it also left me having more bc its interesting on how the BETA operate. but there is also like an infinite amount of them i dont even know how anyon could keep up with that.. truly humanity has it BAD.

favorite character(s): meiya = sumika > kasumi = yuuko > ayamine >>>> the rest of the queens in the valkyrie squad (including marimo. excluding kashiwagi) >> tsukoyomi > takeru >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> kashiwagi.

i straight up i do not like kashiwagi LMFAOOO like i do not like her yall..

anyone else not listed i just didnt gaf..

meiya and kasumi rlly shined in alternative for me tho <3

of course so did sumika but thats bcuz i was always biased towards her LOL. however she didnt leave a huge impression on me in this story when it came to the romance between her n takeru which is crazy bc in extra i was full #teamsumika. cuz takeru n sumika been living side by side since childhood n now this random girl (meiya) shows up n she doesnt even explain her relation to takeru but she declared that shes going to marry him like fr who are u?! BUT! even tho i was team sumika, in the end (when truths were fully revealed), my feelings were a bit swayed towards meiyas favor!

its interesting bc in alternative it was like meiya n sumika switched places bc i was more partial to wanting meiya to be with takeru for the majority of the story (!) which is so funny considering how ride n die i was for sumika at the very beginning.. of course id rather have takeru have no baes at all bcuz his character is just so inconceivably dense at times (#TakeruOUT) but i felt that their relationship had more sustenance.. i believe its because meiya and sumika flipped roles where sumika is now the random 'newcomer' instead of meiya. n also bc i spent more time with meiya in unlimited.. BUT just like how i was with meiya in extra, in alternative when truths were once again revealed at the end my feelings were swayed towards sumikas favor LMFAOO

its just tht they are both so well written and humane and so so sweet and deserving. i really love them both therefore i have decided that there is no more #TEAMSUMIKA or #TEAMMEIYA anymore. ive ended the civil war. they are both equally beautiful and i want them to be best friends forever!

AS for the protagonist. Takeru. my god man 😭 talk about change. he STILL was so ridiculous at times but even then he STILL managed to mature. proof that anythings possible. I guess. And after spending over like 60 smthing hours with him n experiencing his crazy ass situation i have been able to witness and appreciate his growth ... U know what takeru. U alright............................... I guess

favorite quote: I dont even know if i have a favorite quote there was so much covered and so many great quotes in this.. if i HAD to pick tho its probably this awesome reminder:

instead of memorizing quotes im thinking of moments.. like when kasumi and sumika speak about their connection.. or when captain isumi gave takeru that pep talk before operation 21st.. OR WHEN sumika told takeru that in every universe she loves him and him saying that he feels likewise.. kyaa.. and u KNOW they MEANT THAT SHIT THRU AND THRU! its beautiful. im still praying for her tho.

rating for the whole book: despite all that it put me through this story left me a lot of food for thought. some moments moved me in ways so honest that it left me speechless while also giving me questions in its wake.. it took me a while to finish bc it had me stop n think about life and CHOICE multiple times in the realest sense omfg. it had me think of the serious unruliness of life n how do we navigate it when the universe decides to do whatverr the fuck it wants to do.. how much of our fate can we really control... AND when all seems hopeless how do we manage to find the will to continue on.. !? it all varies from person to person but ist deep shit. Very inspiring.. AND bc of how satisfying n thought provoking it was im giving it a 5/5. OKAYY

i def plan on revisiting the trilogy in the future and see if my first thoughts still ring true.. i also will be on the look out for details and hints when i comb thru it all again. but this first read was worth it and now that i finished i kinda feel empty LMFAO. i wish for more people to read it n talk about it so i can get on my soapbox n pick it apart. 🤦‍♂️

Muv-Luv Royal AU Headcanons (?) Part 2

Also possible spoilers for Muv-Luv Alternative

Part 1

Kamiyo Tatsunami, Tomoe Yukino, and Ebisu Minagi: They all work as maids/ninjas/bodyguards for Meiya and Yuuhi.

Akane Suzumiya: 2nd princess of the Suzumiya Family. She is very popular, due to her great skills at sports and friendly nature. She is very close with her sister, and wants to make sure she is healthy and safe. Because of that fact, she wants to become the next queen, but she is fine if she doesn't, wanting to become a knight to protect Haruka otherwise. She has a rivalry (and is best friends with) a noble from the Kagami Kingdom, Chizuru Sakaki.

Haruko Kashiwagi: 2nd-in-command of the Kagami Family Royal Guard. She's an athletic tomboy with lots of friends. She is close with Takeru and likes to tease him a lot. She uses the money she makes from her job to support her two younger brothers, who she loves deeply.

Yashiro Kasumi: Agaa~ A young orphan who was taken in by the Kagami Family to be almost like a 2nd princess. She and Sumika are like sisters, spending lots of time together and having an inseparable bond. She knows much more than what she is letting on, and always has some kind of idea about what someone is thinking. She also has some sort of connection to Yuuko.

Yuuhi Mitsurugi: The princess of the Mitsurugi Family. She is widely adored by all, with her kindness and beauty being known to those even outside of her kingdom. She is considered the ideal ruler for this exact reason. She loves Meiya a lot, and has done all she can to make sure that she is safe. Although she is always surrounded by bodyguards, she still is able to put up a fight on her own if need be.

Isumi Michiru: The 2nd princess of the Isumi Family. The Isumi Family has 4 princesses, all of whom love the same man, Masaki Maejima. Because of this, they made an agreement of whoever wins over Masaki's heart becomes the next queen. Isumi loves him, but she has fairly low self esteem, so she has partially given up on her dream. Regardless, she aspires to be a knight, and is very studious and a great leader.

Hayase Mitsuki: The leader of the Suzumiya Royal Guard. Mitsuki is a noble woman with a strong heart. However, she blames herself for the accident that happened to Haruka, which is why she vows to protect her. She is best friends with Haruka, which is why she does the best she can to hide the feelings she harbors towards Takayuki, so her best friend can be with him instead.

Haruka Suzumiya: The 1st princess of the Suzumiya Kingdom, and who is the exact type of gal who would come to mind when thinking of a princess. She is almost angelic in her beauty and cares deeply for all of her subjects. However, she is very frail, and this frailness was only made worse after an assassination attempt left her in a coma for 3 years. She is in love with her personal guard, Narumi Takayuki, who just so happens to be the same man her best friend, Mitsuki, loves as well. While her subjects do generally like her, many feel as if she is too frail to take up the position of queen. If that is the case, Haruka is fine, as her dream is to be a picture book author.

Munakata Misae: Princess Touko's bodyguard, best friend, and definite possible lover. She’s rather aloof at times, but likes to tease others, especially Touko. She is always waiting for someone, but Touko is the only one who knows who this person is.

Kazama Touko: The princess of a small client state of the Isumi Kingdom, the Kazama Family. She is similar to Haruka in the sense that she is also the ideal princess. While beautifully feminine, she does still have some sass, which makes her well liked. She is very close with Munakata.

Next Heartbeat Chapter 2 (Toshiki Kasumi Fanfic)

How It Began

Maruo Nakano was the stepfather of the quintuplets and he was a physician at his own hospital. He had connections to the heads of schools, politicians, along with other hospitals in Japan. One of his stepdaughters had gotten married quite recently to the son of an acquaintance from high school. Though oddly enough, the rest of quintuplets had tagged along for the married couple’s honeymoon trip. However, the same thing had happened for the high school celebration trip as well.

The rule that formed the quintuplets’ bond was to stick together, always. By that, it was simply a metaphor to stay through when things needed them to. Helping each other and whatnot is what any family would do.

While Maruo’s daughters and son-in-law were still on their trip, he had requested an appointment with Dean Matsunaga and Chief Kasumi at Seimei University Hospital in the morning.

“Maruo,” Dean Matsunaga greeted, “it’s been some time since your last visit! How was the wedding?”

Maruo indifferently replied as he took a seat. “It was wonderful, thank you. Everyone was happy and the honeymoon is still going on.”

Chief Kasumi said, “I’m sorry we couldn’t attend the wedding with all the emergency surgeries going on at Seimei.”

“It’s all right,” Maruo said. “I understand it’s a busy time for your staff.”

Dean Matsunaga asked, “By the way, are the rest of the girls on the trip? I mean honeymoons are for the newlyweds, but…”

Maruo nodded. “It’s just like the graduation trip they had five years ago.”

“I see,” Chief Kasumi noted. “All five quintuplets are together.”

“Hahaha!” Dean Matsunaga laughed. “I find their bond as quintuplets cute. Still, university studies and working different jobs are part of youth; they’re absolutely taxing to humans.”

Ignoring the dean’s casual comments, Chief Kasumi asked, “Anyhow, what brings you here so soon, Dr. Nakano?”

“It’s been nearly a year since you’ve accepted a female resident to the EICU, if I recall,” Maruo noted.

“Indeed it has,” Dean Matsunaga said. “She’s quite a promising young doctor and she learns well.”

“Dr. Takado has mentored her,” Chief Kasumi responded. “Is there a patient from your hospital who needs to be admitted to Seimei?”

Maruo put his hand up. “Actually no. Chief Kasumi, I recall the EICU is full of unique and popular individuals. Why don’t you all take some time off every once in a while? I’ll pay for your food expenses.”

Chief Kasumi and Dean Matsunaga’s eyes widened.

“That’s all…?” Chief Kasumi inquired.

“That’s all. You may tell whoever’s serving your food and drink bills that I’ll be paying.”

Maruo stood up and walked out the door.

A silence was in the dean’s office but it took a few seconds for Dean Matsunaga to smile brightly.

“Well!” he exclaimed. “Let’s go tell the rest of your team to eat out tonight, Kasumi!”

Chief Kasumi averted his gaze and with his perpetual frown on his face, he said. “…I don’t think we should celebrate so soon.”

Dean Matsunaga was baffled. “Huh? Why not?”

“Everyone in the EICU is doing their fair share of operations for the week.”

Dean Matsunaga frowned. “I thought we agreed to cut the workload for you all.”

“I don’t see why it’s a bad idea to keep them working. It’s important to save people while we still can.”

Dean Matsunaga frowned. “Hey, now don’t be a sourpuss. But if there’s nothing we can do about the surgeries that are scheduled, I guess we can wait for another time.”

A few days had passed by since the Nakano quintuplets had gone on the honeymoon trip for Fuutaro and Yotsuba (the fourth sister of the quintuplets). Ichika, the oldest one, had returned to her work as an actress, but she went overseas yet again for her acting career. Nino (the second oldest) and Miku (the middle daughter) ran a café together. Meanwhile, Itsuki (the youngest) was a teacher and she drove to school daily.

It was sometime in the evening when Nino and Miku had gotten a call for a reservation from Eiichi Matsunaga. He and the members of the EICU would eat over at the Nakano Café instead of the Pen, a bar which they frequently gathered together. It was rare to have a switch to where the doctors would dine at, but a change of pace was nice occasionally.

Soon, the door opened and six people entered the café.

“Howdy there, girls!” Matsunaga exclaimed. “How’ve you been?”

Miku Nakano bowed lightly. “We’re doing well. Anyway, Dean Matsunaga and everyone from the EICU, welcome. Please take a seat wherever you would all like to sit at.“

“Adorable as ever, Miku!” Dean Matsunaga complimented, taking a seat at the table in the middle with his colleagues. “And what about you, Nino?”

Nino Nakano looked at the group and said, “Honestly, you don’t change, Matsunaga. Miku and I just came back from a trip.”

“Kasumi and I’ve heard from Maruo,” Matsunaga said. “You girls really like to go on trips together.”

Toshiki Kasumi, chief of the EICU, added, “But more importantly, congratulations to Yotsuba for getting married.” Similar to Maruo Nakano, he was a stoic, yet young-looking guy.

Sentaro Kyogoku said, “Right, we weren’t able to attend the wedding with work going on. How was the wedding?”

Recalling how all five quintuplets had their final “quintuplet game” as a test for Fuutaro, the groom and the schoolmate who had been hired as their tutor five years ago, was a really sweet memory for Nino and Miku, as well for their sisters. The girls had put Fuutaro in a situation to guess which of them was the correct bride, but seeing how well their bond was with him, he nailed the bride-guessing game and could tell the quintuplets apart from one another.

Nino quickly responded, “I-I’ll get started on the food!” She then sped walked to the kitchen.

Miku glanced at Nino as the latter had disappeared before answering Sentaro’s question. “Ah.” She smiled. “The wedding was spectacular. Yotsuba was happy to make her dream as a bride come true.”

“Is Nino okay, though?” Sentaro asked.

Miku said, “She will be. It’s just a jog down memory lane for us, but let’s move on.” She took out a notepad and pen. “What drinks would you all like to order?”

“A vanilla soybean milk,” Toshiki said.

Sentaro smiled casually. “I’ll have the same as Kasumi.”

Kaede Ekuni, who was quite listless and introverted, said, “Just water for me.”

“Oolong tea,” Munechika Takado, a guy whose face seemed menacing compared to everyone else, said.

“Matcha soda!” Yuuko Benihime exclaimed while she raised her right hand up. She was the female doctor in the EICU and was also Munechika’s protégé. She was more of the eccentric and energetic type of person, but Dean Matsunaga hired her for her skills and (slightly) for the EICU’s sake. Yuuko was quite amusing, and she was similar to Yotsuba in several ways.

“You really love what Miku likes, Yuuko” said Tetsuya Hosho. “I’ll have a coconut juice.”

Matsunaga said, “I’ll have… whatever you recommend for me, Miku.”

Miku walked to the kitchen to prepare the group’s beverages.

Yuuko spoke up as the group watched Miku disappear from their sight. “Is Nino really going to be okay?”

Munechika had a blank expression on his face. “Says the one who ordered matcha soda.”

“It’s actually a good beverage despite the name,” Yuuko gleefully said. “Dr. Takado, if you’d stop ordering from your kids menu food from the Pen, it would be a nice change of pace.”

Munechika folded his arms. “We didn’t get to order any food yet.”

Kaede bluntly said, “Takado’s face is the most intimidating thing that keeps us from getting Nino and Miku to take food orders for us.”

Tetsuya laughed. “Ahaha, I see.” Then he had a more concerned expression on his face. “Though, I wonder what happened on the wedding day.”

Sentaro shrugged. “Who knows?”

Dean Matsunaga smiled thoughtfully. “Kasumi, do you think… it’s that?”

Knowing what Dean Matsunaga was referring to, Toshiki said, “It’s got to be.”

Everyone else but Munechika blinked.

“What’s that?” Yuuko asked as she placed a finger near her lips.

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Munechika said. He grimaced at what Matsunaga and Kasumi were referring to.

“I see Dr. Takado knows something,” Tetsuya grinned.

“It’s typical for him to know things we don’t,” Kaede flatly replied.

Sentaro said, “I guess that’s how long he’s known the Nakano quintuplets.”

Yuuko frowned, her eyes still full of wonder. “Hmm? Will someone please explain what that is?”

Munechika flicked Yuuko on the forehead. “You don’t need to know.”

Toshiki blandly added, “Another time, Benihime.”

“Aww, come on!” Yuuko pouted. “I’m dying to know now that Dr. Takado and Kasumi have shut me down!”

“Will you guys be quiet already?!” a voice yelled.

Everyone jolted in their seats with shocked looks on their faces. Though, only Toshiki was devoid of any emotion, so he was totally calm. Nino was back; she stood behind the counter, holding onto a tray full of appetizers. She huffed lightly. As she walked toward the group’s table, one of her feet kicked the floor and she nearly tripped.

“Ah—” Nino’s eyes widened. She was still holding onto the tray.

Most of the doctors saw that she was about to drop the tray, but one of them got up from their seat and swiftly made their way to the rescue. Their hands caught onto the tray, pushing the dishes from lunging forward.

“…!” Nino’s eyes were wide once again as they locked onto the most beautiful light gray eyes any doctor ever had.

“Are you okay, Nino?” Toshiki asked.

first thought on the story: for extra i thought it was a cutes romcom. even tho i wus a bit exasperated with takeru and all of the gags liek i had to roll my eyes for some of the jokes omg i was especially frustrated with takeru bc he can be so RIDICULOUS at times like get it to gether. HOWEVER. i loved all the characters except for that nobody during the lacrosse arc like girl who are u 😭 oh and the 3 little biatches like sriously who invited them? they are as ridiculous as takeru maybe evn worse and thats pretty damn bad. but um <3 i thught it was a cute rom com 🤷‍♂️ #TEAMSUMIKA ........

FOR UNLIMTED i was really interested and invested it rly grabs the reader and puts them in takerus shoes.like bruh how is takeru going to survive this 😭 NOT TO MENTION hes STILL unbelievably ridiculous. but the world building? peak.

prediction of the end: dude idek. there are so many mysteries . like why is this happening to takeru .. did he transmigrate into a parallel universe. is that whats happening. also where tf was sumika in unlimited. whats the deal with kasumi. is all of this fighting and toil just in vain? is takeru truly doomed to live a tragedy forever? much to think about
