The thread commentary where I go insane over Issue 12 of the Looney Tunes comics

(Adding the read more tag here because this post is hefty. All the text proceeding this is my live commentary from back then)

Oh this was fast. Also probably doesn’t count since Bugs is kissing him saying “Mama”

Running into Bugs’ arms for safety as usual, I see

In the roaring twenties, Bugs was still considered entertaining. But for stand up comedy. Which sorta makes sense since he does say funny remarks.

Just Daffy ref— I love how the line art gives the illusion of eyelashes

This song Bugs is singing is from the movie “The Cotton club” — so this story thing could be a parody? Maybe? Also here’s the song if y’wanna hear it. Really nice sounding.

Ok bruh if you didn’t distract Daffy with a kiss, he would’ve had more time before he’d get caught

Anyways, take two. Daffy goes back disguised as a more believable identity. Bugs still kinda playing along with a teasing “Who? Little ol me?”

Also that last panel… Bugs kinda does have that condition in a meta sense as do most franchise characters

Present day thoughts: Aside from the comic cover being a hilarious thumbnail that incidentally smokes out the Baffy shippers (me), I found this story to be pretty standard for a Bugs and Daffy involved plot. See, if Bugs doesn't contribute much to the story and gets disproportionate applause for doing the bare minimum, I tend to be less engaged with the story. Like, unless he actually earned the applause, then I'll bite. His popularity plays a decent role in this one, so yeah, I'm not attached beyond the kiss. Also our server made that kiss panel a sticker and called it "oedipus complex, bugs?" and I feel like that deserves to be mentioned at least once.

Aw, what's up, Mr. Shit Fart?

Their is an old wives tale, of a jaguar who really fucking hated cheetahs, until one beautiful day, a jaguar saw a cheetah shit his pants, immediately after that same jaguar had also shit his pants. This made the jaguar realize that both he and the cheetah were equals, and alike.

This is much like the tale of Mr. Shit Fart, the 1930.7 classic directed by the wonderful Hugh Janus. The titular Mr. Shit Fart is quite a unique character, especially for Hugh Janus's 1930.7 outings with Warner Dudes, which were less cultured than Mr. Shit Fart. The classic short film starts with the nominal Mr. Shit Fart finding a golden toilet, but, while the shitty farter runs towards it's newfound majestic cathedra, a single turd falls out of his pants. Mortified, it spends seven minutes trying to cover it up, and not let the racist caricature he just raped know.

Hugh Janus was truly sui generis in this way, as no other director dared to show something as infernal as a shart coming out of the famed 67 decade old mascot for Warner Dudes, the incredible Mr. Shit Fart, previously known as Mr. Fart Shit. It is truly an incredibly insightful commentary on neo-capitalism, unlike any that came before.

And that is all without even mentioning the unfortunate racist raped ingenue, Ms. Unnamed African Woman, who does nothing but scream for help while being tied to a stake.

She is my favorite character in all of fiction.

This truly goes to show the impact of this short film, and the truly interminable tale of both the cheetah, the jaguar, and the number two.

angsthour before sleep..again idk i always have a hc that lately after bye bye bunny never be heard again about it's productions and with stuffs happened around the franchise,he gets more stressful and try to rise his own moods by watching lots of his old shorts,but whenevere it was a shorts with him and daffy in it he tend to watch it more than three times and even sometimes until he accidentaly fallen asleep in the middle of the rewatch basically i often hc-ed him being so under stressful circumstances more and more and watching his old shorts (especially with daffy and him in it) as some sort of escapism and hoping things get better just like the old days
