Hi!! I recently caught up with Miles Morales #1-6 and Carnage Reigns: Alpha, and in the latest couple issues I was really really impressed with how Ziglar writes Mac! It was actually super satisfying to see and he's the first writer in forever who actually seems invested in driving Mac's story forward in tandem with Miles.

Out of curiosity, have you read it yourself? Do you have any thoughts?

I have been keeping up with Mac & Miles' journey, and I'm tentatively invested! Ever since Absolute Carnage, I've thought it would be nice to see Mac & Miles in exactly the sort of relationship they're building up currently with Carnage Reigns and Miles Morales, so it's been a treat to read.

This whole exchange, for example, just feels so right for how I want to see Mac as a character act.

That being said, comics giveth and they taketh away, especially Spider-Man comics. I'm not expecting this to have any sort of satisfying conclusion or to stay consistent, but I'm enjoying the ride while it lasts.

Writing any kind of story is a scary proposition, especially if it deals with personal stuff. And writing about trans people during a bogus moral panic is especially daunting -- it's easy to either pull your punches, or feel as though the burden of good trans representation weighs on your shoulders. The good news is that we are living during a time of extreme riches when it comes to trans stories, and a ton of wonderful authors are writing trans tales that defy categorization and bust through boundaries. So please write the story that speaks to you, the story that only you can tell about your own obsessions and dreams. It can be scary or funny or comforting or escapist, or all of the above — don't worry that what you write will be singled out as the One True Trans Story, or seen as a representation of all trans people. Just write your story.

Satoru makes fun of the reader's pregnancy weird cravings. Reader gets upset because they are hormonal. They give him cold shoulder . In the end, he tries those weird (vomit-inducing) cravings of reader and sings praises about how great they are.

“cucumber and wasabi…?” satoru looked at you as if you’re crazy—because actually, you might be ever since his baby starts growing inside you, he’s turning into you a food conventioneer.

and your latest convention is combining fresh cucumber and wasabi. freaking wasabi.

“yeah. it's tasty. true authentic wasabi taste makes it better.” you shrugged with total innocence. you only blink back at him as you munch on that cucumber-wasabi combo.

he barks a laugh, totally thinking you’ve lost it. “that’s like the weirdest thing i’ve heard—”

but then you shoot him a look, aghast. “are you calling me a weirdo?” and seeing the hurt flashing on your face, satoru immediately backtracks.

“nono, i mean—wasabi can’t be good for our baby! it’s spicy—”

“you’re… calling me a freak?”

“no! no!!”

“our baby wants to eat this, you know?” your eyes begin to water as you touch your burgeoning belly, and satoru winced when he sees your lips quiver. “you’re… you’re so mean! don’t talk to me anymore!”

“wait! no! darling—noooo!”

you’re giving him the silent treatment for the next four hours, and satoru has enough of it. he has to get back to your good graces fast, no matter how faultless he was before, because you’re visibly upset and he hates seeing that.

and so he braves himself. he hates wasabi way more than he hates principal gakuganji, but here he stands before you with cucumber smeared with wasabi in hand.

“sweetheart, look—”

“go away!”

“wait! i’m taking back what i said, okay? here it’s—”

you turn to him and let out a gasp when you see him actually swallowing the cucumber-wasabi.

“t-this… is g-good!” he manages to say through burning throat and watery eyes. if it’s for you and his unborn child, he’ll do it, no matter how nasty it is. “y-you’re right! it’s n-not weird at all!”

“oh my god satoru! stop! you can’t eat spicy things!”

“urk—cough! cough! cough!”

and yeah, moral of the story is… he is just soft for you that he’s willing to turn stupid because of it 💁🏻‍♀️
