The sequel to A Catching Sickness

Adrien Agreste was delirious. He had to be, because there was no way that Ladybug, savior of Paris and love of his life, was standing anxiously at his bedside, looking down at him with a concerned expression.

Pity, too, because she looked absolutely gorgeous right now, and Adrien wished he could tell her that, but if he tried to, he’d end up talking to thin air and making a fool out of himself in front of Plagg again.

Adrien took a breath in through his mouth and screwed up his face. That’s right, he remembered, I caught some sort of illness from... something. I have a fever, and that’s why I’m seeing Ladybug in my room right now.

Satisfied with this explanation, Adrien tried to remember how long it had been since he took ill. Was it one hour, or one day? He tried to think of what had happened after he came back from a late-evening patrol yesterday and decided to ask his father to let him stay at home in the morning.

Aside from the knowledge that he’d talked to his father about being sick, Adrien had a blurry memory of a doctor checking up on him, although he couldn’t figure out whether it was at the office or somewhere else. It had looked suspiciously nice for a doctor’s office, so it was probably the latter option. He might have needed a shot, because there were several bandages decorated with little Ladybugs on his arm. On both arms. Adrien wondered how that had happened. Usually, all the shots went in one arm, and he’d never gotten this many at once before.

Struggling to remember more of what had happened in between the start of his fever and when he woke up, Adrien closed his eyes, even though Hallucination-bug looked slightly disappointed by that as his lashes slowly closed, reluctant to lose the vision in front of him.

As a new memory flashed across his mind, Adrien’s brow wrinkled. His father had been sitting by his bed, if that wasn’t just another fever-fueled hallucination. He’d talked to him, too, something about Monarch and Chat Noir.

Chat Noir, Adrien thought drowsily. If this fever killed Adrien, then who would tell Ladybug what happened to her partner? Maybe I should write a will, with special instructions about my ring, Adrien thought. It should go to someone who would always do their best to keep Ladybug safe. Someone protective... Hey, my father is protective! I should give it to him. Adrien chuckled at the thought of his lady coming face-to-face with a grumpy cat-eared Gabriel Agreste, who’d explain that his foolish son had gone and contracted some peasant’s disease and then had the audacity to die from it. Her face would screw up, and—

Adrien decided that he wanted to think of something else. His conversation with his father, maybe.

Adrien didn’t remember much of it, just that they’d gotten into an argument about why Mr. Pigeon was akumatized so many times. Adrien thought that Monarch had a secret affair with the man, while his father was very firm in expressing his opinion that Monarch did not really mean to send so many akumas to Mr. Ramier. It was just that his negative emotions were so strong that no nearby akuma could resist them, and Monarch would never have akumatized Mr. Pigeon so many times if he’d known that Chat Noir was allergic to feathers before. Father seemed to think that Monarch had decided never to akumatize Mr. Ramier again!

That was silly, because then how would Monarch continue to woo his lover?

Turning onto his left side, Adrien slipped a hand under his pillow. It hit a squishy lump of cheese, and Adrien grumbled unhappily. When he woke up for real, he would have to confront Plagg. Under the pillow was not a good place for his smelly piece of camembert!

Moving his hand out from under the pillow, Adrien cracked one eye open to see how covered in goop his hand was. If the damage wasn’t too bad, he could wipe the cheese off on the bed sheets and go back to sleep, but if not, then he might have to get up and wash it off. I don’t think I can do that right now, Adrien thought dismally.

Suddenly, a red-and-black spotted hand moved into Adrien’s line of sight.

“Here, let me help you with that,” a familiar voice said. Taking a cloth from a table that had been moved beside Adrien’s bed, Ladybug carefully wiped the fever-warmed cheese off his hand, shooting a glare at Plagg, who was curled up on top of Adrien’s hair.

“I thought I told you that Adrien wouldn’t appreciate having cheese stuffed under his pillow,” she said reproachfully.

The little cat swished his tail, tickling Adrien’s neck. “And I thought I told you,” he said lazily, “That lover-boy can’t even smell right now, so he can’t complain. And camembert is the best cure-all I know. Now he’ll get better sooner! You should be thanking me.”

Ladybug rolled her eyes. Adrien, who was looking up at her now with an awed look in his green eyes, moved his lips like he was asking a question. Nothing came out though, and he coughed once and tried again.

“Ladybug?” His scratchy voice managed to get all the sounds in her name right, but when his father — who was Monarch! — had still been there, he had butchered his pronunciation of ‘father.’ This must be proof that he was getting better! A bright smile lit up Ladybug’s face.

“Hi, chaton,” she said softly. “How are you feeling?”

Adrien could only continue to stare at the angelic vision in his room. “Ladybug,” he sighed, and a beatific smile spread over his face. “Ladybug,” he repeated in a warm whisper.

Ladybug’s face was redder than Adrien’s nose. “That’s me,” she said, her voice deciding to crack midway through the sentence.

“I love you,” Adrien murmured sleepily. He grabbed her hand, which was still hovering over his, and pulled it closer to him, shifting in bed to lie on his stomach. “You’re so smart, and strong, and talented, and beautiful, and—” Adrien continued to list complimentary adjectives in an increasingly difficult-to-understand voice as his pillow muffled his words.

Overbalanced by the weak tug on her arm, Ladybug teetered near the edge of his bed. “Chaton,” she said warningly. “I don’t think now is the best time for kitty cuddles!”

“A’ways goo’ time for cuddles,” Adrien insisted into the pillow. He pulled Ladybug’s hand under his chest, to rest over his thumping heart.

Ladybug tumbled onto the bed, catching herself before she fell on top of Adrien and squished her kitty’s delicate lungs.

“Adrien,” she protested, “You have to let go; you’re going to make me sick, too, if I stay here!”

Jutting out his lower lip in a pout, Adrien reluctantly released Ladybug’s hand from its awkward position.

Sighing, Adrien rolled over again, twisting the covers and sending Plagg off of his perch for the umpteenth time.

“I knew it had to be a dream,” he sighed with as much drama as his challenged lungs could allow for.

“What?” Ladybug asked as she maneuvered herself off of the bed without falling on top of Adrien.

“You called me Adrien,” he said regretfully. His ‘M’s sounded like ‘B’s. “And in real life, you don’t know who I am. So the only reason you would be here, and call me—” he paused to take a breath. “—Call me both chaton and Adrien is that I’m dreaming. Fever dreams are weird sometimes,” he said sagely. “One time, I had a dream that the Gorilla turned into a horse, and that doesn’t even make sense because he should have been a gorilla. And this time, I’ve been dreaming of you and Dad. Only in my dream, he found out that I was Chat Noir, because I was still transformed when I asked if I could stay home from school.” Adrien let out a breathless laugh at the idea that this could ever happen.

Ladybug’s lips stretched into a too-thin smile, and she laughed nervously in turn. “Eh-heh. Yep, that definitely did not happen, nope, no way!”

Launching into a flurry of action, Ladybug pulled the twisted covers out from under Adrien’s stomach and fixed them, tucking him in securely. Then she reached under his pillow, plucked out the wedge of camembert even when Plagg hissed at her, threw it out, and wiped her hands off on her suit. Making a face, she grabbed the wet cloth again and scrubbed furiously at the goo staining her red suit white.

“At least detransforming will take it out,” she muttered.

Adrien stared at her with bleary eyes. Yawning, he stretched his arms over his head, pulling the covers out of place and shivering as the cold hit his bare arms.

“You’re so pretty when you’re in control,” Adrien murmured sleepily.

Ladybug choked and tripped over the table legs, flailing her arms wildly as she tried to catch herself and the bowl of warm water that was already splashing onto the box of tissues.

“Hurk,” she said as she locked her eyes with Adrien’s.

“Like when you figure out a Lucky Charm,” Adrien continued after another long, deep breath. “Or when you’re taking care of someone. I like it best when it’s me,” he admitted with a sideways grin.

Ladybug tried not to swallow her own tongue. “Urgh,” she replied intelligently.

Adrien only smiled. “So pretty,” he murmured happily.

Turning onto his side, Adrien frowned. “I can’t get comfy,” he complained to Hallucination-bug. “I’m too hot and too cold. You’re just too hot.” He giggled when Hallucibug flushed redder than her suit.

Ladybug stood up, slamming the bowl of water down on the table and not caring when it spilled. “That’s it!” she whisper-yelled, crossing her arms over her chest. “I don’t care if you’re lucid enough to carry on a conversation, what you need right now is more sleep! I’ll just have to tell Mon— your father that you’re still sick, and make some get-well soup to make your fever finally break!

“Look,” she said in clear exhaustion, “When you wake up, I’ll still be here. Hopefully. And if not, then I’ll come visit you again as soon as I can! There is a very important conversation that we need to have, but we can’t have it until you realize that you’re not dreaming. So for now, what I need you to do for me, mon pauvre chaton, is rest and drink lots of fluids and not get any sicker! Okay?”

Ladybug’s question was answered with a snore.

Startled, she blinked. At some point during her speech, Adrien had rolled over again and closed his eyes, holding his hands close to the warmth of his chest. From his perch on top of Adrien’s left ear, Plagg smiled a toothy smile at Ladybug.

“Shh,” he said quietly. “You don’t want to wake my kitten up.”

Ladybug’s heart melted as she looked down at her sleepy partner.

“I won’t,” she said, lightly brushing a stray lock of golden hair out of Adrien’s eyes.

Bending down over the bed, Ladybug pressed a kiss to Adrien’s still-warm forehead, and scratched behind Plagg’s ears as she backed away slowly.

“My poor kitty,” she whispered sadly. “Sleep as long as you need to, and have sweet dreams! When you wake up, the world will make even less sense, I’m afraid.”

As her bugphone buzzed against her hip, Ladybug turned to leave the room and picked up the call from the police department.

“Hello, Chief,” she said. There was a pause, and then: “That’s right, sir. Monarch has surrendered.”

I hate the fact that my blog still focuses on the Sentimonster theory so much. I hate it because I feel embarrassed for spending so much time and energy focusing on a young teen fictional boy. It makes me feel sick.

Adrien was never one of my favorite characters, and even his superhero alter-ego never captured my attention in any bigger way other than purely artistic.

However, I adored the Love Square from the start and I loved the show for it. But it definitely lost its charm and meaning after I learned Adrien is a Sentimonster.

Why did they have to overcomplicate such an already complicated relationship? Was it not enough? Was turning Adrien into a Sentimonster the only way to show a very young viewer what it may be like to be disabled and abused?

But why go to such lengths? Why turn a human - and a magically created one at that - into a puppet without its own will when you hold its lifeforce in your hands? Why make it able to kill him with a simple snap of a finger and have him irreversibly disappear for good?

... I feel massively mislead for 6 years. I admired the creators of the show and looked up to what I thought was a good way of storytelling - only to find out I was completely wrong, that there was nothing to admire; on the contrary actually.

I don't know where they're going with the story, but I doubt I'm going to like it. I feel cheated. One of my favorite shows in the last decade turned out to be a lie.

I wish I could rewatch it and see the story I thought I was going to see - something along the lines of so many great fanfics it spawned - only something even better.

But the sad truth is that it's probably going to be a second-rate children's TV entertainment. Nobody cares to turn it into something greater, and it may not even be possible. It's all about the money anyway, and this is already gaining a lot as it is. You can sell almost anything to a kid - they're not going to judge, or even be able to do so, unlike us adults.

... I'm still struggling to bring my fanfic to life. I worked so much on it; I don't feel like giving up. But it's so hard right now. I lost the inspiration I had for it, and I can only find bits and pieces of what originally motivated me to write it.

... Heck I don't even want to draw Chat Noir anymore, and that was one of my main driving points for so long. His design was sooo inspiring.

I wish this would just end. Just let me down as soon as possible and let me finally move on.

... I hope it's all done before the end of 2023.

* At the Agreste Mansion, in Gabriel Agreste's office, he's talking with his assistant via computer screen *

Nathalie:" ... And the next meeting with the investors is- "

* But she gets cut with a weird look on the Agreste's face *

Gabriel:" Ah... "

Nathalie:" Is everything alright? Sir? "

Gabriel:" Yes. I just felt one of the most powerful breakdowns I've ever felt. I can’t let this one slip away. We'll continue later. "

* But as Gabriel Agreste leaves for his lair, transforms and realizes who this perfect victim is... *

Shadowmoth:Adrien? Again...

* After a moment of consideration, Shadowmoth chooses another person to akumatize. But as he realeases the akuma out... *

Shadowmoth:Wait, what? WHAT IS IT DOING?!

* The akuma senses Adrien's depression. And chooses to go to him instead (like how it did in the Gigantitan with Adrien's bodyguard) *

Shadowmoth:What? What are you doing?! COME BACK!!!

* But the akuma doesn't listen, and it flies towards Adrien's open window... *

Plagg:Adrien! Look out!

Adrien:Huh?!

* Young man gets shocked, seeing the akuma getting inside *

Adrien:I... Pla- TAKE THE RING!!!

* He takes off his ring, throwing it to Plagg. But right before he flies out of the window with the ring, something... Unexpected happens... *

Shadowmoth:NO!

* Adrien and Plagg, both gets frozed by shock, seeing the akuma turning back to white as it was only an inch away from akumatizing him. Plagg gets relieved by that but it doesn't lasts long, that Adrien suddenly crumbles down to his knees, screaming in pain... *

Adrien:Aaarrh!!!

* Plagg rushs to him but before he could say anything, the door gets shut and he hides *

Gabriel:ADRIEN!!!

* Meanwhile at the warehouse *

Alya:Check this one out! It feeds on peoples depressions, and every single negative emotion they feel, until-

Marinette:I. Don't. Care. I thought we agreed we would start reading after we finish organizing!

Alya:Sorry. I'm just so curious to learn more about Senti-Monsters!

Marinette:Yeah, I know. You know what? Let's call it a night. You can take the book with you and read it at home if you want.

Alya:REALLY?!?!?!?!

Marinette:Just make sure to use a cover from another book so nobody finds out.

Alya:Thank you!!!

* An hour after, at the Agreste Mansion's dining room *

" So, are you feeling better now, Adrien? "

* ...The doctor says. Finishing his bottle of water, Adrien looked up to his father, and then to the doctor standing next to him, still pretty confused about all that happened (I didn't gave the doctor a name. Just didn’t feel like it 🤷🤷🤷) *

Adrien:Yeah... I-I'm okey.

Gabriel:No. You're not. You had two panic attacks in the same day, not to mention you almost got akumatized.

* Adrien didn't answer. He didn’t wanted to *

" It's okey. " The doctor said. " You're probably just stressed. That happens to a lot of people in your age. You just need to relax and rest for a few days. And I suggest you take at least one nap at day time during that. It usually helps. And if it doesn't, I'm sure your father can arrange therapy. "

Gabriel:Yes, I would.

* A while after that, Plagg finally gets to talk to Adrien when they get back to his room *

Plagg:Here's your ring back.

* While he puts it back on, Plagg gets even more worried, seeing the exhausted look on his face *

Plagg:You sure you don't want me to-

Adrien:I'm fine! Just... Tired. I'm going to sleep.

Plagg:Oh, no, you don't. You can lie to anyone you'd like, but not to me. Is that clear?

Adrien:I... I'm sorry. I just... I don't know. I don't know why did Shadowmoth retrieved the akuma when he had the chance to akumatize me, and... And I don't know if he did that on purpose! I mean... What if he figured out my identity? And... And then send that akuma on purpose? I...

Plagg:You can't know that for sure.

Adrien:But I have to tell Ladybug, and... And I'll be giving her a reason to take you. I... * Tears starts to fall down again * I don't want to lose you too.

Plagg:Calm. Down. You won't lose me. Tikki once told me something familiar happened to Ladybug too. It's no reason to take me. You don't even have to tell her if you don't want to.

Adrien:I don't? I... Thank you, Plagg.

* And... Here's the hugging scene *

Plagg:You're welcome.

* The next day at school *

Marinette:Where's Adrien?

Nino:He texted me last night. Saying he had a " Thing " that he won't come to school until next week.

Marinette:What? Did his father punished him again?

Nino:It didn’t sound like that, but, maybe.

Alya:He isn't missing much though. It's carrier day.

Marinette:And why wouldn't he be missing something?

Kim:Adrien's a model. He already has a carrier.

Marinette:First of all, modelling is not something you study in college, and Adrien would love to go. And second, I don't think Adrien would want to spend the rest of his life, just doing that.

Alya:I guess we'll see.

* To Marinette's luck, an akuma, the Wishmaker appears in afternoon. During the fight, Ladybug realizes there's a great risk fighting this akuma... *

Ladybug:We can’t get hit! If we do, we'll reveal our secret identities!

Chatnoir:Why's that?

Ladybug:When I was six, I wanted to be the Knitting Fairy, and the Knitting Fairy didn’t wore a mask!

Chatnoir:A knitting fairy? Seriously?

Ladybug:Tell me what was your dream then?

Chatnoir:I...

Ladybug:Hah! You make fun of mine, but you can't tell me yours?

Chatnoir:I don't remember it, okey?!

Ladybug:Oh. Well... We'll still need some help.

Chatnoir:Viperion, you mean?

Ladybug:Be right back!

Chatnoir:Wait!

Ladybug:What?

Chatnoir:I don't like it when you give the miraculouses to the old holders. Shadowmoth knows all of their identities. You're risking their lives too.

Ladybug:I... I don't have time to pick a new snake just now!

Chatnoir:Then why haven't you done it already?

Ladybug:I... I'll just be back with him. We have to deal with Wishmaker. We don't have time to argue.

Chatnoir:Clearly we don't. So be it. I'll just go keep him busy then, like I always do. Maybe I should change my name to " Mr. Distraction " as well, it suits me better.

Ladybug:That’s not what I-

Chatnoir:Tell me then, what did you mean? Am I ju-Aaarrh!

* Chatnoir was able to recognize the pain as he fell down, grabbing his chest. It was the same as what he felt yesterday right after he almost got akumatized *

Chatnoir:Aaaarrh!!!

Ladybug:Chat! Are you okey?!

* Realizing the status, he puts his hands on his head instead, standing back up, pretending it's not that bad, acting the part *

Chatnoir:I'm fine. It's just migraine. You go, I'll deal with the akuma.

Ladybug:But-

Chatnoir:GO!

I don’t know if anyone has done this, I hope I don’t step on anyone’s toes. Here a wrap up for 2023 for Miraculous Ladybug!

This study only assesses the fanfics posted by the last update, so if there was an older fic that was from 2021 that was updated in 2023, this would be captured by this study.

🖤 Works posted to Ao3 in 2023

In 2023 there were 10,515 fanfics posted (including crossovers and all languages). The median word count per fanfic was 2,268 words. In general, each fic received 5 comments, 561 hits and 36 kudos (median).

A majority of fanfics were not crossovers (Fig 1). The peak of Ao3 posts for Miraculous Ladybug was in 2021 with a total of 11,350 fanfics. Fanfics with crossovers have had a steady rise in popularity from 2018 with a peak of 2,609 in 2021.

There was a large shift in a number of pairings, in particular there was a dramatic increase in the number of fics tagged with Felix Fathom / Kagami Tsurugi (see below the cut for Season 5 spoilers). Other notable mentions are also Marinette Dupain-Cheng / Zoe Lee with a 2.5 fold increase in fanfics posted in 2023 (63 in total) compared to 2022 (26 in total).

🖤 Conclusions

It’s been a big year, and one that is controversial in many ways. I was just curious to see if there’s a decrease in activity since the season 5 finale, but it looks like the fanfiction writing is going strong. But are fans tuning out? Or are we trying to create more fix-it fics? (I will delve into that in a different post, since this was quite labour intensive).

There have been some interesting changes in relationship tags as well as tags for Sentimonsters (below the cut).

This has lead to a dramatic increase in fanfics for the power couple.

💔 2023 was also when the sentimonster theory was confirmed

In 2023, there were 192 works that tagged for Sentimonster Adrien, and 95 for Sentimonster Felix and 34 for Sentimonster Kagami. Recent usage for the tag 'Adrien is not a Sentimonster' was also observed (21 cases).

Methodology

Filtering

The analyses start from Sep 05, 2012 when the first promotional video (PV) for Miraculous Ladybug was publicly leaked [1].

Since the website is very active, the information may change as this data is best considered to be a snapshot of the fanfics posted at this point in time. Also note that the filter is also for last update, and not first posted, so that older fics may be captured in later datasets. But for the purposes of this study, I am assuming that if the author is updating, then they are still active in the fandom.

To get an idea on what was posted to Ao3 this year, I have filtered for last published date 01 Jan 2023 - 31 Dec 2023. Note that while there was only an option for selecting by Last Post Date, which meant that works originally posted earlier (pre-2023) would still be captured if it was updated within the bounds of these dates.

Furthermore, it is also possible to backdate works on Ao3 which may also give false results. However, it may be likely that if this did happen it would only be a small percentage of fanworks. As such the data is an approximation of fandom activity during 2023.

Relationship Tags

I have followed the Ao3 rules so that / are taken to mean romantic relations and & for platonic relationships. In this analysis, I have combined the numbers for Felix (PV), Felix Graham de Vanily and Felix Fathom.

I just saw the movie, I have to agree with you in regards to the pacing. They tried to cram 5 seasons into a 100 minutes movie. A lot got cut out from the plot, and did find it disappointing the lack of Lucky charm. I feel that the Miraculous itself felt more magical in the movie; I give that to the production team, the lighting and textures of the movie were great. But great effects do not make up for a medium plot. One thing that I did like is how the villains were literal criminals with no qualms for destroying the city and doing whatever they felt like it. The motivation behind Gabriel as to why he was causing chaos in the city with the akumas was nicely done in the movie. That when only when there is chaos the Miraculous of the Ladybug and Chat Noir will appear. I had a conversation with a friend as we watched the movie over Discord, and I suggested that one could watch up to halfway into the movie, then watch the season 4 finale and the rest of season 5, if that person wanted a "quick introduction" to the series. I mostly suggest that due to the "monster of the week episodic cycle" the show has at the start of it. Not sure what others felt about the songs, but it kind of threw off the tone of the show for me, I know that MLB has some song episodes, but those are staged around a concert or are themed to be like that. The whole Gabriel song gave me "Friends from the Other Side" vibes from the visual, but it was not catching at all.

Yeah, the movie was pretty and had great visuals, but plot-wise, the Series is better, even if has some shortcomings and repetitive episodes at times.

Germs wants a sequel too so like- wHY did he want to cram in all this shit into 1 movie??? I know you're here to milk money can you please plan it better at least

The villains lmao I was so confused like he just walked into this dungeon with people coming out of their own cages dressed as mimes and magicians without explanation???? Was kinda funny sdgfhsdfdde

The songs,,,,,they were either eh, meh, or BLEGH (Tikki,,,no one told you to rap,,,Lin Manuel Miranda is not in France,,,,,) I cringe so hard whenever MLB becomes a musical out of nowhere- but I will say this time there is definitely a level of professionalism and finish that is not present in the show.

Yeah- I'm not saying the show is perfect, or even meeting the standards of what I would label a series "good", but it is much much much better than this movie

I was just expecting some good high definition fanfiction you know 😭 a lil treat to enjoy on the side- but they butchered the fundamentals of what made the show so addicting to watch despite its faults,,,

You cannot tell me Origins Parts 1 and 2 are not 1000000x better than anything this movie brought to the table and that was less than half its run time

Okay. Okay. Hear me out. Because I'm Greek mythology trash.

An Odyssey AU for Miraculous Ladybug. Think about it. Adrien is the most Odysseus character I've ever seen. Fake piano playing? Hiding in a fountain? I mean, it practically writes itself. And Marinette as Penelope is equally as perfect - she creates, but she's smart enough to pull it all apart at the end of the day.

Now here is where things get a little strange: Telemachus. Being an avid MLB fanfiction reader (and ignoring all of seasons 4 and 5), I'm very well aware that Adrienette's kids are supposedly going to be Louis, Hugo, and Emma. Now tell me, what could Emma be short for? That's right, Telemachus. So hear me out - Adrien was drafted into the war *Before* Emma was born, so he never knew he had a daughter and his last request for his child was to name them Telemachus. But when she was born a girl, she was nicknamed Emma. Hugo and Louis don't exist in this version, obviously.

So we have our main family, what about everyone else? Well, we have Adrian's two crewmates, Polites and Eurilochus. Or in this case, Nino and Felix. Nino is his friend who fought at his side and is tragically killed along the ride back, causing Adrian to go into a spiral of grief, whereas Felix is his somewhat suspicious and angry second in command who can't understand why Adrien is being so reckless with his own life and that of the crew to get back to his wife and child. So eventually he starts straight up sabotaging the trip to try and get through to Adrien, which doesn't ever work because when Adrien is in love, he doesn't notice other people.

As for the people they meet on their travels:

Circe is Lila - this one feels pretty self explanatory, except for the fact that Lila would never care that much about the nymphs around her, so I'm thinking she lives alone on the island and basically functions as a non-water siren - she draws men in with comfort and beauty and then turns them into pigs.

The wind god Aeolus is just Trixx - they're weird and whimsical and would absolutely give someone a bag of wind with the word "gold" written on it.

Calypso is Chloe, left there alone on this island for "protection" from her overbearing father, a minor deity. Again, this just kind of makes sense in my brain. And she gets a little bit of a redemption when she finally willingly lets Adrien go home.

When the crew of the ship go down into the underworld, they meet "Tyresius", who in this case is Master Fu. Weird cryptic old wise guy who's maybe dead? Yeah. That fits.

And finally we have the deities themselves. Like I said, Trixx is already accounted for, so we have three main ones - Posideon, Athena, and Hermes.

Posideon is most definitely ShadowMoth - not really any meaning behind this, we're just making him mysterious and powerful and angry at Adrien for seemingly no reason. But he's doing his best to keep this man from reaching home, possibly because early in the journey, Adrien was instrumental in killing a sentimonster, which canonically is kind of a piece of the creator.

Athena and Hermes are two of a pair - Tikki and Plagg, obviously. Wisdom and trickery, sounds just about right to me.

Miraculous Ladybug - my thoughts.

Hello!

It's been a while, I know. But I come back to rant yet again! I'm sorry for any mistakes in advance - its 2am and the thoughts won't let me sleep so I have to get them out there somewhere. If you don't want to waste your time - skip it. If you actually want to read it, I'll have a cookie waiting for you at the end of this. :3

My journey with MLB.

Miraculous was that one show that I got to know about through a parody of it on polish yt channel called Surreactor. I didn't know what it was about but it looked interesting and that was a point in time when season 3 was just starting to come out. Sooo, as the curious child I was - I gave it a go. And it captured me very easily.

At first all I wanted is for Adrien and Mari to finally get together. I never had big thoughts about it. Then I got bored between new episodes and just... forgot about it.

After some time however I came back to it. It was somewhere around 4th season airing. I returned to it, watched it all over again and it captured me yet again. I completely fell in love with Adrien as character and started to read loads of fanfiction about the two main heroes. I got invested, started to draw the characters in different settings and what not. I started even posting here on tumblr the rants that blew out about Adrien and about Black Cat holders as a whole just because I was frustrated on how little love he got or that I couldn't find any theories that would make sense.

I made new friend, started to plan stories more than I did before, returned to RP with my old friend through messenger and more.

It was a blow of creativity of mine at that time. You maybe you know of "Sky Is The Limit"? That was the point for me where I had so many ideas that I had to do something with at least one of them. Talking about an overload, right?

Season 4 finale - the best finale in this show in my honest opinion. Though I am based so who cares.

The point is - I deeply fell in love with this fandom for the most part.

And then... season 5 happened.

At first I was hooked. Really. I felt that it was going in the right direction and I even wanted to watch it later so I could see it in order.

Oh boy, did I get disappointed. Very disappointed.

I was never a Senti-Adrien fan, let's be real. But the execution? Even worse.

The finale? The fight yea, fun. But why cut out Adrien out of it???

Chloe as mayor? ARE YOU FOR FUCKING REAL? It's losing braincells more and more.

And I know the plot armor was always evident in this show and all.... but i feel like it was knocked up 10 times or more in season 5 to the point it could beat Game of Thrones seasons 7 and 8. (Yeah, I know what should compare two shows where one is fenomenal and the other has always been trash, but you can't argue with me that seasons 7 and 8 weren't rushed and had very poor execution)

To say that I was angry is an understatement. I HATED season 5 with every fiber of my existence. I still do, but I'm far more calm about it than I was originally. Believe it or not.

I saw all the drama in the fandom. When people complained about the show and other people came in to defend it. And I have to say - I can see where both sides are coming from.

To the people who enjoy it, all of it - I'm glad you do! I really am!

However.

I can clearly see where the hate is coming from and anytime I saw a valid critique I couldn't help but agree with it. There were some awesome responses to that critique even from people who do enjoy the show still, but there were always people who I'll call "white knights".

Aka people who will ride-or-die for the show and always say there is nothing wrong with it!

Oh how I hate this way of thinking....

Little message to those white knights - yes there are pure haters that hate just to hate, but in the spectrum of people who are critiquing the show are also people who loved it and got disappointed. When people are angry/dissapointed they usually feel the need to express themselves and forums like Reddit, Tumblr, Twitter, are just perfect for ranting. I have spent fair share in the horse gaming community to know that every flop will have a retaliation and shutting up people will make them only more angry. :|

I stopped liking the show. Why am I coming back to it?

That's a question that started to bother me just as I was going to sleep.

I have watched Hazbin Hotel (Lucifer my beloved) and fell deeply in love with it. I always liked Vivzie's Hellaverse being it Helluva Boss and now Hazbin, but there is something that just came back to me.

I started yet again imagining Adrien and Marinette but in the helllaverse. Or what if I merged hellaverse and Miraculous together in some way. Or other crazy ideas that will never see the light of day.

It's always those two characters for the most part. But the moment those two show up, the rest of Miraculous cast does too.

I fell put of the show. I don't like it. Why do I keep coming back?

My thought is - the fandom and the work it did for the characters.

I have always loved to read fanfiction even it came to miraculous. And it's always SO MANY! With many different variants of the world or entirely different settings. Ofc there are some bad fics, but the good ones are those that captured my heart and made me love the characters even more.

Let's put in some examples (and recommendations if you want to check them out):

All of these are just very few examples from multitude of content I devoured when I was in the love stage for MLB. And those things are STILL SO GOOD. (You have to check it out if you haven't already)

The point is - the fandom fell in love with the concept and if not that, then the characters. Yes, they aren't perfect. Some would say they are very much Mary Sue-ish. Some would say they are badly written. While the fact is - the characters themselves aren't badly written, the plot is just badly handled.

I can see why people love Marinette, she is quirky, funny and her ideas, while absurd most of the time, they work. And that's fine! She is supposed to be creative and what not. A great friend to have in corner, that for sure :3

Adrien on the other hand is supposed to be a bundle of issues that come with living a sheltered life and the want to be free.

(The movie handled Marinette much better than the show, let's be real here)

Sad fact - the writers of the show couldn't handle all of the potential they set up. But the fandom could and that's what's beautiful in my opinion.

The show may not be a masterpiece but they made some aspects of it so enjoyable and investing (love-square) that other people decided to execute those good things in their own stories and create something else.

The characters are just so easy to put into other stories too. Because they are written in the way they are (even if poorly handled at times) the aspects of them are very flexible, which in turn makes them easy to incorporate into other AUs.

For me it proves that you don't need a very complicated and deep character to make your story memorable. Even tho that certainly helps depending on your story. Miraculous was really lucky it got that creative fandom in the first place.

And this is what is beautiful.

I am not quitting tumblr, oh no. I'll be probably reposting some stuff that I like from time to time.

I am returning to write "Sky Is The Limit", however I am completely rewriting it for the.... 7th time? Something like that. I doubt I'll finish it anytime soon at this rate and if I get the need to draw I might draw few characters from there or designs I have planned.

I have a very big project in mind that I might probably make a new blog for. It's still just an idea but I getting closer to actually being made so stay tuned.

I will start posting stuff from Hazbin Hotel. I fell deeply in love with Lucifer's character and you can't unglue me from that duck man!!

Other than that I went to university and I'm enjoying my time here so yeah.
