#Oh and this one? Their backstory is like an eldritch horror

I like to give OCs non-traumatic backstories because a character doesn't need to have seen and experienced unspeakable horrors to be interesting.
I can traumatize my OCs in the present day just as easily. Thank you very much.

can we get op reader just beating the absolute SHIT out of valentino while vox and velvette watch on in horror? :3 perhaps others too, like perchance we somehow stutmbled upon valentino's set while angel was there and are just *appalled* and therefore decide his second living privileges need to be taken away <3

Good evening my dear!
When I tell you I audibly screamed when I read this request I mean it my dear! I despise Valentino and I adore this request! I did change some things because it didn't make much sense for the reader to just pop into the studio randomly and start going ham, so I went with some light backstory and causally gave the reader the found family treatment, anyways enjoy!
Tumblr media
The Forgotten one
Reader fic,
Warnings!!
Mild torture {I say mild but limbs are getting ripped off, I don't go into detail and there isn't much of it but be warned!!} I'm imagining reader as an eldritch horror, This is literally just the reader murdering the grape guy horrendously, Reader ended up in eternal damnation for a reason! Also I'm imagining the reader to be British??? I don't know why, that was accidental but if you get British vibes that's why.
You died centuries ago, your generation laid long forgotten, you could barely remember your life before the black death had claimed it, you could just barely recall the high fever, hurling over in your cot and spitting out the blood that had gathered in your mouth.
You probably weren't the best person since you ended up here, maybe you were a tyrannical peasant? A murderer? A person of the night? A thief?
Maybe you had a family, maybe you were wedded, maybe you had kids, maybe you didn't.
Who knows, you certainly didn't.
You wondered if you will ever be able to recall those forgotten memories about your life.
All you knew is that you climbed the ranks quickly once you ended up in the underworld, gaining many souls, and power one could only dream of, becoming a feared overlord.
You've gone through many names, The dark one, the Wicked, The witch, the Warlock, A child of darkness, the devil's child, {That one didn't age well},
Most recently though you were deemed as the forgotten one, always lurking, watching, never coming out into the spotlight unless necessary, sending one of the souls you kept in your place while you hid in your castle.
However decades of solitude gets rather boring,
So you decided to go out, see what was new, after all when was the last time you were out and about? The 70's? Oh you adored the results of that decade.
Well venturing out turned out to be such treat! Turns out that fellow who adored ducks's charming daughter opened a hotel to redeem sinners! Oh how darling it was!
You popped in to visit it, finding the residents quite lovely, you simply adored how Charlie thought that you of all sinners could be redeemed! It was quite a foolish thought
But you liked that hotel along with it's lovely little residents, and if playing along with the Princess's delusions of you getting redeemed after so, so many harsh years, would let you stay in that hotel and cure your boredom then it wouldn't hurt to entertain that foolish thought now would it?
And so you stayed as one of the residents on the path of so-called redemption!
you got along well enough with the others, although Vaggie and Alastor were suspicious of you at first, although you and Alastor got along well after bonding over how the noisy picture box was overrated, it had wow'd you at first but that quickly faded as it progressed,
It took Vaggie awhile to trust you, but after you had taught her some of the skills you had picked up in your lifetime you became like a parental figure to the woman, which played out well as Charlie was already quite fond of you,
You had practically proclaimed them both as your daughter and daughter in law, you adored them both, baking them treats, gifting Vaggie a pair of some type weapon, giving Charlie something related to unicorns, or a joint gift for them,
You quite liked their reactions upon receiving something they liked,
You liked seeing them happy a little too much, so much that you started giving the others things you thought they might like, expensive alcohol for Husk, shiny sharp knifes to hunt bugs down with for dear niffty, vintage radios for Alastor, tools and things for inventing for Sir Pentious, and matching clothes for Fat nuggets and Angel for Angel dust,
You liked seeing their expressions when they liked something, it gave a warm, bubbly feeling in your stomach,
You liked spending time with everyone too.
Chatting at the bar with husk, Angel dust explaining things to you that you don't know, watching your fellow residents sleep with Sir Pentious, sparring with Vaggie, scrapbooking with Charlie, watching one of Niffty's roach puppet shows, taking a trip to cannibal town with Alastor to visit Rosie,
You slowly began seeing the hotel residents like family, you didn't have a family, or at least you didn't anymore so you don't know exactly how they worked but you thought that this was good enough,
They were your beloved family now, formed from delusional hope,
and you were their family reborn from a forgotten era, burned to ashes and thrown to the dark pits filled with brimstone, sin and death.
You'd do anything for them, you'd die for them, you'd live for them, and you'd kill for them, they most definitely were your family now.
And you typically protect family, right?
Right?
You heard about what happened in Valentino's studio with Angel dust, the bruises.
You were displeased,
More then displeased you were upset, you were angry, how long has it been since you were this angry how dare someone lay a hand on your dear family member?
You waited until the majority of the hotel were asleep, most notably Angel,
You made up an excuse to go out, saying you had to check up on your castle after all you had unfortunate sinners working there and they're headless chickens without you!
Charlie told you to stay safe before she went up to bed with Vaggie.
You would be safe!
fortunately though, a certain Vee, would not be safe.
You did stop by your castle, to grab a spear with Angelic steel, you mentally thanked yourself for grabbing it a several extermination days ago,
You twirled it in your hand before a large sinister grin over took your face.
It had been awhile since you were out for blood.
Getting into the Vee's tower was disappointingly easy! Scaling up the wall and breaking a window? Child's play!
What wasn't easy was finding Valentino, the bald pimp moth guy, you had to look through several rooms, why did they have so many rooms? Did they even need these???
Nevermind all that, after searching for an inconvenient amount of time,
you finally found the one that had dared to harm your dear family member, you tilted your head as Valentino squinted to see who you were, unraveling his wings once he didn't recognize you.
He didn't look like much, he was tall, red eyes, and he looked like a grape with wings, the grimaced, oh poor Angel Dust, he had to look at this everytime he went to work!
Thankfully after this he didn't need too, you twitched, transforming into a more demonic form.
"Who the fu-"
He didn't get to finish the sentence as you swiftly kicked him in the kneecap causing him to fall, cursing you and wincing at the sudden pain in his knee, taking that moment you kicked him again, this time on his side, pushing him properly on the ground, placing your shoe on his ribcage you began to slowly crush his rib, grinning at the beginnings of a cracking noise
Unfortunately the little grape screamed out for the TV fucker to appear,
You could hear the sound of cables getting ripped out and the sound of footsteps.
"Val, what is it this time? Is it about angel dust again, I- ShIT VaL, wHO THE FUCK ARE YOU?''
And the TV man makes an entrance shouting, how annoying, well you could always deal with him later, raising your hand pitch black inky tentrals came out from beside you, wrapping the TV headed man and attaching him onto the couch.
Returning your focus to the soon to be deceased, again, grape
You bent down to wrap a claw onto his wing,
It was soft, maybe you could make something for Niffty with it, a blanket perhaps? Or maybe a coat?
You pulled out the wing as Valentino screamed out in pain, blood splattering onto you, the floor and the walls,
a door swung open behind you before quickly being closed, just barely leaving a gap for a phone camera to sneak though, the owner of the phone looked on in horror.
You kicked Valentino over causing him to hiss and groan as he now laid on his stomach, how unfortunate for him, who knew that if you horrendously abused your employees an centuries old overlord would be out for your blood!
You grinned at how helpless he was now, how pitiful!
You grabbed one of his arms and pulled, nerves and muscles separated and blood leaked out.
Vox looked on in complete and utter horror, he couldn't do anything,
Would he be next?
The Vee's floor was destroyed, Valentino was shredded and separated, stabbed in the head with the angelic steel you had brought along as to ensure he would NOT be coming back.
Both of his wings were folded and set neatly on the counter away from the carnage, after all if you were to make Dear Niffty something with them they had to be clean, mostly, you'd have to clean them again, who knows what diseases that man was carrying, Yuck!
You took some of the carnage and place them into containers before putting them in a bag to carry with you, you tucked the detached wings under your arm, dusting yourself off you checked the digital clock on the wall,
You should get back quickly, they'll be up soon.
Moving around the broken glass and furniture that had gotten caught up in the downfall of Valentino you made your way out the door,
You let Vox free from your tendrils, hearing him move to possibly inspect the remains of his business partner and whatever else.
You wonder if the third one was still recording?
Oh well, that's none of your concern,
You knocked things over, shattered, torn and destroyed anything you could get your hands on as you went down the Vee's tower, destroying what you could.
At the bottom floor a box of fireworks caught your eye, you supposed it was for one of the Vee's something, maybe Velvette's fashion thing or one of the skinned grape's filthy films,
Well either way, you were going to borrow the fireworks, set them up on the ground floor and light em' up,
The fireworks boomed onto the floor, sparkling and bursting into flames, burning and sizzling anything it could get it's clutches on.
You left swiftly after, getting bored, and you were practically done anyways.
You should head home now, and stop by your castle to dispose of that spear.
You hummed as you moved around the kitchen swinging a spatula around on your finger before checking on the meat that was beginning to brown in the pan,
"Good Morning [Name!]"
Charlie popped into the kitchen, turning your head to her, you smiled at her,
"Morning Dear Charlie, I'm preparing breakfast for everyone, French toast for the majority and I picked up some fresh demon meat to make something else for Dear Alastor since he doesn't like sweet things,"
"Really? That's so sweet of you!''
"Mhm, It's nothing, But be a dear and call everyone to the dining room so they can feast?"
You ask tilting your head as Charlie nodded with a 'Yes!' before hopping off to gather everyone for breakfast.
You turn back to the stove, poking your spatula into the simmering remains of Valentino, hopefully the peppers and seasons make him taste decent, you would hate for everyone else to enjoy their food and Alastor be the only one to not enjoy the meal.
Hopefully they didn't suspect you when the news covers Valentino's demise and the destroyed tower.
You are not a good person by any means, you were condemned for a reason, this all started to sooth your boredom, you can NEVER be redeemed....
Or could you?
Maybe this little makeshift family that you desperately want to protect could change you, make you a better person.
It was a foolish thought, but as long as you can make them a mildly concerning breakfast, spend time with them, give them trinkets you think they would like, you were willing to entertain that foolish thought, more then willingly.

Thank you for tuning in folks! I'm working on those Susan requests and the other WIPS I have in my pocket so look forward to those!

fanfic writer!Columbina
Eldritch horror Columbina is all well and good, but consider the following:
Columbina isn't an eldritch horror. She's actually just a normal weirdo that gets really into adventuring because the whole seele thing, except she doesn't want to get her hands dirty so she just lives vicariously through stories. Of course, like any devoted fan of any story, she has her own little headcannons about things so she can better rotate them around in her head.
...except that when she says "I reject canon and substitute my own" that's actually what happens, thanks to a little meddling with Irminsul.
Columbina sees that poor little Arle is sulking and asks why, and she finds that one of Arle's new ducklings lost his twin sister before Arle could save her, and now he's sworn off using magic tricks and devoted himself entirely to avenging her at the cost of his happiness. Yeah, sure, he's extraordinarily skilled and that Anemo vision is great, but now her Knave is working herself into a knot because the father and the spy in her are arguing how to care for/use Lyney. Hmm...
"You know, emo Anemo boys are so 5 centuries ago. That backstory's boring, anyway, and the House of the Hearth totally needs a low energy voice of reason. Don't worry, Arle, you won't remember a thing!"
"...why do I have a feeling that you've said that to me before?"
"Heh, you know me so well~."
The next day, the Damsellette visits Fontaine, and meets two little magicians, devoted to their House and their Father. They are rather weirded out that this odd stranger pats herself on the back for Arlecchino's accomplishments, but they listen when their Father tells them that there is nothing to worry about when the Dove is around.
("Hey, random fatui number 56. Did you hear what random fatui member 33 said about the Dove?"
"Was it something lewd again?"
"Nah, you're thinking about random fatui number 34. 33's the one with the goatee. Anyway, he was gossiping about lady Columbina!"
"What? Did no one tell him that there's a reason why there aren't any rumors about what she does to people?
"Guess not. He was telling his squad she was a weirdo for using scissors as chopsticks... which she isn't. That's totally normal."
"Wha- right. Completely normal thing to do."
"Yup. And then... oh. She's here. Salute her like nothings wrong.
"Yes sir. Uh... why's she raising her hand like she's gonna snap-
[REDACTED]
"her fingers?"
"Dunno. Anyway... wait, what were we talking about?"
"Dottore's new artificial slime? Ugh, I don't wanna think about it. Who knows how many living things went into that flesh blob."
"Also, is it just me, or does that goatee on its right head look like it came from a human?"
"Oh, why did you have to mention it, dude. Can't unsee it now.")

okay how do i get into the mechs ... i would like to know about these robots now i think
GRINS. HI. HELLO.
The Mechanisms are a steampunk space pirate storytelling band!! they are compromised of 9 members (up until one of them left). they retell myths n legends in space, tragic, and queer
they have four main story albums, a single, and two extra albums for extra stories
for the four main albums, you have to listen to all the tracks in order so i recommend listening on youtube
Once Upon A Time (In Space) is their first album. its fairy tales retold as an intergalactic war
Ulysses Dies At Dawn is their second one. this one is greek mythology
High Noon Over Camelot. oh boy high noon over camelot. my favorite mechs album and my favorite album just in general. arthurian legend retold as a space western
The Bifrost Incident. norse myth but eldritch horror
their single is Frankenstein (frankenstein except the monster is an AI), and their other two albums are Tales To Be Told volumes I and II. theyre both collections of extra songs that either work as standalone stories or fit into the same setting as one of the main albums but doesnt follow along the main plotline
they also have Death to the Mechanisms, which was a performance of some of their songs live plus a song of the same name as the album that describes how they died a final time. this was because they split up. no more mechs music </3
out of all of them i recommend hnoc the most. cuz its my favorite <3
i apologize for not explaining the albums further, but you asked about the mechs themselves so im gonna put more focus into explaining those guys
the mechanisms themselves are 9 immortal space pirates. they are immortal due to their mechanisms, mechanical replacements of certain body parts. they travel the galaxy on the starship known as Aurora, who is infact sentient and also dating the ship's engineer. they like to "have fun, violence, adventure, violence. violence." according to jonny
Jonny d'Ville - he/him. he's claims he's the ships captain. hes the first mate. he is the narrator to all of the albums and plays a number of characters. King Cole (ouat(is)), Ulysses (udad), Lancelot (hnoc), Galahad (hnoc), and the void (tbi) are a few. there's more, but theyre more minor. hes pretty shooty and has canonically committed every crime (that existed on a planet) except the sexual ones. his mechanism is his heart!
Gunpowder Tim - he/him. master at arms! hes another one that sings often. he also plays the guitar. a few characters hes been are Oedipus (udad), Gawain (hnoc), and Loki (tbi). his mechanism is his eyes. hes also on the violent side. he blew up the moon, as detailed in the song Gunpowder Tim vs The Moon Kaiser from the ttbt vol 1
Ashes o'Reilly - they/them. quartermaster. they sing often and their voice is beautiful <3 they play bass aswell. some characters theyve played are Hades/themself (udad), Mordred (hnoc), and Sigyn (tbi). their mechanism is their lungs. theyre also a mob boss and arsonist and have been since they were 12 years old, described in their backstory song Lucky Sevens
Drumbot Brian - he/him. pilot. he doesnt sing as often but its great when he does! he plays a few different instruments. a couple of his characters are Merlin/himself (hnoc) and the robot spouse in Stranger (ttbt vol 2). everything except his heart is mechanical. he was thrown into space because he brought someone back to life
The Toy Soldier - it/its. its just there!! it sings often and plays the mandolin. some characters are Cinders (ouat(is)), Orpheus (udad), and Guinevere (hnoc). its a toy soldier. it was never human it just started walking one day
Raphaella la Cognizi - she/her. science officer. she is another singer!! and pianist!! her voice is heavenly tbh. notable roles are Ariadne (udad), Ygraine (hnoc (one song but it Slaps)), and Odin (tbi). her mechanism is a pair of wings!
Marius von Raum - he/him. doctor (not even a doctor). he sings and plays violin. and mandolin the wiki says. Heracles (udad), Arthur (hnoc), Thor (tbi). his mechanism is his right arm
Ivy Alexandria - she/her. archivist. she plays a few wind instruments, no singing. her mechanism is her brain
Nastya Rasputina - she/her. engineer. she is in gay love with the sentient starship <3. she plays violin, no singing. her mechanism is her blood, which is mercury. she decided to go Out (she believed that aurora was no longer the same starship she fell in love with because of all the repairs over the centuries theyve been alive, so she takes the final piece of the original aurora and exits out of the airlock, never to be seen again) sometime after hnoc
and there you are!! them!!
despite me giving some examples to who they play in the albums, thats not all the characters they play. theres also extra characters in narration i didnt mention (ivy and nastya both have been in narration tracks before) and theres also characters they play in the extra songs in the tales to be told volumes
i hope you end up liking them <333 heres a photo of them all together for u

:O for the team ask game! Kafka, Black Swan, Ruan Mei, and Luocha (I love women (I love twinks (I love women & twinks))) I can't tell if my team is good or bad honestly :'D
ask game is closed!
hello~ you are so valid lmao luocha is one of the girlies (also yes your team is quite good from a gameplay perspective)
also sorry i don't think i totally understand black swan's character yet so i might be a little inaccurate when it comes to her!
who’s the most ticklish character
i think it'd be ruan mei! she doesn't really mind, though, and i think she'd be interested in why she's so ticklish compared to her teammates or why people laugh when tickled. yeah tbh i think she'd find tickling fascinating because what is the evolutionary advantage of being born with a trait that can be so debilitating
who’s the character that most people would assume isn't ticklish, but actually is
black swan because she literally does not have a body lmao BUT you can still tickle her in dreams and such! it surprised her too when she first became a memokeeper and felt the light breeze tingle against her back in a dream like bruh what was even the point of giving up your body if you can still feel stuff asdlkfjs
who’s the character that everyone gangs up on and tickles
oh it's absolutely luocha because he's the only guy on the team and you cannot convince me that kafka doesn't get the others to tickle him to tears. she tells him that it could be ten times worse but they don't want to ruin his pretty face~ also they'd love to tease him to get him to reveal his true identity like "are u really a merchant? what's in that coffin of yours hm?"
who’s the character that somehow knows everyone else’s tickle spots and reveals them to others
oh it is absolutely black swan because she collects memories due to her memokeeper job, so she knows where everyone has been tickled and which spots are the best. she wouldn't go around spreading them so blatantly though but might subtly drop a spot like "ah luocha, i came across the cutest memory of your friends tickling you~ i think they were counting your ribs? absolutely heartwarming." also i've mentioned this before but ruan mei would be good at guessing just based on the vibes people give off
who's the character with one specific tickle spot that only one other person knows about
ok idk if you remember but during the recent story quest but there was a shot of black swan's back turned to the camera and there was a good view of the beauty mark on her back which i'm pretty sure they wanted to show off for whatever reason but ya kafka saw the beauty mark too and was like "you got a bit of dirt there, pretty lady" and gave her a poke and when black swan jumped she was just like "whoops~"
who’s the most likely to win gang tickle wars
i'm going to assume these tickle wars occur in a dream bc well black swan does not have a body and she has the ability to choose who gets to see her so you probably can't tickle her irl and that's just not fair lol but even in a dream it's still black swan! like have you seen her burst?? she summons those giant arms and they have claws too!! and she can make people forget things for a moment, so they're like what were we doing again?? but ya black swan is the tickle monster if black swan chooses to play fair, then it's kafka because kafka comes from a place where the people do not feel fear (her backstory makes her sound like some eldritch horror) so she will do absolutely anything to win. also she still has the ability to influence people's minds and can use that to turn the tables when things do start getting bad like "listen, you will tickle luocha"
which character has a kink for tickling
i feel like the easy answer here is kafka so maybe her? BUT i just have this feeling in my soul that would luocha would have a tickle kink too idkidk he's giving me "magikarp in the streets, gyarados in the sheets" vibes, like i just feel that he's into some shit more out there than just tickling, but also tickling is one of his kinks
which character didn’t even know they were ticklish until another character tickled them
kafka because no one has ever tried to tickle her before because of how turly frightening she is but black swan does not fear her and since she does not have any memories of kafka being tickled, she had to just create some for herself
which two characters have tickle fights all the time
i think ruan mei would have this one-sided interest in tickling black swan because how does being a memokeeper work? does she feel tickles the same way humans do? will she get tired when tickled for long periods of time or is her energy endless? these are all questions that black swan has answered for her already but ruan mei will still go out of her to try and tickle her from time to time i think kafka would also bully luocha because only one of them can be aloof and mysterious. she later finds out that luocha is actually a pretty skilled tickler too when he wants to be and she has to put a lot more effort into these things than initially expected

What does your spidersona’s suit look like? What kind of spider were they bitten by? Do they have a mentor? An uncle Ben? A Gwen Stacy? An MJ?
Oh this is fun!
Weaver's suit: Their suit incorporates the silhouette and several elements of men's late 1910's/early 1920's fashion. They wear an absolutely bitchin' black overcoat and a wide-brimmed black hat over a black-and-white spider-suit. The outfit incorporates a tie, because they think it's funny. What kind of spider they were bitten by: Oh boy, okay, um, so, see, there's a lot of glass involved in this and you kind of just have to read the canon backstory to get what I'm talking about. Warning for A Lot of Blood.
Do they have a mentor?: Weaver and Noir bonded over being Spiders from perpetually-bleak, horror-inspired universes who were both chosen by some kind of eldritch abomination for reasons somewhat or completely unknown to them. Another one of her mentors is her universe's Scorpion/Mac Gargan, after he stops trying to kill her and all. Weaver has two dads.
Uncle Ben, Gwen Stacy, and MJ: So Weaver is anomalous; their Peter Parker, Petachja "Peter" Parnicki, was a Polish scientist whom she accidentally "saved" from being bitten by the supernatural horror-spider who later got to Weaver in an entirely different way. They never met Dr. Parnicki's uncle, but they sent him a letter apologizing for Peter's death and passing on his final message. Mary Jane Watson died in the same incident that Peter did in Weaver's canon backstory. Like I said, BLEAK. Except Gwen, who probably ended up having the best backstory. She and Weaver were briefly a Secret Lesbian Couple (it was the the late 1910's, so it very much had to be secret) at a boarding school. After they parted ways, Gwen lived a long life and died of natural causes in 1989.

Not sure if this still is going, or if this has been done, but could you have authors note/behind the scenes thinking on False's chapter from Built Family?
HI EP!!! Ignore that you sent this a long, long, long time ago it's fine I'm slow I know--
Yes, it's still going, and yes. I can do False's chapter(s).
Once again, to anyone who wants to read the chapter:
There you go. Now, on to the breakdown!
False's chapter, I knew from the start, was going to be long. Previous Hermits had gotten a bit of backstory, but not to the extent that False did. We didn't see Xisuma's people wiped out. We didn't see Joe's full rampage as Herobrine. We didn't see Mumbo's full work at Protech. Heck, we didn't even see Cle's server get wiped out by Protech. But the Watcher's wiping out False's server felt too important to just summarize or have happen off screen.
I had a few ideas for False, but I knew I wanted her to be a fighter.
I was originally going to have False and her Mom be a survival duo. Single Mom and her assassin daughter against the entire server. And while I enjoyed the idea, I decided against it. Not sure why but the adoptive fathers' angle just fit better with the vibe I wanted to do with False.
On a note of False's Dads, I would like to clarify: Sym and Gerrick were not romantically involved with each other in any way. Gerrick was his right-hand man, but Sym is ace in my head. Both see False as their adoptive daughter and are co-parenting but not romantically involved.
False had probably the most rushed introduction, but then had this really long, "Oh no, everyone is getting killed by winged demon/eldritch horrors" and, I'll be completely honest: that was not my intention at the start. I knew I wanted to show at least part of the server's destruction, but it just. Kept. Going.
I wanted people to hate the Watchers. I wanted to address the "some writers have the Watchers as redeemable/some of them are good or at the very least, redeemable." This version of the Watchers: Not redeemable. Yeah, we know they did something bad to Xisuma and Void but it's very vague as what exactly happened to them. I wanted to paint a very clear picture of: "These people are bad and 100% deserve what X is about to bring upon them."
I wanted to show that Watchers are not invincible, but it is very hard to actually kill them. Honestly, the only reason these players were able to kill as many Watchers as they did was because they have been fighting for years. In False's case, her entire life. These are professional killers and most of them were wiped out by five of these things. The only reason any of them survived was because Xisuma and company showed up.
It was at that point that I knew I had to split the chapter into two, partially because of how long it was and partially because the moment
False staying on the server wasn't really planned either. But, I quickly realized that, at that moment, she was grieving. She had accepted that she was going to die. The two people who cared about her the most were dead and she was going to follow them. But now, she wasn't dead. And she wasn't sure what to do.
Xisuma was the only person who could reach out to her (Cleo could have done it as well but seeing as she wasn't there at the moment--) and understand what it was like to lose everything you cared about.
Originally, I wanted to show more of the "hubs between worlds" but I didn't have time for it. I debated if False needed new clothes, but determined that she would have had more militaristic gear, not her Minecraft skin. The coat being both Sym's sniper and a piece of clothing was a last minute addition, but I didn't want False walking around with a sniper for a few reasons.
The main one being that I didn't feel like she would heal with it because she' never take it off, keeping her in the anarchy mindset. A knife is fine, because it is small, easy to forget. A sniper? Not so much.
Miscommunication! Not just the only form of drama for rom-coms, but also between friends and family, lol. I knew False would never have the courage to ask to stay. She had to wait for an invite.
... Which the Hermits forgot to give. A common mistake in their earlier days, but they get better.
I can't think of anything else but this note turned out a lot like False's arc.
Long.

what is slenderman like in it
I'M GLAD YOU ASKED- Here comes the boiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii So, I already drew him but almost no one saw it
Tumblr media
His name is Oakley Simon Woods, born June 9th, 1971. HE IS A FUCKING CINNAMON ROLL. WHO WILL KILL YOU. *A NUCLEAR CINNAMON ROLL.* Oakley's Backstory (CW: Everything. Seriously, his childhood was SO BAD) Basically, tl;dr: Oakley had a father named Jamie (aka Der Grossmann/The Morley Man). Jamie was a SUPREME asshole. And also a murderer, racist, homophobic/transphobic, abusive, and also... err, a little-kid enjoyer. (We hate Jamie in this household) Oakley's mother was Veronica Morley, a severely autistic/intellectually disabled 19 year old (who had the mental capacity of an ELEVEN year old. See where this is going?) Jamie viewed himself and his species (Ochroteids, aka Slenderbeings) as being superior to humankind. He viewed humans as slaves, food, and... err, incubation chambers (YOU CAN SEE WHERE THIS IS GOING) Jamie was a direct descendant of the ancient Ochroteid god Gorr'Rylaehotep, who was himself descended from the Iris. (to make a long story short, I decided Gemini Home Entertainment is a Slenderverse series because Morley Grove exists) So, since Jamie viewed himself as basically a "demigod" of sorts, he was an egotistical little motherfucker. And he wanted a son (because he's a mysogynist.) And then he came across Veronica, yada yada, look, just go on AO3 and read this bitch (TW: EVERYTHING) Oakley is not okay, HELP HIM. Yea, so Oakley is an omniromantic-pansexual, genderqueer, intersex person. Who uses any and all pronouns (They're such a good eldritch horror I love them so much) Oakley's personality can be summed up like this. Oakley: *sees any hot person* HELP *experiences pan panic* Any member of the Order: OUR LORD- Oakley: OH GOD FUCK YOU *snaps their neck*
HABIT: *steals Firebrand* Oakley: NO! MY SENPAI :( Oakley: *aggressively grabs Tim* WHY ARE YOU SO CUTE Tim: I am going to fucking stab you. Oakley, carrying a Nature's Mockery: LOOK! IS BABY! HABIT, disgusted: Oakley that is an eldritch abomination Oakley: NO. IS BABY.
Oakley: You touch my proxies, YOU FUCKING DIE. You make my proxies cry? YOU FUCKING DIE. Zalgo: Pfft, you're not a threat- Oakley: *Kills five thousand demons with his mind* Zalgo: WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK-
Fangirls: OHMYGODITSSLENDERMANHISLENDERMANHAVEMYBABIES Oakley: I WILL rip you in half.
Alex: *exists* Oakley: *blows up mind with mind* Alex: MY FUCKING MIND-
Oakley: *unplugs the wifi* BAD GERMANS DO NOT GET ANY WIFI. Sebastian: NEIN! Nicht meine Tentakel-Hentai! NEIN! Oakley, who is fluent in German: YOUR WHAT- *staring at each other* Oakley: *gives him the look* Sebastian: Sebastian: Weißt du was? Vergiss mein Tentakel-Hentai.
Oakley @ half of his proxies: You're submissive and breedable? Same tbh You get the idea. Sometimes he's stabby stabby, sometimes he's awwwww sometimes he needs to go to horni jail

Me: I am going to write Kid Luke with Ahsoka
Me: No wait, I gotta make up a whole backstory, good parent Anakin who never falls AU
Me: Now, of course, I need to write about Anakin, Padme, and Obi-Wan having twins, followed by twin content and their parents-
Me: Oh, but I like to imagine what the Force being literally half of Anakin’s DNA means, so maybe I’ll write that into this au
Me: But it would be very fun to explore longsuffering Owen and optimistic Beru raising Eldritch horror abomination Luke, so I have to write that
Me: (and I have to add more Obi-Wan because that man needs joy and I will provide it for him)
Me: I am once again thinking about how to get rid of Palpatine in my Anakin-stay-at-home-dad story and, honestly, I think it would be fun if Luke scares him at age fourteen by being far too connected to the Force and the Force basically telling Palpatine to back away from its son, or else
Me: Luke could and should kill Palpatine (like Legends’ kinda had him do) but it won’t work there and I also think Supreme Galactic Ruler of the Known Universe Luke “Five-Years-Old And Growing” Skywalker is a really funny combo so I’m going to write that
Me: I need Luke to be Supreme Galactic Ruler of the Known Galaxy and I’d like for his advisors to include his aunt, his uncle, his old man uncle, his sister, his sister’s parents, and an astromech droid. Anakin is obviously Captain of Luke’s guard, but I also think that Luke should have really weirdly overly controlling galactic policies. Like, yes, he raised everyone’s pay, but he does so by making it so the only one who decides how much the galactic money is worth is him, and anyone who goes against his ruling shall be punished. Yes, he abolished slavery, but he did so by inadvertently blowing up slavers and feeding the others to the now-free Sarlacc. Yes, he is kind and gracious, but he also gets whiny if he doesn’t get to go flying for a few days. Supreme Ruler Luke also definitely doesn’t understand why duels to the death are bad and he actively encourages them over petty squabbles. People think it’s so that his subjects are forced to rethink what problems they bring to his attention, but it’s actually because he saw a lot of disputes settled between beetles by one beetle eating the other one, and most of his political moves are based on beetles, and no one has quite managed to convince him to base his supreme rule on something else
Me: Also, I should keep writing the one where Luke just kind of acts like a cat

Y'all I'm gonna be real I just want eldritch horror c!BBH back, my guy led his own lore and suffered for it 😂 Knowing what Bad can do with his characters just makes the anticipation so much worse, but I believe in us!! One day the moment will be right and it will be his time! I feel like maybe Quackity was trying to give Bad his moment there (though I know he wants to get every egg just in general), it was just poorly timed as previously stated.
the beauty of it is that we may mourn and be impatient but we know cc!bad's got his lil special dnd homebrew with his demon backstory and all. we WILL get crazy lore moments and amazing backstory drops and the reveal of how he sunk atlantis. its just oh god uni is starting soon i have a four hour lab bad please

gonna make an elaborate post about darkest dungeon au because Maura enabled me and im kinda losing my mind over it
obligatory tag because i believe you will enjoy this @baura-bear
so first of all, i think the Ancestor would definitely be pulitzer. he would totally spend all of his fortune on excavating some eldritch horrors and curse his entire village in the process, and his last heir (so the one who gets his letter asking for help) would be none other than katherine, and so she fills the "player" role (manages the town, sends out the expeditions, etc.) not only because she is related to pulitzer but because she seems like a good person for that, she's smart and calm and while the first few expeditions were probably chaos she quickly got a grasp on how to manage things (by listening to the recruits' reports and reading old man pulitzer's dairies from when his excavations were still in full force)
and the people she hires are obviously the newsboys who i imagine would be certain character classes (obviously some classes would appear more than once considering the sheer amount of newsboys). and i really don't know who *all* of them would be but off the top of my head: jack would be a highwayman (or a bounty hunter now that i think about it)--the premise stays the same, he mostly works for his own profit and isn't completely trusted by any of his peers, but is still respected for his skill; dave would be a musketeer, kind of a lone wolf, confident in his skills, maybe even arrogant; crutchy would be a jester, lifting everyone's spirits with his jokes and ballads, but also packing a punch and having a tragic side to him; blink would be a man-at-arms and i'm not saying this because he has an eyepatch. he would be highly skilled and have plenty experience but would also be very intimidating, maybe even feared; skittery would be the antiquarian, obviously skittish and ever so careful, always somehow dodging even the mightiest and sudden attacks; spot would be a leper or an abomination, feared but oh so strong and respected; racetrack would be a grave robber, doing dirty work but being good at it, universal on the battlefield, tricky, and with grave (ha) humor; specs would be a plague doctor, fascinated by all atrocities and cadavers he stumbles upon, academically smart and able to make even the strongest of foes fall; and if i come up with anything else i will surely add it here
and the expeditions are always hectic at first, because most of the recruits (if not all) have shady backstories and don't completely trust each other. sometimes it's better, sometimes it's worse--i think spot and crutchy and race would get along perfectly, both crutchy and race being fearless, so much so that spot wouldn't intimidate them, and they would make the perfect combo, crutchy playing his ballads and boosting them, race chipping away at backline enemies, and spot shredding through the frontlines. and also just imagine the potential of their quests together--spot, quiet and serious and maybe even sad (it ain't easy being a leper/an abomination that much is sure) and behind him, race and crutchy exchanging jokes, and eventually they make spot snort or chuckle too (and they take great pride in this!) other great teams would be, i think, skittery+specs+blink. blink, brave and fearsome, shielding both specs and skittery, while they help him tremendously from behind. and also skittery bickering with specs at all times (specs inspecting an old, probably cursed artifact or looking at a dead enemy and being like "oh that's great" and skittery behind him giving him a dirty look and commenting "that's disgusting. you're disgusting")
and let's be real, i wouldn't be myself if i didn't mention javid. they totally got off the wrong foot. when katherine assigned them to a quest together, they started whining and complaining and asking her if they really have to go with him? and of course they have to, because katherine doesn't have time for childish superstitions about one another. but jack and david are still at each others' throats. "oh, this guy's just great, i can't wait until we're all sleeping by the campfire and he just steals our things and ditches us, or better yet, chops our heads off!" david exclaims, waving his hands around and rolling his eyes as always. "well look at you, goody two shoes musketeer, i bet you can't even shoot straight with that silly weapon of yours!" jack answers, already fed up with david's demeanor. as they go on the quest (with some other 2 poor souls who have to survive their endless quarrels), they can't help but feel weirdly drawn to each other and protective. jack, with his skillful eye and shaprened instincts from the years of hardships, immediately spots a trap that david is about to step in. and, normally, he would just watch and laugh, but for whatever reason, he places a firm hand on david's chest instead and stops him in his tracks. "watch your step, fool," he says, playing it off as one-upping dave. and david just scoffs, not admitting his (almost) mis-step, but he feels his heart flutter, but he tells himself it's just the adrenaline of almost stepping on a trap and getting his foot penetrated by a rusty spike. then, david returns the favor--as he sees an enemy getting ready to shoot at jack from afar while he's focused on another foe, and david immediately shoots, it's precise and pin-point perfect and almost mechanical with how familiar he is with his trusty weapon. "never turn your back to those things," david warns sardonically, though he can't deny he was scared for a second there that jack would get badly injured or, god forbid, die. and jack, though he doesn't say anything, feels warmth from his very core, because someone--no, not just someone, dave--saved his life. and this happens over and over, each quest they go on, and they even spend time together at the village, drinking together or playing cards together and stealing longing glances, even if they wouldn't admit it. and one time, when they're on another expedition, and it's so long that they have to make a campsite for the night, david notices that jack has a deep wound. wordlessly, he scoots over and with whatever bandages he has leftover, and he tends to the injury, avoiding jack's tender gaze, because no one's ever done that before for him. and by the time david is done, having carefully cleaned and bandaged the wound, jack said a shy "thanks." and david, instead of a snarky remark or ignoring jack altogether, nodded and smiled and said "you have to be more careful." and it wasn't smart-assy as usual, it was warm and quiet and almost intimate. and that night they slept way closer to each other than before. and they felt way safer than before, too

does rhidian have a tragic backstory?
oh my god yeah man, here's the gist bestie (oops this turned into a full-on backstory let's go):
Many many years ago, there was a scholar; a wizard, a scribe, one who searched for knowledge within a library. And knowledge he found, but the problem is this: Whether it be eldritch horrors or things that Vecna the Lich-God simply doesn't want people to discover, there are things known that shouldn't be discovered.
And so, when it is discovered, there is a curse.
The scholar was turned into a Nothic, a wretched thing with a giant unblinking eye that resembled Vecna's, spikes protruding from its crooked body. As with all Nothics, the scholar lost all memories of its past life, including the knowledge that it ever had one. It was doomed to wander the sprawling shelves with an unending hunger for secrets urged on by instinct, or perhaps the curse, to discover/gather magical items and any kind of knowledge it could get its claws on. It didn't help that its memory was horrible, or that its mind was wracked with madness.
It bargained with others for secrets when needed, hiding behind shelves and in the dark as the rare group of adventurers started to enter this new dungeon; drawing secrets from their minds with its accursed eye. It was a coward; it wasn't the best at fighting, and preferred to run.
At some point, when going through the many tomes, the Nothic stumbled upon one that held a ghost bound within its pages. Her name was Novel; a surprisingly fitting name, but she informed the aberration she had chosen it for herself long before her throat had been sliced open- it's just that she had never quite told anyone. She asked for its name, and it realized it didn't have one. "...You can call me Rhidian," he said, for it was the first name that came to mind. With this newfound companion, he had realized he had been very lonely. So Rhidian carried her around everywhere in fear of losing and forgetting her, and she helped him remember things, and they swapped stories and secrets, and perhaps fell in love. He promised Novel to one day help bring her back to life; not only so they could finally hold hands and do things that people do, but also so she could finally have the body she was never able to have before she died (this freak is a trans ally we love him for that).
Rhidian eventually stumbled upon a tome about a ritual, and finally realized that, subconsciously, with he search for knowledge and magical items, he had been searching for a way to turn back- and by the Gods, he had been a person once.
The former scholar set to work on the ritual, but it didn't quite succeed- his body was still crooked, with small spikes emerging from his shoulders and dark leathery patches splotched across his skin. Fangs, discolored fingertips, and Gods- one half of his face was still reminiscent of being a Nothic: the leathered flesh was more prominent here, with a giant unblinking eye resting in the socket. It didn't work. He wasn't perfect.
And he still didn't remember who he used to be. He knows he wasn't always like this; this crooked thing that repeated words and broke out into laughter at inopportune times, with an unsettling air and an unending curiosity that would be surely be its downfall once again.
But there was something new; a calling. Something in the back of his mind urging him to head somewhere.
So the wizard held Novel closer to his chest, hid his horrible eye behind his salt-and-pepper hair, and for the first time in ages, stumbled out of the archives.
There were three goals in his mind: 1) Find out why he was being called somewhere. 2) Find out who he was. 3) Find a way for himself (and Novel) to become perfect (and with Novel, he'd even steal someone else's body for her to use).
He very greatly dislikes mirrors, since those remind him that he failed. He balances between embracing his odd personality and actively hating himself, and pretty much completely falls apart if Novel is taken from him (a combination of being terrified of forgetting her and also being alone); This happened, actually, and he's angry at himself that he was too much of a coward to try and attack the guy who took/threatened her (don't worry, she was given back to him [the guy didn't even know she was a sentient book]).
He's definitely got an obsession with secrets, as well as keeping things fair and even; he aims to get revenge on the man who took and threatened Novel, and isn't above blackmailing people with the secrets he gleams from their minds.
He's not a good person, he's an absolute freak and is the sketchiest motherfucker out there, and i love him sm

ive been playing a shit ton of darkest dungeon lately and here's my opinion on which black butler characters would be which class!!
darkest dungeon is really cool btw!! it kind of has the same elements of black butler (fucked up protag, supernatural creatures, mental health being explored in a neat way, and the running theme of everyone being the absolute worst besides like two or three people!). i really recommend it if you love sadistic video games with eldritch horrors!!
under da tag bc i dont shut up
ciel: ngl. he's the one that gets fucked over by the ancestor and has to build teams to kill eldritch horrors. which is what i thought at first
but...
after thinking, he should be houndmaster and instead of a dog, it's just sebastian, pouting. /j
sebastian: BUT SERIOUSLY- for sebby, i'd like to think maaaybe occultist? there really isn't any classes close to a demon so someone who can summon eldritch horrors to fight other eldritch horrors seems like it'd make sense.
mey rin: musketeer. obvi. she go pew pew!! and also has the WORST ACCURACY IN THE WORLD- (this is personal salt, let me live. been so close to having party wipes)
bard: honestly. highwayman. he has one(1) attack that could count as an explosive. also they kinda have the same haircut!! i think it fits also theres no real explosives in the base game sadly. UNLESS you wanna talk enemies- then there's brigand vvulf who blows things the fuck up because he can! i think that fits him too! kind of!! since brigand is kind of a massive asshole.
finny: OH GOD,,, i had a toughie with this one buuuut- im probably going to go with bounty hunter or leper because of finny's SHEER strength. he's just busted man and you can beat the entire game with leper sooooo yeah! the mean part of me wanted to say abomination but again, thats mean but it's extremely wild to me that they pretty much have the same Tragic Backstory of experimented on for the lols and now just have to deal with it. at least finny got the better end of the stick! poor abomination...
now the reapers! (in order of appearance)
grelle: hellion! she is the biggest girlboss in the game so ofc she'd fit grelle, come on now. the hellion class is extremely broken powerful and puts out an insane amount of damage! a part of me wants to argue grave robber but it doesn't have a lot of flashy and powerful moves- this is mainly considering grelle is the 3rd strongest character in the series iirc.
william: OH ANOTHER HARD ONE- but i think he'd fit being a shieldbreaker! it's a bit of a stretch but hear me out- it's mainly the weapon and it's capabilities that would make william fit the class the most!! also her defensive end seeing as william being pretty good at Not Getting His Shit Wrecked or at least as badly (book of circus is def something i needa rewatch)
undertaker: oh this bitch. i'm probably going to go with the prophet boss! the prophet defied the ancestor by speaking facts and wouldn't die no matter what the ancestor did, kind of like how taker is with the dispatch. also the fact they're both blind but hit like a fucking truck fits!!
ronald: my BOY! now HE'D be grave robber!! he's not really too strong and kinda squishy but can still be formidable if not taken seriously. also the mental image of him hitting an undead with a pickaxe to the face is funny to me-
eric: either highwayman or man-at-arms! both classes are good at taking out a lot of enemies at once and eric is pretty good at killing people <3
alan: OUGH another hard one- i think character wise (more than attack wise), he'd def fit the leper. the leper goes through it and so does alan yet they still kick ass and get the job done!
othello: this dummy! i think antiquarian would fit! antiquarians are support heroes 100% and then they hit like a truck...! a toy truck...! a toy truck that's a stuffie...! unless you get a hit off with "nervous stab" but it's not really all that worth it. OH and the move "protect me" that's pretty much the same as othello using grelle as a meat shield fits.

Here, have some random, unasked for information about my (many) original stories :D
(Little note, my stories’ universe has seventeen different realms, so, if some stories have this -x- in-between them, just know that means they take place in a different realm)
The First Realm - main story, all others (technically) branched off it, has been in development for around six years and oh gods. If you looked at the original draft and how it is now, you would be so surprised that it’s the same thing. It is intensely complicated and even I, the one who created the thing, struggle to understand parts of it.
Legends of the Rose - connecting story to The First Realm, technically a prequel, giving backstory to certain events that are either mentioned or referenced during The First Realm, such as how the kingdoms came to be, what led to Fei (another name for the First Realm) becoming what it is now and also showing the founding of the Three Central Councils, plus much more.
Guardians of the Rose - connecting story to both The First Realm and Legends of the Rose, focusing entirely on the people known as the Guardians of the Rose, or just the Guardians for short. Takes place around the same time as all the stories from Legends of the Rose, showing the rise, reign and fall of the First Guardians.
-x-
Rain Showers - side story, one of the least developed, yet one of the oldest, around three years. Takes place in a different realm. Has a basic idea, plot, ending, and outline, yet the characters aren’t the best. Redesign season has long since passed, but is due to come back. Same with character rewriting. Has a sequel called Sun Showers, which takes place a year and a half later.
-x-
Friend - side/independent story, more developed than Rain Showers, not as much as Guardians of the Rose. Takes place in a completely different realm than both of those stories. Redesigned the main cast (five characters) a month or so ago. It was literally created because of a small scrap of paper taped on the bathroom wall that had ‘fren’ written on it. It is now one of my most treasured stories.
Running From CPS Is Harder Than It Seems - side/independent story, around the same amount of development as Rain Showers. Might take place in the same realm as Friend, might take place in a completely different one. Probably the former as the two realms are very similar and it seems like a waste.
-x-
Now the complicated ones. The following stories take place in the same realm, just at different times (it will be in chronological order). The realm is known as Mynxia, which isn’t exactly relevant but still.
The Veiled Lady of the Empire’s Court - connecting story, not that old, but not that long either. Only been around a few months since its creation. Focuses on an old legend of one of the monarchies in Mynxia, the Azalea Empire. The Veiled Lady was originally meant to be some kind of defender to the Empire, she is now more of an eldritch being that has many horror stories surrounding her. She is very real, however.
The Eternal Knight of Ancient Hollydale - connecting story, also not that old, also not that long. Created mere days ago, alongside the Veiled Lady’s new role/backstory. Hollydale is another monarchy of Mynxia, led (at the time of the story) by Countess Korra. The Eternal Knight, much like the Veiled Lady, is a kind of legend, less of a horror story, although it is somewhat horrific, and more of an example of humanity's greed, and the eventual consequences.
These next stories take place centuries later:
Along the Azalea - connecting story, no underlying plot, mostly just focusing on the relationships of the main characters (Kristen (although she is referred to as Kris during this), Time (but he is known as Mask), Krisi, Khan, Therios, and occasionally Jayne). Kristen, Krisi, Time, and Jayne are around ten to seventeen during this as it slowly moves through the years.
Witness the Wreckage - connecting story, definitely has plot, so much plot. The most gruesome story of all of these (by all of these, I mean all of these, even the stories from before). Takes place at least five years after Along the Azalea during the Abyssal War, which involved the Abyss Empire and the Azalea Empire. Many characters are vital to the plot, but the most important are Kristen, Time, Krisi, and occasionally Jayne. The Veiled Lady and the Eternal Knight are also involved, just not in the way you may think.
Weight of the World - connecting story to Witness the Wreckage, takes place around almost a year after the end of the war. Focuses on everyone trying to recover and move past all the trauma they were subjected to. Also some of them struggling to deal with their new situation left from severe injuries that they received during the war.
Ode to Fallen’s Requiem - technical main story, takes place a decade after Weight of the World. Kristen has adopted two children who she found on the side of the road (Ethan and Becca), Krisi is a lawyer in another realm (do not ask for context), Time is doing whatever, still working on that, Jayne is a doctor (and also an aunt), and that’s all I’ll say about this. It’s mostly just a lot of funny stuff and shenanigans with bits of angst/plot.
Kingdoms of Mynexia - side story to the end, completely different cast of five characters and mostly focuses on the other monarchies. Kind of an excuse to just world-build and stuff while also giving more backstory to the monarchies and their respective rulers. Such as Countess Kirin and how she became the monarch of Hollydale at such a young age, or Archidux January and how he maintained Stonehenge while also dealing with the loss of both his mother and best friend. There is also an underlying plot which leads to almost all the monarchies being overthrown.
Well, that’s it. I’ll probably write down some backstories later. Like for the Veiled Lady and the Eternal Knight. Archidux January maybe. Or some other character I haven’t mentioned. I don’t know. I don’t even know if someone’s reading this.

~Peer into the Future...~
-And you might not like what you find...~-
(The following IC drabble will contain a few trigger warnings specifically just pertaining to cosmic horror and just a pinch of blood, but nothing massive. However, for the sake of others and reading lenght? A read-more will be utilized.
This actually came to me during a conversation with a friend. Also it's just a small peek into Salem's backstory, and boy, is there sure a lot of trauma. :D Religious trauma, specifically.)
"My friend, do you know why i despise the end of July? Why i would sooner shun others for one mere day than enjoy it like everyone else?"
Vieri hummed, pondering the words of the dark-haired gothic man sitting across from him in the wooden, glossy chair sitting across from him. The man only swirled his Cabernet Sauvignon two passes, before taking a sip.
"I...cannot say i do, mon ami. Go forth. Tell me. You know that i will not be of any judgement to you, homme des ombres. You already know of my...deplorable, sinful state."
"Hm...very well. You are...aware of the date...are you not? Actually...pardon that, i KNOW you are...", Salem trailed of with a dry laugh, "St. Ignatius day was...and is a day that will...we'll say, live in infamy for me."
Now, his curiosity was piqued. Now, for as much as Vieri himself was no fan of the day (hell, most hunters actively hunted him out, for it was the only day out of the year where you could kill a Strigoi), it made him truly wonder just what had happened that Salem abhorred the day with seemingly every fiber of his being.
He had asked Salem about it multiple times, but the man had never delved into detail...
"Oh...and...how would that be...? You’ve mentioned it time and time before; while i am not one to judge nor question, for it is none of my business…but that doesn’t stop this old man from having a nuance of curiosity as to why that is…”
“Because…before being taken up within the arms of The Sleeper of R’lyeh, as Pryderi Caius…it was the day of my second Christening. It is a day that I'll never forget…but it showed me that even the most fanatic of zealots have an ounce of normalcy to them…it made the 4 year-old child that was me at the time envy the children who had parents who were firm within their faith and we were not…them.”
At this, Vieri was silent, trying to process the information he had received as much as he could. He only knew snippets of Salem's life before becoming who he was. Needless to say, it left him grateful that he didn't ever cross their path. From racism to the blatant acts of physical abuse and psychological torment, all in the name of the Lord.
Needless to say, Vieri found it understandable why Salem turned to the life he'd chosen, even if he really didn't give all that much of a damn about religion. What was most important for Vieri was that Salem had found something to believe in, something that gave his life purpose and direction.
"Hm...and here, i just thought it was due to it being a holy day, and with your...affinity: i only presumed it was a natural dislike. Like walking upon church grounds and instantly dropping into a seizure..."
This earned a snort from Salem, as if that was meant to be amusing.
"Perhaps so, old friend...but only partially. Even though it's celebrated by both the Church and the Jesuits, the majority of...holy holidays and artifacts don't agree with me. No, the reasoning is far...more personal than just a dislike of being eldritch. That would be like me saying you cannot eat garlic because of the taste."
At this, Vieri gagged quietly. It was common in vampires for there to be a distinct aversion of garlic, be that bulbs, flowers, or even the juice. It was roughly similar, if not on par, to being allergic to it. The smell caused a nauseating feeling in the pit of Vieri's stomach. While he'd never been unfortunate enough to eat it...he was certain that it would result in death or wishing he was.
"Eugh...if only it was just the taste...oh, if only...", he quietly lamented. "But...those who raised you...they are...gone...are they not?"
"Ils sont. Ils le sont depuis un certain temps..." (They are. They have been for some time now...)
Salem responded in French, which was always more than enough to make Vieri smile. He knew the other could speak the language fluently, so it made conversations more personal.
"Je vois...jusqu'en Enfer, où ils appartiennent…” (I see…right to Hell, where they belong…)
Vieri took a swig of his wine, before letting out a soft chuckle. “La pure ironie de tout cela~”, he leaned back in his seat with a sigh, “They believed so firmly in their God that instead of it being their key into the Pearly Gates, all it did was grant them their key to the Gates of Hell. Alighieri was certain of one thing, my friend…abandon all hope, ye who enter~”
The night was peaceful and still. The only sound that could be heard was the soft murmur of Vieri and Salem's conversation as they sat in the courtyard, surrounded by the low light of lanterns and the smell of wine. The two reminisced about the past and talked of their shared experiences. Vieri listened intently as Salem recounted the story of his upbringing and how his parents' strong beliefs had led them to a tragic end.
A tragic end at his hands, no doubt…
“Hm…i don’t suppose you could humor me with a fortune, would you?”
At this, Vieri froze, unsure if he’d even heard Salem correctly.
Humor him with a what?
It was known by everyone that the infernal and the eldritch couldn’t have a fortune told, for their futures were just as clouded in mystery. Especially that of the eldritch, for to do so was almost impossible…or so he thought one day. For, on that day, he’d gained insight from a being whose voice he was unfamiliar with, and he was aware of plenty of voices that ran through his head when the subject of a fortune-telling came into play. But that day, it was a female voice whom he’d never communed with once. It was beautiful, sweet, but so, so foreign to him. She had told him that Ashur Ortega, the unwilling and unknowing vessel to the King in Yellow, had a chance of possibly being released from the eldritch God’s unholy grasp, but under one condition…that the day that he learned about the world that lay beyond the natural one, and the day he peered into the supernatural, would also be the day that he died.
At this revelation, Vieri paled, feeling sick even upon explaining what he’d just been told.
It also earned him an epithet. Or several, in fact.
The Strigoi Seer.
The Vampiric Prophet.
Veil-Piercing One.
A string of them all came to mind when Vieri gave this revelation.
While he knew it wasn’t impossible, something in him said it would be a terrible idea. But, he was confident that possibly could. After all, if the Gods could possibly grant him that foresight, then who was to say that maybe it wouldn’t have been far off with Salem?
A lopsided smile followed a somewhat uncertain gaze. “I…I suppose i could try, if that is what you’d like. Though…i must ask if you are sure you wish to go through with it, vieil ami…”
“Do as you must, but know that—”
“Wonderful. Suis-moi, Suis-moi~”
With a languid gesture of the hand, Vieri led Salem along into the backroom where he told his fortune and gave readings where he could have quiet. It was filled with mystic artifacts, like a crystal ball and tarot cards, that gave off an eerie glow from the light of the candles scattered around the room. The walls were adorned with tapestries depicting strange creatures and symbols, and the air smelled of incense and herbs.
Salem had only been back there a handful of times, but he’d never had the honor of actually sitting down in that seat. Vieri felt a mix of fear and excitement as he entered the backroom, the strange artifacts and symbols making him feel a sense of awe and mystery.
He was both nervous and curious about what the fortune-telling would bring, feeling a slight chill in the air as he glanced around the room.
“Have a seat, please. Make yourself comfortable…and let’s begin.”
With that, the other sat down and Vieri sat at the chair across from Salem. Because the table wasn’t too big, he could easily reach out for his hands, which were neatly folded on top with fingers intertwined. Upon first touch, Vieri noted the crackle of ancient, long-forgotten magic and energy sizzling through Salem’s pallid skin. It was an unfamiliar feeling, and it filled him with an apprehension and unease. The air seemed to crackle with a power and intensity that could only be described as otherworldly, and the symbols and artifacts in the room seemed to take on a more sinister aspect in the presence of this dark energy.
He closed his eyes, and began to focus on the vision attempting form behind his eyes. It started small, like muddled colors and blurry shadows…but then those shadows dissipated to a trio of blazing, goldenrod eyes staring back at him. At first, Vieri was intrigued, and it showed in real life as well by a small crinkle of the brows.
Why did those eyes seem so familiar to him…?
They all blinked back at him a few times, as if curious as to what he was doing there. It was as if Vieri had walked into a room with someone inside, and instead of being met with hostility, was met with more questioning.
It wasn’t until a deep, bassy, and accented voice pierced his mind that Vieri realized just who he was looking at.
-...Didn’t your mother ever teach you that it’s quite rude to stare? Much less go through things that were NEVER YOURS?-
The final two words boomed throughout Vieri’s skull like a clap of thunder, and as if the eldritch God were lightly lashing out at Vieri for his peeping, a tumultuous ‘POP!’ echoed through the room and a force pushed the two back from the other, meant to separate the both of them.
Salem grunted, surprised by this, but watched as Vieri let out a quiet, low yelp of pain. The man and his chair skidded back half a foot from the table, before stopping suddenly, leaving Vieri completely doubled over with his head in his hands.  Salem held his ground, unmoving. He had not expected this reaction, but the force that had pushed them apart had been undeniable.
Vieri's loud cry of pain, however, was enough to make Salem's heart clench in fear and regret.
He quickly stood to his feet, and ran over to Vieri to inspect him. What he found of the vampiric man was enough to stir a slight panic within him.
Vieri was in immense pain, clutching his head as if a headache was consuming him. He felt dizzy and disoriented, as if he were spinning out of control. However, the final piece to top it all off was the trickling of blood from the nose—which only further implied that Cthulhu had something to do in all this.
He tipped his head back in his hands to survey the damage, and in doing so, Salem’s eyes darkened the more and more he looked into Vieri’s face. There was immense guilt for what he’d done to the other man, and it made him wish he could take it back or that he’d have made him reconsider what he was doing.
Vieri's eyes were wide with alarm and pain. They were glassy and filled with tears, and his pupils were dilated from the shock of the experience. However, he didn’t react to what Salem was doing, no matter how his body screamed at him to do so.
“Wrth gwrs, byddai'n gwneud hyn. Wrth gwrs gwaedlyd. Pam nad ydw i'n synnu...?” (Of course, he would do this. Of bloody course. Why am I not surprised...?)
A murmur of soft Welsh, and a sigh soon followed. “I was…I was merely joking, my friend. You didn’t need to do that…”
An airy, breathless laugh left Vieri, which both unnerved and relieved Salem in a way he couldn’t explain. Maybe it was because Vieri was resilient as all hell, and in a way, he both commended the man and thought him insane in the same breath. Either way, it was a sign that he was likely going to be ok.
“Always a first for everything, mon ami…if i could so with Monsieur Ortega…why not you…?”
Ah.
The King in Yellow’s vessel. The one who was so sweet, yet so very oblivious to what was going on around him. While Salem didn’t hate Ash as a person, he despised the Eldritch God that lurked within him, using the man as a human flesh puppet. Salem crinkled his brows and tilted his head to the side, running his thumb along Vieri’s jaw in thought.
“Be that as it may…and how you could even possibly do that, even to this day, eludes me. Nevertheless…you’re hurt AND you’re bleeding. Come now…up, up. Nice and easy…i’ll have Lytrosi close the shop for the night, and i’m taking you home. NOW.”
Salem gently helped Vieri up to his feet, supporting him as he stood. He was careful to hold him steady, guiding Vieri's arm around his shoulder to help him walk. The other swayed and clung to Salem for dear life, for fear of losing his legs in the process, for the last thing he wanted was to either fall or, even worse, faint.
But, he trusted that if it came down to it: he would likely be fine under Salem’s watchful eye…

For the videogame ask game 5, 7, 9, 11 :D
5: Game(s) coming out that you’re looking forward to
Hmmmm I guess the next Dark Pictures game, because I really like Supermassive, and I’m enjoying the series! Someday they’ll make another main series Fallout game, and I’ll be excited for that. I’m excited for the new Spider-Man determinately—not playing until I hear if they did right by Harry Osborn, because he’s a blorbo of all time, but if so, I will be over the moon. Wolf Among Us 2, like most people, and I’ve heard if it succeeds, Batman the Telltale series season 3 will be next and I desperately need to help John and Harvey and see what happens, so that too.
7: A series you’ve lost interest in
Right now I’d have to say Dragon Age, if this question means in a moving forward way? Like I still Adore Origings through 2, but DAI was so fucking horrible in a lot of the pulls they made that I have -200 interest in Dread Wolf or any new DA game unless the devs like, un-become shitty people. I felt genuinely betrayed by a lot of stuff they did in DAI, and I’m still very hurt over it.
9: A game you played completely blind with no prior knowledge of and enjoyed/loved
Hmmmm Oxenfree I think I just snagged on a PS sale? OH The Council is a fantastic little mystery/suspense/eldritch horror game, and I love playing titles where the ends aren’t even all known because it’s so branching and so few people have played (this was also my experience with Oxenfree, bc I played around launch back when people thought there just was no good ending). I googled like ‘suggestions for decision based games’ and that’s how I found The Council, but I hardly thinks subgenre counts as prior knowledge. — oh I could also say Fallout 4. I knew nothing about Fallout at all, and got a PS4 to play Until Dawn as many times as it took to save Josh right after launch, having played once with my brother on his. I came home with my system after a shady Walmart parking lot Craigslist deal half an hour away where both I and the seller were sure we’d be murdered by each other, and when I got home my brother offered me his copy of FO4 for ten bucks (a month after release, back when it was a sixty dollar game), because he’d beaten it and only plays games once. I owned no games yet and wanted to try out the system, and happily agreed. I’d never played an open world game before. Or one where followers had an affinity system, or branching choices in the large scale way, so my mind was blown. I remember Piper stopping me (literally) to tell me she thought I was a little bit of a do-gooder, and being amazed the game was keeping track of my actions and she had comments on it. Core system memory there. It’ll always be a special game in my heart.
11: Do you prefer ‘blank slate’ main characters you make yourself or otherwise project onto, or characters with a set personality and backstory?
I like both! I guess I prefer a little backstory though? Because a game like FO4 where you can chose almost everything but you had a spouse, kid, and specific job, solid building blocks to rp with while getting a more complex personality. if I start a game like Skyrim where there’s a fuck ton of backstory I don’t know for the world, and NO history for me, I have no idea how to RP correctly. Because I don’t have the social and historical context. Like, DAO? Okay I get a quick background. Tabris. I love in a shitty Alienage, humans oppress us, I’m getting married, here’s an overview of my immediate social and political system. A+ — my personality and feelings are mine, but I have enough context for the world and my species and class that I can rp well. DAI? Idk we assume you played the rest of the series and tell you fuckall. I was a mage Vashoth. I got ‘your powers that would have made you a threat back home made you a successful mercenary. People are afraid of your species though.’ I’m there for some meeting?? That’s nothing. I started DAI before any other game, and had fucking 0 clue what anything to anyone was, and I couldn’t even give ‘I don’t know’ answers to make that work. Terrible game design. You can’t assume every player in your franchise played all 5 games before this. I know like 30 people who started Witcher in Witcher 3, and it did a great job of giving us not only world background, but specific past game facts too, so we /could/ start in 3. Anyway uh, I like minimal but enough context to rp well out the gate I guess? But it’s also fun to like, play a Telltale game be Lee Everett or Bruce Wayne. Like that’s cool too, idk which is more fun. Both fun for different reasons.
