[𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝]/𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐱 𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐞!𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥 𝐡𝐜𝐬
warnings: 🔞 minors dni | standard yandere obsessiveness, implied murder by angel for ren, masturbation mention, sex mention, gn!reader word count: 685 (i’m a YAPPER, okay?) a/n: this has only been proofread by me so if it’s shit, im sorry | this came out of me constantly joking about how much i love ren and how my angelsona would absolutely be as obsessive as he is
as much as i love the innocent!angel not knowing what [redacted]/ren gets up to trope, i’m equally feral over the concept of yandere!angel knowing every single thing that ren has been doing, who is as obsessive and violent as he is, but plays along with him because he just seems to have so much fun thinking that he’s fooling them and who are they to meddle with their love’s fun?
yan!angel who immediately notices the similarities in several people they’ve met in town (it’s the eyes; the intensity with which each of them looks at angel is as if they were starving for them) and piecing together that it’s [redacted] trying out different characters to see which one angel likes most. angel who is so flattered by this that it immediately triggers an intense obsession with [redacted] to the same degree that he is with them
angel who purposefully leaves the window unlocked and ajar just to make it easier for [redacted] to come visit them. who giddily gets into bed to pretend to be asleep as their heart leaps out of their chest hearing [redacted]’s careful footsteps wandering the apartment. angel who grins beneath the sheets imagining how happy [redacted] must be with how easy it was to break into their apartment and nearly loses their cool when [redacted] comes near their face to study their features before brushing their hair softly, promising to be back soon. angel who dares a peek at him as he leaves before touching the same part of their hair that [redacted] touched, savouring the lingering heat from his fingertips
angel who is already so in love with [redacted] and considers telling him the truth but can’t fathom disappointing him after all of the hard work he’s done to become ren, so they double down on the innocent act. angel who waits, against their own wishes, to give [redacted] the validation and attention he wants so badly because they know part of the excitement is the anticipation of finally getting the person you want
angel who glares at anyone who gets too close to ren when he turns away from them before returning to their usual sunny disposition so quickly when he looks back that it would give anyone watching whiplash
angel who nearly bursts a blood vessel seeing how olivia acts around ren at the shop and who, after a …. talk with her that night in their apartment, smiles widely as they enter the shop the next day with ren, knowing for certain that olivia won’t be there to get in the way (it was a bitch to get olivia’s blood off their best clothes in time to see ren but, of course, angel pulls through)
angel who has to stop themself from gazing into any available camera lens lovingly, knowing ren’s watching. who changes all their passwords to the easiest possible combinations so that ren can access them whenever he wants, who has a dedicated playlist that they play whenever they know he’s watching them— singing along to every single word and meaning all of it
angel who loves changing in front of their cameras for him, letting him watch as much as he wants to, knowing he’s probably getting off to the view. who sometimes will play with themselves in front of the camera “accidentally,” and who starts showering with their phone propped up to give a full view of them showering as they blast their playlist for ren
angel who, when ren finally figures it out, is so delighted that he now knows everything, begging him to drop the ren act and just be [redacted]. when [redacted] relents (i mean how could he not, look at them), angel giddily tells him about all of the people they’ve gotten rid of just to be nearer to him, pouting when they feel that [redacted] even paid a mild amount of attention to certain people, but smiling wide when he tells them that none of them matter to him. that the only one he wants is you, always and forever. that he only ever wants to be with you, always with you.
angel who never leaves without a tracker on them, always making themselves available to ren whenever they can, and who, in mutual obsession, falls deeper and harder in love with him. who looks at him like he’s the sun, like he can do no wrong (because he can’t), like he’s their god
bless the souls that dare to like either one of these two because there’ll be hell to pay when they eventually figure it out x

hi! hope you're well!
could you please do one where jason breaks up with Piper because he realises he's in love with reader since he was little?
like reader and jason are the bestest friends with mutual crushes but were too oblivious to do anything about it and the seven have to drop the fact that reader likes him back?
Thanks
heya! I combined this ask with someone who was asking for a Jason x reader songfic with the song Bad Idea Right? by Olivia Rodrigo <3
Tumblr media
Romeo and Julieting---Jason Grace x reader [soundtrack: Olivia Rodrigo]
»»————- ★ ————-««
“It’s a bad idea, Pipes!”
Piper pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed. “You are going to go to their cabin, you are going to make them sit down, and you are going to tell them that you have a crush on them, okay? And then you can both have a cutesy little romantic moment or whatever you're supposed to do in a relationship, okay?”
“What do you mean, ‘whatever you’re supposed to do in a relationship’?” Jason asked with a confused frown. He glanced up at Piper who was pacing back and forth as he sat cross legged on her bed, picking at her Olivia rodrigo doona cover. “We were in a relationship, like, five minutes ago.”
Piper cocked her head at him with a raised eyebrow, “that didn’t count and you know it, now go kiss them!”
“Not with tongue though,” Leo added, slurping a juice box as he spun in circles on the chair by Piper’s desk. “At least not the first time, it’d be a bit over the top. I mean unless you’re into that I guess-”
“What are you even doing here?” Jason asked him, not unkindly.
Leo smirked and then became distracted by the make up box on Piper’s desk, pulling out a dark lipstick and uncapping it with wide eyes. He turned back to Jason, “oh I’m watching you fail at both of your relationships.”
Jason frowned, “I just got dumped, why are you making fun of me?”
Leo twisted the base of the lipstick and then proceeded to lick it. He screwed up his face and put it away quickly. “You two forgot you were dating for an entire week, I had to remind you when you started drooling over a certain demigod that you already had a girlfriend.”
“Okay, that’s fair,” Jason muttered. Piper chuckled and moved her things away from Leo’s curious grabby hands, quickly taking her eyeliner off before he tried to taste test that as well. “But… but I can’t just walk up to them and be like, ‘hey, you’re my best friend, wanna kiss?’”
Leo blinked. “Why not?”
Jason wasn’t sure how his friend was still alive, but then he remembered that Leo had died already anyway. Piper shrugged, “don’t blame him, he doesn’t know how romance or social situations work.”
“Hey!” Leo hissed, pointing at her with a contour brush he’d managed to find, “that’s homophobic!”
“How can I be homophobic?” Piper screeched, pointing to the rainbow flag pinned up lopsidedly above her bed, next to the hello kitty poster and the giant banner that read ‘i fucked your mum and all i got was this stupid flag’.
Leo just stuck his tongue out at her. Then he turned to Jason. “If you don’t go romeo and juliet your way into a make out session, I will personally turn your stash of musk sticks into soot.”
Piper fiddled with her portable speaker, connecting it to the demigod proof phones Leo had managed to whip up in under three days after he discovered the Pokemon Go map reached CHB. “
“What do you mean Romeo and Juliet?” Jason asked.
“You gotta go up to their window and pretend it’s a balcony, Grace,” Piper said. SHe looked away from Olivia Rodrigo’s spotify and to the window. “It’s even raining outside. Perfect.”
Jason crossed his arms stubbornly, “I can think of a million ways it could go wrong.”
“Well I can’t,” Leo said as he started curling his eyelashes. The speaker next to him skipped a few beats and staticked it’ way through the music for a moment. Piper grinned.
“It’s a bad idea! I’m not doing it!”
Seein' you tonight, it's a bad idea, right?
»»————- ★ ————-««
Jason sucked in a breath and shut the Aphrodite cabin door behind him, hitching up his checked purple pajama pants and plodding through the dirt between the cabins lined up.
Seein' you tonight, it's a bad idea, right?
Even if he didn’t work up the courage to tell you how pretty he thought your eyes were when you smiled and how endearing it was that you wrapped and arm around his shoulders every time you were walking together and how that thing you did with your tongue on your lip drove him crazy, he’d still get to see you. So technically he was just visiting his best friend, what was wrong with that?
Seein' you tonight, it's a bad idea, right?
Maybe the fact that if said best friend asked to kiss him Jason wouldn’t even hesitate.
Seein' you tonight, it's a bad idea, right?
»»————- ★ ————-««
You pulled your curtains shut and waited for your younger siblings to finish putting all of their teddies to bed before the lamps were clicked off. After a few minutes, only the snores of your cabin mates and the rain on the roof were audible.
Hypnos dragged away everyone else in your cabin quickly, but you lay awake staring at the roof, your doona pulled up to your chin. A few polaroids were stuck to the walls next to your head, and the axolotl Squishmellow Leo had bought you for your birthday was in bed with you. You hugged it to your chest and shuffled around, trying to get to sleep.
You ignored the first tap at your window, which was probably just a Harpy checking everyone was tucked into their beds and not planning to sneak out.
The second one however, roused you from the warmth of the blanket Annabeth had crocheted as she discovered her skills with weaving. You paused in front of the window, sitting cross legged on your pillow. Whoever it was outside tapped again, so you pulled back the curtains and peeked out with narrowed eyes.
A grin spread across your face before you could help it, and you heaved the frame up, poking your head out into the night to whisper shout. “What are you doing dude? It’s pouring!”
Jason blinked up at you with soggy hair and muddy pajamas. He plodded through the puddles up to your window. Luckily he was tall enough that you were eye level when he hopped onto a little boulder. “Um…”
“Gimme a second,” you muttered, and crawled out of bed to the shoe rack by the door. Avoiding the floorboards you knew would creak, you hopped back into bed and slid the pink spotty umbrella through the window, opening it up above Jason.
He smiled, the scar on his lip twisting. You restrained yourself from reaching out to touch it and instead held the umbrella for him. “Is there a reason you’re Romeo and Julieting?”
Jason eyes were wide and pale blue, like the sky behind a thin veil of clouds. “How am i the only one who- never mind. Uhm… I need to tell you something.
The rain made it hard for you to hear whatever your best friend was muttering, so you beckoned him closer with a confused smile, “yeah? Did you forget how to use the toaster again? Because honestly I don’t know why you’re opposed to Leo just-”
“Because of hygiene, for one,” Jason started, “but that’s not why I’m here.”
You gave him a second to think, not used to the genuinely fearful look on his face dripping with rain you hoped wouldn’t turn to tears. You didn’t really know where this was going.
He took a deep breath, his fingers curling around your window sill. “If this goes wrong, please blame Leo and Piper.”
“I could blame them for anything, and I’d be right.”
Jason ducked his head and spoke to the ground. “I kind of… really like you. I’ve liked you for a long time, actually. I didn’t realize for a while, but it’s sort of…Yeah. It’s you.”
So it wouldn’t be Jason crying, you realized. It would be you.
You took a second to try that deep breathing thing someone had told you about, and smoothed out the front of your mickey mouse pajama shirt, blinking rapidly. The reality hadn’t really set it, you were in a sort of shocked state, so you tried to talk before you burst into tears.
“Uhm,” you said weakly. “I think you might’ve forgotten about your girlfriend again, Jase.”
He went pale. Then he started shaking his head like a wet dog, which he sort of was, really. “No, no not like that. I mean, yeah I like you like that, wait- okay. Piper broke up with me, like five minutes ago, and-”
You took another deep breath and then handed Jason the umbrella. He took it with a lost expression, and you shut your window quickly, breaths turning as shaky as your hands. You were your childhood crushes rebound. You sort of wished you hadn’t opened that window, actually.
Jason tapped again, a lot quicker this time, and urgent.
Ignoring him was the obvious choice, but that felt too kind. You yanked open the curtains again and then the glass, sticking your head out with a sharp glare. “I will not be your rebound-”
“She broke up with me because of you.” Jason blurted as soon as he realized you could hear him.
He paused then, and you took in the holy depressing sight that was Jason Grace in dirty pajamas standing outside your window in the middle of the night, rain and tears dripping down his cheeks. “Well, not completely. We never really liked each other, it was all because of Hera, really. We just, well… neither of us could be bothered to figure out our feelings so we stayed together.”
Jason looked down at the ugg boots covered in grass and soil he was wearing. You were pretty sure they were Drew’s. “Apparently she got sick of me pining over you, so she dumped me so that they could make me come here and well, yeah, tell you.”
You blinked in shock for probably too long.
“I don’t wanna make you do anything, and you don't have to say anything, ever, actually.” Jason said quickly, with only honesty on his cute face. “You don’t have to keep being my friend, if you don’t want to, but I won't be weird, I promise. We can pretend this didn’t actually happen. I just sort of wanted to tell you, so I didn't have to hide it forever, I guess.”
“They?” You asked.
Jason glared in the direction of the Aphrodite cabin. He spoke in a hollow voice. “It was an ambush. There were no survivors.”
You grinned, and then reached out into the pouring rain and held the umbrella, your hand over his. Jason whipped around with red cheeks and a frozen expression. “Uh-”
“Jason,” you began softly. “Did you want to Romeo and Juliet me?”
He blinked.
“That means come here so I can kiss you,” You muttered, and dragged the son of Jupiter closer by the front of his shirt. Jason’s eyes widened and he made a shocked little sound.
He hopped back onto the boulder and reached up to your window sill though. His eyes were that bit lower than your own in that way you knew exactly what he was thinking and of course you’d oblige.
“Just c’mere,” you whispered, trying to hold in your smile. Jason leant forward eagerly, and you held the umbrella in one hand tightly, the other sliding up to cup his jaw. You’d wondered what the scar on Jason’s lip felt like.
Turned out it was just as soft as the rest of him.
You tilted your head as heat seemed to build in your veins, making your head light. You couldn’t help but pull him closer, if that was even possible, and kissed him firmly. He made another odd sound and opened his mouth slowly.
From what you’d heard from your older siblings, kissing was awesome. You’d always thought it sounded a bit gross though, I mean, someone elses mouth? Their tongue?
This badly timed badly worded fucking adorbale boy in front of you proved that theory wrong. Jason threaded his fingers through your own and you leaned further out the window, drawing him back in and pressing your mouth deeper into his own, lungs burning.
“Oh my gods,” Jason croaked, opening his eyes a little when you finally pulled away, gasping for air and trying to straighten out your thoughts.
“Oh my gods,” you agreed, slipping your hand around the back of his neck and holding him close, fingers fiddling with the baby hairs there. Jason grinned, his cheeks as red as his lips.
“Oh my gods! Go Jason!”
You both turned to see Piper and Leo cheering from behind another cabin, holding a barbie umbrella between them.
Jason blinked at them, and then turned to you, “I told you, it was an ambush.”

JEALOUSY, JEALOUSY — JACK HUGHES
jack hughes x fem!reader
request: “hey! can you do something with prompts 19, 43, and 44 with jack hughes please? love your work btw!”
19. “OH you’re jealous!”
43. “give me attention.”
44. “YOU SAID TO BE HONEST STOP HITTING ME!”
summary: in which y/n gets jealous, but not in the way you’d expect.
notes: after reading these prompts, this idea immediately popped into my head. i apologize if this isn’t really what you had in mind, anon. no affiliation to the song “Jealousy, Jealousy” by Olivia Rodrigo. and this one shot is not meant to be taken too seriously, it’s just a fun twist on the jealousy trope! <3
Tumblr media
to be fair, i’m not a very big dog person to begin with. Jack knew that well enough, i mean, i did bring two cats with me in this relationship. Jack however, loved dogs. So i shouldn’t have been surprised when i came home last week to find out that Jack agreed to dog-sit for Shara while he and his wife and baby took a trip. but now it’s been two weeks of pet-sitting and i’m sorta over it.
i step out of Jack and i’s bedroom, in search of my boyfriend of two years, after waking up alone. padding into the living room, i find him lounging on our couch, the dog curled up next to him in the spot that i usually take, and even the cats are laid down by his feet. he’s watching a random movie off netflix, absentmindedly running his hand up and down the dogs back like he usually does to me.
it’s stupid, right? to be jealous of a dog? but unfortunately, i am, because this is what it’s been like for two weeks now. i’m not very high maintenance, but i do look forward to his attention, and i love the mundane things like waking up next to him in bed, or cuddling on the couch and watching tv. but those things have not been happening. i know it doesn’t mean anything, it doesn’t seem like he even realizes what he’s doing. like yesterday, i got home from a bad day at work, and usually he’s quick to realize my sad state and give me a hug to cheer me up. but when he still hadn’t noticed three hours later, sat on the floor, playing catch with the dog while he asked me what we should do for dinner, which was only the third time he had spoken to me since i had gotten home, it only solidified my jealousy.
he’s loving having a dog in the apartment, but i can officially say that i’m not on the same page.
“oh, hey. when did you wake up?” Jack’s voice snaps me out of my thoughts and it’s only now that i realize i was glaring at the dog.
“a few minutes ago.” i avert my gaze over to him while i talk but look back at the dog before speaking again. “you weren’t in bed. again.”
“yeah, i didn’t want him to get lonely.” him. the dog.
“he’s a dog. he’ll be fine while we sleep.” i’m able to control the bite in my voice, keeping it at an untraceable amount.
“he’s not like the cats, love. he requires attention.” he laughs, but due to my poor sleep, i don’t find the joke very funny.
“so does your girlfriend.” i grumble to myself, side-eying.
i wait for him to speak again but when i realize his focus is back on the dog, scratching its ear and kissing its head, i huff and discreetly stomp into the kitchen to make some coffee. but apparently it wasn’t as discreet as i thought, because not a minute later, Jack is in the kitchen with me, the dog trailing after him.
“hey, what’s up with you?” he asks. i send a side-eyed glare towards the dog that’s now nudging my boyfriends hand with it’s nose.
“nothing.” i say, pouring cold brew into my cup of ice before adding my creamer and stirring with my straw.
“oh, no. no, no, no. i thought we got out of the ‘nothing’ phase over a year ago.” Jack shakes his head and leans against the counter. “it’s obviously not nothing.”
oh, so now he can tell i’m upset?
“seriously, Jack, just drop it. i didn’t sleep well, that’s all.” he shakes his head again and pushes off the counter, walking over and placing his hands on my hips, pulling me against him.
“i don’t believe you. what’s actually wrong?” i can’t control myself, my gaze drops from his, down to the dog who’s sitting patiently, waiting for Jack to go back to loving on him. i look back up at Jack and i can tell he’s thinking hard, before his eyes go wide and a smile splits across his face. “OH you’re jealous!”
he laughs and it makes me go red with embarrassment.
“of the dog! oh, babe.” i can hear the pity in his voice and i lift my hands to my face, seeking shelter behind them.
“you’re giving him all your attention.” my words are muffled. “i want you to give me attention.”
his fingers wrap lightly around my wrists, pulling my hands down before he cradles my face with his own hands.
“babe, you get all my attention, all the time. he’s only gonna be here for two more days. and then i’ll be so clingy, that you’ll get sick of me.”
“i don’t get sick of you.” i mumble, nuzzling my face closer into his touch.
“oh trust me, you will. you’ll be all like ‘Jack, omg give me some space!’” he ups his voice a couple octaves, making it squeaky and high pitched, and i laugh, pulling back and playfully hitting his arm.
“i do not sound like that! and did you just say ‘omg’? i don’t say that!”
“uh what are you talking about? i sounded exactly like you! Luke can vouch for me.” i roll my eyes and laugh again and then act serious, gazing up at him with puppy dog eyes.
“be honest, was it pathetic of me to be jealous of a dog?” i ask jokingly.
“honest? yeah, kinda.” he smirks and i let loose a mock gasp, lightly smacking his chest repeatedly, making him bark out in laughter. “YOU SAID TO BE HONEST STOP HITTING ME!”
“that was so rude! you were supposed to say ‘no, you could never be pathetic!’” i join in his laughter as he grabs my wrists, stopping my weak assault.
“that would be lying, y/n, and lying is immoral.”
“you know what else is immoral, Jack Rowden Hughes?” i ask. “calling your girlfriend pathetic!”
he pulls me into a hug, planting a light kiss on the top of my head.
“i love you. you know that, yeah?”
“yeah, i know that. i love you too.” i feel a nudge on my butt and look down to see the dog gazing up at me. “eh, i guess you’re not so bad, boyfriend stealer.”

Hiiii still accepting requests? you can write one where Harry is in the PR relationship with olivia, and as much as the reader (his real girlfriend) thinks this is all a joke, she doesn't pass up the opportunity to be a little petty and teases Harry a little, like when he tries to kiss her in front of a selective group of friends who know about them she turns her face away, makes him jealous when talking to some other guy, but she knows she would never cheat on him because she loves him, but she also needs to get some fun out of this whole circus
Y/n needs to make Harry suffer a little, taste his own poison 😋😋 but in the end we know that the reader and Harry are fine
Tumblr media
“And then what happened?”
“Well, we actually…it’s sort of embarrassing now, but we…we kind of got stuck up there.”
Jimmy responds with a boisterous laugh, as does the entire studio audience, before Harry continues to recall the embarrassing details of the odd story.
“Stuck?” Jimmy repeats, leaning further across his desk and sending a confused look the audience's way. “How did you get stuck?”
“Well…” Harry smiles, readjusting in his seat. “Friend of mine thought it would be funny to see if we could actually make it to the Hollywood sign. So, we did. And…then, we couldn’t get back out.”
Your TV screen erupts in laughter once more as you smirk from your sofa, spooning another bite of ice cream into your mouth.
“Oh gosh...what did you do?”
Harry pauses, bringing his fingers to his lips as he tugs, avoiding the answer as Jimmy chuckles again. “Uh…we called the fire department.”
You can’t resist chuckling yourself as you remember the panicked look on his face. The way he was clutching onto the firefighter like a koala bear.
Harry goes on to divulge every detail of that rather adventurous day as you relive each moment. It was just as ridiculous as Harry is describing, but it was truly one of the best days of your life.
And it’s one of your favorite moments with him.
Even if he did just refer to you as merely a friend.
Eventually, the subject switches to his next album, and truth be told, you begin to disengage.
You’ve heard this story a hundred times at least and while you’re proud of him, you’re also incredibly exhausted from such a long day. You reach for the remote, flipping through the channels half-heartedly until the sound of a throat clearing emanates from behind you.
“Okay, well that just hurts.”
You don’t have to turn around to know exactly who that child-like complaint belongs to. You smirk, still surfing through the channels as you feel a familiar large pair of hands smoothing over your shoulders and down your arms in a gentle caress.
“You’ll get used to it,” you tell him smugly, the brush of his lips against your cheek nearly forcing a sigh. “How was it?”
“Good.” His voice is soft. A light murmur as he presses a kiss to your neck. “Missed you, though.”
“Yeah, well. The couch missed me more.” You refuse to fall victim to his guilty touch as you toss the remote onto the sofa once you’ve settled on something. “How is she?”
You feel the falter of his fingertips along your skin, the sound of his breath hitching almost making you smile. “Good,” he repeats, a bit airier before another throat clear. “Fine. It was fine.”
Who are you trying to convince, Harry? You or me?
“That’s good,” you reply, and his lips find their way to your cheek once more. But just before he can finally find that kiss he’s so desperately been searching for, you stand from the couch and declare, “Well, I’m gonna head to bed. Night, Har.”
And as you disappear into the bedroom, you watch him brace his hands against the back of the sofa, head dropping to his chest as he mutters a quiet, “Shit.”
Maybe it’s a bit cruel to torture him in such a way. But, truthfully, it’s his own doing.
There was a time when you were convinced he’d laugh at the notion of a publicized relationship. Much less one so blatantly deceitful.
After all, he's never enjoyed the idea of lying to the public. Tricking them. Creating a false narrative.
And now, here he is, with her on his arm for every event, every photo op, and every interview.
Truthfully, you don’t really mind. You like her. She’s nice. She’s funny. She knows her boundaries. And you know she’s equally as uncomfortable with the lie as he is.
But he did this to himself. And if he insists on dragging out the deception, it's only fair you give him a taste of the consequences he’s so convinced he’s immune to.
For the rest of the night and into the next day, you watch the guilt and shame work its way to the surface. Manifesting in the little things he’ll do.
Like when his head mysteriously finds its way to your stomach as you sleep. Or when he pulls you into his arms to spoon and you do your best not to smile.
Although, you can't resist letting your ass graze against his cock just a bit.
Or when he insists on joining you in the shower—just to conserve water—and running the soapy luffa down your arms and back.
Or when he declares that you’re not allowed to lift a finger as he prepares your breakfast and coffee. Gets you settled into the window nook as he makes his famous latte and French toast sticks.
Smiling at you through the entire meal.
Reaching out to swipe his thumb over the syrup dripping down your lip before bringing it to his own tongue to suck.
Sneaky bastard.
But through it all, your resolve remains. You don’t let the eye contact linger. Don’t melt into his touch. Don’t even fall for the, “Babe-can-you-help-me-make-the-bed?” routine.
And each time you reject his guilt-driven attempts, you watch the determination grow that much stronger.
It’s a battle of wits, now.
A battle that becomes increasingly difficult to play when your friends make their way to your shared apartment for Game Night.
However, the energy is vivacious. The activities are fun. The wine is almost gone before the first game has even commenced.
And yet, even still, the two of you are doing everything you can to make the other break.
“Max,” Harry calls, gesturing toward the tall fellow in the corner. “Roll.”
Max does as instructed, tossing the dice until it lands on the order to retrieve a card. “All right. ‘To the left, a play of theft. Perhaps the mouth, unless down south.’”
Everyone’s brows furrow in thought, a moment or two passing before Harry finally groans, “See, this is why we don’t use these cards for games. Cause they’re really fucking inappropriate for distinguished company.”
Max blinks. “Wait, what is it asking?”
“To steal a kiss,” Lucy laughs, taking the card from him before glancing toward Harry. “Right?”
A frown. “Yes,” he grumbles as his eyes drift to you.
And for a moment, you wonder why, until you realize you’re sitting to Max’s left.
Ah.
Max clears his throat before glancing between you both. “Oh, well, I don’t need to—”
“No, no, that’s okay,” you’re quick to interject, turning in your seat to face him. “S’part of the rules, anyway.”
“Well, technically the rules are actually describing a kiss down lower…but yeah,” Lucy corrects, and you don’t miss the way Harry rolls his eyes.
With that, you lean a bit closer as Max does the same, and about two seconds later…your lips meet.
It’s quick. Light. Not at all romantic, but yet you can still hear Harry scoffing under his breath.
“Okay, your turn,” Lucy declares after a moment, tossing the dice your way. You roll, find your number, and retrieve a card.
“Perhaps a tad bit sticky, but nevertheless a quicky. A sensual kind of bruise, the location yours to choose,” you recite, a frown forming as you reread the instructions to yourself. “Wait...what?”
“Oh,” Amy pipes up, politely extending her hand to see the card. After looking it over, she nods. “Yeah, that’s what I thought. You have to give someone a hickey.”
“Seriously, how do you guys understand these?” Max questions, head shaking with disbelief and wonder. “And where did you get this game, anyway?”
“It was a gift,” Harry replies through gritted teeth, now slipping the card from Amy’s hand. “And it’s a dumb game, so let’s just play Scrabble—”
“Now, hold on.” Your smirk breaks free as you pluck the instructions from Harry’s fingers. “I’m nothing if not a fair player. The card says I gotta give a hickey, so I gotta give a hickey. It’s only fair.”
Your eyes meet. A stand-off. The displeasure written all over his face as his hands find the edge of his chair to help lean him forward.
“Fine,” he agrees, and the rest of the group looks on with intrigue. “Have at it.”
The other guests begin to cheer, all offering themselves to be your willing victims, and you take your time looking around, the choice all yours.
Then, you stand. Stand and make your way to Amy.
She smiles up at you, winking once as a sign of consent, and you lean down, taking her face in your palms.
Your lips find her neck, teeth ghosting her pulse point as you work to fulfill your task. Sucking a soft, hardly noticeable bruise into her skin as the other players holler their encouragement.
And just to add a bit of fuel to the flame…you groan. Groan as your tongue sweeps across the artwork you’ve created until Amy giggles.
Before you know it, your fun is suddenly stripped from your grasp as you feel a large hand wrap itself around your arm to tug you back, and your lips are forced to disconnect from her skin.
Got him.
“All right, well, this was fun, everyone,” Harry declares, dragging you away from Amy before placing your body just behind his. His chin thrusts toward the door. “Hope you all get home safe. Don’t forget your coats.”
“Aww, Har—” you begin to pout, but he glances over his shoulder with a look so furious and displeased, your lips clamp shut.
“Yup. Mhm. And your purses,” he continues as your friends all laugh and stumble their way for the door. “Cabs are downstairs. Nobody plans to drive, right? Good. Yeah, there you go. Out the door. Buh-bye now.”
And once the last guest has slipped into the hallway and shut the door behind them, Harry turns to you.
Shit.
He takes a step, eyes peering into yours as you swallow.
And before he can reveal his irritation, you quickly smile and whisper, “Okay, in my defense...you love Amy. And it was kind of your fault for referring to me as a friend on TV. And for ditching me last night to hang out with—”
“Do you feel good?” he interrupts, cutting your argument short. “Hm, darling? D’you feel good about torturing me? Making me sit through that?”
A shit-eating grin. “Honestly? Yeah, kind of.”
He takes another step toward you, and instinctively, you move back. “Yeah? You feel good about making me watch you on her lap? Feel good about teasing me all night until I had to get up and fuck my fist in the bathroom?”
So that’s what that sound had been.
“Feel good about making me watch you lick the syrup off your fingers this morning? Making me watch it drip down your chest? And never letting me clean it for you?” Another step. “This what you wanted?”
And despite the low murmur in his voice, you can’t help but bite at your lip, offering a short nod because yes. That had been what you wanted and you’re pleased to see you can still play him like a fiddle.
“Good,” he decides before his head cocks to the side, and a certain look passes over his face.
A look you know incredibly well.
“Because you’re fucking in for it now.”

Mr Steve and the Monster Hunter
Hope you're ready for this chapter... @bigbangharringrove
Chapter 1 Chapter 2
On Ao3
Tumblr media
Steve has questions and Billy has feelings
Chapter 3 - It's a code red
“Whose car is this, Daddy?” Livi asks, pulling him towards the front door.
“I have no idea, princess,” Billy replies. He wonders for a moment if it may be Steve but dismisses the idea. There is little chance he’ll hear from Steve, too much bad blood, even if it was a long time ago. Some things don’t change, no matter how much you might want them to.
They walk in and Livi drops her bag in the foyer before following the noise from the TV in the lounge. Billy follows at a slower pace, stopping in his tracks when he hears Livi’s voice.
“Mommy, where is Mama? And why is Mr Steve at our house?”
He’s here…
Robin’s reply is lost as Billy’s blood is suddenly rushing in his ears and the tips of his fingers tingle. He feels his power rise like a slow wave and he makes himself focus on taking deep breaths but it’s too late. He hears El’s voice in his head, checking in, because she felt it too.
Billy
Hey, El
Are you in danger
No, I'm okay, I’m with the girls
Then why… Oh
Billy feels her pause and he knows she knows.
Yeah… Steve’s here
Good luck
Yeah, thanks
Billy breaks the mental connection a few seconds before Livi comes running up to him. He picks her up, grateful for her little arms wrapping around his neck, providing him with a few extra minutes before he has to face Steve again. He can see Robin’s smirk from here but since he’s the one who decided to tell her and Heather about his long lasting unrequited crush, on a drunken night many moons ago, he needs to get over himself.
“Daddy! It was Mr Steve’s car. He’s on the couch with Mommy. Mama is having a nap. Mommy said I could go and tell her about our day.”
“Great idea, princess. You go cuddle up with Mama.”
“I love you, Daddy,” Olivia says, giving him a kiss on the cheek. “Thank you for taking me to the zoo today. I had the best day.”
Billy grins. “Did Mommy tell you to say that?”
Olivia rolls her eyes and, boy, does she look like Heather when she does. “No.”
“Okay. I had a lot of fun too. I love you.”
He lets her down after one more kiss and cuddle and watches her run towards her moms’ room, calling out to her and putting a finger across his mouth to remind her to be quiet when she puts her hand on the door.
He turns towards the living room to find Steve in the doorway staring at him. Suddenly he’s back at Tina’s house, the night of her Halloween party, after winning the dumb keg stand, Tommy Hagan dragging him into the house to show him off to King Steve, who clearly didn’t give a fuck about any of it.
He stares back at Steve because he can’t help himself, the big brown eyes fixed on him calling to him like a siren in the fog. There’s something in them that wasn’t there before and Billy fleetingly wonders if he will ever get a chance to find out.
He’s always been gone for Steve, since the first time he saw him in the parking lot of Hawkins High on his first day, and he’s tired of pretending he’s not. But at the same time, nothing good will come of this, Steve is not interested anyway. He’s just curious because Billy came back from the dead.
Billy dispels the memories gripping him with a shake of his head and walks over to Steve. He stops far enough that he won’t be tempted to touch Steve, but close enough to smell Steve’s aftershave.
“Hey there, pretty boy. Twice in two days. A guy might start to get ideas,” he says, with a trace of his old bravado. There’s always been something about Steve that keeps him on edge. To his relief, Steve smiles. It’s small and tentative, a lifting of the corner of his kissable lips, but it’s there and Billy takes comfort in that.
“Maybe he should,” comes Steve’s reply and Billy feels it like a punch in the gut.
He’s trying to figure out what to reply—his brain trying to process this new development and his dick yelling at him to drag Steve to his room and shove his tongue down the other man’s throat—when Robin comes out of the kitchen, drying her hands on a dish towel.
“Hey, B. How did today go?”
Billy smiles and reaches into his pocket. “Great. You know how much she loves the zoo. Thanks for the use of your car, as always. Here’s your keys.”
She takes the keys off him with a knowing grin. “She really does. What did she con you into buying her this time?”
Billy chuckles, aware of Steve’s gaze on him still. “Another stuffed otter for her collection, since apparently someone suggested she name them following the letters of the alphabet and she’s up to J…”
“Yeah, that wasn’t me, my friend. What did she call this one? Jasper? Juniper? Jeremiah?”
“Jehoshaphat?” Steve throws in with a grin, and Robin and Billy turn to look at him.
“Nice one, dingus.”
“Nah,” Billy replies, “Jane, after her auntie Janie.” His eyes linger on Steve and his fingers start to tingle again. He forces himself to take deep breaths to push back. This is not the time.
“Awww. You should bring her next time.” Robin walks back into the kitchen and Billy follows her. The keys jingle when she dumps them in a bowl by the toaster and he gets himself a glass of water, before leaning against the counter. Steve lingers in the doorway again, leaning on it with his arms crossed over his chest.
“Rob, you know very well that bringing her means bringing the other two, they’re pretty much joined at the hip.”
“Yeah, at the hip…” Robin snickers and Billy smirks.
“What, um, who are you talking about?” Steve asks, stepping into the kitchen and Billy shares a glance with Robin, who shrugs before putting the dish towel down by the sink.
“Up to you what you are willing to share, B. I trust him. On this note, I’ll leave you guys to it, I need to go put my kid to bed.” She pets Billy on the shoulder as she walks past him then gives Steve a quick hug before she leaves the room.
Then it’s just the two of them and Billy peels off the counter to sit at the table with his glass. He takes a sip of water and waits for Steve to say something. Mostly because he isn’t sure where to start, or how much Steve wants to hear.
“So…” Steve says, grabbing a chair and sitting across from Billy at the square Formica table.
“So,” Billy repeats, sure Steve will have questions because how could he not. He keeps his eyes on the glass in front of him, the power humming quietly in the back of his mind and in the tip of his fingers.
“I saw you die, Billy,” Steve whispers, and Billy looks up at him then. His brown eyes look haunted and Billy hurts from it. He feels the water in his glass starting to heat up and he forces himself to tamp the surge down. He doesn’t need El reaching out again.
“You saw me fall,” he says softly, like it explains anything. “Doc Owens said I would have died if they hadn’t reached me when they did. I spent six months in hospital, had to learn to walk again because I was in a coma for weeks.”
“The website says you were in the Marines?”
Billy lets out a short laugh. “Yeah, that’s part of the cover story they came up with. I mean, I tried but… let’s just say that I have issues with authority figures that want me to call them Sir while I follow their orders blindly.”
“Oh. What about the rest of your bio?”
“I did some intensive training once I left the hospital, then Owens recruited me and we set up HellGrove. I’m sure Robin filled you in on the details.”
“A little, yes but I was wond—”
Billy
El’s voice in his head masks whatever Steve was saying and Billy focuses on her.
What’s up?
Code Red
“Fuck.” Bill stands up immediately, rubbing both hands over his face. Not now!
“Billy, what? Were you even listening to me?”
Billy looks down at Steve. He sighs. “I am very, very sorry about this, pretty boy, but I have to go.”
“Go? Go where? Robin said you’re staying in the guest room?”
El? Gimme five
Okay, Will and Lucas on standby
Thanks
“Billy? What the fuck is going on? You said you’d answer my questions and now you’re leaving?”
“I know, and I am sorry.” Billy leaves the kitchen and walks to the guest room, a pissed-off Steve hot on his heels.
“Hargrove!”
Billy grabs his duffle bag and puts it on the bed. Fuck, fuck, fuck! The universe is really taking the piss. The one time he finally gets to sit down with Steve to have that talk he’s been dreaming about…
“Rob!” he calls out as he pulls out his go bag. Steve is pacing between the door and the window and Billy doesn’t have time to deal with it. Not when El called a code red. FUCK!
“Yeah?” Robin appears in the doorway, and Livi comes up beside her in her unicorn pajamas.
“Are you okay, Daddy?” she asks and Billy smiles before walking over to them. He crouches down to Livi’s level and kisses his daughter on the cheek. The timing fucking sucks.
“I’m sorry, princess, Daddy has to go fight the monsters. Auntie Janie called and she needs help. I’ll be back as soon as I can, okay? I promise.”
“She called? How did she call? Hello?” Steve says from somewhere behind him but Billy ignores him. There is no time.
“It’s okay, Daddy. I understand. I love you. Be careful, okay?”
“I will. And I love you too.” Billy gets up and walks back to the bed where he unzips his go bag.
“How bad?” Robin asks as Billy sheds his jacket and the button-down shirt he was wearing to change into the mission-sanctioned black tee with the HellGrove logo on the chest. He hears a gasp in the corner and figures it’s Steve, probably reacting to the scars covering his body.
“Code red.”
“Oh. Yeah, okay. Olivia, come on, sweetie, time for bed. We’ll let Daddy get ready.” Robin picks up the little girl and turns to Billy. “B, no portals inside the house. I’m serious. You singed the carpet last time, and this is a rental!”
Billy turns around and rolls his eyes. “Oh my god, that was one time, Robin!”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Steve, lock the front door behind you when you leave. Good night.” She waves at them before retreating down the hallway with Livi.
“Portals?” Steve asks, standing in front of Billy.
His hair is a mess and he looks more confused than pissed off now, so fucking kissable it hurts.
Billy sits on the bed to swap his Chuck Taylors for steel-capped boots that match his all black outfit, then he puts on his leather jacket and zips it up before looking at Steve. “I wish I had time to sit down and explain, pretty boy, but I have to go.”
“Yeah, no, I get that. You and Robin have made that pretty fucking clear. What I don’t get is how you found out about this code red bullshit and how exactly this Auntie Janie called you. I’m assuming you mean Eleven?”
“Come on, pretty boy, surely you’re able to add two and two together and get to four. Yes, of course I mean El. She and I have… a connection. It started that night at Starcourt, when she pulled me out of his control. I also ended up with some extra abilities, leftover perks, I guess.”
“What?”
“Don’t worry too much about it. I’ll be out of your hair in a minute and you can go back to your life.” Billy knows he’s out of time and out of luck. He wanted a sign from the universe and he got one. He doubts he’ll get this chance with Steve again. With a sigh, he picks up his backpack and hoists it on his back. “And apparently I have to go outside to preserve the fucking carpet.”
“Fuck this, I’m coming with you.” Steve moves in front of the door, and Billy is of half a mind to open the portal in the bedroom just to see the look on his face.
“Steve, I’m not taking you into the Upside Down. It’s way too dangerous. You're… you’re my kid’s teacher, for fuck’s sake!” He can’t risk it, can’t risk Steve, even if he never has a chance with him. He won’t be able to deal if something bad happens to Steve. Also he’ll never hear the end of it if Max finds out.
“I killed demogorgons with a baseball bat full of nails before you even knew what the fucking Upside Down was, Hargrove.” The steel in Steve’s voice hits something inside Billy’s chest. There’s that fire everyone was talking about that he’d missed. It makes his power hum in approval.
"Okay, fine.” He looks Steve up and down. “But you can’t go dressed like that, you’ll get us killed.”

‘Ugh,’ Austin said as he flopped into the makeup chair with an oomph.
‘Long day?’ Y/N asked with a smile as he placed his feet up on the table beside her smiling cheekily as she bumped them off with a nudge of her hip.
‘The longest,’ he said, ‘that last scene took forever.’
‘It looked good though,’ she said handing him a makeup wipe. He took it without hesitation, but he looked up at her curiously.
‘You were watching?’ Austin asked a slight blush tinging his face that she didn’t notice.
‘Yeah I always try and watch where I can,’ Y/N said nonchalantly as she moved to start removing the adjustments to his face to get him back looking like himself. He allowed her to, watching her as she worked, her tongue poking out in concentration as she diligently removed every scrap of 60s Elvis from his face. She was leaning over him, the scent of her perfume wafting into his nostrils and causing a flutter to run through him as he realised just how close she was.
‘Have you got any plans for tonight then?’ Y/N asked as she dropped a couple of latex pieces into a small dish on the counter.
‘Food and Netflix probably,’ he shrugged.
‘Sounds fun,’ she chuckled.
‘Well if you’ve got any better ideas, I’m all ears,’ he replied. Y/N looked down at him before she looked away, fiddling with some of the items on the vanity as she said, ‘well we could hang out.’
‘Yeah?’ Austin replied.
‘Yeah, I mean I’m starving we could grab something to eat,’ she said finally looking at him though it seemed nervous as if she wasn’t sure he’d say yes.
‘How about the bar a couple of blocks from here?’ he said, ‘I’m sure it does food.’
‘Sounds good to me,’ she said.
‘Let me just get out of this costume and I’ll be ready, okay?’ he asked standing up from the chair. She looked down at the white suit and black pants he was still wearing.
‘Okay,’ she said. Austin nodded and headed back out of the room towards his dressing room. Once he was out of the door she checked herself over in the mirror hoping she looked presentable enough for evening plans. Fortunately she had everything she needed at her disposal and by the time she could hear Austin coming back down the hall she was supporting an effortlessly casual look.
‘Hey,’ Austin said popping his head around the door, ‘ready to go?’
‘Yep,’ she replied grabbing her bag from the floor and slinging it over her shoulder. As they got into the corridor and fell into step Austin looked at her. She looked different but he couldn’t put a finger on how all he knew was that he could feel those butterflies returning a small smile creeping onto his face.
When they got to the bar it was crowded and Y/N had to crane her neck to see if she could find a seat. Seeing there was a booth at the back free she barrelled towards it Austin followed quickly after he realised where she was headed however in the vicinity a girl got to the booth ahead of them, sliding into it before either of them could with her back to them. Y/N sighed turning back to face Austin though as she did she heard her name called from the booth making the pair of them look towards the voice and found Olivia looking at them.
‘Hey guys,’ she said.
‘Hey,’ Austin said moving to stand next to Y/N.
‘What are you doing here?’ she asked eyeing them both closely as they shared a look.
‘Just grabbing some food,’ Y/N said casually.
‘Yeah Y/N told me I wasn’t allowed to go home and watch Netflix all by myself,’ Austin chuckled, ‘what about you?’
‘Well I was meeting Helen for drinks but she’s running late,’ Olivia said checking her phone and opening it with a sigh, ‘even better she’s cancelled.’
‘Well you can join us right Y/N?’ he said missing the disappointment on her face as he slipped into the booth opposite Olivia.
‘Yeah of course,’ she said jovially slipping into the booth beside him not noticing Olivia watching her curiously.
As they ordered and chatted about the day of filming Olivia watched them both, participating in the conversation minimally as she observed them. She had of course suspected they had liked one another in more than just a friendly way. Austin was always eager to go to hair and makeup and Y/N almost never ended up working on anyone else but she didn’t know they were this smitten. As Austin told a joke Y/N laughed putting her hand on his bicep as she did, and Olivia watched as Austin’s face lit up from making her smile. It was as if neither of them realised Olivia was there. They only seemed to come out of their own bubble when the waitress arrived and placed down their food.
‘Man, I am ready for this,’ Austin said as he grabbed a knife and fork from the pot on the table.
‘I’m just going to go to the bathroom really quick,’ Y/N said.
‘Your foods gonna go cold!’ Austin said.
‘She’s not even brought mine yet it’ll be fine!’ she said before she disappeared off in the direction of the bathrooms. Olivia tucked into her nachos.
‘What do you think?’ Austin said shoving a French fry into his mouth as he watched her eat.
‘It’s good,’ Olivia said covering her mouth as she spoke and looking away from Austin who frowned feeling something was off.
‘You alright?’ he asked making Olivia look up.
‘Well I’m not having a great time,’ Olivia shrugged looking at him.
‘Why not?’ Austin asked his brows knitting together with confusion.
‘Because it’s no fun being a third wheel,’ she said a smirk falling on her face as Austin’s eyes went wide.
‘You’re not a third wheel-’
‘Oh please,’ Olivia chuckled taking a sip of her drink, ‘you two have barely even noticed me. You could’ve told me it was a date.’
‘It’s not a date,’ Austin said.
‘Sure it’s not,’ Olivia said with a roll of her eyes though after one look at Austin’s face she realised he was serious, ‘oh. I mean I just thought.’
‘Thought what?’ Austin asked.
‘I mean the two of you like each other,’ Olivia said continuing as Austin went to protest, ‘don’t pretend that you don’t. You barely even notice anyone’s around when she’s there.’
‘That’s not true,’ Austin said but as the butterflies fluttered inside him once more he realised his friend might have more of a point than he realised. He liked Y/N. They were friends sure, but he hadn’t thought of it like that. He enjoyed her company. She made him laugh and she was always the first person he got to talk to when he’d had a crappy day on set but he always thought it was just the way their roles had fallen yet as he thought about it he realised she’d been the first person he went to because she was the first person he wanted to tell. But did she like him back? If Olivia could see the way he liked her maybe she could see how Y/N felt too. But he panicked. What if he told her he liked her and she shot him down? They still had half a shoot to go and he couldn’t dare think about how awkward that would be.
‘Sure,’ Olivia said, ‘that’s why she looked heartbroken when you suggested we pair up.’
‘It’s not like that,’ Austin said, ‘I mean I don’t think it is. Wait do you think she thinks this a date?’
‘I dunno I mean looking at the pair of you it sure feels like one,’ Olivia ribbed making him scowl, ‘oh come on it’s not a bad thing.’
‘Liv I just got out of a relationship,’ he said.
‘So you’re not ready?’ she asked.
‘It’s not that…I guess it’s been so long since I felt like this, I didn’t really realise I did,’ he admitted.
‘But you do feel like that?’ Olivia asked.
‘Maybe…’ he said sighing as she stared at him pointedly, ‘okay yes.’
‘Then I think you should go for it,’ Olivia said.
‘What if she doesn’t like me back,’ Austin said.
‘I don’t think you have to worry about that. Hey, your wife can tell when someone’s into you,’ Olivia joked making him chuckle.
‘I forgot I’m a married man,’ he smirked.
‘Well I give you permission…in fact,’ she said as she spotted Y/N pushing through a crowd of men until she was back at the table. Austin looked puzzled but as Y/N sat down Olivia looked at her phone and sighed, ‘oh no.’
‘Everything okay?’ Y/N asked, smiling politely at the waitress who had just placed her food down before she looked back at an upset Olivia. Austin was watching her in disbelief as he realised what she was going.
‘No, Helen’s free now but she’s just asked me to meet her somewhere else,’ Olivia said looking up, ‘you guys don’t mind, do you?’
‘Oh, um no I guess not,’ Y/N said.
‘What about your food?’ Austin asked making Olivia smile, ‘you guys have it.’
‘Why don’t you just go afterwards?’ Y/N asked.
‘Yeah Liv, why not?’ Austin asked trying to make her falter but she didn’t.
‘I’m not too fussed. I’d already eaten anyway we were just meeting for drinks,’ Olivia said slinging her bag into her shoulder just as easily as her white lies slipped off her tongue. Austin had to admit, the girl could act.
‘Oh okay,’ Y/N said, ‘see you later then.’
‘Yeah, see you,’ Austin said making Olivia smirk.
‘You two have fun,’ she called as she headed out of the bar.
Austin moved to tuck back into his food, but he got distracted as he noticed Y/N staring at where Olivia had gone when she felt his eyes on her she turned and said, ‘that was weird right?’
‘How do you mean?’ he asked trying to hide the panic inside him.
‘I don’t know just odd. I mean is she okay?’ she asked.
‘She’s fine,’ Austin said cursing himself as she looked at him sceptically. He sighed, ‘she just felt a little out of place.’
‘Why?’
‘Because…because she thought we were on a date,’ he said quietly.
‘Oh,’ Y/N said trying to ignore the way her heartbeat quicker as he said it.
‘I mean I told her it wasn’t…right?’ he asked.
‘Right,’ she nodded looking back to her meal she moved her fork around the plate awkwardly. Austin stayed quiet for a moment but he could feel questions bubbling inside himself as those feelings he didn’t realise he had floated inside him refusing to be resubmerged now they breached the surface.
‘I mean would you mind?’ he asked earning a confused look from her, ‘if it was… a date I mean?’
‘No,’ she said quietly, ‘I wouldn’t mind.’
‘Really?’ he asked his heart beating a little quicker.
‘Yeah, actually I was a little disappointed we weren’t on our own tonight,’ she said.
‘Well, we’re alone now,’ he said only now noticing that they were closer together than he had anticipated. He felt as though he was going to kiss her but before his brain could connect she pulled back with a cheeky smile on her face which widened as he looked perplexed.
‘Nice try Butler,’ she said, ‘but if we’re gonna do this I’m at least getting a proper first date out of it.’
‘Is that so?’ he mused pulling back.
‘Definitely,’ she giggled.
‘Well in that case what are you doing tomorrow night?’

A friend of mine saw one of the DWD screenings last year and gave some of their thoughts at the time. They’re back to talk more specifically about the film now that the trailer that dropped today. These comments are based on a screening, so please be aware some of this may have changed in the final cut.
SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT (I mean it, the trailer basically showed you the entire movie, so that’s what we’re discussing below).
Don’t Worry Darling Trailer/Screening Thoughts & Spoilers
Hey, Gina! Went through the trailer and, for the most part, the film is laid out in its entirety from start to finish. I took some screenshots to give context for you but just stick with me here. It’s been months, as I saw one of the earlier screenings, so I’m doing my best going from memory and my initial thoughts that I sent you last year.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is exactly how the film opens. The music started immediately once the movie began. They’re already in the middle of their small party, this is where we get introduced to the main group that Jack and Alice interact with throughout. I recall Olivia’s character entering in with the tray of drinks and being one of the first characters to have lines. Everyone is drunk and happy so it’s a fun opening with period music. And everyone is obviously dressed for the era.
Jack and Alice are extremely affectionate with each other right away. He really just has eyes for her in this scene so you immediately get the impression that they’re very in love. Rewatching the trailer, it hit me again how young they look in comparison to everyone else.
Tumblr media
While at the party, Jack asks Alice if she’d like to go for a drive. I vaguely remember they’re teased for leaving but it’s expected since they can’t keep their hands off each other. Harry and Florence had a very easy chemistry that made their scenes believable and I think you can see that in the trailer, especially in the opening when they’re laughing and holding each other. There was a quick cut from the part to the two in the desert in their car. Jack is spinning the car in circles while Alice is laughing and screaming.
Tumblr media
The next scenes showing Alice in a Jack’s white buttoned down shirt are right after. We get a quick montage to establish this is the routine the wives and their husbands go through everyday. You see Olivia’s character Betty also waving to her husband in their driveway as he leaves. They’re the neighbors of Alice and Jack. Alice is the only one dressed so scandalously, again continuing on with the theme of young lovebirds without a care in the world. I also remember Betty commenting on this. She comes across more sarcastic and teasing than the other women in their friend group, she’s always smoking or she has a drink.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When the men go off to their mysterious jobs, the women go into town via this shuttle that takes them back and forth through the desert into the shops where they have lunch, gossip, go to their ballet class, etc. You get the impression this is what they do every day. They don’t work just socialize.
Tumblr media
That night when Jack gets home from work, Alice greets him in the doorway with a drink and tells him she made dinner. I don’t remember the dialogue exactly but it doesn’t take too long before he begins to kiss her and push her back until she’s laying back on their dining table. His head goes under her skirt and there’s a shot of Alice’s face while he goes down on her.
Tumblr media
There is no nudity in the movie and this is probably as explicit as it gets.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There was a weird cut here that I hope they fixed because the party happens the next day maybe but I wasn’t sure about the passage of time. Right before we get into this backyard party scene with the majority of the cast, there is a scene with Alice and Betty where they’re gossiping and I remember Betty having another line about Alice and Jack always being all over each other. She asks about kids but Alice says they don’t want that right now. Again, I unfortunately don’t remember the exact dialogue anymore but the gist of the conversation is Betty agreeing with Alice about not having children because they’re annoying. Betty has a son and daughter of her own.
During the actual gathering, you see it’s meant to be a sort of company party being held by Frank and Shelley who are married (played by Chris Pine and Gemma Chan). The voiceover in the trailer during these scenes is the speech Frank is giving to all the people in attendance. Betty responds easily to Frank which led me to think she’s been there for awhile or her and her husband’s loyalty is very strong, in any case.
Tumblr media
Margaret is introduced, played by Kiki Layne. She has an outburst while Frank is speaking that startles everyone so her husband takes her aside and apologizes for her interruption. Betty makes another comment here, I don’t think she’s meant to be very likeable. Alice begins to take notice that something seems off.
We find out Margaret’s son has gone missing and there’s a rumor she took him out into the desert and did something to him herself.
Tumblr media
This scene is meant to be Margaret, her son and his toy airplane.
It’s a flashback that happens so we get a little more understanding about why Margaret is acting so strangely.
Once Margaret’s husband takes her aside and away from the gathering, Jack once again asks Alice if she wants to be alone.
Tumblr media
Almost forgot to mention. This man is seen there but we don’t find out who he is until a little bit later. It turns out he’s a “doctor” that’s called upon to treat the wives when they start acting hysterical.
Tumblr media
This is the scene in the trailer where they go into the house and find a room where they once again begin to kiss and Jack gets his hand under her skirt. Frank enters and watches them for a bit, Alice sees him but doesn’t stop Jack.
Tumblr media
Back to this. New day, same routine. Except now we have the weirdness with Margaret and Frank so the cracks are starting to show.
Tumblr media
While on her way on the shuttle, Alice sees a red plane that resembles the toy plane we saw in the flashback with Margaret and her son. As Alice watches the plane, it crashes and she of course freaks out. She demands the driver take her out to the crash site to see if there are any survivors but the driver declines by telling her he only goes into town and to their neighborhood. Alice is completely distraught and won’t take no for an answer so she gets off and starts walking in the desert by herself to hopefully get to anyone at the crash.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don’t remember the significance of the plane being revealed at all. I do remember that the disappearance of Margaret’s son is brushed off in a really strange way. It felt like a plot point that was shoehorned in last minute to give Margaret a reason to do what she does later but no one shows any real concern that a child has gone missing in their small town.
Alice doesn’t find the plane but she does see this dome-like structure at the top of a hill that seems completely out of place. she makes her way up to investigate. You can see in the first pic from the trailer, she’s sweaty and exhausted from walking all that way in the heat. She puts her face against the glass and loses consciousness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She has visions of being underwater, being groped by people in black rubber suits, a dilating pupil, and these burlesque dancers. They cut in and out throughout the movie so you see each vision more than once, especially when she really starts to unravel what’s going on.
Tumblr media
I didn’t see the next scene in the trailer but when Alice wakes up, she’s back at home and Jack is cooking dinner for her in the kitchen (the photo above is from set, but it’s what he’s wearing in the scene). He’s messing everything up and tells her he’s completely useless but he just wanted her to rest while he took care of her. Alice tries to tell him what she saw but he dismisses it.
He brushes off Alice’s worries and tells her it wasn’t possible she saw a plane go down. The gaslighting is intense from here on out and her breaks with reality are more frequent.
Tumblr media
There are a couple scenes in the ballet studio. Shelley (Gemma Chan) seems to be in charge here as she leads the class of women. In the very last still I posted, the woman with the pixie cut is Violet (I think she’s listed as Bunny on IMDB) played by Sydney Chandler. Her and her husband are new to the town so she joins the women here. There is really no development of her character apart from using her as a plot device to show how new members of the community are introduced. She has a look that’s very reminiscent of Mia Farrow in Rosemary’s Baby so her character seems interesting but it goes nowhere.
When Alice begins to have visions, one of them includes seeing Kiki Layne’s character smashing her head against the glass on the other side of the mirror in the ballet studio. Of course Alice reacts but no one else sees what she sees. Alice rushes home and this is where she sees Margaret on the roof.
Tumblr media
Alice calls out to her, Margaret turns to face her then immediately takes a knife out and cuts her own throat and falls off the roof. Alice is grabbed by the men in red overalls to be taken away. I think they just take her back home. Okay, here’s where my memory is fuzzy. I don’t recall if Margaret’s death happens first or if these scenes where Alice is cleaning and having weird visions happens.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think the egg scene happens the morning after the plane crash. And then she goes to ballet class and then Margaret’s death happensI remember Margaret dying early in the film and Kiki doesn’t have much screen time anyway.
The scene with Alice being pushed up against glass must happen after. There’s really not much more to it than she’s cleaning the window and the wall starts closing in behind her.
Tumblr media
Jack calls for the doctor we saw at the company party to come see Alice. He tells her he’s worried about her, especially after what she saw and thinks it would be for the best. So the doctor does a house call and again, both he and Jack dismiss Alice’s concerns about Margaret and what she saw in the desert.
While Jack and the doctor step aside to further discuss Alice’s condition, Alice sees a folder in the doctor’s bag that has Margaret’s name on it. Why the doctor is just walking around with another patient’s file? I’m not sure, they just once again needed something to further the plot along.
The still above is the folder Alice sneaks out of the doctor’s bag. I don’t think she finds out anything interesting, at least nothing that was memorable.
Tumblr media
The women continue to through their routine but Alice is becoming more unsettled. While they’re sitting in a shop, they hear a boom and Betty has the line in the trailer about the men getting work done. The woman in the still above is Kate Berlant who I recall being Bunny in the film. I went back to my initial messages I sent you when I got out of the film and you shared another friend that went and also said her name is Bunny so I’m thinking we got that one right. She’s pregnant throughout the movie so her character is meant to show the purpose of the wives.
There’s a big gathering coming up, I really don’t remember the purpose of it. It looks like a New Years Eve party but it ends up being a formal company party with a quick champagne glass strip tease from Dita Von Teese. Right before, Alice and Jack are getting ready for the event with Alice in the tub and Jack getting dressed in their bedroom. They’re talking and suddenly Jack pops his head in and says they should have a baby.
Tumblr media
Alice is completely taken by surprise since she’s told the women already that they don’t have plans for that now. She is left speechless, Jack completely clueless while he goes back to getting dressed. She sinks down into the water because this is yet another weird thing that’s come up. And from the trailer you can see her reflection doesn’t move even though she does.
This is something I didn’t understand. The film wants the audience to feel as unhinged and disturbed as Alice feels but the whole premise of the movie is that they’re in a simulation. So why are these moments allowed to happen? Is the program that flawed? It obviously happens often, we have to assume Margaret is not the first to do something drastic.
This wasn’t clear because the Victory program itself doesn’t get a backstory. I had this frustration through the end of the movie even after the twist is revealed. I didn’t get a lot of substance.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the party, Alice tells Jack she wants to go home but he tells her they have to stay for Frank. It’s a very glamorous event, but again it seems to just be a company party again?
Tumblr media
This is where we get the quick strip from Dita Von Teese. If you’re familiar with her champagne glass routine, it was the same one. Nothing too exciting there. Alice starts to have a panic attack so she goes to the restroom and Betty is there. Alice starts telling her something is wrong, that she’s being lied to, that she saw a plane crash in the desert and Jack isn’t listening to her.
Meanwhile, Frank is leading everyone is a ‘Victory’ chant and he invites Jack up on stage. I really don’t understand the purpose of this except to humiliate him, but Frank orders Jack to dance for everyone. It’s a really uncomfortable moment that was edited to cut back and forth between Alice in hysterics and Jack dancing like he’s about to pass out.
I get that Frank is the manipulator of the program so he’s very literally making a puppet out of Jack. What I didn’t agree with is it confused my understanding of their intention for Jack. Does he regret doing this? Are they trying to make him sympathetic despite how he’s trapped his wife in a fake world with him?Should I be feeling sorry for him despite his actions?
My feedback at the screening was I felt Jack’s motivation for his actions was incredibly weak. And thinking back on it now, I still feel that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Frank first arrives, he makes mention of seeing Alice and Jack in his house at the previous gathering. This gets her extremely angry and she doesn’t hold back either. They then have a very awkward dinner scene where Alice tries to expose Frank. When they sit down for dinner, Frank sits at one end and Jack goes to sit at the other head of the table but Alice cuts him off to sit there so she can square off with Frank. Jack then has to sit at one side which is why he looks upset in the trailer. And of course once Alice starts being very vocal about her concerns, he becomes humiliated.
This is where it goes into the montage of Jack signing up for the Victory program. There’s another voiceover from Frank explaining the purpose of the program. You get a really upsetting image of Alice chained to their bed while Jack goes back and forth between reality and the virtual world.
This isn’t explained either but the assumption is that when the men go to “work”, they’re still functioning in the real world. When Jack joins the simulation again, he lays down next to Alice who is covered in bruised and unresponsive.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We get back to the simulation and this is after Alice has been brainwashed of reprogrammed. She looks like she did before in her period dress and hairstyle.
Tumblr media
Betty greets her and says everyone missed her. Alice says she’s feeling much better and then the cycle begins again with the Jack going to work and Alice remaining at home as the perfect wife. Maybe this was fixed in editing but this was my biggest issue with the film. I didn’t understand how much time was meant to pass from the time Alice returns and when she starts having her breaks again.
When I watched, it felt like she just got home. Jack gets home from work in the afternoon and then Alice starts remembering everything again. It was very rushed with no explanation as to why she has the ability to break through the simulations controls. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Alice and Jack argue and she rightfully accuses him of trapping her against her will. He grabs onto her and tells her he doesn’t want to lose her and he’s sorry but he starts squeezing too hard causing Alice to panic. She tries to get away but he won’t let go so she grabs a heavy glass nearby and slams it over his head until he lets go.
Betty comes in from next door. The assumption is she must’ve heard everything but that isn’t properly explained either, she kind of just bursts in. She sees Jack and this is where she reveals everything to Alice. She tells Alice that she needs to get away now that she’s killed Jack. She says that Jack is dead both in the simulation and in the real world. Though, again, that’s not explained. Why would someone dying in a virtual world kill them? She tells Alice she chose this life for herself and she apologizes for lying to her. Oh, I forgot to mention that at the dinner before she was taken away, Frank told Alice that Betty told him everything Alice told her at the party.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alice runs out of her home and the neighbors start coming out and circling her. If you remember, there was a leaked video from this exact moment when Alice is attempting to escape. The street lights burst around her, the color and sky around her start to glitch. It’s not explained why she has the power to affect everything. Or maybe it’s not her at all and the system is just reacting to a user being killed? More questions.
Alice gets into a car and races away into the desert.
Tumblr media
I’m not sure why she understands she has to go back to the dome at the top of the hill. It’s mysterious and seems to have some sort of tie to the workings of the simulation but that is never explained either.
Tumblr media
Shelley is at home when Frank gets the call about what’s happened. He starts to order people to capture Alice before she can escape but Shelley stabs and kills him. Maybe to help Alice get away? So she must know what’s actually going on. But again, I had to connect a lot of dots myself. I don’t remember if Gemma had dialogue there but she was present at the dinner so she knows how Alice feels. That’s my best guess, she must know. Maybe she created the simulation with Frank? That would’ve been interesting to explore or reveal.
My question was: escape where?
Tumblr media
Alice crashes the car halfway up the hill so she has to run up the rest of the way.
Tumblr media
And she’s being pursued very closely. But she does make it up the hill and to the dome, just like she did the day she saw the plane crash. She has another vision of Jack who hugs her from behind. And he says the “always me and you” line while wearing that sweater I told you I don’t understand. 😂
But she steps forward right before the men get to her. You get a shot straight on of Alice’s face (which you can see on Olivia’a IG) and then it goes to black and you hear Alice take a deep breath. So the assumption is she woke up in the real world, I think. [of course, she’s meant to be in a coma in the real world, but who cares about closing lot holes or major details like that?].
This is why people, myself included, found the ending confusing. It’s rushed, as I said, and there’s no explanation as to why or how she escapes the virtual world.
I really didn’t like that they added that strange image of Jack hugging her at the end. Unless that was the simulation trying to stop her? [Were you supposed to feel sorry for him? Think he really loved her?] That’s what didn’t sit well with me. There were moments, like Jack looking uncomfortable while dancing or crying in the car, where I had that same thought. Are we supposed to sympathize with this person? Why??
Also keep in mind the version I saw was about 2hrs long. But it sounds like it may be about 90mins from the more recent screening since the person mentioned it was shorter than they thought it would be. That’s probably for the best. I didn’t see anything in the trailer that was new from what I saw. The coloring was improved, but that was the only notable difference.
DWD does not have a strong script, it benefits from Libatique’s cinematography. So the trailer looks very pretty. The song you hear is what Alice sings throughout the movie. She hums it in the teaser too. But it just looks pretty. Maybe cutting it down made it feel more coherent. We’ll know when it leaks.

Auntie Flo Duties
Pairing: Florence Pugh x Reader
Summary: Super protective auntie Florence houses her niece for the summer holidays.
| Fluff | 0.8K |
AC: Finally catching up to the requests I have, I hope you enjoy this! I used a random name for this so bare with me.
*This is a request from my old blog*
Tumblr media
“Auntie Flo!!” Arabella’s daughter called as she rushed inside. “What’s wrong love!” Florence dropped the wooden spoon she was using to make ice cream. “I just met the cutest guy! He’s oh my god! To die for and he was so sweet and his hair oh my god the hair!” she explained before running out of breath. You watched from the stool behind the kitchen island as Florence smiled and nodded as her niece told her about her day. You smirked to Florence every time her eyes flickered over to you.
“That’s great darl! I’m glad you had a fun day” Florence smiled to the young teenager.
“So, this guy” you started, Florence’s eyes snapping over to you as she shook her head lightly. “Do you think you’ll see him again?” you asked Laura. She smiled widely, “I hope so! he works at the bookstore in town” she replied. “Well did you buy enough books today?” you threw her a playful wink. Olivia caught on to your little hint, “I did not” she smirked then turned to Florence, “Auntie Flo could I maybe go back tomorrow?” she asked.
Florence smiled lightly and nodded, “sure, I’ll take you” she said.
“It’s okay Aunt, I’ll be fine but thank you” Oliva smiled before almost skipping to her room. Florence’s attention returned back to you. “Why did you do that?” she asked almost annoyed. “Do what?” you tilted you’re head to the left. “Encourage her to see some strange guy she just met”
You chuckled, “is this what it’s going to be like?” you asked.
“What’s going to be like?”
“Are you going to get protective every time she mentions anybody?”
“She’s my niece, I don’t need some guy or girl breaking her heart” Florence replied before continuing to make ice cream. You shook your head and wondered into the living room.
----
The next day the house was a little too quiet before you noticed that Olivia and Florence had gone out and left you and Billie alone. “Come on billie girl, let’s take you for a walk” you looked down at the pup who wagged her tail excitingly at the word walk.
By the time you got back you instantly were aware you enter the house at possibly the wrong time.
“Liv, I just want you to be safe” you heard Florence’s voice. “But I am Flo, I’m not a kid!” Olivia’s voice followed. You entered the living room just before an argument broke out. “I promised your mother that you’d be okay here for the summer” Florence said.
“Thank God, you’re here! Aunt Y/n please talk some sense into Aunt Flo!” Olivia looked at you with begging eyes. You looked between the two, “What’s the issue?” you asked.
“That guy I was telling you about yesterday offered to take me for a milkshake tomorrow, but Auntie Florence is being ridiculous and wants to come so she can spy!”
“Not to spy but to make sure you’re okay. You don’t know this guy” Florence spoke before you did.
“Okay, okay. Liv, can you please give me a moment to talk to Flo?” you smiled softly. The teen rolled her eyes and stumbled off to her room. You sat down next to Florence with a smirk. “Stop looking at me like that” she frowned.
“Babe, you can’t go with her tomorrow. I’m sorry but you’ve gotta let this one slide. She’s a teenager, she’s on summer break in the states, away from her friends in the UK. She’s excited. She wants a love story to tell all her friends about when she goes home” you explained.
“But”
“No buts baby. She’s going for a milkshake and you, and I will go for a spa day or something. She’ll be just fine” you kissed her cheek. “Plus, is this what you’re going to be like when we have our own children?” you smiled softly. Florence couldn’t hide the smile at the idea of having mini copies of you and her running around. “Loving and caring? Of course,” she spoke.
“Overprotective and pushy” you corrected her.
“I’m not overprotective or pushy!” Florence argued.
“She might even kiss him”
“Don’t!”
“Hug him even”
“Y/n stop!”
“Hold his hand?”
“OKAY! I get it, I’m a little” she paused and mumbled “overprotective”
“Sorry, what was that? I couldn’t hear you.
“Don’t make me say it again”
“He’s going to pamper her with kisses and there’s nothing you can do about it” you sang in a playful tone. Florence rolled her eyes. “I said, I’m a little overprotective!” she said before you continued. “There we go” you smiled. “Don’t smile at me like that” she groaned. “Like what?”
“Never mind” she shook her head. “Come here” you said before placing a kiss on her lips. “Momma Flo can be overprotective to a limit, I promise” you said against her lips. “What about momma y/n?” she asked.
“Somebody has to be there to calm you, don’t they?” you smiled. Florence kissed you once more, “a spa day huh?” she said as you both pulled away. “If you’re good” you winked before getting up and walking to Olivia’s room.
“If I’m good?” Florence shook her head with a smile.

Do you think Satellite is about Taylor ??
Definitely!
“You got a new life / Am I bothering you? / Do you wanna talk?”
I interpret this as him saying that she’s currently occupied in another relationship but he senses something is wrong and he wants to prompt her to talk.
“We share the last line / Then we drink the wall / 'Til we wanna talk”
So it seems like they hang out occasionally and they both need to get intoxicated before they can actually say what’s on their mind.
Both Taylor and Harry have mentioned that both of them struggle with communication issues in a lot of other songs about each other, so this is totally on brand for them to only speak their mind after getting drunk/high.
“I go 'round and 'round / Satellite”
So he’s either saying he’s beating around the bush to ask her something, or that he’s hovering around her concerned like a satellite to their world/planet.
Fun fact! The ‘Round and round’ line was also used in Taylor’s Style - “but I watch us go round and round each time”. And this song is definitely about Harry. So it’s possible that he’s referencing that line in Style.
“Spinning out, waiting for ya to pull me in / I can see you're lonely down there / Don't you know that I am right here?”
He’s saying that he’s waiting on the ‘outside’ hoping that she’ll finally lower her walls/boundaries and let him in. He’s also saying that he knows she’s lonely and that he can be someone to take away the loneliness.
“I'm in an L.A. mood / I don't wanna talk to you / She said, "Give me a day or two"
I read this as them still having communication issues, but this time it hints that she is willing to work on their friendship(?) by saying she needs some time off first before contacting him again (meaning their bond is progressing — there is hope after all).
“Right here, right here / Spinning out, waiting for ya / I'm here, right here / Wishing I could be there for ya”
This is the climax of the song, with the drop beat. This is him quite literally emphasizing that he “really wishes to be there for her!”
————
So anyway, what I got from this song that is it about a past relationship because he mentions a ‘she’ in the lyrics, and they still talk sometimes and see/hang out with each other but she still keeps him at a distance (that he’s wishing to get closer).
I can’t think of another public relationship that he has had that fits the bill for this song (not Olivia, not Kendall, not Camille). It’s possible that it *could* be about a private relationship but knowing Harry’s fans, he’d never be able to hide a relationship that long without people finding out. One night stands or hookups doesn’t count because the communication issues seems to be of a proper ‘relationship’ problem and not a fling (who needs to communicate in a fling anyway? Lol)
Also, he has written songs about Taylor even during the Fine Line era (see “Him”), so it’s not a stretch to say that he has songs about her in Harry’s House. And Taylor definitely still writes about him. In her latest song “Question…?”, she hints that they still have unfinished business.
The dots, I have connected it!

Olivia Benson Caring for a s/o w/anxiety
Tumblr media
FAM! This took way longer to write than I expected, but honestly, 99% of it is because it’s LITERALLY my life. I’ve been coping/dealing with anxiety/panic disorders for years and its terrible. So yes, the restaurant story is something that happened to me, darker alcohol WILL affect your nerves the next day, and for all of you out there who deal with similar situations, I see you, I hear you and I feel you. I know how terrible and tough this is and I love each and every one of you.
Also TW: Anxiety/panic attacks
***
The first time it happens is after a very long week of work with barely enough sleep to keep you going, the entire squad had been living off caffeine to keep going which only made the situation worse. You and Olivia had brought a couple of files to Barba for more warrants and end up getting into it with him, he in turn comes after you, criticizing your police work. You do your best to hold your ground but he can’t help but roll his eyes at the tremor in your lower lip, the glassiness of your eyes, you storm from the room and he mutters something that sounds like ‘pathetic’. Liv tells him to smarten up and not be such an asshole, finding you outside Hogan Place pacing, trying to burn off the adrenaline burning through your veins.
At first she thinks that you were just riled up, tired from the rough week, upset at the way Barba came after you, though he was always an ass, and you were usually able to spit back just as much fire as he was. She gives you a gentle kiss on the cheek, telling you to go home, try to get some sleep, take the weekend off.
The second time she noticed you’d been on edge all day, snapping a couple times you probably shouldn’t have, your hands were nearly shaking, your paperwork was a scribbly mess when it was usually immaculate. The squad headed out for drinks, you were beyond thankful to be done with the day, dropping down into a chair, swigging back a hefty amount of your drink. The bar was crowded today, loud, the squad was letting off steam, shouting over the music, Amanda started flicking bits of coaster across the table at Carisi, making fun of whatever story he was telling. It only took a second for you to down the rest of your drink, slipping away from the table, flagging down a cab. Everything rung in your ears, feeling completely overstimulated, you needed quiet, you needed peace, you needed darkness. You felt your body trembling the entire ride home, your heart palpitating way too fast, your chest constricted so tightly you felt like you could burst at any second. You hated being enclosed in the small space, hating more at the music playing from the radio, trying to take deep breaths, quickly tossing cash at the driver as you clambered out, thankful for the cold air.
When you got up to your apartment you burst into tears, finally letting out the tension in your body. You felt like you sobbed for hours, throat hoarse by the time you thought you were done, the need to move still driving through you, pacing back and fourth through the living room. Your phone pinged, Olivia, asking if you were okay. You replied with a simple “I need you here please.”
It felt like moments later that she was at your door, you buried yourself into her arms, a fresh set of tears throbbing through your body. She held you close, tight, the embrace that you simply needed so badly in that moment. Her lips softly meeting your head, she was concerned, but didn’t ask any questions until you finally pulled away, wiping your eyes and blowing your nose. A muted ‘Sorry’ coming from your lips, barely able to meet her gaze.
She guides you to the couch, asking if you want to talk, you apologize again, saying that nothing particular is wrong. It takes a minute, her soothing squeeze of your hand makes you meet her eyes, admitting that you deal with anxiety. It’s something that sprouted unexpectedly, you’d never dealt with it in your adolescent life, and it was always worse when you were low on sleep, had caffeine, or the day after a big drinking night. You got overstimulated easily, and tonight it was just too much for you. As much as it wreaked havoc on your body you preferred not to take the Ativan, attempting to calm yourself down, doing breathing exercises, cooling your body down, something as simple as jumping jacks to burn off the extra adrenaline. You knew things could be a hell of a lot worse and you didn’t want the Ativan to lose it’s effect when you had an actual panic attack.
The first time you’d had a panic attack was your last year of college, you’d been out late with friends, having downed at least a full bottle of red wine, despite having to open the restaurant Saturday morning. You felt groggy and on edge all morning, your body shaking with energy, the hungover part of you divulged in greasy food and a Venti espresso filled coffee to give you the energy to get through the day. You felt light headed, shaky, nearly like you couldn’t breathe. It was Pride, the restaurant would be FULL this afternoon, so you mentioned to your manager that you weren’t sure if you could make it through the 10 hour shift, knowing something was wrong. It was halfway through taking payment for a table that you stumbled to the hostess stand, a simple “I can’t breathe.” before you had to sink to the floor, scared and barely able to see. You’d already taken a Benadryl and your inhaler. The hospital wasn’t able to figure out what was wrong, but upon doing more research over mental health you figured it out yourself months later.
You’d much rather take the Ativan in something like that than the little anxiety bursts you experienced.
Olivia’s quick to take this into part of her daily life. She doesn’t overbear you with questions, but she’s going to be checking in with you, a soft smile on her face, a little squeeze to the shoulder.
She always makes sure your medication is refilled before it really needs to be, and that it’s in your bag at all times. It can only take a second for something to trigger you, and she wants to make sure that you’re always taken care of.
She knows that sometimes you need her embrace like nothing else, and sometimes that physical contact will make things horrifically worse, always asking for your permission before she touches you.
She comes to learn that temperature is a big thing with anxiety, with the higher heart rate you’re burning up. She’ll always drag you outside in the cooler months, letting you breathe until you calm down, despite the fact that she’s freezing. In the summer months she always makes sure the ice cube tray is full, holding one against your neck or wrists, cooling down your blood, reminding you that it’s going to be okay.
Olivia encourages you into a physical activity, knowing that morning runs will help you burn off the extra adrenaline coursing through you, she enlists Amaro to teach you some boxing techniques, taking out your emotions that way.
You very well know what she’s doing, but you won’t admit it to her, simply coming home to her with a smile on your face, kissing her softly as you tell her how much you love her.
Olivia’s always going to keep a careful eye on you, watching for signs that she knows mean you’re slipping into a state of overstimulation, making sure you’re getting enough sleep, getting enough healthy foods, not using alcohol to cope (or that if your are that you’re onto things like vodka soda and not scotch or red wine ‘cause they trigger it more). She always makes sure to fill your coffee with half decaf, knowing how the caffeine affects the jitter in your chest.
Most of all she never judges you for it, she accepts it as part of who you are, and you remind her of how thankful you are of that every night. Her heart swells with the fact that she’s the only person you want to be around when you’re going through an attack, she knows it isn’t ideal, but knowing she’s the only one allowed to touch you makes it known that you love her, and only her. ___________________________

Lara Croft: The Art of Virtual Seduction is the ultimate cringey relic of late '90s game advertising 💭 I can honestly say that nothing about ‘90s Lara Croft ever gave me a boner, but the novelty of the character design did make me play the original game for an hour or two more than I would have if Lara had been replaced by a more masculine set of triangles.

227 - “Arrangements”
Beginning / Previously /Next
((Mutual Friend - Jessie Reyez))
For easier reading, please see transcript below:
W: *deep yawn* Sorry.
P: So, what time did Obie get in?
W: He landed about 9:30, but we didn’t get home until about 11.
P: *smirks* That wasn’t my question…
W: *both laugh* Ew! None of your business!
P: *still laughing* Come on! I am officially living vicariously through you and Dev!
W: Now, that’s just sad.
P: Tell me about it. I haven’t had a drought this severe since sophomore year!
W: Ali—
P: Ali has a girlfriend. That ship has sailed and sunk.
W: What about Kareem or better yet; Drew?
P: Dirk’s Drew? *Walker nods* What about him?
W: You two seemed to have had a nice rapport going in Sulani.
P: I mean, he’s cool… but I think Olivia or Zhi are more his taste, to be honest.
W: You sure about that?
P: No. But that’s not a road I really wanna go down. Right now, I just wanna get through Harvestfest with the Lane-Dreamer clans.
W: Remind me again how you got stuck with that?
P: Hell, if I know. But I’ve already rsvp’d at Dev’s insistence. Should be fun though. Her brothers fly in Tuesday night. Ooh! You should come have a drink with us! Bring Obie.
W: Can’t. We fly out first thing Wednesday; and I mean, first thing! *Penny chuckles* He insisted we go early to get an extra, “full” day.
P: It’s cute how much he loves your family.
W: Yeah, and a little annoying. I think they like him better. *smiling to herself*
P: Nervous?
W: *confused* Should I be? *Penny shrugs, shaking her head noncommittally* They’ve already met and absolutely love him.
P: And Xander? I assume he’ll be there…
W: *softly* Probably… who knows? If I call him, he sends me to voicemail.
P: When was the last time you spoke?
W: Actually spoke? *Penny raises an eyebrow* He’ll text from time to time… like my birthday. But we haven’t actually spoken since Winterfest.
P: Seriously?! *Walker shrugs uncomfortably* Are you ok?
W: Does it matter? *Penny sighs* Look, if it were normal circumstances, I’d be pissed! But they’re not. I woocked up… and now he’s struggling.
P: He’s a big boy, Wawa—
W: I know that. But this isn’t all on him. I dropped a bomb and ran—
P: Which he decided to detonate—
W: After I handed him a lighter! I’m not saying it’s not entirely my fault. I know it’s not. But a major part is. *awkward silence* I just wanted to touch base before we got out there—
P: Why?
W: You didn’t see him at Winterfest! He was gaunt… drinking too much… and now from everything I hear… I don’t want to blindside him.
P: He’s not an idiot. I’m sure he knows you’re coming.
W: Even so—
P: No! Walker, listen… I know what he meant—means to you. But there’s nothing you can do right now. This is one journey, that he’s gotta take on his own. If he needs you, he’ll say so. But the fact that he’s not reaching out, is all you need to know for now. Focus on your life and your man. You can’t afford a repeat of last Winterfest and expect Obie to be ok with it. Xander will be fine with or without you. And though it sucks, you need to be prepared for the possibility that it might just be without you.

Chapter #6
Summary:
“So, I’ll text you my address…” Stiles says trailing off as he takes a step back, not taking his eyes off Derek. Derek also takes a step back. “I’ll come pick you up and…” Stiles smiles. “We’ll go out for dinner and…” “And…” They both are even more red now, but their smiles haven’t waned a bit. “Hurry up, Daddy! You gotta go get even more beautiful!”
Sunday starts off the same way but with more teasing from the team and Stiles is sure they’re having a competition to see who can make him turn the reddest. He’s just glad that Olivia didn’t hear them. She’s his priority always, first and foremost. She is with Aria, a friend from school, today but will be dropped off in the afternoon.
Erica and Stiles set up the schedule for the day and she puts Stiles on shift lead which he’s more than fine with. He loves going up on the courses and doing safety briefs but sometimes it’s nice to stay inside for a while.
It’s around lunchtime and Stiles is down at course five and six, when Erica radios about needing Stiles to take his break. “No one likes a hangry Alpha, Alpha.”
Stiles rolls his eyes but radios back. “On my way, Catwoman.” He playfully shoves Jackson before making his way up the hill, following the path up to the cabin and heading into the den where he plops down onto a chair and starts chugging his water.
Erica peeks her head in and snorts. “I mean I knew you were thirsty because I heard how you looked at Derek but you gotta eat too, Batman.” She easily dodges the empty water bottle he throws at her and cackles.
It’s while he’s on his lunch break that he sees Derek again. They don’t speak and Derek doesn’t see him, but Stiles sees Derek’s bracelet indicating he’s there for the adult course. Stiles’s heart beats faster and he hurries into the cabin. “Hey Catwoman?” he says with an extra sweet tone.
“Yes Batman?” she replies in an equally sweet tone.
“Can I take Der—I mean that group?”
She smirks, giving him a knowing look and signs off on the switch. Kira is more than happy to switch with him.
🐾╰☆╮🍃╰☆╮🍃╰☆╮🐾
Despite the fact they’re on vacation Derek decides to return on Sunday and though Stiles remains professional his heart speeds up. Though it doesn't look like Derek’s son, Zeke is there today. Derek wants to go through the adult course which Stiles is hesitant about but it’s not his decision. He does keep a sharp watch on Derek though.
He hears cheers at the end of the zipline for course two and can’t help but grin seeing that Derek’s son is holding up signs to cheer his daddy on as a younger woman, who must be the aunt, watches him protectively.
He can’t help but overhear the woman as she pesters Derek. “So? Anything?”
Derek’s ears twinge pink again and he gives a one shoulder shrug. “Well, he’s keeping a close watch on me but that doesn’t mean anything. I probably just look terrified and he’s just doing his job.”
Zeke speaks up next. “No. Daddy, that's not true. When I talked to Mr. Stiles, he promised to watch over you too and that if you got hurt, he would come save you too.”
Stiles quickly averts his gaze when Derek looks over at him. “I know kiddo. Shall we head to the next one?”
Cora notices her brother’s disappointment but also sees the way the instructor looks at her twin. “Yeah. We still have courses three, four, five and six left.”
Stiles waits for Derek to start the next course before sighing wistfully. “He’s right, Derek. It’s not true.”
🐾╰☆╮🍃╰☆╮🍃╰☆╮🐾
Aria’s mom, Karlie drops off Olivia around 2 pm. Stiles heads up the hill to the cabin to greet her. “Hey, angel,” he says with a smile. “Did you have fun?”
Olivia grins and hugs him tightly as she nods, her pigtails bouncing up and down with her head. “Yes! Lots of fun. I got Aria to try watching Star Wars. Now she can do Halloween with us too! She wants to be Padmé Amidala. I told her you could help with the pretty dresses she wears and that you would do her hair.”
Stiles chuckles and nods at Karlie. “Thank you for watching her and bringing her here. I really appreciate it.”
Karlie smiles. “It’s my pleasure. I also may have been intrigued and decided to watch the movies along with them.”
Olivia giggles as Stiles scoops her up. “See, Daddy? More fans of Star Wars!”
“I see. Shall we head inside, cub?” he asks while tickling her sides.
“DADDY!!!” Olivia shrieks trying to get away from his tickles with a huge smile on her face as they bid Karlie goodbye. Stiles doesn’t notice the face that loses its smile as he watches.
🐾╰☆╮🍃╰☆╮🍃╰☆╮🐾
Derek watches as Stiles picks up a girl who is probably seven or eight years old and it makes him smile. He has a thing for guys who are good with kids. He has been going over and over the question he wants to ask Stiles because really, what’s the harm in asking him out? However, when he sees the woman standing with Stiles, he feels his gut churn and clench as the smile slips off his face and a scowl forms.
Cora finds him a few minutes later. “So? What did he say?”
Derek glares at her. “He didn’t say anything because I didn’t ask.”
“WHAT?!” she snaps. “Why not?” she asks, lowering her voice.
“Because he has a girlfriend. Maybe a wife. I mean I haven’t seen a ring but it’s not like he would wear it while working considering he has to use his hands a lot.”
Cora’s brows furrow in confusion. “Why do you think he has a significant other?”
Derek groans. “Because I just saw her. Okay? She’s got auburn hair and she’s gorgeous. I mean she’s not my type but for all I know Stiles is straighter than an arrow.”
“Not possible. Not with the way he looked at you, Der.”
Derek rolls his eyes.
“I’m serious! How can you be so sure they’re together?”
“There was a little girl with the woman who ran up to Stiles and called him daddy.”
“Oh. Well, that doesn’t mean that they’re together. Maybe she is a babysitter.”
Derek shrugs and looks over to where Stiles is talking with his daughter, both of them wearing smiles and talking animatedly. “Maybe but it doesn’t matter. Let’s just go.”
Cora crosses her arms, stares at her brother for a hot minute and then turns to go to the nearest instructor, who just so happens to be Jackson. “Excuse me?”
Jackson looks over and nods. “Yes?”
“I was wondering something.” She gestures to Derek who is still watching Stiles. “That guy there is my brother and he’s being all sulky because he’s pining over him,” she says, gesturing to Stiles. “However, despite my attempts to get him to just ask him out he has yet to do so. Then my pining brother sees a woman with him and has now decided they must be together.”
“I see,” Jackson drawls with a smirk. “So, you want to know whether Alpha is taken then huh?”
Cora blinks and then nods. “Yes? Assuming by Alpha, you mean him.” She points to Stiles again.
Jackson chuckles and crosses his arms. “Stiles is as single as can be. That’s his daughter with him right now and the woman is Karlie. She was babysitting Olivia, his daughter, today and just dropped her off. Karlie’s daughter, Aria, is one of Olivia’s classmates.”
Cora’s face lights up and a mischievous grin forms on her face. “So that’s a yes then?”
“That’s a yes. Tell him to ask. Alpha is totally smitten.” Jackson then turns back to the courses, his eyes following a couple of teenagers who have been rowdy.
“Excellent,” Cora says, rubbing her hands together in the way a cartoon villain might before marching back over to her brother. “Der-Bear?”
Derek startles, his face flushing deep red. “I wasn’t staring.”
Cora snorts. “And I’m the Queen of England. You have five seconds to go ask him out or I swear to all hell I’ll shave your eyebrows off. Again.”
“You don’t have the manners of a lady let alone a queen.”
“Derek Spencer Hale! For Peter’s sakes ask the man out!”
She gives him a shove and Derek stumbles but rights himself before he faceplants. The whole thing does catch Stiles’s attention though which moves the red flush from Derek’s cheeks to the tips of his ears. “Hi?’
Stiles tilts his head and gives him a smile. “Hey,” he replies.
Olivia squints her eyes. “Who is he, Daddy?’
“Oh, this is Derek.”
Derek gives a little wave. “Hello.” He wonders to himself how in the world he’s supposed to ask the man out in front of his daughter. That doesn’t seem like a very smart thing to do.
Olivia gasps. “Oh my gosh! You’re Derek? I’m Olivia! Daddy told me about you and said that you were the best wolf the entire day on Friday.”
Stiles’s cheeks darken and he glances at Derek. “Yeah. Well, it’s true.”
“Thanks.”
Erica is watching this painful conversation for less than a minute before she pops her head outside. “Hey, Mini A! Come help me with the wristbands?”
“Oooo. Can I daddy please?”
Stiles breathes out in relief and sets her down tugging her pigtail gently. “Go for it.” He watches her run into the cabin and adjusts his radio. He starts chewing his lip before glancing at Derek again. “So, you came back?”
Derek nods. “Yeah.”
“Had fun then I guess.”
“Yes.”
“Man of few words I see.”
Derek nods and then rubs a hand down his face. “Most of the time but not always. Sorry just—” he stops and takes a deep breath. “Do you have a minute?”
Stiles opens his mouth but Erica interrupts. “He has thirty of them.”
Their gazes snap to the cabin window where they see her wave before looking back at each other. “What she said.”
“Good. I—There’s—I wanted to—Can I ask you something?”
Stiles quirks a brow. “You just did.”
Derek smiles. “Touche. I have a question I want to ask you.”
“Shoot,” Stiles says, cocking his hip to the side with his arms crossed, his body relaxed.
Derek takes a minute to just admire the man before him. He’s strong. He’s authoritative. He’s fucking gorgeous and he’s—“Would you go to dinner with me?” he blurts out.
Stiles’s eyes widen, making him look so much like Bambi and his mouth drops open. Derek starts cursing Cora in his head. It takes Stiles a minute to answer because he’s so surprised but then a huge grin breaks out on his face even as he gets more and more flushed. “Yes.”
“Yes? You’re saying yes? You’ll go to dinner with me?”
Stiles nods looking like a bobblehead. “Yeah. Yes. I—That—Please.”
Derek’s stomach feels full of butterflies, and he smiles, revealing the most adorable bunny teeth Stiles has ever seen. “Wow. I can’t believe you said yes. I’m—I was—I can’t wait. When are you free?”
Once again Erica jumps in before Stiles can. “He’s free tonight. If he says he’s not he’s being a naughty Alpha.”
Stiles glares at her. “I have Oliv—”
“She’s coming home with me and Boyd.”
Olivia peeks her head out and smiles. “Erica is gonna make mac n cheese, with creamed corn and hot dogs. Boyd is gonna make cookies and he said he’d show me how he makes a wooden wolf!”
Erica smirks at him with a ‘You’re welcome’ expression and Stiles relaxes. Knowing Olivia is going to be looked after makes it easier to agree.
Isaac jogs over and smiles. “We got the closing stuff handled, Alpha. I bet if you leave now you can get in a shower, get changed and head out in plenty of time.”
Stiles is overwhelmed and a bit fondly annoyed with his pack. He looks at Derek. “Sorry they tend to do that sometimes.”
Derek hasn’t stopped grinning. “I don’t mind. I’m still stuck on the fact that you said yes.” He pulls out his phone. “I have to let Cora know that—”
“Cora knows and has already taken the liberty of booking a hotel suite for Zeke and myself,” Cora interrupts as she sends a wink Derek’s way, making him blush.
Stiles chokes on the water he was drinking. “Little presumptuous there, don’t you think?” he says, staring at Cora.
Derek looks at him apologetically and feels embarrassment churning in his stomach. “Just ignore her please?”
Erica cackles. “Like we all don’t sense the UST between you but there’s no pressure, Batman.” Stiles looks at her to see a soft smile on her face. “Just go have fun. Okay?”
He smiles softly at her. “Okay.”
Derek smiles and gestures to his car. “I’m gonna go get ready and I can come pick you up if you want. Then I can drive us?”
Stiles nods. “Sure. I have to hang my gear up and then I’ll head home to get ready. I can give you my address.”
“You need to exchange numbers with him first, Daddy!!” Olivia calls out.
“Ah. Yeah. I knew that,” he mumbles, his skin a pretty shade of pink that Derek wants to nip at. They exchange phones, input their numbers and trade them back.
“So, I’ll text you my address…” Stiles says trailing off as he takes a step back, not taking his eyes off Derek.
Derek also takes a step back. “I’ll come pick you up and…”
Stiles smiles. “We’ll go out for dinner and…”
“And…”
They both are even more red now, but their smiles haven’t waned a bit.
“Hurry up, Daddy! You gotta go get even more beautiful!”
Stiles and Derek startle, having gotten lost in their own little world. They exchange adorably awkward waves before turning to go. Derek rushes to his car, glad he and Cora drove separately and heads to their hotel to get ready. Stiles hurries into the cabin, a bundle of excitement and nerves coursing through him.
Once he’s got his things, he kisses his daughter’s forehead. “I love you, angel.”
She smiles and hugs him. “Love you too, Daddy. Have fun with Mr. Derek!”
Stiles makes his way to his jeep, grinning like a loon and laughs at the howls that sound behind him as he pulls out of the parking lot.

The one where Denali learns something important
Thursday rolled around and Rosé‘s pink monster of a leather jacket still hung over the bedframe of Denali‘s bed. Neither of them had addressed it since the weekend, let alone spoken a word to the other in general. But Denali had caught herself several times spying the dining hall or the green hills between the main building and the Lake house for a pop of electric pink at least twice. It turned out that the McCorkell sisters rarely spent time on Campus, only really sticking around for their classes. And when they were, she would usually find them in a group of three, sometimes joined by a few others, but always secluded. Either in one of the corner booths in the Dining hall, the very popular ones cause you could sit sheltered from the long tables filled with chattering students, or, on sunny days, the three colourful heads of hair could be spotted down by the lake, under the willow tree where a few tables and benches were assembled. Those were the times when other students would swarm around them like eager little worker bees, offering their services to the three queens. Especially Jan could sometimes barely make her way down to the lake without a whole pack of her classmates swarming around her, the poor girl too polite to turn them down, smiling at her sisters apologetically every time. Lagoona usually just laughed, shooing Jan‘s classmates away with a have of her hand like a swarm of mosquitoes. Rosé obviously never failed to drop a snarky remark, clearly having her fun with the whole thing. It didn’t go past Denali how none of Rosé‘s classmates ever dared to even step in her way. While Lagoona and Jan often struggled to make their way through the hallways, crowds seemed to part for Rosé wherever she was. It was a phenomenon freshmen and upperclassmen participated in alike.
To Denali, it looked downright ridiculous. The oldest of the McCorkells got treated more like a deity than a person. It was hard to tell if people parted crowds for her out of adoration or fear. Either would be an absolute joke.
A few days ago, as she sat with Olivia in the empty dining hall, escaping Jasmine and Daya fighting over the space in their closet to have a moment of peace an calm, Denali brought the topic up.
„Have you ever noticed way everyone treats Rosé and her sisters like royalty? It’s so weird!“
Olivia looked up from her notes, genuine surprise written all over her face. „What do you mean?“
Denali cocked her head to the side. „Liv, you’ve been here over a year longer than me, you can’t tell me you haven’t noticed the way everyone turns into little minions the moment one of them enters the room!“
„Oh“, Olivia‘s eyes widened in disbelief and she dropped her pen, „You don’t know?“ She folded her hands to rest her chin on them, taking a deep breath as if she was about to pack out an entire storybook. Denali took a sip of her coffee and listened adamantly.
„Have you ever watched Downton Abbey? That show with the rich English people and the funny accents? Rosé‘s dad plays one of the Scottish Lords in the early seasons. Overseas he’s like, a big deal.“
Oh. That’s why the name had sounded so familiar!
„Anyways, that’s just Rosé‘s dad. Their mom divorced him after less than a year. She’s like, a big name at Versace. Ask Gigi or Nicky, they’ll know more about that. Anyways, Lagoona‘s dad is some country singer from Tennesee, and Jan is the kid of the current husband, some other guy at Versace. That’s why they all have different last names!“
They did? Denali had only looked up Rosé in her class lists. Out of pure boredom of course …
„Anyways“, Liv continued, lowering her voice as a group of seniors walked past them. „They‘re like the deal. Absolutely loaded. And not just that. All three of them went to like, crazy expensive private schools and stuff. Their mom basically pays half the school‘s bills with her donations and she’s also in their former alumni program. They’re legacy. Of course everyone wants a piece of that.“
Lost in thought about that, Denali breathed out harshly through her nose. „That must suck.“ Maybe it wasn’t Rosé‘s fault that she was so insufferable, maybe she had to be. At least this explained the girls opulent living situation. With a family history like that, a flat downtown was probably nothing to them. Denali shook her head. „Then it’s honestly just sad how everyone sucks up to them. No wonder they’re barely on campus.“
Olivia shrugged, „They’re probably just careful, especially after last year …“
„What?“, Denali raised a brow, „What happened last year?“
Suddenly, Olivia got all fidgety, her fingers tugging at the elastic of her notebook, lifting it up to snap back, up and snap. „I don’t know if I’m allowed to say…“ She mumbled, suddenly so quiet that Denali barely heard her.
„Liv!“, she whined, „You can’t leave me in the dark like this! What do you mean?“
Olivia looked up, her eyes meeting Denali‘s. Her expression was a single plea for understanding. „Listen, I am really not in a position to talk about it … If you really wanna know, ask Rosé or Mik …“
Denali huffed, a hand running through her hair in frustration. She was not going to force it out of Liv, not when her nervous pout basically begged her to drop the topic. But that left only two options: The girl that hadn’t taken a single situation Denali had seen her in seriously or her roommates boyfriend, who she had only ever heard about but never seen so far. The odds really weren’t on her side with this one. Shaking her head, she finally let Olivia off the hook, grabbing her books to shove them down her bag. „It’s almost five, lets bring our stuff to the dorms before the Club meeting.“ The smile on Olivia’s face was obviously a silent thank you.
Despite being one of the School’s most renowned professors, Ms Monsoon always managed to make her presence feel more comforting than intimidating. Her fiery red hair was pulled up into a fancy updo, a few curls framing her inviting, rosy face. Her dress had the same deep colour as the peppermint tea she had prepared for them, making sure everyone got at least a cup of it every session, as well as providing fresh sugar cubes and biscuits every week. The smell of peppermint filled the sun kissed room and paired with the unique decor, the Young Philosophers Club always felt like a little magical bubble, shielding the girls from the outside world every week for a full hour.
Ms Monsoon always made sure everyone was comfortable, welcoming both Rosé and Jan with a wide smile and signature giggle, expressing how happy she was about the new faces. Jan’s eyes had shined like a kid‘s on Christmas morning, declaring how excited she was about being there. Rosé had been a little less smooth with the sudden affection from their professor, awkwardly smiling and nodding before dropping down onto the same chair like last time. If the way her hand grazed Denali‘s as she reached for a biscuit was intentional, she didn’t let it show. It was still enough for the hairs on Denali‘s arms to rise skywards. She almost rolled her own eyes at herself. It was just a subtle touch, Rosé‘s tattooed skin grazing hers for less than a second! Nothing more.
After Jackie had recapped what they had done last week during Ms Monsoon’s absence, the ginger haired professor nodded slowly.
She let out one of her hearty, signature giggles. „You girls are so well behaved. Back in my day I wouldn’t even have showed up.“
„All because of Jackie“, Nicky joked, tongue between her teeth in a grin, „She has us in an iron grip.“
Jackie‘s mouth fel open in offense, shaking her head at the French girl. „She‘s overexsaturating! All I did as president of the club was remind you that we’re still meeting up! And anyways, you as deputy-“
„Girls!“, Ms Monsoon couldn’t contain another giggle, „as much as I appreciate your deontologic approach to your role as club leader, that is not what I wanted to talk to you about today. Unless you want to, of course.“
Willow let out a sigh, her nose hidden deep inside her teacup, midway of taking a sip. „Deontology sucks.“ Crystal nodded eagerly, as well as Nicky. „Preach!“, the blonde whispered, her accent always thicker when she lowered her voice. Denali herself leaned back in her chair, eyes wandering back and forth between Jackie and Willow. This was certainly going to be interesting …
„How can you say that? Deontological ethics are the best moral code a person can submit to. Humans need a set of rules, just look at literally every law. How else are we supposed to function in a society?“
Setting her cup down, Willow smirked. It was always like this. Willow was quiet and laid back for most of the session, until someone stroke a topic she was passionate about. And then, she showed them all why she was here. Denali couldn’t help but admire the small honeyblonde.
„First of all“, Willow said, taking a break to snack another biscuit before continuing, „Societal ethics are a whole other topic than normative ethic, stay in your lane. Secondly, in my opinion, deontology is nothing more but avoidance. You are doing things because the rules tell you to. Let’s say“, her green eyes wandered over the group of girls, landing on Jan, „Let’s say as Club leader you have to test all of us on our knowledge, okay? And whoever ends up with the worst score has to be kicked out. Now Jan here really tries her best, but she recently went through a bad breakup and it really messed her up. Fuck that guy, completely breaking her spirits. Of course, she does horrible in your test, she is a complete mess at this moment! But you are our president, and the rules say the worst score gets kicked. Would you really kick out poor Jan, worsening her situation, just because the rules say so? And even if you do, can you do so with a good feeling?“
„Of course not, I’d feel horrible“, Jackie had both of her hands wrapped around her cup, hanging onto every word Willow was saying.
„Well, if you truly felt like deontology was the way to go, you’d feel just fine, happy even. You followed the rules, no problem here! See what I mean?“
Denali noticed Ms Monsoon nodding in approval, staying silent to let the girls come to their own conclusion. This was where the philosophy professors real magic happened. Somehow, she always managed to lead them in a specific direction just by dropping the right hints in what felt like an absolutely irrelevant moment of smalltalk. And then, as soon as one of them took the bait, she leaned back, enjoying the group heatedly discussing what she had taught them. It was unlike any teaching method Denali had experienced back at home and it had made her understand quickly how the school had gotten the reputation it had. They truly shaped the future generations into calculated, sharp minds like Willow. Transferring had been the best decision Denali had ever made.
As her thoughts had trailed off, the room had fallen silent. Jackie obviously contemplated what Willow had said, the latter stirred her teacup and most of the others simply watched them, impatiently waiting for the next move.
But to everyone’s surprise, neither Willow nor Jackie broke the silence.
„I agree with Willow“, Rosé had her arms crossed defensively, her body still very much demonstrating how she didn’t want to be here, but her voice was calm, almost quiet. And she didn’t even tell a joke … intruiged, Denali couldn’t help but watch her as she spoke. „The rules don’t matter when people get hurt. What we really need to ask ourselves is can we live with the consequences of our actions? And can we live with the consequences of the things we don’t do?“ All eyes were on her, but Denali didn’t miss the warning glance Jan shot her sister. What had happened last year …
Ms Monsoon clapped her hands together before Denali could trail off again. „And this, girls, is a Teleologist to the bone.“ She smiled at Rosé, the girl trying her best to return it, scratching the back of her head with one hand. „If you say so …“
„Honestly“, now it was Nicky who spoke, „I don’t think either of these are the right ways of thinking. Sure, we cannot blindly follow a set of rules, but we also can’t make every single decision out of our gut.“
Jan nodded quickly, joining in. „At the end of the day we still live together, and a set of basic ground rules is just necessary for that to work out!“ Her round, hazel doe eyes searched for Jackie‘s, who shot both the younger girl as well as Nicky a small smile.
Ms Monsoon emptied her teacup, putting it down onto the saucer with a loud clattering noise. „Now girls“, she said, the smile on her face so proud, it almost had something motherly, „I hate to interrupt you, but since our time is almost up, I would really like to remind you to empty your tea. If any of you want them, you can take the biscuits too, my wife absolutely despises them …“
Even as Denali made her way down the hallway, her bag shouldered and pace trying to keep up with Olivia, her head was still in the backroom, replaying what Rosé had said. Something told her that it was important, that she should store this information in the back of her mind for god knows what.
She once again was pulled from her thoughts when a figure came up behind her, white Doc martens synching their steps with hers.
„You know, if you want to keep my jacket you could just say so. No reason to steal it like this“, the grin on Rosé‘s face was entirely too smug for Denali‘s liking. Olivia glanced over at them, shooting a grin towards Denali before fastening up her steps, leaving the two of them behind her. Damn her!
Denali rolled her shoulders, facing straight forward. „I don‘t, I just tried to wash out that horrible pink stain, but turns out it just looks like that.“
Rosé threw her head back, sending her hair flying, genuinely laughing. The sound pulled a smile from Denali before she could help herself.
„You know what“, Rosé said, „If you want to give it back, do it on Saturday. Goona just recorded her first song in a studio and we’re celebrating with some people.“ Her eyes trailed up and down Denali’s body, causing shivers to creep up her spine. Frustrated by her own physical reaction, Denali threw her bag over her shoulder, always keeping up the cool Fassade.
„Wear something blue“, Rosé grinned, her fingers ghosting over Denali‘s lower back for just a split second. It almost went by unnoticed through the fabric of Denali’s sweater. But then she felt a short squeeze, visibly gasping at the touch. But before she could even muster up something to say, the taller girl fastened her pace, strutting towards the entrance hall. The same hands that had just ghosted over her back now lazily waved at her.
„See You then, Nali!“, Rosé threw a wink over her shoulder one last time before disappearing around the corner. Denali stared at the turn where she’d disappeared, her lower back tingling just enough to make her face heat up.

I tried to make this more realistic. I guess youCould say it’s my guess on what might happen on the next episode but. ..:Idk if anyone will like it but I had fun doing it. It’s my first time writing a fic so lmk what ya think
BENSLER
She heard Soft knocking on the door. She grabs her rifle and starts
Making her way to the door rather quickly, she checks through the peep hole and her heart skips a beat.
It’s Elliot. . .
Olivia opens the door
Olivia: “Elliot!”
Elliot: “Can I come in?”
She sets her rifle down behind the door and opens it further for him to enter
Olivia: “Um yeah, of corse”
Elliot enters the room and takes more than a few steps in. Olivia shuts the door and when she turns around it’s more obvious to Elliot she’s been crying.
Olivia: “what uh, what are you doing here Elliot?”
Elliot: “I just got off and fin called me and filled me in on whats been going down. Why didn’t you call me?”
Elliot takes a few steps back towards the door where Olivia is
He cups her cheek examining her bruise, lightly caressing the outline of it.
Elliot: “who did this to you. Why?”
Olivia, damn strong, trying not to cry. Watching and Feeling him look her bruise up and down, letting him..
Olivia: “it was Oscar papa who put out the hit order. The gang leader of Bx9. A gang in the Bronx that forcibly recruits teenage boys by raping their mothers and sisters. I collared two of their big players this past summer and for some reason they are coming after me now.”
Olivia still feels where his hand was on her face. It’s been over a decade since he has shown any concern about her. She hates how his affection soothes her anxiety like medication. Quicker even.
Elliot: “Where is Noah?”
Olivia walks over to the kitchen to get some water. Grabbing two glasses from the cabinet. Elliot follows her trail
Olivia: “Noah is asleep in his room. He was at his half brothers house the past several days but he begged me to let him come back home since Oscar papa is in custody. “
Elliot: “wait so you already got the guy?”
Olivia: “yes but we aren’t safe here.”
Elliot: “what do you mean, what else is going on?”
Olivia drinks her water. She’s starting to get anxious again.
Olivia: “Oscar papa said as long as he is locked up we won’t be safe. …..”
Elliot looking interested in what else she’s about to say.
“I don’t know what kind of pull he has from the inside… and i don’t know if it’s in my head or if it’s real but it feels like someone has been following me. To The grocery store, to Noah’s dance practices, on my way to work“
Olivia’s eyes start to collect tears again and it’s breaking Elliot
Elliot: “no, it’s not… it’s not in your head. I’m going to stay with you and Noah so you can get some sleep tonight”
So many thoughts are running through Elliot’s head about what he’s going to do to fix this. He rubs the back of his neck. He sees the “oh shit” look on Olivia’s face after his last statement and his stomach drops. Realizing this isn’t his home or his family to defend. And …he didn’t even ask.
Olivia: “you don’t have to do that Elliot. I don’t need you to protect… “
he cuts her off right there, but he would be more concerned if she didn’t fight it.
Elliot: “I know, hey… “
he steps closer, puts his hands on her shoulders and slides them down her arms.
“I know you don’t need me to. I want to”
They are staring at each other. She’s trying to think of something to say back but she can’t find a reason why he should leave. He no longer has a wife or small kids to go home to. Eli and Bernie are still staying with Kathleen, Noah is asleep, Elliot hasn’t been drugged and as far as she knows he isn’t undercover
His touches are slowly bringing her walls down. She has been so strong and guarded around him. He hasn’t seen her alone outside of work and away from her son so he is taken aback by seeing her emotional. It’s a glimpse of the past, a piece of his old partner he hasn’t seen in over a decade.
Olivia: “well I haven’t had a decent sleep all week.. how do you deal with all of this Elliot?…”
her words are getting harder to get out.
“…Noah is scared. He watched two boys only a little older than him attack me. I don’t know what else I could say to reassure him we are going to be okay “
Elliot: “it’s only temporary.. okay? …”
Elliot fills the small gap between them, stepping even closer
“… We’re going to figure out what’s going on here and take it One step at a time.”
Olivia smirks briefly, she knows Elliot is quoting her from when she was comforting him the morning Eli was missing
Olivia: “he’s just such a good kid, he has been through enough already. He doesn’t deserve this.”
The tears are rolling down her cheeks now Elliot grabs her hands and pulls one up at a time to hold him around his neck. Then he takes one hand at a time to her sides. He pulls her in closer.
Elliot: “come here…”
Elliot starts to rub her lower back during their embrace. Olivia’s walls are completely down in this moment. It’s the first time since Elliot’s return that she felt herself let go around him. And did it feel good.
“…You don’t deserve this either Olivia. Or any other bad thing that has happened to you since I left. And I want to hear all about it if you’ll tell me.”
Olivia takes in a deep breath and loosens her arms from around Elliot’s neck, he is still holding her waist. She slides one hand to his face and cups his cheek. She kisses his other cheek so softly. They are still so close together yet their grips on each other have softened. She presses her forehead into his. A silent and intimate thank you.
Elliot pulls back a little to look at Olivia. She looks at him as well. His eyes moving back and forth between hers then she looks to his mouth and back up to his eyes. They start to inch closer together again. So In synch. this time for a kiss on the lips.
Door creek…..
Noah: “Mom?”
