hi! my placements are Libra sun, Leo moon, Venus in Virgo, Taurus rising
and my friend's are Capricorn sun, pisces moon, Capricorn Venus and cancer rising
what can you assess out of this pairing?
thank you 💗
PATIENCE will be needed on both ends. For sure. You both just have a different perspective on life itself, but it doesn’t mean one is right and one is wrong, you both can respect the others views. Lots of intellectual stimulation between you both. You may tend to go down rabbit holes in your 1:1 conversations and discuss really deep topics freely.
The Capricorn may sometimes however feel as if the Libra is judging them slightly, however the judgement isn’t necessarily coming from a place of distaste, but more so the Libra persons natural instinct, (combined with the rest of their placements obviously) is to make a judgement on all things. The Capricorn is not wired as much in that way, and instead approaches things with the drive to want to dig deeper and understand the “why” or the “how”. This kind of keeps the Libra person to take a minute to understand before they pass a judgement on things. On the flip side, the way the Libra is with there Virgo placements, it helps the Capricorn learn to be a little bit more practical in their approaches as well, and not get too wrapped up with what is beneath the surface and instead, see things as they are on the surface.
When it comes to love, you both go in with a more level head. It’s not common that either of you fall HARD for somebody without calculating it in your heads first. Both can however, still wear their emotions on their sleeve. When a Leo moon is angry, they’ll wear it on their face for the world to see. A Pisces moon will relive a situation over and over in their head and think of all the different ways they could have handled the situation differently to avoid feeling a certain way.
What else were you looking for me to dive further into?

wild how we got tom and harry hugging, laying together, caressing each other's hands in 7 seasons of voyager. But in 7 seasons, multiple movies, and whatever Picard season 3 was, data and geordi never hugged once. Not ONE time. Like

Tom Paris had to plan how to build The Delta Flyer (a large shuttle craft) for years. Paris, Tuvok, Seven of Nine, Harry Kim and B’Elana Torres spent days on the construction working flat out, around the clock.
How did Geordie build a whole damned starship in his spare time in a matter of days? The Enterprise D is the size of a city. They literally have shipyards where they build these giant starships- we’ve seen them in episodes with Utopia Planitia. Hundreds of people working for years to fit every bolt, every bulkhead, every panel, every turbo lift.
And Geordie was able to replicate it all perfectly, in his spare time, by himself, in just a few days? The Enterprise is at least several hundred times bigger than the Delta Flyer. Where were you hiding this humongous side project, Geordie? Why didn’t anyone notice this starship as big as a city in your pocket? Where did you get the materials? Where’d you get the warp core? Who helped you construct it all, or did you do it yourself? Because my man, if you built a fucking giant STARSHIP by yourself, in just a few days, in your SPARE time?? I mean you spent most of your days scolding your adult daughter about how she didn't measure up to you, so how did you possibly have time to build a dumbass ship?
If you managed to build a huge star ship in a matter of days by yourself, you should be the new Prime Minister of the Universe. You are the most powerful human being out there. That's like Q levels of magic.
Cos the entire Voyager crew was really tired working together flat out to build the Delta Flyer- a shuttle— and it still has to do test flights and corrections. The hull even breached on their first outing. They had to upgrade it several times.
How did you happen to know you needed to recreate your old starship to begin with? Again, Q levels of competency, there. Is Livingston the fish in Picard’s ready room replicated, too? Picard's archaeology books? His Shakespeare compendium?
How many test flights did you take out this giant star ship on in the couple of days you were working on this thing? You even had time to get the carpet right? And recreate the plaque? And do all of this without anyone noticing.
Even Data working at super-human speed couldn’t build the Battle Bridge or a shuttle the size of the Delta Flyer in a few days by himself- but you built a whole ass giant ship??
It took over 1000 people to run this giant ship on a normal day. And even with it fully automated, the idea that 7 people could run the entire ship into a battle?
CRUSHER: It's all perfectly logical to you, isn't it? The two of us roaming about the galaxy in the flagship of the Federation. No crew at all.
PICARD: We've never needed a crew before.
At least in ‘Remember Me,’ the idea of such a small number of people running a giant starship was preposterous- laughable. But apparently you can run a ship the size of a city with 7 people when the fuel is nostalgia.
Oh and after he’s rebuilt this perfect Federation ship, they’re not going to put it into service? They just rechristen the Titan instead? Or was it just so poorly put together that just the bridge was perfect and the rest was held together with duct tape? it really could only handle that one little battle? In which case, shouldn't you have spent more time making sure the ship was space-worthy instead of replicating and laying the fucking carpet??
The fact that Picard writers/show runners thought this was passable and not laughable is sad. audiences swallowed this bullshit is just pathetic, and shows how low the bar is for quality as long as nostalgia is the fuel.
Fuck. This. Show. Fuck this nostalgic impossible bullshit. Fuck this magic replica of a giant starship. Fuck Picard. Fuck that carpet.

Hey so when you are a long time big mess, organizing and cleaning means that sometimes you find things that you forgot you had.
Sometimes that thing is a late 1800s saxophone.
Tumblr media
And sometimes it's a bottle opener in the shape of a lightsaber hilt.
Tumblr media
Both of these things are equally as useful to me.
Which is to say, not really at all.

Crash LaForge for the 100 Wednesday challenge
(The @100wednesday challenge sounded interesting so I decided to try it. It was difficult fitting my premise as a drabble but I finally got it)
“Cadet LaForge, I’m denying you conn certification. Don’t worry. There are many other fields out there—Engineering, Operations…”
“But sir. Flying a starship is all I’ve ever wanted! Please, give me another chance!”
 “You’ve already your second chance!”
“I know! But I can do better! Please!”
Tom saw the desperation in her eyes. He had a dream like that once—the Navy-- and he remembered how it felt when it was dashed.
“Okay. One more. But I better see significant improvement. And I don’t just mean not crashing. Anyone should be able to do that!”
 “Yes, sir. Thank you!”

Watching Picard right now 🍿🥪
Thinking about how La Forger are a family that work in the federation for generations, mostly engineers and captains.
But Silva is a pilot. Technically a "black sheep" of the family, although I doubt George would ever have any kind of hate for his daughters.
I know the episode talk about this. But I just came to realize almost every pilot in star trek is come kind of black sheep.
First example that came to my mind is Tom Paris
Just thinking about this

I was curious about which Star Trek shows had the most human vs non-human characters, so I made this graph. I counted all major characters plus characters who were in at least 10 episodes of each respective show (with a few exceptions for incredibly minor characters who are technically in more than ten episodes but have barely any/no lines). A full list of characters included is below the cut.
TOS:
Part/Non-Human: Spock
Human: Kirk, Mccoy, Scotty, Uhura, Sulu, Chekov, Chapel
TNG:
Part/Non-Human: Data, Troi, Worf, Guinan
Human: Picard, Riker, La Forge, Crusher, Wesley, Yar, Pulaski, O’Brien, Ogawa
DS9:
Part/Non-Human: Kira, Odo, Quark, Jadzia, Rom, Nog, Garak, Dukat, Worf, Weyoun, Martok, Leeta, Ezri, Damar, Female Changeling, Winn
Human: Sisko, Bashir, Jake, O’Brien, Keiko, Kasidy, Ross
VOY:
Part/Non-Human: Torres, Neelix, EMH, Tuvok, Kes, Seven (part Borg counts as not entirely human to me), Seska, Naomi, Icheb
Human: Janeway, Chakotay, Paris, Kim
ENT:
Part/Non-Human: T’Pol, Phlox, Soval, Shran
Human: Archer, Reed, Tucker, Sato, Mayweather, Forrest
DIS:
Part/Non-Human: Saru, Tyler (debatable but I’m counting him as partly non-human), L’Rell, Book, T’Rina, Nhan, Rillak, Linus, Zora, Adira (again, debatable, but they’ve got a symbiont so they’re not entirely human to me), Gray
Human: Burnham, Stamets (complicated case but I counted him as still human), Tilly, Culber, Lorca (mirror universe characters are still human, I think), Georgiou, Detmer, Owosekun, Rhys, Bryce, Cornwell, Airiam (she’s still human), Pike, Jett, Nilsson, Pollard, Vance
PIC:
Part/Non-Human: Picard (for part of the show at least), Elnor, Soji, Narek, Seven, Laris/Talinn (I am just pretending they’re the same character for simplicity), Jack (I guess???)
Human: Musiker, Jurati, Rios, Adam, Riker, Crusher, Shaw, Sidney
LWD:
Part/Non-Human: Tendi, Shaxs, T’Ana, Barnes, Kayshon
Human: Mariner, Boimler, Rutherford, Freeman, Ransom, Billups
PRO:
Part/Non-Human: Dal, Gwyn, Zero, Rok-Tahk, Jankom, Murf, Hologram Janeway, Diviner, Drednok
SNW:
Part/Non-Human: Spock, Una, Hemmer
Human: Pike, La’an, Uhura, Chapel, M’Benga, Ortegas

i've been reading a lot about fundamental differences between homer and tragedy and one interesting thing is the preoccupation of tragedy with the conflicts of women's loyalties to their natal and marital families, which manifests in so many tragedies putting women in situations where they are forced to choose sides in conflicts between their husbands/fathers/brothers/sons (eg medea chooses her husband over her father and brother, antigone chooses her brother over her future husband and potential children, procne chooses her sister and father over her husband and son, creusa remains dedicated to her father and his lineage instead of her husband and his). women are supposed to forge chains between men by their marriages and tragedies are so often interested in what happens to those connecting links when things go sour.
and that's just totally absent in homer, there's never any tension between icarius and odysseus or between eetion and the house of priam or between autolycus and laertes or between tyndareus and either paris or menelaus and agamemnon. most of the time either father-in-law or son-in-law is totally absent from the narrative. there's nothing that would put a woman in the position of mediating between the family she was born into and the family she married into.
but you know who in homer does experience this tension between loyalty to natal and marital families? hector. in iliad 6 andromache begs him to adopt a more defensive strategy because she and their son will be totally lost if he dies, and hector speaks of having to fight for his father's glory and his own. andromache and astyanax will suffer if hector dies well and bravely fighting for a lost cause, but priam will benefit. hector even acknowledges that after troy's fall it will be andromache who suffers most, not priam or hecuba-- for them the memory of hector's glory will be a consolation, while for her it will only be more pain. hector is torn between his father and his wife, the family he was born into and the family he has created through marriage.
