#STOP DOING THAT
Text
An important message to heterosexuals, listen carefully: you do not, and I repeat do NOT, have to marry someone you actively dislike, don't enjoy spending time with and/or whose hobbies you despise. You do not have to do that!! stop doing that!!!

IMPORTANT PSA.
Do not call a trans woman a sissy.
It is demeaning, invalidating and disrespectful.
Stop it.

I love fics that deal with Dick's trauma but I HATE when Jason feels like he has the right to force Dick to come to terms with it/act/speak up. Dear lordddd he just straight up takes away Dick's choice just to be seen as some kind of savior. Hate that lots don't do that PLEASE

"I'm sorry, I have a question"
"Sorry to disturb you but can you explain this to me"
"I'm sorry but that's my seat"
You apologise for just existing because you think you don't deserve to.
What is so bad that you think you've done which countless people before you have not already?
You've made mistakes in the past but at some point it's time to let it all go.
We are humans, making mistakes, learning from them and trying to rectify them is our whole deal.
Then why do you do this to yourself?

men who go "fuck!" and stalk around in disappointment at gender reveals where it is revealed they are having (another) daughter, in front of his already existing daughters and pregnant wife, i hope your wife leaves you and gets a hot millionaire second husband and they have a bunch of sons together and all of your disappointingly female daughters call him dad ♥️

Notes for long-form stories, gathered from fandom
If your story depends on the Unbreakable Bond between your two protagonists, you’d better be prepared to back that bond up with your writing. Some meaningful conflict between them is fine, but your baseline should be a consistent, healthy, and strong commitment between them. Otherwise you risk writing a tragedy by accident.
Related: Probably have more than two main characters. Yes, even if it’s a romance. Extended main cast means you have backup to handle the plot, audience sympathy, and/or moral support for your protagonists during periods in which said protagonists are having Problems. If you have two characters and one relationship, the audience has very few reasons to remain invested, and you can’t safely play around with any of them.
It’s okay to gradually add characters and/or bring them back from minor appearances, but if you want to bring in a character replacement after you’ve already been running, um... be prepared for audience backlash.
Related: If this is a TV show and one of your leads wants to leave, consider just ending the show. I mean it. Really.
If your characters are heroes, let them get some love from the people they save. If they exist in a community, let the audience see community. This provides audience catharsis by letting the characters earn the in-universe appreciation that the audience knows they deserve, and validates the audience’s love of the characters by showing that the characters love the Ordinary People around them.
Related: Just, in general, let your characters grow and learn and gain things—bonds, people, goals, a future. Unless, again, you’re writing a tragedy on purpose, in which case let them circle the Merry-Go-Round Of Pain as many times as you want.
