hii! honeslty just curious, I read/watched kuroshitsuji AGES ago and I don't think I've finished the manga anyway, does grell go by she/her?? I vageuly remember ppl headcanonning them as enby though iirc in canon he's a guy?

Your tags peaked my curiosity, I haven't seen any Kuro content in a hot minute, but I remember it being the absolute must watch in my peak anime watching years lol And I absolutely loved the manga's artstyle

in canon grell is a trans woman, yana toboso has said something like "grell is a man with a woman's heart" ages ago and sometimes around 2014/16 had tweeted something about wanting to be more careful with her representation of people like grell in the future, don't quote me on that thought because i only read that tweet once and only remember reading a shitty screenshot of a translation of that interview where she allegedly said that.

i can however show you this:

it's from a bonus chapter (after chapter 108) about the popularity polls (it's a very convoluted non canon chapter) but it's one of the most blatant example of her being trans.

there's also the way she constantly refers to herself as a "young maiden" ect. idk how it goes exactly in the og but in french they translated it so grell always refers to herself with feminine terms while everyone else misgender her including the narrator. she very consistently reaffirm herself as a woman through every single ones of her appearances, like it's a thing she very much does, every single time she's on screen.

i haven't watched the anime in forever (cause it's kind of a disgrace and insult to the manga lol) but if i remember properly (which i mostly likely don't) they did omit/lowkey censor some of grell explicitly going "i wish i had been born a woman/could have been able to carry children" when she first properly introduce herself as a shinigami & the other half of jack the killer. (the anime also really did lean a lot more into the pervert queer caricature whereas in the manga she's given a bit more dignity, especially the further the story goes. though that might be my own impression and maybe it didn't change that much i just love her a whole lot).

also because i have to, please forget the anime (the first two seasons that is) and read the manga first and foremost because oh boy, what a disaster the anime is (nostlagia and atmosphere wise it's entertaining, i really love the op & ed, but it just, i just cant man it doesn't even compare to the manga at all). only watch book of circus -> book of murder -> campania movie -> the new private school arc that's coming soon (idk what they called it) after reading the manga.

#undescribed #she's my problematic girlie and i love her so much. there's subtext too for her transness but that goes in spoilers territory. otherwise sh #'s been VERY blatantly trans since her introduction it baffles me ppl refuse to accept it (not noticing it is fine cause when i was a kid i #didnt really get it because i didnt know trans ppl where a thing but one day it all clicked into place yknow)#unrelated but it kills me that sebastian is only a transphobe because it's 'historically accurate/what a good butler of his position #should be' he only says that because 1 he's a bitch 2 he doesn't like grell 3 he gets a kick out of playing the good butler role #i hate/love his stupid fucking ass i need to punch him so bad. he's so annoyingly funny i can't stand him. he's just awful and having a #grand time what an ass. back to queer ppl there are other in the story like nina hopkins being a lesbian (HEAVELY implied) and doll's whole #thing. it's one of my favorite manga ppl should give it a try just dont look at the anime pretend it's not there pls

When I was more active on Tumblr I role-played exclusively as Edmund Pevensive from Narnia, but recently I wanted to branch out to include some Harry Potter Role Playing, mainly Draco Malfoy & Sebastian Sallow - but I'm also keen to dive back into Edmund too.

also I feel like it was a common preconception back in the day that ciel's naturally harsh and has to hold himself back when dealing with lizzy, so he couldn't be his true self around her yada yada but I really think it's the opposite?? ciel's so soft-hearted actually (the whole curry arc wouldnt have happened if he wasnt such a pushover for soma). he doesn't want to be harsh with her, or anyone he likes really, such as the servants or his friends, but usually its his circumstances that make him so sharp all the time, like being endangered or all his unresolved trauma. he's not harsh when he has peace of mind!

This fic started as just a dumping ground for all of my sad-fucked-up-self-destructive-Anders feelings (hence the title) and then I showed it to @lesetoilesfous and her cheerleading turned it into like... an actual fic with an outline, which is now probably about 1/2 written? but currently slow progress.

It's a post-DA2 fic with the premise that Sebastian captured Anders shortly after the end of DA2, and proceeded to hold him prisoner indefinitely while carrying out some fairly nasty psychologically-targeted vengeance. And then a year or two later Fenris agrees to do Sebastian a favour and check out the rumours coming out of Haven, and Sebastian offers to send a (much-altered) Anders along as backup. Which leads to Fenris trailing a very messed up Anders across half of Thedas while trying to 1. figure out what happened to him, 2. fix it, & 3. not spontaneously combust from how much of his own history this is bringing up.

It's a lot of me poking at the idea of trauma and how it's painful and heartbreaking and sad but also annoying and inconvenient and socially awkward and inclined to make you have stupid blow-up fights because you were talking about different things. And also me indulging in Fenris as a cynical knight in shining armour, riding to the rescue half against his will, even as he tries to convince himself that he's probably misreading those red flags, and everything is probably fine actually (it's not. he knows it's not.) And also Anders being a stubborn determined bastard who has recovered from spending a year in solitary confinement once and will do it again, he just. needs a minute.

"Anders hesitated, shifting some of the sticks to expose a bed of coals.

“I don't know that I'm the best person to ask,” he said. “You're talking to someone who ran away from the circle for the first time when he was thirteen.” He poked at the coals, shifted the food a little closer to the heat. “But no,” he admitted, “for the most part they're not. They're not pleasant. I have no doubt that those children have seen friends killed by templars, or branded, or raped, or driven to suicide. But those are outliers, the ones who get unlucky, or are prone to making trouble, like me. For most mages it's...easier. Still miserable, but better than freezing to death on the streets.”

He settled back on the dirt, watching the shimmering coals. Fenris turned the words over in his mind, considering.

Three years ago, he might have told the mage to count his blessings; that there were many who froze to death in the streets and had no other options. And it was true that there were many in Thedas for whom shelter, however unsafe, and food, however conditional, would seem a luxury.

But even as he said the words, he would not have meant them. They were the words of the magisters who had argued that slavery was a public good, because without it the streets would be crowded with beggars. A barb thrown out to get a rise out of the mage, because that was what they did. Because the rhythm of jab and counter between them was familiar and comfortable and because the hunger in Anders’ eyes when Fenris argued with him made him feel like his good opinion was worth fighting for."

I keep seeing this post circling around with people in the tags being like "WhILe tHeN wHy iS hE pLAyInG TrUmP tHeN!?" And like.

Y'all know an actor playing a person doesn't mean they condone their actions or have decided to actively support them now, right?

Like you can argue the ethics of making a biopic about the Orange Menace, that's fine and honestly a discussion I think should be had, but like. I can't imagine it'll frame him in a positive light. And I can't imagine anyone that's not The Daily Wire or Ben Shapiro would attach themselves to something that would. And like I'm not saying Sebastian is perfect or anything, he's done some shit that's a bit ~spicy~ and I can't say I condone, but like. Idk it seems a little shit to judge him for a movie that hasn't even come out yet because he's playing a dude he's actively spoken out against when he talks about him. Like, imo that speaks more to the fact the movie is gonna be critical of Trump. Idk, just my 2 cents

((ooc note: this is open to any character present all guin's bday ball who wishes to jump in on this! this one im intending to make a bit plot-based, as i wanted to write out roderick allowing the astairans to make offerings...and then the publically receiving the "shocking" news that the staffords might be bastards soon after just bc its high drama and i thought we might all have fun w it!!))

The Great Hall seemed to glow. Decorated by the Varmonts in gold and in bronze everywhere and limned with torches and roaring fires in each of the halls many hearths, Eilia was struck with the strange impression that she stood within a jewelry box, gems and metals catching the light in a strange dark-light transmutation that left all the world half kaleidoscopic in glowing shadows of amber and black.

Drums boomed a sonorous rhythm as the people of the Varmont Empire danced their controlled, static dances, and Eilia found their motions were more trancelike than joyful. Perhaps, she thought bitterly, joy would indeed be the next thing Roderick would outlaw. It did, indeed, seem to be the kind of bent his mind took. Still, Eilia shook her head clear of these thoughts. When she approached the golden thone, she must inhabit another character, entirely. She would not be the scorned, conquered queen but, rather, the grateful guest. Her quest was too important to fail.

In place of the high wooden seat of Eilia and her father and his father before them, carved with stars and moons, tangled amongst a world of faux bois foliage, Roderick had got in a garish polished-gold throne that soared up and. up and up. She thought he must have plundered the wealth of half the world's nations to build his golden throne, alone, and Eilia's lips pressed together in disquiet she refused to speak. Still, this too she pressed aside as, approaching the throne, Eilia caught Aria's eye. The time had come.

Previously, she'd been speaking with Sebastian and he was even now speaking in hushed tones to his father. Eilia held her breath and she prayed.

The Emperoro's eyes were sharp and grey like ice and, as they glanced past his son towards her, Eilia straightened. There was a calculating gleam in Roderick's eye, and Eilia could not trust it.

"What do you suppose he will say?" Eilia quietly asked her sister. "Ought we to have a...fall back position, should he refuse?"

ive been wanting to do a full playthrough of all the dragon age games with my canon girls and get my canon set up all nice and neat before dreadwolf comes out but thats hard because. my canon has morphed so much from what the games ALLOW you to do. i have two wardens. hawke has two love interests simultaneously but her true love is someone you cant even romance. rosie is the closest to inquisition canon but i have extensive ideas about what her post-Inquisition life is like that i just know dreadwolf is gonna mess up. wahhhhh

#to clarify #iris and thalia are my two wardens and theyre both elves but thats where the similarities end #thalia hates being a warden and pretty much hands the role of 'team captain' to iris without too much fuss #so i consider iris' decisions to be my canon ones for keep purposes #hawke has a thing going with anders and sebastian simultaneously (everyone knows about it and its cool)#she loves anders but decides she cant be with him anymore after the Incident so she runs off to starkhaven with seb #but deep down she and varric are soulmates and it takes her being left behind in the fade for her and varric to realize this #and rosie goes thru a deep depression after trespasser #i imagine her magic is weaker bc of solas taking the mark; that direct connection to the fade empowered her magic but now that its gone #she feels like she's weaker; like trying to read with a blindfold on or play chess with her hands tied behind her back #so thalia (!) visits skyhold and agrees to train her in Rogue Stuff so she has a backup if her magic fails her in a fight #while she's there carver shows up and joins the Seekers; stuff happens and he and rosie become friends #inspired by all of this rosie decides to mount a rescue mission to get hawke out of the fade #so rosie varric carver thalia and cassandra all rescue hawke and its great and whooo #hawke and varric reunite and tearfully (awkwardly) confess their love for eachother #and nothing really changes in their relationship except they kiss now bc they were already soulmates!!!!#what 10 years with no new DA games does to a mf ^
