Does the public of Paris know about kwamis? I just ask cause I wonder how wildly out of character the kwamis are in fanfics in the Miraculous world?
Like I'd love to imagine how people would write Plagg in the billion Chat Noir x Reader fics there have to be. Or Tikki in the many, many Ladybug-centric fics.

Daily Fics
(Fics I read throughout the day yesterday and enjoyed)
A Werecat in London by ThornQueen ( @i-am-thornqueen )
After an unfortunate encounter with an akuma while in London, England on a business trip as Adrien Agreste, Chat Noir is forced to deal with an extremely unexpected, and furry, consequence. Can Ladybug help him return to his normal self? Or will he be stuck for the rest of his life getting in touch with his wild side?
It’s done!! ♪☆\(^0^\) ♪(/^-^)/☆♪
(Oh my god this beast was started in 2016)
Well, if you haven’t managed to read this one yet, if a magic heavy, cursed werecat Adrien, season 1 inspired, core four centric fic that earns its mature rating sounds up your ally, give this a shot.
Spoilery-ish pic for chapter 37
Tumblr media
Adrien looked up at them in awe. “Is this what you really look like?”
“No,” Tikki replied, her words forming from a mouth full of light. The ground shook. Adrien felt her speak inside of him, deeper than his bones. “These are the closest forms that you might understand us as.”

“The Text Message”
Note: This is my first time in a long while attempting to write a fic, so I apologize for any mistakes I may have in this. I just couldn’t get the idea out of my head once I wrote my “Tikki, the Lukanette Shipper” dialogue. It just felt too short, so I wanted to expand it a little. (Do keep in mind I’m probably not going to write much. I prefer drawing, personally.)
Anyways, on to the fic~ ;P
______
Today was just one of those days. Those of which Marinette was exhausted from everything going on in her life.
Chat Noir's advances. Lila's lies. Alya and the rest of her friends with their whole "Getting Adrienette Together" project. Normally, Tikki wouldn't have minded the latter, since it was to Marinette's benefit. However, it was beginning to feel hopeless. Or rather may as well have been hopeless since it first began.
Adrien never noticed any of her holder's advances, no matter how obvious she may have been. Tikki felt it was about time Marinette gave up on him. She knew how much it tormented Marinette knowing that her feelings would never be reciprocated.
It pained Tikki to see Marinette so upset. She knew exactly how the girl was. Friendly, clumsy, selfless, always there to help whenever possible... Whereas Ladybug was composed, confident, always thinking on her feet as to how to defeat whatever Akuma came her way. She was creative and used whatever she had at her disposal, it was what made Marinette special.
Therefore the kwami put it upon herself to help ease the girl's pain. And who better to go to than Luka? The sweetest boy who was always there for her partner, no matter what problems arose in the girl’s life.
She glanced over from her spot at the bedside table, to the dark haired girl curled up on her bed, trying to find a sign that she was alright. Upon further inspection, the kwami could make out the outline of dry tears on Marinette's cheeks. She could hear her holder's breathing becoming a bit more even, but not quite. Tikki thought she deserved rest after the day she's had, but not like this. Marinette deserved better than to cry herself to sleep most nights.
All of this was enough for Tikki. She couldn't stand for Mari to be this miserable any longer. And so she decided to make her way towards the girl's phone and text the only person who could assuage her feelings. Luka. He's always managed to be there for her when it mattered most, so Tikki had the utmost faith in him to do as he always did.
'I know in time she'll be thankful I did this.' Tikki thought to herself as she sent out a text to the guitarist.
For now though, she knew she and Marinette needed some rest. She'd done what she had to, and would deal with whatever consequences came her way in the morning.
_______
"Eeek!" Marinette shrieked, completely flustered at the contents on her phone. She couldn't remember how or when the message could have been sent out.
“Hey Luka. I haven’t exactly been feeling my best lately and was hoping maybe you’d like to join me at the bakery tomorrow morning? As friends! I mean it doesn’t have to be a date, unless you want it to be?”
She blinked repeatedly as she reread the text. She couldn’t believe she actually did that. Wasn’t she asleep at the time? Or perhaps Marinette was never fully asleep and just sent it out while she was half conscious? No… That didn’t sound like her at all.
The only other being in her room at that time was… Tikki.
“T-Tikki, what’s the meaning of this?” The flustered girl questioned her, all the while pointing to her cellphone.
“What? You needed a slight push in the right direction.” The ladybug kwami casually commented. “At least this one returns your feelings wholeheartedly.”
"Th-That's not the point!" She exclaimed towards her kwami. "You know fully well that I'm pursuing a different boy."
"Yeah… The wrong boy." Tikki responded. "I mean just because he lent you his umbrella that one day after school, because you forgot your own, doesn't warrant your crush on him. He would have done that for anyone."
"B-But he-" Marinette started, but couldn't continue due to Tikki's interruption.
"Was desperate for friends!" The kwami went on. "Still is by the way he acts. That's why he doesn't help you stand up to Lila. Why he lets her get away with all that she does… He doesn't even defend you to Chloe when she hurts your feelings! Is he really the type of guy that you want? Because the way I see it the blonde's not worth your time."
Marinette sighed. Trying to come up with something… anything to prove Tikki wrong. But how? She was right… the boy hadn't shown any romantic interest in her, no matter what she did.
"Tikki, look… I understand what you're trying to do, but… My heart chose him." Marinette started. "He doesn't see it yet… B-But Adrien…"
The ladybug kwami tuned out of whatever Marinette tried to argue. Honestly… She loved her holder, but was she serious about this? Marinette's so-called "love" for him was extremely unhealthy… And Tikki could see that every single minute of every day.
"Over Luka, the only guy who actually gives you the time of day? Who's always there when it matters? Who returns your feelings?" Tikki argued back, so done with Marinette droning on and on about Adrien, with her usual reasons. "You'll give him up for this dense blonde who doesn't even realize you like him? Who constantly friendzones you every chance he gets?"
"I… I…" Marinette started, unsure of what to say anymore. She'd said it all, hadn't she? Or at least attempted to. However deep down she knew Tikki was right. There wasn't any way for her to make Adrien see she liked him, could there?
Adrien had constantly friendzoned her during everything… Times when they were alone, whether planned or otherwise. And it was draining… Hopeless, even. Yet she still put herself through the pain willingly.
It was as if she was holding on to something that was all the more unattainable the more she tried. Especially with the heart eyes she'd seen him give Kagami lately. She knew she should give up. The heartbreak wasn't worth it.
But then why would she continue to insist on the idea of Adrien being her perfect match anyway? She really believed they were soulmates deep down in her heart… And yet when Chat displayed these same motives towards Ladybug, she was completely against it.
“I’m just as bad as Chat on this matter, aren’t I?” Marinette said, as the realization came to her. “I’ve been desperately waiting for something to happen between us… Something that could never be, no matter how much I want it to.”
“You and Chat may share some of the same morals, such as putting your crushes on some pedestal, but you two have different ways to deal with them.” Tikki stated calmly. “You’re not constantly flirting or throwing yourself at Adrien. Nor do you throw tantrums or leave him when you can’t get what you want. Both of your situations are different.”
“None of that matters when I still try to pursue Adrien anyway.” She insisted.
“Mari, stop this.” Tikki said, firmly. “You’re not like him. I mean you clearly talk your feelings out with me. Then there are also Alya, Juleka, Rose… The usual girl group at school you’re a part of. Sometimes even Luka. And neither of them judge you for that. You’re allowed to feel as you do and I hope you come to understand that sometime.”
"How Tikki? I'm a mess of emotions every single day!" She replied. "How could that be alright? Or healthy in the least?"
"Because you don't keep them in." Tikki said. "And if you think that would turn everyone away from you, you have another thing coming. Luka clearly loves you!"
"I… I don’t deserve it though.” Marinette said, tears glistening in her eyes. “I don’t deserve him.” “That’s something for him to decide, Mari, not you.” Tikki said, offering her holder a soft smile. “Yet he still undeniably loves you, faults and all. It’s what makes Luka, well, Luka.”
“I know… But I still can’t help but think that he deserves someone better. Someone who can give him the life he deserves. Someone who can love him unconditionally and put his well being first, as he does for me.” She began, just as a lone tear slid down her face. “How can I be that for him when the first boy that comes to mind is one I can never have?”
“How can you be so sure, you can’t be that person for him?” Tikki asked her holder. “Isn’t he all you wished Adrien to be for you? Kind, caring, attentive, affectionate, encouraging… All the while just there for you when you need a friend. He’s perfect for you, and if you’d only get your mind out of the gutter, you’d see that’s true.”
“How would that be fair to him, Tikki?” She asked, all the while wiping away some fresh tears with the back of her hand. “I wouldn’t want to use him to just get over Adrien, nor would I want him to feel like second best.”
“Do you have any romantic feelings for Luka at all?” The kwami asked her holder in a more serious tone.
“Well, yeah, b-bu-” The girl attempted to respond, but was interrupted.
“Then there you have your answer.” Tikki said. “Luka won’t be second best, unless you treat him as such. And since that’s something you’re not too keen on, then there’s no real issue. All he wants is for you to be at your happiest, be it as a friendship or romance. Though if you ask me, I think you owe it to yourself to be happy, Mari. Giving him a chance wouldn’t hurt. In fact, I think it would help you become happier.”
Perhaps the tiny kwami had a point. Luka was all the things she was looking for in a guy. So what if he wasn’t the boy she chased after for so long? So what if he wasn’t the blonde boy who’d offered her his umbrella the one day she’d forgotten hers? Or the first boy to awaken such feelings inside of her?
Luka was different. He was there for her when nobody else was. He was the most comforting presence in her life. Never pushing her to return his feelings, but instead encouraging her to chase after the boy she really liked. The guitarist was content just being her friend. He didn’t demand anything from her. If anything all he wished was for her happiness, however it is that she would find it.
“O-Okay…” Marinette concluded, coming to a decision. “You went through a lot of trouble trying to set us up, so I’ll let it slide this time.”
“That’s the spirit!” Tikki exclaimed, giddy with excitement. “Now come on, let’s get you ready. Your new boyfriend could be coming in any minute now~”
“T-Tikki!” The girl cried out, flustered at the ‘boyfriend’ comment. “Don’t get so ahead of yourself!”
“What? We both know you’ll both become an item soon enough.” The kwami declared, very sure of herself.
“T-That’s not the point!” Marinette responded, just as flustered, if not more so than before.
Ding.
Marinette's phone chimed, alerting her a new message had arrived.
"Just arrived. Hope to see you soon."
She smiled fondly at the message before typing in her own response.
"I'll be right over with you in a few."
Without another word, the girl put her phone down and entered the bathroom to fix herself up in order to finally face Luka.
Marinette was filled with new purpose and hope to start a relationship. A real one that she was sure they both wanted.
Perhaps Tikki's meddling was a blessing. After all, it had helped Marinette see more clearly that there was a different boy she could pursue with more than successful results.

Every Kwami Loves Nino
Nino needs to take notes for the quiz Monday, so it is not a day he plans on hanging out with this kwami buddies. A loud squeal from his bag in the middle of class changes his plans.

Chapter 4 || Pollen
Nino was sitting in class, taking notes for the quiz Monday when a shrill squeal came from his bag. All eyes were suddenly on him as he franticly tried to come up with an excuse. “Sorry Mme. Bustier, I, um, thought I saw a spider?” The inflection of Nino’s sentence rose at the end, turning it into a question without meaning to. Mme. Bustier quirked a brow as the rest of the class began to chuckle. Nino snatched up his bag. “Um, I need to use the restroom.” Mme. Bustier sighed as she waved him out the door, used to his bathroom breaks by now. Nino didn’t want to think about what the class thought he was doing in the bathroom for so long, so many times a week. Only Alya knew he was hanging out with some ancient gods.
Rushing into the bathroom, Nino checked all the stalls and locked the door before he opened his bag to see what was going on. Apparently kwami multiplied, at least it seemed like it. Not only were Plagg, Tikki, and Trixx in Nino’s bag, but Pollen was sitting there too. Or rather, Pollen was clinging to Tikki with tears streaming down her face as Tikki’s paws covered the little bee’s mouth. “What in the world is going on in there?”
Tikki removed her paws from Pollen’s mouth, freely letting the kwami sob uncontrollably, and flew up to Nino with Pollen still clinging on. “Sorry Nino, Pollen saw me fly into your bag. We kind of have this bug kwami bond, we’re best bug friends, and she got a bit emotional when seeing me again after so long.”
Pollen gasped, pulling away from Tikki slightly to look at the ladybug kwami. “Are you telling me you’re not just as excited to see me right now? Pollen’s eyes went watery again.
Tikki patted Pollen on the head and pulled her in for a tight hug. “Of course that’s not what I’m saying. I might even be more excited than you are right now.” A joking tone entered Tikki’s voice. “I’m not trying to out Nino as our food supplier by screaming at the top of my tiny lungs though.” Tikki chuckled when Pollen pouted at her.
Nino smiled, gently patting Pollen on the head. “Tikki’s kidding, but in all seriousness, you guys do have to be relatively quiet when you hang out in my bag. You’re welcome to chill in there any time as long as you don’t draw any attention to yourself.”
Pollen sniffled as she looked up at Nino. “Really?” Nino nodded. “Do you want to know who my holder is in return for being so kind.” The other three kwami groaned.
“What? No, of course not. I’m trying to not think about the fact they all go to my school. Please don’t say anything, I don’t need to know. No one else should know either. You’re a kwami, you have to protect your chosen’s identity!” Nino gaped at Pollen, horror evident on his face.
Plagg rolled his eyes. “She’s just testing you.” Nino’s look of horror transformed into one of confusion. Plagg nodded to confirm that Nino had heard him right. “Yup. You would think the literal fox would be the trickster in the group, but surprisingly, that label falls to our little bee here.”
Nino looked at Pollen who had a sweet smile plastered to her face. “Sorry, I had to make sure you were reliable.”
Snorting out a laugh, Nino shook his head. “I get what you were doing, just don’t give me a heart attack next time please.” Pollen gave Nino a little salute. He should probably be a little more miffed about the whole situation than he was, but honestly, he was starting to expect shenanigans from the little gods by now. Actually, he probably would have been surprised if he’d met Pollen under more normal circumstances.
“I do have to say, I commend your resilience and how defensive you were of my holder without even knowing who she is.” Before Nino could offer a reply, Pollen’s smile turned sly. “Now, were those honey sticks I saw in your bag?” Nino reached into his bag, taking out the honey sticks he’d been carrying around for the little bee.
Seeing Pollen suck down an entire honey stick in a matter of seconds while still clinging to Tikki, was equal parts horrifying and outstanding. “Nino, this is quality stuff. Is there any way that you can be my chosen? I’m kidding, her and I are good for each other, but you are going to be seeing a lot of me if you keep up a honey supply like this. Plus, you seem cool and I get to see my friends, so yeah, I’m going to be joining this little kwami club you have going on, whether you like it or not.”
“Don’t worry, you will always have a place in the kwami club, as you call it.” Nino chuckled. “Why am I not surprised that you’re the sassiest of all the kwami?” Pollen placed a paw on her chest in mock offense while a bit of honey dribbled down her chin. The others snorted at the exchange.
After chatting with Pollen and the other kwami for a few more minutes, Nino gave the unfortunate news that he had to get back to class to finish with his notes. A course of groans rose up, but the kwami floated back into Nino’s bag. Before he could close it, Pollen flew back out, quickly kissing Nino on the cheek. “Thank you Nino, it was great meeting you. Sorry for squealing earlier.”
Nino smiled at the little kwami. “It’s not problem Pollen. I’m glad I finally got to meet you.” With that, Pollen gave a little wave and zipped back into the bag.
Nino shouldered his bag, carrying around four kwami was actually surprisingly heavy. It was worth it though. The little dudes were fun to hang out with, and learning about their history was extremely fascinating, way better than learning about the revolution. A giggle then a “shhh” erupted from his bag as he walked in the empty hall way, and a smile tugged its way onto Nino’s face.

Final thoughts about Shanghai now that I can act like a Miraculous gremlin again:
-Astruc is a liar: this episode is clearly set after the NY special because Fan Guy still has his fan (I feel like he wouldn't buy an identical one), Gorilla is interested in the Majestia/Aeon figurines but buys an Eagle one, which wouldn't be possible before the NY special, and the Astocat/Cosmobug argument
-speaking of Fan Guy: we have a plot hole the size of an episode between these two episodes because wth was he doing in NY at the end then?
-Wang is a national treasure, like Gorilla: this man is so wholesome, he deserves a hug. Also the family's pet bird Bastille? Who plays with the figurines with Gorilla? A M A Z I N G (there has to be a story there, that bird is old)
-Fei was on thin ice at the beginning, and she really does seem like a "Bad actions, good-ish intentions" kind of girl. I appreciate the fact that she somehow plays the accordion out of nowhere, though.
-Marinette: I love her, I really do, but part of this episode was just... They made her too Adrien-centric this episode (although I have to say, Tikki being like "are you going to put Adrien in the soup?" when Marinette goes out to get an ingredient and to see Adrien was pretty funny). Also, the fact that she didn't know her mother's Chinese name? That seems very unlikely (also funny story I think Sabine's Chinese name is the same as my friend's Mum, whom I had brunch with today so that would be a wild coincidence)
-LADYNOIR: where do I start... There's so much and my heart is just so full from all their casual hangouts during the summer!! So much fic food. Also they're absolutely adorable at the end when they both pretend they have to go home (shenanigans!!!)
-As usual, Gabriel proved to be the best dad in the universe (not): it's so ridiculous how bad he is, especially in comparaison to the DC's who literally just fly out their daughter on a whim and are so nice about it??? And (speaking for me at least) the bar is so low in terms of what I'll consider nice from him, the only thing he did was worry about Adrien when the akumatised guardian started targeting the neighbourhood their hotel was in. That being said, I loved that he was "punished" for it, even temporarily, by being Thanosed.
-Adrien is super precious bean, yet again, but honestly he and Marinette have a problem with trusting people; they need to be more cautious sometimes because come on. Marinette felt bad for the shadiest guy in existence, and Adrien believed his son would make time for him (as if).
-Fei was originally after Adrien's ring and omg can you imagine what would have been like if Adrien and Plagg had been separated
-We better get Adrienette Mandarin lessons at some point in season 4

Splataclysm! - chapter 5
Hey does anyone remember that really weird Splatoon AU fic I was writing? I promise I didn’t forget about it. I’m gonna try and get it finished as soon as possible because I have been in such a Splatoon mood lately. Anyway, have some Octoling appreciation :D
Also on AO3 as always
It wasn’t long before the next Splatfest was announced in Inkopolis. The difference was that this time, it was the final Splatfest. The Squid Sisters were becoming too busy to regularly host them.
“It’s so unfair!” Nath complained to Rose as they walked towards the voting booth to pick their teams. “I didn’t get here very long ago and I’m only ever going to experience one Splatfest while everyone else got to participate in loads!”
“At least this is the most interesting one!” Rose said. “Usually our team choices were things like Barbarian vs Ninja, or North Pole vs South Pole. But this time? Mireille vs Aurore! That’s much more exciting!”
Nath sighed. “I don’t even know who I’ll pick. They’re both equal to me.”
“Same! I’m going to feel ever so bad for having to choose between them!”
Of course Rose would. She was just too nice for her own good. Nath was slowly starting to feel weirdly protective over her, like a little sister, and he wasn’t sure he liked it.
There was the voting booth up ahead, where people picked their teams and were given a “Splatfest Tee” to wear for the duration of the event to signify which side they were supporting. Nath was about to go up and just flip a coin to pick a random side when he noticed who the inklings standing at the booth were.
The Slaughter Squad.
“Let’s just stay back a second,” he muttered, grabbing Rose’s arm and pulling her aside.
The Slaughter Squad seemed to have trouble choosing too. They didn’t appear to notice that they were completely blocking off the voting booth from anyone else who wanted to vote and had already made up their mind.
“What do you think, Max?” Kim asked.
Max just shrugged, his sunglasses obscuring his expression but body language betraying that he seemed rather bored.
“Mireille does tend to always win,” Alix said.
“Yeah, duh, we all know that. No need to point out the obvious, jeez.”
“Alright, I was just saying!”
“So anyway, I think we should pick Team Mireille. Everyone always picks Aurore’s team so the multiplier will be in our favour and whatever other maths stuff Max told us about last time.”
“But if everyone knows that Mireille always wins, and this is the final Splatfest, then more people might pick Mireille and the multiplier might boost Aurore’s team instead…”
“Oh shut up,” Kim snapped, shoving her aside. “We’re voting Team Mireille and that’s final. Right Max?”
Max just shrugged again, very much looking like he was stifling a yawn.
“Okay, that’s settled. Team Mireille it is.”
The three of them pressed the left side buttons on the machine and were given three magenta-coloured Splatfest Tees.
“I hate these stupid t-shirts,” Alix said, scrunching hers into a ball.
“Of course you do, you’re way too small to fit in them properly.”
“Actually I hate them because all the abilities I worked so hard to earn on my hoodie just go to waste for these two days when we’re forced to wear these instead–”
“I don’t care. Let’s go.”
Nath watched the Slaughter Squad walk off, suspecting that he might have been gripping Rose’s arm just a little too tightly. How were the Slaughter Squad so fresh? How did they become so good? Was it practice? Luck? Were they just born like that?
Well, he suspected in Kim and Alix’s cases it might be luck and practice. But Max? Max “Unsplattable” Kanté? That guy just oozed freshness, so easily, so effortlessly, with his E-Litre 3K Scope slung over his shoulder, that 3-star triple Damage Up jacket, those sunglasses catching glints of the light from the sky and buildings around them, the way the sun seemed to shine its rays on him specifically, basking him in some kind of ethereal glow like a sort of immortal omnipotent being–
Nath looked away quickly, blushing. He hadn’t realized he was staring.
“Have you decided on a team yet?” Rose asked, distracting him from his rather overactive mind.
“Hm?... Oh, yeah…” He loosened his grip slightly and led her over to the voting booth. “I’m picking Team Mireille. I don’t want to lose my only Splatfest, and if she always wins, well…”
“Good choice!” Rose said, beaming up at him. “I think I’ll pick Mireille too! Then the two of us can be on the same team.”
He smiled back, feeling oddly comforted at the thought of Rose being his teammate. She was pretty much still his only friend here. It was good to have her around.
They cast their votes, then were given Splatfest Tees to wear. The actual Splatfest would begin the next day, so they didn’t have to wear them until then. Meanwhile in the plaza, a large stage was being set up near the television booth. Apparently every Splatfest, the Squid Sisters would perform their songs standing up on here. Nath couldn’t wait to see it. Of course he’d heard them perform live before – he had been there to watch them win the Youth Folk-Singing Contest in the first place – but here in Inkopolis, where they were celebrities, it would feel much more exciting.
“Oh! I’ve got a new message!” Rose pulled her phone out of her pocket.
“Let me guess, it’s from Juleka?” Nath asked. Juleka seemed to be the only person Rose got messages from these days.
“It is, it is! And oh listen… she’s asking me if I’d want to get a coffee… that’s so sweet…”
“You don’t even like coffee,” Nath pointed out.
“I know, but still! It’s the thought that counts!”
“Have you even met Juleka before? In person?”
“Of course I have!” Rose frowned at him, looking slightly annoyed for once. “I know I don’t tend to battle much, but I have asked her to update my gear with more ability slots before. I’ve spoken to her a lot. She’s just shy, she doesn’t like going out of her way to talk to people. It doesn’t mean I can’t get to know her well. And where better than a coffee date at Arowana Mall?”
She had a kind of fire in her eyes that he hadn’t seen before. Huh, she really cared about Juleka, didn’t she?
“You should ask her to be your girlfriend,” he said on a whim.
“You think so? I mean, I would love to, but… she’s… a sea urchin…”
“No one bats an eyelid at Mylène the anemone and Ivan the inkling.”
“True! You’re right, maybe I should ask Juleka!” She giggled a little. “So, what caused your sudden dramatic turn-around, Nath? According to Juleka you weren’t even willing to give her my number at first…”
Oh drat, Rose knew about that? How embarrassing.
“I was just being stupid,” he said quickly. “Seriously though, you and Juleka deserve each other. You both seem to like each other a lot, so why not?”
“Aww, Nath!” Rose hugged him. “Do you really think she likes me back?”
“Well why else is she asking you on a coffee date to Arowana Mall?”
“Good point! Anyway, I’d better reply and then head off to go find her. I’ll see you later, okay?”
She started typing away on her phone as she walked off.
Well, now what? Nath found himself wishing he had more friends. People often tended to go battling in groups, but he just wasn’t close enough with anyone else. It wasn’t like Rose ever battled much anyway.
He sighed, watching all the other inklings milling around in the area. Why couldn’t he just talk to them? He had always been so shy, so reserved, so quiet. And now, here in this city, he wasn’t fresh enough either. How long was it going to take?
Octo Valley was slowly becoming more unforgiving as the Octarians were improving their forces. Some of the foes that Marinette and Adrien had to face were much more difficult than before, with advanced weaponry that could only have been stolen from the inklings. How was that possible? Did they get the information from Nino? And where were they keeping him? How long would it be until he could be found?
The most difficult of the Octarian enemies so far were the Octolings. They were essentially the Octarian versions of inklings – humanoid creatures that could shift into octopus form at will and swim through their own ink, with weapons and bombs just like the inklings used. It was far more tiring to fight them than any of the other, simpler Octarian enemies.
“This kettle looks a lot like Kelp Dome,” Marinette said to Adrien as they entered a new area. “It’s like they’ve copied it.”
“I was thinking the same thing…”
“Beware of the Octolings!” Fu warned them through the radio. “There’ll be plenty ahead, no doubt!”
“It’s no problem,” Marinette said. “We know this course inside out. Adrien, you go right. I’ll go left. We’ll meet back in the centre. If you need any help or find the butterfly before me, just let me know by radio.”
“Are you sure we should split up?” Adrien asked.
“It’ll be fine.” Marinette smiled at him, hoping she looked encouraging. “You can do it. Octolings are just like inklings, right? Pretend it’s a Turf War or Ranked Battle and you’re just splatting your opponents. I’ll be close by to help if you need it.”
“Alright. Thanks, Marinette.”
He put his Krak-On Splat Roller on the ground and began running off down one of the side paths. Marinette turned to the left and headed the other way.
It wasn’t difficult at first. Sure, Octolings were tougher than other Octarian enemies. But Marinette was a battle veteran, she was used to difficult situations. This kind of thing didn’t feel particularly out of the ordinary for her. She splatted Octoling after Octoling, keeping her eyes out for the butterfly, trying not to feel too guilty. Octolings really did look like inklings to her. At least they would respawn – though hopefully not too soon.
She had reached the opposite side of the dome when she heard something that sounded incredibly familiar. Was that… the Squid Sisters? Singing?
Marinette ran towards where the sound was coming from, though cautiously in case it was a trap of some sort. Sure enough, as the music got louder, she did recognize it. That definitely was the sound of a Squid Sisters song, and not just any song. “Calamari Inkantation”, as it was called, was the inkling song. The most famous melody in existence. The Squid Sisters had covered it and their version was topping the charts, it was such a favourite among the citizens of Inkopolis.
Hiding behind a wall, Marinette slowly inched forwards and had a look around the corner. There! A radio was sitting on one of the platforms, playing Calamari Inkantation. And someone was sitting in front of it, quietly singing along.
Not just anyone. An Octoling.
Marinette lowered her weapon slightly. Why was an Octoling listening to inkling radio stations? And singing along? Marinette hadn’t even thought Octolings could understand the inkling language. It usually took jellyfish and other sea creatures long enough to learn.
The Octoling… she had a lovely voice, that was for sure. She was sitting facing the other way so only the back of her was visible. Her tentacle hair was longer than most Octolings usually kept theirs, a beautiful auburn colour with gentle curls. It swayed slightly in the breeze.
Huh, a breeze? Here, underground? Maybe the Octarians pumped air into their caves or something. Or perhaps this Octoling’s hair just moved like that on its own. Marinette watched in fascination.
The song came to an end, and the sound of the radio presenter followed.
“…And that was our good old Calamari Inkantation, by the Squid Sisters we all know and love! I hope everyone out there was singing along! Now for the Splatfest news – our final Splatfest, Mireille vs Aurore, has begun! We can’t say for sure what the results will be yet but surely it’ll be close…”
“I’m missing a SPLATFEST?!” Marinette yelped, unable to stop herself. She quickly put her hand over her mouth and dipped into squid form.
The Octoling switched off the radio and jumped up, looking around. Marinette stayed as still as possible.
“Hello? Is someone there?”
The Octoling had spoken in inkling – oh, she had spoken in inkling. Singing a song was one thing, but she had really said a sentence in the language. She could speak it. Her words had a strange lilt to them, her voice sounding slightly lower and smoother than that of inklings. Marinette held back a gasp.
“I know I heard someone…”
The Octarian turned around. Her tentacles were cut short at the front into a fringe, and she had little foxtails dangling down by her shoulders. Most Octolings wore visors but this one didn’t – her eyes were green, a beautiful, leafy green that was surprisingly uncommon on this wasteland of a planet.
Marinette moved backwards a little. It was a mistake. The Octoling’s eyes snapped down to where Marinette was hiding in the ink.
“You’re there, I know you are! Please come out! I promise I won’t attack you!”
“Don’t fall for it,” Fu muttered through the radio. Marinette had forgotten he was there. “She’s just luring you into a false sense of security. Better to splat her on sight.”
It was true. Octolings were not to be trusted.
But this Octoling… she didn’t have a weapon with her. She was entirely defenceless. And anyway, how could she be all bad? She had been listening to inkling radio, right? Apparently she liked the Squid Sisters. She couldn’t be an enemy to the inklings.
Marinette slowly stood up into her full humanoid form, still keeping her weapon close just in case. The Octoling’s expression softened as she watched.
“You’re an inkling,” she said quietly, keeping her distance. She looked a little afraid. “You’re one of the ones travelling through our lands and taking the butterflies away.”
“I’m taking the butterflies back,” Marinette clarified. “They were ours to begin with.”
The Octoling sighed. “That’s true…”
“What are you waiting for?” Fu said. “Splat her! She’s right there!”
“Why were you listening to inkling radio?” Marinette asked, ignoring Fu for the moment. She was too intrigued now. She needed answers.
“I love the Squid Sisters,” the Octoling replied. “They have such amazing voices! And amazing songs! I want to be a singer too, so it really inspires me.”
“Don’t you have any Octarian idols of your own?”
The Octoling shuffled around nervously. “We’re not supposed to make our own music. Our leader likes us to listen to his music only.”
“Your leader doesn’t sound very nice…”
The Octoling shrugged. “What can we do? Inklings won’t let us have any land up on the surface, and we can’t go back in the sea. Our leader and our kettles are all we have.”
Oh, so was that why they were stealing butterflies? Because they didn’t have anything else? To them, the inklings must seem so privileged. Marinette was starting to feel rather bad indeed for how many Octarians she had splatted recently. Weren’t they just doing exactly what she was doing? Trying to protect her home and her friends?
“You’re not as bad as they’ve told us the inklings are,” the Octoling continued. “Are all inklings like you?”
“Every inkling is different, I suppose. Maybe some are good, some are bad.” Like Octarians, she thought to herself, though she didn’t say it out loud. Fu was still listening, after all, and he hated all Octarians no matter what.
“You seem like a good inkling. You just want to get your butterflies back. I understand.”
“And I want my friend back too,” Marinette said, feeling stronger as she thought of Nino. “He’s been kidnapped and we don’t know what’s happening to him down here. Me and my fellow agent have to rescue him.”
The Octoling nodded. “I know who you’re talking about. Your friend. He’s… well… please don’t be too shocked when you find him, okay?”
“What? What are you talking about?”
“He might be a bit different now. Well, a lot different. I don’t know exactly what our leader has done with him but I’ve heard some rumours.”
“What rumours? Please, tell me what’s happened to Nino!”
“I don’t know!” The Octoling looked scared again. “Even if I did, how could I tell you? You’re an inkling! You’re… you’re an enemy…”
“Exactly,” Fu said, sounding impatient. “She’s your enemy, now just splat her already!”
“We don’t have to be enemies,” Marinette said.
“I know,” the Octoling replied. “But what can I do? I’ve already betrayed my people enough by telling you all this. And listening to your music. And wishing I could move to Inkopolis and be as fresh as all of you are–”
She snapped her hand over her mouth, looking around as if she was expecting someone to be spying on her.
“It’s okay,” Marinette said. “You don’t have to tell me anymore. I’ll, uh, leave you alone now…”
“Wait! I just want to know… what’s your name?”
Marinette hesitated. No one was supposed to know her identity, not even people back home.
“Ladybug,” she replied finally. It wasn’t a total lie. “What’s your name?”
The Octoling hesitated too. After a few seconds she said, “Volpina.”
That must be a lie. Marinette just nodded.
“Volpina. Thank you. I wish you luck in your singing career.”
“And I hope you can rescue your friend.”
“WHY AREN’T YOU SPLATTING HER?!” Fu screeched.
Marinette hurried away, back towards the outer edges of Kelp Dome. How could she have splatted “Volpina”? Sure, Volpina would have respawned, but still. It would have seemed so unfair.
Things were still not sinking in. An Octoling who was a fan of the Squid Sisters? Who wanted to move to Inkopolis and be just like the inklings? Marinette carried on trudging through the dome, but she just couldn’t get her mind off it. She couldn’t get her mind off Volpina.
This Splatfest was not going well. Nath had decided to try out a Blaster, and his teammate Ivan was just staring at him in dismay.
“What?” Nath asked.
“You’re using a Blaster,” Ivan replied, his voice completely monotone. He sounded more disappointed than Nath had ever heard him.
“Yeah? So? I like trying out new weapons.” More like, he kept trying out new weapons because he still hadn’t found one that fit, and Tikki wouldn’t help him with it.
“You’re using a Blaster. For a Turf War.”
“What’s wrong with that?”
Ivan rubbed his forehead. “Blasters are for splatting. Not for inking.”
“Well so are Chargers, right? And Max uses a Charger!”
“Max is an exception to every rule. Some people might be alright at using Blasters during Turf War, but you? On your first try? During a Splatfest, when it actually matters whether we win or lose?”
Ouch. Did Ivan really have such little faith in him?
“Relax, Ivan, it’ll be fine,” he said. “Okay, so I know Blasters have a low fire rate and stuff. But they have exploding bullets! I’ll be able to splat people way more easily, so they won’t be able to ink any turf, and we’ll win. That’s how it’s going to work.”
Ivan just sighed. “I sure do hope so, Nathaniel…”
The match that followed was a disaster. It was true that Blasters did not cover much turf. Nath had hoped that the bullets would make up for it, but the low fire rate meant that if Nath missed his shot, the opponent would have time to splat him before he could take another shot. And that happened far, far too often. Nath was terrible at aiming. The only thing that kept him going through the match was the Squid Sisters music that was blasting through the speakers, keeping his motivation up.
“I knew our team would lose,” Ivan said once the match results had been announced. The rest of the team members were trudging away solemnly. It seemed that people took losing Splatfest battles much more seriously than normal battles.
“It’s my fault, isn’t it?” Nath said, looking at his Blaster. “You’re right, this weapon sucks for Turf War. I should have thought about that first.”
“Hey…” Ivan looked like he was trying to smile, though it didn’t look particularly genuine. “You still did pretty well for a Blaster, though.”
“No I didn’t! 400p? That’s awful!”
“And what did you get on your very first match here in Inkopolis?”
Nath thought back. It suddenly felt like a long time ago. “I think it was about 140p…”
“See? So you are improving!”
Well, that much was true. He wasn’t anywhere near as bad now as he used to be. Alright, so he wasn’t amazing yet. But at least things were changing.
“Thanks, Ivan,” he said, really meaning it. “Hey – are Heavy Splatlings easy to use, by any chance?”
Ivan picked his Heavy Splatling up off the floor beside him. “Not that much. It took me a while to get used to it. But this is the exact kind of weapon I love. I can keep back, away from the front lines, but still protect my teammates when they need it. And unlike a Charger, I don’t need to bother with single, accurate shots. I can just pummel the opponents until they give in.”
That sounded amazing. “Maybe I’ll try that next.”
“Sure, but remember, it’s still hard to get the hang of. Most weapons are. Maybe a Mini Splatling would be better for someone as… well…” Ivan looked down at Nath from his rather high-up point of view.
“Yeah, okay, I get it,” Nath muttered. “I’m small. But I can lift a Heavy Splatling, don’t worry.”
Ivan’s smile looked a lot more genuine now. “I’m sure you can. Good luck, Nath. I know this is your only Splatfest so I’m really hoping we win.”
“Me too.”
“Will you two hurry up and go away?” Plagg called from the centre of the arena. “I need to start the next match!”
Oh – of course! Nath quickly Super Jumped away.
Heavy Splatling didn’t work so well. Mini Splatling didn’t either. Just like Chargers, those weapons had to be charged up before being fired. And Nath was constantly being splatted while waiting to charge. It was just so, so tedious.
“Tikki, what kind of weapon should I be using?” he asked her after yet another lost Turf War. At this rate Team Mireille were going to lose the Splatfest for sure.
“That’s not up to me,” Tikki said.
“But I’m trying out so many different things and it’s not helping!”
“Well, you do seem to be very good at using a Splattershot these days…”
“Everyone’s good at using a Splattershot. And anyway, I’m not above average when I use it. It just doesn’t feel like the kind of weapon I should be using. I know there’s something out there that’s perfect for me, and I just need to find it!”
“In that case, here is my advice.” Tikki took a deep breath. “Watch your teammates and opponents very carefully. See what weapons they’re using, what playstyles they are employing. Do they play aggressively? Cautiously? Defensively? Are certain strategies better with particular weapon types? Do some analysis. See if you can imagine yourself in their positions, whether or not you would feel comfortable playing the way they do. Use that to help you narrow down what sort of weapon you want to use.”
That was pretty much what he had been trying to do already. But getting mad at Tikki wouldn’t achieve anything – she was just trying to help him.
“Thank you,” he said. “I think I’ll stick with a Splattershot for now…”
“That sounds like a good idea. But let me know if there’s anything else you want to try out!”
“I will. But I’ll wait till the end of the Splatfest first.”
Tikki glanced at a clock on the wall. “Isn’t that in about 2 minutes?”
What?! Nath looked at the clock to see–
No! The Splatfest was about to end! Did he have time for another battle?
Without even bothering to say bye to Tikki, he raced out of the door and across the plaza towards the Lobby. Surely he could make it in time?
But he didn’t. The doors were closed. And a few seconds later, the screen in the plaza lit up with an announcement from the Squid Sisters. He turned to look, trying not to feel too grumpy.
“And that’s the end of the final Splatfest!” Mireille said, punching a fist up in the air as usual. “I can’t wait to find out the results!”
“Same!” Aurore said, a rare smile on her face. “We’ll let you all know when the results have been calculated. In the meantime, carry on with all your regular battles, and stuff.”
“And now to announce the Turf War stages…”
Nath didn’t bother to listen to any more. This Splatfest was over, and he had hardly contributed at all. He’d lost most of his matches. It wouldn’t be a surprise if his team lost.
The next morning, he sat in his apartment drinking a rather large mug of coffee and feeling more glum than usual. He had been intending to psych himself up to find out the results of the Splatfest and then go into the plaza when he was ready. But the morning newspaper had arrived and already told him the bad news.
TEAM AURORE WINS FINAL SPLATFEST DESPITE GAINING FEWER VOTES
Wasn’t that exactly what Alix had been warning her teammates about? Most people would have voted for Mireille, expecting her to win, and the mysterious “multiplier” (whatever that was) would give enough of a boost to Aurore’s team to drive her to victory instead.
So that was it. Nath had lost his only Splatfest. He would never get a chance to participate in another one again, ever, in his life.
He grabbed an energy drink off the counter beside him and dunked it all into his coffee mug. He was definitely going to need it today.

Why the hell is Pee Girl so okay with insulting Marinette (she's had a real field day with the latest episode), yet as soon as someone says anything bad about her golden god Adrien, that's when she draws the line at salt?
One, I honestly saw that coming- like, ANY episode that could be Ladybug/Marinette centric and she and other batshit adrien stans- cause there are chill ones, so I will call these the batshit ones- will throw a tantrum and act like Adrien suddenly gets ignored and some crap, when hes shoved down our throat even in episodes that aren't about him. And seeing her say Marinette was likeable when possessed by Tikki....gross- just- gross- goes hand in hand with her saying Marinette being made stupid by an akuma is somehow better.
And two, I honestly thought she'd calmed down a tad, as she was fine reblogging some ladybug posts, but no...she's back at it:
Tumblr media
"I wonder how you sleep at night" pretty good actually, I go to sleep thankful I ain't a batshit crazy stan for characters I like who threaten people over these characters, let alone am thankful I aint a violent sexist who has also stalked and harassed people and still is (LadyLB and Harriyanna). "Just remember karma exists" ....for hating Adrien? Adrien aint special, I dislike Mal from descendants and other characters from franchises, my karma list must be long for disliking characters. "That's all im saying" proceeds to post about adrien salters anyway, proving we live rent free in her head. "Why can't I and some othetes hate or dislike marinette?" BECAUSE, the way you go about is is harassing marinette stans LITERALLY DOING NOTHING WRONG- they could post Lady Noire stuff, and get you prissy about in the notes, and that's ignoring the R word comment about Marinette on a fic and other violent sexist stuff.
Oh, and uh, she also apparently supports Cyrus The Great....who basically lives off trashing Marinette while uplifting everyone else, so like, no wonder she's this violently sexist to Marinette:
Tumblr media
"Your just mad he's spitting facts!" no, hes like that guy who trashed mabel pines for two videos: very obsessed with trashing marinette while acting like the white boy should replace her.

Feel free to ignore, but what do you think would change if Adrien was a girl with optional boy Marinette? (Trans or cis, your preference)
Let's make them both trans just for fun! I'll use the typical gender swap names of Marin and Adrienne. (Also, slight warning: I'm half-asleep and also dumb, so I might accidentally use their Canon names/genders. I'm not trying to be an asshole I'm just dumb and tired)
So both transitioned pre-series. However. There's differences on who knows.
Marin: Other than his parents, its mostly old friends like Nino and Kim remember Marin pre-transition. They still sometimes call him "Nette"/"Nettie" as a nickname, but Marin doesn't mind because it doesn't immediately out him. Rose and Juleka also know because Juleka and Marin both got trans vibes off each other and came out to one another. Other than that, most of the class only remembers Marin as a boy and he doesn't feel the need to tell everyone outright. Some people guess because Marin is very LGBT+ involved, so they know he's somewhere in that.
As for Adrienne, she's unfortunately out to everyone because the Agrestes are well known. Adrienne made her modeling debut modeling boys clothes, but after coming out to her parents she was switched to modeling female clothes(because Gabriel might be a fuck but at least he's not a transphobe!). It was kind of a big PR thing when it happened, and she still sometimes gets misgendered in magazines, but that's what the lawyers are for! As I said though, Adrienne doesn't have quite as much privacy on who she can tell because of that. Though the class doesn't immediately know because they weren't paying attention to the Agrestes before meeting Adrienne, they do find out through articles about her now that they're paying attention.
Onto some changes, let's start with Chloé! She still sees Adrienne as her best friend/almost sibling, and is very protective/possessive of her. But it doesn't come across as a romantic crush because Chloé can't use Adrienne as a "let me pretend I'm straight" crush. She will fight anyone who misgenders Adrienne though. The fact that Chloé can be friends with someone as sweet and kind as Adrienne without any 'crush' to explain her interest gets people looking at her in a new light. Like a "huh. Maybe she's not a total bitch?", and everyone decides to subtly work with her/give her a chance to be nicer.
Marin still befriends Alya in Origins but doesn't come out to her immediately. Adrienne also befriends Nino too.
Marin also still develops a crush on Adrienne. While he didn't pay attention to Agreste Family Drama before, he is aware that Adrienne is trans so that's not an issue in his anxieties.
On the flip side: Ladynoir. Or Lordnoire.
Lordbug and Chat Noire are Paris's Heroes. And they're dynamic is pretty much the same, except Chat Noire is less open in her flirting at the beginning.
The reason for that is because she doesn't know if Lordbug will like her if he finds out she's trans, so she doesn't quite get her hopes up until later. Because Chat Noire tells Marin during a "Marichat Moment", so next "Lordnoire" moment, Lordbug drops a "btw I'm trans" into the conversation.
So a lot of the plots don't change. But some of the crush drama does. Let's start:
Nathaniel in Evilustrator: Nath still has a crush on Marin. Chloé doesn't tease the crush as much in this version because she might be a bitch but outing someone like that is a line she doesn't cross. Nathaniel kind of ends up outing himself because Evilustrator takes Marin on the date and everyone connects those dots.
Nino in Animan: Nino still has a crush on Marin but is having more of a LGBT-related debate within himself. He's like "I have a crush on Marin, which should mean I'm not straight because he is a guy. But as he is my first guy crush will he see it as me being not-straight or will he think I'm still straight but not accepting him? And even worse, is that what I'm subconsciously doing???" By the end, DJWifi still happens and Nino can tell Marin "so I'm not straight and I did have a crush on you but also I now have a crush on Alya and we're dating!". The power of being locked in a panther cage.
Théo in Copycat: Because he's straight, Théo's crush is on Chat Noire instead. She rejects him for several reasons, the biggest being that she's in love with Lordbug. Théo ends up as a Copybug instead, jealous that Lordbug has captured the heart of his crush. Lordbug thinks it was because he didn't come to the statue thing, but after he's defeated he apologizes to Chat Noire about how he reacted to her rejection. Lordbug'a just standing there like "wait, if you were upset she rejected you, why'd you turn into fake me???". Chat Noire helps dodge that by pointing out that they're about to detransform.
Kagami: I'm debating on this. Tbh I want to set it up for my usual polyship as endgame, but That's not the debate. The debate is whether Kagami has a crush on Adrienne and the "oh no I'm gay!" Panic, or Kagami gets the crush on Marin first. Either way, she ends up having a friendship with Marin earlier.
Luka: while I could switch the crushes like I did with Kagami, Luka initially interacts with Marin more than Adrienne. Polyship is endgame like usual, but it's lining up as more of a Mariharem. On the other hand, Adrienne might have a closer friendship to Juleka because transgirl solidarity, which would give Adrienne an excuse to be over more and in the process get to known Luka more too.
Now for the real fun plot: Lila.
Because of Lila's manipulative nature, I wouldn't put it past her to pretend to be gay to get the money/power that would come with seducing Adrienne. Especially because while she would pretend to be accepting, she wouldn't see Adrienne as a 'girl'.
However, let's have a twist in the AU and point out that Lila has other options for her 'meal ticket'. After all, everyone in every salt fic has pointed out how Canon!Mari has the same connections that Lila attempts to lie about!
So, Lila decides to try seducing Marin instead. She doesn't know that Marin is trans and that'll be an issue later but for now it's her plan.
Marin still clocks Lila as a liar because while Lila did enough research to avoid telling lies Marin can easily disprove(like the Jagged's cat one), she still did the 'Lordbug's my bff!' Thing. He gives the half-truth to Lila of "Lordbug was upset you would lie about him and is looking for you to tell you to stop".
Volpina happens as in Canon. Except her Illusion at the Eiffel Tower is Marin instead of Adrien. Though the book plot is slightly different. Marin saw Adrienne with the book, Tikki said "we need to get that!", so Marin managed to start a conversation to try and borrow it. Lila stole it because Marin was interested. Marin does manage to get it back and that goes the same.
Lila then disappears for Season 2, so let's jump to her return in Season 3.
As Marin is her target, she tries to get someone else sent to the back. It ends up being Adrienne, because she's nice even if she thinks Lila's a liar(she can't tell anyone "I know she's a liar because I'm Chat Noire"), and offered to give up her seat for someone who needs it for a disability.(and she was actually asked instead of shoved back there without her input).
Marin tries to call Lila out, but he has less proof than in Canon. As I said, since seducing Marin with lies was Lila's plan, she avoided lies he could disprove. So even without the "jealousy", it's easy to write Marin off as just overly paranoid.
Still, Marin refuses to sit by Lila, and instead goes to the back with Adrienne because she looks lonely. Which pisses Lila off.
Later, Lila decides to threaten both Marin and Adrienne. Though separately, of course.
She tells Marin that she already has his friends under her spell, and it would be so easy to turn them against him if he didn't comply. Not to mention that it'd be hard to convince them that he's not interested. After all, as far as they know, Lila is such a sweet and wonderful girl! She's their friend! Even if Marin is into someone else, why would he be so upset about someone like Lila showing interest?
Marin believes in his friends. But he still panics at the threat.
With Adrienne, Lila tries to play nicer because she thinks that she can manipulate her. Lila plays the "I don't want to let a boy get between us", already planning on painting Adrienne as jealous. When Adrienne tries the nicer "I know you're lying but I think you're doing it because you want friends and I'll be your friend if you stop lying. Also what was that about a boy coming between us because idk what you're talking about?!".
Lila lied and told Adrien she'd try, but of course has no intention of doing that.
The Akuma fight goes about the same.
Afterward, Adrienne talks to Marin about her conversation with Lila. Marin is a little more confident in telling Adrienne about Lila's threats. Adrienne is pissed, and tries to stand up for Marin, but is brushed off because Lila already painted her as jealous.
So neither are believed. For Marin, they believe his suspicions of Lila are tunnel vision of his crush on Adrienne combined with insecurity of "if someone likes me it must be for ulterior motives". Meanwhile, everyone knows that Adrienne likes Marin but is denying it with 'he's just a friend!', and think she's jealous of Lila's interest.
How the turntables.
This would change other Lila-centric episodes like Oni-chan and Ladybug, but I'm too tired to deal with that rn.

Breaking Down (ML salt fic) : Tikki sees Marinette sad and is out for revenge. Let’s hope someone talks her out of it. I’m getting there so nearly done. Involves salt to Marinette’s parents and Lila, though there may be some redemption coming, possibly. I’m very conflicted about that.
Past and Future Demigods Put Together to Read (PJO read the books fic): Exactly what the title says. Percy and a few others go way back in time, nearly 2 millennia, to read some books. 2 chapters away from completion!...of the first book that is. No continuations promised as of now.
To Publish/Write: I have so many of these it’s not even funny
Midsummer Night’s Dream AU (ML AU fic): Slight variations to the play to fit it to the ML-verse. Also has no miraculous involved.
Untitled Miraculous Writer’s Guild October Event Fic: A collab fic, with October themed fun! Mainly carving pumpkins with Love Square shenanigans.
Remember Everything (Miraculous Fanworks October Challenge Fic): Though this may end up being done much later. A sad songfic set during Chat Blanc; Chat Blanc-centric. The song is by Five Finger Death Punch so if you know it chances are you can guess what the fic will be about. Just pure sadness.
Leporiphobia (PJO fic): A crack fic I’m working on because I got inspired when I reread The Last Olympian for the umpteenth time. Grover is deadly afraid of bunnies and Percy did promise to talk about it later. Later has come. No clue how that’s going to happen though, it’s sitting half done.
Untitled PJO + FT Crossover: Lucy’s Celestial Spirits are all constellations and all of those constellations have stories from Greek Mythology. That’s the basis of the fic anyways, it gets more into gods vs humans and all that fun stuff.
Why Lucy Joined Fairy Tail: That’s the working title anyways. Everyone else in the guild has a story on why they joined Fairy Tail but nobody knows Lucy’s. Based off of OVA 3 because if no one else will write this then I guess I will.
Natsu is Petty (FT fic): Also working title. I’ll come up with something better I promise. Modern AU fic, where Gajeel is Natsu’s cousin and Gray is his best friend. Even though Natsu hangs out with both of them all the time, neither has ever met, until now. Of course, when setting it up Natsu perceives dumb stuff as insults and decides to prank them. I just haven’t figured out what that prank should be.
Tagging: @kitten-noire, @silveryeet, @mdelpin, @rougescribe, @theanxiouscupcake and anyone else who wants to do it!

Every Kwami Loves Nino
Nino gets a ‘we need to talk text from Alya’. It ends up being a way different talk then he was expecting.
Chapters || 1 || 2 || 3 (You Are Here) || 4
Rated G || 2,145 Words
Cross posted on Ao3 || FF
Chapter 3 || Trixx
Nino stood in front of the door to Alya’s apartment. He’d been out there for hours. Well, it’d probably been closer to ten minutes, but it felt like hours. He just couldn’t lift his hand to knock, Nino was pretty sure his and Alya’s relationship would be over as soon as she opened that door.
Earlier in the day day, Nino received a ‘we need to talk’ text, making his heart drop. Adrien had tried to reassure Nino that Alya was not going to break up with him, but what else would she want to talk about? It helped, being able to vent to his best bro, but it still felt like two opinions were missing. The text came in after school, so there was no way he could talk to his little kwami friends about the text. It would have been nice hearing the opinions of millennia old gods before Nino had to have his heart broken.
Taking a deep breath, Nino closed his eyes and knocked. Two ecstatic “Nino!”s were heard through the door. Moments later, an exasperated Alya pulled the door open with the twins jumping around behind her. “Hey babe.” Alya leaned in, pecking Nino on the mouth.
That was a good sign, right? Alya wouldn’t have kissed him if she was planning on breaking up with him, right? He was shaken out of his thoughts when the twins gave a unanimous ‘ewwww’ because of the kiss.
Marlena’s voice came from the kitchen. “Girls, do you want to come help your papa and I make cookies?” Ella and Etta cheered, racing for the kitchen. Alya watched the girls skip away together with a soft grin on her face. Nino was struck, once again, by just how beautiful his girlfriend was. Alya’s smile slipped as she turned back to Nino, gesturing for him to come in. Oh, yeah, for a moment there, he forgot he was about to be broken up with.
“Maman, Nino and I will be in my room.” Nino trailed behind Alya towards her room, passing the kitchen where he saw Marlena and Otis smirking at each other. He found it a little strange when Otis looked over and winked before Nino fully passed the kitchen. There wasn’t too much time for him to dwell on it before Alya pulled Nino into her room and physically sat him down on her bed while she began to pace.
Nino sat in silence as his eyes trailed Alya’s back and forth path, she seemed to be mumbling to herself as she walked. He couldn’t make out anything she said, unfortunately. Suddenly, she stopped in front of him, Nino’s palms instantly began sweating. This was it. Alya cleared her throat. “Nino, I don’t know how to say this, but…” She trailed off, taking a deep breath.
Nino didn’t think he was strong enough to hear the actual words from Alya herself, so he interrupted. “It’s okay Alya, I understand.” Her eyes blew wide, mouth falling open as she gapped at him.
“Y-you what?” She looked completely gob smacked. Nino was slightly offended that she thought he wouldn’t see the signs of her about to break things off with him.
“I get it. I’m sure you have some reason why you want to break up, and you don’t have to explain if you don’t want to. I mean, I still love you and I’m kind of heart broken right now, but all I care about is if you’re happy or not Alya. I-“ Nino was interrupted by Alya practically jumping on him, sealing her mouth to his.
Alya pulled away a breathtaking amount of time later, sitting next to Nino and lightly punching him in the arm. “I’m not breaking up with you dummy! I still love you too.” Nino let out a sigh of relief. “I can’t tell you how relived I am to here you say that. After I got your ‘we need to talk message,’ I immediately put on my ‘sadness’ playlist.” Alya laughed.
“You were totally going to play Sick of Losing Soulmates by Dodie as you stared longingly out your window huh?” Nino nodded sheepishly. Alya smiled, giving Nino a short, gentle kiss before schooling her features into something a little more serious. “You are absolutely adorable, but we really do need to talk about something.” Alya patted her hair gently. “You can come out.” Out of Alya’s glorious curls, flew a little fox. “Nino, I’d like you to meet-“
“Trixx?” Nino burst into laughter. He couldn’t believe that he thought Alya was going to break up with him when she was actually going to tell him she was Rena Rouge.
“What?!” Nino’s laughter cut off and was met with a look of shock from his girlfriend and a look of curiosity from the kwami of illusions who floated closer to him. “How do you… I mean, what do you… How… When…” Alya, surprisingly, seemed to at a loss for words.
Nino rubbed the back of his neck, a nervous tick he had Adrien to blame for. “Well, you see, I’m kind of friends with Ladybug and Chat Noir’s kwamis. That’s why I go to the bathroom so often during class.”
Alya seized him by the shoulders. “You’re what? And here I thought I’d be the only one revealing a big secret today. Tell me everything!”
Nino shrugged. “There’s not much to tell. Plagg, Chat Noir’s kwami, ended up eating my lunch one time and I caught him in my bag. After that, I brought Ladybug’s kwami to get food during an akuma attack because lucky charm failed, and she was stuck. Plagg and Tikki both mentioned that they missed their other half, since they have that whole yin and yang thing going on, so I offered to let them meet in my bag during class. Sometimes I’ll go to the bathroom, so we can all hang out. They’ve taught me a lot about the kwami in their set, and others as well. It’s actually really fascinating.”
Alya sat back dumbly. “Wow, this is a lot to take in.”
Trixx laid down on the brim of Nino’s hat, leaning off the edge to look at him. His eyes crossed slightly as he looked at the little orange kwami. “So sweetie, how long have you been hanging out with my bff Plagg and his lovebug?”
“Um, about three months. They were really excited when the new heroes showed up last month.” Nino smiled at Trixx before he began to dig around in his bag for something. “I’ve been excited to meet you Trixx. You’re welcome in my bag at school whenever you’d like, just make sure Plagg and Tikki aren’t canoodling it up in there first.”
Trixx snickered. “Oh I will. Those two are sickeningly sweet when they’re together. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you that though.”
Nino laughed. “Not at all. I’ll try to talk about how amazing Alya is and I can’t even get through an entire sentence before Plagg is off on a Tikki tangent while she’s right there! In fact, just the other… Ah ha!” Nino finally found what he’d been rummaging for in his bag, holding up a ziplock bag filled with dried fruits triumphantly. “After the new heroes showed up, I had Plagg and Tikki tell me what each of you ate just in case either Rena or Bee ended up in a similar situation to Ladybug. Plagg said you liked dried fruit so I got a bunch of different kinds since I didn’t know if you had a specific favorite.
Trixx took a swan dive directly into the fruit bag Nino held open. She popped her head up a moment later, a dried pineapple in one paw and a dried apricot in the other. “Alya, with how often you talk about Nino, I thought you were building him up a bit much, but I like him. You should keep him forever.”
Nino laughed, smiling at Alya. “So you’ve been talking about me? Alya, do you have a crush on me or something? How embarrassing.”
Alya snorted. “Nino, we’re dating, of course I have a crush on you. And from what you just said, it sounds like you’ve been talking about me too.” She leaned forward and gave him a little peck. “So this wasn’t exactly how I plan me revealing my secret identity to you to go, but what are your thoughts on me being Rena?”
Setting the fruit and Trixx filled bag next to the pair, Nino looked at his girlfriend. He noticed Alya twisting her hands out of nervousness, so he gently pulled them into his own. “Am I a little scared you’re going to get hurt fighting the akuma? There is no doubt about that.” Alya deflated slightly, looking away from him. Nino let go of one of her hands, tilting her chin back so she would look at him. “However, I am so proud of you. You have been kicking akuma butt and looking good while doing it! You know I’ll support you no matter what, and superheroing is no different.”
Nino and Alya both leaned in, pressing their foreheads together. “Thank you for being so understanding. I mean, I knew you would be, but I was still nervous. My parents took it well too, but not nearly this well.”
“Hm, your parents already knowing might explain the smirks and wink on our way in here.” Alya groaned.
“I told them that I was going to tell you I was Rena today, so probably. That’s what the cookies are for, they’re celebration cookies.” The couple chuckled over Alya’s parent’s antics.
“You know what you being Rena does mean though right?” Alya shook her head. “It means I’m dating a superhero and anyone dating a superhero knows they have to try the Spiderman kiss at some point.” Nino wiggled his eyebrows at his girlfriend.
Alya doubled over in laughter and Trixx began to chortle around the dried blueberries she’d just shoved in her mouth. “We’ll see if you’re that lucky one of these days bubble boy. For now, just kiss me like a normal person.”
“Of course, my vixen.” As Nino closed the distance between him and Alya, he decided that no matter how Alya had thought her reveal would go, this ending was so much better.
A few minutes later, Nino and Alya were interrupted by a tiny cleared throat. Trixx looked just slightly sheepish as she held up the now empty ziplock bag. “Do you have any more.”
Nino was only slightly surprised Trixx had finished the bag so quickly. Plagg did tell Nino that her appetite was even bigger than his. “I do in fact, have another bag. Let me grab it.” Nino reached over and started rummaging in his bookbag again.
Trixx flew over to her chosen. “You know what Alya, I changed my mind. Let him go so I can have him and he can feed me fruit forever.” The couple laughed as the kwami looked at them both with complete seriousness.
-o-o-o-o-o-
Two weeks later, Nino found himself directly in an akuma’s line of fire. He closed his eyes, bracing for an impact that never came. Instead, someone picked him up. Opening his eyes, he saw Rena Rouge running to a nearby alley.
She set him down below a building’s fire escape. “Nino, you have to be more careful! I know the miraculous cure fixes everything, but I still don’t think I could stand seeing you get hurt.”
Nino brought a hand up, caressing her face gently. “Sorry Al, I thought I’d had a clean shot to get out. I promise to evaluate the situation more.”
Rena hugged him. “Thank you.” She pulled out of the embrace when the akuma roared down the street. “Now, this is an alley I transform in sometimes. At the end there is a space where you can squeeze through onto the next street. Please go home, or somewhere else safe until this is all over.” Nino gave a sharp nod in confirmation. He watched Rena jump onto the fire escape before turning and beginning to walk away.
“Hey bubbles.” Nino turned to seen Rena Rouge hanging upside down from the landing of the fire escape. He rushed back over, standing before his superhero of a girlfriend.
To kiss her, he had to stand on his toes a little and both their noses bumped into the other’s chin, but it was still the most romantic kiss of Nino’s entire life. They broke apart with another screech from the akuma. “Go kick his ass, babe.” With another quick peck, Rena Rouge flipped herself back upright and raced up the rest of the fire escape.
Nino sighed wistfully as he watched Rena sail off the roof to the tune of her flute. “Mon Dieu, I love that girl.”
