Tumblr media
You woke up to a pounding headache and dry throat. But with your friends around, you knew that you would end up drinking more than you can handle and make even more crazy decisions. Speaking of your friends.
Oh shit, what time was it?
The alarm clock on the side of your bed flashed 11:30am. You groaned, massaging your temples.
Well, so much for brunch at The Cosmopolitan.
In annoyance, you snatched your phone from the nightstand. Turning it on, you read a message from your best friend.
Sorry, hun! Was gonna wake you up but then we saw you snuggled up to that hottie from the club last night. Don’t worry, we’ll bring you something when we come back. Have fun with your man 😘 Lmk if you need more of those XL condoms 😉
What the fuck was she-
Oh…
On the opposite side of the queen sized bed was a naked man, whose body looked like it was sculpted like Michaelangelo himself. Not to mention, red scratch marks trailed down his back as if a rabid animal attacked him. That couldn’t have been your doing…right?
He began to roll over, exposing his equally sculpted chest and abs that was littered in hickies and kiss marks. Your eyes widened when you realized the lip stains on his body matched the shade of your lipstick from last night. As you wiped the side of your mouth, your smeared lipstick appeared on your fingertips. Finally awake, the man stared at you, leaning against his propped arm. You tried not to stare at his bulging bicep, but he caught on as he smirked.
“Good morning, sweetheart,” the man slurred with a low, sexy morning voice that was richer than the coffee you craved to cure your hangover. His eyes scanned your bare torso, smirking as you quickly covered yourself.
“No need to be embarrassed, sweetheart,” he chuckled and you watched his chest rise and fall. “I already know you look beautiful naked.” Your cheeks heated up and you slowly let the blanket fall in your lap.
“I know I should care about the reason why you’re naked in my bed, but I will just enjoy it for a moment.”
The man laughed again. “Well you and I got pretty drunk last night and I guess one thing led to another…”
Now your memories were coming back to you. You and your friends went club hopping on the strip, and you met the guy in bed with you on the bus ride there. While you were still sober, you and he chatted over how you were in Vegas for your friend’s birthday, and he was there to get over some family issues he dealt with in the past month.
By the time you got to the club, he paid for you and your friends' drinks. You basically left both of your groups to dance with each other but would still follow each other on each ride to the different clubs. At the end of the night, you and he went back to your room while both of your friend groups stayed behind to find a place to eat. The rest of the night with him was still a blur but it was pretty clear that you both slept with each other. Only thing was, you forgot his name.
“I’m sorry,” you started, “but can you remind me of your name please?”
“Don’t sweat it. It’s Shangqi.” You nodded and then gave him your name.
“I remember your name, sweetheart.” Shangqi smiled. “Surprised you forgot mine when you were screaming it all night long.”
You clenched your jaw as you grew wet between your legs. The urge to pounce on him was strong, especially with the way he stretched across the bed. Your gaze automatically landed on his groin that hid underneath the bed sheet.
“I’ll take it that you like what you see,” Shangqi teased once he caught you staring. You curled your lips inward as your face warmed up. He decided to change the subject to spare you of your embarrassment.
“Got any plans for today?” Shangqi asked.
“I was supposed to go to brunch with my friends but seeing that they found us sleeping together, they decided it was best to leave me behind.” Shangqi gave you an apologetic look, feeling bad that he kept you from your friends. You reassured him, “Don’t worry though, I had a great time last night. I mean, I don’t remember everything that happened, but I know it was fun.”
“Yeah, we went through like 5 condoms last night.” He picked up an opened condom packet, causing your breath to hitch when you realized it was a gold XL packet like your friend mentioned in the text.
You huffed out a flustered breath. “Wow, I guess there is a lot more that I don’t remember from last night.”
Shangqi’s next words turned you into a puddle. “Want me to jog your memory, sweetheart?”
You bit your lip as your thighs rubbed together to ease the growing need in your core. God, this man made it extremely impossible to resist him. “Yeah, help me remember every single detail.”

The Golden Dagger Club
Tumblr media
Pairing: Shang-chi x symbiote!reader
Word Count: 2145
You were just starting to repair the damages of a recuperating career and then the Blip happened. You were dusted away for five years and appeared back into your shitty apartment – your old shitty apartment that was occupied by someone else – and were left with nothing. Your clothing and furniture were all thrown away and your renewed show was trashed because everyone still alive was trying to cope with the loss of loved ones.
To those that stayed, you were considered lucky. Is it lucky to have nothing to come back to? The banks refused to help and getting any loans needed minimum of five years of income. Obviously that’s impossible as you were dusted for all five of those years making the institution useless. No one was willing to hire either as you were often overqualified or lacked any recent experience in the workforce.
Unlike some of the others who also disappeared, you didn’t have a family to help you adapt to the new culture that flourished whilst you were gone. There was still a semblance of the old but you were on your own.
Waiting was the worst. The United Nations were scrambling to provide provisions, documents, and other essentials for those who came back. It was a real shit show and at times, made you wish you never came back.
You had to worry about scavenging enough food for Venom or else it’s your organs that’ll be on the menu and you want your organs to remain intact and uneaten. You also don’t want to watch Venom bite someone’s head off again. You had to work fast as Venom was most likely going to starve and the government wasn’t working fast enough.
You heard murmurs of an underground tournament that pays very well for winning contestants. You weren’t a stranger of questionably immoral activities. You and Venom needed this. It was a saving grace in the waiting game of darkness. The United Nations were behind on provisions and housings, and you couldn’t wait for the miracle of them hurrying along the process.
So you left. The world didn’t need to know you were back, undusted and alive. It had moved on without you and there was no point in sticking around. The world would believe you were the unlucky ones to be at the wrong place during the Snap.
The world would get to learn of the existence of Venom, see the both of you as more than a blurry black figure from security cameras. See the two of you reappear after your hiatus. Your reappearance will be on that podium, hundred of eyes on you, seeing you, and cheering for you.
You had arrived to your brand new start. A new beginning to the end of a shitty chapter. “Welcome to the Golden Daggers Club! We’re a multi-platform global operation. Every fight live streamed on the dark web. Thousands of viewers placing bets as we speak.” The ringmaster, Jon Jon, explained as he handed you the sign up sheet. You read carefully, not wanting to be screwed over in the end, and when you deemed everything acceptable you signed on. It was fast and easy. Pen on paper and suddenly a new door opened.
There must’ve been hundreds of people in the unfinished building. Small cells, containing smaller fights, lead up to the giant podium where the grander fights and higher betting stakes take place. Within the club, you had to earn your place. Starting in those small cells and work your way up to become a favorite.
Your first opponent was no one memorable. They were enhanced to some degree but nothing remotely close to be able to take the two of you down. It was almost too easy but Venom adored the attention they’d garnered. On the other side of the cell were many onlookers, wanting to see more of the alien creature. It was itching more for fights, more advanced opponents, and scoring chocolate money. The club loved Venom. The fame and attention caught the curiosity of the club’s founder.
Xu Xialing was cold, complex, and a fighter. Her coldness was strictly targeted to men but once she saw the person beneath Venom, she’d lighten up around the two of you. You became her friend. You’d learn bits and pieces of her past while you shared yours. She’d given you a chance to start anew even if she didn’t know it. You felt like you owed her for providing a way to provide for Venom in a way your old job couldn’t. You and Venom took it upon yourselves to take out the trash, people who were trying to shut her operation down. The club meant so much to people and you didn’t want anyone to shit on the empire she’d built.
It was a night like any other. Bets were placed and the money just kept coming. The bar was filled as always and Venom was itching for its turn. “Take it easy on the chocolates, it’s about to be your turn.” You were currently watching the fight between Abomination, who was broken out of prison by his opponent, and the current Sorcerer Supreme, Wong. Wong seemed overwhelmed at first but managed to get Abomination to punch themselves.
“I’ve worked up an appetite.” Venom grunted as they bit the whole chocolate bar in its entirety. You could feel it buzzing with excitement.
Wong had won his fight and you were walking towards the main stage. “Doing what, sitting?” You replied as Venom’s pitch black skin covered you fully. Your thin arms concealed by its large muscles and build. No one in the crowd would ever guess who was underneath its skin.
The name of your opponent was called Flux. You had seen his fights before, seen him climb up ranks. You nor Venom were worried though. You’d let Venom take full control as it was its moment not yours. Venom tore onto the stage, hyping up the crowd, and waited for the fight to begin. The lights, the cheers, and the overwhelming anticipation riddled your being. It was exhilarating and you couldn’t wait for Venom to have the time of its life.
Flux wasn’t overpowered by much. Having superhuman strength, stamina and durability assists in keeping up with you and Venom. You’d been lucky no one has caught on to your weaknesses. As Venom controlled your body, you thought about how different your life had become and how thankful you were for being the right match for Venom. Feeling the immense happiness originating from it makes you happy. You knew Venom felt miserable hidden within your body, not allowed to stretch till night fell. Here in the club, it didn’t matter. Almost every fighter had some enhancement that made them different from everyone else. Had skills most didn’t possess.
Once the fight was over, the club’s staff members dragged Flux away towards the locker room. Venom, after celebrating its win with the crowd, followed afterwards. A giant teeth-filled grin dwelled on its face until its skin disappeared into your body.
You opened your designated locker and pulled out a box of chocolates and a 12 pack of diet soda. Opening them one by one you feed Venom by placing them into its mouth and congratulating them on its win while you consume the diet soda. In moments like these Venom resembled a puppy. Craved for your attention and wanted to feel loved.
You’d notice Jon Jon speaking to someone you’d only seen on your phone. The Bus Boy video that’s been dominating the internet. Venom had dismissed the guy as he wasn’t anything special except for maybe his delicious brain but you didn’t want to find out.
“[Reader], Venom,” Jon Jon yelled, “the boss wants to talk!” The guy next to him watched curiously at the Venom head appearing out of your side.
“If anyone steals even one chocolate or soda, I’ll bite your head off and feast on your organs.” Venom made sure to show off its teeth to the remaining contenders before going to Xialing’s office. You sat down on a chair waiting for her to arrive. Jon Jon left the dubbed Bus Boy in her office as well. He stayed standing, not knowing what to do. He was nervous, that was evident, and a bit awkward.
“Do you know who we are supposed to meet?” He didn’t know how to talk to you or Venom. If he were being honest, Venom kinda scared him. The threats given did not help at all. “I need to find my sister. Do you know her, Xu Xialing?” You noticed he kept a white tissue around his nostrils. The metallic smell of blood allowed you to know the reason why.
You stayed quiet not knowing the reason as to why he was asking. Knowing he was in her workplace, she’ll show herself eventually.
She walked in, taking her place behind her laptop.
“You run this place?” He talked in Mandarin.
“I own it.” She replied back.
Another woman was let in by Jon Jon, counting the stack of cash as she walked into the room. She was adorable when she was caught red handed. Having bet against the man, her friend apparently. “Did you bet against me?”
“No.” She lied. “I bet on that Venom dude earlier.” In an attempt to change the subject, she turned the attention on you and Xialing, “Hi Xialing and stranger. I’m Katy. You’re, like, such a badass. Everything that you do is, like, so cool. That was really cool.” She walked towards one of the seats next to her friend, which you still did not have a name for.
“This is [Reader].” Xialing replied, “The Venom dude from earlier.”
Katy gasped excitedly, “No way! I thought Venom had more muscles. Love the costume by the way. What fabric do you use?” She shook your hand frantically and laughed, “Your fight was so amazing. You made me a lot of money.”
You had never integrated with someone who had so much shameless confidence. She had seen you and Venom fight and she was treating you like a hero. Most run away at the sight of the two of you. It was a nice change of scenery. “Alien, I guess? Venom come out and say ‘hello’ to a fellow fan.”
“A fan…” He muttered as he moved his head towards her, “So unafraid, so courageous. You shall not be eaten.”
She chuckled nervously, “Thank you.”
“I like your pants.” Xialing turned the conversation towards herself.
Katy blushed, “Thank you. Thanks. Yeah.” She was obviously flattered by the compliment as she smoothed out her yellow pants.
“What do you want?” The coldness of Xialing's voice appeared suddenly. A certain sharpness you had never heard, finally making its existence known.
“The Ten Rings ambushed us in San Francisco.” San Francisco was the place where you once lived. The tomb of the life you once had.
“I saw the video.” Everyone had seen the video. It became a viral phenomenon which was rare as it raced against hero and alien sightings, and meet and greets with international heroes.
“They took my pendant. They’re gonna come for yours next.” You had learned about the pendant Xialing never took off as it was a gift from her mother. To learn he shared the same or similar pendant must mean only one thing. “I don’t know what he wants with them, but we both know it can’t be good.”
“You know what he said to me when he left?” You heard this story only once. It was a painful memory of abandonment and the loss of a sibling. Not in death, but in spirit. Lost of hope while living in the fragments of an once happy family. “‘I’ll be back in three days.’ And after three days, I went to our mom’s shrine and waited. Three days turned into a week, a week turned to a month, and a month turned to six years. That’s how long it took me to realize I didn’t need him any more. I built this place on my own. I didn’t need you then, and I don’t need you now.”
“I volunteer to eat him.” Venom liked Xialing. She snuck chocolates to it and was the first person, who wasn’t [Reader], to not be afraid of it. She gave you and it a home. “I’ll make it painful.” He licked his lips to scare Xialing’s brother even more.
Xialing smiled at Venom. It was the thought that counted and Venom meant well. He inched away from you and asked, “Then why would you send me the postcard?”
“What postcard?”
He got up from his seat and reached into his pockets. He slowly walked towards her before handing it to her.
“I didn’t send you this.” After she spoke those words, everything went to shit.

i’ll be getting over you my whole life (teenage!shang-chi x fem!reader)
A little thing, because I was inspired and I have a newfound love after watching Shang-chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings again. Also, I realize there aren’t enough fics for this guy. Maybe a part two soon xo
+++
There is a weight that you have to learn to live with when you eat and sleep, and if you’re a boy, train, at the Ten Rings compound.
It’s something you discover your mind only has the capacity to form around so you bend and don’t break.
He pulled you aside just a moment before, but it wasn’t to say anything. In the shadowed, open-air hall that lines the outside courtyard, he stands opposite of you.
This is a new, soft thing, and those are hard to find as deep and high in the mountains as you both are in this compound, so he doesn’t touch you. Not at first. His face gives away nothing, but you’ve been learning how to read his eyes. They hold the depths of all that he is holding but doesn’t speak about.
If your mother was here, she might roll her eyes at the way you think about him. The way you act as if you are beyond the age of 14 (though in some ways, you are). She would tell you, from the wisdom of experience, that you should be careful. That the pain that came from first love as a teenager wasn’t always worth it. That there were more important things to focus on.
Shang-qi’s touch is tender as he leans forward and slowly takes your hand in his. It’s somewhat unfamiliar and awkward because you two haven’t had a lot of time, if any, to spend together. But there have been some sweet pockets, little moments, where his smile changes the whole course of your monotonous day. Stolen glances before training as you linger as long as you can in the courtyard before you are sent away. Whispers in the darkened hallway between his room and yours. Sitting across from each other at breakfast, before anyone else has arrived, early enough to watch the sunrise without interruption.
You both don’t understand much about dating, or love, but you understand that whatever this is between you needs to stay under the radar and private. You think you’ve done a good enough job to not alert anybody, especially Shang-qi’s father. He’s gone a lot anyway.
There’s a weight Shang-qi carrying tonight that he wasn’t carrying before. It’s in the set of his shoulders and his posture.
You hold his hand for a moment longer before releasing it.
Instead, your hands come to cup his face.
“Do what you must tonight.”
You let the silence surrounding you both echo your words as Shang-qi exhales. A small moment of vulnerability comes as he presses his forehead to yours. You close your eyes and soak in the feeling.
When you open your eyes and find Shang-qi gazing at you, you know. He won’t be making any promises to you tonight.
Your eyes begin to water but you swallow the tears into your throat and inhale. You take a second quick breath once you realize this is the closest his lips have come to yours.
You try to imprint this feeling into your mind so that when you remember this moment again, you can make it last as long as you can.
He cannot bear to stay goodbye, so he will not say anything at all.
“Go,” You take a step back, “Your last words should be to her.”
Xialing, his sister, waits on the steps a few feet in front of you. He gives you one last lingering look and then turns to sit with her. They talk only for a moment before the sound of helicopter blades echoes against the sides of the mountain and almost overwhelms the silence the compound is set in.
You can tell even from the distance that he says no words when Wenwu greets him. He only nods as he grabs his bag and walks away.
It will be fifteen years before you see him again.

Call Me Lover
Pairings: Xu Shang Chi x fem!Reader; Unspecified Male Avenger x Reader
Summary: Shang Chi is in love with his best friend but she is with someone else. He’s unsure if he’ll be able to keep a handle on his feelings for much longer. Based on Call Me Lover by Sam Fender.
A/N: Tried to be as vague as possible when describing the boyfriend so you can imagine one of your other Avenger faves. Please let me know who you pictured! I get curious about these things lol.
Tumblr media
You know I'll be down here waiting
I'll take you to see your man
A shiver sent its way down your spine as you and your best friend, Shang Chi left the movie theatre. He could see the goosebumps on your arms from the cool evening air and instinctively offered his jacket. You gladly accepted, putting the jacket on over your shoulders and inhaling the gorgeous scent of his cologne. He sighed contentedly at the sight you wearing his clothes and fell even harder for you.
It was a late night trip to see some forgettable movie. Your boyfriend was coming home from a mission that night and time had almost stopped completely as you had waited for him all afternoon. So you called up your best distraction, Shang-Chi with a request that you do absolutely anything to stop you from clock watching.
As soon as your name lit up on his phone, it didn’t matter what you were about to ask. Shang Chi was there. He was completely, hopelessly and desperately in love with you.
“It won’t be long now until he’s back!” You said excitedly, checking your phone.
Shang Chi’s heart had been fluttering all night in your presence but now it seemed to sink to the pit of his stomach with the mere mention of him. The man who had stole you away from him, the man you loved and the man who was a living, breathing reminder that you belonged to someone else.
“Yep.” Shang Chi shortly replied, popping the ‘P’. “Do you want me to drop you off at the compound?”
“Yes please.”
When you are done, we'll go driving
Catch the coast in the evening light
Shang Chi’s chest tightened as you hummed along to a sweet song on the drive there. Your leg bounced up and down excitedly in anticipation. Your boyfriend had been on this mission for two weeks but it had felt like an eternity waiting for him to come back. He would send sporadic updates that you tried your best not to sit around waiting for. Still, every time your phone made a sound, you had desperately grabbed for it in hopes it was him.
You’d passed the time with your best friend, seeing him almost everyday. Shang Chi obliged of course, he would do anything for you. Anything to have you all to himself without any distractions.
It was getting harder and harder for him to act natural around you. A few nights previous he’d driven you along the coastline before stopping to watch the sunset on the beach. Whilst you had fallen in love with the serene pink sky, he was staring at you and feeling his heart beat so hard it was fighting its way out of his chest. Now a pink sky reminded him of you and a moment that he’d reserve in a special place in his heart forever.
“I don’t know why, he’s literally my boyfriend but I’m very… nervous I guess? Just so excited to see him.” You babbled on to Shang Chi who concentrated all of his anguish into gripping the steering wheel with great force.
“I’m sure he’ll have missed you.” Shang Chi offered in response. It was all he could think of to say that would help him stay in character of the role he played of being the supportive friend. He knew if he had to go two weeks without seeing you that he would have been driven insane.
“Yeah well, I really missed him too. The bed is too cold without him.” You smiled at the thought of being engulfed in the arms of your love later while Shang Chi swallowed thickly. He would have been more than happy to keep you warm and safe at night.
Upon arrival at the compound, you realised you were still wearing Shang Chi’s jacket. It was like a continuous warm hug from your best friend, which you relished in due to the unforgiving chill in the air. However, it didn’t seem very appropriate to be wearing another man’s jacket to greet your boyfriend after two weeks apart, so you took it off.
“Here, honey,” you handed Shang Chi’s jacket back to him. “Thanks for letting me wear it, you always look out for me.”
“Always will.” Shang Chi mumbled in response, taking his jacket back. Fresh wounds opened up seeing you take his jacket off for his benefit. It made your best friend feel like you were discarding him in favour of your boyfriend.
When the plane landed and your boyfriend emerged, unscathed and forming a cheesy smile at the sight of you (which Shang Chi could only describe as insufferable) you ran up to him and threw your arms around his neck desperately. You didn’t leave an inch on his face un-kissed and he had wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you as close to him as possible.
“Hey, beautiful.” He chuckled, rubbing your back soothingly with his hand.
“Hey, lover.” You said teasingly in between kisses, an inside joke between you both.
I love it when you call me, "Lover"
Ooh, lover
Hearing you call someone else “lover” was an assault on Shang Chi’s emotional state. It was agonising, like he was trapped in Room 101 and his personal torturer had selected this specifically knowing how much it was going to hurt.
Shang Chi had often slipped into a daydream where he imagined a world where you were his. You’d give him the beautiful doe eyes that you had reserved for your boyfriend. You’d hold on to his arm and kiss his cheek while you walked through the farmers market. The two of you would see old couples and lament on how that’s definitely going to be you when you’re older. Most importantly, you’d call him “lover”.
In his head, you would do all the things for him that he’s seen you do for your boyfriend. When Shang Chi wasn’t there, you’d talk about him to your friends with the same glee and cheesy grin with which you talk about your real lover.
Sometimes when you were together and you’d accidentally brush his arm or you hugged him or called him a cute pet name like “honey” or “sweetie”, it would send him into that utopia in his mind where you were his. A little grin would emerge on his face as he pictured a cute scenario of you both together until you would snap him out of it, laughing at how distracted and dazed he could be. The embarrassment would send sharp pains in his chest and stomach, being almost sure that you could see inside his brain and he had been exposed.
He even dreamed about you when he fell asleep at night and would wake up clutching his pillow so tight his fingers hurt. Then, he’d let out some soft cries into the pillow, wishing it was you he was holding on to instead.
Then he’d think about while he was desperate and crying for you, you were probably in the arms of your boyfriend and sleeping softly, without so much as a thought for Shang Chi.
She gives me those eyes when her man's in plain sight
Or am I just mistaken?
You appreciated the moment of having your boyfriend back in your arms, rubbing your thumb along his cheekbone and giving him gentle kisses as he told you just how much he’d missed you. After a while you took his hand and wandered back over to Shang Chi who stood awkwardly, as if waiting to be dismissed by you.
“Thanks for driving my girl up here, man. It’s a long drive back to the city, you’re more than welcome to stay here for the night.” Your boyfriend smiled at Shang Chi and gave him what was intended to be a friendly pat on the shoulder. Shang Chi frowned at the sight of that man’s hands on him and interpreted the act as being patronising. He was sure that your boyfriend knew just how helplessly in love with you that he was. Being with you was him stabbing Shang Chi in the side. Offering him a place to stay the night where there was a chance he’d hear your reunion sex was the knife being twisted.
But it was you that struck the most painful blow. You looked up at him through your lashes with those gorgeous doe eyes that Shang Chi had thought he’d never be on the receiving end of. You raised your eyebrow in anticipation of his response with a soft and inviting smile. You wanted him to stay.
Shang Chi stared at you in disbelief. You were clinging on to your boyfriend’s arm who you hadn’t stopped talking about all night but were giving him those eyes that he’d dreamed about. He cursed himself for having been so desperate to see them because now he had and he wasn’t allowed to reach forward and kiss you. It was his breaking point.
Enough was enough. He knew he had to start the process of self preservation before his heart broke completely.
“No thanks, I’m gonna head home.” Shang Chi replied grumpily and pushed past your boyfriend. It made you scowl, your best friend was never usually abrupt or rude like that. He was outgoing and gentle and cheerful. It set off alarm bells in your head as you followed him with your eyes.
“Well that was just plain weird.” Your boyfriend smirked. When he looked at your expression he could see just how shocked and stung you were at your best friend’s actions. You couldn’t offer an explanation or even an excuse for him and it bothered you. There was something clearly wrong and you hated the idea of being kept in the dark about it.
“I think I’m gonna go check on him. I won’t be long, baby.” You decided and kissed his cheek. He nodded in response and headed into the compound to relax and wait patiently for you to return and take your rightful place in his arms. You turned on your heel and set off after your best friend.
We will break under circumstance in the heat of it all
Can you take all the pressure that is left behind?
Shang Chi mentally berated himself on the way back to the car for having been so rude. He didn’t want to be and it honestly didn’t sit right with him, even if he did find your boyfriend extremely annoying. He had been kicked into touch and survival mode from all of those years of assassin training had taken over. Instincts were telling him he needed to get as far away from you as possible.
Unfortunately, you weren’t letting him get away so easily.
“Wait up! You’re not going anywhere until you explain what that was back there!” You shouted after him as you desperately tried to keep up with him. He took long and efficient strides forwards, knowing that if he could just get to the car, he could drive away and cry his eyes out in the safety of his own company.
“It’s nothing. Go back and see your man. He’s missed you.” He responded.
You managed to catch up and grabbed his arm, moving him to face you. You observed his agonised expression and the tears forming in his eyes, which worried you even more.
“Not until I know you’re okay.” You asserted. “I know you, remember? And I know that something has upset you. So, spill.”
Shang Chi hated to admit it but you were right. He couldn’t just change his behaviour and expect it to go unnoticed by you. You did know him, probably better than anyone - even more than Katy. It was futile trying to hide this from you anymore. It was time to be honest.
“I can’t do this anymore.” He sighed, looking down to avoid your gaze.
“Do what?”
“This. Me and you. I fucking… I love you okay? I love you. And seeing you with him, it really fucks me up because I wish it was me. I know this makes me such a shitty person because you have a boyfriend but I can’t do this anymore. I love you.”
The admission was a cathartic cocktail of painful yet relieved emotions. Finally, you knew and he didn’t have the burden of carrying around this heavy secret anymore. On the other hand, it risked losing you forever.
The confession of love had stunned you into silence. You desperately tried to achieve eye contact with him in search of a sign that he might be joking. You had no such luck; all you could find in his eyes was torment and hurt. He loved you.
“Sweetie, I don’t know what to say…” You began but were unable to finish. You put your brain to work to formulate a thoughtful response but no inspiration took hold. There was no way to make him feel better about this. You couldn’t make him promises or give him the romance movie moment of throwing caution to the wind and pulling him by his jacket for a deep kiss. You already belonged to someone else.
“It’s okay,” Shang Chi said, breaking the awkward silence. “We can talk about it another time but I need to get outta here.”
With that he kissed your forehead lightly and lingered for a second to savour the moment. Slowly, he leaned back and got into his car and took off. You were left standing there, feeling like you had been suffocated. You inhaled a few greedy gulps of air in an attempt to steady yourself and wondered how you would explain what had just happened to your boyfriend. Your brain was on standby as you stood rooted to your spot, trying to process what had just happened.
In the car, Shang Chi fought back furiously at the tears threatening to spill from his eyes. He tried to stifle the lump that was achingly stuck in his throat with the anxiety that he might have just destroyed your friendship. You were the most important person in his life and he had potentially just thrown all of that away. To put it bluntly: it hurt.
He found himself sink back into that unhealthy tendency of daydreaming about you again to avoid facing the severity of the situation at hand. Suddenly, his mind started to ease and his body relaxed.
He walked into his apartment on a bright Saturday morning. The light streamed in from the window to accentuate your beautiful frame as you lay in his bed waiting for him. Shang Chi set down the coffee and bagels he bought the two of you for breakfast and hovered over you to give you a deep and loving kiss.
“Hey, baby.” He smiled against your mouth before you pulled him down on to the bed with you.
“Hey, lover.”
I love it when you call me, "Lover"
Ooh, lover

Why is it people seem to love and forgive complex, sympathetic male villains who struggles with their inner darkness (see also Loki), but as soon as a female one comes along she’s either accused of being an “evil bitch” or “badly written”?

Valet- Xu Shang-Chi

Pairing: Xu Shang-Chi x Reader
Characters: Xu Shang-Chi
Warnings: N/A
Request: N/A
Word Count:404
Author: Aaron
“This is bullshit.” You faked a smile and waved off another pretentious, arrogant customer. “Driving a car worth more than my yearly salary and this asshole can’t even give me a decent tip.” You took the few small, crumpled dollar bills from the dusty tray and stuffed them into your pocket. “Why do we even come here every day.”
“Pays the bills, doesn’t it?” Shaun said waving the next car towards the entrance.
“You’re a funny man Shaun… did anybody ever tell you that?” Shaun took the keys from the presumed banker… stockbroker... what ever other bullshit jobs that just existed to feed money into the pockets of the already affluent and ushered them through the entrance, you watched as the well-dressed woman placed something gently into Shaun’s hand.
“Sometimes, but this funny man just netted himself a twenty.” Shaun held the crisp note up proudly towards the sun before folding it and gently placing it into his top pocket. “It’s all about the smile, this place might pay your bills if you put some actual effort into being able to talk to people.” He shrugged smugly.
“Very good. Proud of yourself?” You asked with a dropped face. “I just feel like there’s more to life than standing in a parking lot and driving other peoples fancy cars while I can barely afford the payments on my death-trap of a car, you know?” Shaun nodded in subtle agreement. “My friend, we, are destined for some kind of greatness in this world, you know what I mean?”
“Trust me, our life isn’t exactly luxury but its simple. We go to bed at night, we wake up, we eat… whatever. It might be boring but its consistent and it’s safe.”
“Safe? We live in a not exactly nice part of San Francisco, do you know how many times I’ve been mugged on my walk home from this hellhole?” Shaun chuckled as he played with the keys to the vehicle that he had been entrusted with.
“Maybe safe was a bit of an overstatement but at least we don’t live in New York… bad stuff always seems to go down with the avengers over there. I don’t care how cheap the rent gets you won’t catch me renting an apartment over there. Sure it wont cost nearly as much as it used to but insurance still doesn’t cover alien attacks or the hulk smashing through your windows.”

currents swept you out (high tide came and brought you in) [shang-chi x fem!reader]
Tumblr media
Almost a year later, but the muse came. (Sorry but also not sorry! xo)
I love all the melancholy and weight in Shang-chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. It's something I tried to explore here but I'm (of course) unsure if that was conveyed well.
Also shoutout to the sweet anon who asked about a part 2 to i'll be getting over you my who life many months ago! It kept some of my motivation for this up and kept me from deleting the draft.
Anyways, I love Shang-Chi and I would love to see more writing for him!!!
Please like, comment, and reblog! xo
+++
You think you catch glimpses of him throughout the years. A mirage of his figure around the corner, in a shadowed hallway. When you lay outside among the trees, you swear you see a vision of his face as the sun shines down on you. In the brief moments where the quiet becomes too much at the compound, you glance over your shoulder to see if he’s waiting for you, like he did before when you would sneak around for a quick word or a forbidden touch.
But Shang-qi is not there anymore, not here at all, and you don’t see him anywhere. He feels everywhere but you also know he is nowhere you can reach. Nowhere you can go. He cannot appear to you, even when that’s the only thing you want.
He is a ghost that lingers, but he is a ghost nonetheless.
And when you finally escape the compound and head for Ta Lo, you resolve to leave his ghost where it belongs: in the past.
You aren’t expecting to see Shang-qi in Ta Lo when he finally comes. You aren’t expecting to see him at all. Nan had told you that they had prepared for both his and Xialing’s arrival, but you doubted that he would ever come.
You are not even part of the welcoming group when his company rolls up in the car. First treated as a hostile group, then welcome like family. Your duties keep you physically away but the longing in your heart pulls at you no matter the distance you happen to keep from Shang-qi or Xialing.
You long to see his face, to watch as his eyes light with recognition (if, in fact, he did remember you at all). An ache deepens, and the pulling in your heart becomes slightly painful. You decide you don’t know what will be worse: living with the pain in your heart and leaving him alone or being in his presence after fifteen years of absence and wondering and grief.
When you feel your heart has gathered enough courage, you go to find him. Though the scenery is much different, for a moment you are reminded of when you would look for him at just fourteen years old, willing to risk what felt like it all at the time just to see him transiently.
The teenage love you for him that felt so all-consuming now just makes you feel forlorn.
You sit down next to him and greet him, "Shang-qi."
He turns his face and looks at you. It takes a second but there is a little surprise amidst his recognition. There is something else, too, something deeper. Something that you may not have words for but you understand all the same. A tenderness and vulnerability is there, but also shadows and fog. The rawness of what he felt fifteen years ago has dimmed with age and grief
"It was a long time ago when we last saw each other..."
"I didn't even know if you were still alive." He shakes his head and clasps his hands together on his lap.
"I found my own way," You smile, leaning in to his space before retreating.
There is a brief silence that elapses. One filled with a strange, awkward sense of peace. Or maybe comfort.
"I have heard you are trying to find your own."
"That's one way of putting it." His brow furrows and his eyes take on a different kind of shine. It's not as light as it was.
There is a gap of fifteen years in which you both lived without each other. Whatever innocent little thing you shared with him before he left to make another life for himself has been overshadowed and forgotten for things far more substantial.
For a moment the teenage girl in your heart cries. She wonders if you will ever know his lips on yours or his hands in your hair or a smile meant only for you. It is all she has ever wanted. Adult you, however, knows that the chasm between then and now is something that may not ever be able to be bridged between the two of you. And though Shang-qi is sitting beside you now, you recognize that you may never get to find what was lost so suddenly fifteen years ago.
Shang-qi may never stop being a ghost that haunts all your what-ifs and maybes.
“You were so heavy,” Your hands close around his. “So hard. Brittle. When I was younger, until you left the compound, all I wanted was to help you bear your burdens, but I know now that you wouldn’t have let me. If I asked you now, I think you still wouldn’t let me.”
Shang-qi doesn’t say anything, but you can tell from his eyes that he’s listening. He’s always listening. But his muscles are still tense, his shoulders tight. Still listening but withholding at the same time. Always withholding.
“I know I can’t solve this for you — whatever it is you are trying to fix. I can’t do any of this for you; you must do it for yourself,” You remove your hands from their place over his and expel a deep breath. “But I hope you know you can lay some of what you carry down.”
It is still quiet when you stand from your seated position next to him, but the quiet has transformed. It’s no longer peaceful for comfortable or familiar, but solemn and weighty. No matter how much you may wish to, you cannot untangle Shang-qi’s knots for him. You cannot bridge the gap between the present and past for the both of you. You can only decide to do it for yourself and and hope that he meets you halfway.
“Shang-qi,” It takes a moment, but he tilts his head up and his eyes meet yours, “I know who you are. I’ve never forgotten. But you seem to have, and what we — I — want is for you to remember.”

Stepping through the portal you had created for yourself, you smiled at the three faces staring back at you from the room on the other side.
“Sorry I’m late.” You apologized, stepping into the quaint, book-filled room.
“Traffic?” Wong asked rhetorically, gesturing to the portal that showed your bedroom still open on the other side behind you.
“You know,” You said, closing the portal and turning back to him. “At least one of us stays for longer than two seconds.”
Rolling his eyes, recalling his brief conversation with Bruce Banner and Carol Danvers not even a minute before, he said nothing.
Considering his silence as a win, you finally faced the two other individuals within the room- the ones Wong had told you about prior to requesting your presence at this meeting today. He had told you about the man’s past, his skills and the frankly heroic victory he and his friend had secured during a battle in his mother’s village to keep not only themselves but this dimension safe from creatures that sucked the souls from living beings.
It was impressive to say the least.
Smiling brightly at the two confused faces- no doubt asking themselves who you were- you reached out your hand and shook the both of theirs.
“It’s so nice to finally meet the both of you,” You smiled before introducing yourself. “My name’s Y/n, but you might better know me as Sorceress.”
As soon as your alias fell from your lips, the two of their faces lit up as their jaws dropped and Katy, who had been shaking your hand, tightened her grip and shook it more aggressively.
“We used to watch clips of you fighting all the time during the Blip-” Shang-Chi started.
“Yeah,” Katy agreed, still gripping your hand as if her life depended on it. “You’re, like, such a badass.”
Not often used to hearing praise, you couldn’t help the grin on your face as you laughed.
“I could say the same for the two of you.” You argued, turning to Shang-Chi. “I mean the way you fight is incredibly impressive. I could never fight like that. And you,” You said turning back to face Katy. “It takes guts to do what you did. It’s important to have people you can trust by your side.”
Finally releasing yourself from Katy’s tight grip, you shot them each one last smile before turning back to Wong and the display of the ten rings on the table.
“So, what were we talking about?” You asked.
“Well,” Wong began. “If you had been on time for once-”
“When I used the ten rings for the first time,” Shang-Chi interrupted. “It set off this beacon.”
“Do we know what it’s calling?” You asked.
“Not now.” Wong said. “We’ll have to wait and see.”
You hated that phrase.
Waiting to see what inevitable force would come for your planet was nerve-wracking to say the least- and not knowing if it came with good intentions was even worse.
However, your job was to worry, not to worry everyone else.
So you shrugged and smiled softly.
“I guess so.”
“So that’s it?” Katy asked. “Meeting’s over?”
“Well,” You said, glancing at your watch. “It’s only eight o’clock. If you have any other ideas...”
Almost as if they had planned it, Shang-Chi and Katy looked at each other in sync and shrugged.
“Well-”
-
That’s how you ended up sitting on the soft couch of the tiny karaoke room the four of you had rented, laughing as you watched Wong, Shang-Chi and Katy sing the lyrics to “Hotel California” all while their arms were draped over one another.
It was comedic to say the least.
As the song came to a close, you laughed, clapping your hands and cheering for the three singers as Katy and Wong descended from their nonexistent stage. Watching as Wong immediately flopped onto the couch and downed a shot after his “performance”, you chuckled until you felt a slight nudge at your arm, turning to Katy who was now sat beside you, but when you did, you followed her line of sight to Shang-Chi who was standing in front of you, reaching out a microphone in your direction.
Beginning to grow flustered, you frantically shook your head.
“Oh no,” You said. “I’m not good at singing. I’ll leave it to the professionals.”
“C’mon Y/n,” He said. “You haven’t sang once.”
You weren’t often used to hearing many people call you by your name for the first time. When you had first discovered that you had had powers, you had decided to keep your identity a secret. Only your close friends, family and fellow Avengers knew who you truly were and ever since the battle against Thanos that had brought everyone back, but cost the lives of some of the people closest to you, you hadn’t opened up to people who weren’t already in your dwindling circle
However, hearing him say your name made you feel a skip in your chest that you couldn’t deny- a feeling so long lost that you had almost forgotten it.
You were glad he wasn't able to read minds because you were sure you would have died of embarrassment at how badly you wished for him to say it again.
“I’m really not good at it, Shang-Chi.”
Instead of taking what you said for an answer, he moved the microphone he had been offering to you into his other hand that held his own microphone, and stepping towards the couch, reached his free hand out for you.
“You’ll be fine.” He said. “I promise.”
Biting the inside of your cheek, you weighed your options, but as you glanced up from Shang-Chi’s waiting hand to his face softly smiling down at you, you couldn’t find it in yourself to say no to him.
“Alright, fine.” You agreed, slipping your hand into his. “But just one song.”
As he pulled you off of the couch and handed you your microphone, you shot Katy- the only conscious audience member- a worried glance to which she replied with a wide grin and two thumbs up.
“So what song are we singing?” You asked.
Before he could answer, however, you heard the opening music of “A Whole New World” from Aladdin play from the speakers.
“Seriously?” You asked, giggling.
“Yes seriously!” He said. “It’s a good song- oh wait it’s starting- I can show you the world-”
Not being able to help yourself from laughing as he over-dramatically sang his portion of the song, you quickly grew nervous as you realized your side of the song was coming up. Catching you staring at the screen anxiously as the lyrics came up, you felt his hand gently rest against your arm, giving you a light squeeze.
When you glanced back at him, your eyes briefly met before he turned back to the screen, a smile still present on his face.
Taking a deep, shaky breath you brought the microphone up to your lips.
“A whole new world,” You sang softly, slowly easing up. “A dazzling place I never knew.”
Before you knew it, you had almost completely relaxed while singing Jasmine’s part, you and Shang-Chi practically belting the lyrics as you reached the close of the song, both of you facing each other as you did.
When the song finally came to a close, you laughed as you leaned onto Shang-Chi’s shoulder, bowing as Katy cheered and gave an enthusiastic round of applause to the both of you.
“Thank you! Thank you!” Shang-Chi told Katy before leading the two of you towards the couch.
When he did, Katy hopped off of the couch and grabbed the microphone once again, sorting through an array of songs.
“You’re not as bad as you think you are.” You heard Shang-Chi say. “You’re actually kind of good.”
Turning to face the man beside you, you noticed that he was sitting closer to you now than he was earlier, his body facing towards you as his arm draped along the back of the couch, behind your head.
Feeling your face grow hot at the more intimate seating arrangement, you tried your best to play it cool. You were an Avenger after all.
“Yeah?” You asked, turning your body towards him. “I’m glad you think so. I think we... I think we make a good team.”
As flustered as you were, you didn’t miss the way his eyes shifted from yours to the space between the two of you as he smiled.
“Wow,” He chuckled. “Sorceress herself thinks I make a good teammate? I guess I really am a superhero.”
Swatting his arm, you laughed.
“C’mon, don’t call me that.” You said. “You know my real name.”
“I know, I know.” He said. “Why do you have a fake name anyway?”
Dodging the question, you shrugged.
“Why don’t you go by a fake name?” You teased. “Bus boy not good enough for you?”
You couldn’t help but laugh as you watched him throw his head back and groan at the pseudonym the public had made up for him after one videotaped fight scene on a bus.
“You know about that?”
“Of course I do.” You laughed. “I might not know about everything, but I’m glad I know about you.”
As soon as the words slipped from your mouth, you wished you could’ve swallowed them back up.
However, much to your surprise, rather than him backing away from you and the once fun night ending in an awkward silence, you just heard him laugh sweetly.
“Yeah?” He asked.
Meeting his eyes once again, you swore you saw a hopeful look in his eyes as you took in his features, bathed and highlighted by the multicolored lights shifting throughout the room. Although you were embarrassed by what you had said, you were sure you had meant every word of it as you stared at the man in front of you.
“Yeah-”
“Hey!” You heard the guy you had rented the room from earlier shout through the open door. “We're closing in five! Start heading out!”
Before anyone could reply, however, the man left the doorway, leaving the four of you behind in the room.
“It’s time for me to go back.” A freshly awakened Wong said, already opening a portal back home. “No one tell Strange about this.”
Glancing between the other two people in the room, you nodded.
“My lips are sealed, Wong.”
Without another word, only an understanding nod, Wong stepped through the portal and once his foot was on the other side it closed behind him.
“Well,” Katy said clapping her hands together. “My uber’s outside so I’ll see you tomorrow Shaun.”
“You don’t want me to come with you?”
Glancing between you and Shang-Chi, Katy shook her head, a hint of a smile on her face.
“Nah,” She said. “I’ll see you in the morning.”
Watching as she walked out the door, you patted your pockets to make sure you had everything and when you assured yourself that you did, you looked up to find Shang-Chi staring down at you, his hands dug into his pockets.
“Do you um…” He said, glancing around the room. “Do you need me to walk you home… or anything…?”
“Well, I uh… I live in New York so…” You said, playing with the sleeve of your jacket. “I kind of used a portal to get here…”
“Oh! Yeah, yeah, I forgot about that.” He laughed awkwardly, scratching the back of his neck.
“… But…” You said shyly, looking back up at him. “I could always portal a block away?”
At your proposition, you swore you saw his face light up a bit as he nodded.
“If you insist.” He teased.
Opening the portal, as you promised, a block away from your house, you glanced back over your shoulder at him and smiled.
“I insist.”
Stepping through the portal, the blast of cold air hit you fast as you wrapped your jacket tightly around yourself, unconsciously gluing yourself to Shang-Chi’s side for warmth. Rather than saying anything, he only smiled and tucked his hands into his pockets once more as the gateway to the karaoke room you had been in seconds before shut behind you.
The two of you walked in a surprisingly no-so-awkward silence along the sidewalk on the way back to your apartment and as you did a part of you had wished that you had made the portal farther way just so you could have more time with him. Not being able to help yourself, you glanced up at the man beside you admiring the way the streetlights highlighted his features and just when you swore you could get lost in him if he let you, the two of you stopped in front of your apartment building.
“This is me.” You said.
Climbing one step up the stairs, you leaned on the handrail, the two of you silently staring and nodding at each other for what felt like centuries, trying to find something to say until you both unknowingly cracked at the same time.
“When can I see you again-“
“Will I see you again-“
Both of you catching each other stumbling over the other’s words, you laughed.
“Okay, okay- you go first.”
Trying to find the courage in him to say it for the second time- knowing it was a long shot that an established Avenger and experienced Sorceress like you would ever give him the time of day- Shang-Chi cleared his throat, as he looked up at you.
“Can I… I don’t know… see you again?” He asked.
It taking everything within you to keep your cool, you smiled widely.
“Like a date?” You asked.
“I mean if you want it to be a date then yeah, but I can totally understand why you wouldn’t want-“
Before you could even let him finish, you slipped your own hands out of your pockets and grabbed onto either side of his unzipped bomber jacket, pulling him towards you. As your faces were inches apart you gazed up into his eyes looking for any sign from him to stop you, but when he only relaxed under your touch, you leaned in and pressed your lips against his.
You couldn’t remember the last time you had kissed someone, but as you felt his hands wrap around your back, pulling you towards him, you didn’t care to.
All that you ever needed was right there in front of you.
Slowly pulling away from him as another rush of cool air brushed up against the two of you, you stared up into his eyes and smiled.
“Same karaoke place at eight this Friday?”You my asked.
Although he had been trained to not have the breath knocked out of him by stronger men, your touch had left him speechless and all he could find it in himself to do was nod eagerly.
“Yeah,” He said breathlessly. “I‘ll be there.”
Finally finding the strength to pull yourself away from him, you stretched your arm out over his shoulder, opening a portal back outside the karaoke place the two of you had just spent the night at.
“I’ll see you then.”
Wrapping your jacket tighter against you once again, Shang-Chi pulled away, stepping back from you and towards the portal you formed behind him.
Just as he was about to step through, you called to him.
“And Shang-Chi?”
“Yeah?” He asked, glancing over his shoulder back at you.
Taking him in one last time for the next few days, you smiled.
“It was nice to meet you.”
Smiling right back at you, he nodded.
“It was nice to meet you too.”
And as he climbed back through the portal and onto the sidewalk in front of the karaoke bar, he slipped his hands into his pockets once more, smiling to himself as he walked home, thinking about his upcoming date that Friday with the only woman who could take his breath away.

Worth The Risk
Scenario Prompts: 'B asking A to attend a wedding with them, to get out of going with someone their parents tried to set them up with' + 'The pressure of someone's head leaning on your shoulder.' Requested By: Anonymous (I wrote it as gender neutral, as I usually do, instead of a fem!reader).
Plot: You manage to convince Shang-Chi to help you trick your parents into believing you're in a relationship, so they will stop trying to set you up with strangers. It seems simple at first, but as things begin to get a bit out of hand, and feelings change, you and Shang-Chi have to decide, is it worth the risk?
Pairing: Shang-Chi x GN!Reader
Warnings: None!
Word Count: 2.6k

Your chest tightened as you read over the message from your mother again. It was long, and full of various details, and random questions. But the part that stuck out the most was that one sentence in particular.
"I've got this great guy for you to meet! You can spend the wedding together, wont that be great?"
You sighed as you set your phone down as Shang-Chi sat across from you, setting your drink down.
"Uh-Oh. That was a big sigh, something happen?" He asked curiously, worry lining his voice.
You looked at him and shrugged your head. "My cousins wedding is in a few days, and apparently my mother has decided to set me up on date, during the wedding."
Shang-Chi cringed a bit. "Is it someone you know?"
"Doesn't sound like it." You said simply. "Ya' know, I haven't talked to them in ages, and then this is what she immediately throws at me? She didn't even ask if I was single, she just assumed."
"Correctly." He added on, but seeing your face light up with bemusement, he raised his hand defensively and let out a soft laugh. "Sorry, sorry!" When you smiled softly, he continued. "Why don't you tell them you are seeing someone, a little white lie to get out of being set up."
You groaned, "I've tried that in the past, but it didn't change anything. My mother wont believe me, or stop trying to set me up even if I say I am in a relationship. She probably wont until I physically have someone with me to prove I'm in a relationship." As you spoke, a suddenly idea clicked in your mind.
As you looked back up at Shang-Chi, he seemed to read your mind as he set down his drink and pointed at you. "No! No way!"
"Oh come on! It's one wedding pretending to be my boyfriend, and you'll be saving me from an awkward blind date. Please." You whined as you stretched your hand across the table.
Shang-Chi felt an unusual pang in his chest as you asked. His mind repeating 'my boyfriend' a few times before he pushed it away. He shook his head. "I've seen this movie."
"What, you mean every third rom-com that comes out?"
"Yes, exactly. And, it'll end one of three ways. One, one of us will end up falling in love with the other and it'll get painful. Two, you end up meeting the guy your mother tried to set you up with and you'll realize they are perfect for you. Or three, your parents find us out and it gets awkward, and painful."
As Shang-Chi spoke, you felt your chest clench painfully. 'One of us will end up falling in love with the other and it'll get painful.' You almost laughed. 'Too late.'
Pushing away your thoughts you smiled widely. "Or, number four, we successfully trick my parents, the wedding goes smoothly, we go on out merry way, and in a week or so I'll tell my parents that we broke up, but only if and when they ask."
Shang-Chi looked at you contemplatively, and you pouted at him. "Pleeeassee? You'll be doing me a huge favor, and I'll owe you."
Shang-Chi's shoulders slumped as he dropped his head in defeat. "Fine." He whined out. "But-" He began, as he pointed at you, "Just don't fall in love with me." He joked.
You forced an amused smile and an eye roll as you felt that now familiar painful ache in your chest. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. Would it be worth the risk of hurting yourself even more?
- - - - -
Shang-Chi looked at you from from the corner of his eye. Your leg was bouncing rapidly as your hands gripped your knees. He let out a soft laugh, and spoke with a reassuring tone. "Relax, it'll be fine."
You looked over at him, and you were sure your anxiety was clear on your face. "She's gonna see right through me."
"No, she wont." He began, "Half the time we are hanging out, random people think we are a couple, and we don't even purposefully act like one. I think with us actually pretending, we can pull it off easily."
You nodded your head, "Yeah, you're right."
Your thoughts were temporarily distracted as you remembered the various times people confused you as a couple. And every time, your face would heat up, and your chest would tighten, your mind would be filled with 'If only's' and 'I wish's'. While Shang-Chi would simply laugh it off as if it was a funny joke that would ever happen.
"We're here." The taxi driver said, breaking you from your thoughts.
Looking out of the window, you saw the entrance to the wedding venue. Small groups of people were heading inside, as the doorway was framed in white and pink flowers.
You let out a deep breath as you climbed out of the taxi. You ran your hands down your clothes, smoothing them out. Shang-Chi came to your side and smiled at you, another reassuring gesture. Holding out his elbow, you looped your arm through his as you both headed inside.
You didn't get far before you heard your name called out. Looking over, you spot your parents approaching, bright smiles on their faces. For a moment, the anxiety disappeared as you genuinely smiled at them, happy to see them in person after a long time apart.
After your greetings, you turned to Shang-Chi and began to introduce them. "Mom, dad, this is Shang-Chi."
Your parents took turns greeting him, before your mother laughed out. "I honestly wasn't sure if you were real, I thought Y/n might be playing a joke on us."
You and Shang-Chi both laughed awkwardly. "I assure you, I am very real. Well, I hope so at least."
Your mother giggled as your father began to lead to two of you into the next room. Your mother stepped beside you and whispered in your ear. "Cute. I like him."
You smiled at her, feeling relief wash over you. Now you just had to fool them for the next six hours or so.
When you had first messaged her back, informing her you were in a relationship, so no set-up date would be necessary, you were immediately bombarded with questions. Which you answered as vaguely as you could, though truth was sprinkled throughout.
How long have you known each other? A few years.
How long have you been dating? About two months.
Why didn't you tell me? I wanted to make sure it was serious first.
How did you meet? We met through a mutual friend.
You and Shang-Chi had gone through various scenarios. Ways to answer questions that might come up. You were able to form stories mostly from truth, with a few more relationship-oriented details thrown in.
As the wedding began, your mother was busy with your cousin, so you managed to avoid an interrogation. Up until the reception, when you spotted from across the room, Shang-Chi, alone, with both of your parents. You left your cousin and her new spouse and began walking towards your parents and Shang-Chi.
As you approached, you saw them laughing. Your anxiety dissipated a bit, figuring it must be going well. Shang-Chi, seeing you approach, quickly dismissed himself. You heard something about dancing as he slipped away.
Approaching you, he slid his hand into yours, causing your heart to skip a beat, and your face to heat up. You began to walk towards the dance floor slowly. "Trust me, you do not want to join in on that."
"Oh God, what were they asking?"
"About my family."
You winced and squeezed his hand a bit. "I'm sorry. What did you tell them?"
"Uh, that my parents are both dead, and my sister works at my dad's previous company."
"They didn't push any further did they?"
"They started too, but then I managed to changed the subject. Then you came over. So I told them I wanted to dance with you."
"You know I'm not a great dancer."
"I know, and neither am I, we can embarrass ourselves together." He smiled at you, and you laughed softly as you both fell into stance, just as a slow song began to play.
You glanced to the side, and saw your parents watching you. They were smiling, and you felt a mix of relief and guilt rocket through you.
"There's something else." He said after a moment.
You looked into his eyes with a raised brow. "What?"
"I may or may not have agreed to go on your triennial family vacation."
"Our what?" Suddenly, remembering that you and your family would all go on a vacation together every three years, and that the usual time was coming up, your eyes widened a bit. "Oh, right. Wait, you did?"
He nodded, squinting his eyes a bit as he let out a hiss. "Yeah, I kind of agreed before I actually thought about it. But to be honest, I have always wanted to go to Hawaii."
"Is that where we're going? They never tell me anything." You complained with and eye roll. Looking back at him, you sighed. "Are you sure you wanna do this again? It's possible they might find us out. Is it worth the risk?"
"It's alright." He quickly interrupted. "I think it's worth the risk. You never know. Things might change."
Shang-Chi was surprised by his intense desire to keep playing partners. He hadn't realized it until this moment, but he forgot, for a few moments here and there that it was a lie.
All those times when people thought you had been dating, the two of you would laugh it off. But there would always be a lingering feeling left behind. That maybe once day, it would be true.
When he joked with you not to fall in love with him, he felt his chest clench in a way that caught him off guard. As if he caught himself in the middle of a mistake he didn't realize he was making until it was too late.
During the wedding, when he saw your beaming smile as your cousin walked down the isle. He couldn't stop looking at you. He knew you were attractive, knew you were special. But in that moment, it was as if he was truly seeing you for the first time in a new way.
When your parents were talking about you, asking him questions, as if trying to catch him in a lie, he found it easy to tell the truth.
What attracted you to Y/n? I honestly couldn't narrow it down. It was everything. Like Y/n was a part of me I didn't know I was missing.
Do you see your relationship lasting? Of course. I can't imagine my life without Y/n right beside me.
And when they asked if he would go on the family vacation. He didn't hesitate, it didn't come out as a mistake. He honestly wanted to keep pretending to be with you. He enjoyed it. He wanted it to be real.
But none of this fully clicked in those moment. It wasn't until he was holding you close to him as you danced. Your eyes met his and it hit him all at once. The realization that he had always had these feeling, pushed down and away, ever since he first met you.
Maybe he hid these feelings to save himself from getting hurt. Maybe because he had never felt them like this. Maybe because he was afraid of hurting you.
"What things?" You asked with a look of curiosity.
He thought he saw a hint of expectation in your gaze, but you quickly hid it away, your face quickly becoming unreadable.
"Uh. Us...we could change." It was almost a question, as if he was afraid to scare you.
You stared at him, your heart hammering in your chest, your hand beginning to sweat. You were sure he could feel them in his own grip. Were you misreading what he was saying? Or did he mean what you hoped he did. What you wanted him to feel for so long.
The two of you were still dancing, but slower and more subdued that those around you.
You took a shaky breath before speaking. "What happened to 'just don't fall in love with me'?"
A soft smile played on his lips. "That was one sided." He argued.
"And a bit late."
Shang-Chi's face fell for a moment as your words hit him. "What?"
You shrugged your head a little bit. "By a few years actually."
You felt him hesitate in his steps as he halted for a moment. But as he remembered where you were, he continued in the dance, moving a bit more than he had before.
He let out a soft sigh. "I felt it too, but-"
"But what?"
"I don't know. I pushed it away, maybe because I was afraid."
"Of me?" You asked softly.
"No. Of me. Of, messing it up. I managed to push it away for a while, but...since we starting this fake relationship, I just...can't help but want it to be real."
"You do?" Your voice was bit higher now, as your heart was beating so rapidly in your chest you thought your whole body might be shaking.
He nodded his head lightly. "Yeah. I really do." You felt a smile spread across your face, that as soon as it was seen by Shang-Chi, his began to mirror yours. "This is one hell of a first date though."
"Yeah, it would make a great story."
Shang-Chi glanced over at your parents, and you followed his gaze. "But maybe not so soon right?"
You laughed a little. "Yeah, we might wanna hang on to it for a bit."
He looked back at you with a grin, and without helping, his eyes flicked to your lips. There were a few times in the past, where his eyes caught your lips. They lingered just long enough for him to wonder what it would be like to kiss you. But now, he did not push those thoughts away.
You saw the way his eyes hovered over your lips, and you felt your face heat up. His eyes met yours again as he pulled you closer to him. Your chests were touching, and your faces only an inch apart.
"Can I kiss you?" He asked, his voice a soft whisper.
Your nodded your head, so small a motion, it would have gone unnoticed by anyone watching you. But Shang-Chi saw it, and leaned closer. Letting his lips brush against yours momentarily, before pressing them together in a kiss.
Your movement stalled for a moment, your bodies still, as you kissed. The kiss lasted only a few second, but felt like an eternity of delight for the two of you.
When you pulled away, he pulled you flush against him as you began to dance again. You smiled brightly at one another, as your foreheads touched gently.
A moment passed as another song started, even slower than the last. You smiled a bit at him as you moved to set your head on his shoulder.
Shang-Chi smiled as you rested your head on his shoulder, the warmth of your presence making butterflies continuously rampage in his stomach. He set his own head softly against your own as the two of you continued to dance.
"I told you they weren't faking it." Your dad's voice said bluntly, as he and your mother watched the two of you from across the room.
Your mother let out a sigh, but smiled. "Good. I'm glad. They're perfect for each other."

we don’t have to pretend
Pairing: Shang-Chi x fem!reader
Summary: Being best friends since high school, the reunion prom finally serves as an excuse to confess your long lasting feelings for each other.
Word Count: 2.2K
Warnings: Fluff, it was supposed to be angsty but has nothing angsty about it. Cheesy promposal and cheesy song choice.
Author’s note: It took me some time but my first Shang-Chi one-shot is finally here! I took some inspiration from the beautiful @wint3r-h3art 's song recommendation, Around by NIKI, but also had a little of everything, from Deadpool references to inspo by the video clip of In the Dark by Swae Lee ft. Jhené Aiko. At this point I'm mastering self indulgent fics, I just can't help it. <3
Comments, Reblogs and Likes are really appreciated! <3 As always, thank you so much for reading!
Tumblr media
Shang-Chi was lying down on his bed with his back stretched out and feet still touching the ground. His eyes were looking for answers on the plain white ceiling where he knew he wouldn’t find. The whole incident with the Ten Rings, his dad’s death, and family history were way too much, still. After meeting with Dr. Banner and Captain Danvers, his life had been much more crowded and rushed, always counting on Wong to transport him back and forth to New York.
His heart almost gave out when he heard the bell ringing — he wasn’t expecting anyone. It was a Saturday, the only day he reserved for himself, or to be available in case you were too. He still hadn’t time to tell you about his double life, and he certainly didn’t want to drag you into this mess. He did feel guilty, though, with sneaking around and pretending he wasn’t there when you called him.
Especially since he was in love with you. How could he expect to have you around when he couldn’t even bring himself to tell you who he was?
He heard your voice outside by the door and his reaction was immediate. He left the bed with a jump, quickly pacing to open it for you. He fidgeted on his hair for a bit before letting the sunlight enter the apartment. He was as happy as a puppy on his first time walking out of the house.
“When I said you could always come by, I didn’t mean that you could simply show up like this.” He said playfully, leaning into the crack of the door.
“Oh, I’m sorry, do you have company?” Your sarcastic tone made him chuckle, he loved how you would always find a way to tease him, ever since you were teenagers.
“I mean, I could have. I’m very important and busy.” He gestured that you were welcome to come inside, but almost regretting it a second later. “Sorry for the mess, didn’t have time to tidy up.”
“Yeah, dude. You haven’t run errands with me for four weeks or so.” You took off your shoes to place them by the entrance. “I miss my laundry buddy.”
“I miss you too.” He said, gazing past you. If only you knew just how much he did miss you, not only to run errands but to everything. He missed talking to you, being around you. But he promised himself he wouldn’t let you enter into the danger he was already putting Katy into. Not until he was ready to.
“So, are you coming tonight?” You said as you sat down on his undone bed, running your fingers through the creased sheet. “To prom?”
He looked at you, forehead crinkling up in doubt. “What -, are we back in high school?” He closed the door behind him, still not losing sight of you.
“You didn’t get the invite? We have that reunion prom, remember?” Your cellphone was already in hand and you scrolled through your cleaned-up, perfectly organized email inbox. “See? Tonight at seven p.m.” You showed him the screen as he moved to your side, sitting down on the bed.
As he did, the mattress weight made you jump. Did Shaun get stronger? Better yet, did your best friend ditch you those past weeks to work out? To be honest, it could be. It was the closest you had been to him since he disappeared for god knows how long. You even had your doubts whether you were his best friend anymore.
Not meaning to stare, you drifted your gaze away as he scanned through the email.
“I didn’t receive it… let me search.” He picked up his phone and scrolled around the hundreds and thousands of emails he must not have been checking. Right down the bottom of the inbox, he saw it. “Shit, I must have ignored it.”
He looked straight at you with apologetic eyes. But, you weren’t looking at him.
“What is that?” The perfectly preserved box in which his dad stored the Ten Rings was wide open by his nightstand.
Well, that was promising.
“Erm.. my workout gear?” He said with the most unconvinced voice you had ever heard. Shaun quickly left your side and closed the box, putting it away in his messy closet and closing the door.
“Why do you need ten of whatever that was to your training?” You pointed your fingers at it, even if you couldn't see it anymore.
“You count so fast, huh? And why are you playing detective on me?” He forced a laugh, which was embarrassing. How would he get out of that one?
But you were smarter than that. Whatever he would try to do to stall you, you would read past it.
You sighed. “Shaun, what is going on?” Standing your ground, you patted the bed as you would always do when you needed a moment to talk to him. “Can we talk? Like we used to.”
He knew he was in trouble. He had never been able to keep things away from you when you would talk like that, face to face. Admitting defeat, he sat beside you, his legs crossing over one another.
Shaun, or, Shang-Chi, as you learned now, couldn't seem to stop talking. It was weeks worth of happenings, after all. It did take him a moment to choose the right way to begin, but once he did, it was an open gate.
The words kept falling out of his mouth, and soon enough, everything was on the table. He told you about his sister, his parents, Ta-Lo, and the Great Protector — all of it. Including his new occupation as a side hero and protector of the earth. When he finished, you seemed astonished. You were confused, maybe? A mixture of anguish and uncertainty.
Your silence was keeping him on edge. What if you didn't believe in him? What if, in your head, you had already decided that it was too much for you to handle? You knew him forever. Would this be the end of the line?
All he could do was hope for the best.
After a while, with your head downwards, facing the loneliness of the white sheets beneath you, you finally looked up to him. "I'm so sorry, Shang-Chi." You reached him for a hug, which he embraced with the biggest relief on his chest. "I'm sorry I wasn't there for you."
"What? No, it wasn't your fault." He said with a stuffy voice, his mouth slightly covered by your hair. "You couldn't have known."
You stayed like this for a couple of minutes. Entangled in each other's arms, his sorrow being cured by the sheer presence of your touch. Your longing desire to be near him, gently healing all opened wounds he had in his heart.
It seemed like you cared more for him than this whole mess surrounding his past. He didn't know whether you did not realize the dangers that would come with it, but he chose to believe that you did and were only trying to make things lighter on his shoulders. That is the type of person you have always been.
"I wish I had told you sooner, but I was afraid you would drift away. I don't want you to get hurt." He slowly distanced himself from the hug, still holding on to your arms. "You are my best friend, and my only wish is that you stick around with me."
A shy chuckle escaped your mouth. "You wanted to keep me around by lying to me?" Your hands were just like his, grasping onto his arms.
"I never said it was the smartest idea." He said, playfully. "You are the brains, I'm the idiot that follows you. And Katy is the goofball.”
"You're not an idiot. Well, maybe sometimes, but still." You softly placed your hand on his cheek, stroking lightly. "You're my idiot."
Shang-Chi tilted his head, a smile creeping upon his face. He squinted his eyes, teasing you. "Wow, what was that? Did you just confess you love me?"
You threw your hands up as if quitting his little game, laughing. "I'm leaving! Not going into this again."
"Slow down, pretty girl." He imitated you, a chuckle almost keeping him from talking. "Now that everything has been said and done, can I take you to prom?"
"Oh, now you wanna take me to prom? You wouldn't even know about it if it wasn't for me, and I would go by myself, like last time." You pretended to be mad, pouting and crossing your arms over your chest.
"In my defense, I was going to ask you back then, but you wanted to go with that Nick boy." He rolled his eyes, exaggerating his voice. "Pretty-boy-can-do-everything-Nick."
"That's on you if you think he was perfect. But I wanted to go with you, loser." You hugged a pillow nearby, knowing damn well that you had just slipped the biggest secret you've kept from him. "I just pretended to not want to."
It was like adding two plus two. Simple and easy, yet, how could he have missed it? He was always jealous of the boys around you and it took him some time to realize why, but it never occurred to him that the same was happening to you. You've known each other for half of your life now. All the teasing and nagging, you both cared so much and did so little to show it.
"I guess we should stop pretending." He seemed so serious out of a sudden. Your eyes were locked into him, and you threatened to open your mouth, but he was faster. “I know you know what I mean.”
There was no time for laughing and joking around anymore, or so it seemed. Shang-Chi’s gaze lingered on your face as you assimilated what he had said.
“I don’t, I -” You started mumbling, but before you could continue, he took your hand into his. His eyes spoke more than you could ever say in words, and you just stared back at him. “I agree.”
He sighed as relief washed over his body. He felt as if for the first time, he was seeing you as you are, and you seeing him as he was. Just honest and heartfelt tenderness.
“Now that you admitted you love me, let me do this right.” He stood up from the bed, only your joyful laughter filling the air.
He took a piece of paper and pen lying on his nightstand and wrote something, his back was concealing it from you. He reached for his phone in his pocket, his fast fingers scrolling with only one hand.
The familiar saxophone intro started playing on the lowest volume, the clicking noises of the buttons making it sound louder and clearer as he turned around to face you.
“WHAM!” Shang-Chi whispered, nodding his head in rhythm with the song. As he did it, the paper with a poorly written P-R-O-M? made you burst out laughing.
“Seriously? Careless Whisper for a Promposal?” You stood up as well, your feet curdling up to reach him, your face inches close. “How cheesy.”
“What did Deadpool say? You don’t have to be the hero to get the girl, the right girl will bring the hero out of you?” He smiled, tossing the paper and the phone on the bed, placing arms around your waist, hands closing together to keep you inside his embrace. “You will please, go to prom with me?”
“When you’ve put it so nicely, yes, of course, I’ll to go prom with you.”
Your lips finally touched for the first time. The desire and eagerness from both of you were so intense, it was a little sloppy, but you didn’t mind it at all. You were kissing him, the love of your life. Small pecks here and there, his hands gently made their way through your back until resting on your neck, keeping your face in place.
As you both stood there, bodies refusing to stop the embrace, the song kept playing in the background. It was almost like you were dancing to your private prom, every single thing was perfect because you were together.
His forehead touching yours, your feet in perfect synchrony, swaying away to the romantic ballad, he said: “Is it a bad moment to say that I don’t own a tux?”
You laughed with your eyes shut, picturing him in pajamas right below the sparkling globe in the middle of the dancefloor. “You know what, you could be with the dirtiest shirt you own, it wouldn’t matter to me.”
“God, I love you.”
He meant it. You could see it in his eyes.
As you danced around his messy apartment, the sweetest smile on your face, he could only recall loving you this much from the day he met you.
Shang-Chi would be lying if he said that he didn’t fear for you, your safety, your protection. But at that moment, he had nothing else to lose, you loved him and he loved you.
And that was enough.

You could always tell when he had returned home. It wasn’t the gracing of his presence or the familiar buzz of a helicopter in the distant winds. The shift of the soldiers left behind, matched with the housekeepers’ shift in attitude when his intimidating shadow seemed to silently loom over the property; he who held rule over them had made his return.
And when he steps into his room, your back to him as you finish the nights work, the click of his dress shoes against the floor reigning loudly in your ears as you anticipate him. The anticipation of his nearness to you setting you on edge, your mind impulsively counting his steps. As you try to breathe. Try to keep some composure of yourself, not let it show across your face, and flush of your skin, that you’ve been waiting for him.
The small jump you give when you feel his hand press at the top of your back makes your heart rate pick up. The pressure of his hand light, making your body seize and croon into the simple touch. Your body always seemingly ready for him. Anticipating the next touch, graze, look. Him having to do little to light a fire in you. A simple look in your direction making heat burn through you like a gas fire, your insides aching for whatever came next; to please him.
When you turn, his palm stays positioned on your back, the corner of his mouth is turned up in the slightest indication of a smile. You don’t ask him how it went, wherever he traveled off to. It wasn’t your business to know such details of him and his army. It went without saying that you already knew how it went. There didn’t need to be traces of blood or malice plaguing his outer body to know that whatever had happened he had won and would always win. Battle or words used as weapons; he always had the upper hand in it all.
Wenwu had more blood on his hands than any other man you knew. And yet when he put those same death bringing hands on your body, as if the sin of every victim fallen by his grace, making the darkest thoughts of being ravaged, submitting to his will, plague every crevice of your mind until your legs crossed in a silent need for release.
The two of you had spent many nights like this. Him always coming to find you late at night, sometimes even asking for you. And so when his palm skates across your back, over your shoulder, down your collar bone, and to your neck. His eyes never leaving yours, the heavy rise and fall of your chest, your breaths coming out in heavy puffs from your open lips the only sound in the room. There’s no need for him to ask you for a what he wants. What the both of you want. What you always give him, and will always give him.
It’s a silent pillage set in stone. Something that the less it’s spoken of the more you want it. The more your knees go weak from how much it pleases him to know that your open mouth will always be ready to take him without mention. As if the power of his being alone hadn’t brought you to this submission, his desire for your submission. Like it would many others. But instead the sheer weight of his cock and blessing of his cum on your tongue being the temperament to always keen and submit you to his will.
Your breath catches when you feel his hand travel up the cool column of your neck, his thumb resting on your chin to put pressure on the bone there, to tell you to open your mouth wider in an unspoken command. His thumb slipping inside when you’ve listened, the warm of your tongue meeting the salty pad of his finger coating it in your salivation.
Your mind helplessly wandering to thoughts of death. Did the pad of his finger touch the lifeless body of someone else tonight? Did it slip in blood and he wipe it off with a smile? A grimace? A sickly thought of putting the same finger in your mouth later in the night so you could taste his victory. Let you inside a part of his gruesome world. The only kind of world a man like him survives this long by doing said horrible things.
The thought makes you moan softly around his finger as your lips are wrapped around it. Wenwu’s gaze shifting from your mouth, as you suck and lick, to your eyes as they look up at him heavy with lust.
You can see the same look being returned to you within his. He’s never spoke it out loud, just how much he loves this. Loves that out there his men praise and worship him for the warrior he is. But in here you worship his cock for the man he is. It’s not something you both know he needs to admit, to say out loud. His actions speaking louder than any declaration he could ever sum up.
Just like he doesn’t need to tell you to go to your knees. You’re already doing that the minute his thumb leaves your mouth. The cold of the wooden floor on your knees shooting a familiar thrill of adrenaline through you. Your eyes straining a little as you look up at him, watch him unzip his black pants, pulling out his thickened cock, his fingers moving against the sensitive skin before your mouth replaces them.
The deep sighs that Wenwu let’s vibrate against his chest, the way he lets his eyes fall shut every now and then, his head tipped at an angle, his fingers lacing between locks of your hair—never moving you, always letting you be in control. It all rung hot all over your body. The continuous flames burning deep to your soul to the point where there was only this. Him. Your ruler. Your warrior. And the sweet taste of his cock on your tongue and the proud enjoyment from the looks of pleasure he gave each time he looked down at you to watch you work him into your mouth; drool running down your chin as you take him deeper. Spit at the corners of your mouth.
“I have owned many treasures,” His words are said on the endings of a deep groan. “But you, my sweet girl, are my favorite.”
The praise makes your thighs press harder together, the pressure on your throbbing cunt giving you fervor. A moan vibrating from your throat and onto his leaking cock. His words lying deep within you in a spot that you will remember long after tonight. Long after the next time you’re on your knees for him. The sadistic satisfaction from hearing him claim you as a treasure bringing a lust fueled joy to your marrow.
Wenwu’s fingers tighten in your hair, his hand now gripping the back of your skull, as words continue to fall from his lips.
The detail of the events that played out in his absence here. The bodies he left slain and laid out covered in burns and blood. A reminder to those stupid enough to knock on the door of the man who holds more power than they could ever wield. A warning to all spelt out in blood and ash.
“They go to their knees to save their own lives. To them I am just a bad man with power.” You look up through your watery lashes, his deep stare, his brows pushed together in a scowl that you’ve seen plenty of times—with and without his cock in your mouth. “They look at me like this, and you look at me like the god you’d do anything to have love you. Fuck you. Conqueror you until all you can taste is my cum.” His voice is deep and raw. “Hmm?”
You know he’s not looking for you to speak, he doesn’t need you to agree. You don’t need yourself to agree. To reassure him that it’s all true. Most look to him as the monster with fire around his wrists, who wields fearsome power with the flick of his hands. And you knew he wasn’t a good man. The thought of him being one had never ambushed your mind with reason or rhyme. Neither had him being a bad one.
Wenwu was many things to you. A fire deep between your legs and a drug resting on your tongue, the antidote burning down your throat; was the only thing that mattered though.
You were his favorite treasure, conquest. And he, your favorite warrior.
And when he comes, it’s not your name that falls from tight lips, his eyes dark and weighed down by dark pleasure. The corner of his mouth twitching as he watches his cock slip from your mouth. The fingers in your hair running along your scalp, to your cheek. The digits warm against your scalding skin. His pointer coming to the bottom of your chin to lift your head more, you instinctively open your mouth as you swallow his cum; the sweet reminder that you were his. And you loved it.
“My treasure.” He smiles, rights himself, and leaves the room without another word.
