Happy Halloween!! ^w^

Bug Fables.

It's my current favorite video game, and actually, you can thank it for Linden Roots existing~

I'll explain, but in order to do so I have to dive into spoilers for one of my absolute favorite plots for one of my absolute favorite characters, so I need to slap on a;

MASSIVE SPOILER WARNING!

In my opinion, this game is best experienced SPOILER FREE, so if you haven't played it and want to some day, I recommend skipping my info dump below. (This info can be acquired before beating the main game though. :>)

You're okay with spoilers? Yes? Okay, carry on.

So.

Those who are familiar with Leif's story will probably see how Bug Fables influenced the creation of Linden Roots.

A long while ago, I mentioned Randy being inspired by my favorite fictional character.

That's Leif.

Leif is a moth who is ancient.

And dead.

Loooooong before the game takes place (I can't find an exact timeframe; it's like a generation or two), Leif went with a team of bugs to explore a cave, but ended up dying in there. In that same cave, a group of scientists later experimented on cordyceps. Now, as soon as they became relevant to the story I was HOOKED.

I learned about cordyceps as a kid, and they scared the crap out of me. But it also was one of those morbidly fascinating things I'd look into once in a while. (Before anyone tells me, yes, I know that's what's in The Last of Us.)

If you don't know, IRL cordyceps basically turn bugs into zombies.

Anyway, the scientists were trying to find a way to create eternal life (what else is new lol), and did this through cordyceps. Which, as one could guess when dealing with zombie fungus, ended up going badly for the scientists.

One of the "failed" experimental fungi was thrown out, and found its way to the deceased Leif, and brought him back to life. It took on his memories, and Leif woke up without knowing what happened, until you dig into his story during the game. So the "Leif" we know in the game isn't truly Leif, but is the fungus living as him.

Now... I'm sure that sounds a bit familiar...

This idea of a character being dead-but-not struck a chord with me. It fascinated me to no end.

But there's more to it.

As one might expect, Leif has some tragedy surrounding him.

While playing the game, you can stumble upon his decedents.

This here is Muze. With a 'z'

This is Leif's great great however-many-greats grand-daughter, who you meet in the game's present day.

When he was alive, he had a wife.

His wife was Muse. With an 's'.

We never get to see what Muse looked like, but he says in-game that Muze is a spitting image of her. Hence why Akoya is dressed as she is in my pic. She's dressed as Muse.

Now, according to the developers, Muse was pregnant when Leif went into the cave where he died.

And he didn't know.

There are several moments in the game that show Leif's potential as a father, but one in particular stood out to me.

(Note for the images; Leif refers to himself as "We/Us".)

Oops, I forgot one. Vi finishes by shouting "I said it's not happening!"

The text in the last shot bounces/wiggles in-game, indicating playfulness or joking.

If you're familiar with Goombario and Goombella in the Paper Mario games, this dialogue is this game's version of that. You can have the main characters give flavor text on any area and most characters in the game. (And I recommend doing it often, as it adds SOOO much to the game! ^v^)

This bit takes place in the first room after Kabbu and Vi meet Leif. And at the end of the room, an event happens to change what's said for the rest of the game. Meaning, the only time you see it is RIGHT after they meet; He was getting playful with these two bugs he'd met only moments ago.

I'm sure it can just be seen as sarcasm, but having found this dialogue after learning about Leif missing out on raising a child, I saw it as a clue that he would've been a great dad. And it shattered me. ;w;

Randy and Akoya are wish-fulfillment. They're my version of Leif and Muse. They're my way of giving Leif and Muse what I'm sad they missed out on, while also keeping some of the angst, lol. Thankfully, they've evolved into their own separate characters that I feel I can be proud of, but Leif's story and tragedy still has a deep, well-protected place in my heart.

Hi there. I enjoyed your post about Sam’s brand and it got me thinking. I feel like he’s stuck between trying to do what other people tell him he should to “make it” and trying to do it himself. Other people: you’re hot, show it off, do action movies, date blonde floozies. Himself: I want to be a good person and a decent actor, but what if I’m not? Guess I should work a lot, build a non-acting brand just in case I get fired, but try not to pay too many people to market it, I can do that myself; the liquor has the added benefit of getting his name out there and hopefully giving him another income stream if acting goes to shit. Where this all becomes problematic is that he’s not the person others tell him to be, so he comes off as fake, inconsistent, disingenuous, contradictory. I worry though that he can’t break away from these “advisors” because of whatever hole he and caitriona have themselves in with Starz and their bosses. We may not all agree on what happened in 2016 or why, but it’s obvious something did. The difference between them both since then is stark. The light has dimmed. They’ve aged exponentially. They’re guarded. They’re not the effervescent dynamos they started out as. She looks pissed all the time, like she’ll trot Tony out if necessary, but she won’t look like she enjoys it. She’ll go to awards ceremonies, but she won’t look as gorgeous as she easily could. She won’t be their ingenue. I don’t know, I think they’re stuck and are limited in what they can actually do for themselves, as much as they might like to. I can only hope there is an end in sight for them and they can persevere until then!

PS, I watched She Said last night. Highly recommend for anyone who doesn’t think a network executive could or would force their tent pole stars to deny a relationship.

I liked your submission so much, I have read it three times in a row (and damn the late hour!). I have very few things to add to your excellent assessment of what I think is a very complicated situation. The proverbial Scottish parsimony could explain the choice of a minimally budgeted, all hands on deck sales and advertising approach. But we are quickly passing this stage and he should seriously think of hiring true professionals, if he really wants to make a financial lifebelt out of SS.

Yes. There's a price to be paid for all the games they are being served to play (and yes, something terrible happened in January 2016, of which we will probably never have the full details). Both of them are now striving to show us they can (scantily, painfully) exist without the magical Other. She, with that colorless, wrist-grabbing, fist-clenching literally dumb person (strictly meaning that we never hear him). He, with that (forgive me, Father, for I am about to sin) questionable, loud and tacky Oriental consigliere (it is high time I should write that paper on the Persia I know and love, lest you or other Anon think I am racist, or something). You can't figure out more opposite add-ons to Those Two, both serving, I believe, the same purpose: to deflect, at all costs, any attention given to the real state of play.

I haven't watched She Said yet and I welcome and thank you for the suggestion. On a lighter note, I trade for it Call My Agent (I have already mentioned this very, very witty French series, dealing with the life in a Parisian talent agency) - it shouldn't be a problem to find it on Netflix.

Why Dionysus was actually clever but got botched.

Okay,this is my first big LO essay so please don’t mind a bit of awkwardness.

The thing with Dionysus is that on paper it’s actually really smart.

Let me explain-

To understand why Dionysus in particular was chosen we need to understand the original myth of his birth,or welll,the original myths.there’s technically two of them but I’ll explain it later-

Let’s start off with the simpler one,aka:

Semele is the mother.

The myth goes like this:

Zeus falls in love with a mortal named semele,and tells her he’s Zeus.

Semele gets pregnant and Hera gets jealous.

Hera turns into an old lady and implants the idea that Zeus might be lying to her about being Zeus,so she must ask him to show her his divine form.

Semele does this and is-unsurprisingly- burnt to ashes,but Zeus saves baby dio and puts him in his thigh until he’s born,by then being upgraded from demigod to straight up god.

Who raises him afterwards depends on the story,sometimes it’s Hermes,sometimes it’s nymphs,and sometimes it’s-you guessed it-Persephone.

So you already have some inkling on why Persephone is raising dio,but oh wait there’s more.

So let’s gets into another version:

Persephone is the mother(?)

Okay,so have any of you played hades?go play it.

But,there’s a character that has an story tied to Dionysus,and people who’ve done a certain side quest might already have an inkling:

Zagreus,the prince of the underworld.

Now,you may be wondering wtf zag has to do with this but I can explain.

Basically here’s the ancient Orphic version of the myth:

Persephone and Zeus have a son named Zagreus.(it’s important to note that hades didn’t really exist at this point or at least he was merged with Zeus,hence why it’s Zeus and Persephone and not hades and Persephone,since yes Persephone actually predates hades)

Zagreus is the golden boy of Olympus and Hera gets jealous.

Hera RELEASES TITANS FROM TARTARUS and they tear Zagreus apart,the part remaining being his heart.

And dio is made with that.

There’s more to the general ancient Orphic origins of Dionysus but that’s just the basics.

I highly recommend overly sarcastic productions video of Dionysus if you want an in depth look at this explaining his origins to his cult.so yeah.check it out.

Why it fails within LO.

I admit,dio is a good reference.

He’s a good nod and a fun idea,it’s just the execution that leads it to having as many positives as a house fire.

First of all,it definitely wasn’t planned from the start.

Other have talked about this but RS has a habit of bullshitting things into the story to reference a real world date.

In this case,dio was supposed to be a Mother’s Day thing,but when matched up to the timeline?well…I don’t know why it’s such a bad decision on Persephone’s part…may be it’s because HER AND HADES HAVE BEEN MARRIED FOR LESS THAN A DAY.

Also the whole thing comes out of nowhere.

Zeus just bust into persie’s house,says he’s giving birth and instead of going to a doctor(Asclepius isn’t the only one,zeus)

Then,Persephone straight up refuses to give him to Zeus AFTER HE GAVE BIRTH and takes the baby for herself because “he looks like hades”.

Never mind the fact he’s literally purple-

After that Persephone realised she’s fucked up and ignores hades,but he bursts in and she explain how she basically kidnapped a child.

And it’s supposed to be romantic.

Anyways,I’m probably gonna make another of these rants soon,just with Apollo,but this is why the dio plot point…frustrates me.

On paper it’s an interesting reference but in the end it just ends up being stupid.

Introduction Post

Hey!! Just another anon lurker who decided to finally step out of the shadows. Probably a bit too awkward but that's a work under progress.

Here's some stuff I like (more vibes than anything here ig):

Ok so I COmPLETELY forgot EVERYTHING about enstars and its characters ok (like seriously the only thing I remember is having a crush on a redhead mf that was from the crazy b(itches) group) so I will assume stuff based on my experience (spoiler alert:I will go a lil overboard)

So along with the other mv I watched I noticed that this dude and the ginger guy have a somewhat connection,, with their side glances in this pic and the obvious worrying of grey man in the first one

So I will assume that they are besties and that ginger either overworks himself too hard and the grey dude is like "bro wtf stop" OR he has some kind of generic anime deathly disease or smth like that and the grey dude is like the only one that knows because HES AN IDOL AND HE CANT TELL IT TO HIS FANS LIKE or else they'll rage!! Or something

THEY ARE DEFO CHILDHOOD FRIENDS.

There is an obvious meaning with the swords too maybe it represents their will/motivation to become idols idk...

And the only thing I have left to say is that he looks uh

okay first of all. you should read checkmate. for me

and okay, before i correct you and Probably word vomit on you i need to make one thing clear: izumi (gray haired guy) and leo (ginger dude) are gay and i am very (not) normal about them so hum. enjoy the essay

. okay in the end it ended up so long i needed to put everything under a cut. and its not even everything, which is why i heavily suggest you to read checkmate to like, Get It...so warning that my word vomit spoils that story pretty heavily, since i also show some extracts of it

so yes, izumi and leo were friends in yumenosaki (the idol school) since their first year. they also were pretty much each other's first real friends. so they aren't childhood friends, but definitely very close. they were also in the same unit, who had a lot of names but the most common one being chess, and it was a VERY big unit with Lots of members

you also need to know leo is a talented composing genius, who can easily write amazing songs with ease, which of course is a great feat to have in an idol school

a quick side note that at the time yumenosaki Sucked Ass and that most of the students were just a lazy bunch who barely did anything and just basked in the school's popularity. izumi and leo were one of the rare ones who actually took their idol work seriously, especially izumi

so of course the other chess members would use leo's talent to get it easy, yeah? the thing is leo himself didn't realize. he considered them all as friends, and thought they felt the same, and would give away and make songs for the others with no worries. izumi noticed leo being used and tried to warn him about it, but leo wouldn't take it because he believed in the others too much

anyways, at one point, due to circumstances (that i will not explain because its not very related and just Too Much), units with more than 5 members were not allowed anymore, and thus chess broke into multiple, smaller units. and that was how knights was born, having only leo and izumi as members at first, though with the hardworking izumi and the talented leo, they were very good despite just being two, and won dreamfes (who are basically battle performances between two units) easily

at another point arashi (that izumi knew since childhood) and ritsu (another yumenosaki student that arashi and izumi met) join knights i guess...? though they arent very serious about it yet, the pillar members still being izumi and leo then. im starting to forget but i think these two even joined at first because knights needed more people for the we'll be knights performance?? whatever

and so, i will need you to know that before the we'll be knights performance, leo went to the other former chess members, and basically gave them a choice: leo, or his songs? they all answered his songs

thats when leo finally realized he was being used all along. and of course, that broke him greatly

and so leo decided that he would devote his all to izumi, the only one who truly was his friend. if izumi had a dream, leo would do his everything to help him achieve it. and at the time izumi's dream was to become the best at yumenosaki, and crush everyone else. and like you Really need to read the full dialogue too— (what i show isn't even all of it)

except that leo, was Not made for fighting and hurting others like that. but he still did, for izumi

which is...why he looks so hurt in the we'll be knights mv. because he also decided to take on the responsibility of king, of leader of knights, which once again, was not a role made for him!

anyways, to come back to your words; no, leo doesn't have a disease (eichi is the one with one). as for the swords, its an interesting meaning you're bringing here! :0 personally i think since they're knights, well they gotta have swords right? especially since there they've decided to slay any obstacles who dares obstruct their path. plus they have swords in the original cards too so!

as for the other mv, luminous crown, it happens two years after checkmate and we'll be knights, so of course a lot of things changed by then lol! mainly tsukasa joining knights, and all of them being able to heal, which is why the contrast between we'll be knights and luminous crown is So beautiful and always make me emotional because its shows their evolution so well...they may have suffered a lot, but after a long and difficult path of healing, they're all so much happier now!!! and of course there's still so much more ahead for them

aaand i think i'll end my word vomit here because it's getting TOO LONG!!! HELP!!! AND I INSIST WHEN I SAY THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT EVERYTHING!!! so yes please read checkmate for me.please. it will make you understand everything way more, and better than my explanation ever could

First and foremost, YOU ARE AMAZING AT EXPRESSING YOUR THOUGHTS AND YOUR ESSAYS ARE ALWAYS SO NUANCED?? SO YOU SAYING THAT WAS A HUGE COMPLIMENT OMG- I love reading your bsd essays so much and it's just now that I realised that they're all your essays abaammw some of the best in the fandom really. I'm always baffled when in the middle of an essay you go "I may not be articulating my thoughts right" or "this is kind of just put together" because girl you're amazing! Never stop writing these please ajajahsbw ALSO! Hearing your little thoughts and feelings pop up in the middle of an essay makes it so endearing to me. Like, that's a whole ass person writing these many words just to express how much they like this show and they're so adorable! (So sorry if that's offensive idk if calling someone adorable is)

Also, completely unrelated lol but this is exactly why I prefer to ask people questions instead of googling! Knowing that the person explaining is a human has their own opinions and hearing their feelings and experiences is so much more better and relatable than reading stuff off a Google website. Also your pfp is the cutest everyone has cute pfps nowadays 😭 anyways yes cute pfp :D

Actually getting to the point now:

1) yes yes Oda and Dazai's relationship is so dear to me I love them sm and I adore seeing Atsushi all caring for his mentor 😭 he's basically Dazai's emotional support cat!! Dazai let the boy in please I'm begging you he can purr probably and it would melt away your stress pls pls (Maybe everyone in the ADA sees Atsushi as their emotional support cat...)

2) Mori is a piece a shit, and you should be allowed to say it. I'm never biased in my writing but I loathe that guy with my very being and the whole people who like Mori thing really got me reconsidering...was *I* the bad guy for not liking a character when I actively liked a character very similar to him? Then I realised, I completely respect and treat equally all the people who don't like/hate Dazai. I don't treat them any different just because they don't like a character. And that's what I should expect too!

There's no post defending Dazai, and yet I still like him because I accept his wrongdoings and want him to keep getting better, like Oda told him to. Yknow, the argument would be MUCH different if Dazai was a woman and not a man, imagine bashing someone for liking a teen girl and not liking the guy who groomed her to be his heir. Yeah, really puts things into perspective. I'm not sexist, I treat (respectful) men and women equally, but Mori is just. No.

3) I haven't see it before in any canon source material but I feel like it's definitely true. It's clear that Dazai WANTS to want to keep living, but he can't bring himself to want it because of all the pain he's endured. He literally said in dark era that the reason he joined the mafia was to try and seek meaning in life by being close to death and violence. It's ironic, Dazai feels the most alive when he's about to LOSE that privilege. It could also mean that Dazai only realises the "value" in living when he's about to lose it. Perhaps he thinks of things he could've done, things he'll regret, and that helps him to stop before he actually does it. But in my opinion? I don't think he finds anything of worth in that time. He just convinces himself that he does. This is a personal hc but it's probably likely to be the case.

If you've listened to the song My R, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.(totally recommend btw!).The girl in the song speaks to herself about her woes and the 'other' version of her comforts her telling her about all the things that she DOES have, but by the end of the song, she has lost everything of meaning and she can't comfort the "girl". It is only revealed that the girls she comforted are different versions of HERSELF that she stopped from jumping.

Anyways, in conclusion, SOMEBODY PLEASE GIVE THIS BOY A HUG HE DESERVES IT

i like to add personal experiences and thoughts into it, just to get my point across, put it into an irl perspective and let people also relate and see what im getting at. (unfortunately) i have the same experiences as most of these characters, and so that is why they're so dear to me and why i get very defensive and passionate writing about them!

and yes! getting your answers and stuff from irl people instead of strange irrelevant responses is much more preferred lol. it's more raw and in depth and definitely a lot more personal! and thank you so much!!! it's genuinely one of my favourite dazai panels istg hes such a pretty mf

1.) i love love LOVE their dynamic, i think it's one of my favourites in the show along with skk and ranpo and yosano. it really fucking hits hard, as all family dynamics do with me fr, idk what it is about them, they just get me. and yes!!! i love when atsushi shows that he cares for dazai it MAKES ME FEEL NICE <3 and that's so real oh my god hes a tiger please PLEASE he can fucking PURR (there was a tumblr post i saw, i can try and find it but it made me actually cry laughing)

THIS ONE i was fucking howling but yes! their relationship is also one that really really gets to me! and yes, he is just the ada's support cat, it's canon, i'm ranpo's sweets

2.) thank you thank you THANK YOU mori is an actual degenerate human being. he's not made to be liked or appreciated or revered, it's just fucking AEUGH. i'm not going to demonise the people who enjoy him as a character, but seriously, it's a big red flag to overlook the canon pedophilia. i saw someone make a defense against him saying "yes, but he's never actually touched kids, so that doesn't mean anything" SORRY? they also went on to say that he "restrains himself" from having pedophilic thoughts with elise, and basically praised him for that. needless to say, it got me feeling fucking icky. and yes! i feel exactly the same. i always think that "oh, maybe i'm the awful one for not liking him? am i bad?" even though, no, i'm perfectly fine thinking that way and i am allowed to think that way. and exactly again! dazai is my favourite character, but i recognise his flaws and his mistakes and don't forgive them. but he's actively trying to "be a better person" (i say this in quotation marks because dazai sees everything he does as inevitably pointless, but still wishes to uphold oda's dying words. i am definitely going to make a post about this in the near future lol) and i dont make my analyses biased towards him, and i stay on neutral ground UNLESS personal opinion comes up, to which i then say that it's my personal opinion, not fact, and that it's anybody's choice to think however they want. if somebody doesn't like dazai; okay! i'm interested in talking with them, and we can both talk about things we're very passionate about and have healthy conversations! unlike some people i have seen on reddit, goddamn. but no, we're not the bad people for hating that knobhead fr. we should all treat and be treated the same as any other fan in the fandom and get along, and i wish we could ALL do that in non-toxic ways. 99% of this fandom are the loveliest people ever, but that 1% just needs to get a grip like omg. we should treat others how we want to be treated, regardless of who favours what ship and who likes what character. and real!!! if gender roles were reversed for dazai, this would be much more problematic, and that's upsetting! dw dw, i dont think its sexist, i think its putting things into perspective bc, either way, its shitty how he was treated. i fucking hate mori. whenever i see people defending him to like, the bone, like not getting into a decent discussion and being civil but instead bashing everyone who says otherwise and completely overlooking the abuse, manipulation, grooming, pedophilia and just him as a sick and twisted person in general, it just really irks me. as someone who has in fact had to deal with separate strands of abuse including many fucking counts of sexual abuse and pedophilia, it disgusts me seeing people overlooking it and it makes me feel fucking sick. that shit is not just something to be overlooked because of the fact that you enjoy mori as a character, he's not supposed to be a character that's consumed positively, he's a bad guy. a lot of characters in bsd are morally grey, but mori is just fucking morally black. he's downright evil.

3.) yes yes yessss!!! again, bringing personal stuff into it, i deal heavily with the whole topic of suicide and self harm. i've attempted twice and still deal with thoughts of it every single day, as well as self harm. so, this is one of my main reasons of dazai being my absolute favourite character, because of the representation and actual presentation of these topics. at first, we're shown them in a whimsical and whacky way, then it gets so much darker once we get into the dark era. it's a complete tonal shift, and it really sets in the gravity of the situation for him. and, as you said, he wants to have that ability to want to keep going and living, and he wants to be able to put the effort in, but he can't/ he physically cannot. as much as he would want to try, he can't. and yes, when he said that it fucking BROKE me fr. just at the chance that he's not able to keep living on anymore as a human is the one thing that keeps him alive, i fucking love asagiri's writing, it's so complex and beautiful. and its so so so real!!! youre literally right idc lmao. youve so eloquently said it im crying, youre putting all my thoughts into words <3

and yes!!! i have listened to the song, i absolutely LOVE it! and i never fail to think of dazai whenever i listen to it </3 and, i also think it's very very much like dazai, because of the multiple different versions we see of him too. chuuya hasn't exactly changed much, but he has gone through some very very complex and deep character developments, such as in fifteen and stormbringer. hes a lot more "tame" and respectful now, and a lot more mature. (except with dazai lmao) aku, we see he's changed slightly thanks to atsushi, but still no major character fucking flip arounds. all these characters we've watched slowly become better and more complex throughout the series. dazai? he just does 180s every single fucking year. hes different at 14 and 15 than he is at 18. hes different at 18 than he is at 20-22. and the different faces he puts on for each and every person, all his masks that he has. there's much variety to dazai; you never know what you'll get. there's so many different sides to him, because he doesn't know who he is. as odasaku saw him, "a lost child crying out". no matter the age, no matter the state, dazai is always going to be harbouring that broken child with him, trying to hide it and build up walls around it, because the only time he's ever shown it, he's gotten hurt or betrayed and lost some key figures in his life. trust issues much?

Here's a long boy all about the twitch stream angry moment, yes she is really upset at him and he instantly felt bad and got quite. But "yelling at him for two minutes straight" makes it sound more intense but yeah tensions were high for a bit. It's the 07/14/2021 stream (smosh showoff, confessions and meme review) specifically 12 mins from the end so at around 1h44min, I def recommend watching the full clip, Dept of Weird Sounds on YouTube didn't include it in the part 30 compilation but I think it should've been there since they were def dating by that point and it shows that they ultimately know how to deescalate things pretty quickly, stop pushing when the other is hurt and how theyre soft w each other after bickering, otherwise this could've been really bad because they were both hurt lol been wanting to talk about this one for a while but got the feeling that people haven't seen it since no one brings it up lol

They're playing Confessions and she comes up with a confessions and they have to guess whether it's true or false. C's decides her confession is "i regret not realizing my value when I was younger / having low self esteem in the past" and S jokingly goes "oh, fuck off!" and the room busts out in laughter but you can see the rest of cast is unsure whether to laugh or not because C wasn't laughing, so yeah she's scary and they don't wanna upset her aw. She didn't make it a big deal though and only asked him "do you regret that response?" when she saw he was laughing quietly in the back because he realized she wasn't amused.

The tension arises though when they're all unsure what to answer and S goes "I'm gonna be mad if you're gonna say that you don't regret your past becasue that was your journey and stuff" because he feels like that's a copout answer. And she doesn't like his response and almost threateningly (lol) goes "how would you feel about that?" he jokingly replies "I'm gonna be mad" which she ofc sees as condescending, technically she can feel however she wants to about her past and just because its a cliche answer doesn't make it untrue.

She reveals her answer and it's exactly as he predicted, so they lose. She doesn't regret how she felt in the past because it got her here, she yells "fuck you, I regret nothing bitch!" to everyone in the room (S knows her frustration is mainly directed at him and you can see him get flustered and red) then she specifically turns to S and says "and fuck you shayne! I am allowed to believe that" because it hurt her feelings that they were making fun of her potential answer before she said it esp s (her actual bf). But the rest of the "yelling" was really her talking to the room about why she answered that way and laughing about it w Damien, also crew and cast are laughing throughout so it doesn't feel as intense but those two were fighting for sure for a sec there. She was upset so she ignored him for a min as they cooled down and he was upset that she called him out like that in front of everyone and the stream, but very soon after you can see her looking at s through the stream monitor up top (since he was sitting at the top of the set behind her) and when she sees he has a pout on his face, she immediately feels bad, turns and says to him: "are you mad?", also because probably people in the chat were pointing out S is mad/embarassed. Anyway i love how as soon as she extended an olive branch to make peace he immediately is okay and laughingly explains why he thought she would answer differently and she understands that he wasn't trying to make fun of her and all is resolved, they go back to making each other laugh and be adorable for the rest of this very fun stream. Made me realize that's probably how they are, they get quiet when upset even after blowing up and then slowly reach out to apologize and they don't seem to hold the grudge for the rest of the stream, in fact they go out of their way to make each other laugh almost as a hidden "I'm sorry, I hated what just happened" in a way and that's so soft of them

Omg the Confessions stream, tensions were high for a bit, but I love how after the bickering and before they made up, when C wins the game S is still the first to clap for her ever though he's livid and pouty. And you can see her briefly glance behind to see if he's clapping to check how upset he is lol And then for the rest of the last 10 mins of stream it's just them geving each other attention and making one another laugh

Just finished watching that part and I think it's not that bad like what another anon said at all. There's some tension behind it but they masking it like a lot.

midnight at the museum - spencer reid

summary: just a fluffy and very special date night in a museum with your favorite genius

warnings: fluff overload

inspired by the lumineers, 10/10 recommend listening to them while reading

"Spence, can you please tell me where we're going?"

Spencer was sitting in the driver's seat, looking all too pleased with himself as he drove you two through the ever-busy streets of Washington D.C. It was almost midnight, and all he had said before you left your shared apartment was, "Let's go for a drive, I have something to show you."

Surprises were not Spencer's forte. They made him too anxious and he almost always ended up spilling. And usually you could tell beforehand if he was planning something. But this was definitely out of the blue.

"You know what's concerning me at this moment?" You spoke, gazing out the window at the lit up city, "You study serial killers for a living. And you're a genius. Which means you could probably figure out the perfect way to murder me without anyone finding out. Is that what this is?"

"Actually, that's not true," Spencer said factually, "There really is no such thing as the perfect crime. And lucky for you, we're almost there so I don't have time to explain to you all the scientific reasons why."

"You didn't say no," you teased, pretending to look worried.

Spencer chuckled, "Y/N, you know I'm not going to murder you. I'd have to be dead for there to be any possibility of you getting murdered by anyone. Just trust me."

He instructed you to close your eyes before turning down another road, and you had to say you were pretty excited. He parallel parked the car and turned it off. You heard him get out and the shutting of his door, and then yours opened.

"Here, hold on to me," he took your hands, helping you step cautiously out of the vehicle. Once the door was shut and the car was locked, he placed his hands gently over your eyes from behind, "One...two...three...open!"

You opened your eyes and were immediately confused, "Spencer...why are we at the Smithsonian Art Museum? It's way too late for it to be open."

"It's not open to the public, obviously," he took your hand in his, "it's nearly midnight. But it's open for us."

Your eyes lit up, "Are we doing a National Treasure type thing? Cause I'm so down for that."

Spencer chuckled, "No, we're not stealing anything. Just come on, you'll see."

He took you by the hand and led you down the sidewalk and up the stairs to the entrance. A man in a black polo and khakis was waiting for you there.

"Is this the lucky girl?" He asked Spencer.

"I would say yes, but I think I'm the lucky one," Spencer smiled, "Thanks for doing this."

"It's no problem," the man smiled, "Anything for our favorite seminar speaker."

The man led the two of you inside, whispering something to Spencer before locking the entrance again and sitting in a chair by the door.

"I'll be here if you need anything," he said, pulling out his phone.

You turned to Spencer, smiling harder than you thought possible, "Did you really get us into the Smithsonian Art gallery after hours?"

Spencer's face lit up excitedly, "We have the whole place to ourselves for as long as we want. Well, more like for the next two hours, but still."

You should've felt out of place in your yoga pants and one of Spencer's Caltech tee shirts and cardigans, plus your old vans that were the closest ones to the door, all from leaving in such a hurry. But for some reason, it felt just right.

You gave him a playful look and dropped his hand, "Race you to Degas!"

He hardly had time to process what you had said before you were racing down to the elevators. The two of you knew that museum like the back of your hand; it was the site of your first date and many dates afterward.

You were panting my the time you skidded into the exhibit, letting out a squeal of surprise when you found Spencer was already there. He was doubled over in front of one of the sculptures with his hands on his knees.

"Spence, you okay?" You breathed heavily. You were seriously considering signing you and your boyfriend up for a gym.

He nodded, raising a hand weakly to signal he was catching his breath. Eventually, he stood up to his full height, his head tipping back has he breathed out a heavy sigh, "Stairs."

You swallowed lungfuls of air greedily, finally relaxing your racing heart, "How...how did you run up three flights of stairs and all the way across the building in less than three minutes without dying?"

Spencer still panted slightly, shaking his head, "I don't know, I feel pretty dead right now."

You giggled, which in your exhausted state came out more like little puffs of breath, as you walked over to him, "This one's my favorite."

"I know," he smiled, coming up behind you to wrap his arms around your middle as you admired the sculpture, "Little Dancer of Fourteen Years, completed in 1881. Actually, it's your favorite sculpture of Degas', but your favorite painting is over there."

You bit back a grin as your eyes followed where his hand pointed to The Ballet Class. He was right. His eidetic memory always made him remember the little things.

He tucked his chin into your shoulder and just held you there. Everything seemed so magical about the moment, about the whole night. It felt like the two of you were in your own little world, the only ones inside that massive museum full of precious art. It felt like anything was possible.

Once you grew restless, you took his hand and began to wander around your favorite exhibits, running and jumped around in the large, empty halls and entry ways like kids in a candy store.

You played hide and seek and took turns scaring each other by jumping out from behind sculptures and statues. Although Spencer hates seeing you scared for a moment when he startled you, he loved watching you crack up laughing seconds later.

There was one particularly open area that lead to all the different gallery entrances and had a marble fountain in the center.

Spencer lead you over by the fountain, bowing goofily and offering you his hand, "May I have this dance?"

You giggled, "Spence you hate dancing."

He pulled you in anyways, holding you close. You sighed letting your head fall to his shoulder. That's when he began to sing.

"Wise men say

Only fools rush in

But I can't help

Falling in love with you."

His voice was off key and strained as it always was. Singing was one of the only things he really couldn't do. But your heart melted anyways, tears clouding your vision as you stared out at the moon shining through the floor-to-ceiling windows around you.

He giggled slightly at his own voice before continuing, "Oh shall I stay?

Would it be a sin?

If I can't help

Falling in love with you."

He would have kept going, but the moment was far too sweet for you to not kiss him. You pulled away enough to meet his eyes before connecting your lips to his. It was soft and tender, matching the atmosphere.

Then his phone buzzed in his pocket.

You prayed you two weren't being whisked away on a case, not when you were having the best time of your life.

He just smiled at the screen before pocketing it again, "Time for part two."

You were confused but intrigued, allowing him to pull you along as he ran towards the elevators down the hall. Once you were at the top floor, he led you all the way down to a door that read "Staff Entry Only."

He just grinned at you and punched in a code on the keypad next to the door. It hissed as it unlocked, and he pushed it open, revealing a short staircase to the roof. He nudged you to go on in front of him, and you trotted up the steps to the most beautiful sight you were sure you'd ever seen.

He had set up an entire picnic on the roof overlooking the museum district of the city. You could see the thousands of twinkling lights on buildings all around, accented by the fairy lights Spencer set up. A light breeze blew your hair back. It was all just ok perfect to be real.

"Do you like it?" He asked shyly.

You turned to him with the most adoring gaze, "I love it Spence," you gave him a tight hug, "I love you."

He wrapped an arm around your waist and an arm around your shoulders, kissing your head, "I love you too."

The two of spent the rest of your time drinking your time curled up together on the outstretched quilt, drinking favorite brand of lemonade and eating assorted flavors of scones as you stared up at the stars. It was just the two of you, no distractions, not a single other person in sight.

For those few fleeting hours, nothing existed outside Y/N and Spencer.

・once the mission begins, he begins to focus on the task at hand and almost forgets about you, until he turns a corner to see you eliminating two enemies and he cant help but feel surprised..

・he stared for a bit.. yep.. definitely just a little tiny bit.. not for long at all..

・after snapping back to his senses when he sees you give him a puzzled look, he probably will give you some cold seeming, but still kind comment, something like “i guess youre not that bad for a rookie” or “uhhhdhjdhgh i wouldve done it better but still, not bad”

・you and masaru stick together for the rest of the mission, not saying much or conversing apart from callouts and intel

・he watches you closely, and tries to focus but he just cantttt

・your teammates are confused why hes being warmer to you than everyone else after the mission

・at the end of the day he waits until everyone is gone before quickly and bluntly asking you on a date

・maxim isnt the kinda guy you’d expect to see fanboying over the newest operator, yet here he is :o

・he likes your badass demeanour, its different, it feels refreshing to him and he likes your style with it aswell ngl

・many bad attempts at him stealing glances at you both the full way there and during prep phase

・after setting up his traps and all he tries to find a spot to camp nearby you so that he can see and watch how good you actually are in the face of danger, while also looking out for enemies, of course

・your talent catches maxim off guard.. and he cant help but gawk slightly

・no one can see because of his hood and mask, but his mouth is so slightly ajar watching you in action

・hes not used to having crushes, or even having much interest in others at all! so this is different and he isnt sure how to feel or act towards you

・tries to show off subtly, which only his close comrades pick up on, no doubt he will be teased for that later by glaz and tachanka

・they especially start to pick up on his crush after the mission when maxim hesitantly approaches you and strikes up a conversation, which is fairly unlike him

・marius is intimidated, to say the least

・cant keep his eyes off of you, and when your other teammates call on him you can hear the slight stutter in his voice

・he also keeps trying to find an opportunity to talk to you, he wants to ask about your gadget, as it strikes his curiosity, and just get to know you in general

・after getting a nasty kill he glances over to you to see if you noticed it, only to realise you were currently holding the upper hand in a 1v2

・he’s whipped for you without even realising, which his gsg9 mates pick up on, smirking to each other

・at the end of the final round of you guys’ training session, blitz comes up to you and recommends that you go speak to marius, explaining that hes a bit shy to go talk to you

・you strike a convo with him and boom, once he realises youre not actually that scary on the inside, all he does is talk to you and tell you about all the shows hes watched, what random fact he found out two days ago, what he had for breakfast, everything! and you just have to try your best to keep up

vigil

・chul-kyung takes a liking to you, but no one need to know that in his opinion

・honestly you kinda scare him a bit, but nothing in the world could ever get this information out of him, also he finds you hot tho, definitely

・he studies you very intently, tryna figure out what your whole thing is

・notices that you’re in a 1v3 and dashes to the enemies from behind, only to notice that youd killed them all by the time he had gotten there. this guy was gobsmacked, youd stolen his spotlight as the “cool edgy talented one”😭

・he keeps a close eye on you for the rest of the mission, and was pretty shocked to see you in action, he wasnt sure if he should stay in his position or join in your fight in order to help defend

・and its the same for vigil as it is as echo, where his teammates are very very surprised to see his usual cold persona shift to a softer one for you

・over time you two work together more, and are by far one of the most badass and scary duos at rainbow

・sometimes he just sits back and lets you handle some very intense scenarios, which worries you guys’ teammates, but he knows you can handle it

California is supposed to be sunny all the time, isn't it? So tell me why did the sun have to go on a strike on the very first day of my holiday! Or my last day of work, it depends on how you see it...

I get home, drenched because of the rain and sigh as I kick of my shoes in a wet suction sound. Yuck!

-So it wasn't that good of a day, innit? I hear Phil asking from the kitchen.

-Do you have other understatements?

-Maybe this will help. He comed up to me with what seems to be twk cocktails, which is... Surprising, to say the least.

-Made with alcohol-free gin that Sav recommended me. He explains in response to my puzzled face.

-Oh, fine then! But I'm gonna' change first. I answer and point at my soggy clothes.

-Sure, I'll wait for you in the living room!

Of course, when I return to join him, this time in the comforting dryness of a pair of sweatpants and one of his old T-shirts, he's got his guitar with him and is sitting on the edge of the brick fireplace.

-How cheesy is this going to get?

-Not that much actually, since I've been working on songs here for the whole day.

-And I thought it was all for me. I pout and sit on the couch to take a sip of my drink, which was waiting for me on the coffee table. You know what, Sav's a liar, this thing can't be fake. I joke.

-Yeah, that's what I thought too at first!

-So, show me that thing you've bee writing.

-I thought you'd never ask! Ok, so here's one I think you'll like, Joe has lyrics, he called it All We Need, but I only have the intro so far and it's not done and I'll probably change it and...

-Stop! Play it, then you can beat it up.

-Yeah, sure...

He starts this little jangly thing, reminding of a carillion in the wind. As he said it's just a short segment, but it is very nice.

-You were right when you said I would like it! But do you know what would make it better?

-No, tell me.

-I'll say it if you come here. I state the condition with a teasy smile.

-Alright. He accepts before resting his Telecaster on its stand and sitting just a foot away from me. What is it?

-No, closer. I insist and put my glass back on the table.

He closes the gap between us, then puts an arm around me and rests his head on my shoulder, looking up at me with those ever so blue eyes that makes me melt inside.

-Now?

-That's the missing thing. I finally say and plant a kiss on his lips.

-Now I think I have another song idea... He whispers after I let go of his mouth.

-Tomorrow. Right now, you're finding inspiration and nothing else, is that clear?

-Yes ma'am. He smiles and lay me down on the couch for another, much longer kiss.

Ahhhhh Yazs last chapter! I loved it and was surprised how easily the Doctor came out to her about being genderqueer and her pronouns, because I expected her to be a bit dodgy about the subject, maybe the conversation with Jack helped her a lot. I kinda hoped that she would tell Yaz about her former name, John, but baby steps LOL. AND RIVER YEEESSSSS. I didnt know that she visited her, I can imagine that River wasnt exactly happy to see her but it is cute that she gave her that mixtape awwww

Ahhh thank you so much, I'm so glad you enjoyed it!!

You know, it's quite funny with the Doctor, but honestly I think that there are so many other things on her mind at the moment, so many things that she is actively avoiding talking about, that talking about her gender and sexuality is relatively easy territory HAHA! But also I think it has a LOT to do with the context of the conversation. For a start, Yaz came out first, and in my personal experience (which a lot of that conversation was inspired by honestly haha) it is SIGNIFICANTLY easier to come out to someone who has also just come out to you, because it suddenly becomes less of a terrifying thing and much more a 'oh my days we're family' thing, which is really lovely. And you can be a lot more frank about it too, and more open about the complexity of the whole thing, because this is another queer person who will most likely get where you're coming from in a way that a cis straight person probably wouldn't so much.....so I think, for the Doctor, that has a lot to do with it. But I also think Yaz really went about it the right way too, which helped a lot - she didn't try and put any names on what the Doctor experienced, and just left it open for her to say what she wanted. And this helped the Doctor a lot, because she honestly doesn't know in some ways, and in others it's ended up being a bit complicated. But you'll see all of that in a lot more detail from the Doctor's side when you get her pov of that scene!

You are right, though, in that there are definitely times when the Doctor would have been more cagey about this sort of thing - and I think that would have been if she'd felt like she needed to give a clear cut answer, or felt like she was being pressured to explain it all more than she feels comfortable with. There is a lot that she doesn't say to Yaz. There is a lot that she doesn't say in general, actually, which is partly why her section is significantly longer than anyone else's haha (as well as the fact that she sleeps less than everyone else sksk)

About the name John, though - well, unfortunately, at this stage in the story, she will definitely not talk to ANYONE about that, and it's because it's all entangled in the past she can't really remember. It's a direct thread pulling back on everything between her and Koschei and she...isn't dealing well, let's say.

AND THIS IS GETTING LONG BUT YES RIVER!! Oh, River.....yeah, that meeting in 2018 was really complicated. I feel like it was significantly more difficult for River than for the Doctor, who just had no context for anything. But I really wanted them to meet like that, because it's meant to be a parallel between that moment in River's first episode in the show, where she looks at the Doctor and he just does not know her at all. The album that she recced though, in case it wasn't clear, wasn't in 2018, but way back when they were sort-of-dating - and as I said in the ask I just answered, it was because it resonated with her a lot and she thought it would resonate with the Doctor too. If you haven't listened to it, I do recommend it actually because it's a GORGEOUS album and very raw in places.

Not only have I always found Venom HOT as fuck, finding out years ago that unlike the Sam Raimi movies Venom actually is not a parasite inside Eddie's body possessing him or just a mean to make him stronger with no personality but on the contrary work together and CHOOSE to and little by little learned to know each other, Eddie see Venom as more than just a weapon and Venom see Eddie as more than just a vessel to survive on Earth and eventually CANONICALLY fall in in love in the comics with sweet pet names and even going as far as having children together and feeling empty and lost when separated desperately needing to be together like addicted to each other (which isn't super healthy and Venom can be harsh and violent at times, but eh, fiction and alien) was the death of me

Hello Nurse from Animaniacs X Wile E. Coyote from the Looney Tunes. A crossover ship but I HC/it's heavily hinted both take place in the same world at the Warner studios so it's not impossible. As I said, there would be a lot of sapiosexuality involved, she being glad for once someone is interested in her brain rather than her bra size and him glad to see someone finally as much of a genius as himself due to his ego, as well as often needing to put him back together with lots of bandages at the Warner Studios which must have helped bonding. I can imagine them having dates that solely consist of solving equations

Stretch X Kat when she will be an adult from Casper. Yes it's probably the first time I speak of it here on Tumblr but ever since I've watched this movie and episodes of the show at age 13 or 14 I FELT there was potential. Of course nothing for now because she is just 13 so THANK GOD, but they both are headstrong, she was the very first person to argue back and often do instead of being scared of him proving they are just as stubborn as each other and Stretch loves to troll her in particular... I feel like that once she'll be grown it'll be he kind of angryfuck relationship I like in fiction (even if I don't think there will be actual fuck since, well, he is a ghost who passes through things and has no wiener lmao). In fact there is an excellent fanfic I had read back then and it's very good and is very similar if not straight up my headcanon for them, I recommend it it's War on Fanfiction.net and it helped me solidify my feelings about it
