this man isn’t the most sensitive or understanding in general — so he wouldn’t necessarily ‘get’ or question your religious practises

like if you’re spiritual and perform smudging in the manor then you’re only really going to irritate his demonic staff and prevent them from entering certain rooms for a while

on the other end of the spectrum, smudging is an excellent way of keeping claude and the triplets out of your rooms if you’re annoyed

this would amuse alois for sure — but his interests would be focused exclusively on the aesthetic and story based aspects of your culture

he loves listening to you as you explain the folklores and mythologies of your two heritages — wide eyed and quiet for once as he takes in everything you have to say

he has a particular preference for creatures and deities that explore the gorier aspects of life, and he’ll ask you to retell them often, but he’ll listen to any story you have to tell

and if you participate in cultural crafts like beadwork or shodo or anything along those lines, then he’ll gladly fund your work and might even pay you to make things for his person, his peers or just to display about the estate

he’ll also ensure that you’re never without clothing from your cultures and would prefer you wear it over things from england — be that a selection of richly dyed kimonos for you to wear during galas, or importing regalia from your tribe for you to wear during traditional dances and such if that’s something you partake in

if your tribe partakes in the tradition of getting facial tattoos, then he’ll be incredibly interested in their history and meaning for you

will celebrate and observe holidays that aren’t on the british calendar with you — whether that’s national foundation day, or something that requires travel abroad like a powwow

and in the same vein, he’s not afraid to send his servants after anyone who disrespects you whilst at his manor

Our!Ciel Phantomhive

ciel has a particular interest in the culinary/confectionary side of your dual cultures and would be very invested in trying and recreating the dishes you grew up eating

that, of course, includes sweet things like candies and desserts

(his favourites are dango and saututhig)

but it also applies to meals — especially those associated with specific holidays

so, for example, he would have sebastian recreate the seasonal flavours of namagashi if you opt to take part in any tea ceremonies

or he might recreate some festival foods like okonomiyaki or yakitori when it’s the right season

or if you’re craving something from a powwow, he’ll ensure you have access to things like corn soup, fry bread and so on

he never wants you to be without the comfort foods you grew up with, nor the things you crave

so he has the staff modify the manor’s menu and meal rotation to incorporate more foods from japan and from your tribe

(which is a relief as british food isn’t the most flavourful in the world)

he also insists on trying to learn whichever language (or languages) you’re comfortable with so he’s able to connect and understand more of his future spouse’s culture and world views

he struggles immensely with japanese, specifically with forming his kanji for some reason, but his pronunciation is pretty spot on

but he manages to pick up the language of your tribe pretty quickly

so he’d probably prefer to speak to you using that tongue if he wished to mention something privately

he’s also keenly aware of the history of conflicts faced by native americans — as well as the bigotry faced by immigrants in the uk

he did his fair share of studying at the beginning of your relationship and, well, he has eyes and the situational awareness to recognise how you were being treated

this makes him incredibly protective of you — he trusts you to take care of yourself (you are engaged to the queen’s watchdog, after all), but that doesn’t mean that he expects you to put up with outright horrific treatment by his peers or his people

in other words: sebastian and the rest of the phantomhive staff get some free target practise courtesy of people that insult the lord of the house’s fiancé

Real!Ciel Phantomhive

this man is the sort to spoil his partner however he can at every opportunity — and you are far from the exception

any food that you’re craving, he’ll have the ingredients imported and will hire a specialty chef (or train one) to make it for you

any clothing you desire, he’ll have hand made and imported

if you miss your family or wish to go home to celebrate a holiday, he’ll arrange a trip to the americas or to japan and send you there with supplies and gifts to spare

he’ll usually try to go with you, but there are times where his schedule just doesn’t allow it so you’ll be travelling alone (with dozens of personal attendants)

he’ll study every language you speak independently, learning them whilst you’re away in order to surprise you when you get home

he’ll decorate the manor with pieces of art that represent both of the cultures you come from — or pieces that were made by yourself/your relatives

if there are any local sports or games that you enjoy, he’ll arrange for them to happen at the estate

he’s an excellent partner in that regard

but he puts his business and reputation above a lot of the things he should be doing for you

like yes he’ll spoil and indulge and learn for you

but if one of his most important investors says something offensive then he won’t do anything to stop it

at most he’ll encourage them to keep that talk to his office, but usually he’ll just laugh along and encourage you to grin and bear it

he wants to defend you, really, but he can’t risk plummeting his business because of it

he doesn’t have the means to get rid of someone without it looking suspect — which would tank his reputation and out both of you at risk

if he can punish someone for being cruel, he will — like a staff member of his or someone on the streets

but most of the time he really can’t — so the most he can do is try to keep you away from it all

as his father taught him, his duties to his country and his business come first — only then can he be a husband and lover

Sebastian Michaelis

he spends most of his time with you switching between japanese and the language of your tribe — mainly because he doesn’t like the idea of anyone (or anything) listening in on your combinations and seeing him in such a vulnerable state

he has an incredibly low tolerance for any mistreatment of you (actual or perceived) and, unless instructed otherwise by his master, will just eliminate them immediately after their transgression

a lot of the time you don’t even realise what happened — only that someone is now missing

but you’re usually able to put the pieces together

if you have an argument, he’s usually able to gather how mad you are based on how many rooms have been cleansed and he’s no longer able to enter

the worst argument you had, to date, ended with you cleansing the entire manor and locking him to the outside and the basement for a whole week

if you’re ever feeling homesick, it’s a cakewalk for sebastian to get you back to your family — you can be there one day and back in england the next

but good luck explaining to either side of your family that you’re courting a demon

if you’re artsy and like creating things to honour your heritage then he’ll indulge you, fetching you the necessary materials and displaying the final result proudly

he has met both sides of your family and has scared the crap out of a few relatives when they accidentally almost cleansed him out of a room

(not a fun conversation to have)

he’s an excellent cook (naturally) and is more than happy to indulge any cravings you have for foods that aren’t a commonly sold thing in england

of course he’ll encourage you to eat full, hearty meals because he wants you to be as taken care of as possible, but he can’t say no to his mate and will usually give in if you’re particularly desperate for sweet things or street foods

he gives you a number of nicknames based on new or traditional pet names from your cultures

for example, some japanese pet names he might use are ‘ダーリン’ (daarin), ‘ハニー’ (hanii) (these are mainly used in notes sent to each other) — or, when speaking, he might something more traditional like calling you your given name or an a version with the appropriate suffix (depending on your preference)

and, of course, any other pet names depends on the tribe you’re from

No weird questions here! I am non-judgmental, any asks are good ones so no worries anon. <3

•Alois and Ciel butt heads a lot, their hobbies, fashion, ways of managing their estates, and overall personalities clash in all aspects. With you though? Oh no, you are their precious little angel, and they could never fight with you. Their personalities seem to merge with yours, allowing you to get the best of both worlds! (The flamboyant and serious worlds that is…)

• Alois would be the more sentimental lover in the relationship, giving homemade gifts, little paper mache butterflies and rings. He would often try to plan his duties around you, instead of Ciel, who tries his best to match up time for you between work and investigations.

•Alois is a very physically affectionate lover, seeking out your warmth, even on the hottest of days. Hand holding, hugs and escapades to the bedroom are an incredibly common occurrence, his seemingly endless energy has a way to use itself in loving you. Some of his favorite ways of showing his affection, however, can be more simple, cuddling you as you read or write, laying on top of you in the bed and petting your hair.

•Ciel and Alois are usually very competitive with each other in earning your affection and praise overall, but they don‘t match up equally in particular areas of your relationship. For instance, Ciel may try to cheer you up and give you positive energy like Alois does, but he can never truly get it right. Alois may try and be patient like Ciel when it comes to solving arguments or listening to you, but his temperament is nowhere near as calm and collected as Ciel‘s. His soul is a flame, and it dances from interest to interest, place to place, and as much as he wants to include you on his trips and ventures, he knows you have work as the lady of the manor to attend to his home, as well as Ciel‘s. He gets terribly homesick for you when you aren‘t with him, and on his journeys he will gather all manner of gifts to bring home to his love.

•Ciel is also a little bit of a traveler, but his homesickness for you exists on a deeper, more intimate level. In the dark of night, the bedsheets are swirled about him in a cocoon of fabric, some sort of false security when you are not by his side. Ciel can only do so much to stave off the feeling of loneliness, and on every case it ebbs away at him slowly. Sebastian can only do so much but listen to the gentle cascade of tears that fall on Ciel‘s pillowcase at night. Ciel in turn will actually take up advice Alois had given him. („Use creativity to cope with the pain!“ Alois said with a cheery smile. Ciel would think of his words and quickly follow suit with little sketches of the places he went, the animals he saw, and people he met. Writing down little notes about them, analyzing their personalities and their roles in the investigations, it would be his way of connecting to you, whether a carriage or ocean away…).

•Alois and Ciel will take pampering you to another level by asking Claude and Sebastian to step in, respectively. Claude finds the interest his highness has in you more interesting than usual, enriching his contractee, and he will put in every last bit of perfection and politeness when taking care of you on Alois‘ orders. Sebastian, (already a prefect butler), will sometimes test the boundaries of his master‘s orders in caring for you, trying to beat both Alois and Claude at once. The pair of lords and the dueling demons seem not to realize that you love both Alois and Ciel equally, in their own unique ways, and that there simply is no competition. (Explain all you can, there is no reasoning with these stubborn pairs…)

•There is a time when things can turn around for the comfort of all… Bedtime has always been a special ritual to the throuple of Alois, Ciel, and yourself, allowing the tension and stress to fall away. You lay in the middle of them, facing Ciel and curled up in his chest with his arms around you, while Alois is pressed up against your back, arms around you and Ciel. All three of you enjoy snuggling, and Ciel and Alois would both be lying if they denied that sometimes when you were gone, they themselves snuggled each other at night, dreaming of you in between them safe and sound…

First of all, he is going to be all over you and just...not let go.

-If you leave him for a few minutes he's having a tantrum

Alois also trust you with his EVERYTHING. I feel like he would randomly come to you room and just talk about his problems for hours without feeling guilty about them.

I mean you are his only family :)

Alois really does need you. He refuses to go anywhere without you because deep down he's scared.

Also i feel like he overthinks a lot. You probably reassure him about most things.

Whenever you defend him about something he just has this lil smirk on his face

If anyone messes with Alois, he immediately runs to you and you probably just end that person...yeah

If somebody just tell you that you're doing a little too much for him you'll disagree with a passion

I also feel like he'd be very jealous whenever someone other than him interact with you. (Even if its Claude)

For example when you finish talking with someone he'd be all like ''Who is that person?'' ''What were you guys talking about'' ''Did something happened?'' you get the point.

We already know how Claude isn't the biggest fan of Alois and visibly likes you better.

He likes you better because you're tolerable also he secretly loves your nature.

Another important thing about Claude is that he is not an emotional person so it takes a while to be his liking.

When he does star liking you more, he'd get more possessive over you. Claude would also start spending more time with you than normal.

When Alois realises that Claude probably likes you more than himself, he'd cry. :(

You probably had assured him about this multiple times but Alois is just scared that Claude is gonna make you forget about him.

Claude kinda finds it annoying that you always look after Alois, he secretly want a little bit of attention too.

Claude probably keeps an eye on you all times, he just wants to make sure that you're safe. He also stays by your side (most of the time).

modern AU for convenience, also long post warning

- sebastian listens to the most pretentious classical music ever created. he also only listens to music in the car. made ciel learn to play the violin or something. he hates modern music with a burning passion

-ciel says he listens to classical music to keep his dignity, but he actually listens to nightcore versions of fnaf fan songs. he would not admit this under any circumstances

-alois is very open about listening to nightcore versions of fnaf songs, however he does not have headphones and plays music everywhere. when claude got him headphones he started singing along. badly

-claude has never willingly listened to music in his life, and he does not plan on starting ever. he probably thinks alois’s fansongs are all that exists. once he listened to dubstep and it gave him a seizure

-undertaker listens to old, old rock music. the shit on your moms cassete tape in the 70s. he is the biggest music nerd you have ever seen, but he has never willingly listened to a song from after 1995 and will keep it that way

-grelle listens to the horniest pop music ever made. she listens to anime character tiktok edit audio songs. that and musicals. so, so many musicals. she probably also sings along, but sings better than alois

-william says he doesn’t listen to music, but he’s secretly a huge music nerd, especially about old music. my guy would be in band in high school. probably not a band kid, though. he hung out with the calculus kids

I strongly headcanon Alois and Luka to be a just a little slavic. Just a tiny bit. Not just bc I'm slavic but like. Their names... Alois real name is Jim which was common in English speaking countries at the time yea yea whateves. But Luka? That's one of the most common slavic names from south slavic countries... And from what I gather it wasn't a common name in English speaking regions esp in the Victorian era.

The boys' last name Macken is of Irish origins so my personal headcanon is that they are of slavic/Irish descent. Considering how slavs and the Irish were treated during this time period and how a lot lived in poverty I'd say it's a pretty informed headcanon.

I know the s2 staff likely did not put any thought into naming them but let me have this

At first (and sometimes in certain moments) he acts incredibly embarrassed by you. He isn’t some little kid who needs to be constantly looked after, you know! He’s an adult! (Or, depending on verse, close to one!) It flusters him in particular to have you treat him, well, like a big sister while other people who aren’t the servants are around. And, occasionally, even the servants. If he didn’t make the triplets stay quiet, they would have quite a bit to say about your coddling him, and he knows it, and he doesn’t like even knowing they’re thinking it!!

Frequently you tag-team with Hannah to figure out how best to handle particular situations. Neither of you have been in his life for very long, but Hannah does have at least a year or so on you. (Again, depending on verse, possibly longer.) As much as you care for Alois, you don’t know all his quirks and preferences yet. Even Hannah doesn’t know them all. Working together is the best way to effectively handle Alois’ behavior so he doesn’t either spiral out of control or turn things round on you. No room for jealousy or competition here, the earl can have two big sisters! Even if he figures out what you’re doing, he’ll probably just begrudgingly accept that you and Hannah together likely know what’s best. Doesn’t mean he won’t fight the both of you, of course.

In private, Alois is far less uptight about being treated like a child or having you take care of him. Without prying eyes around, suddenly he desperately, visibly wants the childhood he never had. He wants the love and affection and security that comes with having a big sister. He’ll let you carry him round the house, he’ll hug you tightly and fuss if you have to let go before he wants you to, he’ll even ask for things like a goodnight kiss on the forehead if he gets comfortable enough. He doesn’t fight you as much if you have to to unpleasant things to make him feel better when he’s sick or hurt. He stops caring what people think, because there’s no one around to give a shit if he’s letting you treat him like a baby.

He likes to watch you cook, particularly if you’re cooking breakfast. It’s his favorite meal of the day, and he asserts that Timber just never gets it right the way you do. He’ll happily sit in the kitchen, still half asleep and resting his tired head on one of the counters, and let his eyes follow your movements. Sometimes he even gives you orders, asking you if you’ll add more milk than that to the tea or whining that you need to go grab the toast because it’s about to burn. Although he might be a bit irritating sometimes, that early morning haze takes away his filter of being cruel to protect himself. He’s just soft and annoying and loving in the way a younger brother is, without any of the unpleasant defense mechanisms. If you start to break his shell enough, he’ll begin to shed those defense mechanisms and just be himself anyway. Keep letting him watch you cook breakfast.

Once he relaxes or if he’s having a bad day, he’ll cry in your arms for a long time. The weight of his whole life has been something he’s carried alone, and it’s heavy, and he just wants to fucking put it down sometimes. Even if he doesn’t tell you everything, he cuddles into you and sobs. He begs you not to leave him, and he says he’s sorry for being difficult so often, and he thanks you for not giving up on him. Quite possibly the saddest thing you’ll ever hear anyone say passes his lips during moments like this: “You… you promise that… you won’t ever stop loving me… will you? Promise me… promise me you won’t…!”

Older!Alois Trancy - discovering the 'truth'

Again, and I mentioned this for those who aren't familiar with my post and a crack theory I saw circling around; the idea is that Alois is actually THE Alois mentioned in season 2. You know, the son of Earl Trancy and his late wife who offed herself due to the "kidnapping" of her son? So, imagine Claude suggested this fabricated story, thinking it too unbelievable to possibly be the truth, only for the young, naive 14-year-old Alois to think it perfect to trick his "uncle" with. In this case........ it wasn't a fabricated story by Alois when Arnold Trancy came over. "Jim Macken" is his name, the name given to him by the couple who adopted him as a baby.

Anyways...

In no way do I see him taking this news well. That's the understatement of the century, but you know what I mean.

Even if Claude didn't yeet him into the afterlife and nom nom on his soul at the end of S2, I can still sort of see the rivalry between him and Ciel throughout the years. Either way, I digress: let's say Alois - for one reason or another - is able to celebrate a few more birthdays past his canon age of 14. So, now he's a young adult and is suddenly staring the cold, cruel truth right in its face.

How, exactly, the truth of him being the biological son of the late Earl Trancy being discovered is something that could have happened in many ways. The most likely way I see this happening is that Claude got pretty tired of Alois' "boring" soul and decided to stir the pot. It isn't out of the realm of possibility to see Claude unearth some secrets of the Trancy estate in order to... alter Alois mental state so that it may affect the "flavor" of his soul.

Now, in Alois' extreme grief and PTSD coming back full force upon such a horrific revelation, his soul is now more appealing to Claude (yippie -_-).

No servant in that household is prepared or equipped for the incredibly detached and (even more) unstable young man they serve under. Most days I can see Alois staring blankly, mind going at super speeds. Hardly anyone can get through to him. But, as I said, the flavor of his soul is now more appealing to Claude. That little shit knows what he did stirring the pot and is waiting patiently for his mental state to "burn even hotter."

I can only see Alois working through this if he had a companion. In this case, the reader. They are a human, they have emotions, they can understand him. It's really all they can do to help him through such heavy news. And even if Alois is older now and has mentally and emotionally matured ever-so-slightly (i am a firm believer he has bpd but that's another can of worms), he is still in the process of growing as a person. So, having an actual person in his life whom he trusts and cares for deeply, and boy does he care deeply (scorpio energy fr), he will not ever forget it nor will he ever let them go. They are his rock, his safe place, his only anchor to the world. If he can't trust anyone, then he can trust them. In fact, it may just be the catalyst towards a future marriage proposal.
