You press yourself into his side when the creep comes up and you call Ghost your boyfriend, and Ghost (as you later learn to call him) grabs your hip possessively, tucking you in closer.

He doesn't let you go, later, when the creep fucks off. Instead, he slips your phone out of your pocket and puts his contact inside. Texts himself and slips it back into your pocket while making eye contact. Blows smoke in your face and snorts when you wave it away, huffing at him and sticking your cute little tongue out at him.

You have fun with the military men that night, Ghost even walks you home to feel safe. You wake up the next day, happy to be safe and sound, and go about your day. Forget all about Ghost for awhile, because he never texts you first.

Weeks later, youre in the middle of your kitchen when he walks in, a copy of your key in his hand. Slots himself in behind you and rests his chin on your head even when you panic and claw at him.

What? He's home now, came home to you, his partner. Just like you wanted, right? You wanted him, now you've got him.

Not just Mario, but BOTH brothers are bamboozled over their father's sudden praise because they feel like they've never been able to impress him before. Now, this has never bothered Luigi as much as it bothered Mario, and Luigi knows it. That's why, after recovering from his initial shock;

Luigi looks at Mario with his hands clasped over his heart and a big smile on his face. He's so happy, but for a different reason. Luigi knows how much their father's words mean to Mario, and seeing him get exactly what he's wanted for years, seeing his brother so happy, makes him happier than any praise he could receive. Mario has been Luigi's hero for their whole lives, and now everyone knows it!! He's so proud and happy for his brother!!

Hahahahahahahahahah! Finally! Finally my players have noticed the false hydra!

It's not a fully fledged false hydra. I'm not gonna run that memory erasure gaslighting on them. They didn't sign off on that for their waivers. But I have had this monster under this location and the lore around it written for over a year now. And they've finally killed the evil queen that had locked it up and held it at bay, and now it's loose and it's nasty long necked heads are creeping up out of the ground and dragging bodies back down into it's lair to eat.

Hah! And I scared the crap out of them and I'm so happy! I've been wanting them to get here for so long! They killed my mutant umber hulk hive before they could see how cool it was, they killed my kracken before it could drag anyone into the deep, and they managed to kill my giant mutant bug monster before it could explode on them. But this! The hydra monster! Finally I have a horrible scary monster that gets to do its thing!

They've had two sessions where the monster could have gotten them. But I had them roll saving throws to see if they took damage from a bite they couldn't see. And until tonight they had rolled natural 20s every time.
