What do you think about Helaena's portrayal in the show? Idw to ask about Aegon's portrayal because he was the one that get fucked up the most even if they wanted him to be the main antagonist of the show there were many "more complex and interesting" ways to portray him. But what about helaena? There is always something wrong in Helaena's character in the show for me, in many ways she does seems to be a caricature of the trope of the weird prophetic princess.

This is going to be an essay. Buckle up.

As endearing and easy to feel for her circumstances she is (and the show is how I got to know her, I liked her to begin with regardless and I read Fire and Blood only after watching), I feel like the show failed her tremendously, not only by falling into the trope you mentioned, but perpetuating stereotypes regarding neurodivergent people as well as making Helaena a victim before bothering to make her a person. Let me get into it one by one.

The trope of the neurodivergent girl with powers, to begin with, is obviously a somewhat uncomfortable trope that hints neurodivergency doesn't have a place to be unless it is accompanied by powers of some sort. The idea of neurodivergence being inherently magical is harmful in a detracting kind of way. That already kind of leaves a bad taste in the mouth as both the neurodivergence and dreamer plotlines were added without textual evidence in F&B, so the mix is probably deliberate to create 'she's more than what meets the eye' type of character. Doesn't work as well in today's sphere of things.

Now, I wouldn't care nearly as much about the trope if they bothered to make her more than just her prophecies and her neurodivergence. They could've had their cake and could've eaten it if they gave her actual lines that speak of how she feels about what's around her and in what situation she's in. Every single line she has in the show is a prophecy, save for exactly two: her speaking about her millipede to Alicent (because her hyper fixation is the only she cares about, apparently) and her roasting Aegon at dinner (which was a serve, but was once more only there to serve she cannot converse like a normal person and to show she is a victim). We have absolutely nothing about how she feels as a person, as a sister, as a mother! They barely gave her a chance to react to Driftmark, we don't know if she was scared about her wedding and what is happening to her, we don't even get her saying what she thinks about her visions! We have zero framing of anything. We see nothing of what the book describes her as: Why was she described as a happy girl? Why people agreed she would be a lovely mother? Why did the smallfolk like her, why was her death their last straw? Who is she, aside from bugs and weird mumblings? Autistic people have thoughts and feelings and many of them can express them in an even better way than people without autism (I worked for 4 years with autistic adults, and I'm pretty sure I'm on the spectrum myself - anecdotal evidence it is, but there was no reason to not let her have actual character moments.) Many people in this fandom are convinced she is not able to hold a single conversation with anyone - it's atrocious and offensive.

And then we have the victim discussion, which only packs it in further. She is shown to be a perpetual victim in the show, pretty clearly to vilify Aegon (who frankly is also a victim of the marriage, but we don't get to talk about that). She has been stripped of all her agency; in the books, she talks smack about Aegon in a humorous way, she sits on his war council and advocates for peace, she is a good mother who is hands-on with her children and consistently portrayed with them. She has a life, and meaning outside of being a victim, she's active. When you think of a princess who claimed the largest dragon living in the dragon pit, don't you at least think she is courageous? that she has a sense of life in her, to drive her to do such a thing? And she could've done all of the things she does in the book, with the dreamer plot and the neurodivergent characterization all the same, and that is what drives me insane. These were additions, but they didn't have to overwrite Helaena as a whole.

We don't get to see her truly live, and care about the things she loves. When B&C happens, we are going to see an autistic woman brutalized and her children hurt and murdered many people would cheer for it, without the necessary preparation of showing how much she cared about the children, without showing any conflict of hers to take the mantle as Queen, without her ever showing or thinking about these complex situations she's been put in. She's not allowed to have an opinion politically, at least not so far - she's not allowed to have as much voice as her brothers do and she's not allowed to be taken seriously as Queen Consort as Rhaenyra is taken seriously as Queen, which is such, SUCH a shame, because if we had a smidge of comparisons between the two sisters we could have had them be proper foils, which is interesting, and not to the detriment of either of them!

To conclude; they sprinkled on Helaena tropey traits, made her lines be more or less summed up as cool foreshadowing, and erased the traits that would've made the crowd find her endearing and relatable as a person. (and I have theories about it, but I won't get into it here). They failed Helaena not because of the additions themselves, but because they refuse to take her place as a woman in this story seriously, as well as refused to flesh her out beyond the surface-level tropes. She could've been so, so much more, and I can talk about it for hours, but choices have been made. Her arc deserved to be built up better, as did her character, and it's very frustrating.

in my mind the prequels take place in what would be our 1940s or 1950s as the ogs reflected closer the political context of the 60s.

with a war raging on, people need some sort of distraction as to not go insane with the politics and bloodshed of it all - an escapism the entertainment industry is more than happy to provide. anything you could possibly want to escape your own life for a little while, they have.

i like to imagine each clone legion has has their own taste when it comes down to their poison of choice - the 302th are very into the thrillers of an acclaimed silver fox actor. the 127th favour comedies regardless of whoever stars in them.

the 501st claimed starlet!reader as their girl. that's quite literally how she's known in the clones barracks, "the 501st's girl".

the legion is very familiar with their girl and her filmography. even though not all of her repertoire is romance, that's the one genre they indulge in the most.

in the two hours they get to spend with her, they get to live the romance of a lifetime they may never get to experience otherwise. she's their forbidden lover, their wife, their temptress.

their girl, really.

she's special to them, even if in a parasocial way. it's a tragic thought to think how many of them passed with a picture of her on the windshield of their ship.

maybe that's why anakin agreed to watch a holo-film of hers with the 401st. it's important to them, so it's important to him. a little bonding time.

he just didn't expect to become so quickly enraptured with you, too - not in the same way his clone comrades are, their girl is the vessel for their fantasies. to anakin? you're his fantasy.

i doubt he cares much for your movies, i think he prefers your interviews and commercials. he has a few favorite frames he comes back to often.

he lingers on them more than he should - a parasocial relationship *hardly* counts as an attachment anyways.

considering how most holo-projections are 3D, i'm sure he's already familiar with your form, from head to toes.

but no projection can compare to seeing the real thing for the first time - you were actually real? he couldn't wrap his head around that idea.

i mean, you looked real when you arrived in a pretty little white-blue outfit, accompanied by palpatine, (who ofc organized the whole thing). you were all smiles and waves, clearly trying to make contact with as many eyes as you could before you went onstage.

you sounded real when you yelped and giggled when you almost tripped on the slippery stairs when you were headed center to deliver a small speech to your boys (as you so lovingly called them).

but what really almost sold him on the fact that you were real, was feeling you. physically you were meters away, but with his connection to the force? you were almost breathing down his neck with how close he felt your force presence. the very essence of what makes you, you.

you were singing your heart out up there - oblivious to how you intoxicated almost all of anakin's senses by simply existing in the same space as him.

he just really needed to confirm you tasted real, to be completly sold on your existence as something beyond a hallucination of his haunted mind.

I sadly do agree with the anon on the pkmn blog rn bc I also noticed a change in how you respond aswell.

i can think of two examples straight off my head of when you seemed biased. srry to bring it back up but ya the first time was when the porn proportioned terra discourse happened. you spoke for the anon and changed the meaning of what they said to “oh they just meant kea should be more varied” when its clear thats not what ppl were upset about. the second example was when you also made it seem like anons who had imo very legit reasons to be upset about the way you handled the “speculation” were just being crazy out of nowhere. like you said they were like “you should die in a fire if u think this is ok” when no one said that, they were just rightfully disgusted and concerned.

ik this is a drama blog but the truth does matter too even when it means conceding that someone u disagree with was not bad in a situation or also that someone u agree with was bad.

idk i think u have been ok sofar but like yea if u learned from this it would make ur blog alot better like when it started

prefacing my reply by saying im not arguing against the point this anon made or trying to paint my responses linked as “correct” or anything, just giving my reasoning for stuff

i will say that these 2 situations are the ones that have exhausted me the most when it comes to topics on here, which does further my point about how i can be bitter when topics get more aggressive. im not sure if i should take this as an issue with myself, or whether to show that being nasty to myself and others in my inbox just helps nobody. lets go with both!

starting with example 1, i felt like i made it pretty clear that i had my own interpretation of the comment, i think i even said as much within my reply. i will admit though i dont really have any sort of fondness for kea and their previous sexualization of terra adopts did leave a bad taste in my mouth regarding them. regardless, i think the reason i gave og anon so much slack is because of the (in my opinion) unbalanced response to it in the first reply. i think that there should be some more disconnect when it comes to critiquing a person ideas as opposed to the person themselves; what i mean by that is you can say “that comment you made or that idea you hold is misogynistic” without making aggressive assumptions as the person replying did. i think that maybe it makes it my fault for not being clearer that assumptions like that arent welcome here, or maybe its more my fault for having a very specific expectation of how people should interact. either way

example 2 i think has a bit of a shorter explanation, this specific ask set me off about the whole situation, since i agree it really shouldnt have gone on as long as it did. but as ive stated many times before i prefer to post everything in my inbox just to be more trustworthy as a mod and i was expecting that ppl could just let the topic die on its own. the assumptions thing was also happening here, and with the arguing going on it just pissed me off. i will say about the specific “die in a fire comment” that wasnt me so much saying that anons were claiming stuff like that, but rather me being hyperbolic in explaining my stance. i can be really hyperbolic on here when it comes to jokes and i can realize sometimes it isnt the most obvious thing, but thats my way of communicating for when im not being the most serious. with that specific situation, i was getting really annoyed that people were winding down to slapfighting, and if i presented the opposing anons as crazy or not really having a leg to stand on, thats my bad. i can see where both sides are coming from, it was just at that point in the argument i really just wanted it to be done and i maintain the stance that it really wasnt any of our business

i dont mean to present my opinions on here as the correct ones or that people who disagree with me are bad, and my responses on here are meant to be my interpretation of asks and how i see things personally. if i give my interpretation, it isnt meant to be like “oh actually anon meant this,” its more like “the way i read it is they could mean this, i dont have a ton of evidence one way or the other though so this is just my thoughts”

Rogue crushing on another villain henchperson and it's mutual. It's pretty clear and he asks if being a big villain was the reason for their interest. But then Y/N says "Oh no, it's not the reason. When I'm with my boss, people always see him first. But you? You looked at me. Most people I meet think of me as an afterthought or try to get to my boss through me. It was nice for someone to see me first."

The Riddler: "I know what that's like. For someone to see you but not really see you." He smiled slightly. He grew weary of that feeling a long time ago. Edward was better than that. He was smart enough to see something in people that are worth his time. Something everyone else seems to miss. You were no exception. There was something about you that made you worth his time and like a puzzle, he was going to figure you out and decide if you were worth it. "However, Crane hired you and speaks highly of you. There's a reason for that. Naturally I'm curious about you. Don't let me down, will you (Y/N)?"

Scarecrow: "Well, it seems rather surprising that the likes of Roman Sionis would hire such a capable, level headed individual such as yourself." Jonathan said crisply. He noticed the way you blushed slightly and curled into yourself. "I trust you find his work satisfactory?" He asked and you nodded. You could hear his grin behind the mask. "Oh and if I can help it, I'll see much more of you."

Mad Hatter: "I find you much more pleasant company than Edward. Especially those he employs." Jervis shrugged simply. "Edward hires such dull and boring people! I do consider dear Edward a friend however his actions and employees are rather...what's the word? Theatrical? No...I'd say that's more of a quality for some. Arrogant? Ah! Two words, insufferably arrogant!" His eyes gleamed as he grinned. He tapped the tip of your nose. "Not you!" He sang before giggling. "No, you are a very good choice indeed. No worries anon dear the request is pretty clear cut! Personally this was therapeutic to write ngl, I had fun playing with it n.n there's just some days where even we have to wonder whether we make promises to keep or to purposely break.

When you keep your word:

He finds your diligence assuring, the first born of all people has had his fair share of broken vows in the past, some compromising his position in life. And even then, he of all people would know how easily influenced humans can be should something pose a threat to their made promises.

At first he didn't pay mind, Lucifer was just thankful you weren't a compulsive snatcher when it came to taking up minor tasks such as delivering information or finishing your work.

Once, he overheard you exchanging small talk with the young lord's personal butler. Something about asking whether the human can drop by to taste test a human realm dish he's been prepping to which you enthusiastically agreed. This in of itself wasn't all too alarming, had it not been for the fact that you technically already allotted time to discuss your academic progress with him later on.

Then again it would've been after dinner, so he gave you the benefit of the doubt not for your sake but to personally see how far you'd go to appease both parties. He wasn't all that confused when your seat at the dinner table remained empty (hushing mammon's worries with a scolding). Everything went as per usual and soon enough he was at his study, finishing his paperwork accompanied by the faint scratches of his pen nib on paper when suddenly a knock sounded at his door.

There you were, carrying something on one hand and your RAD school binder in the other, he half expected you to actually forget or purposely head straight to your room knowing how draining it was to entertain barbatos' testing. And yet here you were handing him a small portion of the food they made with the butler, plopping on the seat in front of his desk and briskly opening your notebook.

"I didn't think I'd make it but, even then I'll still try to come knocking like every Friday." "And you're so sure I'd be awake still?" "Mhm!"

As much as he'd like to lecture you regarding sleep schedule (hypocritical from him) he felt at ease knowing that your virtue was something you stuck yourself with, regardless of the circumstances. They say that you can tell something about a person based on how they deal with major and minor matters. And that moment was what made him have a bit more faith in you subconsciously.

Luci has to wonder whether who was the true devotee between you two, but that's a question left to be entertained another day. Perhaps he'll give you one more test by handing mammon's ass over to you.

Mammon, is likely the one who needs someone like you the most among the seven brothers. Scam and Betrayal was something he's a bit too familiar with considering his sin and antics. That's not even counting the fact that you were human- unfortunately the primary source of his general distrust at a certain point in time.

He pin pointed your habit from a cruel joke, one he made mindlessly while the two of you walked down the halls of RAD classes over. It wasn't anything major (that's what he thought at least) but it was around the time he first became your pact mate. Thus he decided to attempt milking out what he can from the situation he binded himself in.

He joked about treating him to a cup of some infamous devildom beverage exclusively sold at a certain hour at Hell's Kitchen. He wasn't expecting you to say yes, to which mammon's voice cracked and waved it off with a sure why not you're his master anyways so you should treat him with the best.

What he wasn't counting on was your genuine grin, lucifer just recently issued you your weekly allowance and truth be told you're also dying to get a sip of that drink ever since Luke rambled to you about the flavor it left once you've had three gulps of it. And since mammon has been less troublesome lately you really did agree with his off thrown request.

This was likely why you were confused after lining up for an hour at Hell's kitchen, you abruptly left at past 6 ish then return barely missing dinner. You didn't mind since you also bought take out but what was more confusing was mammon's frantic figure running down the staircase after spotting you from the House of Lamentation's Veranda.

"OI WHERE HAVE YA BEEN HOW DARE YOU WORRY THE GR-" "I'm sorry the line was longer than I anticipated-" "What line?!?!"

You had to slowly recount your routine since he demanded an alibi. His face transitioned from antsy to surprised to crestfallen to subtle guilt and eventually coughing to put up a fragile prideful front (we shall dub this the 5 stages of mammon/J). He wasn't actually expecting you to take him seriously...to be fair in that household, who did? He was about to voice more of his dilemma but was halted by you tugging him to your room. Explaining that you guys eat your freshly bought goods there to avoid Beel's appetite targeting your dinner.

I'm not one to advocate the "fix" or "dependency" mentality but, this case was different in of itself. Because in this case Mammon will slowly learn from your dedication, learn that perhaps life does offer some sort of leisure outside of what money can buy.

He doesn't think much of your habit, rather he's more focused on the "why" aspect, did you pity him? Were you hoping for something in return? What would you even gain from him in the first place? You didn't look like someone who's a die hard franchise fanatic like him so his merchandise was out the question,,

Speaking of merchandise. Levi's source of irritation was once again mammon's refusal to pay him back the money he regrettably lent to him, now he can't go after the recently issued light novel about ruri-chan's companion. And now you were the one witnessing his loathing in the corridor to where you thought of it as a bad time to approach him regarding an assignment about Devildom marine life.

You could've gone for the library but who knows what books actually have the information you need, the avatar of wrath was also an option but you weren't sure if he'd even agree to help you (begging the question of what made Levi any different?). Even you weren't entirely sure but you really do wanted his help specifically.

Putting on your big kid boots you marched up to him RAD textbook under your arm, the boy was of course startled and was tempted to flee from the scene but was stopped by you blurting out a rather tempting offer.

He was genuinely surprised when you promised to get him the money he needed. His initial rejection was pretty valid, asking what could you possibly want in return- that was when you gingerly pointed to your textbook and explaining the assignment. Levi at his wit's end agreed on the assumption that you were talking about the money from mammon specifically. Oh how sorely mistaken he was

"W-woi how the hell is that scumbag waving around a new jacket when you just got my money back from him last ni-" "Did..he now..."

You can only contain his panic so much when you admitted that the money was straight out of your allowance. OK to be fair you didn't break your promise because you vowed to have his money ready that morning- never mentioning where it'd come from. And to be fair² you did try going up to mammon first but you forgot he gambles at night specifically rendering you unable to go confront him. Levi couldn't help but to feel a tad bit guilty but was more envious of your generosity if anything.

He did go after Mammon once you and him finished your Devildom Marine assignment, on you of that you found a ruri-chan themed snack sitting in your locker the next day along with a note of whether you'd like to go to an anime themed Cafe with his treat. Leviathan wasn't one to believe in anime tropes (whether they'd work irl) but he could only try. You were truly Henry even to your word.

The avatar of wrath held no patience for those who break their word, unlike the firstborn he wasn't inherently out to test you. But by the time the events at the castle retreat took place he did began to eye just how much you'd go to keep up your virtue.

He really, really needed to get that parcel from Akuzon. But as luck would have it Lucifer was due to come home the same hour his order was to arrive. He could always wait for it himself at the foyer but that would only endanger the secret contents to the first born's interrogation. And so Satan can only watch from his window and wait for it to arrive on its own, until he saw you enter the gate.

He didn't bother thinking it through, a bit too determined on prioritizing the box's secrecy when he texted you to wait for the box without question. The restlessness lacing his tone beyond the D.D.D's screen had you promising that you will get it and the avatar of pride won't get to the contents...whatever it was.

He was just relieved you agreed, then again he did assist in tipping you back then when you faced off Levi so he chalked it up to returning the favor in some sense. His train of thought paused when he saw the Akuzon service hand you the brown box, a silent victory cheer playing mentally but was unironically diminished when he saw a certain ravenette arrive just as the service left.

And so he watched the muffled questioning take place from his place at the window. You did stand your ground even when luci took a sharp step towards you as per his usual intimidation tactic. You even went as far as to step back and stride away with the excuse of "privacy". The demon of wrath briskly pulled you into his room the moment he felt your footsteps near.

"He didn't-" "he didn't yes but you did you- just come in..."

All that pressure you endured, soley because he ordered cat toys for the felines downtown. He was ready to hear your flurry of comments regarding the otherwise childish reason for talking back to the first born (as the avatar of wrath, he to would've felt unjustified if he was in your position as a human) but when he was met with amused laughter he did a double take. And again when you admitted you found his reason cute.

He may have been partially defensive whether his reason was cute or for you laughing at him but, this was one of those rate times a human such as yourself willingly lent him a hand. Not out of fear or intimidation but solely because you promised it to him over the call. And this was enough basis for him on how he sees your character in general...honorable with your word.

For his case, he's likely the most appreciative of how you handle your promises. He among the brothers has the most experience when it came to making vows (in or out the sheets). But words were made to be heard right? That's what he's been telling himself anyways, what felt right in the moment will stay in the moment.

Asmo in turn was admittedly the least consistent with his word but it never had any great impact on him!- hence why he was in a way taken in by how true you are to your flung words. He watches you sometimes running about to fulfill what you vowed to keep and to him it added to your charm! A white knight type of charm to be specific.

Thus he was also giddy to see how you'd go about with him, sure you were diligent but the avatar of lust saw it as a way to attract people. Hence him asking for you to go shopping with him on some devildom Sunday. Nothing major right? Besides you could use the rest-

But curse you for making him worry once you two were already out, he was so immersed with his self love rambling that he barely noticed your drowsy nodding, the nail in the coffin here was when he grabbed your arm and felt the unnaturally high warmth emitting from your skin. This wasn't anything as hot as the demon average but he knew for a fact that you weren't just blushing from his brilliance this was a genuine fever in the making.

"Darling I know I'm irresistible but you should've told me you were feeling unwell from the get go!- the stress lines I'm getting from you oh my-" "b-but...we already made plans and you seemed excited so..."

He feels loved with your excuse but this was not the time to ponder about affections when you were on the verge of passing out. A few painfully long minutes passed before the white haired Sorcerer arrived to escort you both at purgatory hall to pass the time.

Seeing you laying on their couch with a thermal blanket after the failed outing made it clear cut to Asmo that you do what you do because you want to. It ironically made him feel more humane...knowing that someone of your type was indiscriminate with your principle even to someone who abused hushed promises for his own leisure. From that point in he'll make an effort to make you feel as appreciated as he is, by keeping up with his own vows towards you (sheet or no sheet-)

Beel admires this aspect of yours, maybe not outright but he was definitely glad to know that despite your situation, you stay true to your own rule. Out of all the seven he's the one who finds it nice in the sense that, you retain your humanity through your words and actions. Something demons like him use in a vastly different way.

This was further proven to him when he remembered your first major promise to him and by extension to his family. Back then when he was looking at your expression it felt like he was back at the Celestial realm, surrounded by determined souls and not vying for the upper hand like the Devildom residents.

Back when you still had to sleep in his shared room, you two talked more regarding the house of lamentation's state. He felt hopeful with your words and he admired your vigor as both a house mate and an ally to your cause.

And when everything happened with jumping from door to door in Barbatos' chamber, he fully relished the extent of your will to finish something you vowed to keep. Most humans in your position would've gave in, at one point he may have even wished you gave up to save yourself the suffering that came with your path to achieve such goals.

After those events he keeps an eye on you, observing you at times when you're subconsciously pushing yourself to keep up that act of honor. As much as he admired it he did still wanted you to not ruin yourself in the process, otherwise who'd come and help assist in satisfying his ungodly cravings?/lh

"Y'know even athletes have to rest and slowly rekindle their body after a good game no matter how good they are." "I see.." "So let's go eat a big feast later, we've been working hard lately right?"

The we was mentioned so that you wouldn't be shadowed by some sort of guilt, if you were anything like him (which he observed to be true to some degree) you didn't like worrying others and he'd rather have you rest on your own accord rather than be tailed by misplaced woes.

From that point onwards he still retained his admiration towards your habit, a miniscule part of him hoped that it would keep you afloat and not further down within your current life.

Belphie is second to Mammon who needs someone like you the most, the avatar of sloth doesn't necessarily have a history of being on the receiving end of broken promises (shhh) but instead lacking promises made to him to begin with.

The very few he did receive had mostly ended in vain, so as such Belphie was not too excited the moment he did pick up your dedication. He may be the "weakest" but that didn't entail his knack for perception. Unfortunately one of the few timed he's had promises fulfilled were one's he specifically made for himself, because from what he thinks the only one who can truly help him is himself.

After the events of the reveal, his view on promises changed albeit not drastically- but he's getting there little by little! It starts with small minor baby steps. He may not need to listen to class (he can somehow still pick up the information regardless) but you still assured him that you'll wake him up once a change of classes will push you all to stand up.

The next step was when he was plagued with an influx of nightmares, at this point in time he tries to sleep it all away as per usual but the quality of sleep remained in dissatisfaction. When you came to bid him goodnight he didn't think his next action through- tugging your sleeve and murmuring for you to stay with him for the night.

It was childish, even he knew it, but with everything he's trying to do there's no harm in attempting this method, the problem of whether you'd agree was solved when you promised to stay by his side for as long as he needs. Silence befalls you two with him clutching your waist as opposed to his usual pillow. He honestly thought of you leaving once he's deep asleep seeing as he did Semi demanded you to stay without consideration for your end.

"M...morning..." "Good morning to" "Y..you're still...?"

His brothers may have learned of your antics through various incidents, but out of all them it's Belphie who learned of it in the most gradual manner. This in turn led him to deeply hold you in higher regard than he'd like to admit. You showed him that maybe just maybe, Lilith's old affection for your kind was truly justified.

He's at ease knowing you didn't abandon him that night, even if you did have every right to do so. Maybe it's also the instance that eased his subconscious terrors during his sleep. What he is sure of however, was that your words weigh more value than the ones he stubbornly fed himself all for the sake of desperate assurance.

May I ask you a question? I have read your Fandom PSA post and I really liked it since it said a lot of things I already do. However I would like to know your opinion about shipping IRL People. I generally don't care what other people ship etc. And I would never harrass them even if I don't agree with them. Regardless, shipping IRL people always leaves a bitter taste, because those are not some fictional characters, but real breathing people with relationships that we don't know of, who could be impacted by the story's fans write about them, especially if they are NSFW nature. What do you think about it?

Thank you for this ask. It’s a good question, and I know there has been a lot of heated discussion around the topic of Real Person Fiction (RPF). I understand why people have strong opinions about it, and I won’t blame anyone for being weirded out by it. ”Don’t like, don’t read” applies to RPF too, so anyone who is squicked by it should just avoid it.

I’d assume most of the real people who have inspired someone to write some smutty fiction of them would NOT want to read those stories. Some of them would probably be opposed to reading smutty fanfiction of their characters too, or seeing smutty fan art of their characters. Therefore, they should not seek it out.

There is nothing wrong with the concept of RPF, just like there is nothing wrong with the concept of fanfiction, fan art or other forms of transformative fiction. The problems start when someone disrespects the personal boundaries of either the celebrities or the fan creators. There have been many instances when fanfiction or fan art has been dragged to spotlight in late night talk shows etc., where the host has read / shown it to the actors to get a reaction out of them and gain some cheap laughs.

Very few fan creators actually want their smutty fics and art to be perceived by the celebrities that inspired them. Those works are not for them. They are for the fandom. When it comes to RPF, the writers most definitely do NOT want the real people to read those stories. Most RPF I’ve read has been published in a way that makes it pretty much impossible for anyone to read it by accident. I know this is probably not the case with all the RPF in the world, but personally I have’t seen anyone promote their RPF fics on social media in a way that would allow the real people in question to stumble upon them.

Then there’s the case of ”shipping IRL people,” which isn’t necessarily the same thing as RPF. I think it’s important to differentiate between the two.

There is a difference between a) writing fictional stories of something that inspired you and b) obsessing over celebrities’ actual relationships and actually thinking they are ”more than friends” or wishing they are or would be a couple.

We don’t actually ”know” celebrities as complete human beings. We are only shown a version of them that consists of the things they let us see or know. It’s sort of a facade, a role they play in public. It is THAT ”person” that gets shipped when people write RPF. Not the actual human being. It is possible to get an inspiration for RPF and still understand that the real people in the real world are just friends. Writing or reading RPF doesn’t mean you believe it to be true. It’s not Real Person Documentary.

Serious speculation about the nature of the relationship between celebrities, trying to snoop around to find ”proof”, asking them about it, harassing their actual spouses… These things cross boundaries. This is obsessing over what is happening in REALITY and trying to pry some private information. Speculations can turn into rumours if they get circulated for long enough. This sort of behaviour should not be tolerated. (Isn’t it funny that this is actually what tabloid magazines do all the time?)

There is also RPF happening all around us that we don’t even pay attention to, because it’s done commercially and not as a hobby. Saturday Night Live makes RPF. Our Flag Means Death is RPF, as is The Crown. South Park had a whole ”All characters and events in this show—even those based on real people—are entirely fictional. All celebrity voices are impersonated…..poorly” disclaimer. Real people feature in works of fiction over and over again, they do fictional things and they even get put into fictional sexy situations, and nobody bats an eye as long as it’s something that’s in a wide circulation where millions of people can see it.

TL;DR: RPF is just a genre of fiction, and it can’t affect anyone’s life or relationships just by existing. Respecting the personal boundaries of celebrities is important and (smutty) fanworks should not be deliberately shoved in their faces. Obsessing over celebrities’ relationships on a public platform, spreading speculations of them and sharing information of their private lives is shitty behaviour and should not be done.

I've just read through your FCG meta/response from yesterday and I love it. With regards to the popularity of Sam's characters (and I agree with a lot of what you said on why), how much of that do you think is connected to how shippable his characters are from a fandom POV? In campaign 1, Pikelan is so much less popular than the other 2 canon ships. In campaign 2, anything other than Veth/Yeza (almost no fandom engagement) is treated as a crackship (fjeth) or most people insist it's familial (widobrave). Then obviously there is very little shipping for FCG in general. Is it because he's a funnyman? Is it what you were talking about with flawed characters and how they wouldn't consistently serve a fave enough to be shipped with them? Is it just that he tends not to create conventionally attractive characters? I'd say the gulf in ship popularity for the canon ships of campaign 1 followed the lines of conventional attractiveness a little strictly for me to write it off as coincidence, even if there were other extending circumstances like Pike being away a lot of the time. And the fact that one of Sam's most popularly shipped characters (Loquatius) happens to be one of the more conventionally attractive ones. Although it's pretty clear from watching calamity that those two would've been a very popular couple regardless.

That became a vent but the main question is do you think that one feeds the other? Are Sam's characters less popular because they're less shippable by fandom standards? Or are they less shipped because they're less popular? Or do those two things feed one another? I'm sorry that was a lot thrown at you but since your recent analysis was so good that I was curious to hear your thoughts on this.

Okay, there's enough to unpack here that I could probably write a few essays in response, but I'm going to try to keep this as concise as I can, so I'll answer the TL;DR as best I can keeping the rest in mind. I do think the two things feed each other to some extent, though I find myself leaning toward thinking his characters are less popular because they're less shippable, and less shippable because of their unconventionality. This might be the cynic in me, but I've been in fandom long enough to know that shipping tends to be a huge motivator for folks, though I'm also sure the fact that Sam's characters tend to have BIG personalities affects if people want to engage with them or not as well.

Like, I have caught myself on many occasions considering how balls to the walls popular Widobrave would have been if Nott wasn't a goblin and therefore very unconventionally attractive (lots of monsterfuckers in the fandom do be fakes, as it turns out), or considering how Veth gets overlooked as a shipping option or even just as a character who is attractive because, well. She's short, she's fat, she's brown, she's loud, and she takes up space. Like, we all know that's the reason even if we don't say it out loud very often. It's why it's easier for people to relegate her as a wife and a mother, heavy emphasis on mother, and not have to engage much deeper with her character and complexities than that, and certainly not her shipping viability (hence the "Veth is Caleb's mom" thing that will never ever go away)

And with FCG, I have seen with my own eyes people say that he's not shippable because he's a robot. Like, I don't think it's a secret that a fair few folk think that way. I find it interesting that when Sam said on 4sd, "Fresh Cut Grass is desperate to do things like be able to taste, be able to smell, be able to feel love, the things that you all can do that I can't" I saw people say in response: "but he CAN feel love. The love of his friends," but I've also not seen a single interpretation that this may be a desire to feel love in a romantic sense on his part. Now, I'm not saying that's what Sam meant--it could be much more general than that, as FCG is still struggling with understanding their personhood and what it even means to feel love at all, platonic or otherwise--but the absence of the interpretation is not, uh, lost on me.

So, I suppose the point to make here is that a huge amount of fandom prioritizes shipping over just about anything else. Sam's characters rarely take the spotlight in shipping situations (though he does do a huge amount of delicious, subtle pining. it's his speciality), with the exception of Quay, who is probably his most conventionally attractive character apart from Tary, who didn't actively get a big romantic plot in VM the way Quay did in Calamity (he got the Sam Riegel classic--quiet pining). So if Sam comes out swinging with these non-traditionally attractive characters, as he basically always does, who tend to make a lot of jokes, because he's Sam, fandom seems to write them off as jokes and/or unattractive and not viable for shipping, therefore less interesting or having less worth engaging with entirely.

And here's the thing--it's not just Sam this is affecting right now, either! Look at Chetney. Chetney is the fucking spiritual successor of Veth Brenatto, like all croaky and horny and hilarious and A LOT. He's also old, which immediately took him out of the shipping pool for a lot of people, and it feeds into the way people think of him as just a joke. like "lmao look there's an OLD guy in the party this time, what a racket." Which is ridiculous, but definitely an opinion you're going to find floating around, both said and unsaid. And I think all you need to do is look at the stark absence of Chetney on AO3, the fact that there are all of 22 Fearne/Chetney fics (a ship that gets seriously played up in canon, just like Pikelan did during VM), and the absence of serious discussion about him to see a correlation between a character being traditionally shippable and one that the fandom deems worthwhile to talk about.

I mean, here's the thing--this is a limited discussion that I'm able to do right now. This could be an entire dissertation and there are complexities I'm not hitting on, I'm absolutely sure of it. But I would generally agree that the more unconventional a character is, particularly one who is unconventionally attractive, the less shippable fandom will view them and then they would be less popular in general, and I think that's something Sam runs aground of often, yeah. Like I said, I'm sure there are complexities I'm not hitting right now, but I do think, generally speaking, this is often true. Even though I think it's really unfortunate that fandom bends so heavily toward prioritizing shipping like that. But, like, they do

Long-form fiction is a completely different way of thinking about story from dialogue and character/camera cues. There's all that exposition and introspection, so fandom writers are way ahead of us :) Plus, there are other occupational hazards: I keep thinking, "We'll have to hire a snake handler/stunt specialist/intimacy coordinator," or "Do I really want to shoot where there are centipedes and scorpions?" and "What are the tax incentives of [insert state]?" Production costs and logistics are always at the back of my mind when I write.

MT doesn't want me to read her fic, but I did comment on one of her scenes, so my thoughts on that should be somewhere further back on the blog. I've read one story, which was beautifully evocative (and I'd love to see how that writer's skill set would translate to scriptwriting). There's definitely talent in the fandom regardless of what your day job entails :D

I just grope around in the dark until something takes shape :P I'm a decent plotter and that's pretty much all there is to my supposed superpower. (I need to visualize that one scene in my mind, which will set the tone for the project, before I can break a plot.) Finding time for extracurricular writing is the problem, but you could've already read something of mine and not noticed because it was unremarkable. Online comments on my work tend to run the full spectrum—you can't have an ego in this business or it'll be a one giant bruise lol

Makes sense you'd have to remember to take your production hat off. Occasionally I'll find myself wondering if something I write is going to clear, but for the most part it's the exposition, introspection, and oh god sensory detail I struggle with. While I do like some extra emotional language in my scripts if possible, I'm used to having to be concise, letting the scenes speak for themselves, and relying on others to help me fill in the details. I get overwhelmed at the prospect of having an unlimited amount of space to describe where someone is, what they're thinking, what they're hearing, tasting, smelling, etc. So yes, lots of respect for the amazing fic writers out there who have all of that down. I will probably stick to writing scenes from now on (you're allowed to read those lol). Unless I get an idea in my head that I can't fight no matter how hard I try. We all know how that goes.

Hear you on the time constraints for sure. It's also possible we've read something of yours, thought it was spectacular, and just don't know to connect it to you. I completely agree being a professional writer doesn't make someone more qualified to contribute to fandom. But I also like to think that most women don't get to your position without having a modicum of talent that can still translate to different mediums. Which is just to say, I'm confident there's room at the table for you among the greats. Including but not limited to @silversundown2 @waynedunlaptheorgandonor @spanishrose2002 @gunmetal-ring @lighteneverything @rubberchickeny, @sienna27, fairiesmasquerade (I still need to check out sienna's and fairies' work, but I take everyone's word for it), and if she doesn't mind, I'd also like to give a special shoutout to TheWrotetoFreedom on 9L. Friends, if you haven't read her stories, please do, especially if you're looking to fill the spinoff void. By the end, you'll be dying for more just like I am 0.o

I do agree that expressing the opinion that wishing Laudna would stay dead is neutral but I'm noticing that a few of these takes are coming from people who tend to not talk about her or enjoy her. And as an older person who's been around the block a few times, this is more than a bit irritating as it's a trend that's not uncommon in terms of fandoms preferring mlm and m/f shipping and male characters over female characters. It's something that should be thought about when discussing this.

I want you to understand that this message is very much typed through gritted teeth and that I have turned off anon again for the next while. I am not only more than done with the abuse from people who think that sadness over a fictional character death excuses their behavior; I am done with the people like you, who are wringing their hands and saying "well, there could be fault on both sides", particularly the ones who can't even say it with their whole chest.

I am a queer woman in her 30s. If you are younger than me, you are lecturing the wrong person about How It Used To Be. If you're older than me, you should, frankly, know better than to send something like this.

Here's what you haven't seen from me, and, while I don't know for sure, I suspect a lot of the other people with a significant following who have expressed an interest in Laudna staying dead (incidentally? most of whom are also queer women, because the tumblr fandom skews heavily in that direction): a shitload of anon hate that I, at least, have been IP blocking to great effect.

I've been on Tumblr for roughly a decade in various forms, I've had anon turned on the vast majority of the time, and I've been called a cunt on anon more times in the past four months than I have in that last near-decade, and exclusively in the context of people not liking what I said about Laudna or Imogen and Laudna. I have openly said I don't like FCG or Molly, I repeatedly said Molly should stay dead, and I in fact stated prior to this episode that regardless of my issues with the previous episode that I hoped at least one death (nonspecific, though, cards on the table, of the three who died, Fearne was my favorite), and I've never received anon harassment from the Molly or FCG fans.

I have literally gotten the argument that saying I preferred Fjord to Laudna was sexist. This is idiotic, and dangerously so; sexism is an institution, preferring one male character to one female character is nothing more than a personal preference, and hiding behind a shield of faux oppression because other people have different tastes is abhorrent.

I don't think going into anyone's personal feminist bonafides is going to be productive here, so I will also say that last campaign, I found that fans of Beau who did not ship her with Yasha were frequently vile towards Ashley; more recently, they were pretty awful towards Laura for having Imogen decide to be angry towards Laudna.

This is not coming from a place of feminism or a desire to see female characters or F/F ships. This is an unhinged refusal to accept that other people prefer other characters and actors. And, you know, for a time, I made the same excuses you did - that Keyleth and Marisha received immense volumes of hate in Campaign 1. Here's the thing: Campaign 1 ended five years ago, and even if it was still ongoing, nothing excuses the behavior I have seen very specifically and uniquely relating to a small subset of fans of Marisha's characters.

The kindest interpretation I can have from you is that you truly are only seeing a small portion of what has been going on, and in your deep ignorance thought you were providing a helpful perspective. However, regardless of intent, you were doing anything but.

I just saw someone post about how they are an "ex seb fan" and how Sebastian violated Pamela's privacy by watching her s3x tape (people on reddit were pretty mad about this too) and how she didn't agree to the show and him getting an Emmy nomination is not fair.

What do you think?

I personally feel like watching the s3x tape was a bit extreme but it was a public thing they didn't really need her permission to make the show but they still asked and if Sebastian hadn't done the show someone else would have, I know I sound like I'm making excuses but he doesn't seem like a bad person quite the opposite in fact he seems like a genuinely nice human being.

I couldn't care less about this if I am being 100% honest, but I'll humor you because I'm bored tonight lol.

Firstly, the most magnificent part about being a fan of someone is that you're not obligated to stay a fan. They do something you don't support or agree with and guess what? You can simply move on with your life and stop giving them your attention! Nobody cares! I don't get why people feel the need to announce it.

Personally, anyone who crucified Seb for P&T needs to get a better hobby than being chronically online, fighting asinine battles. Chances are no matter who played Tommy (or Pam, for that matter), they were going to see at least some part of the tape. Any decent actor is going to research as much of their role as they can so it was inevitable.

Granted I don't know the particulars of what Seb did to prepare, but I seriously doubt he sat around watching the sex scenes like they were porn and it's more likely he simply studied the scenes he'd be portraying. The tape had already been around for so long, I can't see how a couple more people watching it for research would make it much worse but that's just my opinion. Although I will say that comment he made in that one interview about watching it was gross and in poor taste, but we already got his ass for that and moved on.

As far as privacy, I agree that what happened with the tape back then was horribly invasive and I do feel bad for what they went through. However, based on what little I know about Pam & Tommy, my sympathy for them ends right there lmao. And unfortunately, regardless of their thoughts on the show being made...shit like that gets created about people all the time even if it's against their wishes.

TL;DR — Like you said, the show was getting made no matter what and I don't think Seb is wrong for participating in it. He said many times that they wanted to bring light to the stress and trauma they faced going through that and I think he did a good job portraying it. He simply played a character, that doesn't make him a shitty person but anyone who thinks so is more than welcome to see themselves out.

And another short ramble because it's 2 am anx I cannot seem to sleep

This time about Mute and Lion and the tl:dr is that they're pretty good friends, actually

No but Mute genuinely and truly likes Lion and it comes down to one very key aspect; neither of them really had a chance

Lion was a smart kid, but never enough; if he got full marks, his parents asked why he hadn't picked up an extracurricular. If he performed exactly to expectation his parents asked why he didn't excel beyond that, as if excellence was the bar.

Mute's parents did the same thing for different reasons. Mute never had the chance to be a rebellious teenager; it comes out in his tattoos, in his music choices, in the sarcastic and jaded behavior he shows.

So when Mute off handedly griped about wishing he could've gotten drunk or high at a party when he was in college - like so many others did - Lion offers to give him a safe space to do so. It's on impulse and Montagne gives him the most bewildered look, but Lion explains it quickly; anyone else who has experience with severe intoxication only did so while either undercover or in the job. Everyone else had decently stable and safe childhoods. He may not like it, but if Mute needs a safe space to actually process a lot of what he missed, Lion's the best option because he's been in that mindset before.

More importantly, he knows how to curb that mindset. He knows how to recognize the language of a bad trip, and he himself knows how to regulate now that he's older and a little less stupid. As much as Doc, Monty, and Thatcher didn't like it, Harry agreed that Lion was the best possible option if Mute really wanted to have those experiences. Of course, the question of former addiction came up, but Lion stood firm; he knows his limits better than anyone else.

Which is how they ended up on the balcony of Hereford, with Lion kind of sober and Mute trying to figure out how people drink alcohol when it tastes fucking gross. Talking about childhoods and how they ended up where they are, how fucked it is that they ended up the way they did.

It's how they end up on that balcony again, this time both a little high and Mute wondering why people like feeling this way while Lion tries and fails to explain that there's more than one type of marijuana because he ends up laughing every time he says "twoijuana" on accident. It's how they end up talking about religion and Lion admitting that he sometimes wonders how many of those who follow the faith only do so out of fear of punishment, but also that hes rather fond of the idea that every star in the sky was hung there by someone that might be just as fucked up as he is. It's how Lion learns that Mute is Hindi, but not in the way that one might think; he believes there is, mathematically, one or more entities that we would consider deities, but that they likely can't even perceive us. Discussing addiction and affection and the quiet worry that somewhere along the line the team is going to be pulled apart by powers far greater than them.

It's how they end up going to the balcony every Sunday after Lion's prayers, even long after Mute has worked out his impulses, to chat and catch up as friends. Talking about research opportunities and discussing each other's fields of study, acting as soundboards for each other. They end up encouraging each other to pursue the relationships they want.

There's a sort of healing on the balcony every Sunday. For Lion, it's seeing that he could actually change the course of someone else's impulsive self destruction and gain a friend in the process. For Mute, it's seeing that someone else really does get it, and gaining a friend somewhere in the middle of it.

Is there a character that the rest of your fandom adores that you just don’t like/are indifferent to? Who is the character and why?

I mean, there are certain story tropes in general I don't care for. Amnesia, body swaps, that whole misunderstanding thing they do in romantic comedies or just for cheap conflict, god i fucking hate that. Also, I think i'm an acquired taste, the way i like to write ships. I'm not a huge fan of constant conflict within a ship. Like, of course no relationship is perfect, but like constant turbulence is fucking exhausting to me. I'm boring. I just don't want my couples to kiss and fuck, I want them to be happy and supportive to each other. I would rather the angst be related to some kind of external conflict, not some insecurity within the relationship. That being said, I don't oppose to much, you know (aside from the really fucked up shit I prolly don't have to detail)? I'm just not likely to cater to that sort of thing without discussion. In other words, I think I prefer to find like minded individuals because I can be very eager to please and I often find myself in situations where I'm treated as a doormat lmao.

2.Okay, okay, okay, stick with me here. I like Frank Castle, okay? I like the idea of exploring such a damaged man, his trials and tribulations, his complicated relationships with other heroes. Love that shit. However, the fandom that rose up around him with season 2 of the Netflix series really pisses me off. I hate how it brings up the old "no-kill hypocricy" (and god forbid "well how does Matt know he's not killing people and isn't beating up people without fully understanding their personal history and working with cops is pretty shitty too? Yeah, I agree, it's...called nuance and the core internal conflict of most vigilante stories) discourse and the bloodthirsty nature of the way they talk about justice. I get it, I do, there's something cathartic about Frank's vengeance, yet i really wish they'd step back and think about what they're saying or at least be more honest about it. There's also something i find really irritating about the Kastle ship. I don't have a dog in the fight. i don't really care for Karedevil, either. But it 9/10 it turns into another reason to compare Frank and Matt, and much as I hate to say it, it also feels like they're using Karen as a mouthpiece, when the fact of the matter is Karen is a very messy character in Netflix's Daredevil. I could probably write an entire essay about her being the inversion of the femme fatale, but my point is, Karen is a good person with her heart generally in the right place, but she's also a recovering drug addict, dealing with the guilt over her brother's death, etc. She's no paragon of virtue, and her attraction to Frank, regardless of how you put it is related to her internalized identification of herself as a killer (yes, she really, actually is, given the whole Wesley ordeal, but her desperate violence in self-defense is quite different from Frank stalking, planning, and enacting explicit, targeted murder, but I digress). So yeah, it's complicated. I like Frank Castle, but I don't like the way fandom tends to interacts with him. It's like everyone becomes Garth Ennis, y'know?

The thing is, with every time Louis mentions Freddie in whatever context he draws attention to his son, publicly. And no matter what, it should be the first priority (for everyone involved in F‘s life actually) to protect him from the public and from obsessive fans and conspiracy theorists. He already is object of so much speculation and theories without being able to defend himself or speaking up about it. That’s also thanks to his family that apparently has no problem to keep posting content with him although that makes everything worse, at least on the Larry side of the fandom. So I don’t think it’s weird or suspicious that Louis avoids that topic for the most part bc he’s aware what that would cause in his fanbase (unfortunately). It makes things worse regardless of what he’d do or say. It’s the same with Larry. They used to bring it up a lot in the first few years and it only added fuel to the fire every time they denied it. They wanted to put Larry rumors to rest and the opposite happend, every single time.

So i guess, making statements or acknowledging the babygate conspiracy in any way would it only make bigger than it already is. I just dont understand why all the other family members keep posting pictures of F every now and then, like Lottie did the other day. If I was Louis I would try everything to keep my child out of the virtual world and social media, even if bbg didn’t exist. An underage child should be protected from online presence until it’s old enough. Especially if your dad is a worldwide known superstar. It bothers me that in this fandom most people seem to ignore the fact that this is about a real existing child that is absolutely powerless in all of that and that had been used for publicity, they were using him with these cringey strollings through LA. It’s fucked up regardless and the question of him being Louis kid or not shouldn’t matter so much in my opinion (it is his kid ffs!!). Things are fucked up, regardless.

I don’t want to mince words because Louis did respond to the bbg speculation on the Dan Wootton podcast. But he really only addressed the idea of F being plastic as ridiculous. He even said he wasn’t offended by the speculation, but he found it disrespectful to F.

I just want to explain why the privacy argument doesn’t cut it for me, since I get so many anons about it.

Even if we leave 2016 in the past, there was a noticeable decline in “lad and dad” content after Louis reunited with Eleanor and moved back to the UK. The pictures his sisters posted were recycled. A lot of Louis’ comments about F in interviews were pretty minimal (if not generic). He got F’s Halloween costume wrong (he thought the one from the previous year was the most recent). I don’t track his every move, but I don’t think he was visiting F particularly frequently during that period. People said Louis was opting for privacy. And me being charitable, I was willing to entertain that idea.

And then Louis noticeably starts interacting with F more after Michael Straus’ comments and right before he begins touring. The optics are really bad. For years, Louis’ sisters have posted pictures of F right before they have something to promote, or seemingly used him for clicks and engagement. Whether that was the intent or not, that’s what it looks like. The Clarks have made mistakes, too. But especially now, the pictures and videos they post of Freddie just seems like a family sharing their life on social media (as many people do, even if I think it’s a little irresponsible in this case). They are F’s primary caregivers, after all. And the timing of everything in this regard on the Tomlinsons’ end always leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I literally can’t bear to talk about this anymore, I don’t care if people agree with me or not. That’s how I see the situation. I have a very, very low tolerance for Louis’ weird behavior when it comes to Freddie.

June 12th, Sunday. 06.12. Good morning, ghost.

This will come as no surprise but I haven't slept yet. My routine is blending together, making every minute the same regardless if it's 3am or 5pm.

I tend to write pointlessly like this only when I'm about to either have an eureka moment or a complete mental breakdown, but this time it's none. I've been introspective, juggling so many characters that I'm probably unable to keep it up without telling it to someone. Now, who would be a better person spectral figure than you? You wouldn't judge me or anything, and if you do, I will judge you back. Maybe I'll burn some sage to terrorise you. Fuck around and find out.

Anyway, enough explaining what's obvious. Since this is not a diary entry, I'll just ramble about my chaotic love life today. I'll probably start just spitballing it in the future, perhaps I'll adopt the occasional diary style when I feel like I'm having an interesting day.

The Fele Debacle™

Sometimes I even forget about it but yes, I do have a partner. While he was once the exciting person sitting shotgun, now he's not even in the backseat. I think he's inside the trunk and I only remember him when he frantically knocks on the trunk door.

Well, that's probably why I don't think of him much. If he tried kicking the decklid off or something but no, he's chronically unable to be anything other than passive.

It's been a little over a year and I'm tired of this relationship. He's so repetitive, and maybe that can be blamed on his age? Maybe his job? But I didn't sign up for any of those things. I'm quite sure I wouldn't have agreed to get into a serious relationship if I knew that the only variety in our relationship would be in takeout choice.

That's not to say he's a bad dude to date. He's a catch, really. Independent, witty, funny, has good taste in media, very handsome (well, he was handsomererer before he gained his wee beer belly) and decently cultured. In fact, ghostie, were I not his girlfriend I'd put a good word in whenever my friends ask if I know a chill, single dude. But this is not for me. The dynamic he wants is not what I crave, not sure where it went wrong but I can't keep this for much longer.

You're probably rolling your ghost eyes right about now, thinking that this is a non-issue that can be solved by breaking up. And yeah, true. But for the past 2-3 months I did something I never did before and that was completely uncharacteristic - I tried :)

I saw the problems and I tried to talk them over, maybe compromise a little, which I never did in any relationship. Considering that I'm writing this now, it didn't work. And I will never do that again. It's a waste of time to fix base problems in relationships, and this time it wasn't different. My family and friends loved him so much, they didn't want me to be as quick to cut it as I always am, so I listened to them.

I don't regret anything, but yes, I will break things up soon, probably in my style modelled after you. I don't like giving people reasons why I want to leave their life so I often just break whatever ties we have and completely ghost them, not waiting for even a reply. Maybe it's time. Maybe today after he picks up his things.

Uh, here's a little thing about me: I'm a bad partner. I have cheated on most of my partners (except the ones I truly loved) and I tend to end relationships quicker than you can say bye. While I like Fele, I don't love him. I never got to that stage and, weirdly enough, I think I would have gotten to that if he didn't stagnate.

I haven't been faithful with him. I haven't fucked anyone else (pandemic worries almost over so it was pretty close) but that doesn't make it any better. Honestly, I don't feel the smallest amount of guilt, I don't even think about it at all.

It was all online shit which was a blast from the past. I haven't had to resort to LDRs or exchanging nudes for a long while. They were mostly dudes I knew already but kept a certain distance while the relationship with Fele was still enjoyable. Since I'm not dumb enough to tell my reply guys I'm dating I just had to make a stupid fucking excuse for my absence then get back to business.

Since I'm Histrionic™ and both these dudes and Fele were beaten cards, I had to find a new person to give my temporary histrionic adoration to and I found Adi. He lives in Buttfuck Europe and he's just doing it for me. Nothing sexual, we just have some big brain talks and he's kinda interesting. We'll see how that goes, maybe I end up seeing him? heheh

In conclusion

Perhaps this is hell and your spirit is being punished by having to forcefully read this pointless wall of text with some teenage-tier love drama. Perhaps I just need to sleep and I'll completely forget about my introspective writing or whatever the fuck. In any case, the conclusion is that I need to break up with Fele and I need to fix my sleep schedule.
