oh u already know what i’m gonna say. CHARMING SIBLINGS!!!! the books especially portray their dynamics so well. which is why i have a bone to pick with fics or interpretations where dexter or darling, specifically dexter, get rlly annoyed at their brother or daring is rlly condescending bc while dexter mayy be a little tired of being in his shadow they all still love each other!!! daring and dexter playfully wrestle, daring laughs as darling swings on his arm like a monkey bar, daring is proud of “dexter” suddenly improving in hero class and reassures him later that he knows this isn’t his thing but he isn’t going to hurt him while jousting…. i also find it entertaining to read about dexter and daring shooing off all of darling’s suitors, it’s nice to see how protective they r of her. and that one diary entry of darling remembering a memory of the three playing in the mud and then running away into the forest, making fun of their mother. it’s so cute . so good.

i reckon my love for this sibling dynamics and most sibling dynamics in media is bc of me being an only child and projecting bc i’ve always wanted siblings like this but anyways…..

So, I kinda think that Jikook are a thing. Just because there's sth different compared to other relationships in bangtan*.

But to kinda play devil's advocate: I think it's easy to read into stuff and skew the perspective. We as shippers might think that just cause Jikook sometimes do sth they don't with other members that it's a sign of sth romantic, but it could also just be that their friendship grew different from the others.

Them having insane chemistry and different ways of showing their platonic love doesn't make it romantic. We have no clue what actual romantic gestures Jimin or Jungkook would show towards their partners b/c their insane status forbids it. I'm not trying to pretend that there's nothing there like I'm some 20th century history dude pretending queer ppl don't exist, but that it's just not cut n dry.

Price and Soap have such a chokehold on me right now 😫😫 Like both of them are so hot but they would treat their s/o so differently (imo)

Soap would be so touchy and sweet. Whenever you’re together, he always needs to be touching you. Whether it’s a hand on your thigh while sitting with the rest of 141, or him laying his head in your lap while y’all watch a movie. I hc Soap at like early to mid 20’s. He has such a high sex drive. He’s always up to fuck when you’re alone. It’s basically like rabbit mating season if you’re both horny. He’s also just very needy. Maybe he wants you to ruin, at least, one of his holes, or he just wants his boyfriend to hold him after he comes back from a mission.

Price on the other hand, not the complete opposite, but different. Wyll gave away his life to a devil to save Baldur’s Gate. He did this for his people but most importantly, in his own eyes, to make his father proud. And Ulder cast him out. If making a pact with a devil earned this response, why would Wyll not be scared about LOOKING like one??

Not to mention, if you play his origin, mizora states to his face that the blade of frontiers is just a persona- she taunts him abt his need to be good - to have this perfect image, to manipulate him to do her bidding (killing Karlach). She knows just as much as he does that without the blade of frontiers, he’s nothing but that scared, exiled boy.

Wylls biggest fear is not being needed, because if he’s not needed, if he’s truly alone, then there’s no use for the Blade of Frontiers.

Once again, this guy likes to create chaos in his environment especially if he's bored or feels wronged

Hes not someone you want to make an enemy of, he's the type to tell all of your personal business and talk a lot of shit about his enemies/people that he feels betrayed by. He has a really childish way of reacting to betrayal, the type of guy that may leak information about a nemesis on like a private Instagram account.

He can be very petty and revengeful, the type to participate in tit for tat games with an enemy.

Ps. I keep referring to people he dislikes as intense things like enemy and nemesis, so Lee Know may hold onto strong feelings of disdain for ppl. He doesnt get over his hate for certain ppl and may go out of his way to show how much he despises his opposition

He has lazy tendencies, like not wanting to clean up after himself and he may be one of the members on the group that has to be constantly told to clean up better or to help contribute to the cleaning of the dorms(You guys know how easy it is to get into arguments about cleanliness and he may get into a lot of vocal fights about this issue)

He's quite an emotionally unstable person, he can randomly start crying about the smallest things or even have a cold, impassive emotional approach to things he maybe should feel more for

He also can be emotionally manipulative with ppl, using sadness and depression to make ppl pity him and want to help him

He can be a selfish and self centered guy, very possessive of his things as well and doesn't like to share. (Reminds me of a kid at a play date that makes a little girl cry because he snatched his toy out of her hand, like "this is mine, go get your own")

He has unresolved mommy issues that creates problems for him now and in the future

He can be a temperamental drunk, hes the type to get shit faced and start fights with ppl or be antagonistic

He doesnt care much about politics or world issues, not very up to date on things happening even in his own country

He can play mind games with lovers, making them think that hes looking to get married to them and settle down, but hes really is just looking for fun, temporary paradise. He may indulge in sex with many different ppl, I see foreigners as well, but once hes done then he moves on

He's a guy that's very intune with his dark side, dark thoughts so hes not afraid to face the deep, depressive side of life. Like, you can tell him about the most traumatic thing that's ever happened to you and he wouldn't be surprised, or like the type to walk on egg shells around you, he would be mature and deep with talking about these types of dark things. Won't shy away or feel burdened

Hes a really authentic guy, what you guys see on camera is the real Lee know, he may even be the type to lowkey tell fans when hes in a relationship. Like, if fans would ask him to marry them he would reply "that opportunity is taken" and say something sly of that sort "jokingly". And fans might use that as a shipping tool with another member, "of course he's talking about his husband Han" but in reality hes LITERALLY telling you guys hes taken.

I also see that, fans or just ppl in general try to take a lot of what lee know says as jokes (especially if it's too dark and doesn't fit the idol image they have for him) but he really means what he says. Let's just say, rarely anything said by him is just a joke so pay more attention to what he says bc theres truth in his words (That's probably why he rarely does solo vlives or they just dont last too long, company rather he doesnt speak too much truth)

Hes a very goal oriented guy, he knows where he wants to go/be in life and isnt letting anyone get in between him and his bag. He probably has plans for success whether or not hes in Stray kids

He may be a great cook or baker, he started like baking from a therapeutic sense, and now he may have a good relationship with food and a kitchen. I sense hes a better baker than anything, makes really good pastries

As a lover, hes spontaneous and wild. Hes definitely a good time and can feel compelled to get up to all kinds of crazy adventures with his lover. In committed relationships, he can provide stability and doesnt run away when things get hard. Also, hes a charming, chivalrous guy and gives his partner his full attention, may stare at them a lot but it's not too creepy, it generally makes his partners feel like hes into them.

First of all, we all have seen how he reacts and stuff with the thought of Cala Maria—it's absolutely adorable how he swoons and stuff just like that over you, before you two get together.

Before dating, he'll probably be a rambler and it would be a lot harder then his crush on Cala—seeing that you work in the same establishment, and with communication a lot for ur job requirements

I'd say you'd somewhat have the same vibe as Cala, like a mature, godly beautiful kind of thing? Does that make sense? Do ppl know what i'm talking abt 😭😭

But BOOM!! that was before you two were dating, and now that you are I wouldn't say a lot is different.

He'll definitely be a lot easier to talk to as time goes on, usually whenever he can— sitting at the bar and ranting about whatever is on his mind. Cuphead? The card tricks from King Dice? Some customers that were there not so long ago, that Mugman could barely bite his tongue at? At some point the conversation moves along or in a full circle, but trust there will be conversation about a new magic book he got his hands on or something at some point.

You're probably more of a listener and him being the yapper, in a situation where he can spurge all his thoughts out for you to here as your serving drunken customers or cleaning up the cups for the night.

And if it's in my more secluded area for the both of you, he may even get more personal like the details of his life with Elder Kettle—and how it was before the whole 'gamble and contact' situation, leading him to work for the Devil himself.

And everytime he gets reminded, he thinks of how your past must be like—especially with the chip in your upstanding ear and the little scar on your jaw. You basically cover your body from top to bottom otherwise, and he doesn't try to think too much about if you have any other scars underneath your clothes for obvious reasons.

There had been times where Mugman notices your feline tail, a part of him wanting to reach out and feeling the distressed fur but refuses to ever actually do it. He finds your cat features interesting, often when it's your turn to speak he'll take mental notes of the ways your ears twitch if Cuphead is talking in the background—arguing with another employee, or something along those lines.

But when you let him feel the fur of your tail, the first time he goes really silent and just seems to be analysising it, but only a moment before he perks up and begins speaking again—his touch still lingering on your tail.

Cuphead is forever teasing him of the both of you, but overall finds you alright to be around. You don't snitch on his harmless pranks, sometimes you even do pranks with him, and he appreciates the loyalty of keeping your word. You sometimes end up playing pool or a card game with Cuphead from time to time, which is alright if he wasn't so competitive, but funny to see him lose all his attempts against you. The difference between you two is that he's impulsive, while you're controlled on your gambling addiction.

Mugman always appreciates your words of comfort or reassurance, especially during a hard or overwhelming day. With your relationship with Cuphead, whenever he rants about him you drop little hints on both sides that's speeds up the process of whatever petty argument they're in currently.

But sometimes you are mysterious and sometimes unreadable to him, like when you two are alone you can be heartfelt and reassuring—but with those of your colleagues, like King Dice or the Devil, you can almost become withdrawn and only speak when you're spoken to.

It's difficult seeing the change, especially when you're so hard to read but when he brings it up—you don't have an explanation—but it gives him more insight on how to read you well, since he seems to be the only one that can really understand the small signals and ect.

Its a really sweet dynamic, I wouldn't say black cat x golden retriever, but I can say it's something along those lines.

And it's very different when the two of you are drunk, you both become lovedrunk and giddy fools—clinging onto eachother and following alone with Cupheads wild activities, that everyone eventually gets involved in willingly or not.

Overall, I say it would be a more talker x listener kind of thing, but the relationship would be based around pure communication—comfort used of both sides, and the two of you having an incredible understanding of eachother. Outside the Devils deals and Cupheads antics, there's a calm and true connection between you two that would be hard to be similar to anyone else's. There's a deep understanding for eachother, and a connection that makes you two seem almost made for eachother :3

This might come of as a weird question but I wanted to read people's thoughts on this. I've seen a couple of posts on ST subreddit about this topic, and many people were saying in those posts that it makes sense and is realistic for some of the characters to be 'homophobic' towards Will if he ever comes out to them. Maybe not outright calling him slurs Lonnie style but maybe being weirded out or just confused. What do you think about this argument?

They also mentioned that Robin didnt come out to anyone but Steve either, so they think Robin and Will's not coming out is another example of how the show plays into the 'homophobic 80's and people's reacting to the gays with disgust/confusion' thing. And some of them said that Mike and Hopper might be homophobic themselves, one comment I've seen about Mike is that Mike pushing Troy to the ground could have meant that Mike pushed him bc of ''Will isn't gay like that, never say something like that.'' mentality rather than it being about him pushing Troy because of his homophobia. I obviously disagree with that argument because it doesnt make much sense since we literally see the Party being there for Will despite Will getting called homophobic slurs throughout his life. And they never shown any other character weirded out or confused by a character possibly being gay with the exception of Steve, but even then that doesnt exactly count bc Steve was meant to be a villain and die in S1. They never intended to give him a good character or personality at that point. All of the characters who acted as homophobic get punished by the narrative and are always portrayed as bad guys (Lonnie, Steve in S1, Neil and kinda Jason with that weird religious speech he gave, Will's homophobic bullies from S1 etc). I cannot imagine the party or any main character acting weirded out or confused by Will being gay. If that happened, it doesnt make sense narratively and on top of that, it plays into Will's insecurities bc his biggest fear is being rejected for simply who he is. So I dont really vibe with this whole 'realism' aspect the ppl are coming up with honestly.

One thing I wasnt sure about was the reaction Hopper made in S1 when Joyce was talking about Will being gay/getting called slurs by Lonnie. He says something like 'Well, is he?' and it was kinda.... a weird comment to make i guess but idk, that could have been just him trying to understand the situation and actually get a confirmation or something since it would have been helpful for the investigation.

Anon!!! I am actually so excited to talk about this because I have many thoughts and I believe my thoughts to be extremely correct. Let's jump in!

Here's the reasons why I firmly believe the Duffers aren't going to make any of their main characters homophobic:

As you said, the narrative isn't kind to homophobic characters. It portrays them as one dimensional Bad Guys.

The Duffers have made other allowances. Here's the thing, in small town Indiana in the 80s, realistically, a lot more of the characters would have a problem with Max and Lucas's relationship. A lot more of the characters would have a problem with Lucas. We get only three outwardly homophobic characters (Lonnie, Troy, Neil) and we get only two outwardly racist characters (Billy and Troy). The Duffers didn't make all of their characters racist and homophobic for the sake of realism because the characters wouldn't be likable to the audience. (Unless they're conventionally attractive in which case it seems the fandom can excuse racism.)

As you said, it wouldn't make sense narratively to have Will accept himself only to have the other characters be homophobic toward him.

Now let's talk about Hop!!

Knowing whether Will is gay is very important to Hopper's investigation. I 100% believe that Hopper was asking for this reason, he was just asking in his own blunt Hoppery way. Joyce said Lonnie "thought Will was gay, called him a f*g." When Hopper asks, "Is he?" I firmly believe that he is asking, "Is he gay?" Not, "Is he a f*g?" Hopper is just... being Hopper. He doesn't usually treat things delicately.

I definitely don't think this scene was meant to be taken as Hopper being homophobic. I will die on this hill. Remember, all outwardly homophobic characters have not only been villainized, but they have been made very obviously homophobic. It's not subtle. The Duffers aren't looking to build a narrative of This character is a generally good and likable person, they're just also homophobic. We haven't seen that from them, and we aren't going to.

I am a Hopper stan first and a person second, but I do recognize his flaws. Being homophobic just isn't one of them.

I've been thinking... could it be that creators unintentionally created this sort of dynamic? I've read posts by some ppl who mentioned the SeanWhite thing already in episode 1 but I thought it could be because White isn't really a conflict type? That's why maybe he was so... pliant? whenever Sean touched him?

But then again apparently their relationship is that way in the original novel? Creators must have read it so it can't be a coincidence, right?

I don't understand this dynamic well but I like it and you don't really see it often? Which is such a shame because I find it to be sort of a representation too? I would say it's definitely, deliberately there.

I have not read the book. Let me be very clear about that. I have not read that. I have never read the books because I have very rarely found translations I can get through and I stopped looking a while back, honestly.

The creator definitely read the book and, honestly, I'd bet the Off and Gun also read the book. Hopefully? It'd really support how they're playing the characters into this dynamic (hats off to them on that!)

Now, part of it is White's pliancy when Sean grabs it but part of it is just his reaction to that grabbing. Most people would twist away or pull or jerk... White doesn't do that. White, if anything, relaxes the instant he's grabbed. He wants to be grabbed. He reacts with an instinctive yes to being grabbed by Sean.

This is most apparent in the scene in episode three where Sean grabs his wrist. Try to imagine someone grabbing you by the wrist and informing you they're not letting go. Are you just going to... let them? Or are you going to be tugging and pulling and wiggling to get out?

White gives a half-hearted tug, a few little wiggles, and then he relaxes. He literally relaxes as his arm is pinned to the bed. It's a very different reaction then you'd expect.

But it's also about Sean. Sean keeps grabbing White. He gets close to him. He stays close to him. He grabs him. There's no hesitation. But you'll notice that he doesn't really touch anyone else. You never seen Sean grab Yok or Gram or Gumpa. It's only White.

They're being given a specific dynamic and it's being played up and it's fantastic.

I hope they can keep it up.

When the X-K storyline began I pictured in my head this scene btw Lois and Clark where they compared not seeing this coming and not realizing how unhappy Jon was, to not realizing that Jordan had social anxiety and that his outburst were a result of that, not simple tantrums.

I have heard some ppl say that Clark is being harder on Jon than Jordan after the events of 1x06, bc he saw Jon being well adjusted, relatively responsible, mature and thoughtful teen that usually got along well with and respected Clark as a proof that he had done something right as a parent. Maybe Clark doesn't want to feel any more guilt about his parenting, so he places the anger on Jon.

This anger, combined the fact that Jon continues to cover for the dealer, despite being ordered repeatedly by his parents to tell them who it was, while Jordan, though (at least outwardly) unrepented about playing with glitchy powers, didn't continue lying, hiding or disobeying them after breaking Jon's arm and showing remorse for it. So in a way Jon (albeit for selfless, if not misguided reasons) continues to disobey them, strechting the situation out.

There is also the simple fact that the boys were fairly new to dealing with superpowers in 1x06, but Jon has had 15 years t ok learn that cheating is wrong and drugs are bad. But I feel like that reasoning goes only so far, since they had drilled it into Jordan that ppl could get hurt if he wasn't careful.

Then there is the other angle, that Clois' reaction to Jon's action in s2 is realistic and warranted (though they should also be concerned about WHY he did what he did, and try to help him), and they should have been angrier at Jordan. So the better questions is perhaps why they didn't come down harder on Jordan. Is it bc they thought the guilt of breaking his brother's arm was lesson/punishment enough? If so, why wasn't football season getting cancelled and parents not wanting Jon around their kids, not enough? Is it bc they could sort of relate to losing your temper and/ or wanting to punch a bully, but it is harder for them to grasp Jon's reasoning? Even so, there is the fact that Jordan played while his powers were unstable, which was dangerous and not something he did in the heat of the moments, unlike trying to punch Cutter. I get Lois comforting Jordan. When your kid is this upset about something, even if part of it is his own fault, it's only natural to try and comfort him. But at the same time, they did make it clear from the start that his powers were dangerous, so he shouldn't have had to learn this lesson the hard way, and therefore there should have been more anger involved too.

To be honest, I am not even sure if we are supposed to draw pararells btw how Clois reacted to Jordan's actions in 1x06 and Jon's x- k scandal, even though I do consider Jon taking X-K and Jordan's actions in 1x06 to be each brother's respective "BIG mistakeTM". Jordan's actions were a part of a single episode story, that focused on controlling one's anger, trust and the responsibilities that comes with power. It felt more like a single chapter in Jordan's s1 arc about dealing with his powers. The parental discipline wasn't important. The repercussions of his actions beyond that episode were mostly about Jon's feelings, not the consequences Jordan faced, and when it was, it was about the strain it put on his relationship with Jon, not his parents, or their reaction to his behaviour. Meanwhile, the X-K storyline is a crucial part of Jon's s2 arc, so the fallout is explored in greater detail.

I do think it would be interesting to bring these different reactions up though. If it was accidental on the writers' part, I hope the show at least mention something about in the passing, even if it just Clois saying they thought the boys had learned their lesson about messing around with powers and keeping secrets from their parents after the events of 1x06, and refusing to let Jon go of easy, since maybe if they had been harder on Jordan, then Jordan would have told them about Jon doing X-K right away, and Jon wouldn't have started doing it in the first place, or thought that covering up for a drug dealer selling a substance that gives ppl dangerous powers (and he doesn't know for certain is harmless to the users), is acceptable.

Fruits Basket Manga Review , ch 111

sigh~~~ I feel that my recent posts are a bit negative towards the anime, but thats cuz the chapters I’ve read so far are either unbelievably important character depth content cut for no valid reason or content in the anime but packed with million other things that it lost its purpose or importance. Basically tohu’s ep 6 which consists of 4 chapters & now ep 5 which is a momiji ep & yup, packed with 4 chapters as well... so, I apologize for any negativity, my intention is just analyzing artistic & story-telling aspects, I love se03, but yeah it screwed up lots of important characters due to its not so thorough plot decisions & harmful character insight choices.

today.. we explore Momiji... but only before his curse breaks.

Furuba anime struggling to know how to design an episode based on various plot-heavy chapters?

so, they decided 13 eps, & decided one ep for momiji cuz motoko’s graduation & the fanclub is the core of the furuba & have already cut tons of tohru, cuz who cares? she’s kind. be like her. end of lesson. No. really, jokes aside, how to do this?

How to combine several chapters in one ep? collect small snippets from chosen chapters/content like a bee does flowers? you gotta skip some content, you gotta highlight others. The ep is only 20 min after all & you got an op & Ed that you cant always skip.... so.. furuba team decide that momoji’s ep should be true to his zodiac animal, this is the rabbits last appearance in spirit. so, they went with quick hopping from one chapter to the other like a rabbit?

No really, ep 5 is really like a rabbit in its flow, you can’t savior a moment enough before jumping to the other: we learned momiji grew up!! loves toheu romantically, challenged kyo, really meant it, wanted a fair love game, got freed, lost tohru romantically & faced momiji! but that’s not all? we still have space!! quick add akito’s moodiness & love triangle with her dog & her submissive bed partner, add a happy comedy for no reason whatever & make shigue kiss tohru & wish shes 'was his lover instead!!!!!!!!! Mind you all this happened in the anime before shigure hurt tohru with his “the truth of the zodiacs talk & them accepting & feeling consolance that kyo is doomed”talk. 

-Gets whats my biggest surprise after reading this chapter ?????????

Shigure is consistent!! He isnt a rabbit hopping here & there. The dog is loyal & is tired for good reason! Him being depressed & his weird talk with thoru makes so much sense given the manga’s order.

Kyo is consistent!! In the anime, momiji surprise him with confession he loves tohru & challenge him, then kyo la~la~la~joins them downstairs for curry. Not a single expression on his face, where is the expression? it will appear when the plot is forced to address it: by the end of the ep when momiji face hin again. Then we get kyo’s reaction.

I need someone to tell the anime that actions require a reaction. You can refrain from showing a certain reaction if you can’t address it now, but you can’t erase it, negate it, then make it appear when have to!!!! couldn’t they make kyo refuse to join them & eat together? the     other characters wont be surprised they think he’s needlessly moody. The audience will know that kyo is troubled with momiji’s challenged & it will excite them!!! having kyo just go eat & watch the momiji/hiro/haru/yuki comedy skit is weird.

The manga’s author wanted kyo to join the dinner, like the anime did. but huge difference. the author actually cares for logic reaction & understands that the audience aren’t dumb little kids that will sit & wait for kyo’s turn to...react! nope! she did this: (a) & (b) below.

-Lost Small Bits/ Panels from the chapter.. But Sadly Big Huge Chunks for Characters buildup & Growth:

(a) addressed the fact the hiro noticed kyoru is in love & dressed that shigure was right!! the cat being in love is a weird concept to the zodiacs! hiro reacted naturally & the author used hiro to flesh yuki’s (the rat), momiji’s (the rabbit) & haru’s (the cow) decision to silently watch the kyo (the cat) makes his own decisions to live!!! They won’t interfere or tell akito or remind him of his state as the doomed caged cat. So sad this moment is cut from yuki. Why must yuki only interact with kyo to beat him (all seasons)? why must yuki only think of kyo to envy him (all seasons) ? Here, yuki’s growth towards kyo as a person & his relationship with tohru is 1000 times better than all tohru is my mom’s sh!t & I envy kyo’s Sh!t we saw in the anime over & over till we memorized it.

(b) kyo didnt just go la~la~eat with momiji after knowing he loves tohru. Nope, there’s small bits missing: called logical emotional reaction. He was surprised he’s caught pining over tohru! cuz yuki, the audience representative, has told us in the previous chapter that ppl in love dont notice anything around them. Kyo thinks him being cold hid his feelings. the dummy’s feelings are as bright as the sun in the Sahara, tohru too. a child read her! such small thing that wont take much space from the ep but was cut cuz kyo only needs to be responsive at the ep’s end. & this scene of kyo & tohru looking awkwardly at each other is minor in space but so important cuz kyo is determined to let go but his decision is challenged by not only momiji, but his natural attraction to tohru. Here he knows he’s caught & exposed... here he knows momiji is a better choice for tohru cuz he wont didn’t hurt her mom... here he knows that even yuki is better cuz never had to pretend to be cold to her... here he knows the world is better than him... & here he just cant help by smile & walks towards her... T_T ... another lesson in writing slow burns by Takaya-san.

-Why would the anime team pass on this?? drawing kyoru closer after the epic tear in Cinderella ep, cuz they want empty suspense~! The anime team thinks that if kyo & tohru stand next to each other, then it means all their issues are solved & the audience are so stupid as to forget tohru’s mom, kyo’s imprisonment, kyo not confessing his sins to tohru & tohru’s need to make a choice wether to fogive hom or not.. nope! you see, they think, ppl who read mangas are smart, so the author can give this epic symbolism & pp would still be not sure kyoru is end game & tohru will forgive him or kyo even fogive himself, but ppl who watch, oh no, gotta cut all the plot worthy content, produce a graduation song for a minor character, cut all kyo/tohru interaction cuz it only means romance & not at all character depth & oh if we show yuki actually formulating deep thoughts that aren’t centered around him, the audience might forget his se02 struggles! or that might ruin yuki’s upcoming growth moment in the finale where he .. you guessed it hits kyo.. as he always do & sulk &  think abt himself cuz yuki can only do monologues when he’s directly involved.... man~it is so sad how the anime is dumped down.. Who is the target audience again? not kids as young as hiro cuz even hiro is smart!

-just look:

 Momiji talks abt kyo shouldn't give up loving tohru & the authr shows this this ghost!!! his mom! The author reminds us that kyo isnt da~~~~ forgetting anything. He’s a deeply troubled soul & hos mom wants him locked cuz she too was locked in a cage & thinks that’s safer...why oh why you dump ur own story! sh!t~

Side Notes:

I like the closeups on Kisa’s face as she interacted with kyo. It’s very rare for kisa to have a world beside the endearing parental/big protective bro/big doting sister love she has with tohru & haru & off course the romantic love with hiro which was perhaps since their birth or sth. lol.  Kisa & kyo arent much on the brotherly side as they rarely interact, but its one of those  refreshing  interactions she has that helps cast a new light on her as tiny as it is,  but its sth out of the norm around her. She sees him  around tohru & gets to perceive his true unprovoked character. “He is  nice guy”.

I really wanted to punch kureno this chapter.. like Shigure is a jerk shitty dog for sleeping with akito’s mom but kureno... dude.. you submissively sleep with the guy’s eternal love interest & still walks in on him talking to her!!! lol. you’re mentally, emotionally & physically weaker than him & yet, she puts you on her bed, not him & you, tho not wanting her at all, dont walk away. No wonder shigure is defeated & wishing for someone like tohru, lol! Even if shigure met an older tohru-like person, it wont work. shigure deserve someone like him mean, schemer & loves playing power games. Tohru is someone who values honesty & commutation, not saying she’s an angel on earth, but tohru knows who suits her.. except fate is saying: NO. .... currently. lol.

I know kureno’s weakness is part of his character & I love that such characters exits. There are ppl ike that in real life. It’s just this chapter, I felt shigure’s frustration. XD

Yuki in this ep is the best yuki. no exaggeration here, I love when yuki is calmly thoughtful of others & here its kyo of all ppl !!!! cutting this scene is sad.. without it, kyo & yuki remain a cat & rat in the anime. Only ever thinking abt each other thro envious binoculars or hateful words or yuki giving kyo comedic hitting or life’s problem-solving hitting. Why can’t anime yuki be interactive outside his self-centered issues is beyond me.

Momiji & kyo’s interactions are always the best! whether comedy or drama.

I hated the curry cooking scene in the anime... so weirdly out of the ep’s flow.. very forced comedy... in the manga it had a purpose! not just quick add comedy cuz next shot momiji curse breaks & drama & we’ll close the ep with tears & sadness & glimpses of hope...

I love haru’s answer to hiro... so him.. “a guy can’t fall in love?”so chill.. so..simple.

actually while i’m thinking abt mbv (1981), here are some of my Thoughts and Opinions bc while it is one of my favorite movies, i Do have like two (2) major problems with it and one (1) Hot Take that theoretically addresses them both

(weird rambling under the cut, sorry this got longer than i expected)

okay so first off: the ending twist just…doesn’t work. it just Does Not work.

like axel only makes sense as the killer bc of his backstory, and the problem with that is that we only learn his backstory—and therefore, any reason we might have to suspect him as the killer bc horror movies Love to do the whole “trauma is a direct pipeline to becoming a serial killer” bullshit—AFTER we learn he’s the killer so it just feels tacked-on. and sure, you could argue that the love triangle was a factor as well, but the problem with THAT is that the movie doesn’t really touch on it after the Reveal, outside of like two (2) lines at the end, which would imply that, of the two, axel’s backstory was more relevant to his motive than the love triangle was.

and speaking of the love triangle, that brings me to my Second problem: the main character t.j. is like Actually the fucking worst. like the guy acts soooo creepily towards his ex-gf—says multiple times out-loud in public that he's gonna try and steal her back from her new bf, drags her away from her workplace (presumably during her shift) while refusing to listen to her as she says she doesn’t wanna go, just automatically assumes she wants to come back to him w/o letting her speak for herself, literally just will Not leave her the hell alone, acts guilt-trippy towards her as if HE wasn’t the one who fucked up their relationship, and generally just acts like he’s entitled to her as if she were his property.

the movie does at least (halfheartedly imo) call it out for the shitty behavior it is, which is better than most early 80s movies...but that only makes it all the more infuriating when t.j. ends up with sarah in the end. it’s justifying and romanticizing the notion of aggressively pursuing ppl who’ve already told you no (multiple times, at that). bc sometimes no actually means yes! /s

like yeah axel fuckin sucks too (see how he acts towards sarah during the party) but he at least seems ashamed abt it (see the scene shortly after where he bursts into tears) AND he also isn’t rewarded for his behavior at the end like t.j. is

so here’s my Official MBV Hot Take™️: t.j. would’ve worked better as the killer, whilst Still being the main protagonist.

for one thing, it would be an Actual twist (at least compared to your average slasher movie at the time and even now tbh) bc he’s been set up as the main character, but also wouldn’t be too out of nowhere bc 1.) this movie is structured in such a way that it focuses on t.j. enough to consider him the main character, but it doesn’t follow his every move, 2.) his uh. lowkey concerning tendency to react overly aggressively or even violently when things don’t go his way (dude started a fistfight IN A MINE), and 3.) his creepy ass stalker behavior towards sarah.

hell, there’s your motive right there: he wants sarah back, so he commits this harry warden-esque murder spree—making the valentine’s day party itself a red herring—in order to kill off axel and get away with it, allowing him to win sarah back by comforting her after the fact, which would play into the love aspect of valentine’s day.

(okay, it’s more entitlement than love, but you get what i mean)

it would Also be kind of an interesting contrast to harry’s spree imo? bc harry’s Whole Thing is that he killed these two ppl who not only genuinely wronged him/ruined his life, not only Also got most of his coworkers (who were probably also his friends) killed, but seemingly got away with it both legally and socially to the point where they felt comfortable enough to go to the valentine’s dance the very next year. but he also confined it to Only those two ppl, and that’s it (which is a part of why i hate the remake so much but that’s a whole different discussion). he didn’t go after anyone who wasn’t directly involved in the cave-in. so there’s this morally gray aspect to it all where the murders still aren’t justified, but harry’s a victim as well and it’s very understandable where he’s coming from.

but with t.j., it would be him being fully willing to kill most of his friend group—people he’s probably known his entire life, people who have done nothing to him that would warrant this—and intentionally ripping open this old wound in valentine bluffs that was finally beginning to heal, all bc his ex won’t leave her boyfriend and get back together with him.

well, it’s not the Only reason—he’s been angry towards this whole town for a While now, he’s pissed abt having to come back with nothing to show for it, he’s pissed to be back in that fucking mine again, he’s pissed at his dad, and he’s especially pissed that everyone and everything seemed to move on just fine without him—but it is the straw that broke the camel’s back, just one more reminder of how much of a failure he feels like he is.

and since he doesn’t wanna accept that other ppl (especially sarah) have lives outside of him and can’t just put everything on hold for him, nor does he want to actually work on these feelings of failure (bc that would mean having to admit that a lot of his problems are his own fault and he’s not the victim here), he decides to “fix” things by removing axel from the equation and let out some of the anger he holds towards valentine bluffs in the process.

it’s deciding to take matters into your own hands but for two very different reasons: trauma and a need to correct an injustice driving someone to do something drastic vs. entitlement, an unwillingness to accept fault, and a deep-seated rage towards Everyone And Everything in valentine bluffs finally coming to a head. a victim vs. a victim complex.

also.....there’s something abt the dramatic irony of the mayor’s son of all ppl taking harry warden’s place as valentine bluffs’ town boogeyman, all while being 10x worse than harry warden ever was, that just Feels Right in a narrative sense.

but maybe that’s just me.

Tell me your thoughts about dib!

OHHH ANON THIS IS SUCH A LOADED QUESTION,,,,

OKAY WELL WHERE DO I BEGIN…hm…well recently i’ve been kinda thinking about how dib is so easy to shove in either direction of “normal but a lil feral/fucked up/mentally ill” or “literally a serial killer” with like, a nudge. (more below the cut also i start rambling about murder boys towards the end i am so sorry)

i tend to see a lot of ppl lean more towards the “a little feral but generally not a horrible person” because duh, of course. he is one of the main characters and if you project onto him you’re not gonna make him an insufferable asshole but also…GOD ITS SO FUN MAKING HIM A BASTARD!! BECAUSE HE IS!!

literally 9/10 times, DIB is the one antagonizing zim. DIB is causing problems on purpose, zim is simply reacting to them, and then dib takes that as a threat back and the nauseating cycle continues ad infinum. dibs a fucking bully and honestly a pretty big asshole and i think that is a criminally underutilized portion of his character. hes pretty much powerless in canon, the world around him sucks and everyone deems him as insane, stupid, or annoying. of COURSE he’s gonna bully the fuck out of zim! he’s finally above someone on the social ladder! obviously he’s like 12 in the show and the person you are when you’re 12 is (thankfully) not the person you are forever, but it does give us a fun base to play with. nudge him towards a nice little found family/healthy relationship/kindness? boom. you get mildly well adjusted dib who takes his medicine and showers as often as he can. nudge him a little in the other direction?? yeaaaaa babey make him snap and kill someone i know he wants to !!!! just give him a tipping point and a knife and let him do his thing. i’m sure it won’t be illegal /s >:) there are so many things that could break the camels back when it comes to dib you could just grab one and run with it. maybe his dad says something that pushes his buttons a little too hard. maybe he does something more drastic. maybe zim actually pushes the game too hard and gets himself killed bc dib gets too excited. maybe it’s for no reason. you decide !!

so yeah i just love the way u can make dib babey or bastard and both seem pretty in character. off the rails bastard dib has been on my brain lately tho fjsjfjskf. the way that i’ve been (hopefully!) writing him in murder boys reflects that bc i love making him super annoying and mean! since he’s like, 22? in murder boys he’s doing it with more self awareness, cause he knows he’s a bastard and is kind of just watching dipper squirm under his thumb for entertainment (at least towards the start of the story). if i were to sum up his character for the au in one screenshot it would be this:

Hiiii, you’re like, one of my favorite writers on here! You kinda also inspired me to write my own stuff and allow myself to post it and be proud of it! even if I kinda suck

Anyway~

My favorite thing you’ve written so far is the sensory overload thingy and I was wondering if you’d ever write a part two, or a neurodivergent reader in general? Possibly having a stressed out moment, or how billy and stu would react to y/n during more noticeable stims. Whatever you wanna do :) I just really really love how you wrote them to be so caring, especially during something that can be really scary

So I wasn’t entirely sure what to write here but I this is what I ended up with, assuming this is earlier in the relationship and the first time they deal with Y/N having happy stims and very noticeable happy stims also just some cute Billy x reader centric stuff towards the beginnings

Warnings: mentions of stimming (obviously), mentions of food and forgetting to eat due to hyper focusing (maybe that’s a more me thing but I think a lot of us do that) and bad writing (also one slight nsfw line in the authors note at the end)

“Hey babylove,” you heard as Billy walked through the door of your apartment, the nickname was new, something he had randomly started calling you after you had began the relationship. He walked behind you pressing a kiss to the back of your head before flopping down next to you on the couch.

“Hey Billy,” you hardly look up from the book your reading to greet him, to infused in the action to notice his slight pout, however you did curl into his chest after a moment enjoying the silence.

Eventually after a few hours of reading you zone back in enough to hear that Billy had (at some point) turned on a horror movie. Looking up from you book you peered around the room, “Is Stu here?” you asked not hearing any sign of him despite him having informed you this morning he’d be coming over.

“Nah he said he had something he needed to do I think he mentioned something about how it’s probably be kinda late before he got back,” he answered eyes trained to the screen where Glen’s death scene was playing out, you watch the smile creep over your lovers lips before he laughed at how the blood shot everywhere in the scene, you smiled slightly kissing his cheek before closing the book and setting it down finally.

“Do you want to order out for dinner? I do not feel like cooking, and I don’t think I’ve ate since breakfast,” without actually waiting for an answer you began to shift through the pile of take out menus St had allowed to cultivate on your coffee table (not that you had bothered putting them up either).

“Y/N you have to eat babe, I know you said you get kinda hyper focused or whatever but you can’t go all day without eating,” Billy began to lecture you, but instead of fighting you sighed continued to shift though the menus.

“Well I’m eating now. What do you want?” You hand him a menu from Stu and yours favourite place, and with a deep sigh Billy took the menu.

“I’m getting a number 7, you want your usual right?” He asked after a moment and you nod. “Okay can you hand me the phone, I’ll call it in for us,” and soon the two of you where watching the film again while waiting for the food.

“Want to watch Freddy’s Revenge while we eat?” You asked once the end credits began to roll.

“I love you,” Billy said in lieu of an actual answer but you got up to put it on anyway. As soon as it started however food was there, you the two of you left Stu’s meal on the coffee table as you waited for him, munching happily as your gaze was fixed on the film.

By the time the credits are rolling you’re half asleep on Billy’s chest, falling farther and farther as his fingers trace patterns lazily across your arm, and then finally the door is opening to reveal a smiling Stu.

He runs into the room with a giant grin taking over his face “Y/N you won’t believe it!” He says practically bouncing as Billy and you share a tired look.

“What won’t I believe baby?” You ask as he pulls out a copy of your favourite book, and a stack of papers, handing them to you.

Upon turning over the papers you see art work of the characters from the book, signed at the bottom by the author, you hands begin to shake widely at the intricate details, and you look at the book, a little worn with love and open it to see the authors signature big and bold on the first page. You begin to rock back and forth a smiling taking over your face as you stim trying to get the excitement out. Billy sits up alert behind you and Stu drops to his knees in front of you both looking concerned. Neither had seen you so like stim quite like this before, both thinking it was something that only happened when you where sad or angry or over stimulated.

“I’m so sorry I thought you’d like it, Y/N,” Stu said

“Y/N baby what wrong,” Billy ask placing a gentle hand on your back to calm you.

As calmly as you could with the overwhelming excitement rushing through your body aside to hug Stu hard still moving the rocking and began chanting a chorus of thank yous. You kiss his cheek before bouncing “I love it, I love it, I love you,” you say giving him another kiss, “thank you so much,” and Stu and Billy both breath out a sigh of relief, as they realise you’re happy.

You laugh loudly still moving as you try to get the energy out, “You’re the best,” you yell hugging him again.

In other words this really sucked, and let’s assume you gave him something that involves sucking once you finally calmed down, I wanted to write something involving happy stims, because a lot of time people don’t mention those in fanfics but turns out I had a really hard time explaining it in action without stating what stims Y/N is doing because I mean I don’t know I didn’t want to write how I stim and not have it be relatable or whatever. I’m sorry it’s not the best love, but I hope you still like it... also I don’t know why I wrote the whole thing with you and Billy to be honest but I figured that’s a mostly relatable thing for me and other neurodivergent ppl and that it was kinda cute I’m sorry

i'm thinking about writing a leah fic!! do u have any advice on how to get into her character??

omg and ty for asking!! some of this advice isn’t super specific to leah bc my process is essentially the same for developing any other character smeyer gave 2 lines and threw away lol but here goes:

before nyctophobia I hadn’t written a leah this (relatively) close to canon in a long time, so I checked out every line of dialogue she had in the books to get a better sense of how she expresses herself

I literally just pulled the books up online and ctrl+f searched “Leah.” this was to get into things like her tone and attitude and choice of cuss words and general “leahisms” as I call them. just little stuff like this helped me plant the seeds of what would eventually become her voice in my story

if you loved julia’s performance and the leah in your fic is played by julia, rewatching her movie scenes can help you better visualize her expressions and movements to include them in your fic. her lines in the movies can help w her voice in your fic as well!!!

write her like how would imagine her in the situations you’re presenting and make sure it’s appropriate to the situation. ik this sounds obvious but if you try to stick 100% to what smeyer gave us, it’s going to be really frustrating and difficult to write her

give her emotional range. have her react realistically. if you’re going with the more canon-compliant route, she doesn’t necessarily have to be at eclipse/breaking dawn levels of angry-at-the-world if the situation predates sam imprinting on emily or harry dying. it’s not realistic for a character to just be pissed off all the time without a valid reason imo. like yeah some ppl are just that mad all the time ig but emotional range is a must in the main character of a fic. the story falls flat without it

like with any underdeveloped character written by smeyer, you’ll want to establish the relationships between leah and those who are close to her because this has a direct impact on her as a person

her dynamic w sam is a given if you’re including him but regardless, give her a friend or a few. hone in on her dynamics w her parents and seth as any character’s upbringing/home life is vital to them as a person, especially if the character is still a teen/young adult

your own creativity and experiences are gonna have to do the heavy lifting here ofc. like for example, I too live in a 4 person household where I’m the eldest daughter, my dad has heart issues, my mom takes very little shit and works in healthcare, and I have a younger brother who I try to protect despite him being annoyingly naïve, so the clearwater family was easy to model after my own in some ways. leah’s friends are loosely inspired by some of the girlies from various teen media as well as my own friends. the early stages of her relationship w sam were inspired by josh and mindy from drake & josh. it doesn’t matter where the inspiration comes from as long as the development of those relationships are there

ig what I’m trying to say is that leah’s relationships and experiences have value and they need to have an effect on own values, morals, desires, aspirations, etc. at the end of the day

last but not least, please don’t write her as bella but brown. that’s boring and uninspired and unrealistic. I’ve seen this a thousand times and it pisses me off. canon bella is the way she is bc her mom didn’t care to be a good mom, her dad attempted to connect w her but it resulted in little success, and she didn’t even have a close friend or a sibling to keep her in check prior to meeting the cullens

I’m not saying you have to go the canon-compliant route w leah bc you obviously can do whatever you want, but from what we know of canon, sue cut her hair in solidarity with leah phasing, harry seemed present and caring, seth constantly questioned leah like any sibling would, and leah had at least one confidant in emily before that shit went way left. those details don’t warrant a bella type of personality imo so leah should not be just like bella

leah doesn’t have to be a quiet mousy bookworm to be liked or related to. that shit’s dated anyway. leah can be messy or quick to jump to conclusions or cocky or funny or anxious or whatever, but the situation should warrant the reaction, above all. we’ll love her anyway
