billy who rents cruising (1980) from family video, mostly to wind steve up, but steve just glances at the cover and is like oh .. pacino? is it like scarface? and billy starts grinning and is all wanna see for yourself, harrington? think you’re man enough?

that one post thats going around thats like “What hobbies do you have that ARENT related to media consumption!” and everyone’s replies are like “i love writing and creating art!” because those things are completely separated from the media you consume im sure. it just so happens that youve had the most original idea ever that wasnt influenced by the media you consume at all in the slightest. god whispered the idea into your ear in a dream
its actually insane to me how much symbolism there is in the shape of water. i genuinely believe u could spend months talking about it and never run out of things to analyze. the car, the candy, the painkillers, the eggs, the fingers, the paintings, the smoking, the green/red jello, the pie, the fish man itself, the music, the calendar cards, the 'american dream' of it all. its just *_*
i FUCKING hate that i can't look up basic information anymore because all I get is generative articles that either a. are so poorly written that it was clear the prompt included a "pad for read-time" line or b. are just misinformation pulled from bad sources cause bad data equals bad results and algorithms can't tell the difference. OR fuck it more likely both. this generative shit has poisoned the well on basic facts like "what was the budget for this movie". can't imagine how bad it is if you are trying to do more complicated research.
hey everyone, new account, new me! inspired by the fnaf movie (have some ideas in the works) but I also just want to write more in general so if you have any requests, don't hesitate to let me know! some of my current/past hyperfixations and special interests are included in the tags!
Every time I get into/exposed to a new media and it uses the outdated terms "Split Personality Disorder" or "Multiple Personality Disorder" instead of Dissociative Identity Disorder I cringe and feel like 5 years got deducted from my life span. Bonus points and 5 extra years if they use it in a negative light which THEY ALWAYS DO FOR SOME REASON.
It's 2024, can we PLEASE stop portraying DID as a "scary disorder that makes people evil and kill" plot. As someone who is diagnosed and has been diagnosed for 2 years, it's irritating. This disorder is already stigmatized enough thanks to Hollywood's portrayal of it. Because of this I refrain from telling family members and irl friends about this having this disorder because I don't know how they'll react. Dealing with this disorder is hell enough but the stigma around this disorder makes having it worse. I desperately wish people would stop using it as a tool to make the bad guy in your story more scary. And the same can go for any stigmatized disorder like Schizophrenia, Bipolar, Cluster B disorders, etc. It's so tiring.
The Amazing Maurice was a fun movie and I enjoyed it!
Those who made it obviously love and respect Discworld and Terry Pratchett very much. It was full of fun little Easter eggs, including a marble bust of Sir Terry himself in the mayor’s office.
However at its heart it is a kids movie. I would even use the words family friendly. They gave it fairytale vibes, more than I remember the book having (at least until the very end). There was even a cottage in the woods with a child eater inside. And they took the fear out of the story, the panic, the darkness. It was lighter, and in my opinion forced some of the comedy that Terry Pratchett made flow so easily.
Simply put it was entertaining and kept the story from the book (even if it missed the heart). I would watch it again but not in theaters.
