Since your chat settings prevent me from responding to you, I'm going to do it publicly. Because I can and I choose to.

Right off the bat, let's get this out of the way: the word is "your."

I find this attitude fascinating. Don't misunderstand, it doesn't reflect on me, it reflects on the smoothbrains spewing Ad Hominems.

But let's do a little analysis on the topics of my non-"anti-religion" posts, shall we?

I post about opposing medical mutilation of kids who are overwhelmingly gay, autistic, traumatized or just gender non-conforming. -- Are you saying that accurately diagnosing autism and trauma, letting gay kids be gay, not giving kids pornography in schools, and not cutting the breasts of tomboys or the testicles off femme boys is "MAGA"?

I post about the low quality evidence in so-called "gender affirming care," as demonstrated by the reviews in multiple European countries. -- Are you saying that a dogged commitment to science and evidence is "MAGA"?

I post about how, while gender dysphoria is a demonstrable medical condition, "gender identity" even conceptually is based on stereotypes, contradictory and self-refuting (if it's a "social construct," your "gender identity" would be different in a different society), and a "gender identity" that is untethered from all biology is ultimately indistinguishable from the Xian notion of a "soul" that is untethered from all biology. -- Are you saying that skepticism of things that can't be shown to be real is "MAGA"?

I post about Claudine Gay being protected from criticism for her skin color, despite demonstrated career-long plagiarism, overseeing the steadfast suppression of free speech (as shown by FIRE's rankings where Harvard got a zero) and imposition of a specific postmodern orthodoxy, and her hypocrisy over her retreat regarding antisemitism at Harvard to the same "free speech" she systematically suppressed. -- Are you saying that consistent expectations, consistent standards, is "MAGA"?

I post about racial discrimination in STEM programs which disproportionately disadvantages Asian kids. -- Are you saying that opposition to racial discrimination is "MAGA"?

I post about male suicides, male victims of domestic violence, male victims of sexual assault, male victims of false accusations, and the statistics surrounding them that don't get the attention they need. -- Are you saying that equality and recognising statistics and evidence to inform reality and public policy is "MAGA"?

I post about how authoritarianism, narcissistic personality disorder, controlling others and even mistreating others are reliably the motivations for activists who don't have a pro-social motivation. -- Are you saying that not submitting to or giving power to those with malevolent, narcissistic and psychopathic intent is "MAGA"?

I post about how Kendi and Gay promote a victimhood and defeatist mindset in black Americans based on a grand conspiracy theory, one which perpetuates problems in society, solves nothing and only serves to inflate the standing and bank balances of elites who don't understand the actual problems or causes (e.g. crime, fatherlessness, literacy), don't care to, and will call you names if you try to. -- Are you saying that responsibility, empowerment, and the rejection of "god did it" faux-answers is "MAGA"?

I post about how nuts it is for western college students and even LGBT people to support a terrorist organization that has the explicitly stated goal of conquering the world and forcing everyone to adopt Islam, who would be thrown off the nearest roof if they ever actually stepped foot on their territory, while excoriating and chanting for the destruction of the only country in the region with the same values as they pretend to hold. -- Are you saying that not supporting religious fundamentalist terrorists and not endorsing a global jihad is "MAGA"?

I post about MLK Jr's speech-writer being frustrated at King's message being lost, with people pretending that nothing has gotten better, and with current-day messaging that society is irredeemably damaged (sinful) and preaching a form of nihilism that the same results that they use to justify their ideology in the first place (self-fulfilling). -- Are you saying that black empowerment and personal excellence is "MAGA"?

And the one I strongly suspect instigated this in the first place, but I wasn't about to let you get away that easily... I post about Chris Rufo working to reinstate merit, color blind policy ("the content of their character"), outlaw racial discrimination, rejection of both left-wing and right-wing identarianism, and refocus institutions back to their original mission, which is inquiry, knowledge production and the pursuit of truth, and away from their current obsession with producing nothing but grievance-motivated identity politics bullshit and fragile, mentally ill activists. -- Are you saying that merit, colorblindness, rejection of racial discrimination and the pursuit of objective truth are "MAGA"?

You may wonder why I read, share and endorse a post from a conservative. Aside from this being literally the Genetic Fallacy, I have a much better question: why do I have to? Why do I have to go to a conservative like Chris Rufo to see a commitment to objective reality, non-discrimination, freedom of speech, academic integrity, institutional neutrality and, you know, stuff like adhering to the U.S. Constitution and the Fourteenth Amendment in higher education institutions? And why am I not seeing it from cheerleaders and publications from "the left"; the once, but possibly no longer, "trust the science" side?

I would probably disagree with Mr. Rufo on a number of topics, but I don't care. What I know is that while he's a conservative, he's a liberal conservative. Yes, that's a thing - "liberal" as a synonym for "left-wing" is an American oddity.

Liberalism is a political and moral philosophy based on the rights of the individual, liberty, consent of the governed, political equality, right to private property and equality before the law. Liberals espouse various and often mutually warring views depending on their understanding of these principles but generally support private property, market economies, individual rights (including civil rights and human rights), liberal democracy, secularism, rule of law, economic and political freedom, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, and freedom of religion, constitutional government and privacy rights.

Liberalism doesn't prescribe "progressivism" or "conservatism," much less that you are one thing all the time, rather than being generally "progressive" or "conservative" on an issue-by-issue basis.

Which is how I find myself often having more in common, generally, with Mr. Rufo than with liars, frauds and con artists such as Kendi, Gay, DiAngelo, Turban, Montgomerie and their ilk. Because while we might disagree on how to do liberalism, we at least agree on its shared values as a starting point. Liberal progressives and liberal conservatives can actually communicate and work together. Illiberal fantasists, grifters and authoritarians - on both sides - are irrational zealots.

I'll pick a conservative liberal over a radical, social constructivist, relativist, illiberal windbag every. single. time. Without any guilt. Because I'm not a tribalist. I think for myself, and I don't just "go along" in order to obtain and keep the tribe's approval, or out of fear of tribal retribution if I don't signal the acceptable ways. For I am not a sheep.

During the nonsense that was the 2+2=5 war a couple of years ago, an insane activist said, and I quote, "you know who else is deeply invested in math's 'neutrality'? Literal white supremacists." Sure. Because the KKK and Nazis were absolute sticklers for objective reality, evidence and empiricism. That sure sounds right. /s

You sound the same. As I said in the beginning, taking merit, color blindness, rejection of identarianism, removal of authoritarian thought-police, adherence to constitutional law, reinstatement of academic freedom and integrity, and pursuit of truth... and then casting them as values of "MAGA" reflects on you, not on me.

How the hell did you get here? How did you become so morally confused? Do you even know?

I'm where I've always been. Posting the above topics and posting "anti religious views" are entirely, completely consistent. They're based on the same values. For example, Xian creationism isn't any more true than the so-called "sex spectrum" - both are a denial of evolution.

Somewhere, only you can determine where, you absolutely lost your way.

One thing I do find amusing is that you're not really doing yourself any favors here. Calling people names so that they want nothing to do with you will only result in you wailing and crying when you find nobody wants to align themselves with you. It's self-defeating and deranged.

Unsurprisingly, it's also a tactic adopted by Hollywood.

Note that this is fake, but is the same "strategy" consistently adopted by Hollywood for every project in recent iterations of what-used-to-be-Star Wars, what-was-once-Marvel, what's-called-but-is-no-longer-Doctor Who: attack the fans who made the franchise what it was, call them names and say they're not welcome, then pretend you're the victim rather than the villain when your project fails. DARVO means Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender.

Xians call atheists "sinners' and "wicked" in order to convince them to convert to Xianity. You know, because atheists who don't believe in a magical space imp sure believe in the magical space imp's dungeon. That's the same tactic you're using. How's that working out for them, and how's that working for you?

What I would also point out is that the people who were calling everyone "Nazis" (e.g. people who know that 2+2=4) and declaring for themselves an unchallengeable right to physically assault anyone they decided was one... turned out to be the real Nazis, marching in the street, calling for the extermination of Jews.

Something to think about in regard to where you're heading.

Lan Xichen hissed at him, showing all his sharp white teeth, and batted a jar of dried herbs right off the front counter and onto the floor, where it shattered.

For his part, Lan Wangji only closed his eyes in resignation and paid the fuming witch for his herbs before hauling his brother out of the shop. He tried another shop that afternoon, and two more the next morning; but none of them would see Lan Xichen, having heard of his brief cat rampage (while simultaneously enduring the complaints of its victim) and the contagious nature of the curse that plagued Lan Wangji.

So at last, with no other choice remaining, Lan Wangji wrapped Lan Xichen in a blanket and took the two-mile walk into the uninhabited backwoods near his uncle’s house. He passed the stream he saw on the old witch’s map, and the bubbling silver waterfall that fed into it: and then, the better part of an hour later, he found himself in front of an iron gate covered with ivy, facing a neat wooden sign that read No Dogs Permitted.

Lan Xichen mewed and poked at it. How should we get in? the gesture seemed to ask, though Xichen could likely have jumped the fence in his new body. Knock, A-Zhan.

You know what would be hilarious ….. if Shen Qingqiu post canon gets transported into an au that’s not quite Bing-ge but Binghe lives at another peak or smth and he has to deal with him and the other peak lords being all stand offish and mean he’d be so HURT.

Shen Qingqiu would unthinkingly be like “Binghe I want tea and Lbh would say smth snide like “i see peak lord Shen is spoiled and demanding in every universe” and Shen Qingqiu might cry from the shock of it all.

He’d try and pat LBHs head and he batted away he’d try to hang over Liu-Shidi and be pushed off he’d try to hang out with Qi-shimei and be kicked off Xian Shu and his alternate counterpart is calling him a disgraceful weakling

Just Shen Qingqiu trying to survive in a world where his wife beam is non functional 😞

Bonus points if the two Binghe’s meet and Shen Qingqiu has to be told by bing-mei yes he’s the most special shizun in the entire universe this Binghe must be broken while other Binghe is like “??? He is an 8/10 and can’t do basic household tasks you can keep him???”

hello! this has absolutely not been sitting in my inbox for over a month, and i am absolutely not writing this directly into tumblr like a maniac when i should be working on homework.

anyway!

I'm going to be completely honest, my whole schtick is saving minor women from death so I'm going to modify this a little bit right off the bat by saying she's not actually dead, just faking her death and Yan Bingyun is not in on it. This has no real effect on YBY's side of things but it does mean that whoever saved her (Fan Xian probably) is real shifty by the end of the timeline. (This modification has the added bonus of my romantic shipper heart being satisfied at the end).

okay so. We're at the battle, right? And Shen-xiaojie is on the sidelines, watching the two men she loves most in the world trying to kill each other. And then her brother has her beloved knocked down and is about to stab him. So she does what any self-respecting minor character's love interest does in a cdrama--- she throws herself in front of the sword, taking the wound for herself and stopping the battle in its tracks. Yadda yadda yadda, canon plot happens. Fan Xian goes and saves her and they start back for Qing.

Here's where things diverge. (rest under the cut bc this got long)

So, this could go a few different ways, but the following is my favorite: Shen Wan'er wakes up, finds herself in a carriage on its way to Qing and comes to the completely reasonable conclusion that she is to be a hostage and summarily tortured for information she may have received from her brother. She decides "fuck that shit, I'm outta here" and sneaks away in the middle of the night. She has somehow timed this perfectly with Xie Bi'an's cornering of Fan Xian and Yan Bingyun, so the two of them are too distracted to notice that she's gone until they have bigger things to worry about. Thus, she is given up for dead.

(She is not dead--- she spends the rest of the fic wandering around future fantasy china, eventually ending up in Danzhou, where she meets Grandma Fan and learns to have some self-respect. After all the shenanigans in the capital have passed, Grandma Fan makes a visit and Shen-xiaojie meets YBY as a woman confident in herself)

Back to YBY. He's just had to help fake Fan Xian's death (bc until s2 comes out and tells us otherwise, he was working with Fan Xian). And then suddenly the girl he's not allowing himself to like is gone. She was badly injured (because of him), surrounded by foreign men (because of him), and in an unknown location (because of him).

His reaction at first is to put in a box with the rest of the emotions he's not allowing himself to feel (read: all of them). But throughout the fic, as YBY is bullied into caring about himself by Teng-furen and Fan Xian (bc he still takes FX to the Teng Family Farm and Hospital bc how can I not have my bamf Wen Yinhong in any au lbr), he starts to allow himself to think about the fact that he did, actually, like Shen Wan'er. Grief is not an emotion he is used to--- he would also be realizing that he maybe kinda sorta also cared for Teng Zijing. But by the end of the fic, he's maybe reached a sort of equilibrium in that he's not actively repressing everything anymore, but he's also not emotionally healthy, because Fan Xian and Wen Yinhong are many things but licensed therapists they are not.

(And then the end is the two of them reuniting and getting to restart their relationship on much more even footing for the both of them)

Anyway, I'm not sure if this was quite what you were asking, but I do Not have to time to write a full-fledged fic like this at the moment, so enjoy this ramble-y and un-edited plot summary!

I started reading danmei novels in 2022, but I read the MDZS novel and listened to the audio drama back in 2019 after the live action came out. This is like my gateway to the danmei fandom before I fully committed to coming here.

P.S. This is also my favorite version of WangXian. I still remember looping this song in my hotel room during several work trips that fall while I was frantically editing my slide decks.

I started and stopped the TGCF novel several times and didn't finish it until earlier this year, but I have been obsessed with that little melody at the beginning of this song ever since I heard it in the donghua trailer but in 2020.

不过蓬蒿旧梦自在余生/懒知欢与恨 Only a humble old dream to live freely for the rest of my years / and be unaffected by joy or hatred

Faraway Wanderers is my first audiodrama (excluding MDZS in 2019). The entire "danmei ecosystem" -- authors, novels, voice actors, and musical artists -- was all so new to me back then. I remember really liking this song and looking up the artist, learning he is also the director for the drama, and a famous voice actor, and ... ooh boy I'm still in that rabbit hole today ...

把盏/"Raise a glass" by 落樱风, from 将进酒/Qiang Jin Jiu, Season 1

亦同他与天道比高 / 不负这年少 To challenge the way of the world alongside him / is not a waste of these youth years

Unlike most other titles on this list, this one didn't hook me right off the bat. I didn't truly appreciate it until after I really got into the story and understood all the references in the lyrics. After I fell in love with QJJ, I really like the feeling of this song, like it's a story slowly being retold by Xiao Chiye.

吹雪/"Flying Snow" cover by 贾诩, 梁毅, from 黄金台/The Golden Terrance, Episode 3 ending theme

风华流年/只怕今生缘浅 The best years are slipping by / I only fear we are not destined to have this lifetime together

The Golden Terrance is the first free (网配) audiodrama I listened to, and the amount of work people have put into their labour of love truly amazed me. I love this song so much I made a shortcut to it on my phone's home screen, just so I can pull it up with a single click.

I'm speculating, yet again....

So since the 19days chapter realsed a day or two ago (maybe even three depending on when this gets done and then posted), I wanted to share a few thoughts and some opinions along the way, hope you enjoy.

So the cliffhanger Old Xian left us with is making me worried about Jian yi, for several reasons being:

1. She li is somewhat and somhow on par with He tian, or atleast close to him power/skill wise (still less strong than He tian tho).

2. I know Jian yi has been training with brother Qiu for a while now but we don't the typ of training he went through, was it training him to run away and have as much stamina as possible, was it to defend himself in case someone caught him and tried to kill him, or was it a training to teach him how to kill? (Or make someone lose their consciousness/beat'em up)?

Brief Answer(?): The most likely one is that he is trained for two of them one in particular he is very good at, also the one he won't use, running away. Whilst the second is defending himself (it could be fighting rather than "defending"), why am I so confident you ask? Well simply because he won't show up to She li's invitation to specifically get beaten up (or worse..).

3. Even if Jian yi can take on a few of the gangsters that are helping She Li, which I doubt for a few reasons:

A. All of these gangsters (including She Li) have weapons and I'm not sure if he can handle that ( weapons like bats and whatnot)

B. She Li in particular is not a nice fighter who plays clean, he always uses some dirty methods like using knives and other dangerous stuff to just win, and I'm not sure if Jian yi can handle a stab or two...

4. You can call me a hopless romantic who enjoys love interests coming to the rescue of each other, but I think Zheng xi will come and try helping Jian yi afterall he promised to protect him, didn't he?

5. I know I said you can call me a hopeless romantic but really I am but a mere hypocrite, hence my upcoming contradictory point here, which is brother Qiu is gonna be the real champ here and save the day. Since Jian yi is highly limited to his small experience in fighting (street fighting) and there is only so much Zheng Xi can do, and also because Qiu is supposed to be protecting Jian yi. While yes I know that the relationship between HT and HC is very complicated it doesn't have much to do with Qiu's job to protect Jian yi ( it kinda does but you wouldn't expect him to not protect him, unless I'm wrong which of course, doesn't happen.)

6. I think for the next chapter or the one after (or the after both of these) we will see HT and Mo chilling.

hot take: silco isn’t as spineless of a parent that the fandom makes him out to be and he does show to have clear boundaries set in place with jinx. i feel most of the fandom’s hcs for silco’s parenting style comes from finn’s line

and treats it as the absolute truth canon but dude has a clear bias and agenda for making silco look as weak and unresolved as possible. so ofc he’s going to say that silco sucks as a parent.

meanwhile when we actually see silco and jinx interact, he holds his ground. silco tells jinx, in his own round about way, that she messed up and it’s time to go away so the adults can fix her mistake. jinx, understandably, grows upset by this and tries to tell him that she wants to stay and be a part of his plans but he puts his foot down. “take it anyhow.”

he’s spine has not turned to jelly nor is he trying to appease her by giving her some smaller part in his plans. he’s firm in his decision and she reluctantly obeys him.

cut to this scene. silco is so pissed at jinx right now but i noticed when he’s yelling at her, he pauses, giving her time to explain herself. it’s only when each time she shows no remorse or explanation that he gets irritated enough to grab her tools. but another great example that he doesn’t just let anything slide. he was fully ready to give her punish her but it’s only when she shows him the gemstone that he relents.

silco being very much a ‘the end justifies the means’ type of man suddenly doesn’t care if she was reckless. she got him something valuable and deserves to be praised for it. and i think that’s a key part of in his parenting style. he doesn’t care how she gets from point a to point b as long as she does it within his time frame.

here jinx is being a little chicky girl. giving some sass because she’s heard this story a millions times and boo boo little meow meow mew silco. it’s at this point, everyone’s saying “wow silco! you’re daughter is so disrespectful.” but he just snickers bc he knows jinx. he doesn’t consider it disrespectful, bc he knows that’s how she expresses herself.

we all have different levels of formality we’re willing to put up with. i let my kids get away with talking to me in a very formal way bc that’s how i speak to them. however, no matter how they address or speak to me, they know when to straight up. check out jinx.

yeah she just gave him attitude but when she realizes this is a serious thing she sobers up and acts accordingly. something she wouldn’t do if there wasn’t already boundaries and expectations set into place.

i just think that silco deserves far more credit that the fandom gives him when it comes to his parenting style and considering he’s pretty much a single parent raising a child without any prior experience, he did a lot of things right (ignore the murder and manipulation).

Some organizations are not really on board with this ideology, but are playing along either because there's a loud minority of moralizing activist ideologues - mostly woke, straight white churchladies who style themselves as "queer" or "nonbinary", or at least, "allies" - within them who are sucking up all the oxygen, or because they feel they're obliged to by the market. And particularly, they don't want to be conspicuously non-compliant. They just want the beast to eat someone else. For reference, see the Twitter accounts which post Pride banners and icons in western countries, but not in Middle East/North Africa (MENA) countries. They just need sufficient reason - legal or financial - to start ignoring the ideologues and get back on-mission.

Others are fully on board, from the top down. And unfortunately, this category tends to include medical institutions. These organizations need a good legal or financial bat taken to them. Which will hopefully then trigger a spill of their management layer. And with more and more whistleblowers, and more and more lawsuits, such as those by Chloe Cole, Layla Jane and others coming down the pipeline, and increased scrutiny due to the widening gap between European and North American approaches, something will eventually give. Insurers, risk assessors, shareholders, regulators and others with a vested interest in the longevity and viability of the organization will be forced to intercede. Especially as it becomes undeniable that the Europeans are deferring to evidence, while the North Americans have succumbed to ideology. At some point, the US in particular, will need to undergo the same process as the UK, Finland and other countries in conducting an inquiry and review into what's going on and the scientific evidence that supports it... or not.

The really big problem is that these ideologues are notorious liars. Consider what happened when the Tavistock was announced to close, with the interim Cass report describing the GIDS service as "not safe or viable as a long-term option for the care of young people with gender related distress." The ideologues spun this into "they're closing it down so they can open many more! Nothing wrong with it except capacity!" Countries like Finland and Sweden have stopped prescription of puberty blockers and hormones, which was spun into "they didn't ban affirmation" (i.e. blockers and hormones). They conveniently leave out the part where they can only be used in strictly controlled clinical trials, because the current evidence is astonishingly weak. It's like saying "ebola is safe" because certain high-security labs have access to it for research and testing. It's the same kind of pathological dishonesty you get from Xians trying to make their demon god into the "good" guy because free will, salvation, you send yourself to hell, etc, etc.

There are also people so over-invested that actually acknowledging the boiling pot they found themselves in would be too psychologically damaging. Imagine being a Jack Turban, who has made his name lying for virtue, being confronted with the people whose lives were directly impacted by the misrepresentations he'd spun. Or being Michelle Forcier and figuring out you'd spent your life sterilizing children for no reason. How do you ever come back from something like that? The psychological architecture of religiosity tends to have mechanisms to protect the believer from the psychological damage of this kind of atrocity: denial, rationalization, etc. We see that in the traditionally religious. It's not even possible to get a Xian to acknowledge the logical and moral problems with religious concepts such as hell, sin or salvation. They're psychologically incapable. Even if Ray Comfort realized he'd made a mistake about evolution, he'd never be able to publicly admit it, and would still go on with his schtick. Because backing out of such a major commitment would be inconceivable.

I wish I could say that people will have a "come to Jesus" moment (so to speak), an epiphany and come to their senses. But that won't happen. It won't be a moral or scientific revelation, it will ultimately be the pragmatism of the bottom line.

People can believe that they have a mismatched gender thetan living in their body, or that they are "cakegender" or whatever. But they don't get to force the entirety of society to play along, any more than a Xian gets to force everyone else to pray, or a Muslim gets to force everyone to observe Ramadan. We need to start reassembling the secular walls the genderists have been breaching.
