Alternatives to breadmaking for this lughnasadh:
Boa buns - custard dessert ones, or savory dinner ones. Can be decorated. Bread-ish, but takes less time than bread.
Pasta making - or buying fresh pasta - celebrates the grains
Rice dishes - rice is just as much about abundance as wheat is
Baking with fruits like apples, berries, and late-summer melons
Tortilla making, if that fits with your culture better
Cornbread - homemade, or that 99 cent Jiffy mix.

Blessed Imbolc!
Blessed Imbolc to the witches that celebrate! And blessed Lammas to southern hemisphere friends!
Where I live it snowed today and hasn't snowed all winter this year so I'm planning to do something with that! What are your Imbolc/Lammas plans?

Lughnasadh
Tumblr media
What is Lughnasadh?
Lughnasadh, or "Lammas", is celebrated on August 1st and marks the harvest of summer fruits, wheat and more! So a good way to celebrate this sabbat is by cooking and eating/drinking things that have wheat in it. Lammas also reminds us that summer will end soon (yes, already!) and the abundance we got through the season.
What to do for Lughnasadh?
Tumblr media
Gold, yellow, orange, brown and green are great colors for Lughnasadh! Try to have at least one on you, be it your clothes or accessories
Aventurine, citrine, peridot, moss agate, clear quartz and carnelian are all crystals related to Lammas! You can wear one or bring one with you for the whole day
Make food that has wheat in it! Bake a breadloaf or drink beer! Or you can even eat in-season fruits and vegetables, like blackberries and corn. That way, you can honor the harvest Honor the sun! Here, you'll find a recipe for bread (not the one I tried though!) And here is a nice peach pie I made for the sabbat!
Since summer will soon come to an end, the sun will be less present. Go outside and enjoy the sun, or put sun symbols on your altar
Speaking of altars: wheat, scythes, corns and beer are all things you can put on your altar to celebrate this sabbat
Make corn dollies or gather seeds for the next harvest! You can also enjoy a campfire or lighting candles, or go outside and take in every detail before nature changes for fall. Also, take care of your plants, if you have any!
Blessed Lammas, everyone!

For Lammas/Lughnasadh I made gingerbread men and cookies! According to the book I have, gingerbread came from Lammas tradition of the Corn King. They're not exquisite and not super tasty. But I'm proud that I tried to make something to celebrate the sabbath. And in honor of the Celtic God Lugh, who is a craftsman himself. 🧡 Lammas Blessings to all! 🧡🌞🍞 this is the first harvest of the year, take a moment to think of what you have grown thus far this year and now harvest and be thankful for.
🧡 I personally am thankful that I have grown more self love for myself. It's a daily battle, but I have made a conscious effort to realize and 'harvest' the confidence in myself in all things.🧡

🌻 Making tea, crescents, and raspberry tarts for Lammas this evening. The harvest was a long haul this month, I was afraid it'd get alot more shakey. I stood firm and kept at it.
The best of the baked goods will be given as an offering. I dressed some candles and prepared each for the 3 days of full moon (sigils, homemade oil, moon water, the works) I’m taking full advantage rn. I've taken a break from my craft for quite some time to focus on work.
Inflation has been a mf, it's a full moon, so I kept it simple✨️🌕

Lammas or Lughnasadh Blessings!
So as well as it being a full moon and the 1st of August today it is also the date that marks the celebration of the first fruits of harvest.

Fields of gold, waves of grain, the summer comes to a close. The harvest is ready, ripe for threshing, as the sun fades into autumn. Flour will be milled, bread will be baked, and we shall eat for another winter.
