Wildflowers flourishing along a tranquil Ozarkian trail. It was a blessing to enjoy this beautiful place where the sun kissed spots of the blue forest floor and only the sound of bird songs and soft wind whispered through the trees. The blue-eyed mary (Collinsia verna) and virginia bluebells (Mertensia virginica) thriving on the forest floor are both native spring ephemerals found throughout the central and eastern parts of North America.

Teena Marie was an R&B singer, songwriter, musician, and producer. She was known by her childhood nickname Tina before taking the stage name Teena Marie, and later, Rick James nicknamed her  Lady T. 

During her lifetime, she made music that shattered narrow-minded marketing categories and gender roles. Teena Marie was the rare woman in charge of her material. She wrote, produced, and performed her records for much of her career, which took off in 1979. 

Early in her career, Teena Marie told Dick Clark on American Bandstand that from the time she was eight years old, she dreamed of being on Motown Records. She said, "I used to look at the blue label and say, Oh, God, it (Motown) must be the most fabulous place'."

After several creative delays at Motown, she caught the attention of Rick James, who was establishing himself in 1970s soul funk music. 

In his autobiography, Memoirs Of A Super Freak, Rick James described his first encounter with Teena Marie, “Never in my life had I heard such a range with so much passion in a white voice.”

With Rick's help, Teena's first single, ‘I’m A Sucker For Your Love,’ originally conceived as a potential duet for Rick James and Diana Ross, exploded into the Top Ten of Billboard’s R&B charts. “We deliberately didn’t put her picture on the album cover,” said Rick James, “because we wanted to confuse people, and make them wonder whether Teena was black or white.” The song spent six months on the charts.

Looking back at that time, Teena Marie said,  "Black people would always say, “I didn’t know you were White.” But people like good music," She added, "At the end of the day, you have to sing what’s in your own soul." 

After Rick James passed, Teena Marie became addicted to Vicodin, initially diagnosed for her physical pain from a series of accidents. "Once I realized that those pills not only took away my physical agony by masking my emotional pain, I really became addicted," she told Essense Magazine.

Losing Rick James meant losing her musical soulmate, and her grief was unbearable. " We were like an extension of each other. I miss all our talks. We were like family; only family can talk about family, not anyone else."

FINALLY

Finally a tired SS Waps Mystic Moxie gave birth to an equally tired filly. And soon after this picture was taken, we had to get the vet to come and put down the mare. Mystic was so weak that she wouldn't make it. After all the mare should have given birth some time ago, and she didn't.

Which worried me a lot, and I was confused, because all the other mares gave birth on time.

Little DER Moxie's Tempo, named in loving memory of her dam, is a big girl already, being late to come out. Luckily DER Bloody Mary's foal, DER Blue Eyed Meryl, had just begun to eat solid foods, so her dam Mary was able to feed little Moxie/Tempo, when her mother wasn't able to.

Moxie barely got to know her mother, so she doesn't miss her as such, still I sometimes find her looking around for something, who knows what.

Maybe she actually misses her birthmother, maybe sometimes her fostermother isn't good enough, even though she has gained a fostersibling.

The colts are also growing. They have begun eating solid foods now, and have a few hours a day in the stallion pasture with Justin (DER Justa Splash Bomb) without their mothers.

As you can see Justin is good at looking out for the boys and make sure they aren't getting into too much trouble xD

Lucid Thoughts is a pink tulpa with white hair, fairy and angel wings on their head and back, as well as puffy queenlike regalia reminiscent of strawberries and cream. They wear a strawberry-shaped crown on their head, strawberry-shaped puffed sleeves adorned with pearls, sheer cream stockings and a cream colored bustle with red underlining.

Sandy Manifesto is a purple and pink alien-like office worker wearing a partially unbuttoned dark purple shirt, light peach argyle sweater, mustard yellow socks, and dark purple leather shoes. They carry a purple plastic tumbler with colorful steam coming from its spout, as well as an hourglass packaged like a messenger bag and filled with purple sand.

Doubella Donna is a pale, red-eyed, smiling woman dressed like an Edwardian Mourning Widow in a deep purple dress. Her fascinator is shaped like a pale mask, with purple roses, a golden hatpin and sheer lace veil adorning her purple hair. Her pale fingers hover delicately over the surface of a floor-length mirror, but where her visage should be reflected there is instead a cracked and hollow-eyed doll.

Unheard Prayers dons the visage of a Mother Mary Statue- a pale, cracked marble woman in a blue and gold dress, with gilded halos adorning her head, and marble angels making up her gilded skirt. Underneath the golden, cage-like petticoats, though, peeks out its true form- a large, blue demon, whose only visible features are two of its four yellow eyes, and blue arms topped with golden claws.
