Do you have any suggestions for offerings/ways to worship Brigid? Particularly Brigid as a pagan goddess, I know she was later included into Catholicism as a saint because pagans loved her so much! Also would love anything that focuses on low energy things as I’m chronically I’ll and disabled! This would mean a lot to me! I’ve done lots of research on my own but brain fog can be difficult to deal with! Thank you and no rush!
Hi my love! As a disabled babe also, I get what you mean and I'd love to help out!
Offerings and Worshipping Lady Brigid
Tumblr media
First thing I found is actually that Brigid is associated with water and springs so water would be a perfect offering
Stay hydrated!
Light a candle for her! Brigid is associated with fire!
Bonfires or food related gatherings with friends/families/partners
She is associate with the Hearth/Home. The hearth is often immediately assumed to be the kitchen as wood stoves historically provided warmth for the families but now your hearth can be wherever you feel most comfortable and at home 🧡
Eat good meals!
Celebrate imbolc! Simmer pots are a great smelling, low energy way to do that!
Florals! Flowers flowers flowers everywhere! Brigid is associated with Spring!
Wear floral scented perfumes and floral dresses or shirts
Straw/hay was actually commonly used to welcome Brigid and her gifts into the home and would make a great offering!
Brigid is a goddess of protection and fertility so if you're trying for a baby! Do it to honour her
Alternatively! Take your birth control as an offering
Practice safe sex!
Brigid is revered as a healer, so take your meds babe!
Brigid is also associated with poetry and wisdom which means reading or writing poetry in her honour is a great offering for her
Domesticated animals are also sacred to her so take care of your furry, scaly and slimy friends
Dyeing your clothes, knitting or crocheting
Brewed drinks such as coffee, tea, beer or mead
Cow imagery (especially white cows)
Practice divination

A Prayer to Keep Ones Chill
Brigid, bank my fires. Smother the flames that harm instead of help. Cool my temper with the waters of your well. Wash away frustrations. Wrap me in your mantle and bring me back to center.

I sing your name in praise
I ask for your light during my life’s new era

On this day,
as we kindle the flame in our hearts,
We pray that the flame of Bridie
ignites in our souls,
and the souls of all we meet.
We pray that no envy and malice,
no hatred or fear,
may smother the flame.
We pray that indifference and apathy,
contempt and pride,
may not pour like cold water on the flame.
Instead,
may the spark of Bridie
light the love in our souls
so that it might burn brightly
throughout the year.
May we warm those that are lonely;
our light guide those who are lost,
so that all may know the comfort of
Bridie's Love.

Ireland had two Goddesses make it through Christianization intact, one did so very pleasantly.
In the case of Ireland there are two Goddesses whose nature as Goddesses largely made it through the Christianization filter intact. One of them retained worship as a Saint, the other became the archetypal Faerie Queen and was demonized. The one worshiped as a Saint is Brigid, daughter of the King of the Tuatha de Danaan, the Irish Gods. As a Goddess and a Saint She is essentially a solar goddess befitting Her Father, and as St. Brigid of Kildaire very much endured Christianization intact and became a central point of Irish Catholicism much as the Virgin of Guadalupe is a Mesoamerican Goddess rewritten into the Virgin Mary.
This was part and parcel of Christianization in practice, when it switched from the brute force 'obey or be slaughtered' to a more subtle 'destroy what we can't co-opt and turn what we can into saints' method.

Man.
I made this journal for my ex for Christmas in 2020. When I say I made it, I mean I conceptualized the idea, digitally drew the cover and inside art, printed them out, wrapped the covers, sourced the paper, gilded the designs and bound the book. All of it. I did all of it.
It was a book that proudly displayed their enby and ace pride, and incorporated their Celtic religious beliefs and included prayers to their patron, Brigid.
I put so much work into this. I whispered prayers as I bound it.
And then our relationship went REALLY south. It takes two to fight, but it also takes two to communicate. I was willing to do the latter, but they only paid communication lip service. It all just recently crashed down around me. I wanted to talk to them calmly about how a while ago they admitted to manipulating me, and I wanted to talk about that and hopefully we could both grow from it. But instead, they didn't even want to have that talk with me, they said awful things to me, blocked me, and then told our mutual 'friends' warped and twisted lies and said that I had said them. And my ex made sure to target each and every one of their personal fears. I'm still blown away with how evil their true colours turned out to be...
I don't know what's become of this book. I don't care to know to be honest. I don't want to hear if it's been burned in a fire or violently shredded or lovingly kept, my name scratched out.
I don't regret making it though. I think this shows the kind of person I am -- the level that I can care for a person, and how I can craft something so personal as to be magic. And I refuse to regret that because of one awful person.
Also of note: Even though my Ex has treated me like scum, I refuse to stoop to their level, so I've blocked out their full last name, even though it means you can't see all the beautiful lettering I did.

Glorious Lady, sing to the mountains.
Light of the lantern, rejoice in the sky.
Seat of compassion, dance among flames.
Dweller in-between, ascend from the well.

Seeker of wisdom, what truths do I seek?
Mother of righteousness, whom shall I aid?
Queen of the just, which hex shall I break?
Great Illuminator, what stories must I tell?
