“What do you think?” Vicki asked holding up a Halloween costume.
“Love it” Emily said as they went through the racks. “Here you'll need this” Emily said putting a witch's hat on Vicki's head “Will it fit?” Emily asked.
“Sure, my mom will just have to let the sides out that's all, I guess I am getting a little bit big here huh?” she asked looking down at her growing stomach.
“Muahaha” Jason said in a sinister voice as he came up behind Emily wearing a mask.
“You look better with the mask” Emily said to him as she rolled her eyes.
“You guys find costumes?” Vicki asked as Brian stood behind her.
“Sure did, what do you think?” Brian asked showing her a vampire costume.
“Ooh a vampire” she said “I don’t what it is but vampires have always been so sexy to me” Vicki said.
“Oh really” he said shoving his face into her neck, she giggled.
“Geeze, you guys already got one in there you trying to make twins?” Jason asked.
“Yeah because that’s how it works” Brian said to Jason.
“So? Did you find out what you're having?” Emily asked putting her hand on Vicki's stomach.
“Soon” Vicki said patting her stomach.
“No need to, I know for a fact it’s a boy” Brian said wrapping his arms around Vicki.
“How can you be so sure?” Emily asked.
“Trust me, I know” Brian said patting her stomach.
“Just let him have this” Vicki said to her “Okay, everyone got their costume? If we're not back in time to help my mom decorate she'll blow a blood vessel or something” Vicki said.
~*~“Trick or treat!” a group of children cried as Lizzie opened her front door.
“Well look at you” she said as she reached into the bowl of candy, she threw a few pieces into their trick or treat bags.
The door opened, Kellie came in, Kevin stepped in behind her with the carrier in his hand.
"Oh look who's here" Lizzie said to them cheerfully.
"Hi Mrs. McAdams" Kellie said pulling her coat off.
"Hello, let me take your coats" she said to them "And who do we have here?" she asked bending down to the floor to peek into the carrier.
"That's Kyle" Kellie said to her.
"Oh he is so precious" Lizzie said "May I?" she asked.
"Oh sure" Kellie said unbuckling him and pulling him out of the carrier.
"Oh look at you" Lizzie said holding him "Aren't you an adorable little scarecrow?" Lizzie said rocking him.
“Everyone! May I please have your attention” Nick said, with Sasha by his side “I have a very special announcement to make, Ladies and gentlemen, it’s a boy” he said happily as he and Sasha kissed, everyone applauded them.
“Wow” Melissa said taking a sip of her drink.
“Congratulations” Vicki said hugging Sasha.
"Thanks" Sasha said hugging her back.
"Okay, Vicki, that leaves you, you have the girl" Melissa said to her.
"We don't know that yet" she said.
"Congratulations dude" Brian said hugging Nick.
"Thanks” Nick said to him as they hugged.
"To your son" Brian said tapping his cup up against Nick's.
"To my son!" Nick said as they took a drink.
"Hey guys" Kellie said holding Kyle in her arms.
"My goodness" Vicki gasped upon seeing him.
"Look at him" Christina cooed.
"So adorable" Sasha said.
"Love the family costume thing" Vicki said to her.
"Wizard of Oz, very creative" Sasha said to her.
"It's my favorite movie" Kellie said to them as she looked down at Kyle.
"Okay, I can't take it anymore, can I please hold him?" Vicki asked holding her hands out.
Kellie laughed "Of course" Kellie said handing him over to her.
"He is so tiny" Vicki said cradling him in her arms.
"Heard you had a rough labor" Christina said to her as she held Kyle's tiny hand.
"Almost twelve hours" Kellie said to them "I was begging for an epidural" she said to them.
"So, Chris, when does Kyle get to meet little Harrison?" Vicki asked.
"Harry" Christina said to her "Next month, they think I should deliver around Thanksgiving, or I could go until the first week of December" Christina said to them.
"I hear Kyle gets to share a birthday with his daddy" Vicki said to Kellie.
"Almost, he missed that by six hours" Kellie said to her "So, Sash, boy number 4 congratulations" Kellie said to her.
"Thank you" Sasha said to her.
"That leaves you Vicki, think you might have the girl?" Kellie asked her.
"We'll have to wait and see, I have an appointment next week, maybe we'll find out then" she said looking down at Kyle.
"Looks like our 5 boy theory is coming true" Sasha said to Melissa.
"God does have a sick sense of humor" Melissa said to her.
"Okay my turn" Christina said as Vicki passed Kyle over to her.
"So, Sash, what is it? Daniel, Ian or Wesley?" Vicki asked her.
"Wesley?!" they asked her in surprise.
"You mean like on Star Trek?" Christina asked.
"I think we're going to go with Ian" Sasha said to them.
"Oh good, you're breaking the cycle, my boyfriend is going to be so happy" Melissa said to her "He thought you were going to name him Nathan or something" Melissa said to her.
"Nathan...there's an idea" Sasha said to her.
"I had to bring it up" Melissa said.

I’m at my parents’ house and I have too much time on my hands apparently, so it’s time for a trip down memory lane! More specifically, a trip into the weird world of 1990s for-profit teen idol RPF, such as this beauty:
Tumblr media
No, I did not find this at my parents’ house, I bought it second-hand specifically in order to make this post because I’m a person who enjoys studying fan culture in her free time. So, if you’re wondering what the hell the monstrosity pictured above is, and why it exists, don’t worry, I’m about to answer that question extensively.
LONG (AND HOPEFULLY FUN & INTERESTING) POST UNDER THE CUT
Let’s start with a bit of history: In the pre-internet era, fan culture differed from today in a few key regards. Although fanfiction existed, without the internet it was much harder for fans to share their stories with each other. Large fandoms such as Star Trek did have fanzines where fanfic could be printed, but all in all it was a much more niche thing than it is today with millions of fics accessible on AO3.
Fan culture in general, however, was a big thing in the 90s – particularly when it came to pop acts that appealed to teen (and tween) audiences, such as the Backstreet Boys, the Spice Girls, or (mostly in Europe) the Kelly Family. When I was in elementary school, you basically had to pick whether you were a BSB or an NSYNC fan – and god forbid you were a Kelly fan like me, then you were the lowest rung on the social ladder and the target of relentless mockery. Like many German kids in the 90s, me and my sister would religiously read teen magazine BRAVO, cut out every single bit of material about our faves and collect them in folders and self-made fanzines. We created fan art and fanfiction without having words for these things. Without the internet and social media, fans did not have a constant stream of content about their idols, and were left with no other choice but to cling to every bit of information they could find in magazines, on TV shows, or on the radio.
Enter a savvy businessperson who comes up with the perfect merchandise product to sell to these popstar-obsessed teens: fan novels! These books, featuring taglines such as ‘The novel for all Backstreet Boys fans’, typically revolved around a relatable female teenage protagonist who is a fan of the celebrity or music group in question, and usually ends up meeting their idol or, gasp, even becoming romantically involved with them. As far as themes go, they look pretty much exactly like your classic self-insert RPF. Except there is a big difference setting these books apart from ‘actual’ fanfiction: Rather than being written by real fans to express their ‘fannish’ feelings about the subject, fan novels were most likely commissioned works created by professional romance authors purely to profit off of actual fans. There is very little background information available about this ‘genre’, but I did stumble across an academic work on Google Books which featured a passage about these fan novels (translated into English by me):
There are several commissioned works by professional authors, which could be mistaken for fanfiction. Especially in the 1990s, when lots of boy bands were on the market, many books of this kind were published. […] These are fictional stories for fans [redacted].
Jennie Hermann: Backstreet Girl. Projektionsfläche Popstar - Wenn der Fan zum Schriftsteller wird (2009) [Popstar as Projection Surface – When fans become writers]
One of the things I find most intriguing about this type of commercially published fanfiction is the question of personal rights. Obviously, the celebs in question or their management must have consented to using their names in the story, their pictures on the cover and so on – because a profit could be made with this. Especially with the fan debate around RPF allegely being unethical, I wonder if the celebrities themselves were aware someone was writing these stories about them, putting words in their mouth, and if they had any clue what exactly happened in these novels. Now, I’ve read a couple of them in my own youth. Some of them deal mostly with the state of being a fan, e.g. I recall a novel about a girl who is so obsessed with Leonardo Di Caprio that she doesn’t pay attention to real life guys at all, only to learn that her actual dream boy has been in her life all along! This story did not feature Di Caprio himself as a character, it was more about the protagonist’s arc of realizing your idols are not all that matters in life. Others do describe fan encounters with teen idols, and some even feature (hints at) romance with a celebrity. When I decided to purchase a vintage copy of one of these books, I opted for one of the latter category, precisely because of the popular argument that writing romance stories featuring real people is somehow ‘wrong’. For only a couple of euros, I was able to get my hands on a weird and wonderful relic of fan culture: Mein Frühling mit Nick (My spring with Nick) by the likely pseudonymous Maxi Keller, heralded on the book cover as ‘the novel for all fans of the Backstreet Boys’.
The story revolves around 16-year-old musical prodigy and designated wallflower Katharina, who lives in a German small town and cares about nothing else than playing the organ – certainly not about boys, let alone ones that are super-famous American pop stars. This means she is not initially a fan of the Backstreet Boys, which I guess is something of a trope itself – the protagonist meeting a celebrity by chance without knowing who they are and the celeb being thrilled that someone doesn’t just like them for their fame. Anyway, the boys visit Katharina’s hometown while on tour in Germany because band member AJ is doing some research on his German ancestors who happened to live in this very town. Katharina runs into them, she and Nick (who was only 17 himself when this was published in 1997, so it’s legal) fall in love at first sight, she helps them dig up information on AJ’s ancestors and finds out the two of them are related, the boys invite Katharina and her friend Saskia backstage after their show and … nothing happens. The book is 200 pages long and Katharina doesn’t even get one kiss with her boy band sweetheart, even though they mutually crush on each other right away. Perhaps that’s as far as the band or their management agreed for the novel to go – a hint at romance, but no trace of any on-page action, no matter how innocent.
That said, the book is so hilariously poorly written that it was still very entertaining to read. Although I could not find out anything about the author Maxi Keller, and therefore assume this might be a pseudonym, their writing style very much suggests that their are a professional romance author who usually writes for an older audience (plus, the book was published by Bastei Lübbe, who also publish a range of cheap romance novels known as ‘Romanhefte’). The language is extremely flowery at times, and even teenage characters speak with an eloquence that is hardly age-appropriate, with some 90s teen slang peppered in at unfitting times (such as the overuse of the English word ‘girl’). Often the novel loses itself in pointless detail that does nothing to move the plot forward (such as an extensive description of a house party hosted by Saskia’s rich parents, with minute details of their luxurious lifestyle and assets, even though Saskia is only a supporting character in the overall plot). It appears as if the author is desperately trying to fill the pages with meaningless drivel so they don’t need to write too many scenes featuring the presumed main attraction, the boys themselves.
If Keller was indeed merely hired to write this, and is not a fan themselves, one must still admit that the author did their research when it comes to the band. Whereas fanfiction typically assumes that the audience is already familiar with the characters and often skips any introductory descriptions of their appearance or personality, Keller makes sure that even a reader who is completely unfamiliar with the Backstreet Boys can keep up. The author delivers extensive descriptions of the boys’ appearance and demeanor, even spelling out their full names repeatedly, and frequently peppers in ‘fun facts’ such as ‘Kevin was raised on a farm in Kentucky’. While an actual fan might do so to prove how knowledgeable they are, and earning their status as a ‘true fan’, in this case it only seems like Keller really wants to show off how much research they did – as if not a single piece of information they took in must go to waste by not being used in the novel.
When it comes to the question how realistically the non-fannish author replicates the way the boys act and speak, there are two barriers to delivering a well-founded answer: Firstly, I was personally very young when BSB were popular and I really don’t remember too well what each member was like. Secondly, the elephant in the room: the language barrier. All of the aforementioned fan novels were written in German, and the problems posed by writing about an English-speaking band interacting with German OCs (and teenage ones at that) are addressed poorly, if at all. Pretty much all dialogue is written in German, and the audience is left to assume that everyone is actually speaking English whenever the boys are involved – except the novel does nothing to explain why two 16-year-old German girls would be able to express themselves so effortlessly in a foreign language. (Remember, the internet was not a thing, so German kids were not exposed to the same amount of English in everyday life as they are these days.) It would have been easy to make one of them a language nerd who gets straight A’s in English class, and give the other a British parent and make them bilingual. Instead, Katharina initially even worries about the prospect of having to talk to boys at all, and in English on top of that! But when she actually does, the language barrier never comes up again. The suspension of disbelief expected from the reader is therefore immense. The language barrier also gives the author an easy way out when it comes to imitating the way the boys speak in real life – there is no need to take into account idiolects or regional differences (such as ‘you guys’ vs. ‘y’all’) if the boys’ speech is essentially translated into a foreign language. However, I wanted to give you guys (or y’all, if you will) a taste of how Keller attempts to write a scene where AJ and Nick discuss the latter’s crush on Katharina:
Tumblr media
I would argue that this sounds realistic enough for what it’s worth, if a little cheesy, which is excusable in this genre. Perhaps a true 90s BSB fan would beg to differ, so if you happen to be one, feel free to drop me a message. But in my semi-professional opinion, this most likely holds up for readers.
So, to answer the initial question that drove me to purchase this book: Do fan novels like Mein Frühling mit Nick count as fanfiction?
If we assume that something is only a fanfic if the author themselves is a fan of the subject matter, then I would argue no, Maxi Keller is probably not a fan themselves and therefore this work of for-profit real-person fiction does not qualify as fanfic. However, fan novels definitely have a (however small) place in the history of fan culture and fan-adjacent works, and I personally found reading this relic both entertaining and insightful!

Fic Questions
Tagged by my lovely @tastymoves...
1) How many works do you have on AO3?
433.
2) What’s your total AO3 word count?
4613257 - because we ALL know I’m longwinded when I write
3) How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
Eight: Kingsman movies, real person fiction (I’ve written one Armie Hammer/Timothee Chalamet story, one story involving Anderson Cooper, one story involving Adam Lambert), Backstreet Boys members, NSYNC members, Boondock Saints movies, Boondock Saints actors, Lord of the Rings Actors, Phantom of the Opera characters
4) What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Talk to Me (Kingsman AU Merwin, 1189), Driving the Nail (Kingsman Merhartwin, 885, the first story in the series),  Photographs & Memoris (Kingsman Harwin, 867), Return to Sender (Kingsman AU Hartwin, 834), and On the Road (Kingsman Merwin, 782).
5) Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
I try to, but sometimes when people just leave hearts, I feel awkward and don’t know what to say. I suppose thank you is good enough, but I feel like it isn’t.
6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
I do not do angsty endings. I don’t think I’ve ever even tried. I am a huge fan of the happy ending. I’ve put angst in the middle, but never at the end.
7) Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?
When I wrote in the boyband fandom, I would write BSB/NSYNC crossovers, but I’m not sure that counts.  I did put James Bond in Talk to Me, though...
8) Have you ever received hate on a fic?
When I first started writing in the Kingsman fandom, I received some scathing remarks when I made Harry Hart a bottom. I also received some nasty remarks once because someone said that I made it sound like all men like other men to have penises, basically that I was shaming any transgender people who identified as male and didn’t have penises. Most of you reading this know I never ever want to offend anyone, and it really hurt my feelings when this person attacked me so savagely about something that I never even thought twice about.
9) Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I do. I used to write a lot naughtier, but now I seem to always do best when it is wrapped in a good relationship, or when hidden feelings are under the surface.  My boys like happy sex.  Then again...if you’ve read the Driving the Nail series, you know I’ve explored puppy play and other kinks. I haven’t written that for a while...I think I’m due to go back there soon...
10) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Hopefully not
11) Have you ever had a fic translated?
A few, yes.
12) Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, because fic writing is the only place in my life where I am 100% selfish. I’m not ready to move over and let anyone else drive.
13) What’s your all time favorite ship?
This is hard, but Hartwin. They are beautiful together, Harry adores his Eggsy, Eggsy worships the ground Harry walks on, and I will die on this hill.
14) What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
My last NSYNC story. It was good, but I slowly lost steam.
15) What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue. Bantering dialogue.
16) What are your writing weaknesses?
Plot, good descriptive paragraphs.
17) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I don’t have any thoughts on this.
18) What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Before the internet was a thing, in 1990, I wrote New Kids on the Block stories.
19) What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
It would probably be Talk to Me.  It started with a tiny spark of an idea, and grew into this thing and people loved it.

I’m so weird with my writing. I’m so scared to do it because I don’t want my name out there unless I’m the best. I want my first book to be on the NTBS list and have people be like “wow best lesbian book of the year — this is the type of books I want to see more of!” But that’s such an unrealistic expectation.
I know it’s not likely to happen because I just don’t write stories that appeal to the masses that way. I’ll never be Casey McQuiston , Alice Oseman, Benjamin Alice Sáenz, Mackenzi Lee, Adam Silvera , Christina Lauren, TJ Klune, André Aciman, Shaun David Hutchison , Nora Sakavic,
Nothing I write is going to be something people fan over. Like what. I have my angsty depressing / literary fiction ones where the lesbians die. Oh great yeah we need more of that, clearly everyone will love those. I have my mills and boons style werewolf romance or older lady seduces young lady, yyeahhhh great so fun. Or my uwu we just finished high schoo who are we new adult books or my STUPID children’s book that deals with too many feelings for kids to enjoy it. I have nothing to give. All my ideas are crap and not something that would appeal to lots of people. Not to mention they are all lesbian stories as well and lesbian stories in general have a much harder time getting anywhere. I have a comic idea, oh cool nice, yeah and it’s borning and slice of life romance that deals with the same god damn plot points I always deal with. I can’t seem to write action or action packed intense stuff. It’s all just moody and sad stuff. And I have such a desire to see certain types of personalities in fiction that I can’t seem to write anything else because it’s not what I want to see. Which is just the sign of bad writer right there.
I shouldn’t care so much about being famous on my writing. I shouldn’t care about how many people read it or like it. But I do. Because this genuinely feels like the last thing I have and if I can’t even do this well, then man does my life feel meaningless and pointless. And I’m stuck between so many genres that realistically I wouldn’t be able to make any feasible career out of that. Like there is no way any major publishing house will take me. The only lgbt publishing house that genuinely gives writers a crack into the industry is dreamspinner press and that’s just gay male smut primarily written by women so yeahhhh that’s a no go. Places like BSB have rules were you have to fully sign with them, but I don’t think they would suite everything I’m aiming for. There’s no way in hell a major publishing house would want to touch my uwu werewolf lesbian romance. They probably wouldn’t even want my crappy attempt at more in-depth fiction either. I just feel stuck. Like no matter what decision I make it’ll be wrong and everyone will hate what I make and there’s no point in doing it unless I’m the best. WHICH IS SUCH A STUPID MINDSET TO HAVE!!! And what frustrates me even more is most of my all time favourite lesbian books aren’t the main stream ones from big publishing houses. They are ones from small lesbian focused lesbian publishing houses. But for some reason I think that doesn’t apply to me or I’m not allowed to do that. Which sucks. So now I just don’t write because I feel like it’s bad and nothing I can do will make it good or worth anyone’s time, let alone mine. But I hate feeling this way because I genuinely do love writing and I want to put lesbian stories into this world. I just don’t feel like I can, I feel like I’m not good enough and that everyone around me is better.
But then sometimes I think god damn what I wrote is incredible, but then it doesn’t get the reaction I thought it would, so my ocd kicks in to remind me I’m never allowed to think something positive about what I do or look like because that is the way to make to suck beying help so I’m just stuck in this pit of being terrified to like what I do, terrified to tell people that I think what I’ve done is good, and just genuinely hating everything I create so I just lose all the energy and motivation to do it. Even though writing was always something that helped me and that I truly loved. Now it just feels heavy. And that heaviness makes me so sad because I don’t want to feel this way.

How did you actually get into BTS/ Kpop? I feel like I remember you saying you’ve been a fan for like 10 years?
Yes, I found Kpop bc my god brother is a English teacher....but as in he teaches English in other countries! He knew how much I loved me some Nsync BSB and etc so when he found Kpop he told me!
I tech don’t consider myself a Stan/BTS account by the way....and that’s why they’re not mentioned in my username.
I’ve been on and off the site since 2011 because I’ve always loved writing. Then of course when I graduated and my life got busy I took about a 3 1/2 year break.... until November 2018... I was looking for inspiration and my Pinterest recommended a mood board Which had a Jimin and Yoongi edit. At the time I knew who they were I think I saw them on Jimmy Fallon as well but I wasn’t even really a fan then but I felt inspired by the picture to just write a casual AU smut drabble.... (I think my REAL first drabble is on private joe actually)
Then once I started getting request for BTS content I actually started looking into them to see if this is a group that I even would want to get to know enough to write about on a more personal level! Meaning I’d be able to full from their personalities even while making a completely fictional characters!
obviously the boys are very lovable so I technically became a fan on accident! I am 25 so I don’t have the free time I did back in high school to be super into a group which is why if you ask me who I “stan”
Kpop wise it would be like EXO/Shinee/BigBang ETC..... Thoes are the group that I could tell you a bunch of stuff about/their members where as BTS...
Of course I love the boys and I could tell you basic but if you try to quiz me on their idol profile or shit like that I will probably fail LOL this fandom is very young and there is a lot of drama so I kind of have learned to just follow the music and that’s about it I watch a couple interviews here and their tune into some Vlives but that’s about it! I’m happier that way. I know enough about them that I feel like I can comfortably write about them and pull from who we “see” but I don’t consider myself a stan.

Just finished watching the album release party on YouTube for the Backstreet Boys new album DNA. I want 3 things right now. 1 to be 13 again (I'm 31 so close) 2 a record store to fall from the sky so I can have the joy of going and buying the new CD and 3 to write smutty BSB fan fiction again. Because fuck do they still look good.

Bughead Family Discord Member Spotlight
Tumblr media
This week the spotlight is on Cat ( @shibbycat ), our newest admin! Click the read more link below to get to know our member!
Spotlight by Mila, @jughead-jones | Graphic by Katie, @betty-cooper
Cat | @shibbycat
Name: Cat
Age: I’m old enough to own a Sega Genesis bought in a store the year it was released, and yes. I still play it.
Location: Northern Italy for the time being, but I’m prone to moving quite bit.
Any other languages aside from English people can contact you in?: I can do some conversational Spanish, and I can have Eric (my husband) tell me what you’re saying in Russian.
Favourite Riverdale characters and ships?: What gave you the impression that I like Riverdale or its ships? JK. Shockingly, I’m all about that Bughead. ALL about it. I care about most of the characters & their successes/failures… with Betty, Jughead, Veronica & Cheryl in the lead.
Favourite moments from S1 & S2?: Wow. Talk about a Sophie’s Choice. Here goes nothing. I legit yelled at my screen during The Look in 1x02, “omG. IT’S HAPPENING.” My childhood ship was exhumed. Best day. The dynamic between Jughead & FP in 1x07 rang particularly true to me. I also took away that Jughead talks about Jellybean like she’s his kid, not his sister. It guts me every single time. The end bit where Betty & Jughead walk away together really demonstrated how close they already were as a couple. Bonus for that being the scene where it clicks with Archie his two best friends were 5000% together, & their friendships was never going to be the same. It’s a small moment but I love it. Picking one thing from Season 2??? Co-Presidents. The absolute equality in their relationship was so perfectly on point here for me. The support and respect for one another was on display in blinking neon lights. WAIT. The hospital scene. I can’t leave it off. Jughead “I’ll never stop loving you” Jones almost gets murdered & only feels bad about not being there for Betty. All that matters to Betty is Jughead getting better. Plus, down-the-face kisses. I can’t with these two.
What are your hopes for S3?: I’m really hoping to see more of a focus on the friendships. I want to see them all work together in general & specifically, to defeat Hiram. We got to see an entire season of Hiram doing nothing but succeeding in his various nefarious causes & successfully pitting Bughead/Varchie against one another. Seeing his takedown at the hands of those whose lives & relationships he thought destroyed as they’re instead working together? Yes. Very yes. I’m of course beyond stoked for the Bughead Detective Agency & them working/growing together in their relationship & lives. Some actual fun times would be great to see. Yano, ones that don’t end in someone getting murdered or going to jail.
Other fandoms you’re into?: Besides Riverdale, I only exist in lurker status (thanks anxiety!) for fandoms, but I lurk(ed) super hard in Harry Potter (Except that I’ve totally written terrible HP fic. Really happy no one’s going to read this to know that), Reylo, Doctor Who, & Sherlock.
What are some of your favourite movies/TV?: Besides the obvious, just about everything Disney touches owns my pocketbook, dedication & continued attention. Parks & Rec, The Office (both UK & US), Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gilmore Girls, Doctor Who, Star Trek: TNG, & Sherlock are all shows I can watch on repeat. I’m not even going to start on non-Disney movies, because I’ll be here all day.
Favourite books?: This is literally the most difficult question to answer, because books are life. I’m going to keep it brief & say “Harry Potter.” They changed my life, they saved my life, & they’re always there to welcome me home.
Favourite bands/musicians?: Favorites are so hard. I like a little something from most genres of music, but I can never turn off classic Elton John, BSB (I had full plans to marry Kevin as an 11 year old), Linkin Park, John Williams, Lady GaGa, Guns n Roses, The Killers, or Queen. Big picture wise, I’m particularly attached to Classic Rock, practically anything 80s, late 90s/early 2000s pop (I still know all the choreo to Bye Bye Bye & Oops... I Did It Again), The Great American Songbook, classical music, popular songs converted classical arrangements, and I’m a sucker for 1960s/70s R&B/soul. Long story short, I make a lot of playlists.
If you could live in any fictional world which one would you choose and why?: Harry Potter for sure. Wands which choose you. Broomsticks which get released like new car models. Owls which deliver mail anywhere. Portkeys/Apparating/Brooms/Floo powder making travel dirt cheap/free. Butterbeer & Pumpkin Juice. If it’s not clear, I’m really into Harry Potter. OH. I also did a HP LARP a few years ago in a Polish castle, & it was the greatest thing EVER.
Favourite food?: Oh food. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. Seriously. I travel around just to eat. Limiting to one kind? Mexican food. I could eat it everyday.
Favourite season?: Fall/winter. First of all, I like to wear a GRIP of layers. I’m also a big fan of being lazy & putting a beanie on over my unstyled (often unbrushed) hair. I’m also VERY into Halloween & Christmas. I decorate for both with gusto. Christmas goes up in my house the same day it does at Disneyland: 10 November. I’m also obsessed with Christmas Markets. So many quality Halloween/Christmas films too! I have an entire list of mandatory watches every year.
Favourite plant?: Really large sunflowers with the dark red/deep orange petals. Their seeds also demonstrate the Fibonacci sequence, and I’m a human who believes math is the most beautiful thing in the entire world.
Favourite scent?: There’s something magical smelling about old books for me. I also really enjoy the way rain smells on dry pavement when it first starts falling.
Favourite colour?: It’s been purple ever since I learned how the Phoenicians made it when I was 9.
Favourite animal?: Cats. All kinds & sizes...except Sphynxes. & unicorns. Are you a night owl, an early bird, or a vampire?: Night owl/early bird. The insomnia is strong with this one.
Place you want to visit?: I’ve been lucky enough to check a lot of places off my “must see” list, but Madagascar is still a life goal. OH! & to visit every single Disney park around the world.
Do you have pets? If you do, tell us a little about them: Ah! Something I LOVE talking about. I have 3 incredibly spoiled cat children who want to cuddle all the time. That’s right. Cat loves cats. They’re all rescues, Maine Coons, and little characters to be sure. Their names are Dorcas, Knick Knack, & Elmo. We’ve had Dorky for 10 years and Elmo & Knick Knack for 9 years. Knick Knack likes to walk on a leash & paws at the door for his walk. Dorcas plays fetch with toy mice, and Elmo likes to cuddle so hard Eric is genuinely worried I’ll be suffocated by his snuggles.
Tell us a little about yourself?: My grandma once told me that I’ve always known exactly who I am, even as a child, and I’ve let that sense-of-self guide me (not always to greatness mind you) every day. I’m an introvert with fairly crippling anxiety & depression, and I simply don’t care who knows it. If me being upfront about it can help anyone, I’m happy to do it. I’m hypercritical of myself & what I put out into the world. Being frank, honest, and sarcastic are how I say “hello,” but I’m also a firm believer in “don’t say something rude just to say something rude.” Tact is key. Encouraging people to find their own happiness & fulfillment in life are things which bring me joy. Likewise, I’d do pretty much anything for a friend, & if there’s something I can do to help them/help someone in their journey to find happiness in life, I want to do it. Uuuummm, I laugh so hard I cry a lot, and my eyeliner runs. It always makes people think I’ve been crying for real & filled with emotions. It’s awkward. I guess I’m creative? I like woodworking, pyrography, crafting, and making nerd stuff through those mediums.
Fun or weird fact about you?: I entered my wedding reception to “The Imperial March.” It’s safe to say I’ve been a wee bit obsessed with Star Wars for longer than my Sega Genesis is old.

A chill rose into the air as October settled in, the feeling of magic and mystery filled the air as Halloween excitement began to approach. Vicki hung dangling spiders over the bar at the diner as Marla taped up paper decorations of jack-o-lanterns and black cats in the windows. The bells jingled as the door opened.
"Hey" Brian said coming in.
"Oh hey" Vicki said climbing down from a ladder "Can I get you something?" she asked as he sat at the bar.
"Oh a soda I guess, actually I came here to ask you something" he said as she filled a glass with soda for him. "Em and J are dragging me to a pumpkin patch on Friday, want to come keep me company?" he asked.
"Oh yeah that sounds fun" Vicki said to him "One condition though" she said leaning on the counter.
"Oh here we go" he said as they laughed.
"No come on, if I pick one out will you help me carve it?" she asked sweetly.
"I'd be honored" he said as they laughed.
"Then sure, I'll go."
"Great" he said putting money onto the counter, she counted it and looked at him.
"A soda's only a buck fifty" she said.
"I know" he said before leaving.
"Well..." Marla said coming out from the kitchen "You two have gotten awfully cozy" she said.
"He's my friend" Vicki said shrugging, Marla laughed. "He is" Vicki said to her.
"Okay" Marla said to her "But just off the record, I think you two look really cute together" Marla said as Vicki untied her apron.
"You sound like my mother" Vicki said pulling her coat on and grabbing her backpack.
"I'll see you tomorrow?" Marla asked.
"As always" Vicki said.
"Night Juliet" Marla said, as Vicki looked back at her and shook her head.
~*~
That Friday, Emily and Vicki walked through the rows of plump pumpkins.
"Oh look at this one" Emily cooed picking up a small pumpkin "So cute" she said.
"I think I saw Jason eyeing a huge one back there."
"Well that's Jason, always compensating for something" Emily said as they laughed.
"Hey" Brian said appearing with two Styrofoam cups "Got you some hot chocolate" he said handing her one.
"Oh thanks" she said taking it.
"So cold out tonight" Emily said.
"Its freezing" Vicki said.
"You cold?" Brian asked, Vicki nodded and he slipped his coat off and put it around her.
"Thanks" Vicki said to him, he smiled at her.
"Oh my god, that was so adorable" Emily said "Didn't know you were so chivalrous" she said walking away from them.
"Aren't you going to be cold?" Vicki asked.
"I'm wearing three sweaters, losing a layer won't hurt me" he said.
"Thanks for waiting guys" Jason said as he pulled a wagon behind him.
"Jason look how cute" Emily said showing him the small pumpkin.
"Em, I cannot carve my masterpiece on that" Jason said to her.
"Your masterpiece?" Brian asked.
"Yes, I'm doing the house from Nightmare on Elm Street" Jason said proudly.
"I didn't know you were so artistic" Vicki said to him.
"He's not" Emily said dropping the pumpkin into the wagon.
"I saw this pumpkin up here that's perfect" Jason said.
"So?" Brian asked.
"I need help getting it in the wagon" Jason said, Brian sighed and rolled his eyes.
"Course you do" Brian said "I'll be back" he said to Vicki.
"Okay" she said as he and Jason walked in the opposite direction.
"So...what is going on with you two?" Emily asked.
"Em."
"Oh come on, I've seen the way he looks at you, has he kissed you yet?".
"There's been a couple of attempts."
"Oh?"
"Yeah but then something happens, someone comes into the room or there's some other distraction."
We got to get him to kiss you somehow."
"God Em, I'm not the little mermaid its not that big of a deal."
"Yes it is."
"What are you going to do? Round up a bunch of animals and sea creatures and have them sing?" Vicki asked as they laughed.
"If I could do that, I so would" Emily said laughing "So what are you doing after this? Want to come over and watch a movie or something?" Emily asked.
"Can't, I actually made him promise me he'd help me carve the pumpkin I picked."
"That is so adorable" Emily said "Maybe tonight will be the night" Emily said "Remember you turn back into a mermaid if he doesn't kiss you" Emily said as they laughed.
~*~
Vicki quickly opened the front door as Brian carried the pumpkin into the kitchen.
"This thing weighs a ton" he said setting it on the kitchen table.
"Its the perfect jack-o-lantern size" Vicki said to him.
"There we go" he said putting on the table, he rolled his sleeves up.
"Here you go" she said handing him a carving knife.
"Whoa, going all Michael Myers on me here" he said, she laughed."
"I wouldn't kill you, you're too cute" she said putting an apron on.
"Well, thank you" he said plunging the knife into the pumpkin. He cut the top off and pulled it off by the stem "Look at all that" he said about the goo that was attached.
"Gross" Vicki said as she rolled her sleeves up.
"Okay, go ahead" he said to her.
"Excuse me?" she asked.
"Stick your hands in and scoop the goo out."
"Now why would I want to take that away from you, please" she said.
"Oh no ladies first."
"Now you pick the time to be a gentleman."
"Hey!" he said sticking his hand inside the pumpkin and wiping his finger on her nose, her mouth dropped.
"Oh you did not want to do that to the girl with the knife in her hands" she said to him.
She put dishwashing gloves on and reached into the pumpkin.
"Blech" she said taking all the innards out and setting them on a piece of newspaper.
"Yeah get in there" he said looking into the pumpkin, she smeared some of the pumpkin on his cheek and smiled at him, he looked at her shocked "Oh that's it" he said grabbing the pumpkin innards and wrapping his arm around her waist.
"No!" she squealed while he held her, they laughed "No stop it!" she squealed while laughing.
"You little..." he said as he put the pumpkin innards back on the paper.
"You are so mean" she said handing him a towel.
"You started it."
"I did not, you did!" she said as she wiped the bridge of her nose off.
Vicki then put a small candle inside and lit it.
"Well?" she asked as it glowed in the living room window.
"Perfect" he said, the clock chimed "Wow" he said "I should probably go" he said grabbing his coat.
"Thanks for inviting me" she said to him.
"Course" he said, they looked at each other and he slowly leaned into her when the lights flicked on.
"Oh hello" Lizzie said coming in the front door.
"Night" he said shaking her hand.
"Night" she said as he left "Thanks mom" Vicki said to her.
"Did I interrupt something?" Lizzie asked "Sorry honey" she said "Wow look at that" she said spotting the jack-o-lantern in the front window.
"We made it."
"You two carved a pumpkin together? Oh that is so cute" Lizzie said.
"Night mom" Vicki said in annoyance as she stomped up the stairs.
~*~
The next afternoon Vicki lied on Emily's bed.
"So he was about to kiss you when your mom walked in?" Emily asked.
"Yeah and then he shook my hand" Vicki said to her, Emily laughed.
"Such a goofball" Emily said.
Brian lied on the futon in Jason's basement.
"So? What happened at Vicki's last night?" Jason asked him.
"She rubbed pumpkin guts on my face" Brian said sullenly.
"Weird but I like it" Jason said.
"God I'm so stupid!" Brian moaned.
"It's very simple to kiss a girl all you do is lean in and go for it" Jason said to him.
"Yeah I'm aware, her mom walked in."
"Ooh, now I see your problem."
"What do I do now?"
"You stop whining, you're getting on my nerves."
"Oh I'm sorry" Brian said sarcastically.
"You look sad" Emily said.
"Well I guess I just got my hopes up is all" Emily made a sad face and pulled her close.
"I'm sorry."
"Its okay."
"I have an idea, lets go downtown and pick out our costumes for the Halloween dance."
"I don't know I don't think I'm going" Vicki said.
"What? Of course you are" Emily said to her.
"He hasn't officially asked me" Vicki said to her.
"Then I'll be your date, come on it'll be fun, besides its Halloween" Emily said.
"Okay, why not" Vicki said.
"Great" Emily said as they left her room.
They walked through the rows of costumes, Emily slung some over her arm as Vicki continued to flip through the racks.
"Find anything?" Emily asked.
"Not yet" Vicki said to her "What time is it?" she asked.
"Almost five" Emily said to her.
"I have to be at work in ten minutes, I'll see you later" Vicki said rushing out of the shop.
Brian sat at the counter waiting for her, he heard the bells jingle as she rushed in.
"Hey" she said.
"Hey" he said to her "Your mom told me you were working today" he said.
"What's up?" she asked tying her apron around her waist.
"Uh you know the Halloween dance at school next weekend?" he asked.
"I've heard of some dance, yes" she said as they laughed.
"Uh so I was wondering will you be my date for the Halloween dance on Saturday?" he asked, she smiled "What?" he asked.
"Nothing, just the way you asked, it was cute."
"Oh, thanks" he said "So?" he asked.
"I'd love to" she said.
"Great" he said smiling at her.
~*~
"I have the best news ever" Vicki said lying on her bed as she talked to Emily on the phone.
"Dish" Emily said to her.
"Guess who asked me to the Halloween dance today?" she asked.
"Keanu Reeves?" Emily asked.
"I wish, no, when I got to work Brian was sitting at the counter waiting for me and he asked me."
"See? Now you most definitely need a costume" Emily said to her "And I think I found you the perfect one."
"Oh yeah?" Vicki asked.
"Yep, I got it for you, its here in my room" Emily said.
"Em, you didn't have to do that."
"Vicki it was the one."
"You don't even know if it'll fit."
"Its your size exactly."
"I'll be right over" Vicki said hanging up the phone and getting off of her bed.
"Ready?" Emily asked handing her the garment bag, Vicki took it from her and hung it from the closet door, she unzipped it and pulled the bag off. It was a long white Renaissance type gown with wide bell sleeves and gold lace bordering the edges.
"Wow" Vicki said as she looked at it "Its beautiful, but what's it supposed to be?" she asked Emily, she smirked.
"Juliet".
"Course" Vicki said to her as she laughed "You would" Vicki said taking it from the door.
"I'm sorry but as soon as I saw it I thought you would look so amazing in it".
"One problem how do we get Brian to dress as Romeo?" Vicki asked.
"Consider it taken care of, I can be pretty persuasive."
"Are you kidding me?!" Brian asked as he looked in the mirror wearing a feathered cap.
"Oh come on, its just a costume."
"I'm not wearing tights!" he said annoyed.
"Come on do it for Vicki."
"What does she have to do with this? She's not making me dress up like an idiot."
"She's Juliet" he stopped and looked at her.
"Juliet?"
"Yeah, now stop whining about tights and just wear the costume!" she said before stomping out of his room.
"Em..." he said going after her "I will wear the costume but one word out of Jason's mouth..."
"I will handle Jason okay?"
"Fine, alright I guess you can call me Romeo" Emily squealed in excitement and hugged him "Alright" he said.
"I promise you will not regret this" she said.
"I better not" he said as she went down the steps.
~*~
On Saturday night, Vicki and Emily got ready for the dance at Vicki's house, Emily sat at the vanity, trying to get her make up just right.
"Well?" Vicki asked coming out from the bathroom.
"Oh honey" Lizzie said to her "You look so beautiful."
"See? I told you it was perfect" Emily said to her.
"I got to admit I really like this" Vicki said when the doorbell rang.
"Oh wow Romeo and Batman, right on time" Emily said as she stood up from the vanity, Jason tried hard to keep his giggles to himself, Brian looked at him angrily.
"Jason I swear to god..." Brian said.
"Sorry, sorry" Jason said trying not to burst into laughter.
"Shut up" Brian said when the door opened.
"Well look at you guys" Lizzie said letting them into the house.
"Mrs McAdams" Jason said to her.
"Girls! They're all ready" she said.
Emily came down first "There's my cat woman" Jason said grabbing her closely.
"Hey" Vicki said coming down the steps, Brian turned to look at her.
"Wow" he said approaching the stairs. He took his hat off and held her hand before kissing it. "You look really beautiful" he said.
"Thanks" she said before coming down the steps.
"Okay kids, picture" Lizzie said to them.
"Mom" Vicki groaned.
"Oh come on just one" Lizzie said to her "Smile" she said as the flash went off "Okay kids have a great time tonight" she said as they left.
~*~
Music pounded off the gym walls as kids gathered around, a disco ball twirling around in the air.
"Here's your punch Lisa" Erica said handing her a cup.
"Finally" Lisa said angrily taking it from her.
"Didn't I tell you to keep your eyes out for Brian?" she asked Megan.
"Sorry" Megan said hanging her head in shame.
"Oh my god there he is" Lisa said "And look who he brought" she said as she saw Vicki.
Her eyes then locked on their hands which were held tightly together, she scowled and went over to him.
"Hey" she said grabbing onto Brian's arm as he walked in.
"Oh hey" he said to her.
"Great costume...what are you supposed to be?" she asked.
"Oh uh Romeo" he said, she looked at him confused "Romeo and Juliet?" he asked as she continued to look confused "Shakespeare?" he asked again.
"Oh...well it suits you" she said.
"Thanks, you look great too as Madonna...again" he said.
"Thanks, want to dance?" she asked.
"Maybe some other time I'm actually here with someone, see you later" he said taking two cups and walking away from her, she watched as he went over to Vicki.
She groaned and fished a shiny silver flask from her clutch purse and poured it into the cup of punch, Megan and Erica rolled their eyes at her and slowly moved away from her.
"Lisa, drowning your sorrows I see" Emily said filling a cup with punch.
"So Brian and your new little friend have certainly become chummy" she said in disdain.
"Chummy?" Emily asked "Lisa don't you think its time you gave up that delusional fantasy of yours? Let it go" she said walking away.
Lisa squealed again in anger.
"Lisa, what are you doing?" Erica asked as she filled cup with punch to the brim.
"Come on girls" she said as they walked across the gym.
"Lisa..." Erica said.
"What's going on? What is she doing?" Megan asked.
"She has officially lost it" Erica said as they reluctantly followed behind her.
She crossed the gym, careful not to spill any of the punch from the cup once she got close enough she attempted to throw it all over Vicki's perfectly white gown. Instead she got doused in sticky red liquid, she squealed.
"Oh I am so sorry" Jason said to her "Here let me..." he said trying to dab her down with napkins.
"Don't touch me!" she growled before storming out of the gym.
"Oh my god" Emily said.
"What just happened here?" Vicki asked.
"Karma really must be a bitch" Emily said laughing.
When I'm With You by Sherriff began to fill the gym as the lights went down and the disco ball reflected off of the floor.
"Care to dance?" Brian asked holding his hand out.
"Sure" she said taking it, he lead her to the dance floor.
"Have I mentioned you look really pretty tonight?" he asked as they danced.
"Yeah, couple of times actually" she said as she rested her head on his shoulder. He looked over at Emily and Jason who ushered him to kiss her, he waved them off and they kept dancing.
The dance soon ended and they wound up back in Vicki's living room.
~*~
"Mom? I'm home" she called out as they came into the house "She must be asleep or something" she said.
"You have fun tonight?"
"Yeah, seeing Lisa become a low rent Carrie was actually pretty amusing" she said, they laughed.
"Well I guess I should go."
"Okay, night."
"Night" he said before leaving.
He stood on the porch, Vicki took the veil from her head and set it on the banister, he thought a second before going back in.
"Vicki" he said "I forgot something" he said to her.
"What'd you forget?" she asked confused.
"I uh...I forgot this" he said pulling her close to him and kissing her softly.
"Wow" she said as they parted.
"Yeah that was..."
"Great" Vicki said to him.
"Thanks for not slapping me" he said, she laughed.
They looked at each other before reconnecting and kissing sweetly as Lizzie looked on from the top of the stairs.

15. 31.
Thanks so much for the ask, Anon! :)  I was hoping I would get a few of these.
15) What’s the weirdest fandom you’ve ever written for?
Probably the oddest thing I’ve written fan fiction for would be Backsteet Boys and *N Sync fan fics. (I know you’re probably shaking your head at how ridiculous that sounds just reading it off your screen, but it’s true!) Anyway, I was OBSESSED with Backstreet Boys in particular, and I wrote a fair number of oneshots and a couple of MCs starring them and the regular girls who fell in love with them.  What can I say? I’m a teenybopper full of fluff!
Tumblr media
31) Do you have any OCs? Tell us about them!
In my fan fic written these days, no, I don’t tend to develop any OCs. My (pretty much) only fandom to write for is OuaT, and there are SO MANY wonderful characters to work with already that I haven’t found a need to create more at this point. (Plus, embarrassingly, when I would usually create an OC, it would most often be a sort of imaginary substitute for me to meet my favorite fandom character and fall in love. In the case of OuaT, Killian and Emma are already a True Love OTP and I wouldn’t create someone to get in the way of that!)
Now that normal girl who somehow captured AJ’s heart in my old BSB fics? That’s a whole other story.... ;)

If you weren’t at Walker Stalker this past weekend in Atlanta, then you seriously missed out.
And by the size of Nick Carter’s autograph and photo lines, there weren’t many fans that did miss out. Fans came from all over – Kentucky, New York, New Jersey, California, Canada, hell, even Italy (heeeey boo!). The line on Nick’s booth were always long, longer than the actual zig zag barriers that they had set up.
To say the least, Mr. Carter was more popular than Walker Stalker expected. I mean, really, they should have known.
Each time I went through, Nick always cracked up because I just kept coming back. The first time he made a sweet video for my Mom after asking how I had been doing and then asked about her.
The video @nickcarter did for my mama. ❤️ #nickcarter #wscatlanta #backstreetboys #bsb #myboo

My future tattoo
Nick was so accommodating to fans, whether it was filming videos for friends that couldn’t make it, to recording voice mail messages for phones (lookin’ at you Mara and Julia) or trying not to screw up a tattoo.
I’ve decided to get “My Confession” tattooed and I asked Nick to write it out on the back of my autographed photo. When I told him what I wanted, he smiled as if he knew how important those words were to me. Not only is it my favorite solo song of his, but it was the name of my old site (the URL leads to the fan fiction housed here on this site). The site made me fall in love with writing, which between that and him, lead me to my career as a journalist. Plus, “I’m here with my confession,” is my favorite line from a Backstreet Boys song. It’s where I got the name of my old site, before his song came out.
So at some point soon, I’m going to get that tattoo.
Not once during the entire day did I see Nick look tired of talking with fans. Hell, each time I went up there, we talked about something different … even to me telling me how I became a fan almost 20 years ago, which caused him to laugh.
Yes, I told him about the Grad Nite “am I sexual?” thing. He cracked up, hugging me yet again.
One of the highlights of the day though was at the end of his time at Walker Stalker, Carrie and I had pretty much organized a group photo with a bunch of Nick fans who had been at his booth. We had pretty much stuck around there all day talking to people so most people knew about it. So his convention manager had Nick come to do a quick photo with a bunch of us and took the photos with my camera.
Seeing and meeting fans that I had only talked to online this weekend was really one of my most favorite parts. I needed this weekend like nothing else and being with my best friends, being with some new close friends and all the new friends that I’ve only talked to on Twitter .. putting faces to Twitter names, it was just… amazing.
Nick Carter, thank you for coming to Atlanta. Thank you for not even looking at my post-it with my name and knowing how to spell it without me even saying anything. Thank you for understanding my fangirling about Ethan Embry being next to your booth. Thank you for introducing me to the best friends a girl could ever have. Thank you for being you.
Thank you for everything.
P.S. If you got a picture with me at Walker Stalker, tweet it to me @Princess_Karah <3<3

Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles Special (Spring 1991)
This was a 48 page paperback book, released by Grandreams & worked upon by the artists & writing style frequently associated with Fleetway publishing. It's not as easy to track down as either of the 2 Turtles Annuals, released before & after, so slipped under the radar on store bookshelves when released. Which is a shame as its certainly superior to the 1st Annual & could have had the promotional tagline "what we should have put out as an Annual."
There's 2 comic strip stories. The 1st "High Rise Heist" apparently has Raph scared of heights, which he must overcome to take down some robbers on flying helicraft devices. The 2nd "Stranger Than Fiction" has Shredder try to desert New York, by staging a fake alien Invasion. Absurd when considering his technology is provided by the alien Krang. But at 4 pages its memorable & self deprecating enough with its humour.
The best story "Shadow Of The Ninja" is mostly a text story, where a mysterious figure is going after the Shredder & the Footbots. It turns out to be a former student of Splinters from when he was a human, out to avenge the dishonoured Foot clan. The cartoon & even the more serious Archie comics never addressed what happened to the Foot after Shredder manipulated control, particularly as his version ended up in name only with robots. So it was suprising to bring human element to the Foot.
With that story split in 2, the rest of the special has profiles on the Turtles & a photo album of promotional appearances, which was even dated by 1991, due to the inclusion of failed Sky competitors BSB.
While this Special may show its age now, it would have been a constant re-read for Turtles fans back in the 90s.

Fandom
Rather than add onto other posts I’m seeing or ramble in tags, I decided to write something. I’ve probably said this before, but I haven’t been here long- only since after hiatus began. I saw things about the Another Man photoshoot as my first glimpse, then I saw things about Larry from another fandom, months later randomly read a Larry fic while bored, saw more and more posts, then watched @freddieismyqueen videos, and became a Larrie. I was a Larrie first before I was a One Direction fan.
I’m an optimist, an idealist, and a hopeless romantic who was beginning to give up on the idea of true love, especially for myself. I was having lots of fun in other fandoms with fictional pairings from novels, but was dead-set against shipping real life people. Then I saw enough to realize I would be supporting an existing relationship, not some fantasy pairing. I saw them showing their love for each other in every possible way they could, against every obstacle. I saw them making the best of an impossible situation time and again, and being thankful to everyone who supported them along the way. I saw two boys grow up together and grow in love for each other. I saw them inspire untold compassion, strength, charity, and love in others. I saw the characters of those closest to them and how they all support and bolster each other.
I have supported many other great artists with great talent. I have never known as much about their personal lives as I do these boys. I wish I didn’t know the things I do now about how ugly fame can be. But I’m hoping that by supporting these artists, we can inspire change for the better. Make it more about the music. Encourage kindness and good character, but not at the expense of creating false images. Encourage humanity, which is flawed, but ultimately beautiful. No one needs to be more interesting than they already are. Life is hard enough without piling on drama.
I said before that I was a Larrie before I was a One Direction fan. I discovered that I loved several One Direction songs long before I knew they were theirs. The only one I knew was What Makes You Beautiful. I didn’t look into the band because they were some British boy band and I was 27 and had lived through BSB and ‘NSync, etc. I didn’t know that these boys were different and how much I was missing. I also fell in love with Story of my Life, but had no idea it was them. Had I known, I would have been here much sooner. Had TPTB done a better job focusing on the music, I would have known that Harry was one of the ones singing one of my favorite songs and not just the name of the latest random soon-to-be-subject-of-a-Taylor-Swift-song. True, infuriating story.
So, that’s why I’m here, and why I’ll still be here: in defiance of those who tried to keep me from a band who is now one of my favorites, in anger for how they were all treated on their path to stardom, in love for all the boys because they are great artists and just great humans, and in gratitude for a fandom that reached out to me and has brought me so much love, joy, and faith in humanity. Thank you and love you all. 💕
