I don't have enough brain cells awake right now but I don't want to lose this thought re: a.licent & a.egon.
a.egon is the only one of her kids that isn't just hers. he belonged to the realm the second he was born. he's not her first born, he's the first born son of the king. which is already a lot but then everyone around her is whispering about him needing to be on the throne & her dad basically convinces her that her whole family will die if he's not crowned king. and there is the obvious resentment of motherhood and the added pressure of becoming a mom at 17/18 years old (diabolical) but it makes her behavior towards a.egon make more sense. i don't condone it but i can see why his transgressions and irresponsibility would irritate her more than the other kids. why she would love him so, so deeply but struggle with him so much at the same time. she's so devoted to him but that devotion feels suffocating sometimes.
he's so young and deserves to be young but she was also young and never got that luxury. he never asked to a) be born, b) be born a boy or c) be the first born but he WAS and IS and she can't get him to take that seriously. she'll stare down a dragon to protect him but can't just say the words 'i love you' when he asks. there are just many threads to pull at here

Just saw a TikTok complaining about ‘kitten’ as a pet name in fanfiction and while I do agree with/understand their discomfort on that one the comments were FULL of people mentioning all the other common pet names ?? Like honey babe baby sweetheart etc ?? Is your partner just supposed to call you by your name the whole time ????????

Oda, inventing Water 7: so it's like Venice, but multi-tiered and full of shipwrights
Editor: are the shipwrights fuckable?
Oda: they're SO fuckable and everyone in town wants them carnally. also the CIA is there.

the thing about steve harrington is that he's one of the most compelling characters of all time. he starts the show an extremely popular jock and now he's got two friends: a girl he had a crush on that turned out to be a lesbian and a fourteen year old. the only fight he's ever won in his life was against a soviet spy. he keeps a bat full of nails in his car. he barely graduated high school. he beat up a racist. he's terrible at flirting. he has daddy issues. he spends an entire season wearing a little sailor outfit, hat included. and he's even bisexual

forever obsessed with dynamics between vampires, specifically that of a maker and fledgling, as a way to explore abuse. the creation of a vampire itself can so easily be a literalization of the lasting impacts of trauma and also much more simply the ways a perpetrator might shape their victim’s very identity. the extremes of isolation in the way that the new vampire, in most narratives, must cut all ties to their mortal life, or else go through an elaborate charade to maintain the facade of humanity, while forever still being removed from it. and the sheer dependence and vulnerability of being in an entirely new state of being, wholly uncertain of what it entails, and relying on another person to define… everything.
