Rewatched Princess and the Frog tonight: it’s got some GREAT moments, but it’s overall just fine. (With a few glaring issues but . Yeah 💚)

Ok first off the visuals are really great. I’m still sad Disney basically destroyed their 2D animation department after this movie. And also Pooh but whatever. The characters are so expressive and it’s really cool :)

I especially liked this style change during one of the songs :] it was unique!

Very beautiful visually and it focuses on being extravagant and fun! Which yknow sometimes you need something like that. But it’s also really really. Really surface level and sanitized 1920s New Orleans. Cuz like yeah it’s a Disney movie- they obviously care more about making it child appropriate than time period accurate

It had this whole ‘it doesn’t matter if you’re Black or white we’re all equal!’ thing going on and?? Pretending racism doesn’t exist outside of MAYBE TWO LINES is kind of fucked especially when your movie discusses class differences with rich Prince Naveen (who is from a made up country also) and working class Tiana. This is definitely an issue they could’ve dove more into but they were like. “Nooooo only a few white guys landlords are bad and rude... The black guy chef was also mean to her !” THATS VERY STRANGE. STOP PRETENDING LIKE ITS A “BOTH SIDES CAUSE THE PROBLEM” ISSUE GUHHHHHHHH

Not to mention Tiana is an absolute workaholic and they never really explicitly denounce that as a bad thing. Like sure Naveen is like "maybe you should chill out more" but she was working TWO JOBS AT ONCE, BARELY SLEEPS, and almost NEVER spends time for herself 😭 And it doesn't affect her performance at all?? Maybe Shes Just Awesome But IDK. They frame it as "shes such a hard worker! and if you work hard, everything will turn out ok!" which is a nice sentiment but not realistic. It being a kids movie doesnt make it exempt from criticsm cuz little kids watching it might get the expectation that working yourself to the bone is normal, when in reality that can be really dangerous. Basically Tiana Deserves A Fuckign Break

Anyways im dissing this movie way too much LOL. It does a lot right but I'm only focusing on the issues </3 I really admire Tiana's perseverance despite being overworked as Fuck and her ability to refocus on what's important to her, that being her family and her restaurant. ❤️ Also the whole ‘turning black person into cute marketable creature” trope thing unfortunately tries to push that issue away even further. So basically this movie follows a lot of bad tropes and the 2nd half when they become frogs slows the movie down quite a bit. Not that it was bad, it was just a different direction that was Arguably Less Interesting. although it gets points for being furry media (technically) I will not deny that.

this movie is 20% about a working class black woman facing adversity and 80% about frog romance. sorry

Best character alert?!?!!⚠️⚠️⚠️ Like yeah obviously it’s Dr Facilier he sort of carries the whole movie. EASILY the best musical number of the whole film and Friends on the Other Side is one of the best Disney villain songs PERIOD!!!!

You can tell they had so much fucking fun making this scene and I love that so much 💚💜

Sentient evil shadow that can interact with the real world?? Cool as FUCK. Shady deals with the shadow realm that inevitably turn against him?? SIGN ME THE FUCK UP!!!!!! WHAT A COOL DEATH… Although there is the fact his black magic is a wide & inaccurate mishmash of different cultural practices to make him appear more Spooky and Evil TM. Is he good representation ? Who am I to say. People love him anyways.

(Maybe it was done that way to make him appear like a ‘Jack of all trades’ or like he’s dabbling in multiple practices when he’s not supposed to, getting him in dangerous business with the “shadow realm.” But that still doesn’t justify it)

Very petty complaint but i was watching this together with my friend who does tarot. As far as I know, NONE of his tarot cards Make Real Sense or have any correlating meaning with what number they are (except for The Tower, which was when he said Naveen’s funds were low.) it’s not like the average audience member knows tarot, but would’ve been cool if they went that extra mile :’)

Louis was perfect and I have no complaints. Just a big goofy guy AND he’s so talented ! 2nd best character easily

Ok. OKAY FINE I ended up liking Ray more than I expected. [BOOOOOOOOOOO] HEY. I’m just saying He was a happy little fellow. I might be stupid. I don’t think he ever Caused Problems for the main cast which would’ve made him more annoying . But also how wasn’t he Squashed to a pulp LOL. YOU LITERALLY HEAR HIM SQUISH … THEY SHOULDVE HAD A SHOT WITH HIS GUTS EVERYWGERE ON THE PAVEMENT !!!!!! 🙄 I was not attached to him but I didn’t hate him.

Those 3 slapstick frog hunters were an absolutely useless threat. Facilier’s shadows were JUST established to be after them and that was enough of a threat!! The hunters ONLY existed for cheap comic relief and for Naveen and Tiana to bond and become heterosexual frogs 💔 WORST CHARACTERS !!!!!!!!!! I HATE CHILDREN’S MOVIES !!!!!!!!!

Naveen kind of sucks but at least he learned how to suck less through mincing mushrooms <3 yeah that’s called a character arc 😲’if I can learn how to mince you can learn how to dance’ IT WAS SORT OF CUTEE OK.

Ok I’m getting tired. Bird critique: when they arrived in the bayou for the first time they played Laughing Kookaburra calls. No offense but I dont think this native Australian bird belongs in southern Louisiana and It’s Actually Quite Lost

Anyways the movie is FINE. I probably wouldn’t rewatch it but Dr Facilier is awesome Also i watched this video and i liked it teehee

All there really was to do was stare out of the window, so she did.

It brought her little comfort. It was always midnight beyond the planets of the Grey, and Remony had never known such utter dark in all her life. The sun had shrunk to a meaningless star in their rear lights, one of many, and ahead of them was the frosty expanse of Cold Welcome, but for the past month there had been nothing.

They’d passed the dwarf planet of Mattari a week after passing Veritas; a grey and brown dead thing hanging in the sky like a rotten carcass rumoured to once have been an asteroid from near San Trevira, and since then they’d left the Grey behind properly.

There was a reason why the Grey had never been expanded in this section of space, more than just the experiments the Lone Survivor had made public. Between the Grey and Cold Welcome was two months of darkness, of no planets or moons, only the void of space. Gemini and Castor could have made more Hangars as their little front lines, but they’d be the front lines against the deep unknown. It had been the realm of pirates long before the Hangar was ever built, and the few probes sent out returned with little show for it.

Remony couldn’t help but shudder at the thought. She’d never left the Grey before, not for the Civils and certainly never for the Deep. The furthest she’d ever travelled before Archie kidnapped her had been the journey from her home on Saltkey to Tortuga.

sure! here's a link for people who do wanna give it a watch, i really enjoyed it, she came at this topic from the perspective of someone who used to be (in her own words) a toxic demon phannie. she talked about how people like sh*ne d*wson and onionson would just mention dnp's names in their videos to get views, and she talked about how the community would sexualize or scrutinize dnp in the wildest ways, one of my favs that she brings up in the video was someone had photoshopped dan like basically on top official phil in a spooky gaming video and claimed that THIS REALLY HAPPENED GUYS I TURNED THE BRIGHTNESS UP AT THIS TIMESTAMP AND OMG which is honestly hilarious to me

i actually commented on the video about how like, dnp have always been pro-fanfiction and pro-fanart or at the very least they have never actively discouraged it, i mean they wrote their own fics in their book for christs sake and dan has admitted to reading fic multiple times lol. so like even when they were very denying of being gay and no-homo howell was a whole thing, dan still made a video about shipping (that got deleted but its out there) that was like "oh you wanna write a story abt me fucking my friend? ok fine but YOURE GONNA MAKE MY FAVORITE POKEMON GOLDEEN???" or like in the tumblr videos they would poke fun at like phil dying in fic or "why are we kissing at the radio station so unprofessional" but never hated on it or told ppl to stop which i think is interesting.

Big Mouth (빅마우스) Review & General Thoughts

I still don’t know if what I write can really be classified as reviews, but I’m going to try my best to make it coherent and spoiler free!

Before I get into talking about the show, I just want to start off by talking about what a great first project this was for Lee Jong Suk for his return after his mandatory military service! I had seen in videos from one of his fan-meets that he had talked about how difficult it was to act after what was essentially a 4 year break and how he’d almost given up and quit. I’m really glad that he didn’t because gosh did he just absolutely kill it in this show in my opinion! I can honestly say that I never would have even considered watching this show if it wasn’t for him because I’m mostly a basic person who mostly watches rom-coms.

Summary of the Show

This show is about Park Changho, a lawyer who talks a big game but actually only has a 10% win rate, earning him the nickname “Big Mouth.” After being hired to represent three guys involved in a murder case, Changho makes a mistake that leads to him being drugged and in a car crash which results in his hospitalization. Upon waking up, he is almost immediately arrested on drug charges.

However, when Changho gets interrogated, he’s surprised to discover that instead of being asked questions pertaining to the drug charges, he’s instead being interrogated for being the notorious underground crime boss known as “Big Mouse.” He winds up in prison and in order to survive in jail and protect his family, Changho must pretend to be Big Mouse, all while trying to find the real Big Mouse so he can clear his name.

The Review

Now, on to the review of the show itself!

I really loved the way this show was put together. It could have very easily been too dark as to be off-putting for me or gritty to the point that a fluffball like me would need to take breaks. I felt like they really knew how to balance things out by adding some romantic fluff flashback moments between Changho and Miho as well as some humor. These moments also 100% help you get attached to and care about the other characters more (for better or worse).

I would say that half of the fun of this show is trying to figure out who the real Big Mouse happens to be. The other half is watching Changho absolutely embody the concept of why the badger is the mascot for Hufflepuff House. Weirdest take I’ll probably make on the show lol Basically, very much a warning to not mess with good people, cuz they have claws and teeth like anyone else, they just choose not to use them unless provoked. Watching Changho absolutely own the persona that he created for his version of Big Mouse in order to survive in jail was absolutely amazing.

His wife Miho is also an absolute badass and I love her. She’s honestly a perfect match to Changho. Throughout the show, she never sat back, gave up, backed down or anything else. She was always super active in trying to prove her husband’s innocence and also solve the various mysteries that she found in her lap.

The Acting

Amazing, just amazing. Everyone was amazing. Everyone’s character was believable and gosh did they all really really bring their A game for this drama.

The OST

Next up, I want to talk about the OST! I think the majority of the OST is comprised of instrumental songs, which is by no means a bad thing in my opinion. I really loved the main theme “Brand New” by JUSTHIS (including the instrumental version). It has a wonderful spooky/eerie/ominous/mysterious vibe to it that really complimented the show and also made me actually add it to a Halloween playlist because of the vibes lol

To Watch Or Not To Watch?

The answer to this question is YES! Overall, I would say that this show is honestly an amazing ride and I recommend that you go on it even if you’re like me and prefer rom-coms. Even if you are just slightly interested in watching the show, I would say that this show is completely worth it! Just make sure to pack some tissues along for the ride, you’re probably going to need them!

it's VERY silly, LOL, but the idea was in my brain and i had to do what i always do: Just Fuckin Write It Out, Cuz U Never Know If It's Worth It™️ (but also, i consider all my scenes - whether the make The Cut (haha, funny bc it literally got cut) or not - to be an exercise in character development; we're just here to have fun, gang!!)

so....... without further aduuuuuuu:

✨the deleted scene✨

(spoiler alert?? .. idk...???? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ spoilers-ish. maybe. FEH idk)

(CONTEXT: this occurred just after James came back up from the basement and Harry's telling him about the botched bible. Unfortunately i don't seem to have whatever'd led up to this, but one can only assume that James had the Universe Brained idea to suggest that Harry go look for another bible in the library.)

“By god, we are just on the same wavelength today!” Harry exclaimed, loaded with enough petty sarcasm to burst a bat. He pushed the chair back a bit at an angle to give himself room, threw one knee over the other, and landed the topmost a good smack. “And yanno what?” Then, with the flair and wobble of a wet noodle, dropped his side into the short backing of the chair, and slung his bent elbow over its ledge, beaming at James’s unamused face. “I thought the same thing! — and even went to check!”

James stared deadpan into Harry’s fake, stretched-out smile. Facing each other with contrasting expressions like that, they looked like the famous pair of stage drama masks. He knew where this was going the moment Harry started up with his dramatic nonsense, and now that it seemed like Harry was waiting for him to take his turn, he still hadn’t decided how much freedom to be an asshole he wanted Harry to have.

His nose released a short bout of wind. “Oh dear. Oh no.” James uttered, all in a monotone that made plywood seem interesting. “Did something happen.”

“James, you are not going to believe this,” Harry began in a way so sugarcoated that James thought that if anything, the guy should consider hosting daytime TV as a backup in case his writing career ever failed, “but something. Did.”

“Oh, no.”

“Oh, yes.”

“Oh, no.”

“Oh, yes!”

“What was it.”

“Hold onto your ass, and onto your seat for this one— because they don’t. Have. One.”

James had never struggled so hard not to break character. He was so fucking close to cracking up that he was considering leaving right then and there; and yet, he bravely persisted. “Oh, no: they don’t have an ass, or a seat?”

But Harry was still talking, though. “But who [REDACTED] are of course both news to me, and totally unknown to me. It seems like you were right about your theory though, which is damn spooky, if ya ask me.”

“.. yeah,” James quietly replied. “I’m a little spooked too.”

“You sure Silent Hill didn’t give you a hint for this?”

“Not at all. — I mean, it didn’t give me a hint, or say anything about it. Honest.”

“I believe you; I’m just steppin’ on your tail for fun.”

“It’s okay.” pause “.. so what’s it mean?”

“That’s a question I’d love to answer,” he sighed, “but I got nothing. Ran into a bigger problem during all this. Look.”

“Trouble in River City - this copy of the Order bible is borked. Seemingly random too,” he elucidated, picking at dog eared pages to show James more examples, “but this seems too fucking messy, really, for it to be accidental.”

“No kidding. These were going to be shipped out to Utah in a box.”

“Jesus, you remember that?”

“What?”

“The destination. Utah.”

“Yeah, cuz I thought it was weird. It’s all Mormons over there.

“You’re sharper than a hornet on a stick; I felt the same way. But yeah; this seems fucked. The good news is that we left the box back at the police station, and we ought to head over to the Central side of Silent Hill at some point, anyway.”

“Hmm. Yeah. Good call.”

“Thanks, I made it myself.” sighs. “I think, other than that? That’s it for me; I’m beat, James.”

“Yeah.”

“Did you make any progress with the moths?”

A shrug. “I made notes. I’ll go over them with you later.”

He looked thankful. “Sounds good.”

8. What is something they cannot resist?

Hmm I guess maybe her own impulsiveness? Although that's actually kinda changing over time so it's not so much that she can't resist, moreso that it's difficult. I dunno, this feels like a strange question to answer, like how would you answer this for yourself ??? So the real answer: she can't resist adopting NPCs at the drop of a hat. Colton watch out you're next.

9. What is their favorite scent?

I don't think Selene has just one favorite? I'll give a few different ones. From her home: the ocean, cypress, and burning wood. In modern times: flower perfumes and fresh pastries.

10. If they were in a rock band, what role would they play?

Lead guitarist! Selene has played the lyre before, and while they obviously aren't the same, I think string instruments would generally interest her more. Plus she likes being the center of attention so her playing the melody would be fitting !

16. What keeps them going?

Hope and confidence! Fake it till you make it type beat. Selene figures that even if no one else believes in her, she can at least believe in herself, and that can be enough.

17. Does your character swear? What’s their favorite phrase/word?

Of COURSE Selene swears have u heard her… As for favorites. I think Selene is very particular to the usage of "asshole," but I've never actually considered it consciously? lol

27. If they were a ghost, how would they haunt in the afterlife?

She would move around your furniture and make spooky little noises. Mostly harmless! Haha unless…? I guess it would also depend on who she's haunting, because if it was like, the PRESIDENT? That guy would not be getting a harmless ghost that's for dang sure.

35. Do they consider themselves childish/mature for their age?

I don't think she really considers herself more or less childish/mature tbh. That's just not something she ever really thinks about yknow. Listen, that's Talfryn's obsession, not hers'. She's just livin her life out here.

53. What does freedom mean to them?

FUCK the government is what it means. Selene doesn't want to be constrained by others' ideas of who or how she should be. Also she's a roaming kinda gal <3 loves to wander. The facilities are basically antithetical to that entirely which is part of the reason she's against them on just a basic level. Governments that rob people of their autonomy have never been her jam (cuz yeah… the ancient Greeks did do that with women. A lot.)

65. Adoration or Intimidation?

Adoration for sure. Above all else, Selene is a charmer, although she definitely uses the power of intimidation when she really needs to! Sometimes what people need to be convinced is a good scare, and how is that her fault, huh.

Endymion

8. What is something they cannot resist?

I don't think Endymion is really a person who indulges in much so like. I can't really think of anything SORRY. I guess like… Selene in a way ?? She gets him to do things out of his comfort zone, pushes him out of his shell, gets him to say what he normally wouldn't. They're besties :) and he trusts her with that power.

10. If they were in a rock band, what role would they play?

Uhhh vocalist, perhaps ? He isn't really very musically inclined haha. Though I think he would get a bit nervous when put in the spotlight, so something like percussionist/keyboard might fit him better. If only he knew how to play either.

12. Physically, does your character feel warm or do they always feel cold?

Endymion runs hot! So it's always a little chilly for him during normal weather. That's why the Mediterranean climate fits him well, it's usually at least somewhat warm and sunny, and the winters aren't too too cold.

13. If they were a body of water, what would they be?

This is. Such an odd question to think about aslkdjglsk. Maybe like… a stream???? Not as big or intimidating as a river. Idk man it ain't that deep <- am I talking about the question or the stream? Who is to say.

35. Do they consider themselves childish/mature for their age?

Mature—he has a lot of responsibilities and has been able to basically single-handedly take care of himself and his family for over a decade. Though maturity is all subjective, and it's not something he values in himself or others. If he had a choice in the matter, he'd want to be more childish and enjoy life rather than be bogged down with worries or responsibilities. dw about his traumas <3

69. Journey or Destination?

Destination!!! Endymion is always looking ahead at the future, so living in the moment is harder for him to do. 6isms amiright. The shorter the journey the better, in his eyes.

Barely A Month Into My Hyperfixation And I'm Already Writing My Own Eddsworld FanFic

Yep, basically what the title says lol. I've been getting a lot of different ideas for fanfics of this series, some I might even adapt into scripts for audio dramas. I'm not into shipping, so there's no stuff like TomTord or other ships like that, these guys just seem really fun to write about, and I thought I could give it a shot. I've at least got an idea for a Halloween story, maybe a Monster Tom story, and one that ties back to Spares. I have no idea if I'll flesh most of these ideas out, but I've been slowly working on the Halloween story, cuz me and anything spooky is like my bread and butter. I even have some concept art for the story, literally, all the Vampire Matt stuff I've been making recently has stemmed from this Halloween story. look I SWEAR im not usually a "vibes are off" kinda guy.... but the vibes are most certainly off.

My trip began several hours before I figured it would; ar like 3:00 my boss told me i could leave at shift change. fine by me- we were dead after all. Stop home to pack, then i head up top. get there at like eight?? it was like right before sunset.

of course, before I even left for work that morning I'd reached out to someone from.. my Past Life. Current life now, I guess. He was working till 10, which gave me plenty of time to Scheme Up Some MoneyTM Well shit, that didn't take too long. Once he was off work, he had a couple things to do; this def had me worried cuz he's kind of flake. mm, actually "flake" isn't the right word. He's a Bull Shit Artist, to be sure, but hes no flake. if he sets up a mission its one that is going to benefit him, which means he'll be there. what im tryin to say is that he isn\t dumb enough to be a flake, if that makes sense.

He actually picks me up in case I "get too cooked to drive." what a gentleman lol. we then drive up to the city. as we pass the Lesser City With Worse Drugs* I looked at the skyline and thought how weird it is that I live in the country now. I uh.. kinda don't like? At the very least, I miss cities. Hell, I even miss those not quite cities-not suburbia that crops up around cities.

This was the first time I was on the Block in literal years. Hasn't changed at all. Still horrifying. I'm still weirdly numb to it.

And the Product knocked me on my fucking ass. I got 6, but only did one while we were in the city.

Side tangent here. Look, obv buying drugs off the block sucks. It scary, especially after midnight. this night was "only" 12"30. not the latest ive been there but still enough to put you on edge a bit. but that feeling when you have what you came for, you've got it in your system, and then the driver starts up the car to leave. oh man. total relief. because now, every block we pass brings us closer to the highway and a bit farther from where the Shit Goes Down. Less than five minutes after the engine starts, and we're already in a part of the City where it wouldn't feel like suicide to get out and walk around. And then you hit the highway, no more watching for cops out looking to ruin a junkies night. Soon, not even a speed trap from City Cops because you aren't in the part of the highway that's in the city limits. It's immaculate.

I don't remember if I did more that nigh, but I do know I "slept" passed out in my jeans. I did another bag at some point. basically the whole day was a blur. At one point I nodded out for three hours. I know this because Someone Special texted me and I meant to respond and it took me 3.5 hours to complete that task.

Which reminds me, if I don't get this shit under control SOON I'm going to fuck this up before it really starts and I REALLY don't want that to happen. I like this girl, and she likes me too. I'm down bad for ol' girl.

which brings me back to the bad vibes. idk, with going back to crossing lines I'd sworn off, and our government stealing half their subject's right to abortion, the loss of miranda rights, hell- my roommate said he lit a candle today and it just burned black smoke. idk, its spooky is all....

BnHA Chapter 305: Worst Intervention Ever

Previously on BnHA: Shinomori, whose name took me an entire week to memorize, was all, “nice to meet you Deku, I’m ten feet tall, do you want to know how I died?” and without waiting for an answer explained that he kicked it from old age at forty thanks to good ol’ OFA. Deku was all “wait a minute, then how come All Might, who’s fifty-five and is definitely dyeing his gray hair, is still alive?” First and Shino were all, “we really have no fucking clue but we think it’s cuz he’s quirkless, JUST LIKE YOU!” So basically, since quirkless people don’t exactly grow on trees these days, Deku is probably going to be the last user of OFA. The chapter ended with Nana being all, “psst, Deku, about my grandson. Uh, can you kill him?” which is sure to lead to a very interesting conversation this week.

Today on BnHA: Nana And The Gang are all “so, Deku, how can we put this delicately. The thing is, we’re pretty sure that AFO really fucked my grandson up, so on the off chance you can’t save him, how would you feel about, you know... [throat slitting gesture].” Deku is all “idk you guys, I kinda feel like he’s really just a traumatized child at heart and he’s in a lot of pain and stuff and so I should try to help him.” The Vestiges are all “BUT WHAT IF YOU CAN’T” and Deku is all “BUT I WANT TO TRY, DAMMIT” and the Vestiges are all “well when you put it that way, we, uh, were just testing you, so congrats, you passed!” The chapter ends with First being all, “ANYWAY SO WHY DON’T YOU TWO SHY BOYS STANDING OVER THERE IN THE SHADOWS COME SAY HELLO” before we CUT AWAY FOR ANOTHER WEEK, goddammit.

someone stop me before I launch into an impromptu rant about all my Tomura feels. WHY IS NOBODY STOPPING ME. oh my god but yes, exactly. he’s just in pain all the time. this is exactly why I think Tomura has such high redemption potential even though so far he seems to lack so many of the redemption arc essentials such as feeling remorse, wanting to change, and taking responsibility for his actions. the reason why I’m willing to overlook all that in his case is because Tomura has essentially had zero agency his entire life. AFO molded him into a killer by making sure he was in constant mental agony, and making it so that the only thing that even slightly relieved that agony was killing peeps. like, please don’t think I’m making excuses for him or anything, but if you take a child and manipulate their existence to make it virtually impossible for that child to grow up as anything other than a killer, and basically never give him the chance to be anything else, then no shit he’s gonna be a killer?? he’s basically never had the choice not to be. it’s never been an option for him. anyways I feel like I am EXPLAINING MYSELF SO BADLY but nonetheless I am prepared to die on this hill

anyway so now Nana is all “that’s a rhetorical question btw because Our Hearts And Minds Are One so we can feel everything you feel bro.” so yeah, that’s interesting

now Banjou is getting started on the “let’s try and talk Deku out of wanting to save Tomura because it’s insane” part of their OFA Mystical Space Void Reunion agenda

look, Banjou, I feel you, I really do. you guys don’t think it’s realistic that Deku can defeat Tomura without killing him. so if it’s a choice between killing Tomura vs letting Deku and everyone else in the entire world die, then duh, you think Deku should kill him. I get it! and if this were a real life mass murderer I’d totally agree with you. but the problem is that this isn’t real life, this is a sympathetic shounen villain with a tragic past who might as well have FUTURE REDEMPTION ARC RECEIPIENT stamped on his forehead at this point

Next Gen - #92 - “This is one heck of a storm”

Flashes of light and loud claps of thunder startled the young children inside the Ember Island house. They all put on brave faces, but some still showed discomfort at the scene.

Kya peered out the window to see the status of the storm, hoping to find any signs of it letting up. They were currently waiting on their parents to return back to the house; they said they had group errands to run and that she, plus Malek, was in charge. “It’s really coming down,” she noted.

Malek nodded, bouncing a crying baby Kenji in his arms. “Yeah, this is one heck of a storm.”

“Kya, I’m scared!” Suyin exclaimed. She held on tightly to the teenager’s leg, and Kya patted Su’s back reassuringly. “It’s okay, Su! The storm will pass. We’ll be fine.”

“What about Mama and Baba?”

“They’ll be fine, too! I’m sure they’re just waiting out the storm before they come back.”

“Or, they could be swept away into the sea, never to return!” Izumi teased, putting on her best spooky voice.

Suyin’s face turned pale, and her lower lip trembled as she ran off to find Lin.

Kya scowled at Izumi and hissed, “Now why on earth would you do that??”

“What?! I’m just having some fun!”

“Yeah but you don’t have to scare a five-year-old!”

Izumi waved her hand at her older sister. “Oh c’mon, Su’s tough, she’ll be fine.”

“Seriously, though, did you really have to—”

“—Do we have anything to eat?” Kiyoko interrupted.

Izumi pointed her head in the direction of the kitchen. “Kitchen’s that way, Kiki.”

“I know, but do we have anything edible to eat? Uncle Aang just brought vegetables!”

“Iroh always sneaks some seal jerky in his bags on these trips, ask him,” Kya suggested.

Kiyoko cheered and ran off, ready to bug Iroh into giving her jerky. Malek shifted in his stance and said, “Hey, uh. Anyone mind taking this little guy? I uh… wouldn’t mind some jerky too.”

Izumi rolled her eyes. “Malek, you’ve been holding Kenji for two minutes. Go get jerky with him!”

“Hey! I didn’t expect him to be crying this entire time! I mean, really, when are the parents coming back?”

Kya sighed. “They said they’d be back soon. Just walk him around the house, maybe he’ll calm down.”

“He’s never calm,” Malek whined. “Can’t you hold him?” he asked, holding out the baby to Kya. “He probably just likes people that look like Aunt Toph.”

“And I look like Aunt Toph??”

“You both have long hair.”

“Malek, you’re so dumb,” Izumi playfully sighed. “Whoever put you in charge needs a head check.”

“I’ll have you know that my dad put me in charge!”

Izumi held her hands out, palms facing up toward Malek. “I rest my case.”

Malek frowned at Izumi. “I dislike you very much in this moment.” But he relented after seeing that his efforts to pass off a crying Kenji were not working.

“I’m crying on the inside,” Izumi teased.

The young man’s frowned grew as he grumbled and bounced away with baby Kenji. “Stupid family trip. Coulda been at Kyoshi Island hangin’ out with the warriors…”

Izumi rolled her eyes at her cousin, then turned to Kya. “Did the parents really not say what they were doing and when they’d be back?”

Kya shrugged her shoulders and looked out the window once more. “You know as much as I do, Iz.”

Before the teens could say any more, Iroh and Gyatso came running in and complaining to them.

“Kya! Gyatso keeps blowing puffs of air and making me trip!”

“Only ‘cuz you keep tripping me! Literally!”

“Did not!”

“Did too!”

“Gyatso you're a klutz you trip over your own feet! I don’t have to do anything to trip you!”

“No I’m not!”

“You kind of are, G,” Izumi added. “But we love you for it.”

“Why must you add fuel to the fire?” Kya muttered.

“Because it’s fun,” she whispered to her sister, and the two watched the young boys continue to bicker and complain to each other. Izumi just wished she had snacks.

“Lin!” Gyatso yelled. “Tell Iroh that it’s not—”

“—I’m reading, Gyatso! Figure it out.”

Gyatso huffed and stomped over toward his sister to start yelling at her. “You never back me up!”

“Because you’re fighting about silly stuff and Su is over here crying!”

“Aw, Su, why are you crying?”

While the Beifong kids continued to console and bicker off in the distance, Kya pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed.

She really hoped the parents would be home soon.

One of the funniest things looking back on my first playthrough of 3H is that when I chose Claude to be my first route to play, I did so with the assumption that he was the bad guy.

Smile that didn’t reach his eyes? Acting all coy and snarky between full on royalty while he’s comparatively far less powerful? How he’d weasel up to Byleth? I laughed! I thought for sure this guy was scamming me! It’s the same as when you walk into Redd’s boat knowing damn well you’re about to buy some overpriced fake tuh-rash - you know it’s a lie! But you’re having fun with the idea that “wow, this guy’s really tryna pull one over me, let’s see how this goes”

But instead of that I get a sap! I get a dude who’s big spooky secret he’s hiding from everyone is that he’s a mixed kid who wants everyone to get along! It’s like I actually bought the for realsies Mona Lisa from Redd’s dinky lil’ boat! He’s just a cool dude! He grows into such a loveable person slowly learnin’ to get over his trust issues and is just not the bad guy. Call me a stinky dumb dumb but I was genuinely shocked when it was Edelgard that was revealed as the baddie, especially with my sis’ BL playthrough giving me a bit more insight on her than my base route did (I’d obviously gotten to the Holy Tomb before her playthrough got to the point where the Flame Emperor drops the dagger lol).

And like, when watching my sis playthrough post ts AM and Claude came up I was like “oh shit, NOW he’s gonna be the villain, now that Byleth ain’t around!” but no??? He just genuinely helps out and only fights the Kingdom cuz of a dumb misunderstanding that is immediately resolved. Like this guy?? Is just cool??

It’s like I threw myself in what I thought was a dumpster but was in fact Scrooge Mcduck’s money pile

julie and the phantoms (netflix remake): musical show abt a teen girl rediscovering music after her mothers death w the help of three ghosts who were in a 90s band. canon gay character w a slow burn romance (not yet canon bfs but s2 lets go) - its very cheesy and the musical segments can drag on a bit but its p good overall

lucifer: detective show abt lucifer abandoning his rule of hell to buy a nightclub and beginning to solve murders w the lapd. lucifer is canonically bi/pan, as is his demon pal mazikeen, but queerness rly isnt a focus of the show its more casual rep - that being said its a good show overall, if a little predictable now n then (s1-3 on amazon prime, 4+5 on netflix)

kipo and the age of wonderbeasts: fantasy cartoon set in a future filled w mutant intelligent animals, kipo finds herself lost and has to get home w the help of her friends. canon gay character as one of the mains, canon nb side character - its a rly good cartoon! lots of fun, excellent soundtrack, and the main characters are all poc which is rly nice to see

the dragon prince: cartoon abt two princes and an elf assassin returning a dragon egg to its mother. canon mlm couple, several canon wlw characters, canon nb character - i havent seen the show myself but ive heard very good things abt it!

i am not okay with this: netflix show abt a teen girl discovering she has superpowers and hating it. protag is canon wlw (i THINK shes a lesbian but i havent watched it in a hot sec), developing wlw relationship - ianowt slaps! sad that s2 got cancelled but s1 is real good its a touch spooky and theres a bit of gore/blood so watch out lol

schitt's creek: sitcom abt a rich family who lose all their money and have to move into the motel of a town they bought as a joke. canon pansexual character and canon gay character w one of the sweetest mlm relationships - a rly good witty show w excellent character development for every character!

good omens: show abt a demon and an angel trying to stop the end of the world. every celestial character in it is nonbinary, + crowley and aziraphale have a nonexplicit (ie no on screen pda lol) romance - good omens is such a good queer show none of the characters care abt gender in the slightest lmao, plus the show in general is fantastic (the book is also very good)

the old guard: a group of immortals fight an organisation that wants to capitalise off their immortality. canon mlm couple - another one i havent seen yet (i will!) but apparently very good

it chapter 2: horror sequel to It, w the main characters returning to derry to defeat pennywise for good. canon gay character in unrequited love - i only say chapter 2 because his queerness isnt referenced at all in the first film, again its big horror and theres no gay romance just gay tragedy but its a good film

love, simon: romcom about a closeted gay teen falling in love w someone over emails. do i even need to state the rep? - honestly if u haven't seen love simon yet what are you even DOING its so good proper fluffy queer romcom, the book (simon vs the homosapiens agenda) is also really good!! so is the sequel (leah on the offbeat) where the protag is a bi girl + it focuses on a wlw romance

the way he looks: brazilian coming of age film abt a blind teen boy falling for the new kid at his school. canon mlm relationship - this doesnt seem to be on (british) netflix anymore so idk where youd find it with subtitles but i rmr liking it a lot!

night in the woods: 2d platformer abt a young woman (well. cat) dropping out of college and coming home to live w her parents + discovering spooky happenings in her hometown. canon mlm couple and i believe the protag is canonically bi? - i will recommend nitw to literally anyone who will listen its one of my all time favourite games, deals w a lot of mental health issues and its absolutely gorgeous w a brilliant soundtrack and rly good dialogue thats witty and serious and realistic (its on steam + switch for sure dk abt other platforms, abt 15 quid i think?)

tell me why: adventure game abt twins returning to their childhood home + findin Secrets. canon trans male character - i havent got around to buying + playing this yet but it looks really good! (its in three chapters + on steam, not sure on price)

the art of being normal: slice of life novel abt a young trans girl discovering herself. main characters are a trans man and a trans woman. - a good novel! trigger warning for transphobic actions including descriptions of a transphobic attack on the guy, and its certainly not without its faults otherwise, but i thought it was pretty good

the adventure zone: dungeons and dragons podcast by the mcelroy brothers. idk specifics but theres a lot of canon queer characters in it! - i havent listened to taz yet but i know a lot abt it, inc that its good and funny and has plenty of queer rep

Season 3 notes popping off

due to my desire to not completely fail all my classes this year i made myself slow down significantly while listening to this season, and the fact that the other person i'm listening along with had to catch up. We've managed to convert several other people to start listening and its pretty great.

ep 81: what does it even mean to be chosen by one of them? And if he was chosen by the eye. we know Gertrude wasnt? Because she cut the eyes out of the magazines?

ep 82: elias lmao. I understand why people like him so much bahshdhdk i thought he was gonna snitch on Jon but he didnt so he's fine. Ok but how do we think he knew all that stuff. Idk probably just institute connections. I love the fact that the recorder just wants to record stuff randomly bjahsjdhd. Elias feels a lot like Michael in the sense that he knows more than he should and talks in a way that implies he just wants to wait and see how things play out for his own benefit. I understand him knowing the things that happened but his description of her emotions implies something paranormal. Maybe he's connected to one of the entities. Which one I cannot guess.

ep 83: did a file get delivered randomly to the place he's staying at? Probably elias lmao. He thinks the mannequin is related to the stranger. Idk I would believe it.

ep 84: worms? I know he says earth worms but idk. Again? Is she making gordon golems out of trash? Martin popping off. You can tell the statements get to him more that they get to Jon. How come martin is so mad about it? I want to assume he just doesnt want her to get stuck there but idk. Jude Perry. The calliope organ. Jon heard a circus in one of the last episodes

Elias ur sounding like a bit of a dickhead rn. lmao jon's just like "i dont care" elias what is ur deal. Why does he want to tie her in. ohh i see. lmao theyre all just like "elias why" The Unknowing lol seems very much like something the eye wouldnt like. lol elias is gettin all philosophical. what does it really mean to be human. this still doesnt answer why gertrude wanted to destroy the archives tho.

ep 93: bahsjdfh he seems so dead inside rip. awww admiral. i love him already. ghh breacon and hope. purple mold. doesnt sound like anything we've seen so far. I think the funniest explanation for breacon and hope is that they dont actually serve the stranger they just kinda happen to be a random neutral party that cart around random spooky entity related stuff. ooooh. when we hear the slight static of the tape recorder it's cuz he's compelling ppl.

ok im just putting this here so i have notes for when nicholas gets to this part. It seems like (from jon's conversation with jude perry) that the desolation and the eye are kinda at odds with eachother? like i guess not directly but it seems like they dont really vibe? so how could be with both. Cuz if he has the heat powers and shit then we know he's an avatar of the desolation. but then why does he have so much eye imagery. also he got burned intentionally? like jude did when she went on her monologue about the feeling of burning? but then why did he wear the eye pendant. it stops him from being burned all the way which seems like he's not fully accepting the fire or whatever.
