GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL: MARINA PERFORMS WITH CLEAN BANDIT IN DICKIES COVERALLS

On June 23, 2017 Clean Bandit surprised their Glastonbury audience by bringing out Marina as their additional musical guest who performed their collaborative song "Disconnect" with them!

Our superstar matched the rest of the band who were fully clad in white, by rocking the Dickies Redhawk zip front coveralls. She made it her own by cutting the sleeves shorter and rolling them up.

Next, she wore her favorite vintage Chanel gold sunburst logo chain necklace...

I have a fingerhut card and if you don’t know, it’s a credit card, and it’s reasonable as far as monthly payments and it helps credit however your purchases have to be in their site. There’s a TON of stuff worth buying however the price is super inflated cause they can ANYWAYS it’s taking a lot of self control to not buy one of these Dickies jumpsuit so I can tie the arms around my waist in a white tank and feel like I’m in Alien.

Do you have any suggestions for someone, who currently plays solo, to create a sense of or play being an inmate? Also things one can take out into the outside world that wouldn’t draw too much attention(example I take a day on the weekend to do all the grocery shopping pharmacy etc)?

I almost always wear prison issued tee shirt, socks, and boxer shorts under my civilian clothes. You can also wear standard Dickies workwear which is used in prison; things like khaki workwear or a chore coat. At times, I will wear work coveralls in public to simulate the feel of a jumpsuit. I always wear prison boots on days off!!!

There is a certain thrill of wearing an unstenciled white or khaki jumpsuit while driving or getting a drive thru meal!

I ALWAYS wear an orange jumpsuit or prison uniform for Halloween parties or Mardi Gras events or even to hand out candy at my house!

I also keep my hair very short and once in a while shave my head to really kick it into high gear.

In terms of at home play, I use my basement so the walls and floor are concrete. I sleep on a camping mat while wearing my jumpsuit. You can take a long prison intake shower and cover yourself in "delousing" powder. I have a metal tray, spork and tin cup for meals. I use the toilet with no toilet seat. I also do household chores like bathroom floor scrubbing in uniform!

Michael's Collar

Michael doesn't like his neck exposed. This is his animal instinct but also partly goes back to when he was apprehended as a child and they took his mask and costume which had a soft ruffled clown collar.

He also doesn't like to show the seam of his mask. He considers it part of him and doesn't want people to think of him as just a man. He exposes as little of the seam as possible without sacrificing ventilation or range of movement.

When Michael physically pops the collar, it releases a supersonic burst of dark energy and masculinity.

So if you watch him get dressed, don't have anything fragile in your lap because your legs WILL open when that collar goes up.

If he lets you touch his collar, he's DTF. Avoid touching it if you're not. It turns him on a lot if he's attracted to you.

in some origin stories, dick's robin suit—and consequently every robin after him—was insp by the flying graysons

idk if it was intentional, but it seems that (at least rn in wfa) dick seems to have modelled his current nightwing outfit after the flying graysons' uniform featured in this poster instead

I wanted to dip my toe into the trend of utility jumpsuits, but I didn’t want to spend a lot of money, so I ordered these Dickies coveralls from Amazon, and I have to say I like them a lot!

Obviously these are the same concept as overalls, which I also love wearing and always have, so of course I’m going to like them. I only have to dress “professionally” (I teach college so the umbrella of professionalism is wide) twice a week, and I’m looking forward to dressing kookier on my non-teaching days.

I am a *little* bit embarrassed to wear these around Dominic since he wears coveralls in earnest to actually do work, but he didn’t even tease me when I showed him, just said to let him know when I wanted to wear coveralls with him to the hardware store.

Which will be never, but I appreciate the invitation.

How a humble bag became a humble brag

In the 1880s, a newspaper owner named Jasper Meek was looking out the window of his print shop in Coshocton, Ohio, when he saw a young girl drop her school books. As the story now goes, the sight inspired him to fashion a burlap bag in which people could carry books. But Meek also had an entrepreneurial mind, and he figured out a way to maximize his profit: he’d charge local businesses to print their names on the bags, which then served as tiny billboards as they were carried across town.

Canvas as a textile wasn’t unusual among labourers. But the tote’s commercial popularity began in 1944, when L. L. Bean launched what was then called the “ice bag,” because it was originally used to literally carry ice. The bag was relaunched in the ’60s and hasn’t changed in any meaningful way since: wide, made of structured canvas, with a flat bottom, reinforced handles, a trim available in several colours, and the option of a custom monogram. The company now offers a variety of shapes and sizes, but the classic tote is still one of its bestsellers.

In the decades that followed, totes have grown from a journeyman staple to a ubiquitous literary trophy on the streets of many major cities as well as on Instagram and TikTok. Concerns about single-use plastics over the past few years have undoubtedly fuelled the demand. But there’s also a mystique to the tote. It has gone on to inspire high-end designers: you can now own leather or cowhide versions by Prada, Hermès, or the Row. “The tote bag fits a larger trend of the democratization of fashion,” Dicky Yangzom, a cultural and economic sociologist at New York University, told Vox in 2022. “Similarly to utility wear in fashion with the rise of the jumpsuit, this wasn’t designed for mass fashion. It was more geared toward people who do more manual work, right? So all of these categories are shifting.” Yangzom says that tote bags, having moved past their humble origins, are here to stay.
