Buddhism and Christianity (Verse)
All religions originating in India Its essence is to "discriminate". Buddhism is no exception and discriminates.
"proper nouns" in Christianity Many people do not handle it properly. It is a religion of those with low deviation.
PS: Typical for Republican supporters.

The world is unfair
It has been for likely more than centuries
It will continue to be unfair to some level
But that doesn't mean you get to be a part of the problem, you can always pitch in to make life more fair
One person alone can't do much but imagine if everyone in a large group thought that and said group never came to be despite the fact it actually would make a difference had all the members realized that if there's enough people changing, it adds up
Now quit imagining because that already happens
Even if you can't or won't actively try to make things better, you don't have to make things worse
In fact it usually takes less energy to not make things worse!
Don't trigger that person with trauma and complain that they should get used to it, don't take away accessibilities for disabled people and tell them to figure out their own way, don't ignore a neurodivergent person's needs because you don't think that it really bothers them, don't bully queer or trans people and act shocked they got mad, don't be cruel to those of another race or sex and say it's "supposed to be that way", don't tell children this is normal and if they get upset tell them that they shouldn't be let into the real world because life is just unfair.
The reactions aren't just being dramatic or acting helpless, it's people you put in a bad situation yourself just for you to tell them its normal and they better not complain or else they won't survive. Life isn't fair and never will be totally fair because new problems will arise that can't yet be helped and as soon as someone can do more or less than you, you freak out and lash out, that isn't fair and even if you only grow up knowing one way of life and think it's the best one sometimes as soon as you see another way, good or bad, you jump on it blindly, if that happens now then of course even in the far future this can and will happen and as soon as you find out about things such as making things difficult for others, you can easily jump on it despite everyone around you being wonderful people who don't even have discrimination cross their minds until they see what you've done.
I've seen too many people joke about others being "sheltered" because they had a trauma response that they hadn't or couldn't work through to lessen or they had a certain need that wasn't met.
It's not sheltered or dramatic to react or to need something others don't. I associate a specific restaurant with awful memories that happened recent enough to still be affecting me and I can't even handle being in the parking lot right now, but I am not dramatic for reacting to a series of multiple incidents in a row all of which affecting me directly in some way or another. My mom is very different and can't understand that but she, who has a tendency to literally instinctively but seemingly unknowingly be emotionally and mentally toxic and possible abusive, is way kinder about it than other people I've seen way too often responding to others who had way worse and less of a reaction.
This post isn't targeted to anyone specific, I just thought of it because it's been bothering me a bit.
I'm quite the opposite of popular so this probably won't see many people, but if you saw it, hi, if you want to add on feel free to and if you have any sort of counter arguments or wanna debate stuff here feel free to but please keep it polite and civil <3

A general tip for students who are sending those dreaded Religious Absence Emails to your professors: Rather than asking permission to take the day(s) off, politely let them know that you will be taking the day(s) off.
In other words, consider not saying this:
"May I miss class on [date] so I can observe [holiday]?"
It's not that there's anything wrong with the above, per se. But because it's phrased as a request, it risks coming across as optional — a favor you hope to be granted. Problem is, favors are not owed, and so unfortunately asking permission opens the door for the professor to respond "Thanks for asking. No, you may not. :)"
Instead, try something along the lines of:
"I will need to miss class on [date] because I will be observing [holiday]. I wanted to let you know of this conflict now, and to ask your assistance in making arrangements for making up whatever material I may miss as a result of this absence."
This is pretty formal language (naturally, you can and should tweak it to sound more like your voice). But the important piece is that, while still being respectful, it shifts the focus of the discussion so that the question becomes not "Is it okay for me to observe my religion?", but rather, "How can we best accommodate my observance?"
Because the first question should not be up for debate: freedom of religion is a right, not a favor. And the second question is the subject you need to discuss.
(Ideally, do this after you've looked up your school's policy on religious absences, so you know what you're working within and that religious discrimination is illegal. Just in case your professor forgot.)

Depression Does not Discriminate
Tumblr media
Depression is a serious medical illness that has negative effects on how you feel, think and act. It also affects relationships and may affect your ability to function in various settings such as school or work. Depression common symptoms are feelings of sadness, loss of interest in activities once enjoyed, difficulty sleeping, loss of sex drive and hopelessness.
It’s important to note, that when experiencing depression, you should not try to resolve it by avoiding your feelings. Many times, people deal with their depression by “staying busy”, “avoiding the topic”, or just point-blank self-denial which can look like “no, I’m fine, seriously. Everything is good!” In my experience, depression becomes a major issue for my clients when they neglect to address their feelings. When depression takes root without “treatment”, it can lead to an onset of other issues; health decline, insomnia or even fatigue and loss of interests. Depression can even trigger crisis behaviors such as suicidal ideation. Depression can be improved through the use of medication and/or talk therapy, but the “consistent” cure is found in identifying and maintaining a consistent routine of self-care and positive coping skills throughout daily life.
Contrary to popular belief, depression isn’t just an issue for people who battle with mental illness. The truth of the matter is that all human beings experience depression whether for a brief time frame or extended period. Depression does not care about your color, ethnicity, gender or socioeconomic status. It doesn’t stereotype whether you are supported or alone; depression has no bias when it comes to who it can affect. People experience situational or circumstantial depression, which isn’t necessarily a mental illness but can often be based off of a traumatic experience, painful, or even stressful situation. Depression takes over our lives when we have identified that we are lacking something that provides us a level of peace or balance. For example, a rich man can become depressed due to isolation and loneliness, and a poor man can become depressed due to lack of financial resources. Both men are experiencing a lack, which contributes to their decline in peace and increase in stress.
One can never really get away from stress, pain or hurt as long as we are living and breathing beings. It is important to have the coping skills needed to navigate through the ups and downs of life. Through my own personal experiences and the experiences of the client’s I serve, I have found the most effective way to prevent and cope through depression has been integrating daily self-care habits.
Here are some great tips to regulate mood and decrease depression:
Learn to UNPLUG (disconnect from social media, emails, text messages and other things that triggers decline in mood even if it’s just 30 minutes a day)
Make time to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner (poor diet or irregular eating can create an imbalance in mood)
Laugh often! (watching comedy, do something silly, avoid viewing horror or sad media/TV)
Explore self-care routine (Regulate sleep times, diet, pampering, and fun activities)
Seek counseling (talk through your feelings instead of hiding them)
Exercise (Run, walk, swim or skate can get those endorphins in your body to elevate your mood)
Access healthy supports such as friends and family. If you don’t have have supports you can join a local support group for individuals who struggle with depression. A great resource for support is Celebrate Recovery they are located through the US and is a powerful source of support.
No matter what you do, if you are experiencing any form of depression avoiding or keeping busy will not solve the problem, seek proper outlets and validate every single feeling with embrace and strategy. Its’s okay to feel, but it’s dangerous to suppress what you feel and not allow yourself to heal.
Get support now! Request an appointment.

almost a year after i released a 2019 copy of the nofly list for journalism and research there is now an in depth paper on the ethno-religious over-representation in it. very interesting read, and confirms much of what we already suspected!

"But they can't just not hire you or fire you for being disabled!"
Oh yes they can. And they do. All the time and everywhere. They'll never say "because you're disabled". It's always "you're not meeting the standards and demands of the job", every time.
It's why, as much as I'd like to work again when I'm back in the States, I don't think I can go back to teaching. "If you can't handle what it takes to be a teacher then you shouldn't have become one in the first place" will be what I'm going to run into, because no school wants to accommodate a disabled teacher.

Alright people…it’s A N G R Y time! 😡
A boy was kicked out of a New Jersey movie theater after using the bathroom with his mom. This instantly made me angry because some people with high support needs do need help using the bathroom sometimes.
According to this report:
The incident began when Gallinaro’s son needed to use the bathroom and she took him into the women’s restroom. There is no family restroom at the Cinemark in Hazlet, according to the lawsuit.
“My son is not equipped to go into a men’s bathroom in a public setting alone,” Gallinaro told NJ Advance Media last week. “I took him to the women’s bathroom.”
There were other women in the restroom, some of them mothers, she said.
“Right away, they see he’s with me. They pick up why he’s in the bathroom with me,” she said, noting that she noticed one woman “looking at me smiling.”
The 59-year-old manager of the movie theater wasn’t as understanding, the suit alleges.
The manager angrily approached and “shouted blatantly discriminatory remarks” toward the mother and the 15-year-old, the lawsuit alleges.
“A grown man should not be in the women’s restroom,” the manager said in the crowded lobby, according to the suit. “This is not a transgender bathroom.”
Even though there were no other complaints, the manager allegedly ordered the Gallinaros off the property and directed an assistant manager to call the police, the suit states.
This is complete discrimination. Please reblog this to help spread the word. This can’t keep happening.

【2/2】什么是“包容性语言(Inclusive language)?
