Im of the full (possibly delusional) belief that Durge is not the species that they physically appear to be.
You’re telling me this being crafted from nothing but bhaal’s flesh and his blood - this demigod - is actually a dragonborn/tiefling/human/elf/etc.
No. This thing is bhaal’s flesh and it just happens to look like that. They’re an imitation of a species, they’re not truly a (full)mortal being, they have no heritage aside from bhaal.
As a result I’m sure there’s some…oddities.
For example, a demigod child, not fully mortal. I doubt they adhere to the lifespan of whatever species they look like. Looking younger than they should. (less so perhaps with long lived races like elfs and half-elves where that is par for the course).
A dragonborn durge that by all accounts looks like a blue dragonborn but their breathweapon is acid. A tiefling durge that seems to be a Mephistopheles tiefling but they cannot cast mage hand, instead smiting like a zariel bloodline tiefling.
An elf or tiefling durge that doesn’t read as fey or infernal trough identification spells. Because they aren’t either of those things. Perhaps they could read as divine but not quite.
Members of a race that durge is supposed to be looking at them and sometimes when making eye contact they read as wrong. And some kind of uncanny effect triggers in their brain.
Give me more freaky durge who isn’t really what they appear to be at all. Just a little murder demigod crafted from dead god flesh to be the shape of something else.

DC x DP Prompt *14*
It all started shortly after Danny moved to Gotham for college. At first he was rather confused and annoyed that random people and paparazzi called him: Richard, Tim, Dick, Jason, Timothy, Wayne, Drake, Damian, Todd or Grayson. Some he got called more often than others, but after some time he found out what was going on.
Somehow he got mistaken as one of the Wayne-Brood constantly. Like, okay he shares some features with them, but how is he getting mistaken for all of them???
Some people even started to post memes about it, especially after the fateful Day he meet Brucie Wayne. Because this absolute himboo called him ALL of his kids names, before sighing and just leaving in defeat. The press had a field day with this one.
And it wouldn't be to bad, if the paparazzi would just stop following him, because for the hundreds time he is not a Wayne!
From time to time he also encounters one of the Wayne Brothers and they also call him by one of their brothers names!
But after today he was sure it couldn't get worse. He met Tim Drake for the first time today.
"Hey Tim, can you tell-", with a frustrated yell Danny left the small coffee shop, before Drake finished his sentence.

“You need to rest.”
“I can rest when I’m dead.”
“You’ll be dead soon if you don’t put the weapon down and go rest.
“I’m training-”
“You’ve trained enough. Now lie down before I pick you up and throw you in the bed myself.”

Getting more context behind Anno's reasoning for cutting the Shingoji puppet from Shin Godzilla feels like really interesting insight into how specific he wanted the visuals of the Shin cycle, and a pretty fascinating demonstration of the paradox of he and Higuchi's special effects in those movies. I've described the Shin cycle's effects before as "pretentiously (affectionate) recapturing the Showa uncanny with purely digital means." Obsessive, perfectionist recreations of artifice and practicality through motion capture and CG animation.
Shingoji is animated and textured like he is made of rubber and as if he is rendered through practical means, limitations and all, yet Anno disliked the limitations of the practical rubber puppet. Shin Ultraman used an actual Neronga suit in its motion capture for completely CG animated kaiju. Zoffy's mask is a perfect 3-D scan of Ultraman Jack's asymmetrical mask. Shin Kamen Rider's recreation of the original show's look and effects is some of the most painstakingly digital magic trickery and post-production work I've ever seen in a movie of its like (the BTS videos are absolutely fascinating, highly recommend watching them).

I adore the special effects of all the Shin movies. I think Shin Godzilla looks fucking incredible, powerfully striking and uncannily creepy imagery, and nothing else on Earth looks remotely like Shin Ultraman. The animators and staff across the board did phenomenal work, and I think Anno and Higuchi's approach to CG, clearly understanding the uncanny artifice all its own, is a pretty brilliant understanding of the animation form over any sense of "better realism." The Shin movies are just a consistency loud and fresh grand statement on special effects as a medium.

However, it's hard to shake the notion that cutting that Shingoji puppet was something of a death knell for traditional Tokusatsu in Godzilla movies? Anno and Higuchi's paradoxical clear love and expertise for the classic special effects vs their execution and chosen expression of that love. It's just interesting to me, y'know?
And despite Godzilla Minus One's incredible success and the joy at its special effects being so lauded, it's hard to shake the notion that a more pretentious showcase of traditional suits and sets would have been nowhere near as well received. So much positive buzz for Minus One puts down so many of the other movies, unfairly and reductively, and I've seen a lot of that energy directed at the special effects. Minus One's realization and look should be praised alongside the special effects work or Invasion of Astro-Monster and Godzilla vs Biollante, not used to shit on them.
