Elide stuffed another marshmallow on the skewer and held it over the fire. She half listened to the conversations and bickering around her, occasionally putting in her two cents as she focused on getting her marshmallow a perfect golden brown. She hated when the flames caught and scorched it and left it a crumbling charred mess.
On another night, if her marshmallow burned, she could’ve given it, albeit dejectedly, to her boyfriend who for reasons she couldn’t comprehend liked his marshmallows burnt. But not tonight. Tonight, Lorcan was sitting on the opposite side of the fire from her, separated on each side by their friends. Tonight, she couldn’t give him a burnt s’more without the confused or shocked looks from their friends. Because tonight, she and Lorcan had to pretend like they haven’t been secretly dating for a month and a half.
So, tonight, Elide focused on her marshmallow.
“Okay, okay, here we go,” Aelin sat next to Elide and grabbed a flashlight from her bag before turning it on and holding it beneath her face. The light caught on her cheekbones and cast shadows over her skin. “Who’s ready to have nightmares tonight?”
“You don’t need to tell a story for that, Galathynius,” Lorcan smirked. “You’re disturbing enough.”
“I think you mean delightful, Salvaterre, not that you’d know what that is.”
Elide cringed inwardly. This was why she and Lorcan were keeping their relationship to themselves for now. She loved Aelin, and she lo—really liked Lorcan, but Aelin and Lorcan could be at each other’s throats on a good day.
Rolling her eyes, Elide nudged Aelin with her shoulder. “Come on, watch’ya got?”
As her friend began to tell the story, Elide caught Lorcan’s eye. His dark brows had raised a bit at her interjection, and he flashed her a quick wink as she discreetly rolled her eyes at his amusement. She lost track of the story as she kept her attention on her boyfriend. It really was a cruel joke of their own making that she wasn’t sitting next to him, curled up into his side. By the look that flashed across his face, she knew he was thinking the same thing and cursing the fire that separated them.
“Virgins? Really?” Fenrys interrupted, drawing Elide’s attention and earning a glare from Aelin. “That’s so cliché.”
The blonde opened her mouth to reply but Lysandra beat her to the punch. “What, not interested anymore knowing it isn’t coming after you?”
“Fuck off, Ennar,” he scoffed but any annoyance was negated by his self-satisfied grin.
The story went on, and even if the tale itself was lackluster, Aelin had a way of captivating people’s attention. It wasn’t long before everyone was leaning closer to the fire, listening to a story about a horrifying creature that lived in the very woods to their backs.
“A creature that fearsome and bloodthirsty doesn’t need to be clever. Anyone with a lick of common sense may just outwit the monster, but its prey rarely survives long enough to try. It doesn’t have a name. The lucky, or unlucky, few who do escape its clutches are never the same; only lucid enough to recall its jagged claws and gruesome teeth, warning others about the beast that prowls these woods. Don’t go looking for the monster, it very well may be the last thing you ever do.”
Silence stretched out around them as Aelin turned off the flashlight…only to be broken by Fenrys wetly blowing into his palm, eliciting a loud fart noise. “Is that the best you can do?” He laughed as he narrowly missed the flashlight flung at his head.
Elide knew Lorcan was about to chime in and she tried shaking her head but he continued anyway.
“Where did you find that?” He mocked. “From some kiddie Halloween book?”
Elide arched a brow at him and replied drily, “Yeah, ‘cause a kid’s book would have a monster who specifically attacks virgins.”
“Exactly,” Aedion argued, but used her point oppositely, “it goes after all of them. Scary.”
Lysandra nudged his shoulder with an eye roll, “Most of them wouldn’t even know what virgin means.”
“And that’s,” Rowan nodded, “where the story turns scary for the adults who have to bullshit their way through that explanation.”
“That’s convoluted,” Elide scoffed and met Lorcan’s amused stare over the fire.
“Maybe,” Her boyfriend shrugged before turning back to Aelin, “Doesn’t matter though, ‘cause it still sucks.”
Scoffing and crossing her arms, Aelin countered, “Like you could do better.”
“Better than a half-wit monster?” His voice dripped with condescension. “Yeah, I think so.”
Individual voices rose and bled together as everyone chimed in with their own opinions. Marshmallows were thrown across the fire in between insults and laughter, and while everyone else was focused on arguing, Elide found Lorcan’s gaze again. Truthfully, he’d barely taken his eyes off her – she could feel the intensity of his stare on her skin and prayed she didn’t look as flushed as she felt. If she did, she could blame it on the fire.
He was smirking at her and Elide’s eyes darted around the group ensuring no one else noticed. When their eyes locked again, his smirk was impossibly wider. She rolled her eyes, biting back a grin of her own. As much as she wished they weren’t pretending, it was exciting having a secret just between them.
Snap!
A loud cracking sounded from the woods.
The conversation immediately halted, and everyone’s heads swung around towards the noise. Nervous laughter jumped around the group as they shifted uneasily. It was just a story, but it was also dark and Halloween. Murmurs of there’s nothing out there echoed.
Another branch snapped loudly from the darkness, followed quickly by a second, louder snap, once again silencing the group.
“Aelin, are you doing this?” Aedion asked uneasily as he shifted in his seat and side-eyed his cousin. “Did you set this up?”
Lysandra scoffed and lightly hit his shoulder.
“Nah,” Lorcan disagreed, “she isn’t that clever.”
Sometimes Elide thought Lorcan goaded Aelin just for the fun of it… and because he had a death wish. Before Aelin could bite his head off, Elide arched a brow and leaned forward before taunting, “Why don’t you go see what that noise was then?”
Lorcan turned towards her and beneath the annoyance that he wore for show – mostly for show – she could see the heat simmering there. He shook his head, scoffing, “Right, because I’m going to walk into the supposedly haunted forest. I’ve watched horror movies; I know how that ends.”
As if on cue, more snaps and cracks echoed through the trees. This time, they were followed by birds cawing before a dozen or so of them flew out of the forest, their silhouettes visible against the moonlight.
Laughing to herself, Elide brushed herself off and stood. “For fucks sake, I’ll go check it out.”
All eyes focused on her, but no one else made a move to stand.
“Why does anyone have to check it out?” Rowan asked incredulously
Lysandra pulled her jacket tighter around herself and scoffed as she looked pointedly at Aedion, Lorcan, Fenrys, and Rowan.
“Really? None of you men,” she teased, “have the balls to go in there? You’re gonna let Elide go all by herself?”
Lorcan and Aedion rolled their eyes good-naturedly as Fenrys scoffed, “Excuse you, but as a feminist, I refuse to believe Elide isn’t capable enough to go by herself.”
Rowan added, “And as someone who’s met Elide, I refuse to believe that any monster would stand a chance against her.”
Aelin nodded sagely, “She is small, but she is mighty.”
Rolling her eyes at her friends, Elide rounded the fire and aimed for the woods. She turned to walk backward and joked, “I could be walking to my death right now and you’d all be laughing it up around the fire.”
Lorcan had turned to watch her walk away. “Get back over here, you’re the one who volunteered.”
“After your scared ass refused.” She retorted making Aelin laugh.
Huffing and crossing his arms, Lorcan continued to watch her with raised brows. “I’m not scared of a few broken tree branches.”
Elide grinned. “Could’ve fooled me.”
With his face turned away from the group as he looked at a retreating Elide, they couldn’t see the way his brows furrowed at the sight of her getting farther away, or how his eyes darkened at the amusement on her face, both of which only fueled her more and pulled her grin wider.
“Oh no,” she teased, getting farther away from the group and the fire. “I hope I don’t find the beast and lead it back here.”
If any of their friends were surprised at how reactive Lorcan was being, they didn’t show it. Or maybe the two were too focused on each other to notice.
Elide saw his face twist into a smirk and for a second worried about what was about to come out of his mouth.
“That’s not a threat, Lochan” his words dripping with provocation. “The legend says it only goes after virgins…so sucks for you.”
Elide’s brows shot up in disbelief as trickles of laughter sounded from around the circle. It was true she wasn’t as open about her exploits as her friends, but of all people…
“Mm,” she waited for the laughter to die. “It’s a good thing you aren’t going; the legend says someone only needs a speck of common sense to best it…so that’d suck for you.”
Aelin snorted hard enough to choke on the marshmallow she was eating. Loud laughter trailed her as she finally made it to the forest’s edge.
Just before she could step past the tree line, she heard the unmistakable sound of Lorcan grunting as he rose from his seat and walked towards her. “Let's go.”
She chose to ignore the cheering and whistling that followed them into the woods. They stayed quiet as they stepped over dried leaves and fallen branches, staying careful to not trip over something and end up injured and sprawled on the forest floor. It wasn’t until they’d walked far enough that the fire was no longer visible, and a minute more, before Lorcan wrapped a hand around her hip and pulled Elide backward so that her back was resting against a tree trunk and Lorcan was standing in front of her.
Both of his hands fell to her waist, and she lifted hers to the front of his jacket. One of his thumbs draw light circles across her skin as she toyed with his collar. But when he dipped his head down, trying to connect their lips in a much-anticipated kiss, she pressed on his chest to stop him an inch away from her.
“Virgin? Really?” she asked with an unimpressed raised brow, unintentionally echoing Fenrys earlier criticisms of the story.
“Blame my apparent lack of common sense,” he chuckled low and leaned forward as her resistance lifted, pressing his lips against hers in a way that almost had her forgetting why she paused him in the first place.
When they broke apart, Elide grinned and laughed softly. Lorcan offered her a small smile exclusive to her and tucked a rogue lock of hair behind her ear. She wound her arms around his middle and asked, “Wanna go break some branches and scare the shit out of the scaredy cats?”
His smile turned wicked, and his eyes lit up with dark amusement. “Oh, I absolutely do. But they deserve to worry for a bit; let ‘em stew”
“Good thinking,” Elide’s grin matched his. “What do you think we should do with the time?”
Lorcan leaned his head down so that his lips brushed her ear, bringing one hand up to graze her jaw before sliding around to cup the back of her neck. She could feel his breath on her skin as he spoke, and it sent shivers down her spine. “I can think of a few things.”

Elorcan Week Day 3 - Shirt Shorts
Celebrating the many uses of Lorcan's shirt!
This fic for @elorcanweek2022 was written from a prompt from @mercarimari
Place It On My Shoulders
Read on AO3 (comments appreciated and loved and coveted)
The first thing Lorcan noticed was how small she looked, her body bent to fit neatly within the frame of the window. Her slender arms enfolded her knees, and he knew that beyond the waterfall of silken midnight she was resting her cheek on one of them, her fathomless dark eyes gazing out over the now-empty battlefield. A killing field that the two of them had been helping to clear of the dead for the last three days. She should be exhausted - sleeping - but she hadn’t even changed out of her gown, and though his breeches tightened remembering the sight of her in something finer than leather and linen smudged with blood and dirt, his dark brows bunched in concern.
That Elide Lochan, indomitable Lady of Perranth and hero of the Battle of Orynth, hadn’t even made an effort to appear that she had even tried to sleep… that small vulnerability gripped his heart.
“I thought you were going to bed,” he murmured, and she started even though his voice had been barely a breath in the night. The colossal male barely gave her a chance to look up, striding over and sweeping her up in his arms. His tiny bride-to-be - a title with which he was still incandescently thrilled and likely irritatingly smug - didn’t even make a sound, though her arms circled his neck and clutched herself tightly to him, as if she was afraid he might disappear.
“Elide,” he whispered, his worry gnawing at him as he carried her into the bedchamber of the sprawling suite. He had teased his warrior Lady that he was lucky to be marrying rich, which had earned him the most delicious, scrunched-nose scowl and a tiny punch to the shoulder. The room was dark, but his fae eyes led them straight to the bed. “I’m going to set you down so I can get us some light. But I won’t be far, and I’ll be quick.” Lorcan felt the need to reassure her, unnerved by the way she so desperately clung to him. But her chin dragged against his chest as she nodded wordlessly, and he pressed a kiss to her brow before placing her on the edge of the mattress.
As he moved through the rooms, lighting enough candles and oil lamps for Elide’s human eyes to see, she still did not utter a single word. When he stopped in front of her she did not look up, expression vacant and eyes distant, and the dark-haired fae wondered if she may be ill or experiencing some sort of delayed shock from the violence and death she’d witnessed these past days… weeks and months, too.
“Elide. My cunning little warrior,” he breathed, kneeling before her and cupping her face in his broad hands. Her lashes fluttered as she blinked, beautiful midnight gaze finally focusing on him. “There you are.” He smiled gently and she whispered his name, a breath of a prayer, her tiny fingers curling around his wrists.
“Why aren’t you sleeping?” Lorcan brushed onyx strands away from her face, the tendrils having strayed from the rivers of blackest night that flowed over her shoulder. Her focus shifted slightly, eyes darting toward the window.
“I–” Elide’s voice cracked, as if she hadn’t spoken in hours. The fae male dragged his thumbs across her cheeks in encouragement as she swallowed and tried again. “I can’t seem to relax. I know the war is over. I know the danger is past, that Morath is no longer a nightmare looming over my shoulder. That Vernon is dead and I’ll never feel the cold weight of chains on my ankles and wrists.”
It was all Lorcan could do to contain the dark power writhing within him, desperate to break free. It should have concerned him, this desire to watch the world burn for nothing more than the fact that this human woman had not been given the life she deserved. But he knew his fury was warranted - found solace within the rightness of how it felt to be so utterly dedicated to her vengeance and her protection.
Her shoulders rose and fell with a shuddering sigh, and he could feel the tension in her body. Lorcan’s heart cracked when silver glimmered along her lashes. “I’ve been in survival mode nearly as long as I can remember. And I–” Elide choked on her words, and he slid a palm down to her neck, his thumb skating along her jaw. “I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to pull myself out of that. I don’t want to be afraid forever, Lorcan.” The demi-fae leaned forward, capturing the tear that had escaped against his lips. Then he pressed them gently to Elide’s petal-soft ones and began working deftly at the laces of her bodice. Then he bent to lift the hem of her skirt.
“Can you stand, Elide? Only for a moment, love.” He didn’t have time to cringe against the endearment that would normally feel so foreign and contrived against his tongue. All the dark male knew was that she needed the encouragement, which appeared to work as she slowly rose, allowing him to pull her gown up over her head. Lorcan dropped it atop the bed linens and then gripped his tunic at the back of his neck, pulling it off in one languid, graceful pull. He commanded softly, “Arms up,” as he turned the sleeves the right side out, promptly sliding the billowing sleeves down Elide’s slender arms and letting the garment fall into place, swallowing her to her knees. It had been a revelation, seeing her in one of his shirts for the first time. The sight could bring him to his knees, and yet made him feel like the most powerful male. The wave of possessiveness had been feral and nearly unhinged, and that remained the same now, woven with protectiveness and devotion. Knowing she was so strong, in such a tiny, breakable body… it was often nearly too much to experience all at once.
And how could he forget that she loved wearing it too. She had told him, not long after they had given themselves to each other for the first time, that she would rather wear his tunics than anything else. That the scent of him reminded her that she was safe and loved, and that she could hide her body from wandering eyes and still know that he would know everything that was beneath it. It was that security and adoration that she needed now, and he was glad to sacrifice a shirt to help with that. He swept her up and tossed her dress to the floor, earning a half-hearted grumble as he pulled back the blankets and climbed onto the mattress, cradling his fragile, incredible woman close as he leaned back against the headboard.
“Elide,” he murmured as he tucked her head under his chin and wove his fingers into her silken locks, “even if you weren’t one of the bravest, strongest people I’ve ever known, you would not have to be afraid. You will never be alone again, and I will protect you with all that I am. Let go of your fear. Place it on my shoulders. It is no longer your burden to carry.” The trembling in her taut muscles eased as he combed through her hair, fingertips grazing her back, but she was still wound so tightly, her body unable to recognize that there was no looming threat. But Lorcan thought maybe he knew a way to ease her body and her mind. Grasping her waist, his fingers almost touching as they circled her, he lifted her and turned her to face him, gently placing her back down so her lovely pale thighs were straddling his, a luscious contrast of milky white against supple black leather.
As arousing as the position promised to be, his never-waning desire for her was not part of this moment. This was about Elide - his Elide - and the safety he was determined for her to feel. He held her jaw between his hands, tilting her face up to look at him. Silent tears trailed down her cheeks, but his breath caught when he looked into her shimmering onyx eyes. Through the wetness they shone with such staggering trust that it threatened to steal his breath entirely. To be gifted with such a thing from this woman, who had suffered so much by those who should have earned it easily…
“What are you thinking?” he wondered aloud, his stare boring into her very soul, his heart overflowing with love and light. Things he never thought he would experience. Would deserve. Lorcan kissed her, reveling in the warmth and softness of her lips. “Do you feel safe with me, Elide?” Her tiny, delicate hands rested against his bare chest and slid their way to the back of his neck.
“You are the only person who has ever made me feel safe. Since my parents died,” she answered, a ghost of a smile tilting her mouth. Lorcan moved his hands to her shoulders and began kneading his fingers into them, working against the tension. Her thick lashes fluttered as her eyes closed, her mouth releasing a sinful groan as her head tilted back. And he couldn’t help but chuckle. His arms moved under hers and he began massaging down the the rest of her back.
“Let it fall away, Elide,” he encouraged, leaning in to press tender kisses to the column of her exposed throat. “You are home, in Terrasen. The war is over. You are safe. You are home and surrounded by people who love you and will protect you.” As he worked further down, Elide leaned forward, wrapping her arms around his middle as she burrowed her face into his neck.
“And you have a male at your side who loved you before he even knew what love was. He is a dark, menacing thing, but he will be forever devoted to your protection and your happiness.” She sank into him, her body melting against him as it finally began to relax as he continued to work her muscles and murmur gently to her. Her head shifted slightly, and he felt her lips at the base of his neck.
“I never knew you had such a talent for beautiful words.” Her voice was muffled against his skin, but when he laughed in response he could feel her body shake with a tiny giggle, and the worry that had coiled around his heart began to ease. Lorcan’s palms found the flesh of her thighs and stroked up and down. Slowly. Tenderly. A gentle lover’s caress.
“You needed them,” he replied, the answer obvious to him. The warrior would always be gruff and intimidating. He would likely scowl too often and growl in frustration far too much for what would be expected from the Lord of Perranth. But he would sacrifice his intense reputation and fall upon his knees - be regarded as a simpering fool by the world - if it meant that Elide would be comforted and treasured. Her lips whispered a ‘thank you’ against his skin, and he wound his arms around her, holding her close as her breaths became longer and deeper. Until she finally succumbed to the exhaustion that she had been fighting, likely for days. Lorcan untangled himself from her, careful not to wake her as he slid her onto the bed, and then quickly stood, stretching his arms over his head to remove any kinks from the position he’d been bent into. He plucked Elide’s discarded dress from the floor and draped it over the back of the chair before the fireplace, his own breeches joining it a moment later. With a casual flick of his power he doused the candles and the lamps, the room falling into darkness as he climbed into bed and curled himself around his beautiful Lady, her hands instinctively curling around his arm even in her sleep. And with a smile that he showed so few he pulled her tightly against him and whispered into her hair, “I love you, Elide.”

Leaning against the doorframe, Elide watched as you sparred with Lorcan, a triumphant smile gracing your features as the tip of your wooden practice sword pinned his chest. “Ah the mighty warrior, why does it seem you’re so distracted during our training sessions lately?” you teased.
Lorcan’s cheeks tinged red, the brawny male clearing his throat as his eyes flicked to where Elide stood watching. You turned, eyes lighting up as you caught sight of the stunning female. “Hi lovely!” you called, summoning Elide over as you wrapped her in a sweaty hug. “Thank you for the training as always, Lorcan. I’ll let you two lovebirds be alone,” you said, winking as you took Lorcan’s practice sword to stow alongside your own.
You felt their eyes on your back as your boots scuffed the stone floors, sending a nervous smile over your shoulder as you worried you might be intruding. Lorcan glanced nervously at Elide, her black eyes tracking the sway of your hips as she bit her lip. “You don’t need to rush off,” she called, her gaze flicking to Lorcan, whose eyes were now once more locked on you. “You can join us for tea before dinner tonight, if you like.”
You whirled around, heart pounding at the invitation to spend more time with them. You knew it was wrong to feel the way you did about a mated couple, but there was an irresistible pull drawing you to them - as if you could breathe easier, colors brighter, air fresher when they were around. You managed to shake your head, a pleasant smile on your lips as you promised to see them tonight at dinner, completely unaware that the both of them felt that same pull towards you.
Elide and Lorcan looked at each other after you left, silence hanging thick in the air between them. With a shaky exhale, Elide broke the tension first, once more evading admitting their feelings for you. They went for tea, enjoying each others’ company as though it were a half of a meal - wonderful as it was, not entirely fulfilling.
You donned a special dress for the evening, knowing that several of your friends were visiting Perranth from Orynth, and would be at dinner tonight. Satisfied with your appearance, you made your way to the dining room where Aelin, Rowan, and Fenrys were already waiting.
With an excited yelp, you ran to give Aelin a hug, following up by greeting Rowan and Fenrys. Elide and Lorcan entered the room just as you were speaking with Fenrys, angered expressions on their faces confusing you. You took the seat next to Fenrys, balking at Elide’s intense stare as you did so.
As dinner progressed, the tension in the room grew, Elide and Lorcan seemingly upset over something that you couldn’t determine. Lorcan’s eyes remained fixed on your end of the table, bouncing between you and Fenrys. You gave him a concerned look, noticing the white knuckle grip the male held on his fork, and Lorcan exhaled, giving you an apologetic smile. He wrapped his arm around Elide, the pair seeming to cool down until Fenrys put an arm on your shoulder, leaning across to take a bite of dessert from your plate.
Elide jumped from her chair, practically hissing as Lorcan snapped his metal fork in half. Rowan and Aelin halted, warily checking for visible threats before understanding crossed their faces. Snickering, Aelin pulled Fenrys away by the arm, your friend stealing the rest of your cake as the trio stood. “We’ll leave you three to talk,” Rowan murmured, his deep voice carrying across the room as he exited with Aelin and Fenrys.
You reared back, wide-eyed as you gaped at Elide, who was still standing over you with flushed cheeks. “What is going on with you two?” you whisper-shouted, knowing Aelin and Rowan were likely listening with their ears pressed to the door. Busybodies.
Lorcan gently pulled Elide to sit back down, the couple sharing a nervous glance as realization struck them. Elide turned towards you slowly. “We were...”
“Jealous,” Lorcan finished, Elide reaching over to squeeze his hand in affirmation. You gawked at them, at a loss for words as your mind scrambled to catch up.
“Why would you be jealous?” you breathed, swallowing thickly as your heart raced, hope coursing through your chest.
They looked at each other, a silent understanding passing between the two of them before Elide reached for your hand across the table. The moment her hand connected with yours, you felt the snap in your chest, feeling a wholeness that you didn’t know was possible before. Lorcan smiled, letting out a rough laugh as he reached his hand as well. “You’re our mate.”
You nodded, a weight lifted off your shoulders as understanding finally filled you. You started, “I’ve always felt drawn to you both, and I felt horrible for it-“
Elide shook her head, pressing a kiss to your hand. “I felt the same. I think we always knew there was something more, but I was scared of what it meant. I wish we had talked about this sooner.”
You smiled, leaning forward to press a kiss to Elide’s cheek, then Lorcan’s. “We have now.”
“Finally! Can we come back in?” Aelin shouted through the door. Lorcan scowled, but you and Elide laughed as she shouted back a “yes.”
Aelin ran in, heading straight for the cake she’d left on the table. “Fenrys, you might need to sit at the opposite end,” she joked, earning a warning snarl from Lorcan that had you giggling, eyes alight with a new joy at finding your mates.

Humor, Fluff, Fun–Dialogue Prompts
In retrospect, this is not what I had in mind when I said surprise me.
I blame you for this.
Technically speaking, this is not my fault.
Please, I know exactly what I’m doing.
This is not what college prepared me for.
Ah yes, betrayal.  I am familiar with that.
I take it, that’s not a good thing?
You’re really good at dodging questions, aren’t you?
Well, that is highly unfortunate.
You are delightful.
We’re friends now, sorry, there’s no escaping it.
I made us friendship bracelets.
We might have a problem, ask me again in twenty minutes.
Manners? Never heard of them.
Why is there a dog on the couch?  We don’t have a dog.
Hm, this is a terrible idea // that’s not going to stop us right? // oh absolutely not
I/You/They’ve made some very interesting life choices.
I don’t think that’s supposed to be on fire.
Sorry, pumpkin. // Don’t call me that.
Don’t worry, with enough glitter no one should notice.
I’m off to commit murder or buy ice cream, I haven’t decided yet.
You ate the last slice of cake, you’re dead to me now.
Well, you’re just a ball of sunshine, huh?
You bring the bad decisions, I’ll bring the popcorn.
Tell me a secret?
All we have is time and all I have is you.
Hold my hand?
I like having you by my side.
 Please, you know you missed me.
You didn’t think you could buy me off with cake did you?
I might, might, have made a mistake.
All things considered, this could have been worse.
Nope. Nope.  Nope.  I don’t like this.
You’re cute when you make that face.
Welcome home, baby.
I missed you so much.
You always have my attention.
I’m hungry // You’re always hungry
Ask nicely // No, thank-you  // I tried.
See, there’s no problem.  I know exactly what I’m doing.
Make me.
Say that again.
Why do you have that?
Those words don’t mean what you think they do.
Hey, babe, I need a favor.
Do you love me?
You’re my best friend.
In my defense, I had no idea what I was doing.
Whose idea was it to start running?
This wouldn’t be illegal would it?
My tongue can be quite spontaneous // Really? // Not like that!
I’m sorry, but I can’t take you seriously like that.
Can I have a kiss for luck?
Did you miss me?
We’re going to hug now, no arguments.
You’re touch starved, get over here.
Am I irresponsible?  Maybe.
Making questionable decisions is my birthright.
Are you sure you know what you’re doing?
Let’s take a moment to recognize that I had nothing to do with this.
I love your smile.
You’ve got stars in your eyes.
You’re perfect in every way.
Dance with me?
We’re going to watch the sunrise.
I kissed you because I wanted to. Dumbass.
It’s impossible to say no to you.
“So happy it’s Thursday,” make an acronym out of that…
Are you eating ice cream for breakfast?
Here, I made this for you // It’s a flower crown // Yes, it is.

500 words or less prompt: Elide walks in on Lorcan taking a bubble bath. There are candles.
A/N: There's something about fluff in a bathtub that just...gets to me. I hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
It was dark when Elide got home.
She had promised to be home hours ago but had to stay late at the bar. Her replacement had been running behind, their car battery dying, which led to Elide's early night off becoming just the same as every other night.
She came into the kitchen through the garage, seeing a cleaned plate on the counter. After looking in the fridge, she saw that Lorcan had made her a plate and set it in there after it was clear she wasn't coming home any time soon.
"Lor?"
He didn't answer.
The house was dark and silent, but his truck was in the garage so she knew he was home. After slipping off her shoes and hanging her keys on the hook, Elide made her way through the house. A candle was burning in the living room, and the t.v. was on but paused, halfway through a movie that Lorcan had apparently been watching.
"Lor?" she called again, in a sing-song voice. There was still no response as she began making her way upstairs. The house was old, each step creaking as she walked up the stairs. They'd gotten it cheap, as a fixer upper, and it was now the epitome of comfy and cozy.
As she made her way down the hallway, the softest of relaxing music filled the space.
Suddenly, Elide knew exactly where she would find him.
Through the master bedroom, Elide gently pushed open the door to the master bathroom and chuckled at the sight of Lorcan. His massive frame was submerged beneath a heap of bubbles in the tub. It smelled like lavender and vanilla; candles were strewn all around the bathroom. Soft, Celtic music played. Lorcan's eyes were shut.
Seeming to sense her presence, he said, "It's been a long day."
"People piss you off?"
"People always piss me off."
"Do I need to kick someone's ass?" Elide offered, still keeping her voice quiet.
Lorcan chuckled as he opened his eyes and looked at his wife. "I'll never say no to that. You're late."
She frowned. "I know. My replacement ran late. I saw my dinner in the fridge. Thank you."
He nodded, his eyes soft. He was clearly exhausted. "If you can wait to eat..." He gestured for her to join him.
Elide suppressed her grin. Lorcan was not a small man, but in contrast, Elide was a small woman. Even if he took up eighty percent of the tub, Elide only took up the other twenty.
"I don't know," she teased. "I'm pretty hungry."
Lorcan snorted as his eyes closed, once more. "I promise it'll be worth it."
Elide couldn't deny that. She stripped off her clothes and meandered into the tub, sitting idly on Lorcan's lap. He wrapped his arms around her and laid his chin on top of her head as the music played around them.
There was nothing sexual about it, only comfort. He rubbed her back gently, his fingers dancing across her skin smoothly, and just as Elide closed her eyes and began to drift into a state of utter calmness, Lorcan chuckled.
She opened her eyes and glanced up at him. "What?"
"I just imagined you kicking the ass of the sixty-year-old woman that made me want to quit my job today," he said, quietly. "It was satisfying."
Elide laughed quietly as she snuggled up against him, breathing him in. "Your twisted mind would find joy in that."
"If my mind is twisted, yours is just as bad."
"I don't know what you're talking about," Elide said, fingers trailing down his chest. "I'm nothing but pure and innocent."
Lorcan took her fingers and made them still before bringing them to his mouth and kissing each fingertip softly, teasingly. His tone set her on fire when he said, "You are not pure or innocent."
Elide grinned, refusing to correct him, because they both knew it was true. Their hands wandered one another until simple touches became unbearable. They made love to one another until the water ran cold, and it was nearly midnight before Elide got around to her dinner.
But she didn't mind.

"Elide?" Lorcan's voice echoed through the house. "I'm home, baby!"
"Hey," Elide greeted her husband, her fuzzy socks muffling her footsteps as she padded into the entryway to greet him. "How was your day?"
"Long," he griped, bending down to kiss his wife. "Damn long."
"I'm sorry," she whispered against his lips, cupping her hands around his jaw. "Need anything?"
He sighed into her caress, draping his arms around her petite form, the foot-plus height difference between them not really working in his favor. "I'm hungry."
"We can fix that," she smiled, kissing his forehead before gently nudging him to stand upright. "Go ahead and shower, Lor. I'll have food when you're done."
"Can't I just eat you?" he whispered into her ear, sending a delicious shiver skittering down her spine.
"Later," she chuckled, giving him a little push. "Real food first, my love."
"Fine," he grumbled, pretending to pout as he kissed her once more before heading upstairs, shedding his suit coat and unbuttoning his collared shirt as he went. He barely paused to leave his work bag in the spare room they'd turned into an office before dropping his clothes on the master bedroom floor, a trail of discarded garments following him into the bathroom.
Which definitely would have looked incredibly suspicious to anyone who was not his wife.
He indulged in a longer shower than normal, allowing the hot water and steam to soak into his tired body and soothe his muscles--gods, he swore his damn job was giving him early-onset arthritis and muscle cramps. The mirror was fogged over with steam when he emerged, bringing a wry half-grin to his face, for he knew very well how he loved to tease Elide about the way her steaming-hot showers rendered the mirror useless. Toweling himself off, he pulled on boxers and sweatpants and an old t-shirt, craving comfort more than style. Besides, he was home, who else would be seeing him?
True to Elide's word, there was an array of deliciously mouthwatering scents floating from the kitchen when Lorcan entered, trudging over to the stove to wrap his arms around his five-foot-three wife from behind. At six-five, he was tall enough that her head settled neatly against his chest, making it a little awkward for him to rest his chin atop her head, but that hadn't stopped him yet.
"Hey, you," she chuckled, switching off the burner. "Right on time, love, everything's ready now."
"Must be the growing boy in me," he smirked.
Elide's nose crinkled as she laughed, the throaty sound filling the whole house. "You're incorrigible, husband of mine. I love you."
"Love you more," he returned, stealing a kiss.
"Stop that," she said, affectionately. "There's minestrone and bread, eat all you need."
"The way to my heart," he half-groaned, serving himself a generous bowl of the steaming hot soup the second she placed the pot atop the hot pad on the table.
"Feed a man and he'll stay with you forever, they said," Elide laughed, pouring him some water.
"They're right," Lorcan mumbled, practically inhaling the food. "Gods, this is good, El."
"Glad you like it." Her dark eyes softened as she passed him the ladle so he could have more soup.
He was completely full by the time he helped clear the dishes and load up the dishwasher, flopping onto their large sectional couch with a deep, contented groan. "C'mere, El," he requested, holding out his arms.
She chuckled as she came to him, settling herself on the couch by his side. "Need something, Lor?"
He draped himself atop her lap, widening his eyes. "I need you to hold me, love."
She huffed a laugh. "Babe, am I your pillow?"
"Yeah."
"You're gonna put my legs to sleep," she teased, stroking her fingers through his dark, damp hair.
He shrugged. "I've got ways to remedy that."
She stifled a wicked smirk. "And what if I want you to hold me, love?"
"Nooooo," he protested, shifting himself so he could loop his arms around her hips. "Hold me, babe."
She raised a dark brow. "First I'm your pillow and now you're pleading? Who are you and what have you done with my grumpy Lorcan, hmm?"
He stuck out his lower lip, the sight almost making her burst into giggles. Her massive grumpy husband, a pool of fake petulance and an insatiable need for cuddles. "Please hold me, El? Pleeeease?"
How could she resist him when he was that adorable? "All right, come here, you big oaf."
His grin was almost childish in magnitude. "Your oaf, my love."
"My oaf," she agreed, grinning at him. "I--oof!"
She hadn't expected him to half-tackle her into the couch, melting into her body like she was his own personal pillow, a sigh of pure contentment escaping him as he settled in, his head tucked into the crook of her shoulder. "Am I crushing you?" he asked, concern flickering in his onyx eyes.
"Not at all," she reassured him, skating her fingertips over the angled planes of his face, her soft touch gliding down to his shoulders as she looped her arms around her hulking husband. "Honestly, I kind of like having you draped all over me. You're like a teddy bear."
Lorcan raised a brow. "Teddy bear?"
Elide nodded. "A great big grumpy teddy bear."
He huffed a wry laugh, his eyes drifting closed. "Not an analogy you've used before, El."
"Fits," she shrugged, working her thumbs into the knots in his broad shoulders, massaging out the tension.
"Hrrmmmphhh." His incoherent mumble was agreement enough.
A soft, contented smile curled her lips as she held her massive hulking husband close, his weight and warmth atop her making her feel so safe, so protected. Within half an hour, he was out, his breathing deep and even and steady, his chest gently rising and falling against her.
Her grumpy teddy-bear oaf of a husband.
She wouldn't trade this for the whole entire world.

Boner for You [Elorcan]
Prompt: Fake Dating College AU where Lorcan just wants Elide to be his girlfriend for a party and Elide wants to pretend she isn’t thrilled about it. |
Genre: Fluff/Humor Rating: SFW despite the title lol. Recommended listen: Born by OneRepublic Author’s note: Inspired by this gifset here. I saw it and it screamed Elorcan. I just had to find a way to fit it in and what better way than fake dating?
Tumblr media
She stood scowling, rooted in her spot.
If it was up to her, she would stay rooted to this spot forever rather than step into that frat party and have to embarrass herself for him.
Elide’s eyes shifted up to glare at Lorcan who was glancing down at her with a smirk.
“Scared?”
“No.” she scoffed. “More annoyed with myself for letting you put me in this position.”
He grinned at her and brought an arm around her shoulder, pulling her closely into him. “Now now, you agreed on your own. All I did was ask.”
“Desperately.” Elide gritted out and his grin widened.  “You asked very desperately.”
“And then you agreed to come to this party with me.” He said, leaning down to meet her gaze. His smile was wicked and Elide wanted to reach up and choke him. “You agreed to come with me to the party and be my girlfriend so that my ex would leave me alone.”
“Pretend. I am pretending to be your girlfriend.” Elide emphasized then pointed at him with narrowed eyes. “And what if your crazy ex-girlfriend decides to turn her crazy on me, hm? What happens then?”
“Don’t worry. I’ll protect you, kitten.” he replied, his voice low and he playfully tried to bite her finger which she retracted immediately with a growl.
“I’m not your kitten. Don’t call me that.”
“I didn’t say my kitten but I see how you like the possessiveness of the term.” he replied, grinning at her and she scowled again. “I’ll make sure to call you that in front of people so that they know what my girlfriend likes.”
“I’m going to punch you in the face if you don’t stop.”
“You can’t reach my face, kitten.”
Elide pulled away from his arm and used every bit of strength she had to yank him down by the front of his shirt until they were inches apart.
“Yes, I can.” she replied, glaring. “Don’t push your damn luck, Salvaterre.”
“Feisty. I’m hella turned on right now.” he said, grinning obnoxiously and Elide nearly did punched him right then and there.
“Lorcan.”
“Elide.”
“I hate you.”
“Yet, you’re still here.”
Elide groaned and shot him another glare then pointedly gestured towards the door. “Let’s get this over with, you giant barbarian.”
It had been so stupid of her. So stupid.
Did she know that this would happen when she agreed to tutor his stupid ass in their Calculus course? No.
Did she think she would start crushing on this giant jock with a handsome face and really nice body while she was tutoring him? Definitely not.
Despite how annoying he was now, Lorcan was actually a good student. So when he spent the majority of their last lesson completely zoned out, she snapped at him until he confessed. He had caught her completely off guard when he asked her to go with him to a party that Fenrys was hosting. She had gotten invited alongside all her friends but hadn’t planned on going — she had even forgotten about the whole thing, until he asked.
It had taken every ounce of willpower in her not to blush and not to get too happy about it.
-Two days ago-
“Why?”
“Why what?” he had asked her confused.
“Why are you asking me?”
He shrugged. “I need someone to play my girlfriend for the party.”
“And you thought of me?”
“Yeah.” he had replied. “You’re smart and hot. Plus you're tiny and it makes me look bigger than I already am.”
Her expression flattened. “So you want me to go with you because I help inflate your ego?”
“Yup.” he smirked.
She squinted at him then said, “No.”
“Come on,” he insisted, attempting a pleading look. “I know your friends are going and it’ll be fun.”
“You think I want my friends to see me pretending to be your girlfriend?”
“They’d love it.”
“No.”
“Please?”
“No.”
“What if I told you it was because my ex was there and I really don’t want to deal with her?” he asked and Elide pursed her lips at what seemed to be a genuine expression. As if Lorcan Salvaterre couldn’t handle his ex-girlfriend.
“So you want me to play buffer between you and your ex?”
“No. When she sees you with me, she won’t approach at all.”
Elide snorted. “I doubt Maeve will be intimidated by me at all, if that’s what you’re hoping for.”
“Oh, Maeve will never see you coming. She’ll be too shocked.” Lorcan replied with a small smile.
“Shocked that you’ll stoop low enough to date a girl like me?” she asked, glowering at him.
“Shocked that a beautiful, smart girl like you would even look at a guy like me.” he corrected with a grin and Elide had wanted to punch herself for blushing.
“Well...there’s so much of you, you’re not exactly hard to miss.” she muttered, intensely gazing at her textbook. “Giant beefcake.”
Lorcan burst out laughing at that and Elide shot him a dirty look.
“If you haven’t already put that as my name on your contact list, please change it to that.” he said after it took him a few minutes to calm himself in which Elide thought of multiple ways to stab him to death with her pencil.
“I already have you down as ‘Annoying asshole’. I think it suits you better.” she huffed and he smirked at her.
“Fair enough.” he had replied, leaning closer to her. “So will you go with me? I’d be honored to have you as my pretend girlfriend.”
After a few moments of silence, she had finally agreed, on the condition that no intimate gestures would take place.
He laughed for another ten minutes at that and then Elide almost really did stab him with her pencil.
~
Currently, Elide wished she had stabbed him just to avoid stepping into this jungle.
Music was blaring, people were drunk all over the place, not to mention all over each other. Elide grimaced slightly. Lorcan’s gaze fell on her expression and he smirked before turning back to face the hallway, maneuvering them through the bodies.
“So which room do you want to start in first?”
“We will not be going into any rooms at all.” she snarled. “Open spaces only.”
Lorcan turned suddenly, causing Elide to crash into him. She staggered for a moment but Lorcan’s arm easily came around her waist, holding her tight against his chest. “Why? You’ve been in a room alone with me before, Elide.”
“That was the library. We’re never really alone in there.” she said, her arms crossed over her chest, glaring at him with flushed cheeks. “I already told you no funny business!”
Lorcan laughed and brought his face down to the crook of her neck, nuzzling his nose there before moving to her ear and speaking quietly, “Trust me, Elide. Business between us would be anything but funny.”
Her whole body heated at his words as he pulled away with another one of his wicked smiles and Elide let out a breath she hadn’t known she’d been holding.
“You giant animal.” she hissed and he snickered.
“You know kitten, you keep mentioning how much of a giant I am.” he purred. “I’m starting to think you’re hella attracted to how much of me there is. You like that I dwarf you, don’t you?”
Elide could almost feel the steam coming out of her ears as she glared at him but he only laughed and winked at her.
She wanted to run at him and pound his face in. Elide was well aware he was making fun of her and yeah she was attracted to him because he was really handsome. And tall. And beefy. She did like that he dwarfed her. In her low moments, she often wondered what it would be like to actually have his giant body on hers.
Despite how annoying he was, she had to admit, he had charmed her in one way or another. The time they spent together working on calculus was ridiculous and he infuriated her to no end. But then he also brought her a cup of coffee and a snack for every tutoring session. He pissed her off but he made her laugh too. Lorcan was nice to her, even when he was being annoying.
Sighing, she followed him. Elide would play his girlfriend. Maybe she’d enjoy it. In fact, maybe she’d be the one to surprise him. With a determined expression on her face, she followed where Lorcan was now heading towards his friends.
What Elide didn’t know was that Lorcan was giddy as hell on the inside. He had taken a risk asking her that day but he’ll be damned if he didn’t at least try with her. This wasn’t about Maeve at all. That bitch wasn’t even at the party but Lorcan was willing to use her as an excuse if only to get Elide to come with him. Tutoring had been the first excuse so he could get her number. He was crushing on this tiny girl so badly, it made Lorcan want to dig a hole and die in it. She was too good for him. Way too pure. But he saw the way she looked at him sometimes. And he saw the way she blushed at the things he said and that had given him hope. Also, it gave his imagination a lot to work with.
“Elide! You CAME!” Fenrys half screamed, already drunk. He came and threw himself on her and Elide yelped at his weight.
“Hi, Fenrys.” she choked out and Lorcan quickly yanked his giggling friend off Elide.
“Don’t crush my girlfriend. I haven’t tortured her enough yet.”
Elide shot him a glare and Fenrys let out a loud gasp.
“YOU GUYS ARE DATING?”
“Yup.” Lorcan replied, grinning obnoxiously at Elide, the glare still in his direction.
“Nope.”  She countered and Lorcan raised a brow.
“SINCE WHEN? UGH FINALLY LORCAN.” Fenrys continued, leaning against the wall for support and it was Elide’s turn to raise a brow.
“Finally?” Elide asked and Lorcan smirked.
“Don’t worry about it, kitten.”
Elide narrowed her eyes then broke out into a devilish smile. She leaned closer into Lorcan, bringing an arm around his waist. “If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you’ve been pining over me all this time.” she said and it was Lorcan’s turn to narrow his eyes at her. “If I didn’t know you were truly clueless at calculus, I’d think it was an excuse to spend time with me...babe.”
Lorcan blinked and prayed his body wouldn’t betray him because Elide was touching him all on her own and he felt that death was near. Her delicate hands were on his body and he felt both blessed and cursed. Fenrys giggled drunkenly.
“SHE CALLED YOU BABE. AW SHIT. YOU’RE IN DEEP LORCAN.”
“Is he now?” Elide asked, looking over at Fenrys. “Do tell.”
“Shut up, Fenrys.”  Lorcan snarled softly and Elide’s mischievous grin returned.
“Oh please, Fenrys, tell me.”
“PFFT, HE’S HAD A BONER FOR YOU FOR LIKE — MONTHS NOW.”
“Does he now?” Elide asked sweetly, lifting her eyes to meet Lorcan’s, pulling away from him and he scowled at her.
“YEAH. LIKE — HE NEVER SHUTS UP ABOUT YOU. HE ALWAYS STARES AT YOU LIKE A CREEP.”
Fenrys clearly wanted to die today. Lorcan’s scowl deepened but it was mixed with a slight panic and he bopped his friend on the side of his head causing Fenrys to yelp in return. He wanted to tell Elide he liked her. But not like this and certainly not through Fenrys.
“He’s drunk. Don’t flatter yourself and believe him.” Lorcan muttered to her, attempting the bravado he had when they first came in.
Elide blinked, her lips forming a small pout and she saw his eyes flash for a moment. “Well, geez, relax beefy.” she said quietly. “I already know you wouldn’t stoop for a girl like me. You’re the one who insisted I come with you.”
“That’s not what I meant.” he quickly amended and surprise colored Elide’s face at the red staining his cheeks. “I just — don’t listen to Fenrys — he’s being stupid —”
Elide waved a hand and cut him off, trying not to let the way her heart dropped at his words show in her expression. “Don’t worry about it. You should go get your girlfriend a drink.” she said, looking anywhere but him. “I’m going to need several if I have to keep pretending to like you.”
She could’ve swore hurt, then regret, flashed in his eyes before he reluctantly left her side to find the drinks. Elide watched him as he left and let out a sigh then her eyes scanned the room for any of her other friends.
“You know — hiccup — he really does like you.” Fenrys said, still rubbing the spot where Lorcan hit him. Elide turned to him with a raised brow.
“Does he now?”
Fenrys nodded then winced, rubbing his head again. “He just has a s-shitty way of showing it.” he slurred softly. “Maeve was a manipulative b-bitch. She totally — hiccup — fucked him up.”
Elide’s eyebrows furrowed and a small frown came on her face. Maybe Fenrys was right but that was certainly too much to hope for. Sure, he flirted with her nonstop and she had been attracted to him but Elide wasn’t really experienced and he most certainly was and —
“You’re overthinking it, t-tiny one.” Fenrys said with a drunk chuckle. “I can see it on your pretty face.”
Elide rolled her eyes but her cheeks heated nonetheless. “You’re drunk. You don’t even know what you’re saying right now.”
“Listen, I’m drunk cupid.” he said with a hiccup. “You got a b-boner for him like he has one for you. Just DO IT.”
Elide winced as he yelled the last two words, the blush deepening on her face before she waved Fenrys off. “Stop it. If he comes back just tell him I went to find the girls.”
“When you guys bone, I w-want a gift in exchange for this encouragement!” he called out after her and she flipped him off, causing him to laugh.
Elide’s eyes took in the mess of the room around her. People making out, people dancing, people laughing and drinking. She really wasn’t big on parties so she only came from time to time and each time, she was sure it would be her last.
“Well, it certainly isn’t a Fenrys party unless he’s getting flipped off by multiple people.” Aelin’s voice came from behind her and she turned with a wide grin to find her close friend.
“There you are! I was just starting to look for you and the girls!” Elide said, hugging her. “Where are they?”
“Manon and Dorian ran off doing things I don’t want to think about and Lysandra is kicking Aedion’s ass at beer pong.” Aelin replied with a laugh and Elide grinned.
“What about you and Rowan? I’m surprised you’re not all over each other at the moment.” she teased and Aelin gave her a smirk.
“We break up our intense make-outs and inappropriate touching into sessions so we don’t miss the party. You missed the first two times.” she replied with a nonchalance shrug and Elide burst out laughing.
“I’ll try to avoid any further sessions, thanks.” Elide said with an eye roll, her eyes scanning the room again, and fell on a current arm wrestling match going on between Rowan and Gavriel. Her eyes fell on the hulking figure of Lorcan intensely cheering the two on, the drink he was supposed to be getting her still in his hands.
“Forget about me...what about you?” Aelin asked and her tone made Elide meet her gaze. “Is there something you want to tell me?”
“What do you mean?”
Elide knew what she meant. Her cheeks heating on their own indicated she knew exactly what Aelin was asking and the way Aelin’s smirked at her made Elide want to run from this stupid party.
“You walking in with Lorcan? Lorcan having his hands all over you when you first came in? His face buried in your neck? You having your hands all over him moments ago? Fenrys screaming something about boners and for you two to just do it?” Aelin rattled off and Elide groaned. “I mean, Elide, when were you going to tell me you guys were boning? Everyone has been taking bets on how long it’ll take for the two of you to go for it.”
Elide’s expression turned to horror and Aelin started laughing hysterically. “I-It’s not like that!” Elide quickly explained, her face burning. “I — we — it’s not like that! I’m just pretending to be his girlfriend! I’m doing him a favor!”
“Elide, Elide, Elide.” Aelin tutted, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. “I may dislike Lorcan because he’s an annoying pig, but the heart wants what it wants. I will support you. And cut his balls off if he does anything stupid.”
Elide was about to protest again but Aelin pulled away to give her a look and she let her eyes wander back to where Lorcan was.  As if feeling her gaze, his eyes flickered to hers and Elide tried not to let his expression unnerve her. She braced herself as he started walking towards her and slowly handed her a drink.
“Sorry. I got distracted.” he said quietly and Elide took the drink, their fingers brushing as they had many times during their tutoring sessions. She curled a loose strand of hair behind her ear and gave him a thin smile.
“It’s fine. You guys look like you’re having fun.”
“Yeah.” he replied and his free hand came up to rub on the back of his neck. He shot Aelin a look before looking back at Elide and leaned closer to her. “I’m sorry. About earlier too. I didn’t mean what I said.”
She raised a brow at him. Lorcan’s expression was that of a scolded child. She almost laughed.
“It’s fine.” she repeated. “I get it. Fenrys riles up everyone.”
Lorcan chuckled then his expression turned serious again as if weighing his next words carefully. His eyes flashed to Aelin again but Aelin only crossed her arms, rooted to her spot and watched earnestly. Lorcan scowled and Elide bit back a smile then brought a hand to his chin, bringing his attention back to hers.
“What’s wrong?” she asked and Lorcan’s jaw clenched when she pulled her hand away. Elide had no idea what was going on in his mind but his eyes gave away to the hurricane which were his emotions. He cleared his throat and took a step back, taking the drink he had handed her moments ago then finished the entire cup in one go.
“I just wanted to say…” he began, then licked his lips. “Fenrys wasn’t wrong. He’s...he’s right.”
Elide blinked, looking between her empty hand and his earnest face. “W-what?”
“He’s right. I do. You know.” he said and Elide saw color heat his cheeks as he waved his hand, looking anywhere but at her. “Have a boner for you or whatever.”
Her eyebrows shot up as Aelin snorted behind her but the two ignored her.
“What I meant — I mean — that isn’t how —” Lorcan growled then stopped himself, crushing the empty plastic cup in his hand. He cleared his throat and then locked eyes with her. “I like you. I’ve liked you for a while. It doesn’t mean you have to do anything about it. I’m just — I’m being upfront with you.”
Elide stared at him. She heard the words he was saying but she wasn’t sure she could comprehend it. Lorcan watched her expression of shock and swallowed.
“So uh. You don’t have to pretend to be my girlfriend anymore. Maeve was just an excuse for me to ask you to the party.” he said and gave her an embarrassed smile. “I uh...I’m just going to go. Have fun with the girls.”
Elide blinked again and watched him go. Her body lurched forward after him but then she paused, turning to Aelin with a dumbfounded expression.
“Did he just —?”
“Yup.”
“Does he really —?”
“Yup.”
Elide’s whole body flushed and Aelin burst into giggles.
“I can’t believe he actually likes me.” she mumbled and Aelin squinted at her.
“Why wouldn’t he? You’re amazing, El.”
Elide shook her head. “I just...never thought I was his type.”
“You are very much his type.” Aelin confirmed and Elide looked at her curiously. “He’s whined to Rowan about you before when he doesn’t think I’m around. Jokes on him, Rowan tells me everything anyways.”
Elide’s cheeks flushed and she bit her lip. “So...so this is real? He isn’t...playing a game or anything?”
Aelin shook her head with a smile. “Definitely not. He knows you’re the real deal.” she said and Elide’s eyes flickered back to where Lorcan had returned to an even more intense arm wrestling match than before. He was seated in the place of Rowan, giving his opponent a menacing look as they got ready to go.
Elide watched him. She watched the curve of his body as he sat, barely putting in any effort to knock his opponent down. The corner of her lip went up when he started sniggering at the poor fellow clenching his arm and at the two who took his place. Idiots. She thought. He was a giant beast, none of them would actually be able to beat him.
“Jeez, Elide. Get a damn room.” Aelin said with a snort. Elide shot her a look.
“That’s rich coming from you.”
Aelin grinned. “Maybe. But at least I’m usually in his lap when I stare at Rowan like that.” she said then gently pushed Elide. “You should probably move along if you would like the same fate.”
“You think he’s annoying.” she said incredulously.
“Yes, he is and I would love to stab him if pulls anything.” Aelin said and then shrugged. “But he's not a total loser. What can I say? I’m a sucker for love.”
Elide blushed then bit her lip. He had been upfront with her. Maybe it was time she returned the favor.
Taking one last look at Aelin, Elide moved. She weaved her way through the bodies, her eyes locked on Lorcan and his bulging muscles that easily knocked over the two opponents across from him. She watched him laugh at his success but the laugh quickly died in his throat when Elide slid into the seat across from him.
She heard the murmur of confusion that her move had caused but her eyes were locked on the male across from her as he gazed at her with a raised brow.
Elide rested her elbow on the table and held her hand up, in position for the silly arm wrestling game he’d been playing. She gestured with her chin to his arm and with a tilt of his head, he slowly reached out to clasp his palm in hers.
“What are you doing?”
“Did you mean what you said?” she asked quietly, her heart racing at their linked palms. She really did like how his hand completely enveloped hers.
Lorcan held her gaze and she saw the sincerity in them when he answered. “Yes.”
“You have a boner for me then?” she asked with a small smile and his lips twitched.
“I do. A big boner.” he replied, a grin spreading on his face now. “Both emotionally and physically.”
“That’s good.” she said and leaned her body across the table, planting a quick kiss on his lips. His eyes widened in surprise and Elide took that moment to bring his arm down, giving her a cheater’s win in the arm wrestling match. “Because I have a boner for you too.”
At that moment, with him gaping at her stupidly, it felt like the rest of that room had vanished. It was just the two of them and a thrill rushed through her body. Lorcan stared at her for a few seconds before his head leaned back and he barked out a loud laugh.
Cheeks burning, Elide pulled back with a grin of her own.
“You owe me a date, Salvaterre. I expect you to deliver.”
He leaned back in his chair and gave her a look that made heat flood low in her belly. Oh, how she hated him.
“I owe you several dates and I plan to deliver on every single one of them.” he replied smoothly.
“Don’t expect me to go any easier on you during our tutoring though. I’m a dedicated instructor.” she said and leaned against the table, crossing her arms over her chest. His eyes lingered there a little too long before meeting her gaze and leaning forward against the table as well.
“I wouldn’t expect anything less from my girlfriend.”
“Actual girlfriend now, huh?”
“Mm. This plays into so many of my fantasies.”
“Does it now?”
“I’ve been a very bad student, kitten.”
“I honestly cannot stand you.” she replied incredulously, but the knowing grin he gave her had her toes curling and cheeks burning again. He held his palm open to her.
“Wanna get out of here?” he asked quietly and she slipped her hand into his. She really liked how much he dwarfed her.
“I most definitely do.”

hiii i was wondering if you’d be willing to write s part 2 to cardigan, the one with elorcans daughter, Diana x rowaelins daughter but now where they are faced with a threat and they’re alone so they have to fight alone. Something happenes and Diana almost gets hurt but reader takes the blow instead and Diana is heartbroken. the parents know something is wrong immedietly so they check on their daughters. They find reader almost dead and they heal her. Diana is distraught bc she feels like her soul is being crushed and they realize the mating bond is there🥲🥹 reader wakes up and Diana hugs her and cries and it’s all so fluffy. I just know Elorcan would have so much respect for reader after this, for anyone, getting Lorcans approval is damn near impossible but since reader is so close to them and especially after this, he approves. a little fluff moment with Elorcan
Anything For Her

It was supposed to be a simple recon mission. Just you, Diana, and your brother Sam. The small group of Dark Soldiers had spotted you and just started an all out assault on the three of you.
From a few feet next to Diana, you watched one of the last soldiers standing nock an arrow in his bow and aim for your girlfriend. Panic floods through you. You act before thinking. The only thing on your mind was protecting Diana.
As the soldier let the arrow fly you dove in front of Diana. The arrow found home in your stomach. You fell to your knees clutching at the wound. The world went quiet before you hit the ground, closing your eyes. It hurt so much. This pain was unbearable.
You swear you heard a primal scream come from Diana’s throat. You wanted her near you. Needed her to hold you as the pain consumed you. You try to call out for her but your lips feel heavy. As your vision goes dark you hear Diana scream again.
Diana watched you fall to your knees and she saw red. Rage consumed her entire body as she launched herself in the direction of the soldier who shot the arrow. Drawing her sword back, Diana ran and didn’t stop until she swung. The man’s head rolling in the grass.
Skidding to a stop her chest heaves. Blood coated the grass as the man’s body fell with a thud. Diana turned taking in the small battle field around her. Then Sam over your body. He had his hands over your stomach to help staunch the bleeding wound.
Dianna wasted no time grabbing you and getting back on her horse. She rode faster than she ever had before, pushing Flicka to her limit. She didn’t look to see if Sam was behind them. She had to get you to a healer. To your father. She can’t lose you, she just can’t.
Riding right up to the palace doors Diana dismounts gently pulling you with her. “Help! Get the King! Call for a healer! Help!” She screams at the top of her lungs. Sam came rushing in the open doors. Rowan and Aelin quickly followed by Elide and Lorcan came sprinting into the entry hall.
With wide eyes your father took you into his arms yelling out orders as he took you to a spare room. Diana followed as healers rushed around you, your family standing off to the side with Elide and Lorcan. Sam clings to his mother apologizing over and over again.
Diana felt something in her chest fading. Like her heart was slowing down. Her eyes landed on your chest which was rising slower and slower with each breath. Diana feels something clench at her heart, then a tug in her chest as your hand twitches toward her.
“No,” she whispers. “NO! You have to save her! Save my mate!” The room is stunned into silence. Lorcan and Rowan share a pained look. Aelin sniffs the air and lets out a gasp. Elide clings to Aelin’s arm as they just stare at you. Diana won’t stop yelling at the healers and they need to concentrate. Rowan points his chin at the door and Lorcan lifts his daughter, dragging her out in the hall.
She fought her father every step of the way. Hitting, kicking, and screaming at Lorcan to be let back in the room. To be by your side as the healers worked.
Lorcan had never seen his sweet Diana like this. She’s usually rational, all think first act later. But this…this was the mating bond. He pinned her to the wall holding her arms to her sides. “Diana stop! Listen to me!” At her fathers sharp tone she stopped struggling. Her long black hair half in her face, hiding her tear stained cheeks.
“You need to let Rowan and the healers do their jobs. You screaming like a maniac will not help y/n. I know you want to be with her but it’s best you do not go back in that room, understand?” Diana slowly nods and crumples into her fathers chest. She lets out a wail that dies into broken sobs.
Clutching at her heart she sends love down the bond to you. Sending images of your sweet memories like your first kiss, sneaking around the castle, making up after your first fight. Lorcan held his eldest daughter as she cried. Hell, he even started crying. He never wanted his baby girl to feel this way ever. If he could get in there and heal you himself he would.
Hours later Rowan comes into the hall. Aelin immediately embraces him. “Is she?” The Queen whispers to her husband, “Yes. She’s going to be out for a while but she’s going to be fine.”
Everyone visibly relaxed. You were safe and Diana could breathe again. She felt the bond hum to life again.
Your father moved you to your room once you were more stable. Diana refused to leave your side until you woke up. She fell asleep with her head on your thigh while sitting in an armchair next to your bed. When you stirred the next morning Diana shot up.
“Y/n/n! Oh thank the gods, baby I was so worried.” Diana flings her arms around your neck as you groan from her slight weight. She pulls back, holding your face in her hands. It was clear she had been crying for hours. “Never. Ever. Do that again.”
You lay your hand over hers, turning your head to kiss her palm. “I’m sorry I worried you. But I couldn’t let that guy hurt you.” Both your eyes line with silver. “I can’t believe you’re my mate.” You whisper, smiling like a love sick fool at Diana. Her lips crash onto yours in a loving and passionate kiss. “I can’t either.” Diana whispers back against your lips.
Before you could pull Diana into bed with you, your door creaked open. Your mother and father poked their heads in. “Hey sweetie,” Aelin says softly. She rushes over to your bed resting a hand on your forehead. “Hi mom.” She shakes her head lovingly at you.
“You scared us half to death.” “I’m sorry mom, I just…all I saw was Di in danger and had to save her.” Rowan stepped up next to Aelin. “While your mother and I are upset we are happy for you and Diana. I understand the feeling.” He smiled down at you as he gripped your hand.
From the doorway Lorcan clears his throat. “Sorry to break up the reunion. Can I have a moment with y/n?” Your parents and Diana look between you and Lorcan. You nod reassuringly at them. Diana seems hesitant to leave. “I’ll be fine.” You say to her. “I’ll be in the hall,” she grimaces at her father who raises a dark eyebrow at her.
Lorcan sits in the arm chair next to your bed. He looks at you with a dark gaze, like he’s dissecting you. “I know your parents and Diana have already told you what you did was reckless and dangerous. Let me tell you what I saw.” You tilt your head curiously against your pillow. “I saw someone who cares about my daughter put their life on the line to protect her. I would always tell Elide that no matter who Diana dated no one would be good enough for my little girl. Not even her mate.”
You had no idea why Lorcan was giving you this speech now. If he was here to tell you he didn’t want you and Diana to accept the bond he could at least give you the courtesy of fully recovering first. You were about to tell him that when his next words shocked you. “But I take that all back now. I know you really care about each other and you more than proved that. And will have the scar for eternity to show her as well. Thank you, y/n.”
He got up to leave. As Lorcan was half way across the room you called out, “So does this mean we have your blessing. Because you were the one we were worried about.” Lorcan smirks at you over his shoulder. “I thought I made myself clear,” And leaves.

AN: The only elorcan I’ve written so far has been for yamtm but I’ve been wanting to do more so I’m glad I got this prompt! Thanks babe <3 Also, I currently do not have a tag list for elorcan, so maybe let me know if you want to be tagged? I can’t promise I’ll write them too frequently but I’m sure I’ll do more at some point so :)
Fluff//3285 words
“You don’t have to do this.”
“I definitely do.”
“You definitely don’t.”
“I most certainly do. Shut up and stop arguing with me.”
Elide pouted. “I feel so bad asking you.”
An eye roll was all she got in response to that.
“It’s just!” Elide sighed. “I know we’re not super close and this is a lot to ask—”
“Let me stop you write there, Lochan, before you deafen me with your little spiel about what a monster you are for asking me.” Lorcan crossed his arms. “You’re having your wisdom teeth taken out, not getting a kidney removed. All I have to do is drive you there, sit in the waiting room with my laptop and a book for a couple hours, then drive you home and make sure you’re icing your face and eating mush. I work from home so I can just have my laptop up while I sit with you, it’s not a big deal.”
“I guess not,” Elide said. “I would have asked Aelin if she’d been in town, though—”
Lorcan interrupted her yet again. “I know you would have, but she’s not, and I’m here, and I don’t mind.” He smirked. “Besides, watching you high on whatever drugs they give you will make it so worth it. Maybe I’ll get to hear some juicy secrets if you’re loopy enough.”
That. That right there. The whole what if I tell him something embarrassing while I’m hyped up on laughing gas thing was why Elide had started backtracking as soon as she’d asked Lorcan this favor. And she wasn’t concerned with sharing a humiliating story or doing a funky dance in front of him. Well, okay, maybe Elide was a little bit worried about that.
But mostly, Elide was petrified that she wouldn’t be able to hold back the fact that she had a huge crush on the man sitting before her. How would she manage a day with Lorcan, on drugs, and not let that slip?
“But still…” Elide started, desperately searching for an alternative.
“But what? Are you going to drive yourself home while high and dripping blood?”
Elide shrugged. If that was what it took, she wanted to say, but she figured voicing that opinion wouldn’t help her case.
“Listen.” Lorcan’s tone turned more serious. “You were always there when I needed you. Let me repay the favor.”
Elide blinked, entirely unprepared for him to say anything like that. She knew she’d supported him after his parents had passed away last year, but she hadn’t realized how much that had meant to Lorcan.
“Okay,” she rasped.
And all of a sudden, there was no going back.
“You are a baaaaaad nurse.”
Lorcan lifted his head from his book and watched as Yrene, the doctor’s assistant who had introduced herself the them prior to the surgery, rolled Elide through the doorway.
Yrene gave Elide an amused glance as she rolled the wheelchair out. “Why’s that?”
“You put my clippy thing on wrong,” she slurred, waving her fingers. “It’s crooked.”
There wasn’t anything currently on her fingers, but Lorcan assumed she was referring to the clip thing they used to monitor your heart rate. He felt a smile quirking at his lips.
“I’ll have to remember that for next time,” Yrene said, holding back a grin of her own. She made her way over to Lorcan, giving him a friendly wave.
“Did everything go well?” he asked.
“Obviously, you idiot,” Elide told him, though he’d been talking to the doctor’s assistant. “My teeth are gone, aren’t they?”
She opened her mouth wide and blood started to drip past the tissues in her mouth.
“Let’s try to keep those in there,” Yrene said, readjusting the tissues while Lorcan held back a laugh. “Everything went well,” she said next, turning her gaze to Lorcan. “Some of our patients are more affected by the drugs than others, and your friend seems pretty out of it, so I can wheel her out to your car.”
“You’re a car,” Elide muttered.
Lorcan chuckled. “Alright, that works.”
Yrene took Elide out to Lorcan’s car and he helped her get a reluctant Elide in the passenger seat. She ended up sideways and Lorcan decided he’d get her seatbelt on when he was in as well.
“Remember,” Yrene said brightly, “an ice pack for five minutes on either cheek every few hours should reduce the swelling. She needs to rinse out the gaps every night for the first week with this”—she handed Lorcan a zip-lock containing a syringe and two bottles of pills—“and those medications are antibiotics and pain meds. Soft foods only for the next forty-eight hours.”
Lorcan nodded slowly, trying to remember everything.
Yrene flashed him a sympathetic smile. “It sounds like a lot but it’s all on the sheet Elide has at home, and she’ll be able to handle everything herself after the anesthesia wears off, which should be by the time she wakes up tomorrow, if not tonight.”
That was a lot more reassuring, and Lorcan nodded genuinely this time, then thanked the woman.
Once Yrene started back toward the building with the empty wheelchair, Lorcan climbed in the driver’s seat and turned to Elide. She apparently had some semblance of lucidity in her, because she’d gotten her seatbelt on herself… or rather, gotten one leg through the belt.
Lorcan snorted. “Alright, let’s fix this.”
“Fix what, baby?”
“Baby?” Lorcan asked amusedly as he reached for the seatbelt and started maneuvering Elide’s leg back through it.
Elide hummed her agreement. “You’re so cute, like a little baby.” She reached over and pinched Lorcan’s cheek like his grandmother used to do.
He laughed, finally getting the seatbelt back to where it started and then buckling Elide in. “So I’m told by all the women.”
“I’m cute too,” Elide said.
“Mmhm,” Lorcan said, putting the car in drive.
“That wasn’t very enthusiastic!” Elide yelled.
Lorcan glanced over at her. “I think you’ve got enough enthusiasm for the both of us right now.”
She scowled, and blood shown on her tissues. “Don’t you think I’m so hot?”
Lorcan raised an eyebrow, then turned his gaze back to the road. “Of course I do,” he said, thankful that Elide was too out of it to realize he wasn’t just humoring her.
Luckily, she turned her attention to the “goopy sandwiches hanging off my face”—her cheeks—and the conversation ended.
Hours passed and Lorcan decided that he’d never laughed so much in his life. He was described as grumpy by many, he knew, and he couldn’t exactly argue with that sentiment, so he only surprised himself when he spent the whole afternoon and into the evening positively cackling.
Then again, he hadn’t seen anything like this before.
Aelin had begged him over the phone for videos, and damn him, Lorcan took a few. He didn’t send any, though; he wanted Elide sober enough to judge how pissed she’d be if he shared them with Aelin first.
There was one of Elide screaming singing Never Gonna Give You Up at the heavens and playing an air… banjo? Because apparently Rick Astley had been a big fan of banjos?
There was another video of Elide sprawled on the rug making a snow angel and narrating to Lorcan (and the camera) how sexy she thought Lil Nas X was but how Madonna was every hotter.
And yet another of Elide kissing every single potted plant in the room, every kitchen appliance, every piece of furniture, and telling them all how much she treasured their friendship. Lorcan had had to put an end to that after she smeared blood on the microwave.
Basically, Lorcan got zero work done and had no regrets.
“You need to ice those,” he told Elide, who was resisting him.
Elide grabbed a handful of her cheek and asked, for the fiftieth time, “What is this?”
“That’s your cheek, El. And if you don’t ice it it’s gonna stay swollen.”
“Like bubble gum?”
“Umm… kind of like bubble gum.” Lorcan reached for her cheek with the ice pack again but she swatted him away.
“I love bubble gum,” she murmured.
Elide’s ultra-hyper excitement had slowly transformed into sleepy remarks and confusing analogies over the course of the day. Now she looked like she was ready to drop.
Elide sighed and relaxed her head on the couch, and before Lorcan knew it, she was asleep.
“Thank the gods,” he muttered, placing the ice pack under her right cheek and setting a timer on his phone to switch it in five minutes.
He sat back on the couch next to her, relieved and still amused. His cheeks hurt from smiling so much, and Lorcan rubbed his temples, mentally cursing himself for enjoying this so much. Even in sweatpants and a Hello Kitty t-shirt she’d pulled out for the surgery, even with blood constantly dripping on the (thankfully not carpeted) floor, even laughing like a maniac, Lorcan found her adorable. And it was fucked up because she had no idea how he felt about her.
Lorcan would never mind taking care of Elide, but it stung just a little to know that he hadn’t been her first choice, to hear her say they weren’t “super close.” He’d known, of course, that taking his frustrations with being so infatuated with her out via a bad attitude and avoidance wouldn’t make her want him. But he couldn’t stop himself from wishing Elide wasn’t so opposed to the idea of him helping her out.
It must be how he acted around her that made Elide not want him taking care of her.
Ow. Ow. Food.
Those were the three words that first occurred to Elide as sunlight splintered her vision. One ow for her head, one for her face, and a food because she really fucking wanted some food.
“And she rises,” a voice drawled from beside her, and Elide’s gaze snapped to Lorcan’s form hunched over his laptop.
“I thought you—” Elide stopped herself because there was something in her mouth, and her words were coming out more like hm shmsh shmsh than anything. She sleepily readjusted the tissue in her mouth, then tried again.
“I thought you were going to leave last night.”
Lorcan waved her off. “I figured I’d stay and check up on you. I was tired last night so I just crashed over here. I hope that’s okay with you.”
Was Elide imagining it, or was Lorcan blushing?
No, it must just be an effect of the medication.
Elide yawned, then winced as her jaw protested the sudden movement.
Lorcan noticed and rose. “Let me get you your meds.”
He returned seconds later with two bottles and a glass of water. After an excruciating minute (a pill got stuck behind Elide’s teeth), she sat back. Before she could get Lorcan for some food, her stomach groaned, communicating the message for her.
She looked at Lorcan pleadingly.
He smirked. “What do you want?”
“Pizza. Chicken nuggets. Thai curry. And some chocolate,” Elide replied, listing off the first foods to pop into her head.
“Okay… I’ll grab some yogurt.”
Elide scowled.
Lorcan came back with a container of cherry yogurt and a spoon, and after removing the bloody tissues from her mouth, Elide started slowly, very slowly, eating.
“So, um,” she said.
Lorcan’s face transformed into a go on expression.
“How… was I yesterday?”
Lorcan coughed. “How much do you remember?”
Gods, no. Please, please, please someone say Elide hadn’t confessed her feelings.
“Not much. It’s mostly a blur.” Elide did her best to keep her voice nonchalant, and luckily the yogurt muffled any stray nerves.
“Well, you were certainly very… energetic.” Lorcan grinned.
“But did I say anything?”
“You said a lot, actually.”
Elide’s breathing sped up. “But not, like… What did I say?”
“Should I be trying to recall something specific?”
“No!” Elide winced. “I mean, I just meant if I said anything embarrassing or whatever.”
Lorcan smirked. “Oh, most definitely.”
“Like what?” she nearly screeched.
He laughed. “Just a lot of goofy shit. Sadly, no humiliating stories from your past, but still plenty of content for me to never stop making fun of you.”
A wave of relief washed through every molecule of her being. Lorcan was way too amused to have heard her tell him that she liked him.
He didn’t know.
“Do I even want to know the things I did?” Elide asked, rubbing at her temples, but feeling much more at ease.
He grinned. “That depends on how much you value shame.”
Elide sighed. “Did you take any videos?”
“Yeah, I took a few. Both for Aelin, and because I though you might want to laugh at yourself.”
Elide groaned. “Dear gods, you sent them to Aelin? I’ll never hear the end of it.”
“No, I…”
Lorcan trailed off and Elide looked up at him.
“I just wanted to make sure you were okay with it first so I waited. If you want me to get rid of them I will.”
Elide’s mouth formed an O. Aelin would have had no qualms about sending those videos across the whole internet, but Lorcan had been considerate enough to make sure she was okay with him sending them to Aelin before he did? And if it genuinely bothered her, he would delete them?
Maybe that had a little to do with the fact that Aelin was Elide’s best friend and was allowed to take a few liberties, but she couldn’t stop the warmth that filled up her chest.
“Send them all to me; I have no memory of anything that happened yesterday. But I’ll need to watch them before I decide if Aelin can have them.”
Lorcan laughed. “Okay.” He pulled out his phone and seconds later, Elide heard a ding.
She pulled out her phone and pressed play on the first one.
Fifteen minutes later left her red and in pain. Red because this must be the most humiliating day of her life, and in pain because she couldn’t stop laughing at herself, and her jaw couldn’t take it.
“Dear gods,” Elide said between embarrassed laughs. “Did you know that some people are barely affected by the anesthesia? Why couldn’t that have been me?”
Lorcan shook his head, his eyes dancing with mirth. “Then I never would have gotten to hear about how pretty Madonna’s boobs are. Or watch you smooch a toaster.”
Elide covered her face with her hands. “I want to die.”
“Don’t worry, at least I didn’t get a recording of you trying to surgically remove your cheeks with a plastic spork.”
“Tell me you’re joking.”
Lorcan just grinned.
“That is a definite no to sending them to Aelin, and if you do I am never speaking to you again.”
Lorcan smiled but before he could say anything, another ding sounded on Elide’s phone.
Aelin: How was it??
Aelin: Call me when you’re not loopy anymore!
Elide glanced at Lorcan. “It’s Aelin. I should probably break the news that she won’t be receiving blackmail leverage on me today.”
His lips twitched and he gestured for her to call.
Elide called and put the phone against her face, then winced and set it on the couch, pressing speakerphone. She reached for her half-eaten contained of yogurt.
“Babe!” Aelin exclaimed. “You’re alive!”
“Barely,” Elide muttered, guiding a dollop of yogurt through her mouth with her tongue.
“Everything go okay?”
Elide huffed out a laugh. “Like you care. I’ve been told you were more concerned with Lorcan filming my mishaps than anything else.”
“That rat,” Aelin hissed into the phone. “He’s not going to send me any videos, is he?”
“‘Fraid not.”
“Ugh, than man is too nice to you,” Aelin complained. “You two are insufferable.”
Elide laughed. “Sorry?”
“I take it from the fact that you’re not calling me in despair that you didn’t tell Lorcan you have a crush on him while you were high? I was so hoping you would, it would have been hilarious.”
Elide froze and dread pooled in her stomach as she realized one very important fact with deadly clarity: Aelin didn’t know Lorcan was still here.
“Is that a yes? No? You did tell him and he feels the same because duh, obviously that man’s obsessed with you? What—”
Elide hung up the phone.
A whole day’s worth of being high and Elide managed not to spill the one secret she’d dreaded getting loose, and then Aelin called and there it went. She was going to be pissed with Aelin later, but right now she had bigger issues.
Lorcan was right next to Elide, but she physically couldn’t move her head, couldn’t turn to him and witness his reaction.
A moment of wretched silence passed, and then—“Elide?”
She rotated her head mechanically, meeting Lorcan’s wide eyes with terror. “I, um.”
“You like me?” Lorcan sounded shocked, and not really much of anything else. Elide didn’t know what to make of that.
“Yeah. Yeah, I do.” There wasn’t really any point in denying it; it was probably better to just own it.
A moment passed where Elide could feel her heart crumbling into ash, and then Lorcan… started to laugh.
Incredulous, Elide gaped at the man. “Excuse me?”
He blinked at her.
“How dare you laugh at me? I know you don’t feel the same, but you could at least give me the courtesy of being nice about it.” All traces of despair were replaced with fury at Lorcan’s audacity.
“No, El, I wasn’t—”
“Save it,” she snapped, starting to cry.
He reached for Elide’s arm. “I wasn’t laughing at you. I was laughing at this.”
She shook her head in confusion and apathy, but Lorcan stopped her dead with his next words. “Of course I like you too.”
“What?”
He let out a deep breath. “Elide, you’re the sweetest, smartest, craziest person I know. And I would definitely be kissing you right now if your mouth wasn’t bleeding.”
“Oh,” she whispered.
He chuckled nervously. “Yeah.”
“Wait, really?”
Lorcan ran a hand through his hair nervously. “Elide, I thought you… you never really talk to me that much, and you made it clear I wasn’t your first option for the surgery, and I just thought you didn’t…”
“Gods. No.” Elide smiled as best she could with a tissue hanging out. “I don’t talk to you a lot because I’m shy. Surely you’ve noticed that. And I didn’t want you to be here right now because I was worried I would confess my feelings while I was all drugged up.”
A look of understanding crossed Lorcan’s features and he groaned. “I’m an idiot.”
“We’re both idiots.” Lorcan smiled at that. “Um, can I hug you?” Elide asked. “Like a surrogate kiss just until I won’t be spitting blood at you?”
A snort left Lorcan. “Of course you can hug me.”
Elide scooted over to him and he wrapped his arms around her. “Ow,” she muttered as her face met Lorcan’s shoulder.
He reddened. “Sorry,” he muttered, shifting so Elide’s head was above his shoulder.
She clung to him and laughed. “This is the least sexy time ever for this shit.”
Lorcan snorted. “I don’t know, you seemed to think you were pretty sexy yesterday.”
Elide groaned. “Don’t even tell me why you just said that, I don’t want to know what I did.”
Lorcan laughed again, and something light rose in Elide’s chest. She loved that noise: Lorcan’s raspy, deep laugh, rare and unused, which only made hearing it feel like an accomplishment, like she’d managed to make the gruff man do this amazing thing.
Little did Elide know, he’d be laughing a lot more from now on.

Elide and Lorcan having an angsty fight. And when they see eachother again they're standing under a mistletoe. Maybe they make up or maybe they don't who knows.
I never asked a prompt before... I Just really want to read some Elorcan so this is the first thing that popped in my mind😅
A/N: I love this prompt! I hope you enjoy this drabble and had an amazing holiday season! x
T/W: language
Tumblr media
A winter storm was brewing outside, but inside of Elide and Lorcan’s living room, a holiday party was thriving.
It was difficult to plan and throw a party when you’re hardly speaking to your significant other…which Lorcan hadn’t in nearly two days. Every time he passed his fiancé, they barely acknowledged one another.
Their fight had been the worst one yet. Although both of them were stubborn, Lorcan’s temper was a little harsher than Elide’s. He knew it was a character flaw, but he was too stubborn to work on it. When he got angry, he didn’t want to fix it, he just wanted to stay pissed off.
And he had stayed pissed off for two days.
It didn't stop them from hosting their Christmas party. It didn't stop Elide from cooking all day, and it didn't stop Lorcan from cleaning the house to perfection. He always cleaned better when he was pissed the hell off. He was an angry-scrubber.
Although their friends seemed to be having a great time, the tension between the two of them was evident. Aside from lingering glares, Lorcan hadn't bothered to say a word to Elide, and she didn't bother saying a word to him.
It was ridiculous.
He knew it.
And he didn't care.
Planning a wedding was stressful.
It was even more stressful when a date could not be set.
Lorcan asked Elide to marry him a year ago. Last Christmas, he had gotten down on one knee and popped the question. When she had said yes, it had been the greatest moment of his life. Every hardship he had endured didn't seem so bad, because they had led him to her, to her saying yes to becoming his wife.
But even a year later, Elide didn't want to set a date.
Lorcan didn't get it. He didn't understand it. He knew that Elide loved him, which only made him that much more confused on why she couldn't settle on a day to marry him, to take that final step. It confused him so much that he picked a fight, had started yelling at her and acting a fool when he asked her about setting a date again, and she said that she didn't know.
Their fight had ended with Lorcan saying the awful words: Then maybe we shouldn't even get married.
Since those words left his mouth, silence was all that laid between them.
Now, the room around Lorcan was filled with holiday cheer but he felt none of it. Every minute that passed with that tension between them just felt off, awful, not right.
Lorcan lifted his glass to his lips only to find it empty. He hadn't even realized he'd been drinking that often, but he supposed that misery loved company, and whiskey was the best company of all.
Pushing himself off the wall by Fenrys and Connall, who were bickering about something ridiculous, Lorcan strode to the kitchen with his empty glass.
And nearly ran directly into Elide.
The thing about Elide Lochan was if she was in a crowd of people, you probably wouldn't be seeing her right away, considering Lorcan had almost two feet on her. So when she came around the corner of the kitchen with her own recently filled wine glass, he had barely stopped himself before his shirt had a big red stain on it.
They both froze and stared at one another.
Lorcan cleared his throat. "Sorry."
Elide gave him a nod, her lips in a straight line.
"It's about time you two lovebirds were caught under the mistletoe."
The fucking mistletoe.
Lorcan had nearly forgotten about it until they both looked up and, surely enough, they stood underneath the neatly trimmed and hung greenery.
A sigh left him as he looked back down at Elide, who shrugged and, with a roll of her dark eyes, rose on her toes.
Lorcan leaned down and kissed her, softly. It was nothing more than a peck on the lips, but the second their mouths touched, Lorcan tasted the wine and cherry chapstick. Their kiss deepened, as every kiss that had ever occurred between the two of them had. It was something that should have only lasted a second but lasted much longer as they melted into one another.
When that kiss finally broke, they didn't part too far from one another. Lorcan brushed her hair behind her ear and shook his head. "I'm sorry."
Elide's eyes softened. "No, I'm sorry. You have every right to be frustrated with me. I just know that as soon as we set a date, the wedding planning is going to be so stressful, and I never imagined that I'd be getting married without my parents there-"
"Hey," Lorcan breathed, lifting her chin so that she met his gaze. "You don't need to explain."
"Yes, I do," she whispered, "because I don't want you thinking that I don't want to marry you. I do. Of course, I do. I love you. So much."
"I know," he said, taking her hand. "I love you, too, and we'll set a date when we set a date. As long as you're here every morning when I wake up and every night when I go to bed, that's all that matters to me."
Elide's lips slowly twisted into a small smile. "Such a softie."
"Mhmm," he said, eyes narrowing as they always did when she would tell him how romantic he was being. He kissed her, once more. "Don't tell anybody."
"Your secret is safe with me."
"Good."
Using his empty glass as an excuse, Lorcan pulled Elide into the kitchen with him and kissed her again and again, considering he had two days worth to make up for.
Sometimes he scolded himself for being so stubborn and for falling in love with such a stubborn woman. Yet, every time they fought, they sure as hell knew how to make up.

"Don't touch me! Your feet are cold! " for elorcannn
as you wish ;)
very quick lil drabble i whipped up because it's blizzard season and therefore winter fic time
word count: 510
warnings: language probably
enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Elide heard Lorcan entering the house long before she saw him. Though that may just have been the winds slamming the door shut behind him and the grunted string of curses he let out as he unwound his scarf and shed his coat, shaking the crust of snow and ice onto the towels laid out in the mudroom and hanging the coat over the drying rack. "Shit, it's cold!"
"Wonder if that has anything to do with the literal blizzard going on right now," Elide deadpanned, flashing her hulking, grouchy husband a grin.
Lorcan rolled his eyes. "Thanks for pointing that out, El, I hadn't noticed," he drawled.
"Always happy to help, Lor." Her smirk curled across her face. "Since you big broody men are always missing obvious details."
"Such big sass from such a tiny woman," he teased, poking her in the side.
She giggled and nudged his hand aside. "How were the roads?"
"Not horrible, considering the storm." He wound his arms around her waist, stooping down to kiss her messy bun. "Guess the city's doing their best to clear the main roads."
"And you put the chains on yesterday, so you were fine."
"Yeah." He took a deep inhale of the pot she was stirring. "Dinner?"
"Soup." She leant back into his chest, tilting her face up for a brief kiss. "Thought we could have dinner and watch our show tonight."
"Sounds fuckin' perfect," he agreed. "Gonna change into regular clothes, though."
"Go on," she chuckled. "It should be ready when you get back downstairs."
Shortly later, Elide handed Lorcan a steaming bowl of soup and a spoon and plopped herself down on the couch, settling down among the pile of throw pillows and blankets she'd tossed there earlier. Lorcan put his soup down on the coffee table and slid under the blankets as well, pulling her into his lap, his bare feet brushing against her legs.
Elide squealed, pulling away. "Shit!"
"What's wrong?" Lorcan reached out to her, but she shook her head, curling herself into a ball under a couple of blankets.
"Don't touch me!" she protested, giggling at his utterly confused expression. "Your feet are cold!"
Seeing how that was her concern, Lorcan just sighed, mumbling something about his trials and tribulations. "Happens when you've gotta walk inside in a goddamn blizzard, El."
"There's this thing called socks, ever hear of them?"
"Nope." He smirked wickedly, swooping her into his embrace before she could protest. Along with her blanket bundle, of course.
She pretended to protests for a short moment but quickly settled into his arms, content in her cocoon of soft blankets. "So how about we--ay, ¡putaMADRE!" she shrieked, kicking Lorcan's cold foot out from her blanket nest. "No!"
His deep laugh rumbled through his chest, the vibrations thrumming in her core. "Cold feet, babe?"
"You're impossible," she grumbled fondly, throwing a spare blanket down at his feet. "C'mon, Lor, don't try and tell me you hate our snowflake blankets."
Given that he'd been the one to insist they bought said blankets, he really couldn't complain.
51 68 and 75 for the asks!
Thank you for sending these, they're such good questions. I'm sorry if you wanted the short, shallow responses, I'm not the type;)
51. Does what you like to write differ from what you like to read?
My first thought was "absolutely yes", because one way or another I always end up reading fluff or some kind of miscommunication-for-humor kind of things, or still, not what I normally write, which is mainly heavy emotional angst. But then I thought about my favourite fics ever (my forever top 1 being Noisy Neighbours, nothing managed to top that yet, you live rent free in my mind @thewraithsofmorhogg), and about the amount of angst and suffering and grief and all those very strong, sad, not-necessarily-bad emotions they contain, so I'm not sure? I also tend to read whatever people tag me in or what my friends reccomend, independently of what the story is about, donc yeah I have no idea.
I for sure like fics and stories in general that are very similar to what I write, but it's not always the case when it comes to the actual reading.
68. Are there any fics that influenced you to write the way you do?
This is so hard god, maybe I should have read the questions before reblogging that post:")
I don't know? Maybe in the beginning when I started writing again, a couple of years ago, there were. I tended to reread my favourite Feysand fics for inspiration, but the dynamics between the characters changed drastically when I went to write the same situations for Nessian (or any tsc pairing at the time), so it was kinda useless and I had to rethink it entirely. Even if it was just them cuddling in bed, eating together at a restaurant, I could try and make them act somewhat similarly, but they didn't seem right in so many ways, so I'd end up changing the story and the writing completely.
Now, it's not really about a specific fic, but more of the people I brainstorm with, that usually are @thewayshedreamed and @simpingfornestaarcheron. Or in general the girls from the gc. I think I get something from each of them every time, very similar to the way you tend to act like someone you're always hanging out with after a while: mimicking manners, using the same words, making the same facial expressions. I like to think that after knowing them for two years, all the things we've written and shared together in this time left me something yk.
Sorry I can't give you fic names, I'm so bad at remembering them.
75. Is there a particular fic that readers gravitated towards that you didn’t expect?
YES! HONEY! I WAS NOT EXPECTING IT TO BLOW UP LIKE THAT. I remember I posted those first 4 chapters in 4 days, updating such long babies in such a short time and my self confidence, as a writer but also as a person, skyrocketed that week. I gained like around 200 new followers and so many people sending me asks, which was something so new, cause it was one of the first times I wrote Elorcan. It was like a warm hug. Then I posted chapter 5 on acosf's release date and it was The Smut Chapter™️ and it was, for obvious reasons, a flop. Then after a few weeks it got the attention it deserved, but I never got to finish their story. From time to time I reopen the planning and chapter 6, which is surprisingly halfway done, but Idk, I don't have the right inspiration right now. Kinda sad:(
