Sorry to bother.

I've had a recurring dream theme that pops up every once in a while in different forms. The world runs out of oxygen. Everyone is aware of it and running and panicking scrambling to find a way to survive or commit suicide painlessly first. It's happened three times. The first time, I was holed up in an office building crying with the rest of the people in the building. The second time I was in space, and I couldn't return; I had to make the decision to exit the spacecraft and die instantly or suffocate the same way I would have on earth. The third time I watched as the world was hit with a devastating attack by hostile aliens that caused the oxygen to have 25 minutes to completely disappear. The aliens mocked my inability to do anything about it. A woman handed me her baby as she went to commit suicide.

This dream theme upsets me a lot and it's one of the only ones I can't figure out by myself.

you're not bothering me at all. you're in good hands because apocalyptic dreams are a familiar territory for me.

keep in mind that dreams are so often an outlet for emotions and thoughts we are forced to push down into unconsciousness. not because they're bad, but because daily life doesn't give us the time and tools for us to process them.

in this case, when do people ever talk casually about crises, disasters and the end of the world? we see so many references to it, in fiction and in the news, and these are scenarios that trouble everyone at some point, yet it's so rare that we ever discuss them.

speaking generally, rather than examining the details just yet, recurring apocalyptic dreams are an outlet for fear. in particular, existential anxiety.

whether you are someone who cares deeply about humanity and ruminates on global issues, or not, exposure to sensationalist and fatalistic media or "moral" fiction, is unavoidable. if you're prone to [existential] anxiety, both non-stop media and social media can make things worse.

it is very easy these days to internalize provocative or scare-mongering stimuli: imagery, headlines, charity campaigns, TV commercials, movie storylines, news articles, graphic footage and social media discourse. even though this kind of thing is constant, there's still a lack of consideration for the impact it has on our psyche, mental health and quality of life.

your first dream sounds like climate anxiety and your second and third relate to extraterrestrial activity and alien invasion. these are themes I've seen reported in the media consistently, especially recently, and I imagine you're not alone in having distressing dreams of this nature triggered by irresponsible journalism.

although the media plays on our fears of existential threats for engagement, implying that nuclear war, world war, climate collapse, alien invasion, asteroid hits and new pandemics are imminent, we are often left feeling scared, unprepared and helpless up against these fears. the media leaves us with no solution, only fear. this is likely to activate the survival brain and the imagination, even subconsciously.

it's as though in our dreams we search for relief by actually exploring and enacting the questions these unspoken fears leave us with:

"what would I do in that situation? would I die? could I survive? what horrible things would I see?"

taking a break from media exposure, journaling and talking to someone if you find these issues distressing in waking life are all things I would recommend.

however, on a personal and symbolic level, apocalyptic dreams can indicate insecurity of some kind, a fear of loss, a fear of losing control, a fear of uncertainty or literally a fear of death: a fear of YOUR world ending. this can relate to very minor stressors to major worries about your future, for example.

however, most dreams of death, even though they can be very shocking and distressing, can contrarily indicate that we are seeking change and rebirth, whilst wrestling with dilemmas about the feelings of loss and unfamiliarity that change and growth may bring.

in all of your dreams, the emphasis is not on the end itself, but the helplessness you feel to prevent it within a limited time. being handed a baby also indicates a strong sense of responsibility or burden. being in the spacecraft indicates feeling like you have to make difficult lose-lose decisions.

perhaps you have time-sensitive stressors, responsibilities and pressures in your life that have been a source of intense stress when you have these dreams? exams, tests, a deadline-focused job. maybe your sense of duty towards others is the origin of these dreams. perhaps it's generally a sign you really need more time to de-stress and express yourself.

or maybe these feelings of helplessness and fear are familiar and relate to a memory or situation in your life, or persistent anxiety, which you may benefit from exploring in art or therapy, IF this is applicable to you, as what you've described to me are quite distressing nightmares.

I can understand why they're upsetting, so I hope something I've said or suggested could help you see them in a new light and turn these images into useful insights to process the feelings that your dreams are depicting.

EDIT: another note to add, is that all of your nightmares relate to oxygen. this could be literal: perhaps your room is a little stuffy at night and/or you are subconsciously worrying about your breathing whilst asleep. or it could be symbolic, that something in your life sometimes leaves you feeling suffocated and trapped. ensuring your sleep hygiene is as good as it can be physically and emotionally may help 🖤

Because I can't believe I have to say this (read: because the eng version is THAT bad), here's some things that the translation royally messed up:

In Vil's school uniform, Cater does comment on Vil's eyelashes but he also calls him beautiful and instead of "am I dreaming" says he thought of dating him. Vil's response is "Dating me is more expensive than you know" and it ends with Cater giving up because he can't afford him. There's no price tag on dreaming about Vil, that would be stupid.

Jamil is dear to Kalim. Not as a brother. Not as a cousin. Kalim calls him best friend and talks about how they'll always be together. No family ties there.

Leona's kingdom isn't "all about respecting the ladies" but rather the ladies are dominant there, as usual in animal society. Leona and Ruggie don't "respect women," they are scared of them.

Thaumarks are called Madol.

Blastcycles are called Magiwheels.

Spelldrive is called Magical Shift/Magift.

Housewarden is stupid, they're dorm leaders.

Special Spell is called Unique Magic as in, it is magic that only this person is capable of casting in this way.

They don't actually use the US school system and their ages don't match the system Aniplex is trying to push on them.

Just don't read anything Floyd or Cater say. Period. Most of it is so off and wrong that it's actually sad.

Sam originally has body-paint and a pattern on his vest that look like a skeleton.

Sebek is far more respectful to Malleus than Silver is and should be calling him Master Malleus or Young Master at all times.

A lot of these boys swear. Honestly, do yourself a favor and look up ACTUAL translations, not the censored bs you're being given.

Cater actually has two older sisters who used to dress him up like a girl when he was younger. They also made him hate sweets.

Cater is not a memelord making fun of his friends' mental breakdown, he is a sensitive, empathetic, and severely depressed individual and I honestly don't know why they did what they did with him.

Floyd is not a "lol so random xD" kind of character either, he is moody and gets easily bored of things that are easy for him – which is nearly everything because he's kind of a prodigy. One thing he almost never gets bored of is teasing people, especially those that get emotional easily because irrational things like emotions keep him interested.

Vil doesn't hate poor people and if you can't take care of yourself because of mental health problems, he would never condemn or insult you, he's way more likely to help you out.

The one yelling for hours after Trey and Che'nya took Riddle out to play and for a tart was Riddle's mother, NOT Trey's parents. How do you mess up this bad...

Speaking of whom, Riddle's mom is not slightly controlling, she's downright abusive. They toned her down quite a lot in EN but in JP, she spends hours yelling at Trey, his parents, AND his younger siblings, actively prevents Riddle from forming any relationships, gives him extremely harsh mental punishments for the most minor of missteps, even withdraws food from him if she feels like he's eaten enough calories for the day.

Jamil said the first thing he would teach his parrot is to call him master. Not... "Hello or something" What even...

Floyd's nickname for Lilia is Mendako-chan, meaning flapjack octopus. The scientific name of this octopus is Adorabilis, as a reference to Lilia's cute exterior.

Epel and Vil regularly get referred to as cute and beautiful respectively. This is almost entirely erased in twsten without a given reason. It is, however, safe to assume that it's due to cute and beautiful being words not traditionally associated with male characters. Twsten also erased a lot of Vil's gender-neutral speech which is a key point of his character.

Rook's nickname for Jamil is Monsieur Multi, referring to multiple sides of his personality which he usually keeps hidden, although you could interpret it also as the wide multitude of talents he possesses. The nickname is NOT Pyramid. That is just... really ignorant and racist. Speaking of which, the name of Jamil's Unique Magic is Snake Whisper, NOT Snake Charmer. Both the changes on EN feel like kind of racist ngl.

Since this keeps coming up, Trey is not toxic, let alone abusive to Cater. In fact, Trey is one of the people Cater considers the closest. Cater keeps his distance from everyone due to his upbringing (which did traumatize him, just in a more subtle way than other characters have been traumatized), but Trey is getting closer to Cater letting his walls down.

Vil changed his last name from Venue to Schoenheit so that his success isn't reliant on his father. Eric Venue is not a stage name. Vil had the chance for easy acting success and actively avoided it because it's important to him to achieve his dreams with his own power.

In book 6, Vil mentions all the overblotees being in extensive therapy after overblotting as well as undergoing physical examinations. EN erased the therapy part entirely.

if him ever saying ew hurts your feelings then he won't say it, however he will say the rest, unless him deflecting your "ily" makes you feel bad as well, it's fairly easy to crack him to say it back since you're best friends

a lot of back and forth, but not too hard since he never wants to genuinely hurt you

ALSO if you complement him (on stream ofc) he will find a way to turn it around, not onto you, but just turning into something too tame to be labeled and insult but definitely something close!

you're glad to be getting more popular, now you can find more people who seek comfort from your content, which was your goal when you started anyway! so it's all exciting! ..at first.

rise in people means rise of people in the toxic 1%, and also means rise of haters or people who just don't like you

sometimes you come across tweets like "why does y/n feel the need to be around ranboo, tubbo, and tommy? leave them alone ffs, she got her fame she wanted, she can leave now 🙄✋" and "we get it, girl streamers are less talented so you needed to leech off they boys' talent! like is she done yet or??" or occasional tweets saying something about shipping – which is against not only your boundaries but all of they boys' as well.

the replies being full of "use s/n, using her real name is breaking her boundaries! and if you have an issue, then don't watch the streams she's in, dickhead!", "you could just mute her name on here and not follow her twitch, you're being overdramatic for no reason", "hey hey, remember that s/n checks her indirects", "ew, deactivate", "aw, are you scared bc a girl is better than you at gaming? aw you gonna cry??", etc, makes you feel a bit better, but the punch from the original tweet lingers

after seeing a bit more, you saw the majority of the haters – and weird people – you saw the root of it was probably because you were so affectionate towards you friends and just being around them in general

so, it'd be best to stop, right? don't participate in as many streams, stop being so affectionate in general, to be honest you were already quite anxious that you being so "clingy" was annoying, the hate just solidified it

so you have a plan in line, the hard part is executing it :(

to start, you stopped complimenting them as much on stream, and the late phone calls lessened, and those became more and more noticeable before you "got too busy" to be in as many streams as you used to

"I think it's more of an online hate problem" tommy leaned back in his chair, running his hands over his face before looking over at the discord call as the two others made sounds of shock, "yeah, this started after her platform got bigger and she got more well known" "..you're right" "how- how do we fix it?" so ranboo texted you, making sure to form the text to get to the point but not scare you, he knows how anxiety inducing confrontation, especially from friends, can be for you

you didn't know exactly how to respond, would it be better if you lied? or would the truth be better?

after a few times of the "..." appearing and disappearing on ranboo's screen before you message of ",, yeah, that is the reason actually ;; I'm sorry I didn't tell you, I thought it'd be better to just distance myself :(" sent through

the boys on call could hear the frown in ranboo's voice when he sighed and said "oh" "were we right?" "just a second"

ranboo replied to you, reassuring you that you don't don't have to apologize for not telling them and it isn't your fault, making sure to remind you that you can come to either him, tommy, or tubbo whenever you want

"yeah, she got hate, and I guarantee that if we go through her indirects then we'll see what exactly happened, we may have to scroll a bit though" so they searched around on Twitter and found some, then tubbo spoke "do you think she would want to join call so we can figure out what to do to fix this?" "I can text her, though maybe we can more of distract and comfort her tonight? we can talk about the hate and stuff another time" "yeah yeah, I think that's a good idea"

so he texted you to see if you'd like to join the call, you accepted and ended up playing video games with them – mainly Minecraft servers – for a few hours before tommy had you and ranboo (assuming you're in the US or close) sign off to get some sleep (if you're in the UK or close, he had you and tubbo sign off and then signed off himself for some sleep)

the next day you guys hopped back on call to discuss how you guys would fix it, as well as them giving a bunch of positive comments about your affection :)

you guys decided on a serious stream from Tommy's account, it was either tommy or ranboo's account, but you guys chose tommy bc he's not anxious about turning off donos and other things

you guys discussed that the hate you were getting was uncalled for, and the weird comments were to be stopped immediately.

"I think that's everything? y/n, anything else?" "yeah I think that's about it, thank you guys so much!!" "alright, one more thing before we go- chat- chat, if you have an issue with y/n being in our streams just don't watch our streams! if you don't like y/n we don't want you here" "tommyyyy :(( (/pos)" "wait wait!! chat, if anyone asks or is being rude either spread clips on the stream or screenshots of the tweets we posted!! we want to make sure that everyone – even those not watching the stream – are informed!" "alright, bye chat, I better not see any more y/n negativity!!"

there wasn't negativity in chat when you went to check btw :)! it was in emote-only bc they thought it'd be the best thing to do and most of the chat was filled with hearts and other positive emotes! <33

now whenever hate stuff it posted the replies have screenshots of either tommy, tubbo, or ranboo's tweets, links to the VOD, or clips, stating the most important and the tweet is usually taken down within a matter of hours – days sometimes

and after that everything was back to normal!! you started complimenting them again, telling them how much you love them again, etc etc! you even got back into late calls :)

i'm very socially anxious and i'm starting university next month 😬 i don't drink much and i've never been to an actual party but i kinda have to start going otherwise i'm scared i'm not gonna make any friends at school so do you have any tips on how to act at a party? bc i can't dance, especially in front of others and i'm very nervous when talking to new people

okay so believe it or not, i actually started drinking very late for what was usual in my peer group. (however pls note this is britain; by 'very late' i mean i was sixteen when i first got drunk). that means that while i do enjoy getting drunk now, i've also been the 'sober one' before, so i know what that's like.

for starters, you are under no obligations to get drunk. ever. and you will love yourself a lot more if you stick to whatever your personal limit is, be that one drink or no drinks, even if being 'sensible' or 'boring' can make things difficult at the time. trust me on this. it's not worth caving just to feel like you're fitting in.

the good thing about the age you're at now is that for a lot of people, the novelty of alcohol has worn off, and people are - in some ways - a lot more mature than they were when they were getting pissed in a field at the ripe age of 14. if you say you don't want to drink, aside some inevitable banter, people won't actually care, and if they do, they are very much in the minority and are not someone you want to be associated with anyway. it's actually a very big red flag of mine on a night out if i meet someone still into peer-pressuring at their big age. you have to be seriously insecure if you feel the need to make others uncomfortable like that, and remember that about people!! it's their problem, not yours, and it's very easy to tap into that insecurity without being confrontational if you don't want a scene, so long as you remember that all their false bravado is just that. false.

as for parties, please don't punch me for what i'm about to say but.... try and have fun. i say try bc i know social anxiety is not just a simple one-hurdle-leap-and-you're-fine thing; it's debilitating. but if you ease up as much as you can in the moment, even if it's only a little, then it'll help. at the end of the day, it's just a party, and there's dozens at uni for you to compensate if you make a tit out of yourself. and it's like i said earlier; at a party, people don't care if you make a tit out of yourself. i mean this nicely but when everyone is raving with music so loud you can barely hear when people shout in your fucking ear, and there's dancing and drinking and it's dark, who's gonna notice if you're dancing a little stiffly, or if you fall over, or say something stupid? it's so easy to lose yourself in a party and that's one of the reasons why i love them, because everyone just becomes one big crowd, and it doesn't matter what any individual is doing.

but if it really does feel overwhelming and you feel like everyone's staring and judging you, then some steps i'd recommend:

1) have a go-to person. now i'm gonna be very clear here, whoever you go to a party with, you stay with them. whether that be a group of 5 or just one mate, you stay with them. and i don't mean 'be glued to their side the whole night' bc that's not fun for anyone, but check in on them, and make sure they check in on you. this is a safety thing, but it's also nice to keep tabs on a familiar face. if things get bad, find your go-to person and spend some time just dancing/chilling with them until you feel a little braver

2) find a side room. preferably..... avoid the bedrooms. but usually, side rooms away from the main bulk of dancing are great, bc it's where drunk people go to have weirdly deep talks, and it's very calm compared to the noise of the party. they're good to have a breather. this is like the smokers area when clubbing. 11/10 experience; sometimes better than the party itself.

3) if all else fails, the bathroom is your friend. this is when you think you need to be completely alone without anyone pushing at you or talking to you or bothering you. you can lock yourself in and that's that. is it selfish for all the drunks needing the bathroom? yes. do people act completely self-indulgently at parties thus making the previous question void? absolutely!!! do whatever you need to feel better. no one thinks you're weird or a buzzkill. you will feel worse if you force yourself to just suck it up.

4) if you genuinely feel awful and you're not having fun and nothing you've done is helping, go home. i don't care if you feel like you've ruined the night, or your friends see you as a 'burden'. as someone who has gone home early for friends and also not asked my friends to take me home when i should have done, it's absolutely not a hassle. for as fun as they can be, parties can also get dangerously out of hand. listen to your gut. act selfishly if you need.

but honestly bestie, don't make a monster of this in your head. i promise you it's never as bad as you think. i was terrified for my first party, and now i spend weeks looking forward to them. like everything, it's about practise and figuring out what you are and aren't comfortable with. i promise no one is judging you as much as you think they are, if at all.

A lil group portrait of the time au adventuring gang!! Them <333

Basically tol fucked up as a kid and is now on the run from the law, but realized that since his life was so crazy he could live off of telling stories of his wacky adventures. When he met Jay he wanted him to come with him, and when he found out jay couldn't come cus he was virtually a demon/god/magic magnet he decided he NEEDED to bring him to capitalize on how it'd make more cool stories. And yeah it worked so since then he's been collecting wackos to aaa go crazy aaaa go stupid (and also bcus safety I numbers or whateva, pop and pip are also criminals and pastel and jay are crimes against god <3) more about each individual under the cut!

Doin them from left to right :)

Pastel: died when she was messing around with some friends and got stuck under a big rock and left to starve. But because of a fluke in the underworld her God decided to resurrect her, a right usually only belonging to saints. Because of this she's now poorly pretending that she totally did something to deserve being revived (she tells a different story every time someone asks, she thinks it's funny) to avoid being persecuted for suspected witchcraft. She met Jay when they were both drunk and they had fun fucking around in the city, and she spilled the beans to him that she was revived for no reason. She regretted it, but jay didn't kill her because even though he's religious he knew what it felt like to be magically cursed and have everyone be pissed at u for it. Also she's really funny with jay so tol begged her to come with them to add more Comedy(tm) to his memoirs

Pop: a time traveller and angel who is trying to hide both of those facts but only really succeeding at hiding the time travel thing. When they were a kid they traveled to this time with his friends Lustre and Cherrybomb, but when they were attacked by the vicious royal guard they weren't able to escape without leaving Lustre behind. Cherrybomb super repressed that memory, and while pop recovered from some minor injuries they vowed to never time travel again. Yeah they only kept that up until they were like 15, but they still couldn't bring themself to go back to when they left Lustre. But now they're 26 (well technically they're like 33 but in their time their supposed to be 26) living with their boyfriend cherrybomb and have years of time travel experience under their belt, and they're ready to go back. Except they can't go back because they created a travel block for themself by accident because of how upsetting the event was, so instead they traveled as close as they could, about 10 years in the future of the time. Now they search for any form of closure, all they need to know is what happened to their friend, and they will do whatever it takes to find this out. But angels aren't super welcome in the past, especially not with uncut wings, so it's not exactly easy for them to navigate this time period. But after a while of their search they met two lovely children (well young adults), a demon and a "cursed" (nowadays they call em spiritually gifted) and felt so bad for how much the world seemed to be against them they decided they could travel with them, just for a bit, to protect them. They tried not to get attached. They failed. They're in it for the long run now aren't they TwT also as they explore this time and learn more about the gods, they start to realize that they might... be the God of longevity???? Or at least an older version of them became them? Time travel is fucked man

Btw Lustre plays a big role in this plot, her hyper futuristic knowledge, 'blessed' white eyes, and strange God gifted clothing would all lead to him rising to a much different role than fugitive rather quickly, but they're not who this post is about ;) also I'm gonna go bottom to top for the 3 in the middle let's go

Lune: just a little guy :) lune is a young rancher/gardener who worships the God of the wood, who kind of goes missing sometimes and is lowkey the least loyal God but shhhh he loves them. Lune and tol were childhood friends (along with their pal cleo) but on one of their little excursions tol took something very important to a very powerful king, and refused to give it back. As retribution the king destroyed their entire town, and cleo put all the blame on tol, tol and lune both knew lune had to take the side against tol in order to not have the town turn on him. So yeah he moved with the town to bring up a brand new farm, long awaiting the day when tol would come home and say that things were OK and they could settle back in town together, hopefully with cleo too. That didn't happen, but tol did come back and peer pressure lune into part time adventuring with him! So yeah generally lune just runs his lil farm and prays, but when tol comes to pick him up he gets a chance to go be free to act batshit crazy, just like when he was a kid 🥰

Pipes: DEmon! One time lune and tol had a little squabble so lune was like 'im gonna get a new best friend and ur gonna regret this' and tol was like 'yeah right, u live with a bunch of criminals right now no one's gonna wanna be ur bestie dumbass' so lune just walked into a cave at night and dragged out this little nonverbal demon because demons who live alone in caves don't have high standards for friends. Even tho it was just a ploy to make tol jealous lune went super hard on it and now pipes is actually friends with the gang lmaoo

Tol: like I said with lunes, stole something important from a king as a kid, monarch got pissed, blew up the town, town got pissed at tol for it, and since then he's been on the run because he's too stubborn to give back the damn thing (they could have just attacked HIM for it, but since la queen decided to fuck with his town, his family, tol thinks he doesn't deserve to have it back.) He had to run from town to town and got into a lot of danger in his attempts at finding places to hide, but he lacks fear and tended to fight stuff off. As a kid he found that he could get enough pity to be welcomed into towns if he told people he had to fight a monster to get there, so he told stories at every town and camp he went to of his hardships. But as he got older, those he stayed with beckoned him to keep talking, and more and more people said they had heard of his adventures. And that's when when it clicked, his shining ticket to true freedom wasn't a place, it was his stories. They gave him food, shelter, fun, memories, a life. So he made it his mission to never settle down, to make his life as crazy as possible and to talk about it as much as possible, and if he ever ran out of energy to adventure, he'd spend the rest of his dying days writing and writing his entire life story. He thought this was a life he'd live alone, but one day he sought refuge in jays little lonely house because he thought it was abonded, luckily though Jay had just been praying for a second chance at life and decided that considering the timing, tol must be that second chance. So yeah jay patched him up, found out on his monthly supply route he was harboring someone very wanted, and took care of tol even harder because he didn't know or care why he was wanted, he just knew that anyone who had a drawing of them as a child on a wanted poster definitely didn't deserve it. So yeah they're besties now.

AAA I wrote out a really long description for jay but tumblr glitched and I lost it :'O ble here's a shorter rewrite cus I'm not writing out that whole thing again >:P

Jay: brought up in a church village,, he was born with the curse, which allows him to tap into magical properties very easily, and be very easily controlled, manipulated, and possessed by them. This allowed him to be very connected with his god (the god of longevity) but also meant he was often treated as a security risk and a monster by the adults of his town since he could let in evil spirits so easily. He spent most of his time praying and he became obsessed with acting on compulsions (repeated prayer, overscrubbing, scratching himself, touching religious things until he felt like he touched them "right") because he believed they were messages from God and would prevent him from becoming evil (look he was a teenager and everyone told him he was a monster his whole life leave him be.) He gets possessed twice, mage as a rep of the town is like "either have ur cursed removed or leave town forever" (uncursing is only hypothetically possible, it's hella dangerous) and he's scared itd sever his connection to his god so he leaves and he's upset bcus his entire life plan was built around his church, so now he's livin alone on a hill and leaving like once a month, he stays up there and sews and prays mostly, he sort of works on himself and becomes vaguely mentally stable, so he prays for a second chance at life since he lost his original path and needs a sign where to go, and then boom tol shows up and the rest is history. Now he has his own little family and things are going great :) other than the still getting possessed like once a week but shhhh

Pip: in between the entrance to hell and the religious central of the continent is a little town that sides with neither. They mostly fuck around and find out, and in this town lives a monster researcher and her less formal wife, pip! Pip is just a silly goofy little guy livin life, and when the crazy bunch shows up she feels like he's finally found her people :3 and for the first time the group gains a member who's begging to join them as opposed to the other way around

Ya and together they all go on wacky lil adventures with demons and monsters and monarchs and what not.

Tldr pastel is a funny lil dead guy, pop is a time traveller and the Adult of the team, lunes a lil farmer man, pipes a hobo demon they picked up off the side of the road, tols a little criminal demon adventurer, jays a religious weirdo who tol dragged out of his hermit hut, and pips an insane little guy
