This is not really a ship ask per se just the sokka/suki/mai/ty-lee polycule how do you think it would work? I think their dates are mix of sharp objects, sparring and sparkling conversation. The relationship equivalent of a heist movie (and I guess zukos at kiddie table or something. Guy in the polycule who is just there)

LMFAOOO zuko is like eric andre banging at the gates yelling LET ME INNNN but alas he lacks the spirit and charm to join. he doesn’t even really want to be a part of it either (beautiful women do not actually interest him), he just feels excluded and resentful because it’s unfair that sokka (his favorite special guy) is closer to mai and ty lee (his only peers he ever spoke to until he was 17 years of age) than he is, and also he just generally refuses to understand why suki gets nice things (ie, sokka) and he doesn’t. unfortunately he has just enough self-knowledge to acknowledge that it’s a flaw he possesses rather than projecting that resentment outwards, so he is kind of just sitting there pathetically. alas. many such cases.

as for the group dynamic itself, i think that sokka and suki are a concrete couple, and mai and ty lee are also a discrete coupling, but then suki and ty lee are also together, and occasionally suki and mai also hook up, and sometimes suki mai and ty lee are just a throuple, but then sometimes sokka is also involved, but he’s also usually off doing his own thing so he’s not as present, but don’t get it twisted, he IS there and he’s in this relationship. he’s in this relationship.

it starts because obviously sokka and suki are already a couple and madly in love, and then they befriend mai and ty lee once the war ends. ty lee of course being a kyoshi warrior, so suki ends up spending a lot of time with her showing her the ropes, and also learning chi-blocking from her. suki is obviously just smitten with ty lee almost immediately because she is so talented and beautiful and charming, but also resents ty lee for this fact because she is too proud to admit that ty lee is a better fighter and smarter than she is, but eventually is able to admit her feelings for ty lee much in the same way that she did with sokka.

so suki gets together with ty lee while they’re on kyoshi island together, and concurrently sokka and mai are getting closer in the fire nation babysitting zuko and they very quickly realize that they actually get along really well because they surprisingly have a lot in common and share a sense of humor and love being miserable little haters together. and even though they both hate being in the fire nation, their newfound friendship becomes a consistent source of joy for each of them, and toph included, they are basically inseparable. everyone kind of assumes they’re dating because they truly do spend every second of the day together, but they’re not. or well, it’s more complicated/weirder than that.

when sokka and mai go to visit suki and ty lee on kyoshi island, or suki and ty lee come back to the fire nation (whichever comes first), sokka is already aware that suki and ty lee have gotten together because suki told him about her feelings before she left and then wrote to him about all their developments as they were occurring. and sokka is supportive, but he also finds it kind of strange because he distinctly remembers ty lee as being someone who was constantly flirting with him, and he wonders how them sharing a girlfriend will change that dynamic. but it doesn’t really. ty lee continues to flirt with him. at first it actually makes him so uncomfortable that he thinks he’s gonna throw up, because he’s being besieged on all sides (ie, suki has joined in the incessant flirting, mai is kind of just sitting there wearing this inscrutable yet distinctly infuriating expression) but eventually he just adjusts to this group dynamic.

sokka and suki are actually the ones to get mai and ty lee to finally get their shit together though. suki persuades ty lee that mai has feelings for her while sokka persuades mai that ty lee has feelings for her. and they feel like very helpful samaritans of the world they are so proud of themselves when mai and ty lee finally do get together. they’ve been dancing around their feelings ever since the boiling rock and kept insisting that it “just isn’t the right time” because mai was figuring out her shit with zuko and ty lee was moving to kyoshi island and blah blah blah. but suki’s just like “ARGH I CAN’T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!” and smushes their faces together basically.

as for mai and suki, they first bond over being evenly matched in pai sho. ty lee and sokka are both geniuses who win every game effortlessly, and suki and mai (who both pride themselves on being highly intelligent) get fed up with getting their asses kicked so they start their own pai sho tournament, no ty lees and sokkas allowed. (fyi: we do actually see them playing pai sho together in ba sing se in the finale, which I think is very cute.) pai sho can be a very erotic game depending on how you play it (iroh can attest to this) so mai and suki, as well as ty lee and sokka, greatly enjoy these battles of wit, and get closer as a result. (yet another reason why zuko isn’t invited into the polycule; he sucks at pai sho.)

all that said, I do think toph is also heavily involved in this group dynamic, albeit not romantically, but she’s obviously sokka’s best friend and also very important to mai, so she kind of just hangs around because sokka, mai, and toph are also just their own little trio. but when it is just the four of them, it is truly the four scariest nonbenders in the world participating in this vaguely polyamorous dyke squad telling the most fucked up jokes you have ever heard in your life and laughing their asses off, and they are all gorgeous gorgeous girls who seem highly threatening to anyone on the outside looking in, but are actually very silly and goofy and and dedicate way too much of their time to playing board games. beautiful dynamic I think

(also, just as a sidenote for anyone wondering about whether they’re lesbians or what, that reddit post about being “gay both ways” is sokka’s gender. to me)

hi \o/ just quickly it might not even happen but if it does I will be okay all up it will just be a bit shit for a little bit

onto the au: I’ve been inspired by some art pieces I’ve seen with the basics—vampire!pac/vampire hunter!fit. I won’t go too into the plot in case I do end up writing it (or even just sections of it to post as wips) but here we go I’ll put it under a cut

i think the big thing to me is that fit is a vampire hunter because it pays well. it’s not because he hates them or has a grudge against them or wants to protect people or anything. maybe he enjoys the fight a little but it’s mostly about the money. also maybe not when he first started but by the time the au starts he has ramon so you know he needs to provide for ramon!

i don’t really have anything against “guy who hates vampires and kills them learns not to hate vampires by falling in love with one” stories but it’s not something I’m particularly interested in writing so the motivation of money (specifically money for ramon) is important to me and I think fits fit’s (lol) character better anyway

pac and mike are vampires who were turned by cellbit ages ago when they were escaping from prison together. I like to think through the whole losing his leg thing pac got turned somehow and then mike got cellbit to turn him too so he wouldn’t have to be without pac/pac wouldn’t have to be without him. (Sidenote: I think pac is kind of upset he couldn’t turn mike but mike was panicking a little so… cellbit)

at the time of the au they all live together with felps who is like… the “human” they all feed from. he’s their special little guy and boyfriend (fuga four are all in an established polycule by this point to me) felps is a saint in this au \o/ but it doesn’t really effect those three* it mostly just means he can heal pretty fast/regenerate blood pretty fast so they don’t have to go feed from the townsfolk. they used to though! especially cellbit. but it just ended up being way too much negative attention and they figured out they could feed from felps fine so they decided to stick with that. Richarlyson is also with them \o/

(*there’s probably some way I can fill in the plot hole of vampires being repelled by holy things but still able to feed from a saint but I haven’t figured that out yet. Right now I would say it’s probably because he’s not a proper saint in my headcanons)

also this will probably be exposition if I write it at all so I’ll mention it here: but the thing that kicks off the plot is felps is kidnapped for a month so they have to go feed on townspeople again and that prompts someone to hire a vampire hunter aka fit

the dynamic between fit and Pac here is very much onesided enemies to lovers as in: fit is very insistent to himself that he’s just here to do his job. pac is certain they are living out an enemies to lovers plotline and is having fun flirting with someone who’s trying to kill him because it’s pac so of course he is. and with how fit keeps reacting to his flirting it just confirms it in his mind that this is the path they’re on. pac is right anyway it definitely is enemies to lovers and despite the attempts at professionalism fit is very much falling for Pac

soulmate au (i know) where the name of your soulmate appears on your wrist when you turn 21

janus and virgil are college rivals (they consider each other enemies, even nemeses,, if you ask virgil lmao but janus isn’t really a fan of virgil so). when they realize they’re soulmates they try to find a way to break the bond, but unfortunately that’s not how it works!

virgil’s roommate, roman, is like “ive heard of a way to break a bond but its a bit extra, and coming from me, you know that’s saying something” and basically they need to go to this specific spot and perform a type of ritual, but the only way to get it to work is if they have an unbound person to transfer the bond to. kinda like switching places. so virgil needs someone else to be bound to and so does janus

he tells janus about this insane idea and janus is on board because he’s in love with his unbound roommate logan and he wants them to be soulmates. but virgil still needs someone to be bound to

eventually, he meets someone named remy who’s willing to participate, and they get along well enough, but virgil isn’t sure he’s ready to commit to this guy being his soulmate. out of desperation, and realizing he has the ability to choose this, he decides to go with it

also janus confesses his feelings to logan, who reciprocates. his feelings are the only reason he agrees to this plan

that summer, janus, virgil, remy, and logan head off to this place. along the way virgil realizes he’s got feelings for logan and doesn’t wanna be remy’s soulmate, but how can he tell remy that? or any of them really

janus picks up on virgil’s feelings though and confronts him. they argue a bit, as per usual, and things get kinda tense. by the time they reach their destination virgil finally comes clean to logan and remy. logan admits he feels something for virgil as well, though he couldn’t be sure if it’s romantic or not (it very much is romantic)

virgil apologizes to remy, but he’s like “it’s cool i don’t want a soulmate, i just wanted to help you out cos you seem cool” because not every character needs to have a romantic arc, alloromantics

and they realize they don’t need to magically change their soulmarks to know their destiny. sure, virgil isn’t pleased to have janus’s name on his wrist for eternity, and janus doesn’t wanna see virgil’s name every day, but they shouldn’t have to uphold some societal standard to live their lives in peace. and if they can survive a multi day trip to distant lands without killing each other, they can survive being in a polycule

Tumblr is not real life: polyamory

Dating more people is not a substitute for other forms of connection, like friendships. If you’re bad at making or keeping friends or actually relying on the friends you have for emotional support (no shame, me too, it’s something you can and should work on though) then if you look for polyamorous relationships before you figure out the friends thing you are going to need a support network that you don’t actually have.

Most polyamorous relationships don’t involve everyone dating everyone else. They’re networks where usually two people who are dating a third person aren’t dating each other.

There’s actually reasons to be cautions about everyone-dates-everyone-else clusters (triads/throuples or with more people) even if everyone’s on board. Doubly so when people don’t have emotionally close connections outside of the polycule. Breaking up in a group like that is hard (I mean, even harder than breaking up a dyad is) and often people will put up with things that are bad for them because they’re afraid of breaking up.

Sometimes couples looking for “a third” for both of them to date (“unicorn hunters”) bring other bullshit to the table, like expecting the “third” to not date anyone else or not being public about the relationship or expecting the “third” to go along with whatever the original couple has decided, but even if those other aspects aren’t present, everyone-dates-everyone-else relationships are very risky.

When people avoid everyone-dates-everyone-else relationships, sometimes they still expect an excessive and inappropriate level of closeness between metamours (people who have the same partner.) While many polyamorous people prefer metamour closeness and this is a fine preference, it’s important to respect people’s boundaries when one person doesn’t want that, or when everyone wanted it initially but it’s just not working out. Metamours don’t have to be best buds.

It is really freaking weird to be polyamorous and see basically all polyamorous fic and discussion on tumblr be this highly romanticized, impractical version of polyamory — things that are about as realistic as falling in love at first sight and getting married immediately after and having that work out fine — and none of it reflects how polyamorous dating works (well) in the real world. It feels like polyamory is being used as a romantic fantasy prop rather than being taken seriously as a thing people actually do in the real world.

It’s basically 50 Shades of Gray for polyamory — like ok, glad you find the fantasy interesting I guess (and some people do find their way to real world communities via fantasy) but you’re treating us like vampires or something else that doesn’t actually exist.

And then newbies who want to try it out in the real world have their heads full of absolute nonsense, because they’ve only been exposed to the fantasy version.

there’s something called the “Geek Social Fallacies” (look it up) that criticized common ways geek/fandom communities handle friendships, such as expecting that friends should always hang out as one big group so if two people don’t really get along that’s a Massive Catastrophe. Really in healthy friend groups things are fluid and you can have different events with different people present, so it’s possible to stay friends with people who can’t stand being around each other. (Caveat: if one can’t stand another due to abuse sometimes it’s better to cut out the abuser. But often when two people don’t want to be around each other there isn’t a clear villain.) It’s the same way with both friendships and relationships in polyamory: it’s lovely when your friends get along and lovely when your partners get along, but it’s not necessary. And it’s unhealthy to make it be necessary.

(Momo x Jirou x Denki x Shinsou x Monoma)

Yaoyorozu is dating Jirou, Jirou is dating Denki, Denki is dating Shinso and Shinso is dating Monoma. They’re all really good friends tho. Jirou is bi and Denki is pan and the rest of them are gay

Denki was the first one to realise that he’s polyamorous. He realised that he was crushing on Jirou at some point during the school festival and then realised that he had a crush on Shinsou not too long after. For a while he felt like absolute shit for liking them both at the same time. Eventually, he decided to talk to the squad about it and they suggested that he might be polyamorous. Cut to Denki spending the entire night googling different polyamorous structures, how to make them work, signs that you’re poly etc.

After a lot of pep talks with Kirishima, Kiri and Sero hyping him up and Bakugo telling him he’s sick of Denki not shutting up about either of the purple emo’s, Denki finally confesses to Jirou and Shinsou, explaining fully and saying that if they aren’t interested in being poly or anything like that, he totally understands. To his surprise and delight, Shinsou tells him that he likes Denki too and while he doesn’t want to date Jirou as well, he’s comfortable with Denki doing so. Jirou, however, asked if she could have more time to think about it. She did like Denki back but she just needed time to decide if she’d be comfortable with him dating someone else at the same time and she was also worried about it not working out. In the end though she told Denki and Shinso that she was willing to at least give it a try.

While this was happening, Yaoyorozu had already started to develop feelings for Jirou but had decided it would be best not to act on them as she knew Jirou had a crush on Denki. Not to mention the fear of ruining their friendship. Then when Jirou started dating Denki, she saw that as even more a reason not to say anything. However, seeing Denki dating both Jirou and Shinso did make Yaoyorozu wonder if she’d be comfortable with that type of relationship structure and she found that the more she thought about it, the more open to the idea she was. Then a few months into her relationship with Denki, Jirou realised that she also had a crush on Yaoyorozu. After some time questioning, she realised that she’s also polyamorous and after some internal back and forth, she decided to tell Denki and Shinsou who were both obviously very supportive and became the set-them-up squad. This lead to Jirou asking out Yaoyorozu and ShinKami helping Jirou get ready for her date. Needless to say it went well and Yaoyorozu joined the polycule.

Monoma took the longest to join the relationship, not because he took the longest to develop feelings or realise that he liked Shinso or anything like that. On the contrary, he found Shinsou attractive as soon as he saw him in the sports festival and his feelings only developed from there. It was more a matter of stubbornness and not wanting to be associated with class 1A that stopped him from confessing. So instead he decided to try and suppress his feelings because apparently that was easier than just sharing Shinsou with someone from class 1A. Well that was until Shinsou asked Monoma out after realising he liked him too and Monoma basically did a whole 180. It still took him a while to actually get along with the others, though. However, Shinsou encouraged him to come with him when the rest of them planned to hang out, telling Monoma that he’d get along with them if he gave them a chance. Surly enough, he was right and Monoma found that he had more in common with them that he originally thought, Yaoyorozu in particular. He still refused to get to know the other members of class 1A. Baby steps after all😂

The five of them began to become better friends and will regularly hang out with each other even though they aren’t all dating each other

When Aizawa found out his reaction was basically something along the lines of “Shinsou, what did I tell you?! No loud blondes! You got 2 of them!!” And while he’s a little bit weary as a dad, especially about Monoma, he was overall supportive. Having Denki and/or Monoma over for family meals was an experience though😂

They have a Google calendar to keep track of each other’s dates and when whatever combo of them can hang out

Movie nights are a favourite of theirs. Shinsou and Jirou are both big fans of horror. Denki will pretend he’s not scared but the others can clearly see the marks left on the blanket after accidentally zapping it with his electricity at every jump scare. Yaoyorozu, Monoma and, though he’d never admit it, Denki are all fans of romcoms so they also make a frequent appearance. Jirou and Shinsou will go on for hours about how stupid the movie is but they enjoy them just as much as the others.

The band from the school festival continued being a thing for a while afterwards and every time they played somewhere, Shinso would go to every one of their performances to support his boyfriend and his other friends. Monoma would come along too as his date for the same reason.

2 person dates are still very much a thing, however. After all, they aren’t all dating each other so Momojirou, ShinKami and MonoShin will still go on dates without the others being there. However, if the others are comfortable hearing about how the date went, they’re more than willing to say all the details about it

Monoma and Jirou will tease Denki a lot but they love him

They all went to prom together as a group, each wearing matching bracelets.

As adults Yaoyorozu and Jirou live together and Shinso, Monoma and Denki all live together. Jirou will sometimes stay at the boys house tho and Denki will sometimes stay at hers.

Yaoyorozu and Denki can’t cook to save their lives. Yaoyorozu has had people cooking for her all her life and the few times she’s tried, it came out burnt to a crisp or everyone getting food poisoning. As for Denki, he gets overwhelmed and distracted if he has to focus on too many things at once. So the others have to handle the cooking. Jirou and Shinso aren’t amazing at it but with some practice they’re not too bad. And Monoma is a surprisingly good chef so he does most of the cooking at the Monoshinkami house or when all 5 of them have meals together

Yaoyorozu’s parents try to be supportive but she has a lot of other relatives that are total Karen’s which makes family gatherings with the Yaoyorozu’s an absolute minefield for a multitude of reasons. Not only is Momo a lesbian but she’s also in a polycule with people who don’t exactly know how to act with a bunch of people from high society. So during these family gatherings with the Yaoyorozu family, the day typically starts with Momo giving the other members of the polycule a 2 hour PowerPoint presentation titled “how to avoid last time” in the hopes they’ll avoid disaster this time. While the others do remind her that all the Karens opinions aren’t important, Momo still wants her family to like the most important people in her life so that’s why they continue to go to these gatherings. Anyway, when the gathering actually starts, everyone attempts to be on their best behaviour. Monoma is particularly good at these events. Jirou does her best but doesn’t understand half of what people are going on about. Shinsou is doing his best not to punch a Karen in the face and Denki showed up in a top hat and a monocle because he figured he needed to look fancy. Anyway, the night always ends with some type of disaster occurring, usually something on fire, exploding with at least one person brainwashed. Yaoyorozu is then dragged into a separate room by her family telling her that she can do better and that they’re all bad influences on her and that they’ll be nothing but bad for her and the family’s public appearance etc. However, Yaoyorozu always snaps back, telling them that she loves Jirou and everyone else and that they’re her family too and she’s not going to leave them regardless of what they all think.

Name: Olive Madison Birthday: Sept 14, 1947 (Jumped 44yrs into the future) Height: 5’3 Current home: Maine Birthplace: Cincinnati, Ohio

2. when in canon does your self-insert come in? do you have a scene in mind for your entrance?

Between ‘The Ark in Space’ and ‘The Sonatran Experiment!’ The Doctor drops off Harry + Sarah Jane to do whatever they need to do and goes ‘ok I’ll pick you up in a day!!” 

But, when he’s by himself, the TARDIS dumps him in the middle of Ohio and he finds Olive injured after a protest. They go on a single adventure after the Doctor patches her up before she becomes a companion. &lt;3

3. how do the other characters generally feel about your self-insert?

Olive is very sisterly/motherly towards other companions, so she’s generally well-liked by them. Some are confused as to why she married the Doctor, others feel the need to stand up for her when she can’t do it herself, and others are like, “How did you get the Doctor to even flirt with you? Hold on, let me get out a pen and paper-”

Some of the villains are intrigued by her, while others only see her as something they can use to manipulate the Doctor. The alien villains in particular see her as weak because she’s a human- including the Master- but he quickly regretted underestimating her after he tried to kidnap Olive and she bit the ever-loving shit out of him.

4. would you be considered a main character, side character, villain, or something else?

She would be a main character for the twelfth season but, after that, she’s a side character with a few appearances a few times each season. There are a few AUs where she might appear more often than that, though!

5. does your self-insert have any special powers or abilities?

No, not really! She majored in botany and minored in culinary arts, but that’s about as far as her ‘special abilities’ go. I’ve considered having the Master try to turn her into a Time Lord as well, but I like that she’s just a lil human :3

Olive had a long-haired, black cat when she was little. It grew up alongside her until she was sixteen!

When Olive graduated college, she adopted a kitten named Celeste a month or so before she met the Doctor. Celeste got to live in the TARDIS for a bit and even came to the future alongside Olive.

In a Doctor/Olive/Master polycule, the two Time Lords adopt two ragdoll kittens for Olive! I haven’t named them yet.

With Olive/Master, they come across two orphaned kittens that Olive bottle raises. The Master named them Artemis and Apollo.

I don’t think too much about this, but Harry and Bill might have little puppy crushes on her that they never act on. River having a crush on her would be cute, too!! (Jack has a crush on everyone so he doesn’t count.)

When she’s with the Master, they’re worried and confused. Did he hypnotize Olive? Is she safe? Should they try to help the Doctor win her back? Only Graham ever gets to see how happy she is with the Master after she showed up at her house one day.

With the Doctor/Olive/Master, they are so confused, but they do their best to trust Olive and the Doctor when they say that he’s changed for the better. Still, though, they’re a bit wary of it all.

11. what kind of outfit(s) does your self-insert wear?

Olive enjoys wearing sweaters, t-shirts, jean shorts, skirts, and short overalls! Her style focuses on being comfortable and being able to garden in outfits without ruining them entirely. She also likes to wear sandals but will put on a pair of boots if she really needs to.

12. how would the fandom view your character?

I like to think that they’d see her in a similar light to Rose and River! You either really like them or you pretend they don’t exist so you can focus on shipping Thoscei.

Olive does not get along with her parents. They took care of her physical needs when she was little, but were not affectionate or very empathetic. When she went off to college, they tried to get her to major in financial accounting so that she could follow in their footsteps, but Olive just moved out and cut ties with them. Her parents had even offered to pay for her classes if she switched majors, but she didn’t wanna!! She wanted to study plants and bake cakes, goddammit!

14. what hobbies does your self-insert have?

She likes to bake, garden, and dabbles in various forms of fiber arts! Olive also enjoys fostering animals.

Olive is just there to help the Doctor and be cute.

WHAT IS YOUR OTP FOR YOUR CHARACTER?

When it comes to having an OTP for Kai’sa, I’m more biased when it comes to the KDA verse, especially with Kaikali (I still love shipping polycule though). That’s where my interest in League really started.

HOW LARGE DOES THE AGE GAP HAVE TO BE TO MAKE IT UNCOMFORTABLE?

It really depends on which verse I’m shipping her with others since they’re all different and her age fluctuates, like she’s canonically at least twenty-years old whereabouts she’s at least in her mid-twenties in the KDA verse and a teenager in Star Guardian which, I should remind you, I’m not shipping her with any adult characters in that verse.

Generally, it really depends on the character especially if I'm going to take immortal beings to account because there are plenty of them running around in league, including characters that ages differently; it all depends if there's chemistry because that's always the key to a good ship. And this should be an obvious, but I'm not going to romantically ship Kai'sa with minors and immortal characters that acts and/or looks like a child.

HOW FAR DO STEAMY MOMENTS HAVE TO GO BEFORE THEY ARE CONSIDERED NSFW?

Obviously, when things goes beyond kissing and light touches and clothes are starting to come off, though, I don’t do NSFW RP much anymore, but I’m all right with it when it comes to answering suggestive asks sent by mutuals. For Kai'sa, yes, she isn't going to be an easy character to ship with especially with how isolated she had been over the years and tends to avoid others. She's not going to jump at anyone at any given moment nor is romance the focus on this blog, but ships that aren't romantic? I'm all for it too, but the saying is the same.

Normally, yes. While shipping can occur naturally when chemistry between two characters clicks, it's not always going to be the same for the next ship. It's better to ask than to assume.

I’m still part of the Avatar fandom and it’s my main fandom, but I really like Baatar and Kuvira and Korra and Kuvira and—basically, Kuvira with everyone because she got two hands, two legs, two cheeks, and a mole.

But ships within League outside of Kai'sa? I like Ahrilynn, immortal girlfriends? Yes, please. I also like CaitVi too. Admittedly, there aren't many ships within League that I'm interested in.

Izzy post season 1 OFMD timeline (do not reblog!):

He’s exhilarated to “have Blackbeard back”... for about 48 hours. By then it’s starting to dawn on him that this isn’t really Blackbeard, either. Ed is way more reckless and violent than he used to be, and it becomes a lot of work to keep Edward and the crew alive. Izzy’s used to managing Edward’s moods (note: managing them, not being supportive to Ed), but it’s a lot more, now.

He probably has to go against direct orders from Ed because they’re running out of food, probably has to make his own decision to direct the crew to port to replenish, because Ed’s busy just sinking ships and killing people rather than even raiding them (I use Nassau from Black Sails, btw, and kind of mesh OFMD Republic of Pirates with Nassau, every establishment canon to OFMD there is in Nassau for my prose, and so forth, on default)

He nearly dies of an infection from the cut off toe and spends some time in a fever haze. Also the toe incident... he both has PTSD about it and jerks off to it because yes, he’s a fucked up little bastard man.

He and Edward fight a lot. If aiming for Izzy/Edward/Stede throuple: this is where I see Ed and Izzy hooking up for the first time, and I imagine it being basically fight-turned-sex. Izzy is a masochist, and would pride himself in “being able to take whatever Blackbeard gives him”.

If aiming for Izzy/Lucius and/or Izzy/Lucius/Pete/Fang/etc. polycule: instead of hooking up with Ed during this timeline, probably hooks up with Lucius instead.

Lucius in general: Lucius is alive and hiding inside the Revenge’s secret passages, having Fang, Frenchie & Jim keeping him safe. Izzy discovers this, at some point. Instead of selling Lucius out, he surprises everybody, including himself, by just basically growling at Lucius to make fucking sure he isn’t caught because Edward will kill him, and ends up protecting him.

Fairly soon after discovering Lucius, Izzy starts trying to scheme on how to bring back Stede. He’s pretty beat, at a low, and finally has to admit that he is not able to help Edward. He’s fully aware by now that in the past, while he’s fooled himself perfectly well that he’s been there for Ed and done everything for Ed’s benefit... he never really even knew Ed. He has to come to terms with the fact that he’s practically simply fetishised Blackbeard while not giving a fuck about Edward. That’s extremely painful for him to realise, too. Everything he thought he’d worked for is pretty much falling apart. His whole sense of himself is falling apart. Making it his new purpose in existence to truly support Edward, the first logical step is to reunite him with Stede Bonnet.

Thus it’s partially Izzy’s doing that Ed and Stede reunite.

With Stede being a healing force for Edward, and the two of them co-captaining, Izzy, who originally wanted to get rid of Stede to protect Ed, basically makes it his purpose to serve Stede as well, to keep them both alive and content. This includes attempts at being more cooperative and less of a 24/7 dick, working with the crew rather than against it, trying to get to a place where half of them don’t want to murder him in his sleep. It helps, that he already protected Lucius earlier, probably.

He’s still a repressed pathetic bastard little man with anger issues. But he’s really trying to be better.

All of this is simply a vague default that can and will be modified when interacting with people. No expectation is set on any other canon muse writers whose muse is relevant to this timeline to comply with it. It is simply here to set a basis for unplotted interactions. I will happily vastly diverge from this :D The ships mentioned are less expectations on how things play out when you write the other end of the ship, and more a set story for when Izzy ship is playing around with NPCs, if writing with someone else in a platonic sense.

OOC: Updates And New Characters!

I recently updated my Google Doc featuring rules, verses, and characters with some new stuff, including one new alternate timeline for the “Cuddlepile” verse and a handful of new characters! Let me give you the scoop:

New Cuddlepile Timeline: ~T: Running Headlong Into The Bullshit – an AU timeline in which this polycule expands from six to nine! Mostly because, just for fun, I wanted to combine all of my various ships into one to see what resulted. XD In this world, after Victor, Victoria, Emily, Alice, Richard, and Christopher all got together, three more people ended up becoming friends, and then more, with the group — Preston Garvey (cis man, he/him, biromantic bisexual), another student who does a lot of volunteer work (Habitat for Humanity and stuff like that) and is part of a “Futuristic History” group that does joking “reenactments” of stuff, like the Minutemen with laser guns; Piper Wright (cis woman, she/her, biromantic bisexual with a lean toward female partners), journalism major who was kicked off the official school paper by the head of the department, McDonough, and now prints her own “underground” paper exposing corruption in the school; and Smiler Alton (nonbinary (amab), they/them, panromantic pansexual), psychology major who has a reputation for being the cheeriest person in the school, throwing the best parties and generally trying to put a smile on everyone’s face. (Yes, this is basically “let’s throw the two Fallout 4 companions I love the most and my roller coaster OC into the mix.”) Things, as you might imagine, get even more chaotic concerning relationships and such with this set-up. XD The new character tags here would be ~C: Preston Garvey, ~C: Piper Wright, and ~C: Smiler Alton.

New Inevitable High School Character: ~C: Smiler Alton (yes, my roller coaster OC has made it here too! A new transfer student, they’ve quickly become notable for their bright yellow contacts and their excessively cheery attitude — they seem not to be bothered by anything! They’re also surprisingly good at anything involving chemistry or robotics)

New Fallout of Darkness Characters:

~C: Preston Garvey (the sole surviving member of the Minutemen at the start of Victor’s adventures, he and the few survivors of the Quincy Massacre are saved by Victor from some Concord raiders not long after Victor leaves the vault. To Preston’s delight, Victor agrees to continue helping the Minutemen and even become General (reluctantly), and the two become firm friends as they work to make the Commonwealth a better, safer place. . .and eventually more. Preston believes strongly that the world can be better if people just band together and help each other, and though he struggles sometimes with depression and despair, he’s always willing to lend a hand. Credits Victor with saving his life, not only from the raiders, but himself)

~C: Piper Wright (the publisher and reporter behind Publick Occurrences, Diamond City’s newspaper, Piper met Victor when he was trying to get into Diamond City and she’d been locked out for her latest article, which insinuated the mayor, McDonough, was an Institute spy. She used Victor’s presence to trick them into letting her inside again — fortunately, Victor was willing to forgive her the deception, especially when he saw what a jerk McDonough was for himself. After getting an article from him regarding his time in Vault 111 and his search for his son, Piper joined forces with him, and the two quickly became good friends, and eventually lovers (though it took a bit, given how awkward they both are at flirting). Piper is sassy, opinionated, and has a drive to find the truth no matter what, which has made her a lot of enemies as well as friends — but she also believes strongly in helping others, and feels that making sure people are well-informed is the best way to do that)

Minor Character Change: I updated my headcanon for Richard Hatter in “Cuddlepile’s” sexuality a bit ago, and changed xis entry to make sure it matched -- they are now panromantic asexual.

I saw a post on Reddit recently that said the polycule would have worked better as a closed triad with Rand, Elayne, and Aviendha. At first I was kneejerk like “but I love Min!” and then I realized this is actually 100% true. My reasoning:

1. Mins character is so fun but she really suffers after her and Rand get together. She becomes his full time, endlessly tolerant of his behavior even as it degraded, emotional support system and loses any individuality or purpose. Even her visions (which are super cool) just become a way to convey information to Rand. It was cool when she was more involved with the Wonder Girls, or with Siuan; I want that version of her back where she had adventures and her intelligence contributed to the plot (which is why I loved it when she figured out Callandor.) I think she would have a better chance at cool plotlines if her and Rand were just friends. Elayne and Aviendha do get their own awesome stuff to do (though I do wish they got more time with Rand.)

2. Mins relationship development with Rand is not believable at all. She sees a vision that tells her they’ll fall in love and she’s instantly obsessed. Rand goes from thinking of Min occasionally as sort of a casual friend to “she’s the best I’m so happy she’s here with me I missed her so much,” which I get that Robert Jordan is terrible at romance writing, but he basically skipped any buildup there. Elayne and Rand seem more like a young love thing to me personally, but at least they have the meet cute and get closer when Elayne teaches him about politics in Tear, and his romance with Aviendha is actually a really well done enemies to lovers.

3. This is the biggest one for me. Aviendha, Elayne, and Rand all love each other about equally. I think they would work really well as a closed triad where everyone is each other’s partner and avoid the sometimes unpleasant harem vibe. Less like they’re “sharing” Rand and more like the three of them are a unit. It feels as of the end of the series like Min is the odd woman out; her and Aviendha barely know each other and are not that comfortable and her and Elayne are friends for a few months and then don’t see each other for quite a while. Meanwhile Elayne and Aviendha are super close and spend all of their time together. I could totally see the two of them and post-Last Battle Rand living together and raising their children as a family.

Once again, none of this is anti Min. I absolutely love Min. I just don’t think her becoming one of Rands love interests did anything good for her character and I think there are already two other characters who are better suited for that.

watching Wheel of Time without reading the books

I am making this chain specifically for my husband.  These are his favorite books, and he is curious how I will interpret the story differently from him. Writing this after the first 3 episodes

First impression of Rand: Oh no, a redhead.  Definitely thought he was going to be my fave, but he has far too many emotional outbursts.  Still very likeable, and at least he apologizes and tries to do better.  Thinks exclusively with his dick.  Head empty, no thoughts, just undying love for his best friends. Such a redhead. If he doesn’t end up being the dragon, I will be very surprised. Breaking the world on accident seems exactly in character for him.  

First impression of Egwene: Yeah I get why he’s in love.  I am so glad my expectations for a slow burn angst fest were subverted by these two banging in the first 10 minutes, and then her promptly leaving him to pursue her career.  I love that she can quickly adapt to the new circumstances of her life.  She seems very pragmatic, which is rare for female characters in fantasy series.  She takes the best option presented to her at the time, and does not waste time lamenting that she doesn’t have better options. 

First impression of Mat: Gee, this guy is pretty clearly in love with Perrin.  Poor dude.  His parents suck and he has to be the parent even though he has but two brain cells to rub together.  Yep, he’s my projection character.  Gay, parentified older sibling, makes terrible life choices, charismatic, slutty but desperate for love.  This one is me.  I see why husband had a crush on him this whole time. I really feel for him and the tension in his character.  Forced to mature way too quickly so he did it all wrong.  Forced to choose between abandoning his little sisters or leading monsters to kill them.  No good options there.  I sure hope someone shows him sympathy sometime soon. Maybe Thom can love him like he so clearly wants.

First impression of Perrin: Gosh, he’s so emotionally mature.  He has all the common sense in the entire village.  When everyone else chooses violence or self-destruction, he can talk them out of it occasionally.  Basically the Remus Lupin of the group (for some reason husband found this hilarious). I adore his backstory.  As much as I detest fridging, I love that the battles here aren’t unrealistic and glorious and stuff.  Friendly fire happens, and it is horrifying.  I hope they address this in a good and interesting way.  He is gentle and sweet and patient. Wonder if he and Egwene are gonna get together.  

Honestly, I could see all 4 of them just being in a polycule.  They are SOOOO in love with each other.  All of them.  Well, I don’t know if I see Rand/Perrin romance or Mat/Egwene romance, but I feel like they might all snuggle together at night “for warmth.”  Wonder if this is a monogamy-is-normal world or a marriage-is-a-political-contract-but-sex-is-free world.  None of them really seem jealous of the chemistry the others have together, except Mat being sad that Perrin appears to not be into dudes.  

First impression of Moraine: Is elf girl married to the quiet guy? (three minutes later) Oh I see, they’re platonic soulmates.  Shout out to healthy platonic bonds! Just two bros chilling in a hot tub 5 feet apart cuz they’re not like that. She is basically Malcolm Reynolds but with common sense.  She has trouble trusting people, doesn't show affection but is fiercely protective, will risk her own safety and wellbeing for those she considers under her protection, follows a strict moral code that has nothing to do with the way most of her society views morality, is obsessed with a war that has been over for ages but still affects everything negatively. She has very good plans that fall to pieces because they hinge on people doing exactly what she says and she doesn't bother to make people trust her enough to be able to follow those orders. She doesn't really understand the minds of emotionally driven people because she has had to detach herself from so many emotions in order to make tough choices that ensure survival. She projects an air of uncaring and pragmatism, and can only allow herself to be vulnerable around a single other person who she is deeply bonded to in a very nonromantic way.

First impression of Lan: Quiet, pragmatic, hard worker, understands what needs to be done and does it.  He acts like he has more sense than Moraine, and like she drags him against his will into these crazy situations.  But he’s trying too hard to project that vibe, which leads me to believe he thrives on chaos and can’t admit it to himself.  He is the kind of guy that makes sure everyone at the party gets home safe, and then intentionally takes the dangerous route to his own home so that when he gets mugged he can fight someone under the excuse of self-defense. And the next day he just says “Yeah I got home okay” and never mentions it again.  This is someone who would buy a taser and use it on himself just so he could find out what it feels like.

First impression of Nynaeve: She is the smartest person in the village, but also maybe the most unhinged?  She screamed back at a trolloc and I immediately got turned on.  Apparently most wisdoms aren’t aware that they have the same magic as the Aes Sedai, because Moraine seemed surprised that she knew.  When she came back after seemingly dying I literally cheered.  I love how snarky she is, and how much she cares for everyone.  I wonder why she went after these 4 instead of staying to take care of the village.  She exudes mom friend energy, which makes her seem older, but she’s really only like 3 years older than the rest of them, right?  

Overall, I find the show really compelling.  The characters are all really likeable, but have clear flaws that make them relatable.  Platonic love and romantic love are not given strict distinctions or hierarchies.  Homophobia doesn’t seem to exist, and I kind of get the impression that bisexuality is the norm? People can just care about each other. Everyone has very clear motivations that are consistent with their personalities.  Even the minor characters.  Crazy bartender lady was in an apocalypse cult, but I could easily see her point.  If the whole world keeps repeating, and you know you are destined to relive the same life over and over, I could see how someone would arrive at the conclusion that the only true freedom is ending the cycle.  The gender politics are intriguing, but I worry it will tip into incel “women have all the real power” ideology. I hope it balances out a bit. The bard sung that song about a man who can’t forget, and I wonder if that is foreshadowing someone who can remember their previous lives? I would imagine at least someone can do that.  Otherwise, how would everyone know that time loops and reincarnation is a thing?  If it was simply a belief system, there would be other belief systems. It seems to be a known fact.

So, the setting is omegaverse, and reader is in a polycule with Baizhu, a beta, and Scaramouche and Aether, both omegas.

Scaramouche is the brattiest and pettiest, and sometimes get jealous if he feels he’s not getting enough attention from their alpha, and is always trying to rile Aether up because he’s so obedient. He’s always getting punished because of this, having to watch as his alpha praises Aether and lets Baizhu basically milk their cock dry without giving him any. Extra whiny, needs the degradation and denial and literally hates the fact he can’t get the other two riled up so they can be punished too. When he’s done being punished though, he’ll just whine and nuzzle into his alpha’s chest to cuddle. He won’t ever admit it, but he feels the safest when they’re hugging him, and then he doesn’ feel the need to prove anything and hog reader all to himself just so he knows he’s loved. (He looks the most peaceful when he’s fucked out and purring unconsciously in his alpha’s chest, and you love every second)

Baizhu is the most level headed but also the clingiest, and is always dangling around reader some way or another (specially if reader is also a doctor or working at bubu pharmacy). He helps keep the relationship peaceful, and is also the biggest praise slut ever. (Talk about a cumslut, but he prefers drinking it than to be filled 👀). Don’t be fooled by this behavior though - he takes advantage of the fact he’s always next to their alpha, even if it’s nothing sexual, to annoy the shit out of Scaramouche, subtly riling up and clinging even harder to his alpha, commenting things that happened while Scaramouche was away working to imply their closeness, everything. And it certainly DOES get Scara riled up, bu the fool ends up discounting it on Aether... and getting even more punishment than he should. *sigh* The other two don’t notice (or at least Scaramouche doesn’t), but reader is well aware of this behavior, and thinks it’s HILARIOUS. They do keep him in check sometimes, but only in private ~ he’s got privileges, being the “peacemaker” and all.

(And is it really punishment if he’s begging for it in the first place?)

Aether, per last, is just the cutest sub. He’s obedient and sweet, and loves being told what to do and to wear the cute clothes reader buys for him. He’s just soft! He isn’t really that much into masochism though, only likes a bit roughness and a few slaps, but he makes up for it by simply loving being bred full and commanded all over, it makes him weak in his knees, ready to service. He also loves being degrade-praised (neither of you knew of this kink at first. It was... interesting), and has a penchant for bondage. and i honestly could not tell you a piece of media that incorporated polyamory in a positive way that isn’t sense8. i think there was a show about sirens that might have had polyamory in it? oh, wait, professor marsten and the wonder women, that had polyamory in it. and say yes to the dress had a polycule in an episode this season and i was fucking floored that they had them on!! because i could not remember a time when polyamory was shown in a way that was “these people are normal, doing normal people things” and not “these people are scandalous and taboo and it’s all about sex and obviously this is unhealthy and unnatural and balanced normal people wouldn’t want this ever” on tv!! the first time i ever learned about polyamory was on a show literally called taboo!! is there polyamory representation that i’m missing somewhere? this is a very real possibility but as far as i’m aware polyam visibility happens so infrequently that the bar for polyamorus rep on tv or in movies is so low that it doesn’t even exist.

but i digress. the point i’m getting at is that people do watch the show and manage to not get (or deliberately ignore) the ot3 because of their beliefs, experiences, etc etc. and leverage redemption was probably sold to amazon as “a reboot of a beloved heist show”, not “polyamorous thieves make the world a better place by eating the rich”. maybe i lack imagination, but i literally cannot fathom a world where amazon, fucking amazon, would go “we want to throw our whole weight behind this ~*unconventional*~ relationship. totally go with it”.it’s. it’s fucking amazon. sometimes even now i sit with that for a minute, that jeff bezos’ company is financing a show that the entire premise is “fuck billionaires”. the fact that amazon greenlit this is unreal. 

and for people who miss or ignore the ot3--the show gave us an entire subplot that was “this romantic interest for eliot is incredibly well suited for him, is kind but also badass, they’re like a better version of mr and mrs smith” and also said “this person, who is ostensibly perfect for eliot, is someone he can never truly be himself with” and then went on to have eliot describe his ideal partner while next to parker and hardison, who fit eliot’s criteria, and are smiling knowingly at him before assuring him that they will be with him forever--and not just in a passive way. they are actively planning for a future with him. 

there must be some people who watched redemption without watching leverage first. for them, eliot and maria’s relationship was like a leverage original speedrun: eliot is happiest with parker and hardison, who are equally happy around him, and they all want to hang around each other for basically the rest of their lives.

honestly, that’s pretty fucking crafty.
