Revenge As Sweet As Her
Tumblr media
Part 8 of La Mechancete De La Vie.
Warnings: Revenge. She Talks With Calliope. It Bothers Life. Dream Asks About It And She Gives Him A Choice. Angst.
Word Count: 2.4k
A/N: I started this chapter with no intention of making it angsty, but I've been extra depressed these last few days (I'm writing this Tuesday), so here we are. The next chapter shouldn't be as much of a downer.

Life is very aware she's been procrastinating.
Her power has long since restored itself, and she has a plan, yet, she hesitates to leave The Dreaming to fulfil it. She knew she was tired. More tired than she had ever been, but she was free. And that, she feels, made it worth it.
Life sighs, catching the attention of Dream, who sits beside her on their room's balcony.
"What ails you, my love?"
"Revenge."
Her deadpan answer makes Dream shakes his head in amusement, "Then, perhaps, you should forget about your revenge."
"No," Life turns her head to frown at Dream, "To stop now would allow Janus and any of the others who seek to sabotage me to get away with their back-stabbing ways."
"I understand you can't allow that." Dream grabs her hand, "I only wish you would stay here with me, so I wouldn't have to miss you."
"I don't want to miss you either. Which is why I've been putting off leaving." Life sighs again and leans over to quickly kiss Dream, then pulls back, "But I can't keep putting it off- otherwise, certain beings might start getting ideas."
Dream nods, becoming sad as he watches her stand, "How long will you be gone?"
"Not long, hopefully. I don't intend to linger."
Life leaves the Dreaming, finding herself, once again, on the beaches of Greece, following the string of the God that made himself her enemy. She glares at the hunched-over figure of Janus, the glare intensifying when she notices more Gods materializing, attempting to stay hidden behind the rocks. She walks closer to Janus, stopping out of arms reach of the Roman God. "Janus."
"Life." He croaks, continuing to stare at the sea.
"Are your friends here to ambush me or witness your punishment?"
Janus gulps, the air crackling with her power, "Witness. They've been eagerly waiting for this day."
Life raises an eyebrow, humming in response. She turns to face where the Gods are hiding, "Either show yourselves or leave!"
There's some startled muttering before they start to disappear from the beach, the remaining Gods walking out from behind the rocks, their faces emotionless but their strings screaming with fear.
She eyes the Gods as they all stand a significant distance away from her and each other, understanding Izanagi, Osiris, Freyr, Wakan Tanka, and Daga's reasons for sticking around- as it seems Life is not the only one who wants revenge. Her eyes linger as there's more movement behind the rest of the Gods, seeing the appearance of Aphrodite and Calliope.
Interesting.
Aphrodite waves happily at her, Life watching in amusement as the rest of the Gods eye the Goddess strangely, previously unaware of Aphrodite's fondness for Life, being the only one who sees her authentic form, whereas everyone else sees the one they desire the most.
Life tilts her head as the Goddess's physical appearance ripples, briefly changing into a man with messy black hair and eyes that quickly switch between blue and silver. Aphrodite looks at Life with confusion, noticing the change, before the Goddess perks excitedly, understanding someone has captured Life's heart for the first time in the entirety of the existence of the universe.
She turns her head away from Aphrodite before she can say anything and looks closer at Planes, Ra, and Zeus's strings, finding the Greek God and Titan's pleasure at Janus's imminent demise, the Greek and Roman Gods still feuding to this day, and Ra's curiosity at what she's to do, the Eygptian God making a point to stand between Planes and Zeus, the animosity between the Greek powerhouses evident even if Life wasn't to have her powers. "Can't say I expected an audience."
Janus whimpers as she steps closer, her powers swelling and pulling at the Void where her prison lies. She feels it click, a door opening. The world reacts, red lightning crackling across the sky, and torrential winds knock against the immortal beings. Janus's head finally turns towards her before he vanishes from the beach, and the Void closes behind him. Life reaches inside herself, viewing the Void and smirking when she senses Janus inside the prison, panicking, much like she did when she was first trapped.
She ignores the Gods as they look between her and each other, disappointed at the lack of flair and confusion about where Janus went. Calliope stares at her, unbothered, clearly not on the beach for Janus.
"Where is he?" Zeus asks.
"Where he belongs." Life chuckles under her breath when she sees the Gods shiver. Her face shifts into a glare. "Spread the word: should anyone go against me, they will suffer the same fate. You can all leave now."
They do as she says, leaving Aphrodite and Calliope.
Aphrodite is the first to approach her, an excited bounce in her step, "Hello, darling! It's so good to see you!"
"Hello, Aphrodite." Life says, the corner of her lips twitching up in amusement. She keeps an eye on Calliope- the Muse patiently waiting for their interaction to cease.
"You know, it doesn't bother me that you don't see me anymore," Aphrodite smiles up at Life, "I just want you to tell me who you see! Who captured your heart!?"
Life's hands grab Aphrodite's wrists as the Goddess attempts to cup her face in her excitement, Life's eyes taking on a white glow in warning, "It's none of your concern who captured my heart. And I do still see you."
Aphrodite smiles sheepishly, fear flowing through her veins- but a twinkle of happiness in her eyes from Life still seeing her. "My apologies, Life."
Life lets go of Aphrodite's wrists, the Goddes clasping her hands behind her back as she steps away from Life, briefly bowing before leaving the beach, leaving only Life and Calliope.
The Muse steps forward.
Well, aren't I popular today? Life suppresses a sigh and smiles politely at her lover's ex-wife, "Calliope. We haven't met, but I see you already know who I am."
"My ex-husband's new lover."
Life hums, not bothering to reply.
Calliope shifts on the spot, Life's silence getting to her, "Oneiros couldn't hide his newfound affection even if he tried."
"But he didn't?" Life raises an eyebrow at her.
"He was honest when I asked."
Life's eyes flicker to Calliope's string, moving back to look the Muse in the eye, "You didn't come here to talk about Dream."
"No, I..."
"I can't do what you want."
Life's interruption makes Calliope frown, "You are the most powerful being in existence- and you expect me to believe you can't do it? My son may live a half-life, but he still lives. That is your power- everything in Life, is it not?"
"I cannot change Orpheus's predicament, Calliope. If you had come to me before the events transpired as they did, I could have influenced the event as it came to pass, but I cannot change the way or the condition of beings and people that live in their existence."
I'm not being entirely untruthful. Life thinks as she stares blankly at Calliope as the Muse starts shouting at her.
I don't think I'm supposed to like this.
Life tilts her head at Calliope, suddenly becoming aware of her attraction for the Muse, similar but different to the attraction she feels for Dream.
"... I think you can. I think you just won't." Calliope states, her chest heaving from all the shouting.
Life snaps out of her thoughts, sifting through Calliope's string to see what she was shouting about. Life narrows her eyes when she sees a lot of talk about jealousy and her harsh thoughts on Life's 'inability'. Her temper flares- and Life chooses to reply carefully. "He's your son, so I understand you're upset, but that's not how I work."
Calliope feels Life's power flare but swallows her fear, "Then change how you work."
She stares at Calliope as she walks away. Life's already changing purpose is being questioned by someone who knows nothing about her or her powers. Life scoffs, annoyed and confused at the guilt of lying to Calliope and, by extension, Dream, knowing full well she could help Orpheus- but choosing not to so her plans can go as she needs them to.
I'll make it up to them after.
Life leaves the beach, appearing in her and Dream's shared chambers and flopping down on the bed, staring at the room's ceiling. The Dream Lord enters soon after, having sensed her come back.
Dream pauses by the bed, "I would be right to assume Janus is taken care of?" He sits next to where she's lying.
Life nods, forcing herself out of her thoughts, "He's rotting away within the prison he helped put me in."
Dream's somehow not surprised that's what she had planned for the Roman God, "I can't say why, but I would have thought my siblings and the Kindly Ones destroyed it after they learnt of your escape." He analyses his lover, wondering what else is so clearly bothering her.
"Oh, they did. But I got the inner workings and the process of making it from Destiny's string when I visited him. And then I remade it after gaining enough power." She smiles up at Dream as he looks at her in mild surprise.
"From what I understand, that's a rather difficult process."
Life smirks smugly, "For anyone else, yes, it is. But for me. Well, I'm infinite, my love. There's nothing I can't do, given the time." The sudden weight of what she just said weighs on her, making her feel guilty about Calliope again.
Dream chuckles, "And you think I'm arrogant."
"It's not arrogance if it's true."
"I suppose not." Dream smiles warmly at Life, who sees his string overflowing with affection- for her. The guilt deepens. "How long will you keep Janus imprisoned?"
"Honestly? I don't know. Time works differently in the Void than it does in this reality." She purses her lips, "At least, it did for me. We'll have to see how it is between my time and Janus's."
"Different, how?"
"I was trapped there for over five centuries, but it didn't feel like it. My time imprisoned with you felt longer, I felt the years pass by slowly, but in the Void, maybe because I was alone, I put myself on standby while my powers worked to free me." Life frowns as she remembers, her voice becoming airy, "It went by so fast. One minute I was in the mortal world; the next, I was in the Void, and then I was in some human's basement. It felt like mere moments had passed. And yet, it was centuries. It was the most disorientating thing- I didn't know how much time had passed, but my diminished powers quickly let me know. Can you imagine? Five hundred years straight of actively using your powers. Exhausting."
Dream leans over and presses his lips against her forehead, silently offering her comfort, which she accepts, pulling him down next to her, her body relaxing against him as her arms wrap tight around his waist.
"You want to know what I hated most?" She whispers into his neck.
"What?"
"I forgot what the sun felt like. I forgot warmth and what it was like to feel comforted by the night and its endless stars." She looks into Dream's eyes, "You helped me remember."
He smiles softly, flattered, "I can't say I have ever had anyone describe me as warm."
Life chuckles, "First time for everything."
"I suppose there is." Dream adjusts the both of them so she's looking at him, "What else is on your mind?"
Life sighs, sitting up, knowing he caught onto her less than-pleased mood, "A lot of Gods came to witness Janus's punishment... including Calliope."
"What happened?" Dream slowly sits up with her, not knowing what to think.
"She was quite mad at me." Life mutters, sensing Dream's unsaid questions. She turns to face him, "Do you want me to be completely honest with you, or do you want to have a clear mind and continue developing our relationship?"
Dream frowns, not liking the sound of what she just said, "I want you to be honest with me."
"Okay. Calliope wants me to help Orpheus and return him to his former self."
Dream looks at her, shocked, his head spinning with questions and emotions he can't decipher. "Can you?"
Life stares at him, not wanting to confirm. She does so anyway. "Yes... But I won't."
"Why?" Dream frowns at her, pushing down his flaring temper.
"You heard what I said to Matthew, how I see everything." She pauses, waiting for him to confirm before continuing, "There is a certain way I need things to go and to extend my help now would disrupt everything,"
It clicks in Dream's mind, and thunder rumbles across the Dreaming in response. "You won't help my son because of this event you can't tell me about!"
Life doesn't stop him from standing from the bed, "I know, and I'm sorry. But there will come a time, one day, when you will see what I'm doing. I promise you- it will all make sense."
Dream looks at her in disbelief, "Do you think your revenge is more important than my son?"
"That isn't what this is. I'm protecting all of you! You, Orpheus and Calliope!" Life feels even that is too much information.
Dream stares at her, seeing her panic, desperation, and honesty. He shakes his head, conflicted. "I believe you, but..."
Life's eyes tear up, "I understand. He's your son."
He sighs, their relationship's quick downfall disappointing and heartbreaking for him, "I'll stay in another room."
"No." Life shakes her head, hating this will force her to get on with her plans, having previously been using her powers to push the events back, "I won't stay in the Dreaming."
"Where will you go?" Dream can't help but ask, knowing he can't change her mind about staying, though the Dream Lord is still concerned for her, despite his inability to get past her dismissal of his son's suffering in favour of her plans.
"Where I need to be."
Life hesitates but goes with what she wants to do, kissing Dream on the cheek before backing away and fading from The Dreaming, leaving a heartbroken Dream Lord.
She takes a deep breath, looking around at the darkness surrounding her, her heart heavy and burdened. Another deep breath filters through her unneeded lungs, her power swelling for the second time that day. Her powers explode from her body, making the corners of her lips turn up slightly as she watches the darkness conform to her wishes.
The Void is mine now.

Not that it matters but I think Eygptian is my favorite mythos in the game so far
There’s like so many way they go with these designs
jojo stand
on the furry to kemonomimi  spectrum
having sand (orange) skin cause you got your powers from a river goddess
having night (blue) skin cause your powers are from a sky goddess
or simply replaced hair with linen wrapping
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next would be Chinese folklore
usually on the tame side of designs
at most they can have some animal like traits
BUT when they make a monster design it is a good one
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then there’s Greek
purely for the surprise factor because from first glance you have 0 clue where most of them get their powers from. And then you hear their god and then you slowly start going “oh ya that makes sense“
Tumblr media Tumblr media
finally there’s the Norse with the safest designs of the game
no real surprises except Jacob
but like all the rest of the game roster solid designs all around

Bastet: Bastet was the goddess of protection, pleasure, and the bringer of good health. She had the head of a cat and a slender female body. Bastet was the daughter of Ra, sister of Sekhmet, the wife of Ptah, and the mother of Mihos. Since the Second Dynasty, Bastet was worshiped as a deity, most commonly in Lower Egypt.
When the voices started you swore you were officially going crazy, you began to panic in the dark at the womanly voice calling to you. You shut off from the world, worrying your mother who you lived with. You didn’t talk to your best friend about it either to scared she’d call you insane despite the many years of sharing everything. The voice would sing sometimes, a beautiful melody in a language you didn’t know, soothing and calming despite everything. You noticed the glow first also, your body began to clear of simple blemishes, your pimples and dark under eyes disappeared. You skin was clear and surprisingly smooth. You didn’t know what it was, now afraid to leave your room and let your mum see you. When she did see you she just titled her head but smiled it off and left you alone while the voice in your head chuckled softly.
It was late at night when she started to speak, your eyes opening to stare at the roof.
“Y/n” you jumped at voice by you this time and not in your head. You almost fell from your bed when you saw the woman sitting on your window seal. You gaped confused and scared. She had a black dress on with a very low v-neck, gold straps and bangles. She had a black cat head with a human body, you scrambled for your phone.
“I wouldn’t do that” she chuckled.
“They’d never believe you” she said stepping into your room and looking around.
“What?” You muttered as she looked around, running her hand over your bed quilt.
“Hm” she said frowning.
“Plain cotton” she whispered looking to your wardrobe. She opened it up and gulped before closing it again.
“Well” she said clasping her hands in front of her.
“I am Bastet” she bowed gracefully.
“Who?” You didn’t mean to blurt and she raised an eyebrow.
“Goddess of protection, pleasure, bringer of good health and cats!” she said. You stared confused though, heart pounding. She was the voice in your head, the one singing.
“I guess not everyone has the same reaction” she muttered but shrugged and smiled.
“Egyptian goddess my dear” she said like it would clear all this up.
“You are my avatar” she added but it still didn’t process.
“Child please you’re scaring me” she chuckled nervously.
“Scaring you?!” You yelled.
“You showed up in my room! You’ve been in my head-“ you froze when a knock came.
“Y/n? Honey are you alright?” Your mother called and you froze.
“Sorry! Sorry I uh, am not alright” you muttered the last part.
“Oh- ok, well can I come in?” She asked.
“Please” you said looking to the ground. Your mother had a worried and slightly scared look as you both sat on the edge of your bed. The woman, Bastet, hadn’t left standing gracefully.
“I know you haven’t been well these last few weeks, but now I’m very worried” she said and you sighed head in hands.
“I know I didn’t mean to shout I-“ you glanced to Bastet who tilted her head.
“Am going insane” you muttered.
“Well your appointment is tomorrow” your mum said hopeful.
“They’ll help you” she wrapped her arm around your shoulder as you began to cry. Hathor moved and you tensed as she sat on the other side of you and held your hand singing softly. Her voice soothed you again, though her hand was not warm or cold, it felt like nothing, but she was there.
You awoke groggily, you went to the appointment by yourself, catching the bus to the specialist centre. Bastet didn’t show up again, nor did she speak making you thankful.
“Is this seat taken?” You heard and looked up. You gulped a little but shook your head as the man sat down. He wore worn out clothes and his feet crunched when he stepped. He smiled to you, a strange walking stick in his hand also.
“Must be maddening” he said and you frowned.
“Sorry?” You said.
“The voices” he said and you froze, how the hell did he know.
“Sir, I don’t know what your talking about” you went to sit up but he blocked you.
“I can help you” he muttered.
“Y/n! Run!” You heard a familiar voice in your head.
“Telling you to run?” He asked and you coward back.
“Who are you?” You asked.
“Arthur Harrow” he said smiling, but it made you uneasy. The bus slowed and you gulped.
“This is my stop” you said quickly rushing off. Your body shook and you panted nervously as you walked to the building.
“Are you ok?” You heard beside you and glanced seeing the black headed cat woman.
“No!” You hissed quietly.
“Do not trust that man” she hissed eyes ahead before she muttered something in a foreign language. She stopped though ears pricked up as she stared across the road. You stopped also following her gaze confused.
“We’re not the only one” she said walking across the street, the cars going through her. You stood baffled before your phone vibrated. You swore beginning to jog to the building.
You sat awkwardly, fidgeting, wondering where the hell the cat woman went. The woman in front of you sat with a tablet, looking through it.
“So, you were referred by your doctor, though you do not specify why?” She said tilting her head in question.
“Uh-“ you froze suddenly reality keeping up with you. Not a soul would believe you, a cat woman appearing in your house, a goddess. You’d be sent to a mental institution or worse.
“My moods have been chaotic lately along with my anxiety” you said as you saw a figure appear beside you near the window. You didn’t dare look as her tail swished.
“I’m just not myself, and want to find out if I need a medication change or just someone to talk it out with” you smiled nervously.
“Clever human” Bastet smiled and disappeared making you sigh softly.
The appointment went well, you were to monitor your moods and emotions for a while and come back in the following week. You wandered the streets to a small cafe, you sat and had a drink and food before sighing. Bastet appeared in the chair in front of you making you jump.
“That was a brave move you made” she said.
“I wont talk about things you have to answer just subtly nod or shake your head” she chuckled.
“There is a place nearby a museum on ancient Egypt” you nodded slightly.
“I would like to go there, perhaps I can give you some insight, despite it all being fake” she scoffed lightly making you smile.
“She can smile!” Bastet exclaimed making you roll your eyes. You picked up your phone and held it to your ear.
“I can” you said and she smirked in a cat way.
“Smart human” she said.
“You want to go to the museum to enlighten me?” You asked and she nodded.
“I’m no less freaked out” you stated.
“I figured a week in your head then my appearance would be fine!” She huffed.
“How is that fine! You’re-” you gestured and she sneered.
“You’re pretty but it’s scary” you muttered.
“I’ll take the compliment” she said proudly making you huff.
“I’ll finish my food then we can go” you said unsure as to why you were talking with a goddess like it was the most normal thing.

7a. I point it out because, I know nothing about personality disorder except for the basic.
7b. And the fact that- is it really personality disorder? Or is just a different part of your personality showing? Does that question make sense?
8. Steven being excited about a tomb and his random knowledge is so wholesome. Like, I can only be excited about certain things around certain people. Steven though, he can be excited around anything.
9. That kiss though.
9a. But can like- can Marc really be jealous and upset with Steven?
10. Steven falling? Me. Absolutely.

24. Okay, am I the only one who got Hunger Games and The 100 vibes when it came to the psych ward?
24a. Yes? Okay.
25. I have never been more creeped out by Indiana Jones, walking sticks, sandles, or soft spoken men than I have watching Arthur Harrow try and convince Marc Spector that he's crazy.
26. But also- I find it interesting that Arthur is speaking to the mercenary and not the nerd.
27. Yes. Marc. Yes.
28. Aw, they do love each other! 🥰🥰
29. WHERE IS JAKE FROM STATEFARM?

1st half of the 2nd century BC. Found in 1900 among rubble above the north hall of the Lower Agora in Pergamon.
The head, along with the rubble, may have fallen from a building uphill from the agora, perhaps the gymnasium.

Ptolemaic period, portrait of Alexander the Great, 3rd century BC, from Chatby.
-Geneva Museum of Art and History.
Tumblr media
Bust of Alexander the Great in his classic head tilt pose. The original is from Alexandria, Egypt. 2nd - 1st century BC.
Earlier portraits of Alexander tend to appear more heroic and mature, while posthumous portraits, like this example, portray Alexander as a more youthful, god-like character. He has longer hair, a more dynamic twist of the head and an upward gaze; in fact, more like the description of Alexander in literary sources.
-British Museum, London.

The classically youthful face, the anastole, the long wavy locks, and the hole in the crown for the insertion of a star (a symbol of his deification) identify this work as a portrait of the ruler.
2nd century CE. The Roman date is indicated by the deep grooves in the hair and the artist's rendering of the folds of the mantle as drilled channels.
-Walters Art Museum, Baltimore, Maryland.

Alexander the Great, depicted in typical Hellenistic style in this alabaster bust from Egypt.

The "Acropolis type", found in 1886 near the Erechtheion of the Athens Acropolis.
Thought to be an original work of the Athenian sculptor Leochares, made 340-330 BC, perhaps after the Battle of Chaironeia (338 BC) when Alexander visited Athens.
-Acropolis Museum, Athens.

Alexander and his copain Hephaestion. Both life-sized heads are said to have been found in Megara as part of a funerary monument for some courtier who admired and probably worshipped Alexander.
The ensemble has been dated to 320 BC, meaning that it was made only three years after Alexander’s death in 323 BC. Striking that these are true Greek heads and no copies made by the Romans in later years.
- Getty Villa, Malibu, LA.

Gods and Goddesses
Pachamama - Pachi Mama, Patchi-Mama or Pachimama is the Quechan or Inca word for “Mother Earth” or more accurately “our mother in space and time”. Most cultures have an EarthMother concept and those of South America are no exception. But the word “Pachamama” goes beyond the name of a single Goddess, it encompasses a entire world view and way of life. It involves the belief that the Earth is a living being and the mother of all of Earth's life. In traditional societies, grown children were expected to take care of their parents and thus, it should be expected that we all care for Pachamama. Pachamama cares for her children as a mother cares for her young and does not turn away from them. If she fails to provide, it is because she is not well. Pomona - Pomona is a wood nymph, one of the Numia or place spirit, and the Roman Goddess of orchard fruit. Her name comes from the Latin word for fruit, the French word for apple is pomme (derived from the Latin). It is only noted in the writings of Venerable Bede that the Germanic name for the month of April, Eosturmōnaþ (Northumbrian), Ēastermōnaþ (West Saxon), Ôstarmânoth (Old High German), was named for a Goddess called Eostre or Ostara whose feast day was celebrated in the spring and further speculated by the writings of Jacob Grimm . Lucifer - Few names stir up as much controversy as that of Lucifer, a minor Latin God associated with the dawn star, or Venus, herald of the Goddess of the Dawn whose singular appearance in the Bible in Isaiah 14:12 which says "How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! Walking through the museum with a god was difficult. Trying to not look crazy while this cat - woman walked beside you. Nobody else could see her just you apparently, others walked past like nothing was happening.
“Odd” she muttered glancing around before quickly going in one direction. You followed as quick as you good as she stood in front of the gift shop. The man screamed and you froze as he stared at Bastet also then to you. He pointed to her and you nodded nervously feeling your heart race.
“Interesting” Bastet said tail swishing side to side before another voice came.
“Do you always scare other avatars?” You held back your scream now at the thing beside you. A large mummy looking creature with a large staff and bird skull as his head. The man behind the counter looked equally terrified as you tried to calm your raving heart. He lifted his hand beckoning you over and you did hiding behind the counter with him. He held your hand to your surprise gripping it tightly as Bastet had a stare off with this other creature.
“Oh my god” he muttered hand shaking in yours. You held his arm tightly trying to calm him and yourself.
“Your avatar?” Bastet asked looking to you both, head tilted making you frown.
“Shut it cat” the crow man spoke and Bastet hissed.
“We should go yeah?” He whispered to you and you nodded. You still held onto his arm as you both left the museum and into the streets.
“Bloody hell” he said looking back to the museum.
“Oh she’s gonna kill me” he whined.
“Who? Bastet? Crow man?” You asked worried.
“My boss!” He exclaimed.
“Well she can suck it up we- just saw things” you said.
“Gods” he said and you sighed.
“No they’re actual gods” he added voice different making you frown.
“Bastet and Khonshu, we’re their avatars” he said voice definitely changed.
“Hang on-“ you said unclasping your hand from his. You looked at him, his face was stern and held differently.
“What?” You muttered confused.
“Oh good the worms gone” you yelped at the voice behind you and scurried forward only to stop as Bastet appeared.
“Stop scaring her!” Bastet hissed also now having a staff.
“Quiet cat” The crow man spat looking to his avatar.
“Deal with this would you?” He said then disappeared.
“Khonshu!” The man said before huffing.
“Deal with this? I swear I’ll strangle his stupid non-existent neck” Bastet growled.
“I’ll join you” the man muttered.
“Can somebody please enlighten me on what the actual hell is going on?” You asked.
“Calm down, sweetheart” he said and you turned to glare at him.
“Do not. Sweetheart me” you said voice low.
“Oh boy” the man sighed.
“You should listen to her” Bastet said something growling by your side. You flinched seeing a black panther by your side a strange symbol in the middle of its head.
“There’s just always something more” you said nervously.
“Can we just talk please? I am about to collapse” you said. Your body hadn’t stopped shaking from the moment she appeared really. The man in front of you frowned and held out his hand.
“No- no” you said and he nodded as you walked to the small garden area and sat on the edge of the brick wall.
“Now please, explain!” You said head resting in your hands.
“I am Khonshus avatar, we have some unfinished business” the man sighed sitting down.
“That’s great, why am I an avatar?!” You said feeling the panic coming on.
“I don’t know how the gods pick their avatars, might wanna chat with your goddess” he shrugged.
“Well?!” You looked to her.
“What am I to do? Fight people?” You snapped.
“News flash! I can’t fight, I can barely walk around the block ok, I do not wish to punch some bad guys and deal with this!” You yelled gaining peoples attention.
“Im going home” you stated pulling out your phone and messaging your mum.
“Hang on-“ the man stole your phone and you glared going to grab it. He held it up and you stood and he did too, holding it above your head. You glared as he looked down at you. You punched his gut and he curled in, you snatched your phone and ran off quickly. You messaged your mum quickly saying you’d take the bus and sighed looking for the closest bus stop. You turned around and saw the man walking towards you with a stern face and tense body.
“Uh oh” you muttered but he stopped suddenly. His face was confused before it turned.
“Hah! I did it!” His voice had changed back as he fist bumped the air and looked around. He landed on you and walked over.
You backed away quickly and he stopped.
“Oh, oh no! No I’m sorry I uh-“ he stumbled over his words making you frown.
“Listen I don’t know what’s going on either, oh cat lady’s still here” he muttered the last part as he came closer.
“Anyway, look I’ll try and explain-“ he began to seize up and his face went back to stern.
“You won’t be explaining anything” he said voice back again.
“Do not punch me again” he said and you glared.
“Don’t take my phone again!” You said and he sighed.
“Look you’re clearly exhausted and confused, just go home and I’ll deal with this” he said pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Deal with it? Hang on, this is my god not yours you have bird skull man” you said and he raised an eyebrow.
“You tell him!” Bastet said and you sighed hanging your head.
“Do you have a phone?” You asked quietly and he handed it to you after unlocking it. You went to his contacts and put your name in there before handing it back.
“Text me when you decide you want to explain something” you muttered feeling exhaustion take over. He said your name and you nodded shoving your hands in your pockets.
“Marc” he said.
“Ok, Marc” you muttered as you saw the bus.
“I’m going home to nap” you said walking to the bus.
“Goodbye Marc” you said.
