DP x DC: Puppy Love
Waiting for my friend in the emergency room(they’re fine, we’ll not fine obviously but not actively dying) so might as well write on my phone
So if there are two things I’m adamant about it’s that Alfred should still be alive and that DC SHOULD GIVE JASON BACK HIS DOG
For those poor souls that do not know, Jason had a dog name, and this is 100% true, Dog. Jason is canonically bad at naming things so he named his dog Dog. And the storyline between him and her is actually really touching. He rescued her from a dog fighting ring where she was used to bait dogs. Jason earned her trust showed her kindness and she loves him for it and it makes me emotional. GIVE JASON BACK HIS DOG YOU MONSTERS
She’s not dead just got written out by giving her to someone, but still, that man loves and pampers Dog, gave her an engraved nameplate and everything
But consider Cujo, the ghost of a dog being trained to be a guard dog, put to death long before his time wanting the thing that made him happy in life: his toy. Danny finds him, bonds with him and helps him get back the thing he loves most, and Cujo loves Danny for it.
A story as old as time, a boy and his dog, or in Danny’s case a boy and his ghost dog.
So imagine this: Danny moved to Gotham with Cujo and things are going great, except for one thing.
Cujo has a little crush
Now normally this wouldn’t be a problem, but Cujo is a ghost. Aka he can walk through walls. So when Cujo wants to visit his lady friend, he just bolts right through the wall, and leads Danny on a merry chase.
Meanwhile Jason is confused to come home to his penthouse only to find Dog cuddled up with a smaller green dog that isn’t Beast Boy. The other dog is friendly and gets along with Dog, but it’s driving him crazy wondering how he got in without tripping an alarm. Then there’s a knock on the door
Jason opens the door to find an out of breath guy about his age with black hair, blue eyes and windswept hair that might have been intentional if it hadn’t been for a few leaves stuck in it.
And that’s how Jason met Danny
Cut to this happening a few more times and then turns into organizing little “dates” for their dogs and the while falling slowly in love with each other romcom style
That’s right, this has been a romcom about two dog owners falling in love because their dogs are literally obsessed with each other
Bonus: Danny giving Cujo “the Talk”
Danny, wagging his finger: Don’t make a rosemary’s baby, understand?
Cujo: Bark
Danny: ... good.

I keep on telling people you're the only one who knows how to plot. Can you teach all of us how to plot, please? I love you.
I AM SUMMONED? PLOT BRAIN SUMMONED?
I love plotting. It's my favorite part of the writing process. Plot is "things that happen" and the best part of writing is imagining things that happen. I'm going to assume that whoever may be reading this knows how to imagine The Happenings, so I'm gonna be talking more about structure, but in like, a kinda abstract sense.
A good plot is a little bit more than a string of events. Plot is like music: there's variation in rhythm and sound and melody, but ultimately there's cohesion, because it's all one song. You can have a bunch of wild things happening, but no matter how strange, there should be something that links them all together, because you're telling one story.
Plot structures are patterns in stories. I'm pretty sure most of them were developed as analysis tools (as in, story already exists > look! it follows this pattern) rather than as writing tools, but people use them as writing tools because it's a neat little way to organize the chaos that is "shit happens." Stories follow patterns for the same reasons music follows patterns: we enjoy the certainty of hitting certain beats. But we also like being surprised. A good pop song doesn't sound like a random collection of sounds, but it also doesn't sound like the middle slider of other songs.
There is this shared concept in both music and writing: the idea of tension and release. Basically, you're playing with reader expectation: there's an imbalance in the experience (tension), and we want to see that imbalance resolved (release). All the common plot structures deal with this basic pattern:
You set an expectation
There are complications to the expectation
You meet the expectation
And this rhythm is happening on multiple levels in writing. Scenes follow this structure (we're gonna get past that door, we're gonna find the murder weapon, we're gonna collaborate and come up with a plan) and all those scenes feed into the overarching expectation (we're gonna solve this murder!). I usually think of chapters as their own mini-story, part of the larger whole. And I think of scenes as their own mini-story, part of the larger chapter. I have engineer brain. I see the gears spinning in the clock. That's why all my chapters have at least One Important Thing happening, because that's that particular chapter's Step #3.
And One Last Important Thing:
In music, a delayed resolution is almost always more interesting than the standard resolution. In writing, that means you wanna drag out Step #2 for as long as you can. That's where the bulk of the story is happening, that's how you build tension, that's how you get people to turn the page.
So when you write a fake dating fic, those bitches better not get together until the very end. I came here for fake dating, not for real dating, damn it. If you resolve that expectation early on, you better replace it with a different expectation that's just as engaging.
But also don't drag it out for too long. Sorry. The hard part of writing is learning the difference between too short and too long. Writing is unfortunately a nuanced skill which is why my advice is like "do this but not too much teehee." But tension and resolution is just rhythm, you can build a sense for it if you engage with enough stories.

Local Smuggler Extremely Disappointed By Boring Reality Of Hyped-Up Love Story: More At Seven
Sabine gives him a knowing smile. “Han, be honest. Are you just looking for advice on how to date a girl who’s cooler than you?”
“No!” he lies, holding up his hands. “I’m curious! I mean, Bridger seems like a nice guy, but… he’s one of those wizards, and from what I’ve heard, your people don’t exactly get along with them.”
Sabine is quiet for a minute, apparently reminiscing.
Finally, she speaks.
“So, Ezra has always liked me. He was almost fifteen when we met, and he was—” She laughs to herself. “He was such a flirt. Cocky, full of himself, overconfident… but he was sweet. Sometimes he was even funny.”
Han gets the feeling she might be fonder of the Jedi in hindsight than she actually was at the time, but he doesn’t interrupt her to point it out.
“We became friends, after a while,” Sabine continues sentimentally. “Best friends. And then some of Ezra’s friends bet him money that he wouldn’t ask me out, and more money that I wouldn’t say yes. So… Ezra and I decided to swindle them.”
Han sits up a little straighter. “Swindle? Antilles and Klivian said—”
“Wedge and Hobbie don’t know,” Sabine cuts him off, grinning. “They think we actually went on a date. And then… to avoid other people constantly asking us out, we kept fake dating. It was our big secret. Our bit.”
“Then, what?” Han asks. “Don’t tell me getting married was fake, too!”
“Yeah, but just for a couple months. But I couldn’t hide my feelings for him anymore, and so I ‘fessed up. And… the rest is history.” She brushes a strand of her hair out of her face and smiles. “You know, I could probably get the girls to bet Leia won’t ask you out, if you wanna give it a try—”
“Who says this is about Leia?” Han demands, bristling.
Sabine just smirks. “It’s nice to see someone who’s worse than me at lying about their feelings.”
“Hey!”

James thought of some ridiculous plans in the past- pranks, love confessions, getting out of detention and the list could go on.
But the thing is, James is used to ridiculous plans. But this?
"So why do you think?" Evan asked expectantly as he looked at James. His faced morphed into a confusion as he tried to think through the plan. Evan could basically hear the faint sound of wheels turning his brain.
"So" James began finally, "If I've understood correctly you want to date?"
"-fake date James" Evan corrected with a note of irritation. "We both benefit, Reg and Barty will end their ridiculous... whatever they have going on. I will then get Barty and you can have Regulus".
James knew it was stupid and ridiculous and their ingenious plan might not even work.
But as he realised there's a slight chance he might get Regulus? What else was there to consider.
James is a king or ridiculous plans as well as a number one hopeless romantic. It should have suprised no one when he announced, "Hell yeah, let's do this"

i don't know if you've done this and I've missed it somehow, but i'm wondering how the rest of the cast outside of team e-scope extended acts towards noah when its revealed by heather and alejandro that noah was lying through his teeth during the cheating arc, especially since you implied that they went out of their way to treat him horribly. are they remorseful at all? do they try and apologize or does secret agent izzy even let them close to him? i really really like how you and perpetualexistence had expanded on that concept by solaiurm
I don't think neither me nor Perp have covered how the rest of the cast reacts to Noah being revealed to not be a cheater, outside of their initial reactions as the peanut gallery in the World Tour finale. So I'm more than happy to throw some ideas at the wall here- hopefully some of them stick!
For starters, it wasn't implied that Noah was treated horribly by the rest of the cast. It was outright stated. That's the bread and butter of his "cheater arc"- being vilified by both the general public at large and by the cast he's forced to cohabitate, despite not actually being a cheater. Which he only makes worse for himself by playing himself up as the villain during his segment on the Aftermath.
.
When Gwen has her initial segment in the canon Aftermath, she's dubbed "the New Heather" and pretty ostracised by the rest of the cast (at least until Trent sits next to her), but she's seemingly quickly forgiven for her own cheating scandal because she shows remorse for her actions/repeatedly tries to apologise to Courtney. In the same vein, Heather's treatment at the hands of the cast in Action and in the beginnings of World Tour is pretty poor. For good reason- she was a mega bitch in Island, and never truly apologised for a lot of her actions.
Why am I bringing this up? Note the difference in the casts' reactions. Gwen is quickly forgiven despite being a 'homewrecker' because she's remorseful and apologetic, whereas Heather is continually vilified because she isn't.
Noah isn't apologetic for 'cheating' on Heather and Alejandro. In fact, he's about as callous and assholish as possible during his Aftermath segment, in an attempt to really paint himself as 'the bad guy'.
Of course he's getting the Heather treatment- but it's worse, because he's stuck in the same hotel as these people, and he doesn't have the excuse of a million dollars to justify being an asshole. So the more proactive of the ex-competitors see Noah as free game to harass as they see fit- after all, he's a cheating scumbag, he deserves it right?
(And some of these guys can be downright vicious when they think it's justified- just look at how Harold was treated in S1E10, just for being an annoying roommate.)
So when it turns out that, oh, he didn't deserve it? That their awful treatment of Noah- the person who complains about anything and everything like it's his career, and yet didn't so much as utter a "Stop." at their harassment- was completely unbased? They're all pretty shook up by the turn of events.
It takes a lot of the ex-contestants a few days to process that they've practically outcast and exiled someone from their group for no real reason, and quite a few of them are angry- at Noah for lying, at Heather and Alejandro for playing along, At Chris and the producers for keeping it all hidden for the sake of drama, but mostly at themselves for jumping on the hate-train so easily. So for a few tense days the hotel is shrouded in this sombre atmosphere, where everyone is too hesitant to address the elephant in the room in fear of either blowing up at Alenoaheather, or Alenoaheather blowing up at them for the mistreatment.
The kinder of them, who perhaps didn't outright harass Noah but did give him the cold shoulder (i.e. DJ, Lindsay, Beth), meekly try to apologise to Noah, but are usually stopped by his partners' protectiveness or Secret Agent Secra before they can.
Geoff, I imagine, would be one of the biggest perpetrators of Noah's bullying; he's already shown a canonical inclination towards Getting A Little Silly Sometimes, plus with his and Bridgette's whole pseudo-cheating drama he'd be far more ruthless towards 'cheaters' than most, even if his dislike of Alejandro initially prompts him to commend Noah's actions. For all of this, however, Geoff is a pretty moral guy- he'd be the first to successfully apologise to Noah, by means of literally shouting across the breakfast hall as soon as he snuck walked in. (Noah's still in the habit of sneaking in and out of meals.)
Noah shrugs it off- he doesn't want to make a huge deal out of the situation, understandably- saying it wasn't a huge deal and that everyone was justified in thinking he was an awful person. That reassures everyone present that Alenoaheather don't hate them, and thus more people scamper to reconcile with them, bridging the metaphysical gap between both groups.
Geoff even ends up offering to throw a 'Noah isn't an awful person' party in his honour. Noah, of course, declines the offer. It doesn't stop Geoff from throwing the party anyway.
And that breaks the tentative ice between the peanut gallery and the throuple.
Similarly, I imagine Leshawna would also be very vocal about her distaste for Noah. She's always disliked him, thanks to his shoddy performance on Island and his sardonic personality, so him also being a two-timer is just the final nail in the coffin for him in Leshawna's eyes. Just like Geoff, though, Leshawna can and does admit when she's in the wrong, and she'd also do her best to make amends once the gap between Noah and the rest of the cast is bridged by Geoff.
Duncan, meanwhile, was team Noah the whole time which gives him major bragging rights. After he apologises to Courtney and Gwen, that is.
To summarise, the cast are kind of pissed about the whole 'lying' thing, but mostly just feel awful about how they treated him. Once things have been given time to settle, the air is eventually cleared and the Total Drama cast go back to their status quo. Something something happy ending?

AU Bot Plots: Is This Love?
Tumblr media
After going through a very public, very messy break up which led to her losing a break out role opposite her ex, Katara is approached by her publicist with a crazy scheme. Katara would get into a relationship with someone even more famous, if elusive, Zuko Kaji.
Zuko is part of a media dynasty, and had a promising career as a child actor, until a terrible accident (which is surrounded by rumors) left him with a large scar on his face. He's now a renowned director, but after a string of his own unfortunate and public embarrassments a few years earlier (his fiancee was caught cheating by several tabloids and then he was filmed outside of her house drunkenly begging her to not leave him), Zuko is a recluse. He hasn't made a film since, and but he wants to begin working again. The problem is, the fans haven't moved on from The Great Mai Fiasco, and it's making it difficult for him to get back in public. His uncle and manager suggests that if he reemerges with an even prettier woman on his arm, Zuko could convince the world that TGMF is well behind him, and he knows just the starlet who could play the leading lady in Zuko's life and his next film.

CW: Chrissy's mom. Specifically being body shamey and ableist. Also characters being pressured into a relationship they don't want to be in.
Okay but ST season 4 AU where everyone lives, including Chrissy and Jason. Like, Vecna breaks his victims and traps his victims in their own minds instead of killing them so he can feed off their life forces or whatever and Chrissy is found in the trailer broken and covered in upsidedown goop but still alive so everyone's like. This is some weird supernatural bullshit. And Jason still leads a witch-hunt.
After it all, Chrissy is awake and recovering and she breaks up with Jason for being the worst. And her mom is like. You're legally an adult, you chased away a good man, because you're bed bound for now you lost your cheerleading scholarship and the only thing that makes you worth anything. You can't even get a job in your current state. You need a man. If you let me set you up with a rich eligible bachelor and don't fuck it up, we will pay your hospital bills, maybe even college.
Meanwhile Steve is a hero, and is a publicity asset for the Harringtons, and for the first time since he graduated high school has some kind of value to his parents. He's being celebrated, and if they set him up with one of their business partner's kids they can curry favor. More so if it's the poor injured Cunningham girl who is beloved and lauded by the town for being victims of the bizarre serial killer, Henry Creel.
(Ignore the goo and the vines and the crack in the ground that used to be main street there was a serial killer and an earthquake and they were totally unrelated.)
So Steve and Chrissy are both being pressured by their parents into a relationship that even conceptually makes them uncomfortable. But she can't back out without starting adulthood in a wheelchair in crippling debt. And while Steve could probably survive being disowned and his parents' ire his abandonment issues and desperate people pleaser tendencies make him not want to piss off his parents, disappoint the Cunninghams, or hurt Chrissy's feelings.
So they go on a lot of very uncomfortable dates. And they kind of get along. And Steve breaks down and full on Robin word vomits that she's great and he's sure she'll find a great guy but he really doesn't want to upset their parents or hurt her feelings- but he really really doesn't feel that way about her- and it's not because she's in a wheelchair or anything- one of his kids is in a wheelchair- well not his kid- there's these kids he babysits- that's not the point- he's really really sorry, but he kind has a crush on someone else, and he can't keep pretending to date her to make other people happy, and he's really sorry. And she's like. Holy shit.
And he just broke down so she feels comfortable explaining her situation and he, overwhelmed by his protector instincts, agrees to keep up the appearance of dating until her hospital bills are paid and she can make her own choices about what she wants.
So they keep doing public dates and stuff. But outside of that, he invites her to meet his friends, cause she lost a lot of hers in everything. She's been really lonely, and she's very sweet and kind of dorky so she gets along with everyone.
And Steve told Robin everything because she's Robin, but not everyone else because he didn't want to get into his parents bullshit or expose Chrissy's baggage so they're all nice to her and get along but they're a little weird about it because that's Chrissy Cunningham. And Steve's dating her???
Also Robin is weird around her because hot girl, but everyone thinks she's jealous which is a weird dynamic. Chrissy thinks Robin is Steve's crush and keeps talking Steve up to Robin and talking about how Robin's great and how close she and Steve are and how nice that is. And it's very awkward.
Eddie is insanely jealous and he knows that Robin's a lesbian so he's like. Oh she has a crush on her best friend's straight girlfriend. That sucks. And he also hates that he can't hate Chrissy, because she's so fucking nice and sweet to him.
(Nancy, Jon and Argyle are all on varying levels of knowing something is up but are staying out of it because they are too stoned to parse what specifically is happening or too stubborn to admit that they made some wrong assumptions.)
(the kids don't care much beyond being glad that Steve wasn't flirting with every age appropriate girl he crossed paths with anymore)
And then Chrissy figures out that a) whoops she has a crush on her fake boyfriend's best friend (Robin). b) Steve and Eddie are in love. And c) Eddie thinks she and Steve are for real. So Chrissy tries to explain to Eddie that their relationship is fake without spilling Steve's baggage, and mentions that she doesn't even like Steve like that she actually likes Robin.
Through some miscommunication Eddie now thinks Steve is unknowingly Chrissy's beard. And he doesn't want to out Chrissy but he's a little upset that she's using his crush totally platonic guy friend this way.
Meanwhile Chrissy tries to team up with Robin to get Steve and Eddie together. Because Robin clearly loves Steve and Eddie and wants them to be happy even if she hates Chrissy for some reason. (Again Robin doesn't hate Chrissy she's just super awkward).
Boundless shenanigans ensue.

A little preview of my wip Ghostflower fic. Though I dont think it counts as ghostflower and leans more to just Gwiles. Specifically Earth!42- Miles and Gwen. I think there should be a separate dynamic for them respectively. Their personalities are kinda reversed. Miles is the one that's more broody and angsty, while Gwen is an adorable sunshine that can roast your ass like the sun. And she's still got that edge to her. Of course 😌
But AGSPSKFLGKGJD Y'ALL TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK?
---------
New York, concrete jungle where dreams are made of
There’s nothing you can’t do.
All right, I am only doing this just this one time. My name is Miles Gonzalo Morales. I used to wonder why my dad didn’t put Davis as my last name on the birth certificate. He told me it’s because he just doesn’t want it to get in the way of making my own name for what he did in the past. Said he and my uncle used to get into some shaaaady business here and there. For all his insistence to erase the past and never look back, I find myself doing things backwards. Because all I be doing right now is get caught up in the past. Trying my damnedest to right it. To give meaning to it.
Fisk still has his sights on being Mayor. His campaign pitch was a load of bull. Everyone knows the villains that run around the city wreaking havoc was in cahoots with him to get the people running as far away from this city as possible. His vision of being a livable safe New York in which he put up in honor of his late wife Vanessa Marianna and son Richard Fisk sounded like an empty promise. If anything, he was hellbent on making an unlivable New York. His grief spreading its reach to drive people away. It tends to do that to a man. In that aspect I can empathize for him.
But what stops me from pitying the fool is that he’s going on driving away families who wish for a new start in the big apple. As well as people who established the roots here since opportunity was promised in the land of the free. Hiking up housing prices. Creating noise and riots on the street.
I could move forward If I wanted to.
If I did move forward me and my mami would’ve been living peacefully in Puerto Rico right now with my maternal grandparents.
If I did move forward, I wouldn’t be sticking out for the city that granted my dad countless opportunities no matter how much he messed up.
If I did move forward, I wouldn’t be giving my dad justice for all the things he has fought for this city. His death would have been in vain.
If I did move forward, no one would’ve stood up to the likes of Fisk.
No one would’ve had the guts to go against him.
And the only one that could do that was someone above the law. Someone who runs under the cloak of the night. Someone who could portray the villain if they needed someone to be angry at. Someone who turned Fisk’s attention away from grabbing every silver lining left in this city to cling on to.
If I did move forward. I wouldn’t be the Prowler.
And if I hadn’t taken up the role of the prowler… I wouldn’t have seen what my dad, my mami, my uncle wanted me to look forward to.
Sunshine breaking through a dark sky. A city burned alight with a new hope. A blue eyed angel flashing me a bright smile.
Just as New York can be greedy, as it takes, and takes, and takes. It also gives, and gives, and gives.
It’s okay to look back in the past. But it’s also important to not get hung up with it that you won’t be able to see the new day in front of you. It’s called New York for a reason ain’t it? Just because one bad thing happened doesn’t mean life stops there.
You wanna know how I got here? Let me take you back to the time when life stopped for me.
